Need some breeding done but can't find anyone else to go to? Want connections to 'mons that you don't have? Then come on over to A Taste of Home, where Kouji can do this and much more!
Current Record: 115 successful breeding requests fulfilled (updated as of April 2)
After moving from Humilau, Unova, the grounds for “A Taste of Home” have been split in two—one being in Bayonada, where Kouji himself has settled down; while the larger patch of land is located over in the Wilds (alongside his prime benefactor’s grazing grounds).
Unlike its Unova incarnation, the “new” version of his Ranch has smaller grazing grounds—but that’s only because of the bigger patch of land located in the Wilds. True enough, there’s still an orchard of trees and shrubs growing delicious-looking fruits and all kinds of fruit and Berries, and construction has been recently completed for a fresh-water lake found out back on the Ranch's grounds.
The location is near one of the shores of Bayonada, so there is still the old “beach access” going for Kouji, although unlike the Unova incarnation, the beach front his Ranch faces is much smaller, but at least accessible for the Water types who flourish better in an oceanic setting.
The front is a faithful recreation of the old Humilau “front office”; with a parking lot for people who have cars to drop by denoting the outside. The front office itself has a long counter, along with several plush sofas for clients to sit in while waiting for their orders. There is also a bell on the counter, ring it and the assistant (who is now referred to as Purple) will come running. In the back of the structure is a nursery room overseen by a Kangaskhan and a Chansey, along with a store room for all the various utilities that are needed for the Ranch to function.
There is also another room that contains two aquariums, while the second storey of the place is the “official living quarters” of Kouji and his assistant, so they’re always around whenever anyone would want to drop by for a breeding request.

Pricing & Affiliation
COMMON
•15 - •25
RARE
•65 - •??
Base for Commons start at 15, while Rares start at 65. Price also depends on which Pokemon they are. Pokemon with Egg Moves have a slight price increase, add 5 to the base prices listed above for each Egg Move. Affiliates (as listed above) pay just the base price listed, regardless if the 'mons have Egg Moves or not; plus they get priority for available breeding slots.
rares and tax If it's a rare, please check the Rare Ban list to see if it's there. If it's not, have at it. Normally, Kouji would shoulder the tax. Since times are changing, please pay at least half of the tax; he'll shoulder the other half of the fees as needed; if you're an affiliate, then lucky you, because Kouji will shoulder the Rare Tax himself!
regarding high-demand rares If the 'mon in question is one of the high-demand rares, all resulting spawn will be unbreedable if the breeding request is successful; this is in order to enforce"population control" for their species.
news ticker & important updates As of 10.23.2014, A Taste of Home has reached 50 successful breeding requests fulfilled. As such, the Ranch can now accommodate 3 breeding sessions per week.
As of 2.23.2015, A Taste of Home has passed the magical number of 100 for breeding requests fulfilled!

"Hm... quaint place this breeder has."
There was a small smile on Altair's face as he adjusted his hat again while looking at the entire area. This was definitely a place that his grandfather would approve of. He would love to tour it and compare the differences between his grandfather's Gardens of Babylon to this A Taste of Home.
He resisted the urge to frown. Unfortunately, he was far, far too famous to try covert visits without a disguise on. And when one has a disguise on, proper protocol calls for spending as little time around people as possible unless dictated by necessity. The longer people are exposed to a disguise, the higher the chance of them figuring out who one really was. While he was sure that the place would appreciate a business that a celebrity visit would cause, he would rather not be swarmed by those voracious Swalots.
With a chuckle to himself, he walked inside and went straight to the counter.
"Hello, I was told that there was a special Turtwig egg here. I believe 65 dots will suffice?"

Sale + breeding time

He had just received a message from Angel, who had been looking for a Slugma and wanted one for herself. Seeing as he had the benefit of an “extended storage” system, he then proceeded over to his Transporter and entered in some commands; and a few moments later two PokeBalls dropped into existence, which he quickly snatched up and was about to send backside when the bell rang, meaning someone was here for something! Holding the Pokeballs in his hand much like he’d hold eggs before dropping them over a frying pan, he then went over and saw that someone was wearing all-black; fedora, shades and even a trench coat to match—he could only wonder how this person could survive in the heat that was Humilau’s summer weather. Upon stating his business, he knew right away that this was the person that would be arriving for the Turtwig egg he’d gotten just recently—the only one. “Alright, gimme a second,” he said, before whistling—and watching a Krokorok amble out of the back room.
“Hie, take these out to the back,” he said to the bipedal crocodile—or was it an alligator—and then watched as it ambled away again before he stooped down and reached out for an incubator that had been waiting, the precious egg inside. “Here you go, thank you for the business,” he said, hefting the incubator that contained the Turtwig egg on the counter and taking the 65 that had been placed on the counter, still wondering why he would be wearing something so hot in this weather. He then proceeded to the back room—which actually opened out to the Ranch proper itself, and then quickly sent out the contents of the two PokeBalls, one revealing… another Ghost-type; and the other one very nearly scalded his feet! “Ouch, hot!” he shouted, jumping away as he saw a Slugma appear; and then looked sideways to the Lampent. “Kay, so someone wants a Slugma. I dunno how you two are going to hit it off, but be nice to each other. Don’t make me bail out the mushrooms…” he said, pointing in particular to the Lampent, since he had a short list of all of the Fire Lady’s mons along with their respective moves.
I think I know why she wants one… but that would be nuts… he thought, walking away as fast as he could before the two fire-types burned the place down.

•50 for 2 eggs
Her mobile phone beeped once, before going back into a peaceful slumber. A message. Reaching over with her left hand, her only free hand at the time, a young woman slid her index finger across the screen. Having successfully unlocked said electronic device, it would be natural to assume Erin was about to read her mail, but she didn't. Instead, the young woman let her small, white apparatus lay on her desktop long enough for it to, once again, camouflage in the darkness. The young woman was too busy staring at her large computer screen and alternating before shifting and clicking her mouse in erratic intervals to attend her phone.
Five minutes soon became ten; and ten, fifteen. By the duodecim fifth minute, Erin could barely remember the new message she had received. The trading day was almost done, and though it hadn't been particularly rewarding, that sweet mix of adrenaline and dopamine she felt whenever she needed to make the important choice of buying, selling, or stalling kept her going. It wouldn't be until her stomach complained at her less-than-healthy habits that she came back to life outside of the cyberspace.
Instinct led Erin to take her mobile with her. She fickled with it for a good five minutes—another five—before she noticed the message sitting at the top of her news feed. Realising this had been the reason the device had beeped all those thirty minutes ago, she quickly scanned the screen, tapped on reply, and proceeded to write up a short message in response.
"Mr. Sakuraba," she typed with expert fingers. "The fifty dots we agreed upon will be sent to your account shortly. I would like to thank you, again, for the prompt response and breeding, and wish you the best of luck with all other activities in the ranch. A friend of mine will be stopping by to pick up the two eggs in the following days."
Having finally addressed her pending mail, she lifted her gaze from the white device's screen back to her dimly-lit room, and resumed her journey to the kitchens.

where stars are drowning
A young blue-haired girl looked all around Humilau City with big, beady eyes. She could see the sea, and to the right more sea, and even more sea to the left. Unnur had to remind herself what she was here for so as not to dump everything right then and there and dive into the sparkly water. She hummed, as she made her way around the beach and into what would be Sakuraba Ranch, according to that sign hanging above the front door. This seemed to be the place. Unnur let out a deep sigh, mentally preparing herself for this bit of human interaction, before stepping in.
"I'm here to pick up two Snorunt eggs," she declared, bluntly, as she crossed the threshold. A kid, probably a feet or so shorter than her, stood by the entrance, but made no attempt to turn around even after she spoke up. For a fraction of a second, Unnur wondered if this kid was the person in charge, or if he was just playing around. "Hey, kid," she said, louder this time. "Do you know where the person in charge is? I'm here to pick up two egg-"
That was not a person. The thirteen-year-old blinked once, twice, then repeated her sentence once again, and with the same soft, monotone voice she had been using every time. "I'm here to pick up two eggs." Far from a surprised expression, what Unnur showed was a face of ice-cold indifference. She stared expectantly at the desert crocodile, as if waiting for the Pokémon to magically apparate the eggs she was supposed to retrieve from here.
Slugma. Ever since she had seen the Pokemon when someone showed it to her she thought it was one of the cutest Pokemon she had ever seen.
She had unfortunately not really learned how to go about finding Pokemon. She had asked Kouji if he could get her one hoping against what she thought was a long shot.. but apparently he could. She was so excited! This was well worth the saved up cash she had done.
She hated that she was busy and couldn't talk much, but today was also a day she was meeting up with her mother. Still, she got a good look at Kouji's ranch and was pretty impressed. She smiled as she bounced up to the counter and said.. "I'm here to pick up my Sluggywuggy's egg!" she had already placed the 25 dots she had promised on the table.. she was pretty excited. She knew it was just an egg, but it felt like in no time her Gastly had hatched.. so she was excited for Slugma hatching soon too!
Had she.. dressed up for the Slugma, or her mother later? Heh.

Kouji wasn’t present in the front desk at the moment—however his Krokorok was; because he was out in the “Incubation” room, fluffing up more hay bales and then preparing more incubators in case of an egg boom. He was secretly thanking his stars that he’d installed a ranch-wide intercom system, because right at that moment he heard it squeal for a few seconds before crackling; and then a tinny voice blared through it, looking for the two Snorunt eggs. “Oh shit!” he muttered, quickly looking around the area and then remembering that the eggs that were supposed to be ready for pick-up had already been placed outside! Back out front, the Krokorok looked first at the blue (or was it bluish-green?) haired little lady and then nodded, before trundling back towards the Nursery where he knew his master was doing some things. Kouji, on the other hand was halfway towards the door when the Krokorok stuck its head in and then motioned with its long snout, and he then smacked a hand to his forehead.
“Alright, I’m coming,” he said, walking towards the exit when he heard a familiar voice—who knew that Angel would be able to find him all the way up here in Humilau? “And that goes double for me too,” he said with a chuckle as he picked up the pace and then headed out the door of the nursery before shuffling towards the front desk; seeing two young ladies waiting there. To the first one who’d come for the Snorunt eggs, he then bowed, before disappearing for a moment—and then hefting up two identical incubators that housed two eggs. “Here you go, take care of them, okay?” he said, giving the two a gentle pat. At least they’re going with one person, so no issues of separation there… he thought to himself before seeing Angel’s uberly-happy face and then reaching down for the other heated incubator and then hefting it towards her way. “Here you go, the Slugma egg,” he said with this sheepish grin on his face; before hearing his mobile phone going off. “Please excuse me ladies, I’ve got some work to do…”
He then reached for the phone he’d left near the computer desk and then saw that it was time for him to make a scheduled breeding! Apparently, the same person who’d had the Turtwig egg had returned and was now going to send over the male Turtwig that had hatched, along with another companion—and this one surprised him, because it was a Treecko, albeit it was female. Whew, he thought to himself as he then plucked up the two Pokeballs that appeared in the transporter and brought them out back, before releasing the contents of the two. The first one materialized into the little bonsai-sipping turtle that had a garden growing on its back; while the other one turned into an exact replica of Yamori—though he knew his Treecko was up in one of the trees somewhere, lounging and eating some horde of berries it had plucked before navigating up to the tree.
“Okay, you two,” he said, squatting down and patting the two on their heads, “Someone ordered a few eggs from me, so please don’t disappoint, okay?” he said, particularly towards the Turtwig’s direction—why did he have a feeling something was going to go wrong today?

You have one new message!
"Bah. Phone again." A hand encased in a metal gauntlet blindly reached for the cellphone left on the bedside table.
Clang! Crash!
Riiiiiiiiiiing!
"Frickin' hell...." The same hand flopped onto the wooden surface with a loud thud, making the rest of the items jostle from their position on the table. Coincidentally, this made the cellphone fall to the bed in front of a pair of golden eyes.
Riiiiiiiing!
"...Right. Frickin' hell." A pillow was thrown at the clock, muffling the constant ringing.
Zernebog sighed. It wasn't the most quiet but it'll work. Now... to see what disrupted him sleeping off the jetlag. If it wasn't important, then he was going personally fly over to their home and burn it to the ground.
He snatched the phone in front of his face and then read the new message.
"...Huh." Eyes blinked blearily after a straight minute of uncomprehending staring. "165 dots. This better be good, Blondie and friend."

breeding request

Kouji had suddenly received an alert from his mobile phone; and shuffled over to the table to pick up where he’d dropped it. Seeing that there was a reminder flashing on the screen alerting him of the scheduled breeding he needed to do, he then went over to the transporter and punched in a few commands; and a few moments later, a Pokeball dropped in and he picked it up before heading out to the back. Wondering why someone wanted one of the headache-inducing Elgyem (but he could not judge, just go along with what they wanted) he decided to just go along with the breeding; seeing as the one who’d requested it was an acquaintance of a fellow Breeder he knew by sight but not by interaction. He then let out the occupant of the Pokeball, and saw that a Kadabra had decided to make its appearance; and right then and there he could hear a voice in his mind.
“So you’re the Breeder that Mistress is affiliated with? Don’t speak, you can communicate with me via your thoughts;” the Kadabra began—but there was no actual spoken dialogue; everything was taking place in Kouji’s mind! He was looking around, trying to find the source of the voice; before the same echoing noise reverberated in his mind again. “I’m right beside you. I know you’re surprised—and I know you can ‘see’ things that you cannot comprehend. Staying in contact with the Elgyem gives you headaches, does it not?”
He then looked down at the Kadabra; very surprised that it was communicating with him; before screwing up his thoughts and then speaking in his head, “Yeah, you can say that. Most of her legions are in good hands whenever they arrive here. Though most of them are quite surprised to find out about what I’m supposed to do. Now… uhhh… yeah let’s talk about that later, can we? Someone wants some minions of their own; plus they’re looking for certain… moves that you know,” he said with a very sheepish look on his face as he looked up and saw that Roswell, his female Elgyem, had levitated over and was now staring at them with a very confused look on its face.
“Ah yes, it is best for us to talk later. Do not worry, I will try my best,” the Kadabra chuckled in Kouji’s head, and he then slowly backed away, letting the two “communicate” as he made a mad dash towards the buildings that led back to his office and living quarters!

order ready + a little chatting

He was not surprised when he found out that the Kadabra and Elgyem breeding had produced two eggs. He could only wonder what was going to come out of the eggs once they hatched, but he was absolutely certain that someone was indeed going to come and get them. wondering just who was going to make the purchase, he then decided to send the person who’d requested for it a message; and let them know that the eggs were ready for picking up. he then tossed his phone onto the table and then went to the “Nursery” (he wasn’t into nicknaming his rooms too creatively just yet) and saw that two of the hay bales had eggs nested in them; he could only scratch his head in wonder as he then made way for the store house and brought out two incubators; before hefting each egg into its own separate incubator; then sealing them very carefully. Even now, while they were still in egg form, he could feel the “psychic waves” emanating from them—it was what was causing his head to ache a lot for the past few days.
Wondering if the Fire Lady didn’t mind him borrowing her Kadabra for a few more days, he then decided to go back outside and looked for Belphegor; and found him meditating underneath a tree. He then cracked a smirk before sitting down beside him; and then the two had a highly unusual conversation—because it was one where no words were spoken!
“Well, how’re you?” he began, screwing up his face in concentration and hoping that he was in the mood for talking—and to his surprise, the Kadabra answered. “I can feel your apprehension, you know. That the two eggs would be sent off to different places, am I right? Well, I may not know their fate; but I can certainly tell that you’re very bothered by the strange waves. It’s written all over your face.”
“Damn, am I that obvious?”
“Yes. Yes, you are. I always hoped for someone to talk to; I thought my Mistress would be able to communicate with me. I guess… I was mistaken. In any case, you’re bothered about those visions that you are seeing, correct?”
“How did you know?”
“You’re having a hard time sleeping because of it—and your eyes look more sunken than they usually do. I may have only been around for a while, but I can sense… that you’re bothered by it.”
“Geez, never thought that you, of all living Pokémon, would notice that. I guess I should embrace it, huh?”
“That… is your choice. I can only help you… find a direction, as you humans call it. Be careful about what you wish for, though, as your kind say. You might not get what you want.”

Kouji’s mobile phone went off, causing the tall, ash-haired individual to accidentally bump his head against the top of the desk! He realized that he’d left his phone atop the desk instead of inside his pocket, since he was busy fixing some of the frayed wiring that snaked down from the table that led to the electrical socket. Said frayed wiring was that of his computer’s; so he was basically cut off from the rest of the world until he got this fixed; so with a grimace of pain he then ripped off some electrical tape and then wrapped up the gnawed parts. Damn it, I really should get an exterminator to come by in a few days, check out this crap… I think I may be infested with rats or something… he thought to himself as he finished wrapping the exposed wires tightly and then rubbed down on the electrical tape so that it would hold in place. The buzzing went off again, and he then crawled back out from underneath the table, rubbing the back of his head. “Geez, I really should get another option asides from vibrate,” he muttered to himself, pressing down on the sore spot as he scrolled through the message and saw that the person he was negotiating with had agreed; although in exchange they wanted a Doublade.
Oh crud. I hope she’s not using the sentient sword… he thought to himself as he then wandered over to his Transporter and punched in a few commands; and watched as a few moments later, two Pokeballs then made their appearance. “Huh. Color me surprised she’s not using the Froslass?” he chuckled to himself, wondering what his benefactor was up to. Clutching the two Pokeballs in his hands like eggs ready to be dropped over a hot skillet, he then walked outside and released their contents; one revealing the “creature of legends” that his mother had told him about—a female getting lost in the mountains being reincarnated as this particular Pokémon. “Hello there... uhhm. Yukiya, right?” he began tentatively, as the second flash of red light transformed into a pair of sentient swords; bound together by a pink sash and their crossed sheaths. “Oooh, nice, she found one. Now I’m a bit jealous,” he said with a smirk on his face as he looked at the Doublade; which then…seemingly gloated at him before looking sideways to its partner. “Well, then. In exchange for a future investment I’m going to get, uhhh… can you guys go do your thing? Please be gentle,” he said, unable to resist as he said the last part of his little monologue towards the two ‘mons; looking particularly at the Doublade before bowing in their direction and then making a hasty retreat!
