It had been a few weeks ever since Damian had arrived in this new region—it was like a whole new world altogether. Who knew that the two-year long journey he’d make on foot starting from Arkose in Orre would bring him all the way here? Of course, even if he knew that there were ways that scientists and researchers like him could get around, he much preferred to wander around naturally; and as a result of that he’d worn out several pairs of boots along the way. He liked to study the various Flying-types in their natural habitats; which was of course following them in the wild. It was no easy road, for sure.
But now that he had enough data to work with, he knew that he was on the lead of something else—chasing the rumors that his fellow researchers had told him back in Orre: that there was an organization that had a prototype jet pack in the works. Now, the problem was presenting himself as a proper scientist! Two years on the road had done a wonder on him—in that span of time he’d packed on some muscle and had increased the endurance that his legs were used to. He could walk a very long distance like it was nothing; so much time out in the wilderness had taught him so much about the ways of Pokémon.
Of course, he didn’t forget about his research too; he’d filled up several journals and was now in the middle of completing his sixth compilation of notes when he’d finally gotten word that the organization that he was going to visit had its headquarters based in Wizen; with a climate akin to that of the region he’d previously worked in. knowing that he had to look his best (and most formal), he’d chosen his best-looking formal dress shirt, a pair of black slacks and straight-pointed shoes. His hair was its usual, tousled mess; and there was a pair of reading glasses perched on the bridge of his nose as he walked through the city, being very wary at the state of Wizen itself.
Sooner or later he’d finally found himself at the front of the headquarters of the organization that called itself ‘Interpol’ and was now staring up at the immense building—would he be able to get lucky today? He then clutched the briefcase that held his life’s work in it as he squared his shoulders; took a deep breath and then proceeded to follow the stream of human traffic that was zipping into its belly.
[attr="class","letitscroll2"]Sorry for the wait, and decided to skip the whole front desk NPC convo to spare us both some time and just speed up to Engel being summoned to talk to Damian. If you're confused or I need to edit anything, just let me know.
[attr="class","letitscroll"]Down at the entryway to the Interpol HQ, after Damian would be guided through the security at the entrance, along with his suitcase briefly inspected, he’d expect to be directed to the front desk where a young man excitedly greets him and asks him what brings him to the International Police Head Quarters today. With the information of him being the professor the League mentioned would be coming today, the young man, Luka, behind the desk happily nodded and shifted to look at the schedules of which Officers were available right now. Officers were of course the go to for all lab equipment and the Interpol technology, and were typically the ones brought forth to talk with any visiting professors. However, there was a meeting currently going on, a meeting that was likely going to take a few hours to complete. The secretary paused at the revelation and looked briefly worried as he didn’t want to waste a professor’s time. Drumming his fingers, he looked back up at the professor and gesture for him to wait for a moment to shift gears to the next best option.
Down in the training facility, Engel Werner was in the process of completing another scheduled obstacle course practice with his Noibat acting as his guide. Moving across a suspended platform, the room was nearly pitch black with just his bat’s eyes seemingly glowing in the dark. “Alright Ven, let’s work on the distance again” he breathlessly ordered, watching the bat fly off before he slowly knelt down. As he did though, there was a quiet buzz in his ear piece communicator. Pausing briefly, he considered what it was likely causing someone to actually contact him right now and reluctantly, he reached up to turn up the volume on his ear piece and stand up on his feet. “Ven, mantener” he ordered, the bat coming to a stop in the air in the distance.
Pressing his finger to his ear, he spoke back to the Technicians in the Training Facility’s control center. “Can you repeat that?”
“The front desk is requesting your assistance with a professor from the League, Commander Werner.”
“… The hell they want from me?”
“The Officers are in a meeting so the front is calling for you to come speak to him instead.”
If it weren’t so dark, the flat look crossing Engel’s face would’ve been very easy to see even from the distant watch area. After a long moment, he relented with a sigh and agreed to take up the task of meeting with the Professor. He could resume practice afterwards he supposed.
Nearly ten minutes after Engel was summoned to speak to Professor Moreau, the famous commander would exit the elevator to the underground facilities and finally make his approach to the front desk. In contradiction to the finely dressed Damian, Engel was still in sweats and tight v-neck t-shirt from his training moments before. His hair was slightly wet from the fastest shower known to man, but at least his hair was pushed back properly to allow his face to be seen and identified by Luka the Secretary – that’d been patiently waiting with Damien. As Engel approached, he was waved down by the energetic secretary and easily redirected his path to come stand beside him and look over at Damian with a curious gaze. Luka would be the first to speak up.
“Professor Damian Moreau, this is Commander Enegel Werner. Commander, this is Professor Damian Moreau.” Gesturing to each person as he spoke of them, the secretary turned to Engel and quietly apologized for the trouble, but Engel simply waved him off. Dismissed by the gesture, Luka returned to his desk work as Engel offered his hand to the professor in proper greeting.
“What brings you to the International Police Head Quarters today, professor?” he inquired, so to know where he needed to guide this guy. “Did you leave something behind during the League transfer to Bosky?” he tacked on. This wouldn’t be the first League Official to have left something behind here, after all. He was still stumbling across the occasional rogue Pokémon down in the underground training facilities.

It was luck mostly for Damian, since he’d already gone on ahead and blocked off the entire day in order to give ample time for the appointment that he’d scheduled via the League. However, there was just a bit of an oversight on the end of the person who’d finalized the appointment for him: they had conveniently forgotten to tell the person he wished to speak with over at Interpol that he’d be coming over today. Thankfully, though, he had all the time in the world to spare, and he was led off to one of the waiting areas in order to be able to speak with the person his contacts in Arkose had informed him about.
Fast-forwarding to the moment that the secretary had finally managed to summon her boss from the depths of the office, he then stood up before shaking the hand that had been offered to him in greeting. “Truth be told, I’m not here for something the League left behind, since I just arrived in Nue myself. I’ve been informed by my colleagues in Arkose, over in Orre, that you have a jet pack of some sort and it’s in the works, so to speak?” he began, going straight to the point—if there was one thing he was rather proud of, it was him never beating around the bush.
“I’ve worked over in the Orre region for six years, helping them refine their hover technology as a whole… and they told me that you have a jet pack that’s still not rather…functioning correctly, if I heard right from them,” he continued, before gesturing to the suitcase in his other hand.
“If it wouldn’t be too much trouble to ask, would it be alright with you if I took a look at it? I’d love to have the chance to work on and improve on its overall functionality, given enough time,” he added on to his earlier statement. Hell, if need be I’d present my thesis-in-the-making so that he’d see what I’m driving at, he mused to himself, wondering if the materials in his suitcase would be seeing some action, after his rather direct pronouncement.

[attr="class","longnotes"]sorry about the wait, i think hiro is on hiatus but gonna tag them and introduce kazuto regardless. if they can't post, i'll edit the post to remove kazuto's mentioning and try to find another technician or just npc this for you.
So this wasn’t a case of recovering some lost item, but instead a matter of requesting to borrow something of Interpol’s. Now he really wished one of the Officers hadn’t been busy, because he wasn’t as familiar with dealing with the tech as them. Shooting a look over at MANLY MAN LUKA THE SECRETARY, he would give the man a brief flat and annoyed look at being thrown under the bus. MANLY MAN LUKA THE SECRETARY just gave an innocent grin and sat back down to MAN THE DESK in the only way MANLY MAN LUKA THE SECRETARY knew how. Manlily, of course.
Engel’s gaze drifted back to Damian as the man spoke further on the details of the potentially letting this professor take a look at their jetpack in the works. Lord have mercy, Engel knew some of the techies could be a bit possessive of their work so this might be interesting, but he was clearly allowed to be here so Engel couldn’t tell him no. He’d just have to monitor the situation it would seem. So, nodding along to the rambling, Engel gave the professor a once over, before giving a pause to consider things. It was a short pause, before he’d start to turn away. “Well since you’re here, and clearly experienced with the technology, I don’t see the harm in it” he remarked, motioning for Damian to follow as he started off down the hall to head towards the 3G Labs – or well, it’s technically the Maintenance Sector, but it’s just become better known as the 3G Labs.
Coming to a stop at the massive metal sliding door to the labs, the low rumble and high pitch whines of the equipment being used inside. Beside the gateway to the sector was a wall sized cabinet set made of transparent plastic, inside each cabinet was a set of industrial earmuffs to spare the ears of those heading into the work zone since it was always pretty loud in there. Grabbing two sets, and handing one to Damian, he waited until they were both wearing them before moving over to the door’s keypad and typing in his personal code to open the door and make way inside. Had they not been wearing the earmuffs, the sounds inside would’ve probably overwhelmed them from the technicians hard at work. The area was like a playground for any inventor, machines of the highest quality within the grasp of Interpol’s hardworking techs. Massive powerful machines covered the place along with high quality tools and massive toolboxes, the tables were littered with scraps and works in progress. If Damian looked to the left, he could see some gadgets were currently in the process of being tested out as well behind protective barriers. Engel had been here so many times already, he didn’t stop to stare at the awe-inducing laboratory but merely went straight to work. Briefly pausing to chat to one, he turned to make sure Damian was following him before starting through the lab to make his way to a thankfully quieter section.
Pulling off his earmuffs as he approached the area, there was a wall of the few various jetpacks the Nue section of Interpol had to offer at the time being. Eyeing the collection, Engel didn’t exactly feel comfortable with the idea of touching these things – especially since they weren’t standard issue, yet. Which meant there was bugs in the system and he had enough issues trying to figure out his computer, he didn’t need a jetpack exploding in his face on top of everything else. So, looking around to try and find the closest technician that might be a bit more familiar with the gear, his eyes locked on a newer recruit by the name of—
“Oi, Shibuya, come over here!” he shouted suddenly and motioned for the young technician to come over to them. Turning back to Damian, he gestured to the hopefully incoming Kazuto. “This is one of our newer technicians Kazuto Shibuya, since the Officers are out at a meeting, he'll be a good go to in regards to the breakdown of the situation with Interpol’s jetpacks” he calmly informed and glanced down to the younger man once he approached. Nodding to him, Engel nodded back to Damian and gave the technician a quick update on the situation. “Shibuya, this is Professor Damian Moreau from the Pokémon League. He studies aerodynamics and was interested in taking a look at the jetpacks we have. Are you familiar with those?”
