elcome Adventurer to EPOCH! A Pokemon Sandbox Rp set in the original region of Nue. Everything you need to know will be in the Guidebook and PokeDex 101!
EPOCH uses the Manga and is built on the Original ideas suggested by our members.
We are more than just a Pokemon RP, we're a friendly community with a goal on being a memorable experience for those that look in.
Golden Rule: Treat others as you wish to be treated. If you find yourself content with being an asshole EPOCH and its members will not tolerate you.
RULES
Understand We're All Human. Respect the staffers as well as your fellow members and guests. We all have flaws, tempers and quirks. Be patient with one another, but if issues involving other members come up please don’t just grin and bear it. Contact a staff member, informing them of what's going on so they can address and resolve the situation. The staff won't know what's bothering you unless you tell them.
EPOCH is PG-13. Proboards’ Terms of Service:
Sex; When you get under the clothes, fade to black.
Violence; Do not go into extreme nauseating detail.
Cursing; This is so fucking allowed, but don't go overboard.
Suggestive Content; In avatars, signatures and templates can attract the wrong kind of attention. So be careful.
There will be a Pokemon League Tournament that will begin in July/August.
There are only two entry requirements.
You must have one (1) gym badge.
You must have at least three (3) Pokemon.
This tournament is requiring a gym badge for entry in order to increase activity for gym leaders and encourage people to challenge the gym circuit.
Exhibition Matches in April
Leading up to the tournament itself will be several exhibition matches hosted by the League and broadcasted all across Nue. This exhibition matches will feature special participant pairs, such as
Gym Leader vs Gym Leader
Ranger vs Ranger
Professor vs Professor
The tournament will require the use of the Pokemon Showdown Calculator, found here. At any time, you may ask me for a tutorial on how to use this calculator. In all likelihood I will make a post describing the use of.
Tournament battle posts will require the use of detailed posts notes. Examples of include
Sandstorm 3/5 Healing Moves 1/3
Magneton 51% Hit by Shadow Sneak. Used Zap Cannon on Wobbuffet.
Scizor 68% Bullet Punch into Counter, then Roost. Night Slash on Wobbuffet.
Battle Summary: Dragonite uses Aqua Tail to turn the concrete pillar into powder, then uses Thunder to attack the Conkledurr again.
100% Atk + 2, Spd + 2 Heavy Rain 3/5 Taunted 3/3 Aqua Tail (135 base power in rain), Thunder (cannot miss in rain, 10% paralysis chance)
Battle Summary - The Eelektrik levitates above the water and fires off three Charge Beams to electrify the entire pool and damage the Staryu inside through conduction (more effective because of the chlorine ions floating inside a pool).

I think it'd be great for Danny if he could get a badge by July/August, but I think with the way his plots are set up, he's going to be spending most of his time failing the gyms and getting advice before he can make the deadline.
So if we have other options on how to get involved, I'd like to make the most of the social media boards/perhaps a spectating option so that he can still frolic in the excitement of the event and get a little familiar with everyone's faces by seeing them on tv monitors/seeing them from the perspective of an audience member. Maybe a mix of rp threads and social media fun times? All depending on whether this is going to be an option of course, hehe. @steeltypequeen
I'm definitely interested though! I especially want to see if there's ways to expand on it so more characters can get involved and have a little extra IC motivation to challenge Gyms, interact with Gym staff, and all that good stuff.
Like having breeders participate/spectate to see which Pokemon are considered valuable/amazing for competitive & what egg moves trainers might find most useful. I could have Luella sponsor a trainer knowing that the tournament is coming up and then brag about her bred Pokemon's success as advertisement for her business, for instance.

I would be 100% for opening up the Tournament in such ways that everyone can participate in some form or fashion. I would imagine that a Pokemon League Tournament would be comparable to a media event like the Super Bowl - lots of coverage, sponsors, commercials and air time. Social Media can get involved in all sorts of ways. Actually setting up the spectator / media style threads might end up being an individual-persons thing to do, but there's plenty of time to figure all kinds of stuff out on how to add in everyone and make it an in-depth site thing. #fakeadvertisementsonthebanner
Anyone's ideas on charrie involvement are welcome; the breeder example is a great ic reason for breeders to go and can probably be expanded upon into its own thing

Putting Amber Kazuki in the exhibition matches could be fun, and if you need get an odd number, I can always put in Brook Styles.
And @steeltypequeen, there's just 2 questions I have.
1. Are gym leaders able to participate in the tournament themselves, or just the exhibition matches? And do they need to have the 1 badge requirement?
2. The badge requirements, the badges required, do they need to be JUST from the Nue gyms? Because some people have old badges from the canon or Orre region.

Badges earned pre-Nue will count. Nue badges earned since the creation of Nue are preferred, of course, and those that have one badge already are encouraged to earn more. There may be a prize for having the most badges. Maybe. Who knows.

Yes, gym leaders are allowed and encouraged to participate in the tournament. Entry requirements would still apply to them, however, so they would need to have earned a badge from an official challenge to another gym leader. Badges from a gym leader's own gym, unless earned by defeating their co-leader, or by the co-leader by defeating the same gym's leader, will naturally not count. So if, for example, Madeline challenged Brook to an official gym match and earned Bosky's Ice Gym's badge, she would be able to participate, as would Brook if he earned it by beating Madeline in the same manner.
The nerd already replied your other question: badges from our old canon regions do count.

I'm ultimately going to prefer one character per roleplayer, but we'll see how signups and such go.
It would largely be awkward to have to deal with Mao vs Yumi if that happened.
I do, however, want characters of all shades to get involved in this in some form or fashion, and I'm on the lookout for ways to get everyone in on it. Birdy's suggestions were a solid start on that.

If this were the case, does that mean Bailey and Sophia would be unable to participate if Jason did? Or would they be allowed to because they'd be doing matches with ranger vs ranger or professor vs professor and there'd be no way for ever having to battle against myself.
