Twenty-Eight (11/22) | Homosexual Demiromantic | Fortree, Hoenn | age | sexuality | hometown |
Appearance Standing at five foot nine and a half inches tall and having just enough body mass for someone healthy of his stature and age, anyone’s first impression of Damian is that he gives off an intimidating air—but that’s only because most of the time he spends himself buried in his research and studies. If one was to ask what color his hair was; some people would say it’s a lightish-sort of gray; or that it has similarities to a grayscale photograph—not unlike graying hair of people who’ve already reached a certain age of dignity. The unusual shade of his hair can make it look like a very faded hue of silver under certain lighting conditions; otherwise nobody can really pinpoint what his hair’s real color looks like.
His dark purple eyes have the most piercing stare—mostly because he’s always looking rather intently at all the piles of papers, notes, diagrams and sketches that he’d be found to work on while having free moments to spare. He can definitely hold his own; and can lift weights that belie his true physical mass; but otherwise one can call Damian ‘normal’, save for his hair. His fashion sense can mostly be seen in the grayer, neutral shades of the color spectrum; always preferring to wear light lavender-colored dress shirts, formal pairs of slacks; and an oft-hidden pair of shoes that his slacks conceals most of the time. He doesn’t mind wearing a formal suit and tie if the occasion calls for it; seeing him wearing normal shirts, jeans and sneakers is a rare occurrence in itself.
Personality Intelligent: his rather keen mind emerged from a young age; having always been seen reading books and studying related materials. He’d rarely go out and play with the other kids—because for him, education is the only thing that can comfort him.
Down-to-earth: unlike some of his peers and cohorts who get all big-headed whenever they make a big discovery, he still ‘keeps it real’, so to speak. Even if he does have a brilliant mind, he never forgets to be ‘himself’, a rather surprising quality for a researcher and scientist of his caliber.
Observant: he always keeps an eye out on anything and everything that happens around him. Sometimes, though, this can get out of hand because he’d end up watching rather suspicious activities that would be really embarrassing otherwise.
Hard-working: a trait that he exemplifies to the fullest, all of his fellows have noticed that once Damian gets started on something, he will continue to work on it until the result presents itself. Sometimes, though, his being hard-working can get the better of him and he tends to neglect his health; all for ‘the glory of flight’.
Patient: if there’s something that he’s rather proud of, it’s the fact that his fuse is much longer than most. It takes a long time to make him angry, and one would be wise to not test his patience, because if ever he’d end up snapping, his temper would be…
Explosive: like a fleeting volcano, he rarely snaps; but when he does, expect to see a ball of fury walking towards you wearing the finest clothes he can afford. His temper is best released up in one big, aggressive shot, and then it’s back to his pleasant, uber-patient nature.
Absorbed: due to his rather… ‘scientific’ nature, most of the time he’d get into things too deep and would only emerge if someone was to call his attention—or surprise the hell out of him, really.
Passionate: both a positive and negative for Damian, whenever someone brings up anything that’s related to his fields of study, he’d immediately snap on to the topic and discuss things to his heart’s content. Of course, this doesn’t come without its downside: sometimes he can get too carried away and not realize that he’s overstepping on some boundaries.
[/PTab={tab-font-size:18px;tab-color:white;}][PTab=HISTORY]History The Moreaus are a clan of many different talents; but most of it lies in the field of flight in general. Some of the earlier ancestors who hail from the Johto and Unova regions had mostly dealt with the Flying-types; some of them even had gone on to be fellow Trainers who were stationed in the Gyms in those two particular regions. Most of the males are known to be successful Bird Keepers; or in some cases owners of bird sanctuaries scattered across the areas of the known world. Females who married into the clan and carried on the Moreau name were mostly associated with the modeling and clothing industry—particularly, the use of Pokémon plumage in order to accentuate, accessorize, and otherwise create fabulous feats of fashion with the feathers from the Flying-types that shared the world with humans.
One particular branch of the Moreau clan had moved out from Johto to Hoenn; and this is where Damian’s story begins; born in Fortree City on a damp, balmy evening. Most of his early life revolved around living alongside nature; but what really got his attention from a very young age were the many flocks of Flying-types that always flew past the town; or sometimes stopped over for the winter in Hoenn; due to Fortree’s tropical climate as compared to the other regions that existed at the time. Initially, he’d sparked the crazy, near-impossible idea of having humans fly in the sky with wings, without the help of technology. Even if his father was a well-known sanctuary owner that catered to Flying-types in the Hoenn region, he would only scoff and advise his young, precocious son to try and look for a more reasonable goal to achieve.
Even as he turned to his mother, he was met with the same criticism and scorn; for human flight without technological aid was crazy, if not near-impossible to achieve. This didn’t stop him from pursuing his dreams, though—so the moment he was able to read, understand and comprehend the more complicated things that they were teaching at school, Damian then quickly took to the library and began to borrow out every single book he could find that discussed the subject of flight; and how one could possibly achieve it. Normally, once kids reach the infamous age of ten years they can elect to go on their journeys into the world of Pokemon; but Damian here was an exception—instead choosing to stay further in the field of education and learning; leaning more towards the scientific and mathematical courses that were tailored for children who wanted to learn more and get a degree after college.
After graduating near the top of the batch with honors won in mostly his science-related classes, he then approached his family and asked if it would be possible for him to go to another school of higher learning—namely, college. This then sparks a rather large fight with his parents; but after going on the defensive and flooring his parents with the achievements that he’d won all throughout his stay in the lower years, were convinced that their son had a rather brilliant mind; and finally agreed to let him go off to Mossdeep, in order to attend the technical college of his choosing once he’d arrived in the city itself. Once he’d obtained his parents’ blessing to move out so that he can focus anew on the goal that he was now carrying within him, he then moved out to the city where the fields of rocketry and aerodynamics made their home in the Hoenn region.
The precocious eagerness and intelligence that he’d displayed in his younger years began to manifest more and more the deeper he plunged himself into his collegiate studies—and even if he was still just a junior in his course that had something to do with aeronautical sciences and engineering, he displayed the same drive and love for the Flying-types of Pokémon that existed—in a way, he didn’t abandon his clan’s roots; he just chose to manifest his interest and drive in a completely different field altogether. He then began going on more and more ‘field assignments’, observing the flight patterns and habitats of everything that had wings—initially he’d just chosen to study the avians; but after digging deeper and finding out that there were such Pokémon that existed and could levitate without the need of using wings, he decided to encompass and further his studies around the several he’d picked out that could float without the help of visible ‘wings’ in general.
A few days before he’d graduate from college at the age of twenty, several of his friends had decided to gift him with his first Pokémon, the Magnemite that he fondly refers to as ‘Wrecker’; for the unusual magnet-shaped creature had a rather…interesting history. Once he’d found out that the Magnemite could float in the air without wings, he then chose to take him along on his journey around the known world. After graduating college with several honors and awards to his name, he knew that there had to be something more—and after inquiring with his professors in school about what his fields of study really focused on, some of them had directed him to search in another place called ‘Orre’, where rumors of hover technology had been developed, but had yet to be proven to exist outside the region of origin.
Once he’d contacted his parents and informed them of his decision to start traveling, his father had decided to send him a present, in the form of a Skarmory, which he refers to as ‘Sky Dancer’, in order to keep him company. The Skarmory further piqued his interest in the study of Flying-types as well; because for starters, how could something with sword-like blades for feathers be capable of flight despite its seemingly heavy appearance? Now that he had two companions, he then began his long journey to Orre, only arriving there after spending several months on boats that had carted him from region to region. Once he’d finally arrived in Orre, he then began to make inquiries; before finally being shown to the city where the hover technology has been said to originate from, Arkose.
Knowing that he was going to have a bit of a problem trying to get as close as he could to the main fortress where the technological development was taking place, he then came up with a plan—by contacting his old alma mater in Mossdeep and asking if they had a graduate school course that would allow him to enroll in his chosen field, so as to even further hone and refine his studies. Several weeks of negotiation (and waiting) later, the papers had been shipped to him at Arkose, officially recognizing him as a student currently travelling on ‘field assignment’ until further notice (the several weeks of waiting had him negotiating over the phone and getting him enrolled remotely, as well as giving him the majority of the materials that he would be needing for his classes that he’d be taking online via mail and post parcel deliveries).
After he’d finally gotten the papers all fixed and presented himself as what he was—a student that wished to further his studies in the fields of aerodynamics by observing Orre’s hover technology, he was finally accepted as an intern in one of the professor’s labs, where he began to work extensively alongside the teams that continuously developed and refined the technology of the age, making it stable and more accessible than ever before to the common people. Of course, everything was kept under wraps; and it was during the course of his six-year stay with the scientists in Arkose that he’d begin to work on his thesis—to make an actual piece of technology, using the knowledge that he’d gained from studying Flying-types and hover technology a reality. Why he’d chosen a pair of jet blades was anyone’s guess; but once he’d reached his sixth and final year of stay with the scientists—who’d grown to accept him as one of their own kind in their field of study even if he was just a graduate school student, he already had the workings of a mind that could potentially surpass their most capable scientists, give or take a few years.
During his six-year stay with the people of Arkose, he’d also discovered something rather unusual about himself: that he wasn’t really attracted to people of the opposite gender; in fact one of his first loves was a fellow male scientist that he’d worked particularly together with, since their fields of study were almost the same. After figuring out that his taste in love was on the same side of the spectrum as his gender, he chose to keep it a secret—at least until some of his other friends found out. The initial rejection was hard on Damian, but even if he’d been politely turned down by his colleague after confessing his feelings for him, he still didn’t lose sight of his goals of making his thesis in the works a reality. Once his tenure of stay with his cohorts had drawn to a close, the team that he’d worked with presented him with not just one, but two hover boards for him to take along—one for his own personal use; the other for him to tinker around and disassemble as he so pleased. The head scientist had also informed him about an organization that existed in another region entirely that has a prototype jet pack in the works; and that his own work had been sent to the Pokémon League as well for evaluation and review.
He was pretty much well on his way to becoming a League-recognized individual that dealt with the study of Flying-types and Aerodynamics, once he’d present the final product, which is still in the works, so to speak. At the same time that he’d departed for this new region that they called ‘Nue’, he’d also gotten a rather pleasant surprise—that a research grant would be given to him, under his name, once he’d arrived in the new place altogether. Once he’d completed the long, harrowing, two-year self-learning journey across several regions (and meeting more or less the current team that he carries with him) before finally arriving in Nue, he knew that there was another field ahead of him: one that needed scientists of his caliber in the area altogether. The first order of business on Damian’s list is to find the organization called ‘Interpol’, and start negotiations with them to see if he could possibly use, maybe borrow their prototype jet pack for his fields of study.
Ambitions Damian’s main ambition is to mainly figure out how to be able to give humans the power of actual flight via advances in the field outside of hover tech; therefore his main fields of study lies in the field of Flying-types as well as the various moves and Abilities that several Pokémon possess (like Levitate and Magnet Rise, for starters).
He wants to know what makes them float without having to do anything (or exerting any effort, how does it come naturally to them); and one of his grandest dreams is to make a viable pair of jet blades that normal people can use in daily life, but of course that’s a far-off dream for now.
