Kouji was normally one who didn’t follow most of the “swarm” news—however, he realized that his Ranch was now starting to be overflowing with a ton of certain types, and he needed to thin it out… and so he decided to take a quick side-trip to the home region of his benefactor, which was Hoenn. Apparently there was news of something that was part-Grass, and that it could actually fly… who knew what the odds were, right? The team he had with him was mostly unchanged, except for one slight addition—he’d decided to take along the Slugma because you couldn’t fight grass with water, right? “Time to resort to fire…” he muttered to himself, as he then arrived at this city that was mostly located up in the trees. He could only imagine how people could live in such close proximity to nature! “So, where are they supposed to be…” he muttered, looking up at all the green foliage. The people around town had been muttering about something of that sort, since this was the rumored place where they were supposed to appear…
“Right on cue,” he muttered to himself, looking up at the sound of fluttering wings. He then saw several shadows darting overhead, and he knew that he had found the target—they really did look like flying palm trees, after all. he then quickened his step, following the horde of shadows as they then settled at the outskirts of town—and he then saw his chance, because apparently they were gathering in a large flock that were now feeding on shoots that were growing! Wonder if that’s what they like… whoa, what’s that smell? He thought to himself, catching wind of the luscious-smelling fruity odor—but where was it coming from?! Closer examination revealed that said odor was coming from the funny tree-like beings that were now humming—how was he going to disturb such a scene of peace? He then looked down at the collection of Pokémon he had with him—and decided to give his new assistant, the Slugma, a chance to show off its colors. Plucking up the particular Pokeball in his hands, he then took a long look at its contents before deciding to send her out—and watched as the flash of red light transformed into something that was quite like magma, but pretty much sentient!
“Okay, Liekki. This is your first time with me, right? Don’t worry; Varsi is back at the Ranch, lazing around. I… need your help. You see those trees? Can you scare most of them away for me? I only need one, but having them all bunched up is going to be a problem…” he muttered, and quite surprisingly the Slugma then inched its way forward, and he took great care not to step where it had crawled, because for starters, that was pure, living lava right there. The Tropius horde were busy nibbling on all the leaves and basically having a good time when Kouji saw the perfect chance—and then as one, the entire horde was suddenly aware of the intruding Slugma’s presence! Before the horde could react, he then took the chance and then pointed forward, “Alright, Liekki, start off with a Lava Plume! Try to… you know, keep it under control? Can’t risk having a forest fire here now can we?!” he shouted, pointing forward, and then said Slugma moved forward, ground rumbling ominously. All of the watching Tropius then scattered at the first sight of fire—it was their worst nightmare, after all!
Kouji then covered his head with his hands, due to the sudden uproar of noise that the scattering Tropius were causing—it was utter bedlam. Plume after plume of molten lava exploded from underneath the ground, raining down in a bath of hot, steaming fire that caused the Tropius horde to scatter wildly, because those flames were hot! As the Slugma continued to wreak havoc with the Lava Plume attack, he then considered sending out another member of his “band” but decided against it; and watched as the Slugma had finally exhausted most of the flames that it had summoned from deep within the earth; leaving one very shell-shocked, and extremely afraid Tropius for him to deal with. “Alright, now that we’ve got the one... Ancient Power, now!” he continued, and for some reason, the Slugma had called upon a barrage of rocks that suddenly went flying towards the Tropius that had conjured up a swarm of Magical Leaves and sent it towards the Slugma—only to have the leaves evaporate upon contact with the heat haze that the Slugma was exuding, now that it had been excited to do battle.
The Tropius then retaliated with a Stomp attack, barely missing the Slugma by inches, as he continued, “Lava Plume, again! Then bring up your defense with Acid Armor; then use Smog as a screen to get out of there!” and watched as the mayhem continued, with the Tropius trying to Stomp down on the target; while the Slugma quickly raised its defense; before releasing a cloud of noxious fumes—before finally wrapping it up with another super-heated blast of fire erupting from the ground! The Tropius then caved under the weight of the attacks—particularly because it had been burned and poisoned, and then Kouji took a blank Pokeball before chucking it right at the coughing tree, which had now fallen over due to the poisoned effects of Smog affecting it.

It felt strange to be back in Hoenn, considering that he planned on avoiding his hometown until he visited each region at least once, but posts on the forums he frequented were flying at the recent swarm that hit Fortree City. If the rumors were true, then the magnificent banana dinosaur of his dreams was wandering around, hidden in the trees as if it was some kind of bird. Maybe that wasn't how it worked, but he liked to imagine dinosaurs acting like birds, thinking that they were small like birds as they tried to sing and fly. As much as he loved to travel, there was just a certain charm about Hoenn that made him want to stick around. Granted, he had been in Mossdeep City for most of his life, but he still knew a lot about certain cities based on what he saw on TV. As he walked along the firm wooden bridges in Fortee, he remembered how as a kid, he dreamed of living in a place like this. What was cooler than living in the world's biggest tree fort?
He wasn't even afraid of heights, and with how the buildings were structured, there was a clear sense of community when all of the houses were smushed together. He definitely felt out of place as he wiped the stars out of his eyes, realizing that the locals were looking at him funny for wiggling one of the bridges back and forth like a swing. Whoops. Slipping himself down the nearest ladder, he danced backwards with his eyes locked onto the city's layout, feeling star stricken awe once again at how all of those houses managed to stand proud when they were caught between the trees. Maybe someday he'd try to settle down here, but then again, imagining himself 'settling down' was a ridiculous notion of its own.
Perhaps he took after his birth mother a bit too much, not that he minded, but it sure kept his family on edge whenever he skirted around his responsibilities as the eldest son. "I'll come back for you, my home away from home." Blowing kisses at Fortree City as he walked backwards, kicked up a leg and twirled himself around, following a path that led him deeper into the forest.
"Gonna get me a banana, gonna call it my ~Dananna~, and when I get that golden banana, I'm really gonna scream." Singing along as he skipped and frolicked amongst the trees, he ignored the stares of the wild Pichu and Zigzagoon as he continued his journey. His voice must've been out of tune, because whaddaya know, a magnificent Tropius stood in his path. What were the odds? With a heavy stomp of his huge dino foot, he directed Danny's attention towards him, immediately shutting the boy up in stunned silence. <Some of us prefer to eat in silence, thank you.> Thinking that he had ended the situation rather amiably, the Tropius started to leave, much to Danny's horror. "Excuse me, but dearest Tropius. Can I interest you in being trained by the most glorious trainer in Hoenn? You see," Pushing up his invisible glasses, he proceeded to swoop around the Tropius as he wrapped an arm around its neck. "Trained Pokemon have been proved BY SCIENCE that they can live longer, healthier lives. If you come with me, I'll tap into your true potential as the Banana Dinosaur King. Queen. Squid. Whatever floats your boat, I ain't judgin'." Talking over the Tropius's irritated grunts, Danny proceeded to list off even more benefits to being a part of his crew.
"Ever dream of being the best ladies man out there? I can help you with that. Or even the best man's man. You can be the best anything as long as you have me, Danny Kazuki, as your wingman--" Fed up with Danny's excruciatingly exhausting sale's pitch, the Tropius responded with a firm Whirlwind to the face. Harsh winds blew Danny right into the branch above, and it wasn't even a stable branch either, wiggling and cracking under his weight. "So we're doing this the hard way, are we? I can deal with that. Tropius, meet my little friend!" Armed with Larry's Pokeball in hand, he threw it into the air right as the branches gave way, forcing Danny to fall with a frightened squeak. As Larry popped out of the ball, he didn't seem too phased by his trainer's injuries, but he was interested in the humongous, grouchy Tropius that stood before him.
To the Tropius, he wasn't exactly threatened by something as common as a Wingull. <Is fighting necessary when you can eat bananas?> He decided to ask, slyly lifting up his head to showcase the ripe fruit around his neck. Larry wasn't much of a banana guy, but he couldn't say no to free food either. Tentatively hopping closer to the massive giant, he stared up at the bananas in awe. Goodness, those were huge. He wasn't even sure how he was supposed to get them down without harming the Tropius. "Larry, what are you doing? That's not your food. Stop that. Larry. Larry--oof." He wanted that sweet, sweet Tropius in a Pokeball so badly, but the pain in his legs was enough to distract him. He was sore, but the pain wasn't so bad that he couldn't stand back up. <It's your food now, sucker.> Letting out a hoot as his massive bananas increased in size, the Tropius Bestowed his family fruits on poor Larry's backside. The weight of the banana was enough to pin him down, much to the Tropius's delight.
<You're years too young to be challenging me, children.> His massive wings stretched towards the sky as he spoke, and Danny quickly saw where this was going. "Larry, take cover." He shouted, only to get blown back by another Whirlwind. Larry and his banana were shot into the nearby bushes, while Danny was thrown into another tree. Poor guy was too high to simply jump down this time, but at least Larry wasn't pinned down by his banana anymore. Chuckling to himself at how easily he handled the newbies, the Tropius turned tail and left the two stranded in the forest.
Danny shamefully shimmied down the tree, wincing and squeaking each time he nearly lost his grip on the way down, but somehow his feet touched the ground without further injury. By the time he found Larry, his pest of a Wingull was munching on the free banana, and with his appetite, it was practically gone by now. "Yeah, I hope you've had your fill. Can't have you kicking butt on an empty stomach, now can we?" Parting Larry from his banana peel as he scooped the bird into his arms, he gave him a loving scratch under the beak, not even minding that they lost round 1 against his dream Tropius. Thinking that following the Tropius's footsteps in the soft earth was their best plan, he trailed after them, only to find a maze of Pokemon tracks fumbling around one another. Most of them looked as if they belonged to other Tropius, which made sense, because they were swarming around this time of year. Still, he wanted that particular Tropius now that he knew how awesome they could be.
The end of the trail led them to a small clearing, where a couple of Tropius grazed and slept beside one another, none of which Danny recognized. Not even Larry moved at the sight of them, confirming that they followed the wrong tracks. Well, shit. Right as Danny started to retrace his steps, he bumped right into a thick, muscular chest. He even stumbled backwards because of how firm those muscles were, and when he looked up, surprise, it was the same damn Tropius from earlier. Even Larry was shifting about at the sight of his new banana friend, staring up at the fruit dangling off the dinosaur's neck with new-found appreciation. <Your glutton of a bird is disturbing.> Scowling at the way Larry was eyeing his neck, he wasn't even surprised when Larry lunged at him, snapping his beak away like a hungry hungry hippo for the sake of a tiny taste. Tropius wasn't having any of that, and swiftly smacked the bird down with his left wing.
B A T T L E !
"Hey, guys. Guys. If you're gonna fight, then use attacks. It just makes things so so so much easier on me. Thank you." Why break up the fight when it could make it easier to catch himself a Tropius? Exactly. He was so letting this happen, regardless of how it went down. Tropius wasn't initially interested in fighting, but Larry was doing this for the bananas. Hovering in front of the dinosaur's face as if he wanted to say something important, Larry quickly surprised his foe with a sudden Blizzard to the face. Normally the attack was inaccurate as heck, but the Tropius barely had time to brace himself, having underestimated the Wingull this entire time. With a furious hiss, he flew above the Wingull's form and attempted to Body Slam him into the ground. "Dodge with Agility! Then use Pursuit!" Thank goodness Larry was fast, because he sure wasn't built to take attacks all that well. Zipping away from the shadow that loomed overhead, the Tropius slammed into the ground, barely noticing the white blur that zipped away at the last second. All he knew was that he was getting pecked, and it was annoying as hell. Leaning his long neck around to stare the Wingull in the eye, he nipped at Larry's wing, grasping him tightly between his teeth as he proceeded to slam him into the ground with another variation of Body Slam.
The move hurt, but Larry wasn't down just yet. With a tired huff, Larry settled himself down to Roost off the damage. Initially the Tropius thought that Larry was doing some sort of pacifist strike because he didn't want to battle, but when he took a closer look, he saw the Wingull's wounds fade as if they never happened. Wise to their fowl play, the Tropius decided that it was fair game to play a trick of his own. As Larry continued to heal himself up, the Tropius directed his neck towards the sun, as the bananas around his neck began to increase in size. Thanks to his incredible Harvest ability, he was able to Bestow another banana on Larry’s head, which the bird was more than happy to accept. A Tropius fruit was way bigger than the typical banana, but Larry had no problem with it as he began snacking down on the bait like a savage, starving animal. It was perfect timing for the Tropius, really, because it gave him enough time to creep behind the tiny bird to secure a perfect Body Slam against its fragile frame. Squished beneath a whole lotta dinosaur, Larry panicked under the leafy giant’s weight as he kicked and flailed his wings, even struggling to breathe because of the way Tropius was crushing him.
Danny bit his fist out of suspense, pacing furiously back and forth until he could think of a way to get Larry out of there. Blizzard sounded like their best bet, but it didn’t look as if Larry could move his head far enough to even hit his oppressor. It did look as if he could twist his beak far enough to aim at the ground though, prompting Danny to place his bets on an untested theory. ”Larry, freeze the ground with Blizzard! I know the cold shoulder’s gonna suck, but if it lets you slip out of there, then go for it.” At this point, the Tropius looked like an aged mother hen attempting to squish her young to death, but Larry was too crafty to let that go unpunished. With a sharp twist of his neck, he fired a harsh Blizzard at the mud coated ground, causing it to freeze over with a smooth layer of ice that spread itself around the grumbling giant’s belly. Struggling to slip out with the help of the ice, even the Tropius was starting to get concerned about what was going on down there, and as he shifted around to check, Larry managed to pop back into the air with a victorious cry. <Shit.> The Tropius clicked his tongue at his mistake as he got back up, having a good feeling that he was about to pay the price for being too damn curious.
”Time to be blown away with our hash tag swag, bro. Rain Dance, Lair Lair. Then follow up it with a Hurricane!” His little Wingull was able to dish out the pain when he wanted, and when Larry summoned a light drizzle after firing a blast of water into the sky, Danny felt it in his bones that the battle was finally wrapping itself up. Flapping his wings even more than the Tropius had during his Whirlwinds, Larry lashed out with a fervent Hurricane as his wings sliced at the air, forcing the weakened bananasaur to kneel down to his might. By the time the combination was over, as the rain continued to fall over the group, the Tropius started to stand up despite how his legs shook in protest. Danny and Larry braced themselves for whatever the mean green machine had up his sleeves, but the Tropius couldn’t pull through, collapsing with a loud ‘thump’ as the rain tried to comfort his wounds with light taps.
It took Danny a couple of seconds to register that they managed to defeat something as awesome as a Tropius, but the relief he felt was immense. ”Thank all, we pulled through.” Skipping over to the side of the Tropius, he rested his foot on the dinosaur’s head as he struck a pose, pleased with his victory. ”You the man, Lair Lair. Now, to document this fine moment, I’d like to take a few selfies with my prize—well, maybe not yet. I should wait until you wake up.” Taking his foot of the dinosaur’s head, he crawled to the side of the fainted grump, gently leaning against its backside as he proudly plucked a spare Pokeball out of his bag. With Larry quietly snuggling himself in Danny’s lap for a makeshift nest, even he had to be curious on whether the Pokeball would work on something this big. Danny seemed to think it would as he beamed with confidence, already believing that the Tropius was his as he tapped the Pokeball into its face, triggering a mechanism inside the capsule that popped it right open, sucking his new ally inside.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
"Charrrr!" "CHARRRRR!" "BLAZE!"
Yumi chuckled softly as she watched her two main fire type pokemon giving the new girl her introduction. She had no idea why, but when Tequill had first become an official member of the team, Enzo roared at her and the chick chirped back. She was afraid they were going to fight, but as time whent by and Yumi obtained more fire types, she realized this was sort of a right of passage Enzo had conjured up, and now, fully evolved and able to take the near dragon on in a fight, Tequill seemed to have joined in with the roaring.
Standing strong against the intimidation, Veruka held her back straight and crossed her arms, puffing out embers as if the loud battle cries had not even phazed her. Tequill and Enzo glanced to one another, their gaze stern, like parents debating whether the new daughter of the Tasukai family had met the grade, and of course, with a solemn nod from each of them, they gave their approval of the new fire type, filling her with even more confidence. Today she had a special task to see if the training she was getting from the older pokemon was paying off, so she needed all the boosts she could get.
"Alright you guys, you done roasting the new girl?" Enzo gave a hearty chuckle and a nod, while Tequill gave her own small cry in response, seeming to give Yumi a strong yes as Veruka climbed up to the red head's shoulder ready to move out and kick some butt. "Goodie, now, Enzo, Tequill, you guys feel free to search for some special examples of the Tropius, or just kick their butts if you prefer. Me and Veruka are gonna got search around the main spots they've been sighted, catch some and put any spares on the trade station. Sound like a plan?" The team nodded, and without any need of a final go ahead from Yumi, they all rushed off to do their respective jobs, Veruka staying on Yumi shoulder, wondering what she'd be put up against so she could prove herself.
Walking deeper into the forest it wasn't hard for Yumi to spot the Tropius. Not only where they so large but there were dozens of them, already Veruka was itching for a fight, cracking her knuckles and leaping from Yumi's shoulder to a nearby branch, wondering which of the feeding grass types Yumi would set her up against. "Now Veruka, don't get too excited. One wrong move and these guys could trample you." The chimchar nodded as if she knew that already. Truth be told, much like Jiraya and Chespin when they were unevolved, Yumi could tell that Veruka didn't really need her help.
"Well...go right ahead.~" She gave a bright smile as she rested her back against a tree. "I'll catch what you knockout."
The monkey gave a quick nod, climbing her tree quickly and looking out over the Tropius, now high enough to look above the pseudo dinosaurs. With what could only be described as a battle cry, she picked a single loner from the pack eating on its own a few trees away, and charged. With many branches between her and her target, her acrobatics kicked in, jumping between the trees at an extremely agile pace, Her speed and small size made her a speeding bullet that shocked the tropius, the dino spotting the fire type at only the last moment, when the fire type suddenly impacted on his throat feat first, pushing him back and forcing him to cry out as the fire monkey backflipped to a nearby branch, the attention of the other grass types clearly on the battle before them now.
Yumi felt a small twinge as her protective nature shined through, wondering if she should call for enzo to help, but Veruka seemed to just be happy that her battle was getting attention. The Tropius she first took on seemed to have some trouble regaining its bearings, afterall its throat had just been struck with the speed of a bullet. Roaring out as it finally got the hang of standing up straight again, the Tropius stepped out and tried to stomp down on the fire type who had tried to take it on. With quick movements, the chimchar rushed under the body of the tropius, spinning to her back mid-leap, her cheaks puffing out as she prepared to unleash a burning flamethrower into the stomache of the Tropius, burning its underside and forcing it to screech out and topple to its left, slumping accross a tree until the red flash of one of Yumi's pokeballs would take it out of the battle.
With a chimchar standing proudly in the place of one of their dissapearing friends, many of the tropius backed away, not wanting to be next, but two of the larger examples of the species stepped forward, ready to take on the pokemon that had harmed one of their own. Veruka was only getting more hypes, signalling for them to "come and get it". With the two grass types shooting off a bombardment of razor leaves. With her acrobatic movements, the chimp was quickly juping back and running up a tree as sharp leaves stuck into the tree below her, landing on a higher branch and blowing her tongue out at the dinos. They charged closer and Veruka jumped to land atop one of their heads, pulling a face at the other. Both pokemon easily angered by this prepared to strike the chimp in some way. As they whent to attack, she used her enhanced agility to leap off the head, forcing them to headbutt one another instead, growning and dazed from the strike.
"Alright Veruka." Yumi chuckled softly as she pulled out from her hiding place, nearly finding it cruel that she couldn't help but find this funny. "Time to catch them don't you think?" With a sigh Veruka reluctantly agreed, having had fun showing off. With a deep breath, and as the Tropius began to regain their barings, the chimp burned them both with a powerful flamethrower, looking to devestate both pokemon in one firey attack, two red flashes going off as her fire died down, as Yumi attempted to capture the last 2.
