He had just settled down to fixing the internal workings of the clock that he was going to present to the gathering in Castelia when he saw something pink suddenly dart in and then tried to call his attention—evidently the Chansey was distressed and had to get him in order to explain what had happened! “Wha—eh?” he began with a look of confusion on his face, as the Chansey, which he knew was a pacifist by nature, was flailing around quite agitatedly and looked all flustered. “Wha’s goin’ on…” he trailed off, tossing the screwdriver onto the table and then following the pink Egg ‘mon outside—and then saw that the two Psychic-types were not talking to each other; in fact they were not facing each other; and generally he knew that if two individuals were not looking at each other eye-to-eye something bad had happened. “Oh, crud,” he groaned, quickly heading back inside and grabbing the phone from the counter where he’d left it.
After sending a distressed message to his boss, he then waited for the reply—and got one just two minutes later, explaining what to do if in case something like this happened. “Wha… he says it’s normal fer them not to succeed the firs’ time?! Why didn’ he say so before he left?!” he muttered with this crestfallen look, before quickly looking for the stock room key and then heading over to where his boss had said to get the yellow mushrooms, and to get just one. After a few minutes of searching (and very nearly getting buried underneath a pile of boxes) he had managed to get one of the mushrooms out—and then sent his boss a text message, saying that they were running low on the “precious” commodities; and then went back outside to where the Elgyem and Kadabra were not seeing eye-to-eye! “A’ight, you two, wha’ happened? Someone shorted each otha’ out?” he asked in his drawl, scratching his head before the Elgyem turned to face him and then… just stared at him.
Creepy… he thought as he then left the mushroom in between the two… and then made a hasty retreat as the odor of the funky-looking thing got things going once again!

The assistant was surprised to see that the rescue attempt had produced not just one, not two, but three eggs! He then sighed in relief; before suddenly remembering that they were running dangerously low on the magical mushrooms that he’d resorted to in order to make this attempt succeed. Now he had another problem: what was he going to do now? He then decided to pin up his purple mop of hair, the better to keep the pesky bangs away from his face. He was busy trying to wire the crazy utility “clock” he was working on when he heard the computer go off; and he could only scratch his head in wonder—what did they want now? He then left the wiring on the table as he went over to the computer and checked; there was one new message from the Pokémon League; and they wanted to reserve two of the eggs that had come from the breeding that he’d managed to pull off. “Well, tha’s fast,” he said, scratching his head in wonder as he then reached for the mobile and sent a message to the boss; who then promptly replied a few minutes later, stating that the eggs were alright to be reserved to the League, and he then composed the quick reply before sending it off.
Now that he’d gotten this done, what was he going to do? He then sighed as he then went back to the clock that he was assembling and then got another message on the mobile, before hearing the Transporter go off and then a plopping noise; for there was a Pokeball that had appeared, and he didn’t know what it was. “Heh, guess I hafta deal with ya first before I can go back t’ my work in peace,” he added, shuffling as he picked up the Pokeball and took a look inside it—for he’d never seen something like this! He was a complete native of Unova, unlike his boss who had come from another region—and needless to say, his knowledge was mostly based on the Unovan denizens that made his region their home as well. After a few text messages on describing who the Pokémon he’d just received was (and who to partner it with) he then went out back to the… zoo… that was now positively brimming with Pokémon, both rare and extremely common. “Ehh, I don’ even know half ‘a these…” he muttered, looking around for a wooly sheep with a blue orb stuck onto its tail; apparently it was called a Mareep.
After stumbling around the area, he finally managed to locate the fluffy sheep-like Pokémon… and then felt the stray strands of hair starting to stand up! “A’ight, here goes…” he muttered, quickly sending out the Numel and then having it face the little Mareep. “Urrr. Voima, a’ight? This here’s Moira, yer partner fo’ today. Try not to break her…” he added with a chuckle, as the two then regarded each other curiously…

It was a new week, and there was another order from the boss—he’d seen that there was another arranged breeding that needed to be done for today; and hopefully it would produce more eggs than usual. The reason for this was simple: there were some individuals who were looking for certain Pokémon; and one of those was a newly-established Gym Leader. “A’ight, now I see why he likes helpin’ em… curry more favor with the higher-ups… I can see why now,” he muttered, watching as the Transporter went off; he had already returned the female Numel to the owner—apparently it was someone his boss was on good terms with—and watched as another Pokeball droped in; and this one contained something he definitely knew! “Ahhh, Vanilla ice cream!” he chuckled, retrieving the Vanillite’s Pokeball from the Transporter and then looking inside to see a literally floating ice cream cone smiling up at him.
“At leas’ you I’m familiar wi’,” he added with a grin as he then walked out, and then looked for the so-called “winter wonderland” on the Ranch grounds. After scouring the area, he eventually found it—a particular section of the grounds had been literally transformed into something that looked like it belonged in Icirrus; which was on the opposite side of the region; and he then sent out the Vanillite, happy to see that it was close to something that reminded it of home! “Kay, gimme a few,” he drawled, whistling as he began trudging around in the suddenly-winter section of the Ranch, looking around the area until he found the quivering Snorunt—hell it was the only Snorunt in the entire place—and then picked him up before finding that the Vanillite had followed him, mostly out of curiosity. “Be nice ta ‘er, okay?” he continued, leaving the two to have some fun as he then crossed his fingers and hoped for the best…

Izumi was surprised to receive a text message from her sponsor once again—and the unassuming look on her face became one of extreme glee; because he had somehow managed to acquire a Vanillite; also known as the “terror in an ice cream cone” Pokémon from Unova! Alright, time to go get my frosty purchase… she thought with a smirk on her face as she tucked an Incubator under her arms; and then went on her way to visit the Ranch where all of her ‘mons now ran free and crazy. After walking through the path that led to his headquarters, she noticed that there were some trucks parked outside—what was going on inside? Surely it’s not a madhouse… unlike the other Ranch I frequent for other requests from time to time…? She thought with an apprehensive look on her face as she braced herself for the chaos that would inevitably come across her path as she opened the door—and stepped inside. To her surprise, it was just a delivery ma making their usual runs of supplies for the Ranch—she saw that one of the burly men hauling in something that looked like hay bales…
She then walked right over to the counter and nestled down the empty Incubator and then tapped on the newly-installed “counter bell”; which then rang out, catching the purple-haired, lanky assistant’s attention. “Oh, hi. He’s not here again? Uhhh… I’m here for one of the Vanillite eggs,” she said, taking her place on the couch as the flustered assistant saw just who had decided to pay them a visit today! He then quickly snatched up the empty incubator and then shuffled to the back, leaving her to watch the burly workers hauling in more supplies—she could only guess if it was food or hay; or something of the sort. A few minutes later, she then looked up and saw that he was standing right in front of her, holding out the occupied Incubator with one frosty, frozen-looking egg. “Here ya go, take care a’it,” she heard him speak in that funny little drawl as she then took the Incubator and then gave him a two-fingered salute. “Tell your boss there’ll be more requests coming in the next few weeks, so get ready,” she said as she left the premises.

Thankfully the breeding request had gone off without a hitch, and one of the eggs had been claimed by the boss’… well, “boss”. He… didn’t know how to explain it, but yeah, the young lady (who didn’t look like she was out of her teenage years yet) had come by just earlier, and now the phone he was manning went off again. “Wha’ is i’ now…” he began, abandoning the wiring he was working on for that clock. The showcase in Castelia was coming up in two weeks, and he didn’t have much time to cobble the darned thing together—due to his part-time job over here at the Ranch. He didn’t mind the extra source of “income” though, and then sighed as he picked up the mobile phone and then scrolled through the message he’d received. He then stopped for a moment, looking instinctively over at the Transporter—before realizing that his boss’ benefactor’s Pokémon were already running wild out back!
“Creature a’ habit…” he said to himself with a grin before leaving the workspace and the mobile phone on the counter and then heading out back, in order to look for this six-tailed, absolutely cute-looking little thing as well as its partner—a round, almost flat brown porcine-like creature that had fur instead of hair covering its body. “Heh, Vulpix an’ Swinub… ain’ heard nothin’ a’ ‘em, bu’ they hafta be around here somewhere…” he muttered, texting his boss all the while he was looking. It didn’t take too long before he found the Vulpix, who was lounging in a patch of sun, before he gently crouched down and picked her up; before heading back to the outskirts of the “winter wonderland”; and then dropping the already-awake female Vulpix just outside. “Wai’ here,” she heard the purple-haired man say in her direction, so she just curled up and watched as he trudged through the snow-covered area, before finally finding the Swinub hiding in a self-made makeshift “igloo” of sorts.
“A’ight, here ya’ go… someone’s on the lookout fer Swinub… so… please excuse me,” he said with a sheepish grin on his face as he then left the two alone in order to be able to do their magic.

"Thanks again Izumi, Kouji!" Josh called as he walked out of the ranch with two eggs in tow. He held one in his own hands, while Lightning sat on his shoulder holding another one, both in those protective carrying cases designed for encasing and protecting the eggs. The Pokeballs for the Pokemon inside were there as well, on the tippy top.
Josh looked at the eggs carefully, trying to discern what Pokemon they might be by the designs on the eggs.
"Huh... This one looks kind of like a Swinub, don't you think Lightning?" he asked, referring to the one in his hands. "Pika Pika?" Lightning chirped, holding up the one he was holding. "Hmm...." Josh mused. "That looks to have a darker red-ish tint... What could that be? Maybe a Slugma?" he asked. "Pika-chhooooo" Lightning responded, shaking his head. The scent told him otherwise. "Hmm... Maybe it's a Vulpix?" he suggested, shrugging. "Pika!" Lightning chirped. He seemed to think so too!
[Whoopsie, thanks for the reminder Izumi. Claiming a Vulpix and Swinub Egg each]

This time, Kouji was back home in Unova—simply because he’d already exhausted all of his Badlands digs for the month of September. He knew that his assistant had put in some hard work (and had some unsuccessful breeding attempts too) and decided to give him the rest of the month off; he knew he’d have to call him in while he was away in Kalos! “At least he didn’t burn the place down,” he added with a nervous chuckle, seeing that they needed to buy more of the “magic mushrooms” since they’d run drastically low at this point. “Oh, right, there’s something I have to get to…” he muttered, walking over to the Transporter and then punching in a code; before watching a Pokeball drop into it some moments later. “Crap, I hate it when I have to chain, but sometimes I got no other choice but to do so…” he trailed off again, snatching up the Pokeball that had a Seel inside it, which he was going to borrow for this attempt.
He could guess as to why his benefactor wanted a Seel; and he scratched his head as he wondered—why did it have to be one with a certain Egg Move available to its kind? He then proceeded to walk out to the back of the Ranch, the Chansey right behind him. He then realized that the place was much more crowded than usual; simply because his benefactor had decided to reroute her PC settings so that anything and everything she caught from that point would go straight to his place.“Guess I need to extend the Ranch grounds again… as if Humilau’s shores weren’t big enough, now I need a bigger stretch of land,” he said with a cheeky, sheepish grin as he began walking along the extended shoreline, looking for that feisty little female Horsea that was now in his possession. After passing the sunbathing Poliwag, as well as the Tentacool, the Clauncher and a few other Water-types that weren’t his (he could pick out an Oshawott and a Squirtle among them, for heaven’s sake) he then finally found the Horsea he was looking for; the one nicknamed Kaira—otherwise known as Ira.
“Hey, Ira… you still in a bad mood?” he asked cautiously as he approached the temperamental Horsea; and was met with a softer look instead of the normal glare she would toss his way whenever he came out to feed everyone himself. “Ah, that’s great. I brought you a new playmate…” he trailed off, quickly sending out the Seel that was lent to him for this venture. As the cute, white little mammalian Pokemon made its appearance before clapping its fins (why was he behaving like a Spheal anyways) he chuckled, before leaving the two alone with these words, “Try not to overdo it too much, okay?”

He was kind of surprised to find out that he’d only gotten one egg from the breeding attempt—but it was just exactly what he needed! “Heh, perfect. I only need one, and she has to be a female…” Kouji trailed off, this smirk appearing on his face for a few moments before walking over to the Transporter again and entering another code; before watching another Pokeball drop into the receiving end. “Oh, right. I have to return the Seel…” he muttered, trailing off as he reached for another Pokeball on the counter; and placing it in the opposite end of the Transporter.
He then retrieved the Pokeball containing the Numel and held it with his other hand as he punched in coordinates—before watching the containment unit containing the borrowed Seel vanish; and then he placed another one where the Seel’s Pokeball was ever so recently—he then sent off the Vanillite back to Yumi; before walking out back!
He knew that the Numel was in the Field egg group; so after searching through the “zoo” of Pokemon, he finally found the partner he was looking for—the female Houndour. “Eh, two Fire-types. Hope this place doesn’t burn down…” he said before scratching his head and sending out the Numel that he’d bred for one William Rosenbach. As the Dark/Fire canine sniffed curiously at the walking volcano, he then added, “Be nice, okay? Now go, have some fun out there…” before leaving the two to do their thing—and secretly hoping that the Ranch didn’t burn down overnight because of what he was about to do.

She had gotten another ring from her sponsor—there was a Numel with her name written all over it.“About time he got to breeding it, too. Well, I gave way for the other guy who wanted it first. He was wanting one for the longest time,” she said with a chuckle as she then decided to drop by in person once again—and would she run into the purple-haired assistant that she’d encountered the past few times? Who knew if that was going to happen? She then laughed as she tucked an incubator underneath her arms and then prepared to walk along the Humilau shoreline, enjoying the scenery before abruptly taking a turn and following the now well-worn path and eventually arriving at the façade of her sponsor’s Ranch. Seeing that there were neither trucks— nor delivery men—out front, she guessed that it would be another slow day today.
She then went inside and heard the familiar bell tinkle above the door; and was surprised to see that there was a Chansey behind the counter this time! “Oh, hello… can you get me one of the Numel eggs, please?” she said in her sweetest voice, before stretching out and giving the Chansey a pat on the forehead. She then grinned, and watched as the Egg Pokemon then ambled out of the room, apparently headed somewhere—whatever he was doing with the Chansey, it was working; because less than ten minutes later she came out balancing weird-colored egg in her hands; before going out and around the counter and then gently calling for her attention with a few cries. “Oh… hello, slide it in here, if you please,” she continued, watching as the Chansey then set down the Numel egg with a slight bump, before sealing the containment unit. “Thank you,” she said with a grin on her face as she petted the pink Pokémon again, before walking out the door incubator tucked under her arms.
