Welcome
Mama Cider's Daycare ● Accessible & Affordable ● "We have air conditioning." - Luella B.
Services
Welcome to Mama Cider's DayCare (MCDC), a business on a permanent road trip that's run by Luella B., a freelancing Pokemon Breeder from Hoenn. You can contact Luella from her webpage, via email, or if you happen to see her camping outside of your local Pokemon Center. Luella operates her daycare services from Cider, a rusted and run-down van that's still big enough to house her and a few medium-sized Pokemon, and Mini Cider, the pop-up trailer that tags behind her like a pair of Phanpy. But don't worry about the safety of your galactic sized Pokemon, because MCDC now features tents large enough to shelter and provide privacy to your prized Pokemon. Perfect for Pokemon that have an appreciation for the outdoors! Also perfect for spoiled Pokemon that need to build some character! Specializing in aquatic breedings, MCDC also has access to the excellent breeding facilities provided by Tynntill's Aquarium, so you won't have to worry about your beloved fish going extinct any time soon.
MCDC typically resides in the parking lot of Tynntill's Aquarium, but is known to travel anywhere Cider can access. If you're ever in doubt about where Luella is now, check out her webpage for current location updates.
● Currently in: Tynntill, Aquarium Parking Lot ● ●Successful Breeding Attempts: 16 ● Weekly Breeding: 0/2

He didn’t want to be here. He didn’t want to see her. He wanted to claw his way out of the situation and pretend that it wasn’t happening, except it was happening. ”What happened to dad being on my side?” Danny paced back and forth in front of Cider, his nose crunching up in disgust when he picked up on a familiar perfume that shook goose bumps out of his arms. It was a sad day when even his father agreed that he needed to work on patching up the loose strings in his relationships, and that just had to include his birth mother. ‘What better way to patch things up than to support each other in the same trade?’ Danny could still recall his father’s matter-of-fact tone over the phone, filled with side comments about how he still wanted Danny to drop by Mossdeep since it wasn’t that far from Lilycove, and snide remarks about how being a Pokemon Trainer wasn’t a real job.
But whatever. He was doing this to get his dad off his back.
That didn’t mean that he wanted to unblock his mom’s number though, so instead, he came up with an official looking email the night before and slipped it on a piece of crumpled up scrap paper under Cider’s door. If his mom wanted to talk to him, it had to be on his terms, when she couldn’t bombard him with ‘hellos’ and ‘why don’t you talk to me anymores’ on the phone he reserved for social pleasantries. Granted, his dad and step-mom weren’t blocked, but that was because they held power in his life. He had to listen to them, at least to some degree. With Mom? Nope.
He didn’t bother to say ‘hi’, simply leaving with a small note that mentioned to contact him in case she ever needed any help with her daycare, and a side note on the back that asked her to use this email for business reasons only.

A short weekend trip in Johto's Ecruteak City had Luella alert and refreshed by the time she arrived in Lilycove. While the work week crept behind Luella's footsteps like an ominous shadow, she had at least one good day until she was put back to work at that musty, bug-ridden motel that milked her efforts for all she was worth. If she wasn't tired then, she was definitely drained into a puddle of pain and suffering by the time she hopped onto the 'Dash 'n Diner' nightshift. At least she only worked that part time job three nights a week, and she managed to catch some time off on the weekends. As terrifying as that shadow was, expanding until it reached up her legs, things didn't feel so bad once she was safe in the comfort of Cider's chilling AC. "I could sleep like this for days. Red-Eyes, please feed me in my sleep if I do." Her eyes immediately slumped and shut tight as she leaned as far back as she could into the front seat, resting to the sound of her Patrat slipping into the neighboring seat.
Sleep came easy with the songs on the radio bookmarking her worries for another day, and as a playful reggae tone shimmied into her ears, her feet began to wiggle to the beat. Red-Eyes jumped at the sudden movement in surprise, but one look at Luella's lazy, slouched form showed that she wasn't planning on waking up any time soon. Not even for her breeding business, which was something she forgot entirely until her phone started buzzing from a client's request.
She didn't immediately notice the jolly, upbeat tune, but she did notice a fuzzy Patrat stomping on her lap just so she could turn the damn thing off. "Hm? Hmmm?" Rattled, but not stirred, she rubbed the heavy ache out of her eyes until she caught Red's hostile stare towards her phone. Apparently his sensitive ears weren't fond of repetitive ringtones. Well, that was a problem he was just going to have to deal with then.
"A request...? Breeding? Huh...?" For a good five seconds, she thought that she was the one being asked to get involved in some personal breeding. The fog in her head cleared up as she started to wake up, and the message made way more sense when she remembered the cute little website Danny helped her make a few weeks back. "Says they sent the Pokeballs right to my PC. Life's so convenient nowadays." Ha, ha. No it wasn't. It was right now, in this exact moment, but the second it hit the work week, she'd have taken those words back in a second. Rolling off of her chair with her hair in a frizzy mess, she fumbled through a few cupboards until she found that crusty old laptop hidden in the back, still easy to use for all sorts of transferring arts.
Thanks to saving up a bit, she even had enough to buy one of those fancy transfer things that helped complete the trading process. She didn't have a clue how to use it, and the instruction manual was probably under layers of trash in the city dump right about now, but it was always a good time to learn something new. It didn't work right away, somehow managing to mess up and send her own Pokemon into the depths of her PC in the process, but eventually she got it right and had two new Pokeballs laying side by side.
Now this was the easy part. When it came to human breeding, she's been around that block once or twice to know how things were supposed to go down. However, she had to rely on books from the library in order to figure out how to get two unfamiliar Pokemon to bond like that in such a short period of time. It probably helped that Pokemon didn't have to be so attached to one another in order to get their buisness done, but she firmly believed that introductions were the bare minimum for a job like this.
Stepping back out into the inviting, open beach at the very end of Lilycove, she had Red accompany her as she released both Pokemon next to the gentle waves of the sea. The Swinub tentatively sniffed at the sand and cringed away from the water, taking in as much of the scenery as she could as the towering Torkoal gazed up at Luella in confusion. Both didn't recognize her, but neither were hostile enough to think that she was some random Pokemon thief that was out to hurt them. Clearing her throat in preparation for a speech, she paused when she could only spit out a feeble sentence. "Hi, I'm Luella." Ok, that was definitely not enough context to help these guys out. She pushed herself harder in order to make these guys as comfortable as they could about the situation. "Your trainers wanted me to host your honeymoon, so here I am, a hostess ready to pamper your each and every need." She tried to put on a convincing smile as the Torkoal and Swinub exchanged looks, first quizzingly looking at one another to make sure that they heard her right.
This was their what now?
Luella didn't help them much after that, instead pulling out a small beach chair from Cider's trunk and catching any tan she could get before the chill of Autumn could hit Lilycove. On the bright side, this side of Hoenn never got too cold, which was perfect for a freezebaby like her. The Swinub had to cool off in the ocean water despite her initial repulsion to the overwhelming wetness, but the Torkoal seemed to be digging it through his occassional naps in the sand. In Red's eyes, the Torkoal was getting a little too comfy tending to his own needs while the Swinub was left to her own devices, and something had to be done if these two were going to love each other long enough to have a good time. It took lots of staring and kicking for the Torkoal to even budge from the Patrat's complaints, but one he caught the Patrat's nasty Mean Look, even a big guy like him was intimidated enough to get off his ass and start a conversation with the cute little lady.
Awkward attempts were probably made under the Patrat's watchful eye, and Luella caught more sun than she asked for. In the end, it was a so-so afternoon for everybody.

After spending a few days bumming around on Lilycove Beach, Red-Eyes was the first to notice a pair of eggs buried in the warmth of the sand. If it wasn’t for mama Swinub’s protective snarl, he never would’ve noticed them. Figuring that he wouldn’t have been able to carry the eggs on his own anyways, he dragged Luella over so she could work the situation out, since separating a mother from its egg was never an easy task. Her hands received the brunt of a few Icy Winds as she coaxed the Swinub to hand them over, and by ‘coaxed’ she meant shove the angry mama roughly into the sand so she could grab the eggs and run. Sand was soft anyways, so the Swinub wouldn’t feel physical pain at least. ”Sorry, little mama. That’s the business.” Retreating to the safety of her van, she slammed the door on the Swinub’s face just long enough so she could find its Pokeball and return it. With that successful breeding under her belt, she no longer had a need for the Torkoal either.
”You both get to go home now. Hope you had fun.” She turned towards the Torkoal, who had been lazing about in the comfort of the AC as it tiredly lifted its head off of the armrest of the backseat. He didn’t seem nearly as interested in guarding his eggs as the Swinub, but Luella had a suspicion that the Torkoal had been around the breeding block a few times and knew the protocol by now. ”You did good, big guy. Have a safe trip back.” She gave him one last smile as she returned him back into his Pokeball, and after fiddling with the rusty old computer hooked up to a small outlet in her van, she managed to send them all back to their rightful owners without a hitch.
With that out of the way, Luella could work her ass off at her part-time jobs until the weekend rolled around, bringing her plenty of free time to focus on her newly discovered breeding hobby. This time, she wanted to take things into her own hands by using some of the Pokemon she caught and raised. It felt wrong to breed the younger ones that made better friends than lovers, like Baby Dragon, Red-Eyes, and Kiddo, but the Nidoran she recently caught looked as if she was old enough to breed. She didn’t have much experience with the Nidoran, but the Nidoran had stronger mature vibes than the rest of her Pokemon at least. That was one breeding partner solved, but she had a severe lack of males to make the breeding attempt work out. At the moment, Red-Eyes was the only male power she had, and she preferred keeping him around as a babysitter instead of using him for her breeding attempts. Her shortage in potential partners was quickly solved after sneaking through her son’s PC, which he kindly gave her access to as long as he could benefit from her breeding business. If she was a respectable mother and breeder, she would’ve given him an email in advance about how she planned on borrowing the cute male Deerling that he had in his possession. But why bother doing that if he had it in the PC in the first place, clearly not planning on putting it in his team any time soon?
And that was how Luella got away with casual theft, withdrawing the Deerling’s Pokeball from his PC with ease. ”This counts as scoring some grandchildren. I’m a soon-to-be-grandma, hohoho.” She laughed as she bolted back out of the van with both Pokeballs in her hands, leaving the door half-open in her excitement. Thankfully the napping Spinda that was inside was nice enough to close it for her, but that was only after waking up from feeling an uncomfortable amount of humidity raining on the Spinda’s parade, kicking the beautiful air conditioning down until the van felt as wet and uncomfortable as it was outside.
”Introduce yourselves, dahlins.” Sending out each Pokemon on opposite sides, she found it cute as the Nidoran immediately scratched at the back of her ear as a noble looking Deerling appeared with a disinterested look towards them. Recalling the Deerling’s name printed on the computer screen as she rushed to withdraw him, she found ‘Sweet Prince’ to be an awfully appropriate name. ”Sweet Prince, this is my little Dark Elf. You’re both here to get to know each other better, so please play nice.” She crouched down to meet them at eye level, not wanting to appear condescending by towering over them and barking out orders whenever her heart felt like it. <Why would I want know someone like her? Who are you? Where’s Danny? He never warned me about this.> The Deerling dug his hooves into the sand as he fidgeted around, unsure on what to make of the situation when he was as unprepared as he was.
Dark Elf immediately picked up on that tension and took offense, jumping onto all fours as she scowled at his attitude. <What, am I not interesting enough to know? I’m a city girl, so I know some of the trends, at least. So shut yer trap.> She barked back, not liking how insulting her was his first priority when he clearly had some other concerns to work on.
<Sorry? All hail your know-it-all library of trendy knowledge, princess. Can I go now?> Sweet Prince turned towards Luella to see if he could try pleading with her to take him back home somehow, but she had no intentions of doing something like that. Instead, she hugged the Deerling close and started petting his head and back, only letting go once he started to struggle and pull away. <Don’t just pet me! C’mon, lady. I got places to be. Butts to kick. Training to do. Don’t make me do pointless small talk just because your Nidoran doesn’t know how to make friends.> Sensing another glare from the Nidroran standing beside him, he retaliated with one of his own, hoping that he made things clear with his obvious lack of interest. Now if Luella was trying to hook him up with one of those gorgeous Lopunnys or Zebstrikas that teased him in his dreams, then he certainly would’ve ran out of complaints. But instead, she was pairing him with some stubby little Nidoran that was a far cry from being related to anything cute.
Luella didn’t like the thick tension she felt between the two, and had the feeling that getting them to even like each other was going to be more than a day-long project. This time, she was going to need to facilitate some positive interactions if she wanted a chance of having them share smiles with one another. ”By all means, battle each other if you wanna blow some steam. It’s not going to change your situation, though.” Judging from how the two kept growling at each other as if they were ready to claw and step all over each other, she let them go at it. Sweet Prince got cocky because of his size and tried trampling all over Dark Elf’s small backside, but her Poison Point nipped him good, and after a few Poison Fangs, she stood proudly over his fainted form with her chest puffed out with pride. She didn’t even need Luella to compliment her on her victory, but the smile she caught from Luella was a good stroke to her ego. ”Nice, Dark Elf. You’re a tough cookie. Feel better?” She asked, noting the scratches and bruises decorating the Nidoran’s body thanks to the Deerling’s attacks. Dark Elf didn’t look too beaten up, and after confirming her health with a pleased nod, Luella made sure to lather the pair with care and affection until the Deerling began to shuffle around in his sleep, roused from the pleasant sensation of a human hand slowly petting his backside.
”My kid trained you pretty well, Prince. Or maybe you were just born with that talent. Not actually sure how good of a trainer Danny is.” If their relationship wasn’t so rocky, then maybe he would’ve been more open about his daily Pokemon Trainer adventures. Nowadays, she was lucky if she could get a simple ‘hello’ from him after nagging his father about how much he ignored her. "I'm no trainer though, so maybe you can train each other. If you hate each other that much, it'll feel good to blow all that steam away. I can always have my Patrat check up on you two if need be." For now, this was her only plan on getting these two to interact with each other. If she could somehow redirect that negative tension and turned it into something positive, like training for battles, she could see them having a chance at scoring an egg or two. Neither Pokemon had a complaint with Luella's plan, and even Prince found it more productive than sitting around in a dusty computer all day.
And that was how Sweet Prince and Dark Elf spent their weekend; with Sweet Prince sharing exercise routines he picked up from Danny and Dark Elf reporting the training routines she caught trainers working on in the city, the two tolerated each other long enough to help the other out. When they couldn't tolerate each other, they always had a chance to kick the other's face in, with Luella or Red-Eyes whisking the injured into the comfort of Cider's homey interior, pampering both of them with canned lemonade and a fort made out of blankets. Whether the two got stronger from that training, Luella wasn't sure, but by the time the weekend was over, they felt less like enemies and more like rivals.

[attr="class","amberscroll"]
She wasn't her first choice, but Luella was the only one available at the time at a short notice. Recently, Amber had gotten a trade set up for a Mega Stone that was on her wish list and she needed a Breeder to complete the trade. But on such a short notice, there was only one person she could go to. Danny's mother. The two of them weren't on the best of terms, as Amber tended to think of her as an annoying step-mother who barely took responsibility, but despite their clashing personalities they got along... once in a blue moon.
Hesitating, Amber stared at her phone and sighed, dialing Luella's home number and leaving a message on her answering machine.
"Hey. It's Amber. I'm calling to request a breeding between your Patrat and someone's Absol. The Absol will be sent over soon and whatnot. I'll pay you well for the breeding so... yeah. Thanks."
Requesting a breeding between Luella's male Patrat and Vesta's female Absol (permission given) Will pay 50 dots for the breeding~

By the time Luella discovered the Nidoran Egg safely hidden in the warmth of the sand, the weekend had ended, and the Deerling’s rightful owner had left her a massive wall of text in complaint for ‘kidnapping it without his consent’. Now that was a crude way to put it, but Luella responded with a short two-line reply as she sent the Deerling back, figuring that Danny would get over this kind of thing as he always had in the past. Maybe sending him ‘lol, sorry. Taking your Lillipup next btw’ wasn’t the best way to patch up the mishap, but her kid had a difficult time telling her ‘no’, and she took full advantage of it.
Overcome with a sensation Luella liked to call the ‘Breeder Kick’, where the symptoms consisted of trying to get out of work early to look up breeding tips and the desired Pokemon on people’s wish lists, feeling like she’d be better off quitting her jobs now so she could focus more on her life as a breeder, and spending her nights building forts out of pillows and blankets for the eggs she was trying to hatch. Sure, she didn’t have too many to look after, but knowing that they could hatch while she was away at work left her uneasy. For those uncomfortable moments where she had an impeding sense of doom where an egg could hatch the moment she looked away, she hired her reliable Patrat and down-to-earth Nidoran to handle babysitting duty.
Thinking that it was time to start reorganizing her schedule, Luella had the great idea of letting some of the smaller Pokemon chill out with Cider as she worked her ass off in the day, it gave her Pokemon time to warm up to one another until she could watch them over the weekend. It was a great idea in theory, until she casually mentioned it to a Pokemon Fan Club member at work, and they threatened to report her if she went through with it. So that was a plan shot dead before it had a chance to breathe.
”Back to the usual weekend antics then. Think you can handle this, Elf?” Back on the familiar grounds of the Eastern Lilycove Beach, the weather was rapidly getting colder, and while snow in Lilycove (and much of Hoenn) was rare to see, it was still too cold for Luella’s tastes. A life on Dewford’s sunny beaches offered incredible weather all year round would’ve been ideal, but clad in loose yoga pants and a baggy sweat jacket, Luella could only groan and deal with the low 60 weather presented to her. In contrast, the antsy Nidoran hastily grooming behind her ears found the Hoenn climate much nicer than what Johto had to offer. Now Johto’s Autumns could get mighty cold when they wanted to, so Dark Elf appreciated the change. ”This one has a cute name. Leeroy, let’s have a play date.” Dark Elf knew the game when Luella put an emphasis on the word ‘date’, immediately standing upright after fixing the pretty red bow Luella clipped to her right ear to show her little darling off.
Unlike the distant and difficult to deal with Deerling’s moment of confusion, the Lillipup had a heads up in advance about his vacation with ‘Granny Luella’ and wagged his tail in greeting. He was a shaggy little thing, but he still looked better kept than the raggedy Snubbull Luella had. ”Ohhh, he’s cute. I like him.” Not that she wanted to keep the two Pokemon from getting to know each other, she couldn’t help but hop onto her lap and invite the Lillipup over for a couple of affectionate pets and belly rubs. Dark Elf got nothing but the cold shoulder until Luella happened to notice her rejected snivels and whimpers staring at her backside. All that hype just to be ignored—of course she was bitter about it.
”Leeroy, Elf, have fun.” Setting the Lillipup back on the sand and giving him one last pat on the head, her phone started beeping a familiar ringtone that she set for family, whistling a friendly tune until she picked it up. Of all people, she was hardly expecting her not-step-niece to ask for a breeding. Unfortunately she only caught what was on her answering machine, but she was hasty to retreat and return the call, leaving Leeroy and Elf to get acquainted as she ran to check on the Absol that was sent over. Turns out she had another message waiting for her by the time she hopped back into Cider, and she assumed it was from the Absol’s owner, because they mentioned offering the Absol as payment for the breeding.
Yippie-kai-ay, today she just reeled in the big one.
”Hey, Red. Comb yourself a little, will you? I got a girlfriend waiting for you.” Swift to pounce onto the driver’s seat, she hovered over the snoozing Patrat and poked him awake as roughly as he liked to poke her awake. It was more satisfying than she liked to admit, but at least Red-Eyes could chase her fingers away with a painful Crunch to get her to stop. The Patrat was fairly disoriented as Luella scooped him out of the chair, forcing him to sit nice on one of the back seats so she could comb him up and give him a dash of cheap cologne to hide the scent of a mud-coated rat. So much was going on, and by the time Red-Eyes could fully wake up, he was on another part of the beach with an unimpressed Absol standing by his side, scoffing at the cheesy bowtie that was plastered with obnoxious smiley faces. In all ways, this Absol was totally out of his league, and he didn’t normally care for this kind of thing, but the girl was gorgeous. It was a good thing that Red-Eyes had an entire weekend to impress her, because he needed all the time he could get to leave any kind of decent impression on the poker-faced Absol. It didn’t help that Leeroy and Elf were already getting pretty cute and cozy with one another, immediately leaving him in the dust with his relationship problems.
”And while they do that, we’ll watch our sitcoms and bring out snacks. It’s a good life, right girls?” With her Igglybuff and Spinda snuggled together on her lap, Luella made herself comfy in front of the pitifully sized TV screen that balanced between the armrest in front of them. The size was bad, the static was bad, and the audio liked to fade in and out, but damn, was the content funny when they could actually understand what was going on.

After blowing Mama Cider’s profits off on Yu-Gi-Oh cards for a local tournament, the shackles of responsibility struggling to grasp her arms and legs to the workplace were easily slipped out of as she neglected her Pokemon Breeder duties to get into the competitive scene. Naturally, she lost with falling colors to an 8 year old with a snot problem, but she managed to get a cool sticker out of the whole thing for participating in the event, and that was a victory in her books. Much to her furry family’s torment, instead of being fed with the chatter and static of a portable TV to keep them company, Luella recounted the tension and wit displayed by each of her opponents as she held up a card in her dragon deck to explain each move. Of course, none of them understood what the hell she was talking about, and none of them cared to listen. Only Red-Eyes Black Dragon feigned interest while tiredly nodding his head at each pause, giving her just enough of a reaction to keep her content for the rest of the one-sided conversation.
Red-Eyes soon found himself pleading for the boring droll of card talk when Luella started to pester him about his relationship with the cute Absol lounging outside of the van. ”I’m just saying, she’s cute. Sure, she might be out of your league, and you’re just a rat, but a job is a job.” She stated as she downed the last of a peach fruit cup, one of many various food-in-cup items stashed in Cider’s cupboards for easy eating. ”Vice Dragon isn’t a scary dragon. She hasn’t bit me yet, so that’s a good sign. I think she’s bored though.” Gazing out the glossy window, she caught the typical November scene of several of her Pokemon bundled up in scarves as they played in the sand. While most of her Pokemon were young and eager to show off, that Absol was something else. Vice looked old, and Luella didn’t just think that because the Absol’s fur was white with age. There was a sense of maturity and experience displayed whenever the Absol kept the others from getting into trouble, having a greater sense of consequence than the rest of her Pokemon had combined, save for maybe Red-Eyes.
But even her Patrat was fairly young, and Luella suspected that his youth might’ve been a bit of a turn off for her Absol’s respectable tastes. Red-Eyes looked jittery as his head turned to the window and back to Luella, shuddering in anticipation until she finally spoke. ”Yeah, you need a mature look. Give the Patrat a pipe and robe, like one of those PlayPlay Lopunny guys in the big mansion. Ladies like a little intelligence too, so use a big word every now and then. ‘Antiquing’ sounds fancy. Say that, and her heart’s bound to pound.” It all sounded silly to her, and even Red-Eyes found it ridiculous as she laughed and pinched his cheek, wiggling the skin up and down until he slapped her off. As if they had any of those tacky accessories on hand anyways, and his vocabulary wasn’t the best thing out there either. What did ‘antiquing’ even mean anyways? Was it really that easy to make a girl swoon to his feet?
Of course not. He didn’t believe it, but it was the only plan that came to mind when Luella dragged him to the Absol’s side to ask them to drop off a few letters to the local mailbox. Even if her first few suggestions were ridiculous, at least something simple like this could give the two a private enough moment to get the rat and the princess closer together.
In other news, a new request recently came in that granted her the temporary use of a striking Cacturne that could barely fit under Cider’s roof and a stunning Roserade that looked awfully small in comparison. From what she understood, a third party got the trainers of each to donate a Pokemon to the cause, and after returning each Pokemon to their original owners, someone was going to be a happy customer. Due to the Cacturne’s awkward height and painful spikes, Luella quickly found out that attempting to shove the giant cactus out of Cider’s door was a painful idea for all parties involved. She had to return the poor thing back into its Pokeball in order to let it back out onto the warmth of Lilycove Beach. The Roserade seemed awfully amused about the whole ordeal, stifling her laughs with a dainty red rose as she peered from behind Luella’s legs. ”Sorry about that. I’m used to smaller Pokemon, so…didn’t expect that.” She actually felt embarrassed about that one as she nervously scratched the side of her neck, but the Cacturne looked like the forgiving sort, even if he had to endure a couple of laughs from the Roserade’s amusement.
”So, your trainers asked me to look after you two for the weekend. I want you two to get along and enjoy each other’s company. I don’t mind if you explore or whatever, but try to stick to the beach if you can. That’s the only ground rule I can think of, really.” The trainers she worked with must’ve all been fairly decent, because the Pokemon she received rarely misbehaved to the point of earning a complaint. In fact, the only Pokemon to do such a thing were the ones she raised personally. Funny how that worked out.

Erin had been peacefully drinking her afternoon tea, a strong cup of earl grey, while leafing through the news, when a particularly strong gust of wind that came inside through the open window distracted her from her reading. She would look up, spot a few leaves sneaking into her room by riding this very wind, and be reminded of the breeding request she had placed on Mrs. Mynn's ranch a week ago. Blue eyes widened in shock. Request which she had so happened to forget all about until now. Until she'd noticed those leaves gently falling down. Oh, my. How negligent of her.
"Byssum, dear, would you close that window for me?" she asked her musharna, as she carefully put her teacup down and reached for a small, white device and started typing up a message for the blonde breeder. In this message, she'd apologise for the delay in contacting her, all the while wondering why the young lady hadn't been given any news regarding the breeding to begin with. Erin'd also add that the payment for the budew egg had already been sent as a transaction to her bank account, and many thanks were given for the extra help, seeing as this breeding had nothing to do with the aquarium she had first approached Mrs. Mynn about.

When the results of the week were tallied up, Luella had much to think about when her little Spinda tripped over a Budew egg that happened to be lodged in the sand. Where the egg came from, Luella wasn’t entirely sure, but she liked to think that Santa was kind and granted her a favor a bit earlier than usual. After all, it was an egg for the daughter of a friend, and she was more than willing to stay on good terms with the two of them. Carefully wrapping the delicate egg in a cotton blanket, she whisked the egg straight into the comfort of Cider’s cool interior. Her Igglybuff curiously poked and probed at the egg as she propped it up against the backseat, even buckling the tyke up until she could focus on sending a message to her hopeful client.
It was good timing on Luella’s part, because her phone happily chirped in greeting the moment she picked it up. It surprised her at first, but as Erin’s name flashed and buzzed excitedly on her screen, she had a hunch on what the message was about. Sure enough, it was a wall of formalities that her phone broke apart into multiple texts, but thankfully her phone didn’t screw up the order of each text, and all was well. Breaking into a grin at her success, her fingers clumsily walked all over each other as she sent out a hasty reply, unable to resist bragging about yet another success as a newbie breeder from Lilycove.
[TEXT TO "ERIN": No dont worry urself a single sweat about it. & good timing cause I just got the buduu egg u wanted. Many thanks 4 ur bizness. Ill message you about aquarium eggs soon. Take care now]
It was a sloppy message in comparison to Erin's formal elegance, but there was a certain charm to the whole 'chatspeak' thing that Luella couldn't get enough of. It was cute, trendy, and it was the only time she wasn't required to give a shit about anything her English teacher taught her. And thank god for that, because it's been way too many years since she last stepped in a school, and she sure didn't care to anytime soon. When it came to making good impressions, she only bothered to type somewhat decently on her website, and according to Danny, there weren't nearly as many typos as he expected while proofreading the damn thing. Which was great news on her end, because that meant that school wasn't such a waste of time after all. Goodie.
With one success came yet another failure, and Luella turned her head to the sulking Patrat that tucked himself into a ball underneath the cover of the front seat. Something had happened on his last outing with the Absol she kept trying to set him up with, and she was starting to feel bad for the sudden drop in the Patrat's confidence. "You'll get her attention eventually. Maybe in a few years, when you're tall and strong. Right now you're just pudgy and grumpy." Falling onto her knees and tilting her head onto its side, she had to scoop Red-Eyes Black Dragon back out as if she was playing cat and mouse, and thankfully the mouse wasn't putting up much resistance. Sitting upright with the squishball of a Patrat plopped onto her lap, she thoughtfully scratched behind his ears as she mulled over a couple of ideas on how to push this golden match in heaven into having one good night of fun.
"I got it. We need to get you some stilts. Or...or I have a spare pair of high heels that could add a few inches." The suggestion had Red-Eyes whirling his head around with an irritated scoff, and in fear of having her hand bit, she retracted it and started to play with her hair instead. Twirling a long lock of hair around her fingers, she waited until Red-Eyes turned away, finally getting back to a much needed pet-and-talk session. "I got it. We blindfold her, and set you two up on a date. Then she wouldn't have to LOOK at you per say, and--" She never realized how hard it was to talk over something that was constantly growling at her, and even though the Patrat was going through a sensitive time, she didn't care for his attitude. "Don't take it out on me. I don't hear you coming up with ideas with your 'Patrat rat scat'." She flicked his ear for good measure, and while it didn't calm his growls, at least Luella felt better about her self.
She'd have to spend more time with her Absol to figure things out on the other end of the problem, but for now, she continued to push the two to spend as much time as possible on the beach without interruption from pestering teammates.

With a cluster of winter holidays creeping around a city that only knew rain and sunshine for a majority of its lifespan, Luella expected a drop in breeding requests due to the end of the month fervor that kept potential Pokemon owners away despite the precious Lillipup eggs she had to offer. Even the most relaxed of the students that often walked by her daycare to relieve stress was fixated on studying a day or two before exams. People were so busy around this time of year, and even during her new day shift as a salesclerk, she couldn’t escape the pressure that clouded her thoughts and probed her to move forward like an overzealous parent. And not even a good parent at that. Work was already a bore of a chore, and she was even considering turning the rest of the weekend into a no-work, no-move kind of situation, where everyone had to fend for themselves while Luella slept her stress away. It was a beautiful thought, but her phone interrupted her plans with the temptation of a little extra cash to spoil herself with.
She almost didn’t accept the breeding, noting that her Absol was stuck in a finicky rut ever since the last breeding success with her Patrat, but again. Money. Money meant wasting less time working multiple jobs, and if she wanted to earn that sleep-all-day lifestyle, she had to work her way up there bit by bit, assuming her tired muscles allowed the extra effort. On a positive note, her breeding hobby didn’t take too much effort when most of her Pokemon did the work for her. “Poor Red. He’s usually the referee, but...this is a little too awkward of a job for him.” Sprawling all of the Pokeballs in her possession onto Cider’s backseat, she mulled over which Pokemon to designate as the fight-breaker-upper, or in plain words laid out in a brick by brick format, a baby sitter.
Out of all of her Pokemon, she decided to leave the task as an escort/referee/babysitter up to her Spinda, who was about as familiar with the whole breeding business as she was. Once a small computer started to buzz and whirl from a desk stuffed into the back of the van, she sent out her Spinda to brush up on their game plan. ”And we have our suitor over here. Vice’ll like him. Maybe. She’s so picky, you know…” The Smeargle’s Pokeball fit snug and comfy into Luella’s hand as she presented it to the Spinda to sniff, and at Baby D’s nod of approval, she continued. “Try to keep them busy if you can. Don’t get in their way, but give them things to do. Vice’ll know what’s up, and she might…well, she might try to rebel in her own way. She’s my big heart breaker, you know? But we’ll try to make this work.” Patting Baby D’s head for luck, she hopped out of the world of fresh air conditioning and into a world of what-the-fuck-why-am-I-leaking-sweat-it’s-November.
There was something precious about the way Pokemon reacted to seeing one another for the first time, and when the Smeargle and Absol were released simultaneously, she muffled a laugh at the Absol’s sudden break in composure. Adorning an expression that hoped and prayed that the situation wasn’t what she thought it was, Vice immediately turned to the Spinda for answers, but all she got in response was a mischievous chuckle. Clearly this wasn’t a good sign. ”Hey, fellas. Vice, this is Raphael. Raphael, this is Vice Dragon, but we call her Vice for short.” It was so much fun having the power to name things whatever she pleased, and hey, anything could be a dragon if it wanted to be. Nobody could stop her now. ”If you need anything, ask Baby D over here. She’ll help if you need anything.” With those parting words, she left the three to work out their plans, and while Vice kept shooting Baby pleading eyes to get her out of gawky date city, the Spinda feigned obliviousness and waved them off.
