Nature was a strange thing if you really thought long and hard about it. When the sun was out and the wind was still, it was almost as if the thought of 'nature' ceased to exist in the big city. Things changed once the weather morphed into something dangerous and distressing, and when the gloom of the water laden clouds swirled about and melted into the warmth of the baby blue sky, Luella found herself increasingly cognizant of the presence of nature, regardless of whatever technological forest she found herself in. She wasn't the only one that found the change in weather out of place; the news was up in arms about it, and while the Bubble Dome made sure to play mind meltingly relaxing music when paying customers were around, Luella was one of the first to switch the TV monitors to the news and huddle around with the rest of the employees to figure out what the hell was going on out there.
It was a peculiar thing, but it didn't immediately affect Luella. Not directly, anyways. It wasn't as if they were drowning in hurricanes or getting washed away by floods, but it was after attempting a few breedings with the Aquarium Pokemon that Luella noticed something different about them these past few weeks. She was far from being an aquatic consultant, and her knowledge about Pokemon behaviors was limited to the Pokemon she spent the most time with, but the Aquarium Pokemon seemed distressed for reasons unknown. Quite frankly, they weren't producing any eggs either. Neo, the young Togepi that enjoyed being propped inside of her jacket as if it was a hidden pouch, also seemed to pick up on the aquarium mon's distress when a once friendly Horsea spent more time hiding underneath the aquarium's foliage than responding to his greetings.
"It's not you...probably." Luella loosely comforted the Togepi with half-assed words, occasionally mumbling to herself as she glanced around each of the tanks, feeling a little offended at how most of the Pokemon preferred to hide than swim out and greet her with a playful wiggle of their tails and fins. The aquarium was nearing its closing time, and it had been much too long since Luella put her fish breeding skills to work. Even if she put in the effort to help care for the aquarium fish, it kind of sucked not being able to do the main job she was hired for. Sure, she got paid, but if this disaster with the aquatic life wasn't figured out soon, then she'd be missing out on that beautiful, consistent paycheck that she adored so much.
The whole thing was strange, and even if Luella didn't find herself knowledgeable enough to get to the Bikini Bottom of it, she'd do what she could to keep the resident Pokemon content until things passed over.
[attr="id","notes"]Events related to Lugia Effects. Open thread. Kind of looking for something casual where characters can react to the stuff on the news, see how it personally relates to characters, maybe use aquarium resources to look into this stuff? Idk the possibilities are thereee. just let me knowww whatchu want what you really really want.

For the time being, Kouji had relocated to one of the ‘vacant facilities’ located within the Bubble Dome (due to Bayonada constantly being ‘under fire’ from the freak weather changes) and he was having a much harder time for it—even after he’d already alerted the Golden Egg Society that he’d temporarily moved out from his ‘home base’ due to the fact that the weather was literally stuck in what appeared to be ‘freak storm’ and ‘intense rainfall’ most of the time.
It wasn’t just that, too—as of late, even his own dreams were being plagued by the manifestations of his own ‘strange ability’ to see visions of what was ‘to be’; and most of it involved crashing waves; freak thunderstorms; not to mention Bayonada—his second home, since Humilau would still forever be his first home—getting swept away due to the seas breaching the breakwater and plunging the little seaside hamlet into utter chaos.
The thing is, even the Breeder didn’t understand why the weather had decided to do a complete 180 and just go berserk on them all of a sudden. He was quite happy with the warm, balmy, spring weather that was sweeping through the region—and then suddenly, bam, something happens and upsets the balance of what was nature. He’d even tried to negotiate with his Water-types, but for some weird reason, even after he’d managed to score several successful breeding requests with the other Pokémon types that his ‘preferred clientele’ requested of him, the Water-types under his care were getting all restless. Hell, even the borrowed Aquarium stock from the Dome were becoming very skittish; did it have something—anything, for that matter—to do with the way the weather was dealing out freak thunderstorms all of a sudden?
Well, shit. If I could understand emotions rather than see these strange visions, then maybe I could get to the bottom of this… but nope, I’m stuck with the greatest irony that one can ever give me—hell, even I’m tempted to shout out, ‘Why didn’t I see this coming?!’ when nobody’s around… Kouji mused to himself as he took a walk around the Dome. Normally, there would be people milling around at this time of the day, but the sudden stormy weather had spread to as far as all the way out in Tyntill; so he could guess what was keeping the people away as of the moment. He’d also noticed it with the other ‘denizens’ of the Aquarium; namely the non-Pokémon ones; it was like they could pick up on something, but no matter of asking and trying to understand would bring it to light.
He then sighed, before looking around at the assembled displays—the normally hyperactive squid rays and eels that loved to zip around their tanks were suddenly confined to a particular area—even the handlers he’d asked had no idea what was causing them to act that way. “Ugh…” he groaned, pressing one of his hands to his forehead; before looking around. It didn’t take him too long to spot a head of familiar long blonde hair; so hoping that he would be able to at least get a few answers out of the older woman, made a beeline towards where Luella stood, giving a rather dour look at the occupied tanks. Hell, Kouji was no empath, but there was something in the air…
“Having the same problems I am, eh?” he began in her direction, hoping he didn’t scare the hell out of her (or even caused her to jump a mile into the air, whichever came first).

There were still people wandering around the Bubble Dome around this time of day, so the sound of hasty footsteps melted into the soft, ambient music that served as background noise. Fixated on the wiggling Togepi in her arms, she was caught in the middle of setting Neo by her feet when she noticed Kouji walking towards her with a sympathetic expression. It wasn't all that surprising when he guessed what was on her mind, and letting out a tired sigh, she straightened herself out and nodded in agreement. "You know its bad when even the water type specialists can't help you." Keeping a loose eye on Neo as he stumbled around one of the tanks, searching for the familiar faces that used to smile and dash back and forth to greet him whenever Luella brought him by. He knew he didn't like the rumbling of the thunder or the way the sky suddenly lit up when lightning zipped across the sky, but somehow when they were indoors, all of that felt so far away to him. His attempts at making sense of the actions of his fishie friends were as successful as everyone else's, and while Neo thought they were being irrational, Luella wasn't as quick to dismiss their instincts.
"I don't get it, Kouji. I know it's their first Spring here, but some of these Pokemon were wild. They should be used to storms." From the surface Pokemon like Lotad to the seafloor dwellers like Clamperl and Relicanth, each Pokemon appeared to be equally unsettled by the recent storms. Thankfully they weren't close to Bayonada, which was enduring the worst of the weather, but they were still close enough to endure severe thunderstorms and flooding in certain parts of the city. "The news isn't helping either." She paused, briefly recalling that his ranch happened to be located in Bayonada. Yikes. And it wasn't even that long ago when she was thinking about how nice it would be if she could work in the warm weather through each season. 'Poor guy', she thought, looking at him with sudden sympathy. "But how are you taking this? Your ranch...I mean...you must've had to evacuate on short notice, huh?" How could she even relate to that? It wasn't as if she was forced to move out before, but never as suddenly as the rampaging storms that washed across the Nue region. That being said, all she knew about the events in Bayonada was based on what she saw on the news. Televised media was notorious for being biased, but she doubted that they were exaggerating about something like this. Not when the worst of the weather's effects was broadcast for all to see.
[attr="id","notes"]ayyy dome buddies! Keeping the thread open tho in case other people wanna get in on the aquarium plots.

“You’ve already asked some of the other experts about their behavior?” he began, approaching Luella and lowering his voice so that only the two of them could hear their conversation. He’d caught sight of some guests wandering around, but even they were starting to feel a bit… concerned for the local fauna that called the Aquarium home. He could only begin to imagine the state of affairs in the Splash Zone as well as the Open Sea, where most of the Water-types that they’d bred were now huddling in dark corners or just basically wiggling and scared out of their skin.
“I agree with you,” he continued a few moments later, after taking a look at one of the aquariums where normally, there would be goldfish in all manner of colors swimming lazily by—but today there were none; the fish were all hiding, lurking in their little coves of rock near the bottom of the tank. “This weather, they’re supposed to enjoy… I mean, what’s a little more water for them to swim in? But then again…” he trailed off with a rather serious look on his face, before sighing.
“Yeah… I had to close down the Ranch over in Bayonada, seeing as the place is just about ready to go to all hell…” he added with a concerned furrow on his brow sometime later. “I’d already sent out emails to all my clients to forward their requests over here in Tyntill instead, at least until the worst of the weather is over, and I hope that’s soon,” he ended with a sigh, before gently knocking on the glass, wondering if the fish would come swimming towards him instead of cowering out of sight.
He's very worried about his establishment, too. Luella B. Mynn
