Reassured by the familiar hum of Cider's engine, Luella didn't dare stray too far from the van that guarded her most precious valuables. Her most reliable Pokemon were in charge of watching over the van until she came back, which they didn't seem too happy about at first, but Luella promised them that she wouldn't be out by herself in the woods for long. Besides, she reasoned, she had the company of her Clamperl and Togepi to make the hunt for those elusive Wurmple all the more enjoyable.
Normally Luella would've carried the Togepi wherever she went, but her arms were full with the nearly immobile Clamperl, who took in the green petals that filled the sky with wonder and awe. Echo found herself enjoying the melodies of the birds as their shadows zigzagged across the ground, eventually melting into the shadows of the rustling trees. Neo didn't seem to mind walking by Luella's side, but Luella had a bad habit of walking faster than the tiny Togepi's legs could keep up with, and Echo often had to remind her to slow down so the Togepi could catch up.
"We could all use the exercise, huh? It's a nice day too. Really feels like Spring is here." Closing her eyes, she took in a deep breath when a warm gust of wind caressed her hair, flipping it around and teasing it into a fluffy mess until it got bored and dashed towards the trees. "I remember seeing Wurmple all the time back at home. I used to pick them up and play with them when I was a kid. They'd make a good training buddy for you, Neo." She commented, feeling awfully pleased at the prospect of evolving Neo so that she could focus on babying the other Pokemon she planned on raising. Judging on the way her Pokemon changed post-evolution, evolving brought a newfound sense of maturity after the Pokemon changed appearances. She could imagine it now; a mature, strong and silent super egg that fell from the sky to save the day. She needed this in her life.
It took some searching until they were able to find the rumored Wurmple; Luella dug through the bushes, Neo peered through hollow logs, and Echo was tossed into the air to check the trees for wild Wurmples. When they finally bumped into one, it happened to be dangling in mid-air, clinging tightly to a thick piece of string with an amused laugh. Clearly this little guy knew how to make the most of it out here, Luella thought with snort. "That's what we're looking for." She glanced towards Neo to see how the Togepi would react to fighting another Pokemon, but Neo didn't appear concerned about the matter. 'He probably doesn't realize what a battle's like. Maybe he's not ready.' With a thoughtful hum, Luella wondered how she was going to handle this situation. She had Echo on hand, but the Clamperl wasn't a fan of battling. She was kind of a wuss when it came to pain, Luella supposed.
But maybe this could be a good learning experience for both of them. "Echooooo. You should fight it for Neo's sake. He might learn how to defend himself if he watches you." Plan A was to plead with the Clamperl in her arms, but Echo wasn't having it. She promptly clamped her shell up tight in response and pretended that she couldn't hear the rest of Luella's whining. "Fine, fine. But will you at least help him? Your shell is one hell of a defense, Echo. That little worm isn't a threat to you. Just like. Use a Water Gun on it when things get too rough. Please?" She knew Echo could hear her, even if she acted like a stubborn hardass when her shell was shut.
Echo considered the offer and finally popped her shell open, hardly finding the playful Wurmple much of a threat when it looked as young and innocent as Neo. With a hesitant nod, Echo chirped out her compliance with the task. This was going to be Neo's battle, but she could be back-up if it came down to it.
[ BABBY'S FIRST BABBLE ]
They could've jumped the Wurmple with a surprise attack if they really wanted to, but Luella figured that if she asked the Wurmple for a battle, then it'd feel more casual and easy-going. Sure enough, the Wurmple hopped off of its swing and gave the Togepi a friendly bob of its head, greeting its opponent to let him know that there weren't going to be any hard feelings about this. Echo was content to be a spectator in Luella's arms, and she cheered the Togepi on with tiny toots and words of encouragement. <If it gets to be too much, don't forget that you can back out at any time!> Echo called out as a small reminder, and once the two Pokemon looked as if they were done sizing each other up, the Wurmple pointed a stubby arm at the Togepi and spat out a String Shot at the egg Pokemon's legs.
Curiosity took over when Neo bent over to check out the stretchy, sticky goop that started to harden over his feet, leaving him vulnerable to a surprise Tackle from the incoming Wurmple. Startled from the force of the impact against his the hardness of his shell, the Togepi staggered backwards, rapidly shaking his arms in circles until he could get his balance back together. "Ah, he got back up." Luella narrated from the sidelines, but it wasn't until Neo glanced up at her with teary eyes that she realized that maaaaaybe he wasn't so good at doing this by himself.
<I don't think he wants to do this, Lue Lue.> Echo squirmed around in Luella's arms until the blonde let her drop to the ground, and while the Wurmple was debating whether it was right to fight an unwilling opponent, the Clamperl sprayed a gentle Water Gun upon the Togepi's feet, clearing away the sticky goop that made it so hard to move around. <In the wild, Pokemon don't just evolve from beating each other up. Playing can be just as effective.> The Clamperl commented, giving the Wurmple a friendly smile once Neo was all cleaned up.
[ NAH, TRAIN THE BABBY INSTEAD ]
It was thanks to Echo's suggestion that the Wurmple decided to show the group around his his favorite spots to roughhouse with the other Wurmple. He fired a String Shot from branch to branch as if he was a monkey swinging from vine to vine, and upon seeing how nimble the Wurmple was, Neo attempted to grab hold on one of the sticky ropes the Wurmple left behind. Getting the momentum he wanted wasn't easy once he inched up the rope, but Luella was amused at Neo's attempts and gave him a gentle nudge, keeping a close eye on him in case he was at risk of a nasty fall. The first jump Neo made left Luella and Echo holding their breaths until Neo managed to grasp at the swaying string in front of him, and while he wasn't as nimble or light as the Wurmple was, Luella gave the Togepi enough nudges to ensure that he felt some sort of satisfaction once they arrived at their destination.
The workout left Neo out of breath, and as he dropped from the last rope, he collapsed onto the ground and inwardly lamented about the soreness in his hands and arms. <That's not even the beginning.> The Wurmple giggled, helping the Togepi up and gesturing towards the various parts of the forest that made for enjoyable entertainment. He started off by pointing at a group of dandelions, which were heavily condensed in one spot until they suddenly scattered across the dirt and grass in an attempt to catch as much sunlight as they could.
<The roots at the bottom of those dandelions are amazing. They make good snacks, but they're tricky to pull out. A friend of mine evolved because she picked those every day.> The Wurmple boasted with a proud smile, gesturing for the Togepi to follow him until they singled out the leaves of a weed that had yet to bloom. Fair game to eat though, the Wurmple grinned as he easily yanked one out after digging around it. <See? You do this, and you'll go places. Plus it's good for the grass.> With a mouthful a roots in his mouth, the Wurmple urged the Togepi to give the task a try.
The first attempt left Neo's hands feeling raw and sore, but when he managed to get that root out into the open, he beamed at his success with pride. He even tried tasting it too, but alas, he wasn't a Wurmple and found the taste miserable, and quickly spat it out. <Hey hey hey. Don't waste good food.> Snatching the root out of the Togepi's hands, the Wurmple scarfed the rest of it down, and encouraged the Togepi to help him dig more up.
Wurmple ate up what he could, and Neo was determined to pull up as many weeds as he could, even finding it pretty fun after seeing how happy the Wurmple was when his cheeks were stuffed and his belly buldged out from all the grub.
Their day of play moved onto a game of hide-and-seek tag, where Echo and the Wurmple were encouraged to hide until Neo could find them. But the game didn't end there, since Neo had to actually tag them if he wanted to win the game.
Luella watched from the sidelines, occassionally tuning out to stare up at the birds that ominously gathered around the tree branches in search of food. Pretty little things, but she wasn't about to let them eat the Wurmple she wanted to catch. Echo didn't bother to run very far when the Togepi found her hiding behind one of the trees, and once the Clamperl was back at Luella's side, Luella asked her to spray a light Water Gun at the birds to keep them at bay.
Finding Wurmple, on the other hand, was another challenge entirely. Neo wandered around with Luella's assistance, warning the Togepi whenever he strayed too far from her view. Echo was a bit of a sap and gave the Togepi hints through incredibly obvious puns, which led the Togepi to a prickly bush that the Wurmple managed to wedge himself into. Right before Neo could tag him, the Wurmple screeched and sprayed his face with a String Shot, buying the Wurmple enough time to tumble out of the bushes and climb towards the nearest tree.
That String Shot was a pain in the ass, but after some tugging and whining, Neo loosened up the string so that it dangled off of his cheeks like a pair of whiskers. Wurmple didn't run off too far by the time Neo started to chase him down, but there was no way this little egg could climb a tree as easily as the Wurmple. But Neo had another idea.
With his cheeks puffed out in determination, the Togepi rose his arms up and yanked several rocks out of the earth with a funky blue aura that carried them towards the Wurmple. Ancientpower wasn't his best attack, but it was his best chance at knocking the Wurmple off of the tree so he could tag him. The first few rocks missed their target as the Wurmple scuttled around the tree trunk, but with another irritated grumble, the Togepi shot another Ancientpower where he assumed the Wurmple was about to crawl to.
The second attack connected, and with a pained squeak, the Wurmple fell to the ground in a frazzled daze, leaving him more than vulnerable to the Togepi's pounce, finally ending with the Togepi's win.
The group played the game for another round, with the Clamperl being 'it' due to being tagged first, but Echo had a harder time moving compared to the other two. She managed to find the Wurmple at least after hopping around with a Water Gun, and she even managed to catch him by dragging him towards her with a cheap Whirlpool, which stung the Wurmple for a bit, but it was nothing compared to Neo's rock-type move. She almost gave up on finding Neo, but the Togepi revealed his hiding spot with a tiny sneeze, leaving Echo to catch the Togepi in a similar fashion.
As hilarious as the scene was, Luella didn't dare to intervene until all 3 Pokemon were successfully tuckered out after the third round of hide-and-go-seek tag, and when the Wurmple looked ready to nap after all the snacks and fun, Luella tossed a Pokeball at him to seal the deal.

It was fun to just sit back and relax every once in awhile. To feel the sun on your skin and just spend time with his Pokemon. This was one of those days. He'd found a nice little picnic area for all of them to relax in, well except for Riya who'd wanted to stay home and Mr. Pinch who was helping to guard the farm. He wasn't really sure why they always insisted on guarding the place since it wasn't even that well known yet but he appreciated their concern. For now he just wanted to sit back and relax and forget about the fact that he had a couple eggs sitting back at the shop that had yet to sell. It was stressful managing a business like this but he wasn't going to give up so easily,
Spreading the blanket out on the ground he set the basket down on it and touched a couple of the Pokeballs on his belt. He was sure that all of his Pokemon would enjoy a chance to relax but letting them all out at once seemed to be a dangerous idea. After all what if they started to pick fights with one another? Then again it would probably be just as good of an idea to make sure that they got along with one another. "Okay so..." Plucking some of them off of his belt he pressed the buttons, releasing three of them so that he could maybe spend time with them in turns. Then it wouldn't be too big of a deal if something happened.
Out of the Pokeball's came a motley crew of Pokemon. Roni, his male Nidoran instantly saw the blanket and spread out over a corner of it. So long as there was food and a good place to sleep he was fine with whatever his breeder wanted him to do. So far he hadn't really had to do anything but sit on a bunch of cushions and have his fur carefully brushed by Henri while they waited for someone to come along and want them to produce more eggs. It was an easy life and it was one he enjoyed. Sure he didn't really think he would evolve any time soon but the only ones that were concerned with that sort thing were Riya and Pierce.
The rest of them were perfectly content with just lazing around. At least that's the way he saw it. As the rest of his Pokemon settled on the blanket he found himself sitting comfortably and opening the basket. "Alright, let's see what we've got in here... I made sure to pack a bunch." He wanted to make sure he had plenty of food for all of his Pokemon so that they could enjoy their time out. He didn't realize that this would lead to other Pokemon poking around. Oblivious to the fact that three very curious and very hungry heads had popped up out of a bush nearby he started to place the food out on the blanket.
Even though he was oblivious it didn't mean that everyone was. Another Pokemon that had been released was already on the trail of the wild Pokemon that were going to attempt to cause mischief. Oliver was excited at the fact that he was out and about and that there were so many new smells to be smelled. So many new things to be seen and so many new Pokemon to meet. Henri didn't want him to wander off too far though since he was pretty sure that there would be trouble if he got into anything. Not that he thought his Pokemon would cause trouble on purpose.
It just happened that sometimes people didn't like Pokemon crawling all over their things. He couldn't see why though. He liked whenever his Pokemon were all over the place. However it was the barking that caused him to look up and the sudden sound of Oliver yelping and running back to the blanket, a trio of wurmples following behind him. Unfortunately they didn't really look like they were friendly. "H-hey... Let's not get too hasty with this entire thing okay? I'm sure we can talk it out. I've even got plenty of food if you want some?"
A string shot to the face was his answer and that was enough to make Roni sit back up. It was one thing to let them play around with the excitable pup that probably deserved to have his heels cooled some. It was another to attack their trainer who had just been trying to offer an easy way out instead of the battle it was about to become. "Roni i don't really want to battle them..." His voice was quiet though as he picked the string shot goop off of his now ruined shirt. It was quiet enough that it didn't really even count towards him telling them not to fight.
( You decided to mess with the wrong trainer there. ) Roni ran forward, his horn down as though he was going to be charging towards them with some sort of poison attack only to have it start rotating suddenly. It took one of the wurmples by surprise, sending it flying back into a tree and knocking it out quickly. Henri closed his eyes tight. "I'm so sorry! I didn't want to fight like this!" It was upsetting to him that they were fighting wild Pokemon like this even if they had started it. Essie wasn't quite as pleased as the two boys on the team with the fact that this entire thing had turned into a battle, though she was capable of seeing that they had something of an advantage over the wurmple trio.
Well, now it was reduced to a duo with Roni's attacking. The KO of their teammate only seemed to anger the other two Pokemon and they began to rush the Nidoran who had caused it. ( You're the one that's going to be sorry! Its still two on one bub! ) They were falsely confident. The tackle assault on Roni caused him to retreat slightly to try and grab his bearings. He wasn't used to battling and attacking like that had caused him to be a little dizzy. It wasn't an attack he wanted to use very often, not when it left him slightly incapacitated for a few moments. After all they were stronger than a human bred kept Pokemon, right? Not really.
To be honest they'd made their way by being bullies that picked on younger trainers who only had one Pokemon to their name. ( It's not like he's alone you know! ) Oliver was over the fact that he had been the victim of a sneak attack by the bug group and was ready to fight. Feeling his fangs warm up he rushed at one of the Wurmples enthusiastically, very nearly falling over his own small paws as he did. Right before he bit down they finally managed to catch fire and the wurmple was hit with a Fire Fang attack. ( Stop it! This isn't how its supposed to go! I'm going to make you pay for that! )
The Wurmple launched himself back at the Lillipup since it decided to not take the hint and back off. They were going to take that picnic basket and there was nothing they could do to stop them. Latching onto Oliver with a Bug Bite attack he bit down hard, trying to get in as much damage as he possibly could so that the normal type would let go of the other Wurmple. It worked and as Oliver yelped in pain the other wurmple took the time to aim a Poison Sting attack at him. "STOP IT! YOU'RE HURTING HIM!" Henri stood up and tried to stop the battle with his own body.
If he couldn't make his Pokemon stop battling then maybe he could force it to stop. It was enough to cause the Wurmples to pause with their assault, stunned at the fact that a human was trying to stop the battle himself. Taking the last moment of confusion to try and help Essie decided that it was her turn to throw into the battle. She didn't want to fight but if it meant helping out her new human and teammates she wasn't going to just sit there. Concentrating hard she shot a MoonBlast attack at them, hoping that it didn't hit her teammates as well.
It also gave Oliver another moment to bite down once again on the Pokemon that had attached itself to him. Suddenly though all was still, a panting mess of bugs and Pokemon that were worn out from the intense battle. It hurt him to see that his Pokemon had caused so much hurt even though they had just been defending him. Rubbing his eyes he pulled out enough Pokeballs for the three Pokemon he'd inadvertently caused to faint because he wasn't good enough to calm them down quickly enough. Calling all three of the Wurmples inside of the last of his empty Pokeballs he hoped that he could get them to a Pokemon Center before they got too tired.
Still distressed he sat down next to his Pokemon and pulled them all into his lap. It was easy to see they were all worn out and that going home would probably be the best thing to do. "Thanks you guys... I know you were just protecting me. How about we just have our picnic at home?" Putting his Pokemon back inside their Pokeballs he gathered up all of his things and headed back to the breeding center.
@idk - 1610 - battle exp for roni, oliver and essie - surprisingly high

at most I'm sleeping all these demons away
Today had been nice, sunny and turning more springlike. Trees were starting to get their leaves back, green was everywhere, and you could already smell the blooming buds of flowers in some places. It was lovely. The best time of the year. Novel was already excited for the harvest to come; the crops in his own field were sprouting nicely. Especially the strawberries; those would be excellent. Those fleeting thoughts and feeling of pride had reminded him that maybe he was due for a visit to his parents. It had been a few weeks, and even with daily phonecalls, he knew that his mother missed her baby boy and his dad would be eager to hear all about battles he was in. This is why, even though he had heard on the news about the Bugs, he was out walking the dirt-worn path to his parent's farm.
It would be a half day's walk out there, and Novel was already halfway there. He would probably just spend the night since night would have fallen well after he was finished visiting. Sure, it would have been easier to ride a bike or something, but that took all the fun out of it. It was always a surprise to see what you could find just by looking around, taking your time with something. So far he had seen lots of bird pokemon in the area, some he knew were even quite rare. If he were a birdwatcher he would have been more excited, but it was still a treat. They were no doubt enjoying this influx of bugs as much as the local Trainers were.
It was time for lunch, so Novel could worry about that later. Finding a nice tree on the side of the road, he sat down under the branches and sighed. Harold and Nancy were back home, tending the Gym, but he did have Sal and Max with him. It was always important to travel with at least one Pokemon when you were venturing out into the wilderness. Even if this area was a bit more tame than others, it still was true. So, calling out his two Pokemon, he started to unpack the small lunch he had ready for them. A honey and peanut butter sandwich for himself, and some nice fruit for his Pokemon.
Sal, upon her release, yawned and gave a big stretch. She toddled over to him and flopped down. Novel placed an open plastic container of apple slices in front of her, which she eagerly picked up and started munching on. Max was more reluctant. For some reason the Eevee absolutely hated him, so it always led to bad encounters between them. Still, he diligently opened up the container of peaches and blueberries and sat it down, a little ways away so that Max would actually eat it. Even if Max hated him, he still didn't want his Pokemon to go hungry. Content, Novel was finally ready for that sandwich he had for himself. When he reached for it, it was gone.
"What?" Muttering, Novel dumped his bag out. It was wrapped up, so its not like hitting the ground would hurt hit. All he got was a few Pokeballs and various items he kept in there spilling out, but no food. Putting all that away, he wondered if he had not packed it? But... he was sure he had. He had made extra sure that he had everything. Where could it have possibly gone?
"Wurm! Wurmple!" It was muted, but Novel could faintly hear a pokemon nearby. Creeping, on hands and knees, to the other side of the tree, he spotted three little red worm pokemon. And.... oh, there was his sandwich. The plastic he has it in had been ripped open and tossed aside, and three little mouths were busy chewing away. Those were... Wurmple? They must have smelled the honey and gotten in his bag after it. He thought Bug pokemon liked Honey anyway. He could have been wrong. It was very frustrating, he was hungry, but he tried to level himself so he didn't just lash out at the things. They were hungry too, and wouldn't get bowl after bowl of his mother's soup later. He guessed he could give up one sandwich. Still, it was bad to steal, and Wild Pokemon or not, they needed scolding.
"You know," Standing, Novel made himself known and dusted off his hands and knees. He really hoped no one around had saw that. "Taking something that isn't yours is bad. I'll forgive you, but some people might not." The Wurmple started, all looking up at him. Their little faces were smeared with peanut butter. It was sort of cute. After a delayed moment, one of the little bugs cried out and hid behind the other two. Another stepped forward and looked ready to attack. Novel held up his hands. "Now, now. Calm down. I don't want to hurt you. Just tell you what you did was bad." It was possible they couldn't even understand him. Oh well, it seemed to be at least working. The one out front looked confused, but backed down when the middle one make a little clicking noise. At least he wasn't going to have to sick Gym Trained pokemon on a few baby bugs.
About that time, Sal poked her head around where Novel was at. The Wurmple tensed up again, but Sal didn't seem to notice. The dopey Slowbro walked over to them and sat down in their little circle. She smiled and yawned again, then started to chatter away. "Brooooo. Slowbroooo sloooooow." It seemed like Sal had a grasp on the situation, so Novel went and sat back down. He could still hear Sal speaking with the trio, and little chitters and clicks in return. He was glad she seemed to be making friends.
"Weeeeeell..." Sal said, to the three little worms gathered around her. "Novel scooooled you riiiight?" She made a soft noise for a laugh, the patted one of the Wurmple on the head. The little girl of the trio, the one that had stood up to the big human to protect her two friends. She shook her head some, but didn't seem to mind Sal's petting as much as she acted. At least with this strong Pokemon around, no birds would try to eat them. "He's not so baaaaaad. Prooooomise." Smiling down at them, Sal pulled the most timid one onto her lap, and then started to clean off its face. She might be slow and silly, but she was surprisingly maternal and could tell these three little ones needed some guidance. "But stealing is baaaaaad, deeeeears. Why did you taaaaaake his foooooood?"
The middle Wurmple, the calmed of the three, took a few tentative steps forward. He was the logical one, the one who kept everything together. "Its so hard to find food out here." He started. Looking around, he kept an eye out for any other Pokemon. It was dangerous for a small bug like him, even in a group of three. You couldnever let your guard down. "There are more Wurmple than every before, we've heard some Pokemon say. The trees are being stripped bare, and I haven't seen any fruits since the day I hatched. We didn't want to steal." Even if it had just been to stay alive, he was still a bit sheepish admitting it. The other two Wurmple looked just as embarrassed, but Sal had a hard time being angry at them knowing they were just filling empty tummies.
"I can remember being a Wiiiiiiild Pokemon... it was hard to caaaaaatch food. No one was reeeeeeally interested in a Sloooooowpoke, either. Not until Novel fooooooound me, and he loved me sooooooo much. I've neeeeeever went hungry for even a daaaaaay after that. Sometimes I thiiiiiink he even gave up his ooooooown food to keep me and the other's feeeeeed. He's sweet, deeeeeeeeep down." At least in recent years things like that hadn't happened. Just while Novel was a Trainer, roaming the land like some nomad. Now she just had to worry about if he ate his veggies or not instead of all that junk food he seemed to love so much. It was good they were visiting his parents today. She knew that Mama Lettlin would force him to finish everything on his plate.
"That sounds amazing..." The timid one spoke, quietly, from her lap. Sal gave it another soft pat. Yes... it really wasn't fair these kids would have to go without. They were still just babies, and growing babies needed to be big and strong. Plus, the way that they had talked had broken her heart. She could do something about this. She could make Novel their Trainer, and then they would get all the food they wanted! Standing up, she picked up one and placed on her head, then the other two in her arms.
"Come ooooooon, kids. Lets get you all the fooooooood you want! Mama Lettlin will stuuuuuuuff you three until you can't eat anooooooother bite. I just haaaaaaave to get Novel's baaaaaalls. He'll take caaaare of you. I prooooomise!" Taking a few steps forward, Sal started for the tree again. Novel kept his spare Pokeballs in his bag, and all she had to do was use them on these three, right. Nervous, she kept talking. "Mama Lettlin is the beeeest cook. She fixes me fuuuuuit and cakes and paaaasta. Sometimes she fiiiiiiixes veggie soup, which is Novel's faaaavorite. When she does, its a giiiiiiiant pot so big that all of us could get stuuuuuck in there!" As she spoke, Sal could see the three Wurmple look more and more excited about this. Maybe she had really coaxed them into this idea. Plus, if they were out, all they had to do was say so. She wouldn't force the dears to do anything.
To Novel's surprise, when she came back, Sal had her arms full of Wurmple. Seems like she had made more than just friends. She set them down and grabbed his bag, rummaging around in it. He was confused, then she took out one of his precious few Pokeballs and activated it, then taped one of them Wurmple with it. It was sucked inside without resistance. She had two more balls in her grasp. "Hey!" Starting, Novel sat up and tried to take them away from her, but he was too late. By the time he realized and reacted, she had activated the other two and dropped them. The worms crawled over and bopped themselves on the balls, getting sucked inside without a fight like the first two had.
Max let out a squeaking chirping noise behind him, one Novel recognized as laughter. He sighed, but picked up his three newly caught Pokemon anyway. "Alright, lunch time is over." Sal make a sad sound was she was called back into her Pokeball. Max kept laughing at him. Picking everything up, he quickly got up and started to walk away. Maybe next time he would just walk right through. That way nothing like this would ever happen again.
. . . ! Congratulations, THREE WURMPLE were caught! Henri Ryans Three pokéballs need to be removed from your inventory!
. . . ! Oh no, WURMPLE escaped! Novel Lettlin The post was nice and really cute in itself, but making most of the befriending off-screen doesn't give us enough proof to confirm your catch. Elaborating on what Sal and the Wurmples did during their time alone will help us a lot in grading your post. Feel free to edit or repost your attempt, and try again!

Walking through the forests again, a walk seemed like a great thing to have with spring making its rounds. So, together along with his partner, his Pikachu, Lightning, Josh would decide to take a brisk walk through the forests in the Wilds, hoping to see if there was any Pokemon they could catch. Of course, it wasn't long before opportunity came knocking on Josh's proverbial door. A Wurmple. Of course, he knew full well what a Wurmple was already, he owned two females. But this time, as it would decide to fire a String Shot his way, seeming to be defending it's territory, Josh was ready for it and would jump back. He'd so totally called it this time! "Why am I getting a sense of deja vu, times two here?" Josh would inquire toward Lightning, who's cheeks would spark. "Pika..." Lightning would trail off, preparing a Thunderbolt. "Heyyy, Thunderbolt is a bit too much for a Wurmple, doncha think, Lightning?" Josh would suggest to the Pikachu. "Let's give someone else a turn, shall we?" He asked as he would grab a Pokeball from his belt. "Piiiikaaa..." Lightning would whine, pouting a little. "Maybe next time, buddy" Josh said as he would toss the capsule into the air. "Go, Chester!" Josh would call as he would bring the Numel out of his Pokeball, who let out a yawn before getting into battle stance. It seemed Chester was ready!
"Alright Chester, not gonna hold you back this time! Use Flamethrower!" Josh would call as the Numel would fire a heavy stream of flames from its mouth toward the Wurmple, who would climb across the branch to dodge it, before leaping off and firing a Poison Sting toward Chester. "Dodge it!" Josh would call toward Chester, who would jump back as the Wurmple would land right in front of the Numel...
"Now! Double Edge!" Josh would quickly call as the Numel would use the close range to attack head on, ramming into the Wurmple. While it incurred damage to itself as well, that was nothing compared to what it had done to Wurmple. "Huh, that is one tough ass Wurmple" Josh would mutter as the Wurmple would tumble back but get up again! It was definitely hurting, but it wasn't going down so easily! It would suddenly fire a Sting Shot which looped around the Numel. "Gah!" Josh let out as he would try to think of a plan. If he didn't think quick, Chester wasn't going to be able to move! "Quick, use Flamethrower in a circle and burn the string shot off you!" Josh would call and Chester would oblige as he would fire the flames from his mouth around him, burning off the strings that were encasing him and forcing Wurmple to go into hiding. As the strings burnt off, Josh would chuckle. "Great job, Chester! I'm proud of you!" Josh would call toward the Numel. "Numel!" Chester would let out in celebration, but it wasn't time to cheer and celebrate yet... Wurmple would suddenly leap from his hiding place and fire Poison Sting at the Numel. "Flamethrower!" Josh would quickly call, with sharp instincts allowing him to act quickly. "Numel!" Chester let out as he would launch a Flamethrower toward the Poison Stings. The attack would engulf and melt the stingers, and would hit Wurmple as it kept on going. "Yawn!" Josh would quickly call, sensing the end to be near. The Numel would let out a yawn that would send bubbles toward the Wurmple, who would curl up, despite the burning, searing pain, and fall asleep. "Finish it off with Earthquake!" Josh would command. Total overkill, if you ask me. But the Numel would oblige, stomping the ground and causing a large fissure to build in the ground as Pokemon would flee the scene with the ground trembling and shaking, the fissure striking Wurmple and sending it high into the air, landing in front of Josh's feet, fainted. Josh would nod, and tap Wurmple with a Pokeball as he would pat Chester on the head.
