Travel to the Kanto region was a hassle, Charlotte had no doubts about it. A long tedious flight, to the Johto region plus a ferry to the actual destination would've taken a serious tax on a person's energy. It actually took her almost 2 days to get here without pause to rest. But those times were behind her now. In the region of Kanto, there was a location known as the Viridian forest just outside of the Viridian City. It was wooden maze with canopy so thick it barely let the sunlight in. Due to the absence of light, it allowed a myriad of Bug type Pokemon and some Flying types in return, to swarm the entire forest. It was a haven for Bug Collectors, or so she heard. However, her purpose for today was neither to capture a Bug type (in due time) nor to challenge a Bug Collector (bully much?), no she was here on another mission altogether.
As part of her "Hunting List" and a certain lack of people who were willing to catch her anything in that list for her, she had been attracted by a certain Tiny Mouse Pokémon that had been secretly swarming the forest. Pichu were known as trouble makers, as were all baby Pokemon. What she wanted them for was no small prank, but instead a hidden ability that she thought would come in-handy in the future: the Lightning Rod ability. Like a tall tree in a thunder storm, these Pokemon attracted electricity into themselves to raise their Special attacking power. If anything they also made quite the Lightning rods to gather electricity in storms. She wanted at least one that she could groom to power up the Observatory's energy reservoir, regardless of whether the said Pichu wanted to do it or not. The professor had her ways.
"Piiichuuuu!!!"
A small light and sparks revealed a yellow rodent who up on a tree, actually using it's Thundershock move to roast a couple of berries. Charlotte watched quite amusingly as it did this a couple to times in varying power as if it know how to cook. Quite impressive... She smiled as it munched on caramelized fruit. you're mine...
She needed to get his attention first, and then get it riled up. Looking around for ideas, she found two pebbles and her smile widened. With one Poke ball on her right hand, she picked up the two pebbles on her left and threw them with surprising accuracy. While she did intend to hit just the fruits, she had placed a bit more arm power on her last shot and it swerved to hit Pichu square on the face.
She chuckled. "Oops, my bad. Well, at least we have your attention now..."
The Pichu was infuriated, having been disturbed of his meal. It hopped down from the tree branch, and in all floors it glared at Charlotte with it's pink cheeks flaring with small sparks of electricity.
"Feisty! I like it..." She took out a Pokeball and released Lunatique in front of her, who jumped up and down on the ground with unnatural glee.
"Lunatique, would you like to play a game?"
Charlotte wasn't sure if she really understood what she meant, but the Cleffa became giddy when she heard the word "game" and was now more than excited.
"It's called follow the leader, 'kay?" The professor smiled warmly as she she pointed at Pichu. "There's your playmate.. right there! Are you ready?"
"Clef? Cleffaaa!!!" She took one side look at the Pichu, and then back at Cleffa and gave cry and a hop in approval. Now that the pep talk was over, they could begin...
Now that pep talk was over they were ready.
PICHU Tiny Mouse Pokémon
Ability: Lightning Rod
MOVES:
Thunder Shock
Nasty Plot
Sweet Kiss
Thunder Wave
"Piiii...chuuuu!!!" The Pichu's body was enveloped in a light blanket of sparks before it releadsed it in a long thin tower of electricity, coming straight at them. "Lunatique, jump to the side and use Magical Leaf!"
Cleffa didn't need telling, she was so giddy that she had jumped to the side way before Charlotte has said anything. The star pokemon did hear the command and jumped again out of the Thundershock's way and glowed slightly green. Landing, all the leaves she had touched on the ground rose up, all glowing with emerald energy. As soon as Cleffa started whirling around, a storm of these leaves started swerving left and right, following her every move.
The Pichu sensed the danger of the move and using it's speed, it flew past the dancing leaves to reduce the distance between them both and instead of golden sparks, Pichu charged up azure electricity all around it's body.
"Cleffa! Use the Magical Leaf move to defend yourself from that Thunder Wave.." Her instructions were clear, but how would Cleffa respond? She was very fickle, but not stupid. It was happy that Pichu was closer now, and spinning around like a ballerina, she brought the storm of emeraldine leaves to spiral around her.
"Piii??!!"
He was impressed, but not defeated yet. The electric Pokemon released jolts of blue electricity that, he hoped, would render Cleffa immobile enough to fry the star-shaped Pokemon just like the berries before. Just like Charlotte had planned, as soon as the electricity touched the revolving storm of leaves, it was carried over by the tiny shimmering leaves, leaving Cleffa unharmed and not paralyzed. Cleffa wanted to bring Pichu closer to her, and brought the spiraling tower of leaves to revolve around them. Unsure of what to do, it was slowly mesmerized by Cleffa's daunting personality. Pichu produced a heart shaped pink bubble, gave her a Sweet Kiss in the cheeck hoping it would disable her will to "play".
"What is this, a romance movie?" Charlotte murmured with an eyebrow raised. "Hey, Romeo! get your filty paws off Lunatique!" She yelled in a sharp, aggressive tone.
"Pii!!Pi! Pichuuu!!" It hissed back an insult, that Charlotte would never appreciate, since she could not speak Pokemon.
The Sweet Kiss did it's job however, and could see faltering patterns in the improvised Magical Leaf barrage, as Cleffa was now dancing drunkenly in beside Pichu. Then, she had an idea!
"Luna! Want to Sing?" Charlotte gave one triumphant, wicked smile at Pichu who could only look at the confused Cleffa with a worried look. How did such a sweet Pokemon end up with her?
Although disoriented, Cleffa did want to sing, according to her emotional cloud nine of course. Someone had just willingly kissed her! Sure Charlotte hugged her, but it always felt restraining. Cleffa started glowing a light peach before, she opened her mouth and released a myriad of musical notes. The sound produced was similar to echoes of Cleffa's voice through a museum and though it carried no real tune, the musical notes that made contact with the Pichu slowly made it drowsy until it felt as sleep.
Cleffa abruptly stopped her Sing move and blinked, not really realizing what happened. Seeing Pichu asleep, she burst in tears as she had no one to play with right now. Charlotte approached her, and patted her in the head. With a warm smile, she said "You know? If you use a powerful Magical Leaf, he might wake up..."
Luna, as naive as she was, sprung up happily and concentrated her energies into the leaves making them float again. With one swirling motion, she blasted the sleeping Pichu into the air several times, hitting him all he got until he fell down, fainting. "Good job, Lunatique!!" She hugged the Cleffa towards her face, if only to distract her from seeing the fainted Pichu. Secretly, she took one Pokeball and threw it to catch the Tiny Mouse Pokemon.

Who knew that it was going to be an interesting day for hunting down Pichu? It was one of the few ‘mons that had eluded her; and so far she hadn’t had much luck in looking for one of her own. Even if Josh had already offered for her to borrow Lightning and had her sponsor breed it, it… didn’t feel right for her at least. So when word got out that there was a swarm of Pichu all over the Viridian Forest, Izumi just simply had to go and catch a few for herself! Normally she’d only catch one, but she had… plans… and after discovering that she could have more than just one catch from a swarm, she then capitalized on this at once. She knew that her stock of Pokeballs was running low, but she only needed two… one to raise, the other to permanently baby! That, plus I know that swarms are a source of what’s-it-called-again… Hidden Abilities, or something like that… she thought to herself as she then exited from Viridian and then made a jaunt towards the forest that separated this town from Pewter with its huge, overhanging foliage and confusing pathways.
“Hope I come back out of it alive…” she muttered as she then plunged into the entryway, feeling the air suddenly turn still—from the noise outside, everything just seemed to drop to a silent hush… and then, the scuffling noises began. She was just about to wonder where the heck all of the Pichu were… when the scuffling grew louder; until patches of yellow appearing against the greenery of the Viridian Forest started popping up like mushrooms. First it was just one, then two, then they started sprouting out of the grass like it was a plague of irresistibly-cute looking pre-Pikachus… “Oh shoot, they were right… it’s like an infestation of Pikachu, only smaller…” as she felt the familiar sensation of static electricity hanging in the air again. Reminds me of the Mareep swarm… hang around too long and your hair will get all weird! Got to finish up quickly… she thought, quickly grabbing two Pokeballs and then sending out their occupants—it was about time she got going, and they needed to get stronger in order to be able to unleash their full potential. The Moon Ball spat out Vincent, her loopy Riolu; while the other Moon Ball brought forth her Noibat, Ishi—otherwise known as Ishtar.
“Aright, you two… we’re here for some serious business… can you guys go ahead and drive off as many of them as you can? I only need two… don’t ask why it has to be two, let’s get going, shall we?” she said with a chirp in her voice as she pointed forward—and as one, the big mass of yellow started inching towards the two that were now waiting for her to give the “go” signal. “Ishi! Tailwind now, then support Vince with covering fire by means of Air Slash! Vince! Get going with Agility, and then have at it with your Force Palm! Knock aside as many as you can, but make sure to leave enough of them behind for us to deal with!”
“Rioooooo!”
“Noi, noibat! Noiiii!”
She then stood back and watched as the Noibat began whipping up a wind that suddenly blew from behind them, therefore giving the Riolu on the ground a much-needed speed boost! The Emanation ‘mon then quickly catapulted forward thanks to Agility; and saw that there were several Pichu who were now clustering together; all wearing extremely devious looks on their faces—a sign that they were using Nasty Plot—before suddenly letting out a series of Thunder Shock attacks, aimed at the incoming Riolu that was barreling towards them like a bowling ball! The mass chorus of surprise then echoed throughout the area as several of the Pichu were bowled aside, knocked over by the rushing Riolu; who then proceeded to throw an endless stream of one-two punches; its way of delivering Force Palm. The Noibat that was now hovering above them suddenly began flapping its wings together, before conjuring up blade after blade of crossed air and then sending it down at the Pichu who were still clustered together, trying to figure out just what to do!
The cry of surprise as the barreling Riolu had hit them sent the others into a panic, fleeing the scene; lest they get turned into squished pancakes. There were some others, whoever, who refused to back down; and had insisted on taking a last stand—never mind if the Air Slash attacks that were coming from above seemed to just tickle them—as the apparent “leader” of the remaining band of Pichu then quickly sent out… something that looked like a beautiful kiss! Izumi didn’t know what to make of this; neither did Vincent—and it was a split second too late when she realized that the leader had used Sweet Kiss on the Riolu! “Oh, shit,” she hissed; remembering that the seemingly innocent gesture could cause confusion! She then panicked, suddenly yelling, “Vince! Snap out of it!” while crossing her fingers in the process. The Noibat had seen that it’s companion’s intent look suddenly became unfocused, almost as if it was in a daze… before it then decided to take things into her own hands—or rather wings, quickly flying down from her relatively safe position where she was at and then bracing her wings as she then came in dangerously up-close to the leader of the Pichu gang with a Steel Wing attack!
Izumi could only blink in surprise at the sudden initiative that the Noibat had decided to take, and just continued to watch as the other Pichu, now brave enough to stand out from behind their leader, quickly began aiming a chained series of Thunder Shock attacks at the charging Noibat who had just slammed her wings into the leader Pichu, sending it off balance. Even if Noibat was known (at least officially) to be a Flying-Dragon type, the Electric-type attacks didn’t faze it too much; though the rate they were coming from the cluster of Pichu was overwhelming, and the Noibat was unable to back away, due to the fact that the “small but terrible” ‘mons had decided to go with “quantity over quality” in this case. The Riolu was still struggling through the case of confusion that was confounding it; and even if Izumi was trying to catch his attention, he still couldn’t hear her too clearly; and therefore ended up hitting himself instead of aiming for the Pichu leader who was now leering in their direction; having resorted to using a succession of Thunder Wave attacks in order to stop the two from moving!
Oh, crap… did they really have to gang up and take on the two?! She thought, watching as the dazed Riolu continued to flail around, trying to hit an imaginary target it couldn’t see (caused due to the state of confusion) as it then felt its limbs going numb; the effect of being zapped a lot of times with several Thunder Wave attacks! The Noibat was still on the forest floor, trying to pick herself up—due to the fact that the Thunder Shock attacks had almost overwhelmed her, she was now stranded on the dirt and was unable to get up and flutter higher in the air. “Ishi! Fight it! Get off the ground and try to scatter their ranks with your Air Slash attackd… even if it’s not that effective, we have to at least isolate the rest of them from ganging up on you!” she began, looking at the Noibat who was now trying her hardest to get up and get off the ground. As for the Riolu, Vincent was still struggling to shake off the effects of the Sweet Kiss—it was like he could hear his caretaker’s voice from a distance; when his own flailing limb smacked him upside the head; causing the hazy sensation to be replaced with one of shock… and pain!
“R-riooo… riolu?!” she heard him cry out, apparently locked in place as the earlier succession of Thunder Wave attacks had made its footing clumsier and more prone to tipping over. The Noibat had managed to gain some altitude as she was now airborne again; and had noticed that the remaining Pichu were now leering at the immobilized Riolu and taking the chance to fire off more Thunder Shocks in order to be able to render him downed and out—when the purple draconian Pokémon then gained speed and altitude; thanks to having used Agility to propel itself upwards! Now that she was back at a satisfactory height once again, she then began flapping her stubby little wings as fast as she could muster—because even the chain of Thunder Shocks had taken a toll on her—and began sending out blade after blade of crossed air; hoping to disperse the pesky Pichu that were now ganging up on the shell-shocked Emanation ‘mon that was still struggling to break loose from the paralysis that had overtaken it.
“NOOOOOOOOIIIIIIIII!” echoed throughout the clearing as Ishi continued to flap her wings in order to launch her Air Slash, driving off some of the remaining Pichu that were still releasing countless shocks of electricity. “Vince! You can break loose! Try to slam it to the dirt with your Force Palm—if you can!” she shouted, trying to keep her face as straight as she could; but on the inside she was already crying her head off because the situation her Riolu was trapped in. Blade after blade of crossed air rained down from above; and some of the Pichu who hadn’t run for cover were caught in the path of the raging Noibat who was now flapping her wings relentlessly, conjuring up the blades of crossed air in a vain attempt to drive them away. The Riolu was still struggling with the paralysis when it looked up and felt the whistling of the wind around it—now there were just four Pichu remaining; and even if he could “pick up” on his caretaker’s aura, he knew that she was already practically panicking. “R-riooooo,” he cried out, finally managing to knock himself forward into one of the four remaining Pichu… and then all hell broke loose!
The Noibat was still furiously flapping her wings as fast and as hard as she could manage when the Riolu managed to shake off the paralysis that had almost made it near-useless, before beginning its quick but efficient rampage of Force Palming the Pichu that were now trying their best to scatter from the hail of one-two punches that the Emanation ‘mon was now throwing s much as he could before his limbs locked up again due to the residual paralysis from the Thunder Wave spam that the Pichu group had chucked her way. As more and more Air Slash attacks came from the sky, the Riolu then maneuvered to make the attacks connect right at the time the blades of wind came pummeling to the little Electric-type baby Pichu; and soon enough there were four collapsed baby Pichu on the grass. “Oops. Too many… wait, I think I know someone who would want one…” she muttered as she checked her current stock of available containment units.
She then watched as Vincent wobbled his way over to her—and collapsed in her hands due to exhaustion—as she then plucked out two Luxury; as well as two Pokeballs and then chucked the handful at the stunned Pichu. The Noibat then came fluttering down before landing on her shoulder; exhausted as well and watched as the four were sucked up into the containment units…

It was just one normal day in Viridian Forest for Kouki at first, when his voice was heard around the forest. "Hey, come back here!"
The eleven year old trainer quickly jumped up and down from the tree branches and the rocks as he tried to catch the yellow mouse Pokemon, who somehow got one of his RC cars. Somehow, he wanted to give it so it won't be bored. However, it instead ran off with it and quickly tried to catch it to avoid any damage to his toy. And when it stopped as his path was block by a tree, Kouki quickly blocked the other path to avoid it from escaping.
PICHU
GENDER: Male
ABILITY: Lighting Rod
MOVES:
- Thundershock
- Tail Whip
- Nasty Plot
- Thunder Wave
"All right, you little rascal. Let my RC car go before I lose it!" He was a nice kid, but whenever a person or a Pokemon messed with his toys, he never show them any mercy. And unfortunately for the Pichu, it didn't heed his warnings as he used Thundershock to incapacitate him. Although Kouki managed to endured it, he became horrified at what just happened to his car, which was covered in damaged car parts and wheels as he was completely enraged at this.
"You... YOU...!!!" He quickly threw his backpack near the rock before he threw his Poke Ball in the air, which released his Shinx. He was confused at why he was called at first until he cried in horror as he saw the RC car, one of his favorites, was somehow destroyed. Enraged, he growled at who he thought was responsible as his trainer shouted, "Aven, use Crunch on that toy destroyer!"
He growled in approval as he charged onto the yellow mouse Pokemon and bit it's ear, which it cried in pain as it tried to shook him off with his Thundershock. However, it only dealt him a little damage as he back off and growled in anger, which it activated his ability, Rivalry. "Aven, Thunder Fang!"
With his fangs covered with electricity, Aven bit it's ear again, but this time, it didn't made it flinched. "What the?!" Before he can react, the Pichu snickered before it shocked Aven again with it's Thundershock, which somehow made a little more damage as before. "Whoa! Did it powered it's Thundershock earlier? No, wait. It must have happened after Aven used Thunder Fang. That means not only it can shake off Electric attacks, but also used it's absorbed power to increase it's own!"
Despite this revelation, he quickly commanded his Shinx to use Crunch again, which he did as he bit his ear again. Annoyed, the Pichu slapped him with his tail before he shocked him with Thundershock again. Again, his trainer ordered him to use the same move, but this time, the Pichu managed to dodge it before he shocked him once more. And with each of these attacks, Aven completely became enraged, something that Kouki became shocked at his youngest Pokemon.
"This is bad. Aven, switch out!" He said as he fired a red laser from his Poke Ball, returning him to it. "Sorry, Aven. But I can't let your uncontrollable ability lose you." He then quickly pulled out another Poke Ball and shouted, "Radia, help me out with Psychic!"
The Poke Ball popped open as it released his Venonat, which she wasted no time to use her mental power to carry the Pichu and flung him to a nearby rock. Upon it saw a new Pokemon, it tried to use a different electric attack to attempt to paralyze her, but Kouki quickly shouted out, "Dodge it and use Sleep Powder!"
Radia heard her order as she jumped out from the Thunder Wave and released green powder-like spores to the Mouse Pokemon. And despite it's attempt avoid it, the spores managed to enveloped it as it started to get sleepy before he collapsed on the ground. Upon he saw the Pichu slept, he pulled out an empty Poke Ball and shouted, "Poke Ball, go!"
With the Poke Ball now threw to the baby Electric-type Pokemon, it managed to hit it and transformed it into red energy as it absorbed it inside the ball. And as he waited for the outcome, he scooped his broken RC car and sadly muttered, "I hope I can find a nearby toy repair shop in the next city..."
The forest was a familiar territory to the red-maned woman. It was no secret that she spent many hours in the forest, through rain and snow, most often camping. Though not every camping trip in her past was comfortable, in more recent days, the forest’s noises were almost comforting and relaxing, at least once she let her guard down. Quiet wasn’t a word one could use often in a forest, but loud wasn’t one, either.
Not today.
“So. Many. Goddamn. Pichu!”
Every single direction Vesta turned there were at least three Pichu. And they were friendly. Vesta didn’t mind the occasional wayward wild Pokémon approaching her out of curiosity; it’s happened on the blue moon or two, despite her security, but this was another story altogether. These Pokémon, despite repeatedly throwing them off or yelling at them, continually ran for her, jumping on her to cling to her limbs or running around her feet, repeatedly tripping her up, though she managed to avoid falling over so far. It was entirely embarrassing; they put all of their energy into rubbing their cheeks against her. The worst part was that she had sprayed a Repel, and yet, they seemed to be attracted to her, chasing her through half of the forest!
“GODDAMNIT! Leave me-”
Smack.
Vesta paused. She had to take a second to process the fact that a Pichu fell from the sky to attach itself to her face. She froze, forgetting about the dozen plus Pichu clinging to her. The newest Pichu, rubbing its cheek into her nose, found its head grabbed as the angered redhead pulled it off of her, rearing her head back and chucking it, yelling as she did, “Zulu! Get rid of these Pichu!”
From her belt a flash of light came forth, forming into a small black Ice-type Pokémon. The Sneasel held up a claw to begin to work, but he was interrupted by the Pichu that Vesta had thrown, which had apparently landed on its feet, and was now yelling at the only human nearby. It wasn’t alone; a second Pichu was holding it softly while glaring at Vesta as well. The soldier, face flushed read for less-than-mysterious reasons, simply took a Poké Ball from her belt.
The Pichu that clung to Vesta were already uncomfortable, sensing the intent of the Sneasel, but when Vesta threw out Hotel, the Snover so kindly given to her by Piper, they ran as the sky darkened, releasing snow and ice onto the forest. Vesta turned her head slightly towards the Pichu as they ran for cover, sighing and shaking her blush away, turning to the two Pichu as Zulu joined his comrade, all four Pokémon readying for battle.
In the back of her head, Vesta noted the battle capabilities of Pichu to her knowledge – which wasn’t much, but she knew this battle wouldn’t last long - but the more pressing matter was the question of why they were pink. Their electricity was the same, if a different shade. She couldn’t help but think to Cole, her white Electivire with blue electricity. A thought briefly crossed her mind, wondering if she attracted strangely-colored Electric-types, but she shook it off for the moment. More important things were in front of her.
“Zulu, Hotel,” Vesta yelled, getting their attention though their eyes didn’t leave the pink mice, “This won’t last long. Make sure it doesn’t.”
The Ice-type Pokémon nodded in response, and as electricity sparked around the cheeks of the two Pichu, they were suddenly blasted by two powerful gusts of wind and snow; dual Blizzards from the human’s Ice-types, flinging then back into a bush which quickly frosted over. Zulu smirked and chuckled proudly while Hotel looked worriedly over.
Vesta, meanwhile, raised her eyebrow, waiting. Confirmation? A counterattack? Something, but investigating a bush wasn’t exactly the brightest idea. Pichu weren’t very strong, but to not expect surprises was to be foolish, especially when it came to Pokémon. After a few long moments, her patience was earned as the Pichu stumbled out of the bush, electricity sparking out of one of them – the other collapsed immediately, shivering – before firing a pink Thunder Shock at Hotel, which missed completely before it collapsed as well.
The redhead shrugged off her backpack, commenting, “Good work, boys,” as she opened it and sifted through her stuff. Where were they… these were interesting Pokémon, and she wanted to catch them, but her Poké Balls were nowhere to be found. Odd, she always had a few Poké Balls on hand… a couple of black orbs caught her attention, prompting Vesta to pull the two marble-sized Luxury Balls. “The hell? How did these get into my bag?”
She pressed the buttons, making them enlarge to normal size. These were the Poké Balls that coordinators used. She didn’t deal with anything that involved that line of work, so what was she doing with two Luxury Balls…? She sighed softly, getting back up to her feet with the feeling that the rest of her day wasn’t going to go well for her, either. For the moment she had to use these, since she was out of Poké Balls completely.
With a soft groan, she tossed the balls to the two Pichu.

Walking through the forests of a region he hadn't been to in his life, Josh was excited to see what wonders awaited him. Lightning clung to his shoulder, excitedly waiting to see what awaited them as well. Of course, they weren't prepared for what came next.
As they walked, Lightning noticed something out of the corner of his eye. A group of Pichu, five of them, all lying against a tree, looking like they were starving. "Picha....." they whined. They looked like they hadn't ate for DAYS!
"Pika! Pika Pika, Pikachu!" Lightning called to Josh, tugging on his arm and pointing to the Pichu. "Hm?" Josh responded as he looked to see what Lightning wanted. Oh shit. "Hey, aren't those Pichu?" he said as he walked over. Damn, they looked to be in bad shape. He looked up at the tree they were lying against... It was obviously an apple tree, but the apples had been picked bare! It seems someone had been foraging nonstop, and left nothing for the Pichu that they could feasibly get for themselves. Josh frowned, and leaned down to look at the Pichu. "Hey..." he greeted quietly. The Pichu would open their eyes and look at him, before all darting behind the tree in fear. Josh would smile a bit before pulling a big Apple out of his pack. "Here, share this between yourselves" he said, sliding it toward them to show his sincerity. "Pi?" one of the Pichu let out before curiously coming from his hiding place... Or maybe it was from hunger? Regardless, the Pichu, who by his size and bravery seemed to be the leader of the five, would cautiously smell the apple before taking a bite. "Pichaaaa~" he let out in delight. The apple was fresh and tasted delicious! He would look back at the other Pichu. "Pichu Picha!" he said, obviously telling them it was safe. "Pichu!" the others let out happily and came out of their hiding spot to all start taking bites out of the apple.
Eventually, they would eat the whole thing. Even the core was gone! They would all look up at Josh before waving in thanks. "Pichuuuuu!" they let out, thanking him for the food. Josh smiled a bit. "Yknow... It kinda sucks you guys got the short end of the deal here. What would you guys think about coming with us? Maybe living on the ranch my folks have, having all the food you like, and sometime even coming on this journey with me?" he asked.
Two of the Pichu stepped up and seemed to agree. "Pichu!" they chirped happily. Then another. Then another.
But the leader didn't seem convinced.
"Pichu Pi!" he let out fiercely toward the others, seeming to be asking them about this. Abolishing them for so easily giving their loyalty and their lives. Josh frowned. His intentions had been good of course, but perhaps he was asking too much?
The leader Pichu would then face Josh, and pound his own chest. "Pichu Pi!" he let out, before pointing toward Lightning, and his cheeks sparked. "Pichu!"
"Hmmm..." Josh mused, trying to understand the Pichu. Too bad he didn't speak Poke-Speak, huh? "Is it uh... You're challenging Lightning to a battle, and if we win, you'll come with us?" he asked. The Pichu would shake his head. "Pichu Pichu!" he let out, before pointing from one Pichu, in order, to another, and then stopped at himself. "So... Yes, but we have to battle each of you in order, and have to beat you all?" he asked. The Pichu leader would nod. "Pichu!" he let out. Josh would smirk a bit and eye Lightning. "You up for it, bud?" he asked. "Pika!" Lightning chirped eagerly. This would be good practice, he supposed.
"Alright" Josh said as he backed up. The timid one of the bunch would step forward, after words from the leader Pichu. It seemed the shyest of the bunch was going first.
"Pika!" Lightning chirped as he leaped off Josh's shoulder, his cheeks sparking as he prepared for battle. The Pichu wouldn't hesitate to go for a physical slam, it's speed amping up as it went for Lightning, slamming into him and sending him back. "Pika!" Lightning let out in pain, skidding back as he landed on his feet. "Don't underestimate it, Lightning!" Josh said. The Pichu would come at him again with another charge. "Right!" Josh called, and Lightning would sidestep to the right as they had trained. "Grass Knot!" he called. Lightning's arm would glow for a moment before the Pichu that had charged just right past him would suddenly be tripped up, mid-charge by a vine that had appeared from within the ground. Normally, this wouldn't hurt a Pokemon like Pichu much, but the speed he was going caused it to go into a rolling fit and slam into a tree.
"Lightning, use Thunderbolt!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning chirped as his cheeks sparked. "Pika.... CHUUUUUUUU!" he let out as the surge of electricity hit shy Pichu dead on. "PIIIIIII!" he let out in pain as he was zapped, before the shy one would slump against the tree, down for the count. Despite being the same type, Lightning's Thunderbolt was just too powerful for the little one to handle.
"Alright, that's one down!" Josh said, and the second one would take it's spot. This one would beat it's chest similar to the leader, but in a much more proud fashion. This one seemed confident, and had a spirit for battle. Josh liked that, of course. This would be interesting. This Pichu's eye would glint for a moment as it used Nasty Plot, before shooting a Thundershock toward Lightning. "Dodge!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he leaped over it. "Absorb the electricity with a dip of the tail!" Josh called suddenly. Lightning would dip his tail in mid-air to catch the electricity from the Thundershock. His tail would spark. "Now slam it into the Pichu!" he called. "Pi.... KA!" Lightning let out as he finished his big leap, ending it by slamming his tail into the Pichu, electrocuting it as well. While it wasn't a move, using his body to his advantage gave Lightning an edge. The Pichu would slam into a tree, and electricity would surround it. It didn't seem to get effected by Static like Josh had hoped, so he wondered if the Pika line was immune to it... Regardless, the Pichu would get right up and go for a physical slam like it's first counterpart, catching Lightning by surprise as he fell back. "Keep your guard up!" Josh said as it would charge again for another attack. "Meet it head on with Quick Attack!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning called as he charged, gaining speed before the two collided head-on. Both would skid back, but Josh would take advantage of the situation.
"Agility!" Josh called. Lightning nodded. "Pika!" he let out as he charged, gaining speed by the second, until it was like he disappeared at some moments. "Double Team!" he called as Lightning would split into even more Lightnings. The combat oriented Pichu would be confused, looking around to find the real one. "Quick Attack!" Josh called as Lightning would come from behind to nail the Pichu with Quick Attack, KOing it as it hit the ground.
"Two down" Josh said, as he looked to see that Pichu 3 had already taken it's spot. This one seemed to be female, with obvious differences to the others. It would tilt her head cutely. "Pi?" she let out, seeming to be trying to use Charm early in order to catch Lightning off guard. Lightning would blink, before the females cheeks would spark. "Piii.... CHUUUU!" it would let out, shocking Lightning, with the diversion working. Josh gritted his teeth. "Thunderbolt!" Josh called. "Pika..... CHUUUU!" Lightning would let out, managing to counter the electric attack with one of his own. The Pichu would be forced to stop it's electrical attack in order to dodge the Thunderbolt, but it just put itself in harm's way. "Brick Break!" Josh called. "Piiiii.... Ka!" Lightning let out as his glowing hand would come down with a chop onto the Pichu, sending it tumbling back. The Pichu would respond by attempting to send waves of electricity toward Lightning to paralyze him. "Dodge!" Josh called as Lightning rolled out of the way. "Thunder Wave!" Josh responded. "Pi!" Lightning let out as a larger wave would catch the Pichu by surprise, stunning it. "Quick Attack!" Josh called. Lightning would respond with a Quick Attack that would send the Pichu rolling backwards, and it would be out of commission as well.
"Alright!" Josh said. The next one would line up, with just him and his leader left to go. This one seemed to have a sense of pride, maybe even a bit too much... It was likely the second, Josh thought, and probably thought highly of itself for that. But it must have earned those stripes somehow, so they couldn't underestimate it. Quickly, the Pichu would use Nasty Plot before going for a Thundershock, to which Josh would quickly call for a dodge. "Pi!" Lightning let out as he leaped into the air, spinning and barely dodging the Thundershock. The Pichu wouldn't relent, going for another and another, until it finally hit Lightning dead on. This one had more punch to it and Lightning let out a yelp in pain. Josh gritted his teeth and called out to Lightning. "Come on, Lightning! Shake it off! Use Thunderbolt!" he called. "Pika.... CHUUUU!" Lightning let out as he loosed a fierce Thunderbolt. This time, the Pichu dodged, and Lightning would go for another. "CHUUU!" he let out as another Thunderbolt would miss. This Pichu was fast! "Quick Attack!" Josh would suddenly call. "Pii.... KA!" Lightning let out as the speedy Pikachu would ram into the Pichu as it was dodging the thunder attacks, sending it flying. "Brick Break!" he called. "Pika!" Lightning let out as he leaped into the air and delivered a flying chop, sending the Pichu back to earth. With spirals in it's eyes, the second in command was down. Now, all that was left was the leader.
The leader seemed impressed. It wasn't everyday that a Pikachu took a gauntlet of it's whole group and beat all four of his guys. But playtime was over. Quickly, his eyes would gleam. Nasty Plot, once again. But instead of attacking, it would gleam again... And again... And again. Bewildered, Josh stopped. Big mistake. For every Nasty Plot, it's special attack power increased. Then suddenly, before Josh could react, Lightning was hit with the hardest Thundershock that had been dealt from any of the Pichu. And Josh could feel it from where he was standing. "Gah... Shake it off, Lightning!" Josh let out. "Pi.... Pi... Ka!" Lightning let out as he managed to finally ward it off, but he was exhausted from all the battling. Josh took a breath, guilty about going through with this gauntlet. Truthfully, he'd only done it because he knew Lightning wanted so badly to constantly be around his own kind... After not seeing his own kind at all after his mother died. His intentions were good... But did Lightning know that?
Lightning seemed to read the expression on his Trainer's face. The bond between them ran deep, and it was almost like the Pikachu knew what Josh was thinking. "Pikachu!" Lightning chirped, giving a thumbs up. Josh smiled a bit, and nodded. "Alright, we can't let this get us down!" he said. "Lightning, Agility, and Double Team! Circle around!" he called. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he split into copies again, this time using Agility as well to increase his speed. The copies would run around the Pichu at blinding speed, and the poor thing didn't know what to do as it looked around trying to find the real one. "Brick Break!" Josh called. The copies would all leap into the air, with glowing arms. "Piii.... KA!" they all let out, but only one connected, sending the Pichu back into the tree. Josh hoped this was it, but it wasn't the case as the Pichu would shoot a Thunder Wave. "Dodge!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning responded as he rolled to the left. The Pichu didn't give up and shot another. "Right!" Josh called. Lightning would slide to the right in response, just barely avoiding the edges.
"Thunderbolt!" Josh called. "Pika.... CHUUUUU!" Lightning let out, but the electricity would hit the Pichu then fizzle out. "What the hell?" Josh responded, blinking. "Pika?" Lightning added. "Yknow, I wondered why none of them went down from your electric attacks..." Josh realized out loud. "Your Thunderbolts can normally take a Pokemon out quite quick, but you've had to rely on normal attacks. Have they still hurt em here? Yeah, but not near as much as they should, even for a Pichu..." he said. "These guys must have a gift... An ability... But the younger ones are still working on it, while this one's obviously mastered it" he said. The Pichu wasn't waiting any longer and shot a Thundershock toward Lightning. "Dodge!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning responded, rolling under the Thundershock. "Roll into a Quick Attack!" Josh called. Lightning would use Quick Attack to gain speed before curling into a ball, rolling at high speeds like a bowling ball toward the Pichu. "Pika... Pikapikapikapika-PIKA!" Lightning let out as he bowled over the Pichu, sending it flying back. Finally, it was down for the count.
Josh smiled a bit as the 5 Pichu would manage to get up, then slump against the tree in exhaustion. "You all did great" he said. "Especially you, Lightning" he added, patting his Pikachu on the head. "Chaaa~" Lightning coo'd, happy for praise. "Alright, kids.... Welcome to the team" he said with a smile as he would take out 5 Pokeballs, throwing one gently toward each Pichu, hoping that all of them would comply... If not, he didn't know how Lightning would handle having to battle the remaining ones that still wanted to battle.

”…from badass mercenary to glorified teacher and exterminator that they order around anywhere. Just great. What has the world come to? I swear this is like my time with Arcane all over again.”
Zernebog sighed as he put down his binoculars. ”Well… if I’m going to be the League’s lackey for the near future then I’m going to damn well enjoy it in my own terms.” He glanced at the horde of sparking yellow and black that was akin to a sea of yellow that swamped this green forest. ”After all, it’s no fun if there’s no challenge.”
Zernebog pulled out two pokeballs with a smirk and pressed a button on top, releasing their contents in a quieter and less flashy manner than if he had thrown them up in the air and released them the normal way.
”Bulba? Bulbasaur?” The blue and green creature asked meekly as she stared up at Zernebog with big red eyes after she was released from the pokeball.
”Deiiiino! Deiiiiino!” In contrast, the blind blue and black dragon hatchling covered in bruises roared and slammed himself into Zernebog’s leg viciously before pawing at his pant leg in his own form of affection.
On his part, Zernebog didn’t even flinch as the Deino tackled his leg in a show of affection. In fact, he bent down and gave it an affectionate head rub. He was used to it by now since he had the bruised dragon for months now. His legs have grown immune to the constant trauma they were being subjected to, or at least he liked to think that they were. He thought that it made for great endurance training for his legs, so he had never discouraged it.
So instead of griping about the slight stinging on his leg, he just went on talking. ”Alright you two, it’s time for your first-ever flash mob battle.” He grinned as the Bulbasaur’s eyes widened even further while the Deino nuzzled his leg after letting out a shout of excitement.
”Since you tow are new to this, we’re going to cheat a little and have you two prep yourselves before going right in. So go on right ahead and make yourself bigger, Demeter, while you can work yourself up into one hell of a frenzy, Typhon.” Zernebog waited until Demeter had tripled in size and Typhon had worked himself up a lot before continuing. ”Alright. Well done, guys~! Now here’s the game plan….”
20 minutes later
WHAP!
“Pichu?!”
Over a hundred heads turned to look over where a Pichu had screamed all of a sudden. Upon seeing it unconscious, a number of its friends immediately went to its aid, fussing over its body and wondering where it was hit. In fact, most of the horde was so distracted that they didn’t notice another two members of the horde fall down until it was too late.
WHAP! WHAP!
“Pichu?! Pi?!” The entire horde of Pichu was now starting to panic before one of them raised a hand.
“Pichu! Pi! Pi!” The rest of them nodded and took on devious face as they began to use Nasty Plot. Not a second after they formed their thinking circle, two massive green vines whipped out and smacked two more Pichu on the head before vanishing into the foliage.
This time though, one of them saw it and pointed at the tree where it came from. “Pichu!”
Before they were able to do anything more than charge electricity into their cheek pouches the best they can, a wild dinosaur-like creature came barreling out from the other side and slammed into one of the Pichu like a truck hitting a motorcycle.
The worked up Typhon then screamed, using the force of his voice via Hyper Voice to knock the rest of the Pichu –which was a good strong ten- out by assaulting their eardrums at near point-blank range. This cleared the horde nearest to him, but unfortunately things weren’t over yet.
”PICHU!” Innumerable voices cried out from deeper within the forest, followed by rumbling and sparks of electricity that shot up the trees.
The party has just gotten started.
By the time that the rest of the horde had gotten to the area, the place was littered with the bodies of their unconscious brethren. The little yellow baby rats couldn’t help but look and sniff around the area, wondering why the place felt so relaxing to them and why so many of their brethren were sleeping after that horror-movie worthy scream.
Only one of the little yellow rats noticed that the grass was taller and more lush than when they had left it a few hours ago. It tried to get the others attention and point it out, only for it to be silenced by a large, thick green vine that yanked it away into the foliage and subsequently slammed into the ground with an impact powerful enough to instantly leave it unconscious. No one even noticed him gone.
However, another Pichu did eventually notice that the tall grass was strange and unnatural-seeming and went to poke its friend about it. As soon as the two started chatting about the grass though, two large vines suddenly whipped out from the bushes, wrapping around their mouths and yanking them into the darkness where they were quickly smacked into the ground and subdued, but not before letting out an indignant squeak that others could hear.
The Pichu then charged as one, readying their electricity, when suddenly someone in the back was ambushed by a black and blue blur and sent straight into dreamland with one massive. Then he screamed bloody murder, knocking out another five pokemon with the sonic force from his voice alone before blindly latching onto one more and taking a deep crunch of its body, which unfortunately also paralyzed him in the process as its Static kicked in.
The slowed movements of the Deino allowed the Pichu to recover and start converging on him, only for a few of them to be swatted aside by a massive green vine and sent flying right into trees where they were sent unconscious from the sheer force of the move. This split the Pichu horde’s focus as now they had two main contenders to swarm and try to kill through electricity.
Half of the Pichu charged into the undergrowth while the rest dealt with the blue and black hatchling dragon, including one menacing-looking scarred Pichu….
Demeter hummed to herself as she waited for the Pichu to come her way. It was only a matter of time after all. Typhon could deal with the rest outside since he actually had an area-of-effect move (yes she learned that nice term from her trainer). Why, she had already spread a trap of toxic chemicals on the grass surrounding her, which she had spread liberally. Hey, she didn’t have Toxic Spikes so these will have to do.
As soon as they came within sight, she started swatting them away with her empowered vines, whipping them up and away from her and into dreamland and another place in the forest. However, she wasn’t fast enough yet to get all of them, which was what the poison for. Those who had gotten close enough got poisoned and then shot down by a special poisonous liquid she spat from her mouth that was deadlier when the target was already poisoned.
However, she started having problems when one of them got smart enough to keep their distance long enough to launch a Thunder Wave that paralyzed her, leaving her slow and sluggish. This made the fight much harder as her slower and heavier vines batted away at the horde of Pichu going at her constantly like a swarm of Carvanha.
This time she was hit by multiple Thundershocks, but the Grassy Terrain that she kept up around the field –which explained the tall, lush grass around the area- as well as her natural resistance to their elemental typing made it much easier for her to bear their hits while kicking their collective tails.
It took over an hour to do so since she was slowed down, but she eventually managed to get rid of everyone going her way, enabling her to finally slump her vines down in relief while wondering how Typhon was doing….
Typhon, not being built for the long haul like the Bulbasaur was, was not fairing as well as his female counterpart. Sure he still managed to get a hit here and there, but now he was so slow that most attempts missed if he didn’t freeze up. The only thing that still worked was Hyper Voice, which he used to push them away from him with even more force after working himself up even more.
He didn’t know why his trainer was silent and not giving him orders, but he thought that it was finally because his trainer finally trusted him to do his first battle by himself. Granted, he was starting to get exhausted after screaming five times in such a short time consecutively, but sacrifices had to be made.
Suddenly, he felt the other Pichu backing away for some reason with one of them escaping his Crunch in the process. One of them then tried to attack him with Thundershocks nearly constantly, one that was stronger than the rest and made him grit his teeth. Worse, his muscles actually froze, leaving him to take the beating for a bit all by his lonesome.
However, Typhon finally managed to power through because of the Grassy Terrain underneath his feet and tackled the Pichu straight into a rock formation and then ramming it in further just to be sure. Once that was done, Typhon proceeded to take care of the rest of the Pichu, unaware of the approaching white haired trainer….
Zernebog wasn’t often haunted by ghosts of the past. This day was proving to be the exception as he stared at the scarred but completely unmistakable countenance and appearance of his old Pichu, Zeus. He didn’t know how or why his old Pichu was still alive and kicking in another region when he should be dead and buried along with the rest who supposedly died years ago, but… he didn’t care. For now anyway.
Zernebog was completely ashen and silent until Typhon had soundly beaten Zeus and went off to fight the others, which snapped him out of his sulking and gave him an idea. He took out an empty pokeball from his pocket and tossed it at his old Pokemon Zeus, wandering, waiting and hoping….
