A couple days later, Ichiro approached the trailer in the parking lot of the aquarium with a can of paint and a paintbrush; his intention was to paint up the chipped spots from the van. However, he was greeted by the breeder, who presented him with a Dratini egg. He asked what he could do to repay her but he found out the transaction was free of charge. He cried tears of gratitude; he finally had his very first dragon-type egg.

Sure he was a breeder himself but there was always value in making friends with people in the same profession as you. That being said he was looking for... Oh there it was! He'd never heard of a breeding facility being run out of a van but more power to them. He liked his space that he had and enjoyed having his Pokemon running around all the time. It was fun! Not to mention a great experience to hang around so many Pokemon at once. With a cheerful smile he gently knocked on the van door, not wanting to disturb anyone who was in there too much. Especially not if they were resting or something. "Hello? I'm here to buy a Lillipup."
He was pretty sure this was the right place. If not it would be kind of embarrassing. Though if this was still a breeder's shop and not one of those weird vans that kids were always warned about then he was pretty sure he'd be able to cover the awkwardness by buying something. After all there had to be plenty of eggs and things that other people had. Maybe one day a bunch of people would be coming to his door in order to make purchases? He'd already sold one of his eggs and while Almond had taken care of the transaction he was still extremely proud.

Upon hearing a rat-a-tat-tat on the van's door, the Watchog and Spinda that were guarding the van's front seats immediately hopped to the window closest to the door, squishing both of their faces against the glass until they could catch a glimpse of Henri's face until their heated breath fogged up the window. As the two Pokemon were wiping away the fog with their arms, Luella shushed the group and quickly smoothed out her hair in an attempt to look pleasant for her guest. Opening the van's door, she paused in surprise. What she was looking at here was a nice looking guy, but one look at his hair made her feel plenty better about the bale of crunchy hay she called 'hair' on her head. "You came to the right place. I have a cute one over here, bred from my son's Herdier." If she could help it, she preferred to keep her 'for sale' Pokemon in Cider for safekeeping. While most of her Pokemon were playing cards in the van or going to and from Lake Luna as they pleased, the Lillipup was enjoying a brief nap in its Pokeball.
"He's a cute one, and gets along with the other Pokemon well for the most part." Not that that was the Lillipup's fault, since some of her Pokemon weren't the most patient with the youngsters whenever their space was invaded.
He seemed like an honest guy, so she handed the Lillipup's Pokeball over to him in case he wanted to see for himself what the Lillipup was like. Not that she expected the Lillipup to be stolen anyways, considering that 10 dots wasn't exactly worth stealing over. "I'm Luella, by the way." She raised a hand in greeting and stepped out of the van, closing the door behind her so they could talk comfortably.

He wasn't even aware that he had something of an audience after knocking on the door. After all it wasn't every day that you bought a Pokemon out of a mobile breeding station so this entire thing was new to him. He wasn't really sure what to expect. Henri couldn't help but smile whenever the door finally did open and his query was confirmed. This was the right place to buy the Pokemon he'd been searching for much to his excitement. "I hope I didn't interrupt anything!" He didn't really notice anything out of place, not when his own hair was usually a mess and it didn't seem like it was anything out of the ordinary for hers to be a little on the mussed side as well.
He was glad to hear that the little guy got along well with other Pokemon, especially since he was going to be introducing him to a lot of new faces. Taking the Pokeball from her he gently pressed the button and let the Lillipup out. "He is really cute!" Not that there was really any doubt about the entire thing. Almost every Pokemon was cute to him after all. Leaning down he pet the top of the puppy Pokemon's head as its minuscule tail wagged furiously. "I think I'll name him Oliver! My name is Henri and it's nice to meet you." He didn't think it was rude that he took to playing with the Pokemon first but he could have been mistaken.
Picking Oliver up with him as he straightened back up he was glad to see that the normal type was happy and healthy, something he planned on continuing. "I'm a new breeder, I just got started actually. So I'm sure I'll probably see more of you." After all it would be a lot more fun to make friends with the people he was going to be working with rather than enemies. The entire goal was to make happy, healthy Pokemon and to do that communication with other breeders was necessary.

He was pretty polite for his age, Luella thought as she watched him swoon over the Lillipup's affection. It was a stark contrast from her something year old son, whose age she couldn't quite remember, but he looked to be around Henri's age from what she could tell. If it was Danny, he wouldn't have shown much concern for busting into the place as if he owned everything. Her fault for raising him to be that way, she supposed with a brisk chuckle. Henri's voice dragged her back to reality, and thankfully she managed to catch his name at the end of his sentence. Good. She'd have to make an effort to remember that, seeing how he mentioned that he was just getting into the breeding biz.
"Oh, wow. It's almost been a year since I first got into this." Seeing someone so unfamiliar with the field was pretty refreshing for once, and while she didn't have a clue about what Henri's breeding practices were like, she couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of lending him a hand. "It can be hard at first, but if you ever need a certain Pokemon, most breeders will let you borrow them. It's easier if they know you though..." The days of her newbiehood weren't as easy as she would've liked them to be when MCDC had to compete with top-quality ranches, but once she managed to wedge her foot in the Golden Egg Society's front door, advertising became a hell of a lot easier. Plus, the whole Bubble Dome gig was really starting to pay off.
"Feel free to stop by again. Or maybe I'll visit you. Whichever works out." Pleased that the sale seemed to go through without any issue, Luella shuffled her hands around in her jacket pockets and bobbed up and down. "Actually, you might see a friend of mine if you stick around the area. His name's Kouji, and we both work as breeders for the Bubble Dome. Well, his ranch is in Bayonada, but he comes around sometimes." She gestured towards the large building that resided on the opposing end of the parking lot. It was a hell of an eye-catcher compared to the set-up Luella had in the somewhat vacant lot, but hey. She had a sweetass webpage to do all the advertising she needed, and she survived as an inexperienced breeder just fine. Yeah. Totally.

She was nice to help him with advice and offers of Pokemon lending. Then again even if she hadn't done that Henri would have thought she was nice just for not slamming the door in his face after they completed their transaction. Speaking of completing the transaction he just remembered that he hadn't exactly done that yet. Digging in his pocket with his free hand for the scant ten dots that he owed her for the Lillipup he grinned whenever he pulled them out. "Before I forget, here you go." Holding the money out for her to take he had to wonder a bit about her son. She didn't look old enough to have a kid but then again he was really bad with ages. "It's good to know that people are friendly then. I was worried it would be a lot of competitive people trying to push people out of the group..."
It was something that the guest speaker in school had warned them about. That there would be people out there willing to say and do things to make people less likely to purchase from you. He didn't want to say mean things about people and he didn't really want people to say mean things about him. Or his Pokemon. But if they did have to say them then hopefully they would just focus on him instead of his partners that he was taking care of. His Pokemon didn't deserve to have a bunch of mean things said about them at all. "I'll make sure to keep an eye out for them. Oh, I've probably taken up a lot of your work time haven't I? I'm sorry."
Maybe since he was already over here he would go take a look at the giant bubble dome or whatever it was. After all it seemed like it was super impressive and that meant he wanted to check it out. "I'm over in Bosky if you ever want to stop by. We're not very big but we're doing our best." It was probably a stupid thing to say to someone who was working out of their van but it didn't matter. He had his new Pokemon and he made a new friend so that was good enough for him.

Dots are wonderful things, but friends are golden. What a day to receive both at the same time. "Thank you kindly." She glanced the dots over to make sure it looked like 10 dots and slid them into her jean pocket for safe keeping. She sympathized with his concerns about the worrisome competition and nodded along, figuring that it was a fair enough concern for most new breeders to have. "Maybe I'm lucky and just happened to meet the right people...but most breeders know that it's like, better to stay in touch in case you need a particular Pokemon." It certainly made life easier for Luella when she first got into this whole she-bang, and even though her Pokemon were fairly common, like Spinda and Watchog, not many breeders bothered to catch them despite the techniques they were capable of passing onto an army of colorful eggs. She saw value in them, even if the majority didn't.
He was still as polite as ever, but that was to be expected for a first encounter. "Not at all. I planned on doing a few breedings later tonight, so you're good." He looked ready to leave, and Luella wasn't inclined to stop him. Upon hearing that he resided in Bosky, she honestly wasn't a surprised. It was a great place for breeders, no doubt, and some of the best breeders in Nue had their ranches scattered about the area. "Ha. Not that big, huh?" She cracked a smile and stifled a giggle behind her hand, totally getting where he was coming from if a lack of space happened to be an issue. "I'll check it out some time. I haven't been to Bosky in a while, so that'll be fun." Thankfully it wasn't as far a drive compared to some of the other cities in the region, so that made for an easy trip.
[attr="id","notes"]Hehe, I'll have to do my weekly breedings in the post right after this one. u can ignore it if you want them to keep interacting.

Later that evening, when the Aquarium's guests started to flood out of the front gates when closing time approached, Luella was practically glued to the scratched up screen of an old laptop that a friend of a friend sold to her for an incredible deal. Of course it had its flaws, and the recycled mess lagged slower than a Pikachu dragging a Geodude through the sand, but it was dirt cheap, and her old one was unfortunately demolished when her Spinda had a little too much fun tap dancing on top of it. Thankfully now she had access to several Breeder Facebook pages that included helpful tips and hints about what Pokemon could learn what egg move. Like most Facebook pages, you had your liars and your fakers, and sometimes people were accidentally misinformed, and Luella happened to be one of the gullible misinformed ones that failed to pass on the egg moves suggested by trolls.
It was a little obnoxious, but whatever. She released a few Pokemon when they were old enough to fend for themselves, and she moved on.
Some of the page's more credible and well-known users were talking about their well-bred Pokemon that had moves unlike any other Pokemon you could find in the wild. They were awful braggarts, but they still sparked the idea to experiment with a few of the Aquarium Pokemon in an attempt to breed Pokemon with similar techniques. She almost brought her Togepi along to come check out the Aquarium Pokemon, but he looked pretty engrossed in a small racing game that a much older Nidorina was playing, and each time she lost against the NPCs, she tossed the cheap plastic toy against the chair and sulked until she was ready to give it another go. Neo promptly scuttled over to the fallen toy the moment it was abandoned and pressed buttons at random, assuming he was playing and winning until Serket crawled back and tried to give him pointers on when to press each button.
Cute scene, cute kids. Luella didn't feel like interfering with their moment and quietly inched out of Cider's front seat. She assumed she was going in alone, but as it turned out, a certain Jigglypuff decided to keep Luella company after lounging about the van's rooftop for most of the day. "Aww...wanna spend time with me, Kidd?" Luella glanced up at the Jigglypuff as Kiddo comfortably plopped herself behind Luella's head, looking snug and comfy inside of her jacket's hood like the damn thing was made to fit her. Kiddo might've thought Luella was oblivious, but the blonde kept quiet when she stepped through the Aquarium's doors, wondering if Kiddo missed being spoiled when she was a wee Igglybuff, and if so, she wondered how that connected to her bad attitude towards the Togepi she was attempting to raise.
Kiddo didn't bother to get in Luella's way, merely content with playing with the blonde's hair as confronted the staff to help her borrow the requested Pokemon for her 2 breedings. The female Skrelp was a husky Pokemon that she was starting to get pretty familiar with, but the female Masquerian was a new experience entirely. She kept the two breeding pairs in separate rooms, occasionally checking in on each of them to make sure there wasn't any unwanted tension going on that'd have either couple losing their heads.
The Skrelp and Shellos pair wasn't an issue, since both Pokemon were starting to get familiar with the meaning and intention behind the tanks in the back rooms. It didn't alleviate the pressure on either one of them all that much, but Luella did her best to help by turning on one of the TVs to provide background noise and snuck her Shellos a pretty red rock made out of glass in case he wanted to try wooing his date with a gift. In another room, the Masquerain and Shuckle pair didn't seem all that familiar or interested in the routine, but she kept them well-fed with peeled oranges and sliced apples and mentioned that they could 'escape' the room if they wanted to explore the Aquarium for a date, with the condition that they had to avoid the security guards at all costs.Needless to say, neither Pokemon was quite that daring, and decided to keep their evening quiet and relaxing.

[ A Long Road to Friendship ]
'...This is gonna cost me my job, isn't it?' Luella's eyes began to twitch after another failed attempt at breeding the Aquarium's Skrelp with one of her own, and after watching them freeze up in opposite sides of the tank, she eventually sighed in frustration and let them nuzzle back into their original Pokeballs. No matter how many times she tried it, the Aquarium Pokemon were skittish beyond recognition. Even the Pokemon that she worked with on a daily basis suddenly had their personalities twisted into another dimension, and she was lucky enough if they'd pop out of their hiding spots to accept any edible offerings that she tossed into the clear waters.
Even the Clamperl that she carried around like a stuffed teddy bear refused to pop open her shell and greet her with a cheery smile. After all the time she spent working on getting Echo 'out of her shell', so to speak, this sour jerk had to go and shut everyone out without a warning. To be honest, noticing all these backward steps in their relationship was starting to piss her off. "Echoooo...come on, pretty girl. Don't you ever get tired of admiring the inside of your shell?" As she tried to coax Echo out to act as an ice breaker for the Trapinch and Shuckle she was trying to breed, thunder crashed overhead, leaving behind an unnerving rumble that left Echo's shell rattling in Luella's arms. Poor thing. She was starting to feel guilty for forcing Echo into this gig.
On the bright side, the Pokemon she borrowed from Danny didn't seem too overwhelmed from the storm going on outside. As long as they were kept indoors, they were almost as relaxed as Luella was on a sunny day. Last Luella checked, the Gardevoir and Stunfisk pair were about the same, even if the Gardevoir seemed pretty appalled to be going on an Aquarium date with a Stunfisk covered in a rainbow colored assortment of ribbons that decorated each of his fins. Maybe he looked ridiculous, but it was Luella's attempt at helping the Stunfisk stand out as the ideal suitor while hoping that Echo would eventually clamp open and tell her off for putting other people's Pokemon through her ridiculous date ideas.
But nope. All Luella got to see was a pretty blue shell that came to life whenever it was time to eat or drink. Nothing else. So boring. So sad. You knew it was bad when Google failed you in your time of need, and Luella was forced to resort to the advice of the Bubble Dome staff, who recommended to keep things as quiet, stable, and safe for her water types as possible. Doing that meant keeping Pokemon like Echo under close watch, and if they all needed a little one-on-one time, then so be it.
Once the Trapinch and Shuckle pair were occupied with a meal and some game ideas, Luella sulked off with Echo in tow, dragging her legs through the halls and bumping into the Gardevoir and Stunfisk pair along the way. Unfortunately for them, when all the fish were hiding, the Bubble Dome's romantic aura was kind of dead. But at least the lighting and the decorations still kind of made their date worthwhile, it seemed. Good for them. Luella was rooting for at least one egg out of them. "Well...we can have a friend date of our own. Who needs boys?" Luella piped up once the potential couple was out of hearing distance, striking a conversation with the silent shell in her arms until she settled down in a quiet booth at the Red Bream Chain. Was it a bad idea to bring a water-dwelling Pokemon here to relax when the scent of cooked fish was in the air? Well...yeah. Yeah. It was pretty bad. But Luella stuck to ordering herself a fruity, alcohol-free drink and sneaking the straw inside Echo's shell whenever the Clamperl was curious enough about the change in sounds and smells to crack open her shell.
The sugary drink was a small attempt at patching things up with Echo, but Luella hoped that after some time, these small attempts would eventually start stacking on top of one another until Echo was ready to open back up again.

nineteen - twenty one
i tried to write about your eyes but i ran out of cliches, i tried to say you plainly but there wasn’t enough truth, whoever invented this language didn’t anticipate you.
Every bug type trainer knew that you weren't worth your salt until you had a Shuckle. In fact he'd been searching pretty much high and low to find one since for some reason he hadn't been able to run into one in the wild on one of his bug hunting trips. That was until he'd heard that one of the breeders around town actually had access to a shuckle and would probably breed him one if he paid up enough money for it. He was a little big tight on cash but that didn't really matter. He could just scrounge up the change from the couch and take some out of his savings in order to pay for it. After all having a Pokemon like that made it worth it in the end. It took a bit of asking around at the aquarium before he finally found her and it looked as though she was enjoying herself, sharing a drink with a clampearl.
He really needed to bond with his Pokemon a little more but taking bugs out in public usually got mixed results. "Are you Luella? I'm sorry to interrupt you but I wanted to see if I could purchase a Shuckle egg from you?" What if she didn't want to sell him one now that he'd interrupted her bonding time with the clampearl? It would be somewhat devastating. Not because he couldn't just work harder to find one in the wild, or even another breeder, but because as a gym leader he generally needed to be liked. That and he really couldn't stand being the reason why someone's day and relationship with their Pokemon got ruined just because he had the need for a particular one of his own. He needed to stay cool calm and collected though, he couldn't show that his anxiety was through the roof just from this minor thing.

Expecting to have a nice, quiet evening with her Clamperl close to her side, Luella didn't think much when she happened to meet eyes with what she assumed was another patron to the Red Bream Chain. It was natural to be at least a little curious about the people that dined around you, at least if you wanted to confirm that you weren't under or over dressed for the occasion. Figuring that the eye contact was nothing more than coincidental, she took another greedy sip of her drink while feigning ignorance of the widening opening in Echo's shell. If she dared to look at the Clamperl directly, Echo would simply retreat into her shell. Sure, she was a shy little thing, but the Clamperl's nerves were never this bad back in Hoenn.
Then an unfamiliar voice called out to her, and when she heard her name, she half-heartedly turned her head and casually chewed the straw in her mouth. Well, this was a surprise. He seemed like a nice enough guy, and judging from his uncertainty, it wasn't as if she forgot about meeting him after a couple of drinks at the bar. "That's me." She nodded with a final slurp, wrapping up the rest of her drink so she could hear him out. She didn't know what to make of him, other than his scraggly appearance made him look like a disheveled teenager, but as long as he was interested in buying an egg from her, who even cared about how people looked when precious dots did all the talking? "Ah, yeah. I have two in stock. Must've seen my blog, right? One moment." Not wanting to keep the guy waiting, she fiddled with her wallet to leave her server a tip so she could grab Echo and head towards one of the Aquarium's storage rooms.
She motioned for Garrus to follow her, figuring that if he put in the effort to find her in the middle of some Luella-Echo downtime, it must've been an important request. "I'm selling those Shuckle eggs for 15 dots each. Uhm...if personality means anything, the father seemed pretty mild. I'm sure they won't cause too many problems if they're raised right." Not that she was particularly experienced with bug types, but the aquarium had enough Surskit and Masquerain skirting about so she could at least skim through a few picture books to learn more about them. She figured that Danny's Shuckle wasn't too different from the Aquarium's buggers, so it didn't hurt to act like she knew what she was doing.
"Ah...the mother was a Trapinch, by the way. So they should know some kind of ground move, but...I forgot which one." She knew she wrote it down online, and that's what mattered most. She continued to comment on the Shuckle/Trapinch pairing until she unlocked the door to the storage unit, and since there weren't too many eggs in the quiet, dimly lit room, she was able to find the Shuckle eggs with ease. "Got it. Can't mistake that coloration." Carefully removing the Shuckle egg from the warmth of the lights and heating pads, she returned to Garrus's side with a polite smile. "Still interested?" She opted to hold onto the egg and Clamperl until he was able to prepare the necessary dots, and once the transaction was complete, he was free to enjoy his new Shuckle egg.

While Luella was handling business Luella things, the lack of chemistry between the Stunfisk and Gardevoir was painfully apparent. Baby Dragon could tell just by looking at the two as she quietly tottered behind them, legs trembling as if they couldn't decide what direction they wanted to move in as the chubby Spinda continued to tip toe after them. Like Echo, she was one of Luella's chemistry assistant Pokemon that was meant to act as an ice breaker when the time called for it. And judging from the Gardevoir's repulsed shudders each time the Stunfisk attempted to show off by doing the worm across the the various tunnels in the Bubble Dome, it was clearly time to break in the power of the romantic mushrooms. Luckily Luella had prepared for the lack of affection between the amorphous pair beforehand by giving the Spinda a tiny tote bag to carry a single shroom around when the time called for it, and with a determined hum, Baby Dragon broke the shroom in half and tottered after the couple with an ecstatic cry. <Suuuuuuup, losers? Hey. Hey. You wanna know the new 'in' thing for Pokemon to do? It's to share shrooms! Yeah, hey. You know if you manage to eat it all and swallow at the same time, you'll get a wish granted. It's like, AHmazing, right?> The Spinda chattered, waving each broken piece of the romantic mushroom in each of her paws while the Gardevoir and Stunfisk looked at each other with doubtful, scrunched up expressions.
Since the two weren't eager to accept food from a stranger, Baby Dragon casually helped them out like the nice Pokemon she was by gently stuffing the mushroom down their throats. She even helped them chew it by guiding them through the motions. Luella would've been proud to see such a moment. Hopefully the sweet, savory taste of the romantic shrooms would be enough to lighten the mood between this unlikely pair.

Heath was rather pleased that he had found another egg he had been looking for. Well, he wasn't really looking for it, but he still had really wanted it when he found out about it. He loved Bug types, and his own collection of pokemon was fairly small. Even after a rather successful trip out catching pokemon, and making friends with a fellow breeder, after distributing some of the Pokemon he only had four. Other than the little Happiny, all of those had been gifts or ones he had bought. It made him feel sort of bad, because he felt like he really needed to get on top of things and work harder to be a better Breeder. He would never impress Garrus at this rate, after all, so he needed to hurry and get better!
Which was why Heath was here, at Mama Cider's Daycare, to pick up the Shuckle egg. As far as he knew, not a lot of people actually bred shuckle, so it was kind of a big deal to get one. He hummed lightly as he approached the little shop, van?, and knocked on the door. "Hi there! I called about the Shuckle egg?" He said a little timidly. He offered the dots he had promised and was handed the egg back. He was pleased by it, so he quickly tucked it away for safe keeping in his bag."Thank you very much."
