She had been avoiding the place long enough, but at this point, Izumi knew that a visit to Mount Pyre was inevitable. She’d been putting it off for so long; it was only now, that she was back in her home region again, that she decided to pay the area a visit. There were two reasons why she was here: the first one was because she had Josh were going to meet up here and have their first-ever “practice session”; while the other reason was… a bit more personal. She knew that at least Momo could Teleport them as far as anywhere as long as it was within the same region; but thankfully there was a small ferry service now that ran from the exit of the Safari Zone headed towards Mount Pyre. She’d heard stories from back then, about the only way that one could visit the place was to Surf through the treacherous waters surrounding the area. Now that modernization had caught up with Hoenn, there were innovations being developed throughout even the most far-flung areas. She then boarded the boat, with this distant look on her face.
After the boat had docked, she then made her way inside the natural “cemetery”, which was actually the interior of the mountain; and there were tombstones as far as her eye could spot. She was looking for a particular one, though… and there was a single ‘mon that was out, walking alongside her as she then climbed the spiraling steps, looking for the spot that she was going to pay her respects to. “Voir? Gardevoir?” Momo warbled from beside her, and she then looked at the Embrace ‘mon with this look so long, her features threatening to fall off if she kept up the premise of being tough. “I… I haven’t been here in a while. It… it’s time to face the music,” she said shortly, finally reaching the top and then going out into one of the higher exits of the place—the whole town had apparently chosen a spot for the resting place of the “prodigal son”, and who was she to argue? “He… he’d have liked it out here in the sun… not inside, all cramped and stuffy,” she said quietly, finally arriving in front of the single marker that was plainly decorated. “Looks like nobody’s been here…” she muttered, trailing into silence, as she then reached into her pocket and pulled out a lighter, along with a single red candle.
“Heh. Hi, Bun. Never thought I’d be going here again, after being gone from Hoenn for so long,” she began, crouching down and lighting the candle, before letting some of the wax drip so that she could slot it into the holder in front of the marker. “Well… I’m back. Ara’s grown up. Hell, mama Kaji’s been busy… she’s got more kids to deal with now,” she added with a chuckle, standing up again and then bowing her head down. At this gesture, the Gardevoir did the same, touching the simple marker at that moment—and then flashing some images into Izumi’s mind at the same time she was praying.

Josh had been living in the caves a few days now on these mountains. Training. Letting himself embrace the instincts that helped him survive back in Kotaku. Honing them, helping them... Becoming strong just like his Pokemon were. Josh had given the location of his little camp out site to Izumi when she had asked where she was. When she would inevitably find him, he would be sitting at the cave entrance he had made by accident, and just inside was the camp that had been made for him and his Pokemon. His eyes were closed, he was taking in the hot mountain air...
The blonde had decided to embrace the nature of where he would be living, on and off, for quite some time. It would do him some good in future camping trips to adjust to this sort of thing. The climate was hot. Very hot. But hot was something he knew very well. To some, they would call this unreasonably hot, and impossible to live in. To Josh, this was home. His old home was tropical, he had remembered the palm trees... The beating sun, the beaches, the drought-worthy weather... This was normal to him.
Nearby sat his Pikachu, Lightning, trying to mimic his Trainer. Napping near the sleeping bags were his Pokemon, but you wouldn't know who they were until you came closer...

Izumi knew that there were images flashing in her mind; and instantly knew that Momo was the one responsible for it; instead of the moments leading up to his eventual murder, they were more on images of… the times before, and during their journey together. Out of all of the ‘mons under her care, the Gardevoir had been with her the longest, and had seen the most while traveling together with her. After a few moments, the Gardevoir then gently released her hold from Izumi’s arm, and the images stopped flickering in her mind’s eye, causing her to look up. “Hey, Momo… thanks for the walk down memory lane,” she said with a small smile, petting the Embrace ‘mon, and then turning towards the marker again. “Heh, I might be gone for a long while again… but once I return to Hoenn, I’ll make sure to come by once again… I have to get stronger. Not just for your sake, but for mine as well,” she said quietly, giving said marker an affectionate pat, before nodding and then turning around, leaving the marker in peace.
Right at that moment her phone had decided to go off and she then fished it out, swiping across several screens before scrolling down to see the message. “Oh. OH. So he’s already here, huh…” she trailed off with this wicked grin on her face, and she then continued her way up the path—because even if most of Mount Pyre was a natural cemetery, the upper levels were left to grow wild and there were some interesting Ghost-types infesting the area too. After exiting the gate that separated the cemetery from the wild, she then looked around in the area, which was starting to fog up. Unsure if he could see her in all the suddenly-accumulating mist, she then cupped a hand close to her mouth and decided to take a risk, shouting, “Hey, Sass Master… are you here?” before waiting a few seconds, to see if there would be someone who was going to reply. In the back of her mind, she sniggered, before bringing herself back to the present moment and then looking around for signs of a “cave” once again. “Hey, Josh, there’s a fog rolling in. Holler if you can hear me,” she trailed off.

Josh's "meditating" was interrupted by the sound of Izumi's voice. She was late, that was for sure. But she was here, that meant the relaxing take in of nature was good and done. Oh well. It'd be nice to see another human being again after being in isolation all week. His eyes slowly opened as he looked out at the fog that had rolled in. Well, that explains why she was yelling.
"Is that Izumi I hear?" he called out, cupping his hands to his mouth. "No? Well, I sure smell it! Need to lay off the spicy food once again, Smelly Izumi!" he called out cheekily, smirking a bit. She wanted to call him Sass Master? He'd show her the Sass Master, alright. "Cmon out, Stink Master! I'm over here!" he called, amusedly. This was beginning to become a regular inside joke for the twosome, it seemed. Poor Izumi would be stuck with Smelly Izumi and Stink Master for life.

Her ears perked up at the sound of his voice; it seemed to be coming off from not too far ahead, so she then directed her footsteps in the direction of where his voice was coming from. “Nice time to pick to camp out here, you do know that around this time of year, Mount Pyre is blanketed in fog?” she said in the direction where she was headed, hoping that he’d heard her quip! A few moments later, though, she felt her ears burn red at his next statement; and boy did that cause her to pick up speed and finally emerge from the fog like some ghostly being, “I have not been eating anything too spicy ever since our getaway, you crazy individual, and I have been busy too, you know,” she said, the voice echoing all around, but narrowing down to a single source as she came out of the fog… and then saw that she was facing a hermit.
A blond, scruffy, scraggly hermit!
“Heh,” she began with a grin, reaching into her backpack and digging through it. A few moments later, a small can of shaving cream, as well as a razor, made its appearance, and she then chucked the items in his direction. “Geez, your face looks like it can scare off even the ghosts on Mount Pyre. Go get your scruffy mug cleaned up a bit,” she added with a chuckle, finally settling down at the little “camp site” and then bringing out some extra supplies as well. The Gardevoir had chosen to stand on “guard duty”, at least for the meantime, and now stood at the edge of the campsite, looking out into the roiling fog. “So how long have you been here, and who do you have with you?” she asked, finally extracting a squashed sandwich from somewhere within the deep reaches of her backpack and ripping the foil open, taking a bite out of it.

He chuckled a bit as he caught the razor and shaving cream. "Very funny" he said, sticking his tongue out at her. "Just because I like you, I'll go do that when I can" he said with a laugh. "Not a full shave, mind you, but I'll trim. Only a trim" he teased with a faint smirk. "Yeah, I know it's foggy this time of year. I don't need my eyes, Zuzu. My Pokemon don't either" he explained. "We have our senses. Our instincts. That's how we survived before. It's how we'll survive here. If we lose our sight, why should we be hopeless, right?" he added. "Both Trainer and Pokemon should be masters of their senses, sight and hearing. They need to be able to rely on one if the other stops working. It's all part of the training" he explained.
At her question, he smirked a bit. "I've been out here... A week and a half maybe? I only go to town for supplies when it's needed, and to switch my Pokemon that need a break out with ones that could use the training, every few days. But as for who I have with me now...." he trailed off. "Look behind you" he said pointing behind her with a smirk.
Behind her was a Pokemon that had gotten up and decided to stand behind Izumi when she wasn't looking. Looking back, Izumi would find herself facing a massively sized Typhlosion, who indeed, was just as big, if not bigger, then his big brother.
"Izumi, meet Inferno" Josh said with a smirk. "GRAAAA!" Inferno grunted in greeting.

Izumi was relieved that he had taken the ribbing in stride, even accepting the little “gifts from civilization” that she’d tossed his way; and then chuckled at the quip about the trim! “I know trims are more your thing, you don’t want to look like a certain individual now, do you?” she trailed off, before sinking her teeth into the sandwich she’d brought along. She knew it was a bacon and egg sandwich, but from the way it had gotten squashed, you couldn’t tell the difference at all. She nodded sagely at his words about the entire training shenanigans, but imagine the shock of her life as she heard something grunting in her direction—and very nearly dropped the sandwich she was holding! “Wh—whoa. Holy… he’s as big as Ara… if not, even bigger than him!” she exclaimed out of surprise, reaching towards Inferno with her free hand and giving him a pet on the head.
“I was going to ask what you’ve been up to but needless to say, the training did pay off… nicely done,” she said with a smirk as she continued to give inferno a chin scratch. “Hint, hint. Ara likes getting his chin scratched. Looks like Inferno here likes the same thing, too,” she added with a chuckle, before taking a bite out of her sandwich once more. “Unless, of course, he likes being massaged elsewhere,” she added with a shrug, before giving the remains of the sandwich to inferno. She could only guess as to what he had been eating, but from the looks of it, the Typhlosion in front of her had gained some serious muscle and body mass! “Oh, also, you remember that funny-colored Torchic I told you about?” she began sometime later, checking the rest of her team and then giving a sheepish grin.

He chuckled a bit as Inferno closed his eyes and grunted affectionately toward Izumi, nuzzling his former Trainer's head as she patted him. "Actually, Inferno evolved before I came out here" he explained. "We went home for a bit before I came here. Decided to get some rest before we went into the abyss like this" he said, chuckling. "Inferno and I ended up walking quite some ways out of town that night for some fresh air. Just wanted to relax and enjoy ourselves before we left, yknow? I ended up angering an Oddish by accident and Inferno warded it off. But the battle ended up on the turf of a gang led by a wild Dodrio. Inferno and I fended off the 9 Dodrio and Doduo, but the leader was a dirty sort and it was super powerful. It beat Inferno to a pulp, and kept him against a tree as he kept using Fury Attack in order to pulverize and brutalize Inferno. It wasn't going to stop, it wanted him dead" he explained, biting his lip. "When I saw what was happening, I tried to interfere, but ended up taking my lumps and injured myself in the process" he said, lifting his shirt to show hundreds of scratches and bruises and welts from the Dodrio's attacks, before lifting his pantleg to show that his leg was heavily taped up. "Inferno was incredibly close to death, and I called out to him. He ended up evolving when he saw me, got a second wind and we managed to get out of that scrap alive" he said. "And he's so powerful now, and he's so big. But I love him no matter what he looks like" he said with a laugh as he patted Inferno's head. Inferno would grunt affectionately before happily nomming on the food Izumi gave him.
"Pika Pika!" Lightning greeted Izumi from beside Josh as he waved at her. "Aye, Lightning's with me too. Can't leave him behind" he said with a smirk.

“The abyss,” she began; her eyebrow shooting up before grinning in his direction. “You know what; it made me think of what I want to do next…” she trailed off, before catching sight of a huge mass of injuries all over Josh’s body; that and his leg was also bandaged. “You’re crazy; you know that… diving right into the line of fire. But… you know, it’s always like that we can never bear to see the ones we love so much getting hurt, so of course we’d go and do whatever it takes to get them out of harm’s way…” she chimed in, quickly shifting her attention from Inferno’s chin to his belly, making him flop over with a few deft movements and then giving him a very nice, refreshing belly rub. “Heheh, Ara never did like being tickled on the belly. Guess you do like it…” she continued, giving the Typhlosion a rub again. At the sight of Lightning, she smirked his way; of course he would never go anywhere without her.
“Well, as for my partner… she’s over there, out at the edge of the camp site, standing guard. That’s the Gardevoir over there. She used to be a complete scaredy-cat when she was a Ralts, but evolving toughened her up. Somewhere along the way, though, she became… shiny. I don’t know how, it… it just happened,” she continued, still scratching inferno’s stomach, and hearing a low purr in response. Now that they were all the way up here… she decided to let him meet her Torchic, who was unique all the same. “Come on out, Zi,” she muttered, plucking a Dusk Ball from her jacket and then letting its occupant out in a flash of red light. “There she is,” she continued, popping the Dusk Ball down to its smaller, compact size, and the flash of red light materialized a… Torchic, alright, but the coloration was noticeably much different—if Josh had his Combusken on him, he would immediately notice the striking “color scheme” that Zira was blessed with. “She ended up having the colors of a storm cloud… apparently it was caused by her father,” she trailed off with this mysterious look on her face.
Since Inferno was present, she was debating on whether or not she would let Josh know that Inferno had a half-sister… and that half-sister was now scratching the ground in front of her. “Toooor?” she heard the Chick ‘mon inquire, looking around at the spooky surroundings, before looking right at the massive Typhlosion and just… outright gaping at Inferno. “There’s also something you have to know…” she trailed off., deciding that it would be a safe time to tell him about Zira’s rather unusual ‘heritage’.

He smirked a bit. "Sweetcheeks, if I hadn't tried to protect him with my life I'd be a disgrace as a Trainer" he said bluntly. "No Trainer should leave their Pokemon to die, no matter who you are. No matter what the Pokemon. No matter what you're facing. You're a TEAM. They need you like you need them. And if you leave them when they need you most, you're no Trainer" he said plainly, sighing heavily.
Inferno, who had been so big and scary and intimidating before though, did one thing when she scratched his belly; rolled onto his back so she could rub his tummy more. Josh started laughing. He could see the goofy, open mouth, tongue out look on Inferno's face as he laid on his back and enjoyed the tummy rub. He was big and strong now but he was still his baby.
He looked over at her Gardevoir. "Hm, very interesting. Vulcan is oddly colored and shiny like that too" he commented. "It's just not as noticeable, with incredibly small changes to his color scheme"
"Hmm... Fascinating" he said calmly as he examined this oddly colored Torchic. Not like anything he had seen before, for sure. But Izumi wanted something for some reason. "What's up?" He asked curiously.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Sept 1, 2014 4:10:01 GMT -5
She nodded sagely with what he was saying—she’d seen this sort of thing happen several times before, and it wasn’t pretty.“I will agree wholeheartedly with what you just said… Momo over there, the Gardevoir? She saved me a lot of times from crazy, rampaging Ghost-types on several occasions. I’ve seen it happen while I was travelling around… people who’d just given up and are abandoning their Pokémon to the wild… if not abandoning to the wild, turning them loose and letting them die, even if they beg and plead to be taken back in because they’ve gotten so attached to their Trainers… it makes me sick,” she ended with a bit of a bitter taste in her mouth, while still giving Inferno that belly rub—at the sound of his laughter, she looked down and saw that Inferno looked just like the pictures of canines she’d seen in magazines and other reading material; tongue hanging out, wiggling off to one side due to the apparent pleasure from the rubbing!
“Heh, never knew he liked it so much…” she said, continuing to scratch it, and hearing the purr get louder in response. “Well… as for Zira over here… uhh, Zi? Care to demonstrate your fire, please?” she said in the Chick ‘mon’s direction, and the Torchic, who was busy scuttling around and trying to dig through the dirt, abruptly looked up and then blasted a quick shot of flame; if Josh was fast enough to notice, the flames weren’t the usual red-orange-yellow color scheme, rather, it was an unusual shade of indigo that complemented the coloration of her plumage. “So here’s the thing. Do you believe in curses and all that?” she asked once her Torchic was done with the demonstration, and gotten back to scratching through the dirt once again.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Sept 2, 2014 3:19:31 GMT -5
He nodded in agreement. "I refuse to abandon or release any of my Pokemon. If they have flaws, I work on them. If they're a handful, I work with them. If they are weak, I train them to be strong. If they are cruel, I show kindness until they are kind. If they are disobedient, I work with them until they are obedient. There is no reason to give up on and abandon a Pokemon, and if somehow they become a lost cause, I will always allow them to stay here and be happy for the rest of their lives"
Josh laughed a bit at Inferno's shenaigans. "Inferno is a tough bastard. But that is one of the silliest looking faces I've ever seen from a Typhlosion!" He cracked with a grin as Inferno reacted to the scratching.
"Hmm... Interesting" he mused as he watched the Torchic fire it's flame. Then Zuzu asked her question. Josh raised an eyebrow in response. "Curses? What the fuck did you do to your Torchic?" He asked, blinking.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Sept 2, 2014 6:46:35 GMT -5
“They may be big, hulking Typhlosion, but in the end, all of them are babies, if you know how tickle or please ‘em,” she added with a grin, laughing as well upon seeing Inferno’s extremely silly-looking expression on its face! Who knew that the Volcano ‘mon loved having his belly being scratched and rubbed? “Here, you try,” she said, standing up and scuttling off to one side—while Inferno remained flopped over, one of his legs hanging in mid-air, waiting for Josh to actually go and give him a good rubbing. She internally cringed at his initial reaction, but already had the explanation on-hand at his response, “She ended up that way because of her father. Not because I did anything. I had no idea that the ‘thing’ that her dad had picked up would eventually pass down to his offspring…” she said, before settling down in order to be able to give the entire explanation.
“You see, Zira’s dad… well, according to what I’ve been told by her father’s Trainer anyway, was afflicted with this weird ‘curse’ that permanently changed its colors from the standard orange-and-yellow into something… something a lot more strange. It affected the flames of their Blaziken, too… and apparently he has two kids running around who inherited his unusual plumage. One of them is Zi over there; she ended up looking like a storm cloud. The other one belongs to someone I used to work with, but I don’t know what color her Torchic ended up like. It’s not bad, I’ve been reassured that. Only thing is, she’s got those colors for life, so yeah. That also explains the flame changing color…” she said in one go, hoping that Josh understood, or at least tried to keep up with, the brief explanation that she’d offered!
After letting a few moments of silence pass, she then decided to come out with it, since she couldn’t keep it in any longer. “…and, guess what. Zi over here… her older half-brothers just happen to be Inferno, and Arashi,” she added, and at this the unusually-colored Chick ‘mon then approached the big, hulking Volcano ‘mon and then began sniffing at him curiously.

He smirked a tad and took Izumi's idea, scratching Inferno's tummy. The Typhlosion kicked his leg repeatedly and wiggled and wobbled happily with the goofiest, open mouth, tongue out look Josh had ever seen, loving the tummy rubs. Josh started laughing as he did so, amazed that such a fierce and powerful Pokemon could be just like a playful puppy when he felt like it. He kept belly rubbing his Typhlosion as Izumi went on about the Torchic and it's father.
Then she spoke of the fact that Inferno was her half brother and he raised an eyebrow. "That's... Interesting" he said, tilting his head. "Graaaooooo?" Inferno let out questionably before sitting up, looking over at the midget fire chicken with it's weird steel-ish colors. He blinked as the self cooked chicken started sniffing him, with a look like "What the blue Arceus is going on here? Am I really related to the chicken?"
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Sept 2, 2014 23:48:46 GMT -5
She couldn’t help but grin at the little scene—Inferno just happened to flop over and continue liking the belly rubs even more as Josh went over and had a try at it; hell, if the Typhlosion line had actual tails to wag, then it would be going back and forth like a windshield wiper due to enjoying it so much! “Heh, now you know what to do if you want to make him feel good… or cheer him up,” she added, before watching the general confusion take place—right then and there, Inferno’s look on its face became one of extremely puzzled as he sat up and flopped forward, the better to get a look at Zira, who was now, quite literally, staring at the big, hulking Typhlosion. “Toooor?” she chirped, before sniffing at Inferno, and then circling around him.
“Toooor. Torchic, tor.” She chirped a few moments later, hesitantly going forward and attempting to nuzzle the big guy. Noticing this quite unusual interaction, Izumi then continued, “The reason how that happened… her mumsie… is also mama Kaji. I’onno how Breeders do their thing, it must have something to do with egg groups or something like that. Otherwise, yeah…” she trailed off, watching as the Torchic looked at her with this confused look on her face, before she waved her hand in the youg Chick’s direction, letting her go forward and do her thing. “Also, I noticed, whenever she gets into a fight… she’s one who doesn’t want to back down. Not until the last possible second,” she added, remembering the unusual circumstances that had happened when she’d taken a short side trip to Johto in order to look for that Steel-Flying ‘mon that had eluded her for so long.
