APPEARANCE
But what makes him so good-looking anyway? Maybe it’s his angular features meshing together to create a handsome face framed by vibrant blond hair that’s either gelled down, in spikes, or left unruly. Or maybe it’s his pearly white teeth, always shown off in a polite smile or grin of some kind. What most people seem to agree on though is that his best features are his crimson eyes, which are always vibrant and intense. They have an almost hypnotic quality to them, which is best seen when they are set in a predatory gaze.
Altair’s second greatest vice –after singing, of course- is his love for stylish and fashionable clothing. While it had started as a ploy by his PR group in order for him to meet the approval of the public and of the critics, he has grown to love dressing that way. For him, he just feels at home in his suits, polo shirts, and slacks. Sometimes with a tie too, if he’s not wearing a necklace. As for footwear, he’s fond of black or brown leather shoes, or even sneakers and rubber shoes if he’s feeling casual. Expect his entire ensemble to match though, because it’s practically ingrained in his head to have coordinated outfits.
He has a particular love for accessories, especially gold jewellery. Blame it on his short street dancer phase. He will usually be found sporting a pair of gold earrings and necklace, sometimes even a couple of bracelets and rings. If not gold, then in silver or some other precious metal or sometimes in leather as long as they’re simple and not as ornate as women’s jewellery.
While travelling, he prefers to keep a low profile in order to keep the paparazzi from tailing him everywhere and basically ruining his day. As such, sunglasses and hats have worked their way into his wardrobe, with the occasional mask thrown in for special occasions. The clothes are still stylish as ever, but there’s far less emphasis on attention-grabbing and more focus on durability. As such, he’s prone to wear more leather, especially for his jackets and boots, and less bling in general.

PERSONALITY
Altair just oozes charisma. Anyone with a pair of functioning eyes and/or ears can attest to that. No matter his state of mind or appearance, he somehow finds a way to charm himself into the hearts of people. This charm just pulls people in, makes them listen, and makes it hard for people to get mad at him. This is true even when he plays villainous or truly despicable roles or when he’s actually furious.
Part of the reason why he’s so charismatic is because he’s just so optimistic about everything. For him, there’s always a silver lining to any situation and a solution to any problem. It’s this optimism that allows him to stay patient and determined at all of his endeavours despite the challenges and roadblocks life loves to throw at him. Otherwise, he would have quit and stayed anonymous instead becoming the star that he is today. On the same token, he has problems stopping and quitting when he should and often gets burned because of it.
Most optimistic people tend to be rather dense and oblivious, sometimes because it’s a coping mechanism for all of the terrible and difficult things they’ve experienced in life. Altair is not one of those people. As a kid, Altair has always been observant and loved to watch people. It was his acting career though that helped him hone his perceptiveness, making it become very sharp. After all, an actor has to be well-versed in human psychology in order to be able to deliver a good performance, and Altair isn’t just good at his job, but exceptional.
The only exception to his exceptional powers of people-reading and understanding is when it is about himself. He has mastered the use of masks and facades so well and has used them for so long that he honestly has difficulty in admitting hard things, especially about feelings regarding love. Because of his experiences and his natural reluctance to actually admitting weaknesses, he’s become a master of denial regarding his own feelings.
However, there are times where even his patience runs dry and his masks shatter. When that happens, he goes into fight-or-flight mode. He usually prefers to avoid and ignore his problems, with fight as an absolute last resort. When faced with no other alternative… he will explode like a volcano of seething rage and hatred. Usually it just starts with a slap or a punch, but it will progress into a full-on beating with his fists if not stopped early. Once he’s reached that breaking point, there’s no turning back because the beast has been finally freed from its chains and it won’t let up until it’s calmed down or has turned everything to ash. It’s happened before, and frankly it’s only thanks to his expert PR team and the fact that those at the receiving end usually deserved it that saved him from having the news spread around and having him labelled by the media as a violent psycho.
Mentions of a legendary temper aside, Altair is usually very nice, polite and friendly. It goes well with his natural charisma. He also has the tendency to be unintentionally flirty, often making women swoon or blush without meaning to. It’s gotten him into and out of a fair share of messes even before puberty hit. It’s just because he likes seeing people happy. He gets a bit awkward though when he actually likes someone back in the romantic sense… when he lets himself acknowledge those feelings at al. But he does know how to turn up the charm and be all suave when he needs to be.
With family and younger close friends, he has this tendency to be strict and fatherly. He often acts as their rock and main advice-giver, mostly because he’s become so accustomed to it over the years that it’s become a habit. Because of that, he’s often called the Big Daddy by his friends in the showbiz circuit and his siblings, which annoys him to no end because it makes him sound like a pimp.
Ambitions: He wants to prove that he’s not an airheaded pretty boy superstar like most of his contemporaries and that he can actually do amazing things in the real world like he does on the stage and in the silver screen. That’s why he wants to achieve a couple of things for himself, most of which he wants to achieve before going back to the glitz and glamour of celebrity life.

HISTORY
They had originally seen each other at a café, but they didn’t actually meet each other until their respective friends dragged them from their work to a night club. It wasn’t love at first sight by any means; in fact it was quite the opposite. However, they managed to eventually put aside their differences and become friends. In turn, their friendship eventually morphed into a proper relationship and marriage after two years of knowing each other.
In the first year of their marriage, they brought a bouncing baby boy into the world that they named Altair after Adelinda’s great-grandfather. Shortly after he was born, it soon became very apparent to the couple that it was going to be hard to raise a child in the bustling streets of Nimbasa City, especially with her waitressing job at a high-end restaurant and his job as a stock boy for a furniture store.
Because they were often gone from their apartment due to their jobs, they were forced to look for a babysitter. Fortunately, they were able to find one in one of Adelinda’s young friends, a teenager named Shelby who had dreams of becoming a star in the musical theatre circuit. Because of her, Altair was exposed to music –show tunes to be precise- at a very young age, which would shape the course of his life for years to come.
At first, Shelby was simply content to stay in the house and take care of the baby Altair while exposing him to show tunes at a very early age. However, once he learned how to walk at the age of two, she started bringing him along to meet her friends and have him hangout with them so that he would be further immersed in theatre culture. His parents didn’t mind since they seemed like a trustworthy bunch.
This had the unusual effect on Altair, which was first seen by him singing out his first word –mama- in a shaky tone instead of just saying it when he was three. This shocked his parents and made them contemplate switching babysitters because of her bizarre influence on him, but they couldn’t afford to because they had another baby on the way by this point. As such, Shelby continued to stay on as Altair’s main babysitter.
When the second child was born into this world, Altair experienced something for the first time – jealousy. The baby took away the attention of his parents and even his big kid friends! However, he was quickly pacified with a quick chat from his mom and then Shelby, who told him that he had new important role as the big brother and protector of his newborn sibling. The little boy ate this all up and took it to heart, which pretty much cut off most of the jealousy about his sibling. In fact, he even joined the others in fawning over her, though he pretended that he wasn’t doing so.
Shelby, along with her theatre buddies, began to take turns watching the two. One of them would take care of the baby while the other would watch Altair and bring him along to their auditions and sometimes even their classes. They even let him play with their pokemon.
All was normal until a few months after Altair turned six, when the small musical theatre play Shelby was in had problems when a kid and his understudy in the chorus skipped out again during one of his visits there. Out of convenience, the director put in Altair in their place instead since he was always there and had already memorized the lines. He ended up doing better than those the kids who were originally cast, so he removed them and replaced them with Altair. Altair’s parents never knew about this because they were too busy with providing for their families, often getting home very late at night to just crash in bed. They weren’t even suspicious when Shelby borrowed him for sleepovers whenever they did get home early. In his family, only his younger sibling really knew what was going on… somewhat.
The play ran for a year and earned both Altair and his babysitter money. On the advice of said babysitter, he started saving it up. After the play, Shelby decided to make it a habit to develop his singing even further and take him and his sibling out to sing on the streets for fun and maybe get money while they were at it along with what she used to do. It was there they found out that his younger sibling couldn’t sing at all, but made up for it in cuteness points and adorableness for trying. All in all, they were happy times.
When Altair was eight, his mom became pregnant again. The first trimester was fine, so other than the excitement of having a baby on the way nothing really changed. However, come the second trimester his mother and both he and his sibling were asked by Anthony to move to his dad’s place in Driftveil City so that he could watch over them during her pregnancy. Altair wouldn’t learn until years later that it was because she was already experiencing complications because of the pregnancy.
What irked both him and his sibling the most though was that they weren’t even able to say goodbye to their older friends before they moved to Driftveil, but they couldn’t really do anything about it. Despite their initial misgivings, they managed to adjust easily to Driftveil and their grandfather’s small breeding center business. It was a different kind of fun, having a lot of space to run and move for the first time as well as seeing all the hustle and bustle of trade. A particular highlight of Altair’s stay there was a daydreamer Karrablast that he befriended and had both real and imaginary adventures with. All in all, it was a happy time even though his mother’s condition slowly worsened (not that they were informed by their grandparents).
This all came crashing down when Adelinda died giving birth to their new sibling. It was very traumatic for Altair to watch his mother die as she made that final push. The funeral in was even more devastating and was the saddest event in his young life. Many people from all over Unova went over to mourn and give their condolences, including Shelby, who had just gotten her first big role in another theatre. All Altair could do was keep a strong face, burying all of his grief inside while supporting his openly grieving dad and sibling. Someone had to be.
After the funeral, the remaining family members spent a week in Driftveil to grieve privately before Altair and his father left for Nimbasa. They left behind Altair’s two younger siblings because there was no way that Anthony could take care of three kids while in his depressive mind state, especially not really young children, but feeling too guilty to make his parents raise all of his kids.
Upon the return to Nimbasa, Anthony tried to be a doting father at first. However, his need to drown his sorrows in alcohol and work from the death of his wife soon overpowered his sense of responsibility, leaving Altair alone for the most part. The young child had no idea on how to cope with the grief and started to resent his father for leaving him alone in his grief, so Altair simply decided to imitate him by finding something to suppress his sorrows and ignore them like his father was doing. That was when he started wandering the streets of Nimbasa by himself.
He managed to find a distraction by finding people and pokemon who were dancing in a strange way that he’s never seen before. He just watched them in secret, losing himself to the beat and their movements while humming along to the song until his thoughts start taking over and he had to leave before it starts really bugging him. However, one day he was caught by one of the dancers and his Darmanitan, who immediately suspected that he was a child spy sent by some sort of gang. Once he proved otherwise, Altair used what Shelby and her friends taught him in acting to convince them to teach him how to dance like that. The crew of dancers were suckered into it, but not before they made him promise that he would be part of their crew in turn.
Altair then spent the next three years learning and dancing with the crew, which he learned was named The Wild Buccaneers. During that time, he participated in a lot of dubiously legal things like races on Zebstrika and on cars in the streets, illegal human-and-pokemon dance-offs and royal rumbles, underage drinking and smoking (though he stopped the latter really quickly), and more. The gang even gave him a pokemon when they officially inducted him into the gang- a Pawniard that he named Javert. His father noticed his behaviour within a year, causing them to have many fights, often with one of them storming out and then giving each other the silent treatment for weeks on end. However, they still managed to present a barely-presentable face to their relatives whenever they visited.
At the end of those three years, his grandfather deemed that his dad was ready to care for the other kids as well. It was the resulting dysfunction between the family when the others came back that his dad finally made the steps that allowed him to get out of his funk and be the dad that his kids needed. However, unlike his dad, Altair was spiralling even further down into gang-related business and even started to think of them as a family. He was often away from home for long periods of time, causing the rest of his family to become very concerned, but he won’t listen to any of them.
Altair’s middle sibling then remembered the babysitter that they used to have and tracked her down, begging her to help Altair get back to normal before he was lost to them forever, figuring that he might listen to her since she was with him more than either of his parents anyway. By this point, Shelby, the babysitter, was a successful actress and coordinator, but she never forgot her friend Adelinda or the cute kids that she used to babysit, so she agreed.
The first meeting between Altair and Shelby was very hostile on the former and sad on the latter. However, she was very stubborn and continued to meet with him even though he didn’t want to see her and the rest of the gang didn’t want her around. Despite his best efforts to just ignore her, he eventually warmed up to her because of her persistence and even let her drag him to a couple of her shows, reviving his love of theatre and the stage. He even let it slip that he was still practicing his singing after all these years, though only in secret. Seeing that she had a hook now, she started giving hints of him trying to audition for a role or something in the upcoming revival of Les Miserables.
Altair remained noncommittal about it, but after some of his friends in the gang bet him that he couldn’t do it because he didn’t have enough swagger or courage to do it, he finally let himself audition for a role but only under the stage name Walter Heydrich, in honor of his mother. When he did audition, it was for an extra, but the director made him audition for Gavroche instead upon seeing the way he held himself. Needlessly to say, he nailed it because of his experiences, so he got the role. The gang was more amused that he had to prance around as some kid on a stage and made fun of it at every opportunity, but let him stay nonetheless.
Altair promised himself that he would stay for only the duration of his contract –one year- but he had a lot more fun and made a lot of new friends in the theatre circuit as well as mostly made amends with his family, so he started finding excuses to stay on the stage. One play turned into two, then three, then even more, until his gang started to get furious that he was starting to leave The Wild Buccaneers behind for some pansies. It came to a point that he was given an ultimatum – stay full-time or get kicked out. At the same time, he was offered to originate the lead male role in an upcoming play called Spring Awakening. Seeing their chance, Shelby and his family subtly began to suggest that he should drop the gang and just continue on since it seemed like they didn’t want him to pursue something he really liked, leaving him conflicted.
However, it was his father getting fired from work –he had risen up to the rank of salesman before then- that made the decision for him. He apologized to his crew, saying that it was necessary for him to take on the role because his family needed the money, but the leaders of the gang were firm about kicking him out even though his friends were adamant that he should still be regarded as a member.
Though Altair was depressed about that, he decided to bury it inside himself instead and threw himself into the play. However, his friend and co-star Rachel didn’t let him bury it inside and forced him to face what he was really feeling, making him get angry at her. In the end though, he did manage to face it and move on before the show started, which actually drastically improved his performance. It also made them much closer, but it wasn’t until the play opening that they became official. After all, with teenage hormones (even though he was 19 and she was 18) and the content of the play, it was only a matter of time anyway.
The play was controversial but wildly successful, running for over two years with the original cast before they decided to end their contract. As a gift for the success, Shelby and his siblings pooled together some money and gave him a Mienfoo that he named Evita. High off their success, Altair and Rachel decided to star in another show called Wicked, with him as Fiyero and Rachel as Elphaba. The play, as well as their lives, ran along splendidly aside from one little bump wherein his father tried to convince Altair that he didn’t need to work because it was his job and not Altair’s, but he quickly won that argument.
It seemed to only get better when one of the big studios offered him a role as James Bond in the continuity reboot of the movie series. He immediately took it and started shooting, which required him to go to places all around the world. The experience was amazing overall, but it had one downside- the distance and time away from Rachel, as well her jealousy over his newfound role and the girls that seemed to pop out of nowhere and started flirting with him, made him realize that they were better as friends. Despite that, it was Rachel herself who broke it off, citing the very same reason as well as the cliché it’s not you, it’s me line. Of course Altair was depressed again, but not as much as he probably should have been.
He decided to focus on his career and making money for his family instead. Casino Royale was a smash hit that propelled him into superstardom, so it allowed him to continue into on into the movie medium, both live-action like with a silver screen adaptation of Les Miserables as Marius and animated by lending his voice to numerous Prince Charmings and even a couple of pokemon. He went into modelling and started to model a couple of high-end brands, raking in the cash. Even his pokemon got into the action, receiving roles in the films and even some photoshoots.
It was two years into working in the movie industry where he met Santana while he was filming the second entry in the rebooted James Bond series, Quantum Solace. They actually hated each other at first, but it soon turned into infatuation and then love within a couple of months. The movie got mixed reviews, but Altair figured that the relationship he got out of it was worth it.
Strangely enough, Rachel, Shelby, and his family didn’t like her at all but Altair decided to continue dating her anyway. That bit him in the butt a couple of months later when he went to her house as a surprise and found her in bed with someone else. He slapped her, decked her, and almost broke up with her, but decided not to after a week of thinking it over. Both of them kept quiet about that little event in their relationship even though the paparazzi as well as Altair’s family and friends were snooping around.
Things were normal for a year, with Altair managing to be in two more films and a couple of guest appearances on TV shows as his character James Bond. However, underneath what seemed to be a great year was turmoil and tension between him and his girlfriend. That tension climaxed after that year, wherein he found her cheating on him again, this time with multiple men. After slapping her for a second time and turning his apartment into a broken mess, he decided to break-up with her for good despite her pleas.
Instead of facing the inquiries from family and friends as to why he broke up with her, he started filming the third instalment of the James Bond series instead and avoided all questions as to their break-up. He poured every bit of weariness and bitterness he had into the role, making it one of his best portrayals of any character that he’s ever done by the time that he finished the filming. He even went back to his singing roots for a bit and composed the theme song for the third movie. The movie was even better received than his first and the song he made even got an award.
After that, he started to fully immerse himself in his work, often jet setting everywhere and barely resting. Sure it was good for his fame, but bad for his sanity and his health, which those close to him were starting to notice. It got so bad that Rachel –who had become his best friend- had to step in and trick him into going to Driftveil city and spending some time there to rest and think about getting a vacation from all of his work.
While he was mad at her actions at first, Altair soon came around to see things their away and saw that he really did need a break. As such, with his grandfather’s suggestion and the prodding of an old friend of his in the form of a Karrablast that he decided to own and name Quixote, he decided to go on an extended hiatus and see the world as well as learn how to manage his grandfather’s breeding business on the side. Who knows? Maybe he’ll find something more than a break.
