"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
Yumi walked through the badlands on another one of her weekly trips out while she was searching for pokemon in Kalos. Truth be told she wasn't entirely sure if she'd caught all the Kalos pokemon she even cared about yet, partially because she wasn't entirely sure if she had even seen all the pokemon Kalos had to offer. Luckily, the badlands were not such a mystery. As far as she knew, the book she had grabbed from the tower of mastery had listed all the mega stones known to the badlands, and since she had yet to see them all first hand yet, it was still worth it to go looking for some herself.
"Now, the caves have been a good place for us, you think you two can help me out there?"
On her shoulder was Jackie, her zubat. A pokemon typically considered a nuisance might actually come in handy since she was exploring their natural territory. The Zubat gave a happy cheer, along with the Treecko who stood by Yumi side, who would be invaluable against ground types found in the badlands.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
As they walked into the cavaes, Yumi pulled out the new torch she'd bought. With Tequill and Ko-ken typically training during her badlands trips these days, she couldn't rely on their fire type attacks to light her way, and so instead, she had to use this heavy duty torch to light her way. Truth be told she already hated the thing. It only lit where she pointed, and it didn't provide the same warm sensation that made the caves a whole lot more creepy, and at the same time, a lot more comfortable to be in.
"You wanna see if you can help us out Jackie?" Still sitting on the girl's shoulder, Jackie the zubat gave a quick nod, leaning forward as if to give her voice a better reach, screeching out into the cave. Though the frequency was far too high for Yumi to even fathom, the sound bounced around the inner caves, giving the small pokemon a brilliant mental view of what was ahead, holding out a wing and telling her trainer it was safe to continue forward. Feeling pretty confident, Yumi moved on, it was only when they entered a far larger tunnel that Jackie held out her other wing to stop them, letting out anothe screech, before flying off Yumi's shoulder, facing her and screeching in an audible range, trying to convey the danger she was sensing. Though Terry and Yumi couldn't see it, he sensed a disturbance in the earthy walls of the cave.
Before she could even question why her zubat was going mental, the pokemon in the walls sensed they had been found, sandshrew and sandslash emerging from the walls and ground, glaring towards the red head. She had made trips to this cave before, and utterly humilliated them. One sandslash stood forth, a few of his spikes visibly cracked, and one or two even broken off, his glare turning to Yumi, and seeming to grin as the red head hadn't brought the pokemon that had trashed him last time, but when Yumi gave a grin right back, filling the sandslash with some minor shock.
"You guys should be able to handle this easily, don't you think?~"
The zubat and treecko nodded without hesitation. Rushing forward, Terry began the assault. The main sandslash held out his claws, ready for the smaller pokemon, but just as he came within range, Terry used some startling agility to leap over the sandslash, charging an energy ball in his palm, and slamming it down onto the damaged back of the sandslash, landing in a roll upon his other side, and grinning at the remaining ground types.
Not about to leave their twitching, fainted friend unavenged, the sandshrew of the group rushed in, lead by another sandslash, screeching loudly in the hopes to intimidate the Treecko that only held a grin in their presence. Swooping in like a blue blur, Jackie took to the battle, a green energy surged from her mouth, taking one of the closest Sandslash in its grasp and draining it dry of its energy, surprising the other ground types as another of their key players had been taken out by these pokemon, and it was even more alarming when it wasnt the grass type. Nevertheless, both pokemon waisted not time in taking advantage of the fear burned into the ground types.
With Jackie flying back, landing beside Terry, she put her wings to her head, while Terry himself cupped his hands around his mouth. Waves pf psychic energy blasted out towards the sandshrew, and a calming tune came from the lips of the Treecko. A combination of grass whistle, and hypnosis, knocking out the scared sandshrew entirely, leaving them sleeping with the fainted sandslash, and leaving a certain treecko and Zubat extremely confident in themselves right now.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
Yumi smiled, proud of her little pokemon, kneeling beside them and looking out over the group of sleeping sandshrew and slash that now filled the cave ahead of them. "You guys make a good duo, much better than Target and Grim." She shuddered a little, physically against the idea of recalling how those two pokemon were constantly at eachother's throats, heck one of the reasons she paired them was so they'd start having a reason to get along. Nevertheless, she was in the here and now, and as she gave Terry a pat on the back, Jackie was already clinging to her bag, searching for a treat and bringing a giggle out from the red head.
Terry called out to his trainer as something caught his eye. They'd turned to go down another tunnel and found a hippopotas blocking their path. She quirked an eyebrow, curious as to why it was staring her down like that. Had they pissed off it's family too? Whatever the case, Yumi wasn't gonna let it stop her search for long. She gave the bat on her back a gentle nudge, and the zubat quickly flew off, getting to attention, and "staring" down the pokemon in their path. It was a rather bulky one, much like the sandshrew, but nothing they couldn't handle. Both Terry and her rushed towards their target, acrobatics in the sky, agility on the ground. The Hippopotas stood strong, but the bat and gecko were quick to strike. A wing strike from the acrobatics sent it into the air, and as it prepared a sand tomb to encase its attackers, the attack of the ground type was penetrated by a powerful energy ball, sending it into a nearby wall, rubble crashing around it,
Yumi just stood and watched, curious if these two had been getting secret lessons from jiraya, tequill, and Oscar when she wasn't looking.

"YES OUR TEETH AND AMBITIONS ARE BARED! BE PREPARED!"
With their latest blockage out of the way, Yumi continued into the cave, jackie perching once more on her shoulder, and shining her torch into the path ahead, occasionally stopping to allow her little zubat to check the path ahead. For a long while they went without disturbance, when something odd seemed to happen to Jackie. Terry was the first to notice, but soon, Yumi stopped too, lifting the small zubat to perch on her arm. She was screeching out, almost confused, as if she was making sure her senses were working right.
"What's up, what are you getting?" To the small bat pokemon, it was something impossibly smooth stuck in the wall of the cave. it reminded her of the times she'd "see" the clampearl of Yumi's team, only much smaller. The only way she could pin this out to Yumi, was by pointing to where the echoes of the shape were coming from, and for a moment, following the wing of Jackie, Yumi turned silent, grinning wide at the sight of something they could REALLY use. "A keystone!~"
Losing herself in excitement for a second, Yumi flung Jackie into the air, forcing the bat to flap fast to keep herself from hitting the floor. Yumi fell to her knees, which she would later come to regret when she realized how much it stung, and looked at the small pink, swirling gem in the wall of the cave. It was locked in pretty tight by the surrounding earth, but it was there, a fully formed keystone! "Guys! Keep anything that comes by off me while I dig this out." She searched frantically in her bag, pulling out a small lightweight kit of digging tools to help her out.
Wondering what on earth Yumi was doing, not used to these trips to the badlands themselves, Terry and Jackie shared a glance, shrugged, and turned to the paths of the cave around them. They'd probably scared most challengers off by taking out that sandslash, nevertheless, a pokemon eventually reared its head, a small diglett popping out of the ground nearby, blinking in the direction of the two pokemon who seemed to be guarding the red head. Unlike the previous threats, he was clearly not looking for a fight out of a grudge, but with a cheerful cry, he seemed to want to practice against these two strong pokemon. Jackie and Terry shared another glance, and gave a "Might as well" shrug, since there trainer was busy working away at that wall, it was a way to pass the time.
Rearing her head back, ready to fire her giga drain, Jackie was surprised when the diglett sudden slammed into her, using his head liek a fist as he uppercut her jaw, bringing out a rather painful cry from the bat pokemon, and even surpising Terri as his friends attack was interupted. He waisted no time in preparing revenge, but as he charged his energy ball, the same thing happened, and he was suckerpunched by the surprisingly fast diglett , groaning as he backed away and rubbed his jaw from the attack, an energy ball still prepared in his palm, finding it odd how a pokemon that was battling for fun was such a bigger threat than the pokemon that had came before. He flung his energy ball and the diglett dug beneath the earth, vanishing from view .
Not missing a beak, Jackie screeched out, using her supersonic powers of sense to try and locate the hidden ground type. She was quick to tell Terry the pokemon was behind him, and rather than prepare another energy ball, Terry jumped up to avoid the attack, cupping his lips, and sounding out his sleep inducing grass whistle, grining as the pokemon below him was seeming to grow drowzy under its effect. Taking her chance to attack, Jackie fired her giga drain, and sucked the pokemon they faced dry.
Yumi meanwhile had finally unnearthed her keystone, crocuhing beside her pokemon and grinning wide. "Lookie!~ This baby will be funding out next tournament!~"
