A strangely out of place looking spot in Tynntil town hosts the bug type gym. It doesn't look like much but in order to find the gym leader you'll have to find your way to the courtyard where the battle will take place. If you pay attention to your surroundings its rather easy to find your way through, otherwise you'll be stuck battling spider webs and dead ends in order to make it through. All path's eventually lead to the gym leader but if you don't want to be exhausted by the time you get to him paying attention would be your best bet. A hint, look for the small bee carvings. They mark the correct way to go.
Unfortunately though the gym is closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays so that the gym leader can work on getting the place back in order for more challengers and to repair whatever damage might have been done. If you do manage to catch it open though and challenge the gym leader you'll be battling in a courtyard that even includes a mid sized pond to accommodate those with water Pokemon who try and challenge him. It's asked that you don't try and damage the arena too much because the gym doubles as the gym leaders home and trying to replant everything that gets destroyed isn't easy.
Rules for the gym are simple. Challengers can choose between a 4 vs 4 or 6 vs 6 double battle. There are no substitutions except ones that are made by moves that switch Pokemon out naturally such as volt switch or baton pass.
