"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
"Come on guys! We need to set this up fast!"
Yumi had gotten special permission from the local pokemon center to unleash a bunch of her pokemon at once, so long as she kept them around slateport's beach. With the money the red head had earned from some minor publicity, such as interviews and rights to show her image in advertisements for the TV airings of the recent tournamnet, Yumi had rented out some space on the beech for the next few days, and she had a big plan on how to use it. Already her tougher pokemon were setting up signs and stands for drinks and so on. Any normal person may expect she was setting up a store for all your summer beach needs, but as soon as the final sign stood, held tight between two towering poles standing straight into the air, the true nature of all this preperation would become clear.
Yumi was holding a beach battle tournament!
Maybe it was a way to spend money she'd never find a use for in some ways, but truly, Yumi wanted to see what some new trainers had to offer. She'd realized since her own battle with Elinda she still had a bunch to learn, and to learn, she needed to watch some other trainers in the act. What better way then this! As edwardo began pouring some refreshments for the possible entrants and audience, Ko-ken and Oscar continued setting up the shaded areas with umbrellas and canvas roofs suspended by poles, Yumi stood proud beside Tequill, he big hit from the official tournament.
Grabbing a megaphone, she'd begin to shout out, while Rodrigo and Vashi, her Noivern and rufflet respectively, began to fly out, carrying blags of fliers to spread all over the towns of the region.
"Come one come all! Has your summer been nothing but laying in the sun, resting your lazy butt down after a hard years work, and swimming in the cool refreshing water? BOOOORING! WHy not entertain yourself with a battle or two! Brought to you and hosted by the semi finalist of this years league tournament, Yumi Tasukai's BEACH BATTLE BANZAI is accepting participants. Win beach glory, beach fame, and beach wealth, or rather, REAL WEALTH! Everyone has a chance to win, and the grand prize? You can gain the sacred gem that will allow you to evolve your pokemon beyond their normal limits! Impossible you say? Well-!"
Throwing her wrist to her front, revealing her bracelet to anyone whose attention had already been caught, she pressed her fingers to the gem adorned apon it. In a burst of flames, her blaziken had somehow evolved, roaring out confidently beside her as it took it's mega form, showing it's power by unleashing a flurry of blazing kicks.
"I hope this should prove otherwsie! So come one, come all, and sign up for Yumi's BEACH BATTLE BANZAI!"
Angel was more excited then she could find words to come up with. Sure, she wasn't the best at coming up with fancy words but still.. this was pretty exciting. Slateport. She was so far from home too. She made a mental note not call her mother, despite having permission for this sort of thing. Permission was one thing, but actually faced with the fact that her daughter was halfway across the world.. her mother's heart might break.
Still it wasn't time for worrying about silly mom's and dad's, it was time for fun! Angel had only been at a beach like, once in her whole life. In fact she had to borrow this pretty basic and plain one-piece-swimsuit for the occasion. It looked like something that kids taking classes would wear, and wasn't as fun as it could be but hey.. it was something! However she made a point to buy an inner tube. Nothing was better for beach fun then a floatie. She was only slightly embarrassed she was still using one at 10 years old too.
So relaxing at the beach, enjoying the feel of sand in between her toes and making just the spitting image of a Tuber, Angel Dalton was witness to the energetic lady start setting up for her big event. A very curious young lady like Angel couldn't help but be a bit nosey given the circumstances as well, and was glued to the scene. When she started shouting out though..
The strange thing her Pokemon surprised and amazed Angel. Pokemon could do that kind of thing? She wasn't even quite sure what had actually happened. Still, she knew it was pretty amazing. Although she had butterflies in her stomach, this was pretty amazing. A beach tournament? She thought about her Pokemon. Some of them.. Wonder Bird in particular seemed to love battling. This was something they wanted right?
Could a Pokemon she have do that sort of thing that she had seen? Would it be fun for them? There seemed to be more questions then answers.. but lately she had felt that the only want to answer questions was to try things out. It worked when meeting friends, so it should hopefully work with this too.
She could give this a try.. it seemed like something she would need if she really wanted to figure out if being a Pokemon Trainer was really what she wanted out of her life. She didn't think she had a chance of winning.. but still. It could be really fun.
Yeah.. she would give it a try. What's the worst that could happen?
Summer was coming about. Rikkan's favorite season, and he was finally returning to Orre. Apparently they were making a long stop in Slateport for some reason, though, and he had a lot of time to kill. So, donning a different outfit for the day, he set out for the beach, pokeballs in tow. Since he was headed for the beach, he wore, in traditional white, a pair of shorts, his pair of sandals, and the haori, if only to cover up his arms for certain reasons. His chest remained bared, revealing a myriad of large old scars over tanned muscle.
The scent of the ocean wasn't all that great for the white ranger, he much preferred the dryness of the desert, but all the same there was sand nearby to enjoy. With a snap-hiss, Rune was out with Rikkan jumping onto his back as they sped off, faster than vehicles, on their way to the beach. The warm sand was a welcome feel beneath Rune's great paws as they finally made it to the sandy expanse to behold the vast blue ocean beyond. Rikkan jumped off Rune's back and opted to leave the Fire type out and enjoy the sand.
Lo and behold, what would reach the veteran fighter's ears, but the call to battle. An announcement by a scantily clad redhead further down the beach, speaking with a megaphone, clearly wanting many people to hear. He and Rune moved closer as the redhead spoke, becoming interested in this tournament, but what really got his attention was the drastic change in her Blaziken when she proved her claim about a stone that could amplify a Pokemon's power.
He could verily tell that the Pokemon's power had been drastically increased just by looking at it. He had an eye for acute detail, and could judge a Pokemon's skill by the way they move, or don't move, and this one practically exuded skill, strength, and agility. With a glancing thought, he eyed Rune, wondering if this could be used on the great wolf, turning a powerful beast into an even greater threat to any opponent. He'd definitely get some recognition among the gym leadewrs with that. But even so, he didn't need a trinket to know his power.
If he won, it would be a nice little tool, and if he lost, it was no big loss to him.
A pair of dark shades moved ever so slightly south as her head tilted forward, violet eyes gazing over at the sudden commotion. Just who did this redhead think she was? This was supposed to be a nice, quiet beach. A light harrumph left her supple lips as she turned her head away for a moment to adjust herself. Adela was just going to have to grin and bear it.
The blonde turned the upper half of her body, her brimmed hat keeping her face in the constant shade it created. An ice cream moved up to her lips, playing a teasing game with her mouth as she refreshed herself with the frozen concoction. Seems like this loud girl had plans on hosting some kind of battle royal. The Courtwater girl mulled over the idea of joining such an event a few times in her head before popping the ice pop out of her mouth.

The sun was shining bright on the Slateport beach and Jason was there to take it all in. Laying in the warm summer sand, Jason put his hands behind his head and bathed in the sun beams. He had helped some girl, an attractive girl at that, with applying some sun tan lotion. Ah, yes, summer was one of the best times of the year. It let him admire the view and show off for all who were lucky enough to see. Jason's body was a sight to behold, his golden tan skin looking great and his abs as ab-licious as ever. The blond was an avid visitor of the gym and it showed, so he was glad when people commented on it. With his shades on and not a care in the world, Jason was happy.
Until he heard some crazy chick screaming, that is. Her shrill voice could be heard all through out the beach and Jason wasn't the only one who had heard the unpleasant surprise. "Come one come all! Has your summer been nothing but laying in the sun, resting your lazy butt down after a hard years work, and swimming in the cool refreshing water?" Was what had caused him to sit up in surprise. Of course that was what his summer was consisting of! What did this girl think screami- "BOOOORING!" She shrieked, bringing a groan from Jason as he tried to relax in the sand again. As he laid in the sand with an arm behind his head, he heard go on and on about some pokemon tournament. Of course, it was some crazed trainer who had some extra cash and wanted to blow it. N-O-P-E. Jason would have none of it. In fact, he was going to get going further down the beach. He stood up, gathering his sun tan lotion and beach towel, about to leave when he heard something that caught his attention. "You can gain the sacred gem that will allow you to evolve your pokemon beyond their normal limits!"
... What. He watched as he did something with her bracelet that caused her Blaziken to evolve. EVOLVE. Completely enthralled with that chance of getting to learn of that, Jason dropped the lotion and towel and pulled out a pokeball from his trunk's pocket and approached the girl. He was ready for summer and a battle for knowledge.

Having decided to go back home to unwind just for this summer (since Kalos was way too big and had a limited number of beaches), Izumi then found herself back in Slateport, the site of many things fabled and infamous. Of course, this was from her standpoint as well; seeing as this city had some pretty awesome, as well as pretty painful, memories to tell… at least on her part. She was now located on one of the farthest beach chairs, lounging in the sun, with a fancy pair of shades on while applying some more sun block all over her arms and legs. Out in the surf, her Marshtomp, Garchomp and Empoleon were happily making a mess of the waves; while Momo, her Gardevoir, was lounging beside her as well. Sora and Riku had taken to the skies and were now flying around the area, as if watching over the entire beach area from up in the sky. She was about to lie down and have a peaceful nap when someone suddenly picked up a bullhorn and then started making a racket on the beach.
Ugh, so much noise again… she thought, dropping the bottle of suntan lotion on the side table and then clapping a hand over her ears; and she then stood up and looked behind her—she saw that there was a gathering of people that were flocking around a face that she had definitely seen in Kanto, at the time of the tournament! Hey, what is she up to…? She thought to herself as she picked up her towel (which was draped across another lounging chair) and then headed over, whistling at Momo to follow her. Her other ‘mons hadn’t noticed that their mistress had now gone over to check out the source of the noise; but the next few scenes that she saw almost caused her to pop her eyes out. Whoa… wait a second, why does that look familiar?! She thought to herself as she watched a Blaziken… evolve further. It was no mistake—she was now witnessing this so-called “Mega Evolution” for real! She then thought back to her inventory of items, which she’d tossed into a locker for safekeeping—and to the stone that she’d dug up; and the same one that DJ had shown her back in Kalos.
Hoo boy, what if I go into this to find out just how to do it from her instead if I win? She thought to herself, considering her options—her attempt to ascend the Tower in Shalour City had ended in disaster; and she had decided not to return there until she had assembled a team mighty enough “to pierce the heavens”. “Heh, sign me up…” she said to herself, picking up a fallen flier and reading the details on it…

If I fall back down
you're gonna help me back
---upagain*
Don't worry about me, I'm gonna make it alright Got my enemies crossed out in my sight I take a bad situation gonna make it right In the shadows of darkness I stand in the light You see it's our style to keep it true I've had a bad year, a lot to go through I've been knocked out, beat down, black and blue She's not the one coming back for you She's not the one coming back for you*
It had been a long time since Amber had been to Slateport. The last time she was out and about was when she and her mother had came out here for a festival with her step-father. And that was quite a long time ago. However, now, she was here for herself and her Pokemon. She wanted to take a break from everything and relax on their amazing beach. That's what most people came for anyway. The Slateport beach was amazing and her Pokemon loved it. It was long and stretched out for the entire city, giving everyone and their Pokemon plenty of room.
She walked around in her swim suit and Fang followed close behind. It was then that they noticed a girl with a mega phone yelling something about a tournament she was hosting. Amber walked up with Fang and stood in the crowd, listening to what the girl had to say. "Key Stone?" She asked herself. Who ever this was hosting the tournament knew about Mega Evolution. However, that wasn't the most appealing thing to her. This tournament sounded more like a showcase than a tournament, it was more so for fun than anything. After all the stressful battles and training they had done, Amber figured her team would like a break. She glanced down at Fang who barked back happily. "Alright, then it's settled! Sign me up!" Amber said happily, grabbing one of the fliers from the ground.

'Ow Ow ow ow. Bitch I'm gonna kill you!' She tried to keep herself in check as Paige, a valiant understudy of her ways back in Avadon Academy found her. Needless to say the young wanna be had managed to become a clone of her earlier years. "But I'll be rooting for you sempai! I'll be in the bleachers cheering you on! Heck I might even give everyone at the school a call to let them know that the Ronster is back in town. You doing anything later? I'm not doing anything later. We should hang out. That's a nice rack you got now too. Totes proud of that. You should be doing the adverts for school milk you know? Did you get a boyfriend yet? How 'bout girls? Do you like girls? How's your pokemon? You still have them? Did you know I saw your performance for Ice 'n Light? That was the shit! You should be proud of yourself! You know it's totally cool to know someone like you. I can't believe that you're going to be in the Banzai contest. I hope you win. Do you know who you'll be up against yet? How 'bout what you're going to be doing?"
Yep, Ronnie was back in Hoenn. Her own personal 80 degree plus humidity hell. She wondered if her parents would bother to track her down this time. She wasn't there as a Coordinator but more so as a guest celebrity and sponsored figurehead for her new job overseas. Right now it was taking all she could to keep herself in check. The bikini bottoms she was wearing with a little glittering Kalos cargo sticker on her ass making sure to subtly catch the eye of all gawkers. Not that anyone would be looking. She still considered herself still the pre pubescent pain in the ass, the only reason she was sporting a rack was push up cup technology and a special cut top. She wondered what Kanoa was doing, if he was watching TV or got her last E-mail. Would he appreciate the view? Would he call her? Would he- "PAIGE! I'm gonna bury your head in the sand like a Douduo! Quit hitting me!"
Slateport – perhaps not his “hometown” (or should he say birthtown?), but certainly a place to enjoy. The beach, the smell of sea-breeze in the air, the feeling of the sun, the love between the land and sea, and the Coordinating Hall – all of the things that the Golden Knight would find wonderful. The people were amiable, and he enjoyed swimming with his Pokemon in the surrounding seas. He was wearing his normal outfit – it was already swimming-proof, and thus the golden breast-plate, the golden jacket, the golden pants, and the bare midriff was present, his “Gold-Seal Armor” gleaming and polished in the mid-day sun.
How delightful, for him to enjoy the sea once more. Although there was a little bit of a twinge in his mind – remorse bit at him with continuous fervor, due to his lacking of participation in the Pokemon League Tournament. A part of him knew he could have been in there, he could have done something, participated, given his Pokemon the excitement they had been missing out from for ages, but no. Nonetheless, he knew it would not be the last tournament. With a bit of a sad smile, the Golden Knight sailed towards the beach. The Wailord under him, Ba’ul, made a soft sound of re-asurement – his best friend could not be so sad. The Float Whale Pokemon carried his Trainer, his partner, to the beach, landing calmly, and leaving William to slide off the side.
The Golden Knight arrived to hear the statements of the red-haired girl. But what impressed him was the change of the Blaziken. He had never seen, or heard, of such an ability… Did all Pokemon posses it? If so, could he empower his friend, Ba’ul? He had to try. A tournament? He was the Golden Knight – he was not a proud individual, but he knew he was no weakling. There was no weakness in attempting, and if it was beach-based, that meant Ba’ul could battele. It had been ages since Ba’ul had battled!
”Dearest friend, Ba’ul! I may have found us a chance! Let us do this, friend, with joy!” Exclaimed the Golden Knight as he got off Ba’ul, moving towards the red-haired girl. The Float Whale Pokemon only responded with a calm, nice:”Waaaaaaaaiiilord~!
Caitlin hadn't visited Hoenn in a while, which was exactly why she was here today. The beaches at Slateport had been a favorite of hers during her few visits to the region. Standing on the water's edge, the waves lapping at her feet, it was a blissful sort of peace. It wasn't meant to last. Someone's voice over a megaphone blared over the ocean waves. She turned her back to the water to see what all the commotion was about. She moved her hand to shield her eyes from the sun so she could better see. She eventually gave up and just made her way to the commotion for a better view. She did so just in time to see what this evolution beyond limits was all about. Coming face to face with this evolved version of Blaziken had her immediate interest. She wanted to know how and why it was possible. She needed to know what other pokemon could possibly do it, specifically water types.
"I'm in!" Caitlin shouted as she waved with excitement. It was a chance to work with her pokemon, make a few friends, and find out whatever the secret was to that Blaziken's greatly increased power.

For hands opened all at once For eyes opened all at once
New rule - fuck Poison types. In general. They were tricky enough to deal with in the first place, usually heavily defensive, but while wild Pokemon weren't any trouble for the two older Pokemon Ryusuke was carrying on him it made it more than a little difficult for him to raise his newer ones in practice battles. He honestly hadn't been expecting to run into too many north of Slateport, especially given its location in Hoenn, but the Seviper and Gulpin had just been the start of an incoming tide - while Seviper had been handled very well by Frubbles at first there were only so many Pokemon he could take on before exhaustion kicked in, and when they just kept coming he was bound to get overwhelmed sooner or later. Granted, that was partly Ryusuke's own fault for not returning to Slateport earlier - he had been hoping that Fletchling and Ham would be able to keep them at bay, but even before the city had come back into sight the trainer had been forced to rely on his old fallback for Grovyle, Charizard. At least the Fire type had gotten something out of the mess - those had been his first battles since evolving, and the Pokemon had definitely seemed to relish the chance to exercise his new abilities on what essentially would amount to little more than target practice.
Whatever the case, it meant heading back to Slateport's Pokemon Center instead of bee lining it back to the hotel room where he and Rain were staying. Considering why they were in Hoenn it paid not to stay in public places if only to avoid her face getting splashed up somewhere on the internet, but it was going to eventually eat holes into their wallets - or his at least, he honestly had no idea how much cash she had tucked away in reserve - if they were forced to do it for much longer. Hands in his pockets, the blond would make his way down the street and towards the Pokemon Center, shooting a glance of mild curiosity towards the red head setting up outside of the building before walking in and making his way towards the front desk to leave his Pokemon with the receptionist.
Pokeballs taken and carried off towards the back room as usual, Ryusuke would turn to lean back against the desk as he settled for watching the commotion outside, the woman's antics beginning to draw a small crowd to the front of the Pokemon Center. Vaguely familiar, although exactly why Ryusuke couldn't say, nor in the end did he really care - at least not until she did whatever the fuck it was that changed her Blaziken. What was that? It looked almost like it had evolved, but that wasn't possible - it was a stage two Pokemon, the final evolution of Torchic. Of that much Ryusuke was relatively certain - he might not have been too familiar with Pokemon from other regions, but that was a Hoenn native, part of the region's signature elemental trio along with Mudkip and Treecko. Voice speaking to him from behind as the receptionist returned with his Pokemon, Ryusuke would take the balls back and reattach them to his belt before beginning to take lopsided steps towards the building's exit, pausing at the sight of a sign advertising the redhead's event.
All in all, it wasn't a bad deal - in fact, it'd kill two birds with one stone, so to speak. Aside from the perpetual money problem, the whole reason he'd been forced to the Pokemon Center was an attempt to try and train his Pokemon up, and this tournament would definitely help in that regard - even more than that, from what he was seeing people were going to get paid simply for participating, and there was still the matter of exactly what the trainer had done to her Blaziken. Worst case scenario, he'd lose but still manage to catch her before the event ended, and assuming she was open to talking and answering a question or two it wouldn't be a complete loss no matter what he did. Pulling his 'Nav out of a coat pocket, Ryusuke began dialing the number for Rain's cell phone - considering the rather sudden change of plans and the fact that he had no idea how long this was going to take, the least he could do was make sure she not to panic and call the police under the assumption that he was missing or worse, left her behind. That was not a mistake he was intending to emulate from his mother.

It was a busy day at the beach as usual, and Ricki had decided it was a good time to take a stroll. While it seemed Jason was more interested in the food stands, the spice collection of the local market, and just… Food in general, she was just going to take this chance to check out the beach. It was a couple of days before they’d have to take on the shifts of working in the Museum, so there was no need to be getting into a rush to prep for that. Making her way along, she stopped briefly to eye a wall of surfboards that had been left by their owners that seemed to be the group of boys and girls playing volleyball not much further away. Looked pretty fun.
Tilting her head to continue her scan of the beach with a curious look, her gaze would fall onto a crowd gathering not that far away. There was a surprising number of familiar faces mixed in with new ones that made her stop and stare before she’d meander over to see what all of the fuss was about. Then she looked up and spotted the big banner being hosted into the air.
A Beach Battle Tournament.
When was the last time Ricki even bothered with a Tournament? Right, that was about a year ago, her first tournament that had been a total bust for some bizarre reason. She considered the idea of heading over to this mix and match crowd with the intention to mingle, but the idea of a Tournament wasn’t entirely appealing to her. She had a job to do in a couple of days anyways, would she even have the time? Tilting her head to inspect the group as her internal debate carried on, she would practically jump out of her sandals at the voice suddenly shouting loudly over the ambience of the crowd. It would take a moment for her to even realize that the voice was familiar and a second more to click just who it was. Oh great…
Ricki glanced off to the side, pretty much ready to walk off at this point and let these trainers have their fun. Turning on her heel, she started to walk off when the words ‘REAL WEALTH’ would finally get through her thick skull. There was an abrupt freeze to her gate and she’d slowly look back with newfound curiosity as Yumi played right into a rather broke woman’s desires. Money and then… Wait, a sacred what? Evolve beyond? What the hell was she on about now—Oh.
… Holy shit.
Ricki spun around on her heel, moving like a guided missile straight for the sign up table. She’s pulled all nighters before, she could do it again if need be to do her job and participate in a Tournament for something as awesome as the kind of magic Yumi just pulled out.
