We find ourselves in the middle of a battle, as Josh has encountered a wild Snubbull in the field. Determined to catch it, Josh has sent out one of his newer Pokemon, a Froakie by the name of Espio. The Froakie was still relatively young, and had just hatched not too long ago, but he had been good in training and Josh was confident in Espio's abilities by what he had seen so far. But this would be the first time that Espio would truly be tested.
"Don't underestimate it, Espio" Josh said, taking a breath to relax himself.
Snubbull:
Fire Fang Crunch Ice Fang Thunder Fang
"Fro!" Espio let out as he stared down his opponent. The Snubbull was as focused as it's opponent though, but would make the first move. As the Snub's fangs would start sparking, Josh would wait until it came close... "Double Team!" Josh would call. "Fro!" Espio let out as he would split into two, then three! Then four! Then five! Then ten! Then twenty! The Snubbull seemed to be having trouble identifying which Froakie was which after the one that it hit would just disappear. Of course, then Snubbull would start sniffing... Using it's senses....
"Look out, I think it can see right through it!" Josh warned too late as the Snubbull would suddenly hit the Froakie with a Thunder Fang, the real one this time. Espio would fall back and the copies would disappear. Josh took a breath, he'd forgotten about Snubbell's senses... A foolish move on his part. Something he would remember in future.
"Time to go on offense!" Josh said. "Bounce!" he called. "Fro!" he let out as he would use his intense jumping ability to leap high into the air. Snub would leap after him, though obviously would find out the hard way that all it would do is give a firey glow to it's fangs, as it couldn't match the Froakie's jumping ability. "Go!" Josh called. Espio would dive down in mid-air, before his feet hit the Snubbull's head, bouncing off and sending it crashing down to the ground. It was as if Espio was playing Super Mario Bros or something.
"Hydro Pump!" Josh called. "FROOOOOOO!" he let out in response as he unleashed a heavy torrent of water toward the Snubbull as it was trying to recover on the ground, drenching it in vicious jets of water. The Snubbull was helpless for a moment under the intense pressure of the Hydro Pump. Josh couldn't help but be impressed with Espio's ability. It seemed he was quite impressive for his age, and Josh was certainly taking notice. To battle at this intensity so young showed an obvious potential that he had, and Josh would take care to make sure that he hit his full potential.
"Toxic Spikes!" Josh called. "Fro!" Espio would call as he would launch a set of spikes toward the Snubbull as the jets of water stopped. This time, the Snubbull would dodge, and suddenly leap up as it's fangs sparked, slamming it right into Espio in mid-air. The poor thing would be zapped and sent flying back, hitting the ground hard. Josh took a breath. "Gah... Come on, Espio!" he encouraged. "You're doing great! Don't get discouraged!" he said, taking a breath. "Fro..." Espio let out weakly as he managed to get up. But the Snubbull wasn't waiting. It would leap toward him, fangs sparking again.... Hoping to finish it off.
"Hydro Pump!" Josh called. "FROOOOO!" Espio let out as he unleashed a mouthful of heavy water, intercepting the charging Snubbull, and worse, causing it to zap itself as the water conducted electricity. "Stop" Josh said as the fried Snubs would collapse to the ground. Josh would pull out a Pokeball and throw it.
Now this was a sight worth seeing. Who knew waking up one morning from a nightmare involving pink, furry and ugly would turn out to be a premonition?
Ecruteak city, in the region of Jhoto, was well known as a town much like Celestic Town, a place that seemed frozen in time, more so than her hometown. While she did come here to take a look at the twin towers, or at least what used to be the twin resting place of two Legendary Pokemon, rumours of a "swarm" of Snubull, for a lack of a better term, were passing by the grassy terrains just on the outskirts of the town. The Fairy Pokemon weren't known for their fighting tendencies, despite their prowess at the act. Their jaws were very powerful, and though they did not bark, their bite was a different question. However, they did prefer to scare their opponents away. Hopefully, the one she happened to find would break all those stereotypes and go against all she knew about them.
As she tread the grass undaunted by the sheer amount of Snubull in the area, nearly all the wild pink fur-balls had actually decided, against their better judgement, to run away from her instead of scaring her. What? Was she actually scarier than these little mutts? Somehow the thought of being considered uglier than a Snubull by the species itself was quite annoying. Continuing to walk the grass, the only thing she could see was rustling grass away from her...
She stopped walking and took a deep breath to sooth her anger. Taking out one Pokeball from the back of her black over coat, Professor Elder released Hushkill from it's containment unit.
"Gastly!!" It exclaimed gleefully as evident by it's incessant loops and acrobatics in mid-air. He was clearly more than happy to stretch it's legs. If he had any, of course.
"See the rustling grass? I want you to use on Infestation on anything that's moving away from me." The orders were clear for Gastly, it was a simple deter escape mission. What he wanted know was the anger that was clearly seething from those words. His curiosity led him to some thinking, which meant a little delay on her orders.
"GASTLY!" Charlotte called his attention. The gas pokemon clearly jumped in surprise, and if it had hairs, they would be up. There was only one time when she called him by his species name, and that was when she was clearly mad.
"Gasstlyyy!!" A cloud of black dust emanated from his mouth, taking on various shapes and forms but ultimately Gastly spread the infestation all around him, hoping to find a target. Now, there was more than one purpose for doing such a move, aside from trapping their target/s. The Snubull she wanted was a small furball with the Rattled ability that was a rare power from their kind. Each time a Bug, Dark or Ghost move would touched them it increased their speed substantially. Now, why would she give the advantage to their opponent? This was because power held irresponsibly was more dangerous than used properly.
Now, Gastly's infestation worked slow but very effective. While some of the Snubull around them didn't know what was causing them some damage, there was one rustling patch of grass that was actually moving away from them at a much faster rate than those infected.
"Hushkill, over there!Confuse Ray, 12 o'clock!" Charlotte did somewhat of a good job to keep up with Gastly as it sped towards the rustling grass. It had prepared the 6 orbs of purplish pink energy ready to fire. Despite the increase of speed, Gastly was still slightly faster than the speeding Snubull. Charlotte knew the Snubull was more than scared to fight back, but they had to prepare still if it did fight back to run away. Charlotte stopped running after a while, and just watched them from a distance.
"Hushkill use the confusion ray now!!"
"GAAASTLYYYY!!" Before shooting the confuse ray, Gastly made a sharp curve to stop the Snubull in it's tracks. In a clumsy attempt to avoid the attack, Snubull tripped up while trying to jump. He did roll away safely but he couldn't escape anymore. The Gastly's infestation had taken some of his's strength away and was still doing some damage. With shaking legs, he bared his fangs.
"Snuuubulll!!!" The snubull growled softly, a futile attempt to scare the unknown creature away.
"Gastlihihihihi" Hushkill could only laugh at this.
"Hush, now. It's time we end this." Charlotte walked up beside her Gastly, with a pleased smile. Her full-on glare actually scared the spots out of him.
SNUBULL The Fairy Pokemon
Ability: Rattled
MOVES:
Playrough
Crunch
Fire Fang
Roar
The Snubull did not wait for Gastly to strike, now that he knew about it's speed, it jumped up to a surprising height thanks to it's increased speed. Jaws wide open, Snubull's only teeth grew dark and started burning with a grey energy akin to fire. It was probably hoping to land a Crunch from above and knock out Gastly.
She wouldn't have it.
Hushkill had taken to pretending to look for Snubull from side to side. Charlotte had to admit, the tactic was smart but it looked stupid. "Hushkill...!" She chided him and called his attention as the Snubull was nearing down on him.
"Confuse Ray at point blank rage!" A series of purple bullets struck Snubull who was a few inches from nailing Gastly into a OHKO. The proximity and force of the Ray pushed him away, to skid on Gastly's far right. The pink Fairy Pokemon showed signs of a confused Pokemon; swirling eyes and a pendulum like swerving. However, Confuse Ray now had not only granted him a state of confusion, but also another Boost in speed. He did try to get up now, and use it's speed again, however, while confused he had lost some control over it and couldn't stand up very well, tripping over another attempt of Crunch, as well dealing a little damage to itself.
"Good. Now, finish it, Hushkill." She said with a little bit of gloating on the side. "Use Hex!"
"Gastly, gastly gastly..." The chanting caused Gastly's body released a dark fuchsia glow and a dark circle appeared where Snubull was trying to get up again. "...gastly, gastly... GAS!!"
Finishing the chant, the dark circle began to glow and release a tower of black energy, causing a surmountable amount of damage to the Snubull. After the tower subsided, the Snubull appeared to have fainted from the residual damage of Infestation, combined with Confuse Ray, and a Hex.
"Nicely done." Charlotte congratulated her ghostly companion as she threw a Pokeball to catch the downed furball.

It wasn’t everyday Luella had the chance to travel all the way over to Johto’s very own Ecruteak City; known for the historical value in the two towers that could even be seen as hazy shadows from the farthest corners of the town, even the locals had a certain charm to them based on the way they adorned themselves in Ecruteak-style clothes and jewelry. She had plenty of reason to be envious of the silky smooth clothing of the higher-classed members of society as they passed her by, likely walking with the intent to do all of the important business things that rich people did when they weren’t wasting it away with fancy sports cars and big screen TVs. Of course, she was in Johto because of important business things too, and even though she lamented leaving Cider back in Hoenn due to financial issues regarding transportation, eventually she’d find a way to scrounge up the cash to take her beloved van anywhere she wanted.
She wasn’t shy in admitting that her money grubbing efforts were all for the sake of living the work-free lifestyle she always desired, but she found it hard to believe that a critical part of this plan was to catch something as adorable as a Snubbull. Talk about your stereotypical rich person Pokemon. When she was a little girl, even on the streets of Vendanturf, she could see wealthy coordinator fans sitting in the stands with their perfect pooches scowling in their laps. She could only imagine the fine lifestyle that most of them had, and if she managed to catch one for her day care hobbies, she’d probably be the only Snubbull owner that lived life hard from the back of a van. The contradiction was enough to tickle her laughter, earning her a few confused stares as she muffled herself with a wrinkled and calloused hand that had been worn down from life and work.
Right as she cut around the corner to a nearby park, she clasped her hands together in awe at the massive Snubbull swarm that filled the benches and bushes, all lazily lounging around as if they had complete ownership over everything within the fenced parameters. ”Good thing I only need one.” It was funny to think that as soon as she caught a swarm Snubbull, she was done here. That would be it, and then she could make the most out of this trip and do what she wanted. She’d miss Cider dearly, but she didn’t see the harm in treating herself to a mini vacation each time she went swarm hunting.
She narrowed her search for the Snubbull that screamed out to her as being ‘the one’, which was a ridiculous concept in a romantic context, at least for her, but she rarely shied away from her intuition. There was quite the variety in personalities when it came to the same species of Pokemon, much to her surprise after watching various Snubbull interact with one another as if they were human. Unique in both personality and appearances, assuming she looked hard enough to tell each Snubbull apart. She finally settled down on a pudgy Snubbull that couldn’t get enough of the junk food it scouted out of a garbage can. It ate with its back towards the group, preferring to keep to itself as others giggled to each other and playfully skirted past, not showing much interest in a Pokemon that didn’t want to be bothered. Besides, it kind of reeked of trash anyways. ”Yes. It’s you. I know it’s you.” The Snubbull didn’t have much time to notice the blonde that was slouched over it, totally engulfed in her shadow as it fumbled around with a near naked chicken bone in its paws. Snubbull tried collecting her composure by picking up her jaws, scrunching it back into her face in an attempt to play it cool. <What do you want? You can’t just startle pretty girls because you’re bigger than me, human.> She huffed and turned up her nose, hoping that a couple of agitated barks would be enough to chase the longing cash symbols out of Luella’s eyes. Luella’s stare kind of creeped her out, to be honest. Even now, Luella acted as if the Snubbull never had a complaint, even going as far as to squeeze the Snubbull tight against her chest, refusing to let go as the bulldog struggled against her grip. ”Hey, Snubbull. You reek like a rotted corpse, but I want you in my life.” At this point, the Snubbull was chomping down on her arm, fangs going from the clothes part of her arm until it scaled down to her bare wrists. ”Wow. I hope I don’t need a shot from that.” Oh, how badly she wanted to cry like a fussy child. If her parents and siblings hadn’t shamed her out of crying freely, she probably would’ve attempted such a thing too. Instead, she took in a deep breath and exhaled as much as she could, releasing the wild Snubbull so she could melt away the pain with the power of happy thoughts.
If her dream Snubbull wasn’t going to accept its future life with her, then she had little choice but to use Pokemon Trainer logic and beat it up with another Pokemon. After coming all this way from Hoenn to Johto, she was at least taking a Snubbull back home with her. But it had to be this Snubbull, because there was no doubt in her mind that if she failed to catch it, she’d suffer a horrible, miserable fate on the boat ride back due to her unfortunate loss.
Maybe her arm was bleeding, but if it was, it didn’t feel like anything to fret over. She only caught a quick glimpse of it as she tossed her Patrat and Spinda’s Pokeballs at the Snubbull, which didn’t work the way Luella planned when the spheres proceeded to bonk the snarling Snubbull in the nose before coming out. Two against one was hardly fair, but Luella wasn’t about to risk failure, and she was pretty sure that no one was looking their way. Several of the swarm Snubbull had already dashed into the cover of the bushes the moment they realized that a trainer was on the field, and they weren’t in the mood to get their paws dirty in the potential scuffle. ”Do I get bonus points for that? No?” Damage was damage, and she counted it as revenge for the nasty bite she got earlier.
Red-Eyes looked around in confusion upon popping out, noticing a distinct difference in the air’s scent that felt nothing like Hoenn. His eyes finally fell upon the Snubbull, and right when he was starting to figure out the situation, the fairy type lunged at him with a mouthful of embers drooling out of her mouth, leaving him little time to react and dodge as she clamped down on his arm. It hurt about as much as you’d expect from a dog that also doubled as a drooling flamethrower, but the flames carved themselves into the Patrat’s skin, burning him even after the Snubull was shoved off by Baby Dragon’s Dizzy Punch. <Hanging in there, yeah? Keep your piss inside and shake it off.> Feeling awfully confident after her heroic save, Baby Dragon saluted Red-Eyes off so she could do big girl things and punch some faces in.
<You think it’s going to be that easy to take me down? You don’t even know me, you living piece of road kill!> Snubbull wasn’t taking any of this, especially when she couldn’t even tell which Pokemon to focus on. Now would’ve been a lovely time to have friends, so at least those in the swarm could come to her aid when she needed it most, like say, right now. Except no, they all decided to leave her behind so she could handle her own trash and take it out. Smoke puffed out of her nose as her eyes and mouth took on the jagged appearance of a lit jack-o-lantern, and when she lifted her arms into the air, they resembled crooked pink vines that were ready to ensnare her prey. The Scary Face trapped the Spinda in her spot, but what made move even more effective was when the Snubull charged her with a twisted punch and kick in retaliation. Now that was Payback, and after getting a good punch to the muzzle, it was such a relief to get that out of the way. Baby Dragon stumbled back from the blow, overwhelmed by the Snubbull’s power. She wasn’t all that good at battling by herself, yet this pink dog had enough punch to faint her three times over.
Despite the effects of the burn wearing him down, Red-Eyes tried to patch himself back up by Working himself Up in the meantime. He snarled as he flexed his arms as high as he could, engulfed in an energizing orange light that helped add a some sting to his attacks. Whistling Baby Dragon out of her shock, she copied his stat boosts with a Psych Up, grinning wickedly once she felt a similar orange light flow straight into her paws. It wasn’t the best boost out there, but as long as Red-Eyes stuck around, she could eat up any stat boosting move he used without delay. But the Snubbull wasn’t about to make things easy on her either, shooting a Scary Face at the Patrat to keep him out of her way, and upon hearing his surprised squeak, she laughed. <Glad I’m finally getting some respect around here. You still need to be taken down a notch, swirls.> Back to her typical grumpy façade, she pointed a paw right at the Spinda, intent on focusing on her until the Patrat became more threatening.
After making a statement like that, it was only natural for her to back it up by jumping at the Spinda with arms and legs spread apart like an Emolga gliding through the air. Admittedly, it wasn’t easy landing on a Pokemon whose feet stumbled around one another like two people trying to pass each other on the side walk, but they do that thing where they happen to walk into each other, stop, and then try to move around again, only to do the same thing. The constant jumbling and fumbling was a mess, but at least her arm managed to whack the Spinda right down, giving her a chance to chomp and tug at the Spinda’s ear with another Fire Fang. Now Baby Dragon wasn’t having any of that, so she stood up with the Snubbull still latched onto her ear, looked right at her, and gave her a good smack right in the kisser. Her Dizzy Punch was much more formidable than it used to be, and the Snubbull caught herself in a tough place when she cringed and rolled across the grass in misery, paws tightly pressing against her nose in an attempt to coddle the wound away. <Listen, you make jabs about my eyes, I give you jabs to the face. I’m getting good at this punching thing, so watch out.> The Spinda beamed a lop-sided grin, chuckling to herself until the Snubbull was able to stand back up. ”Battles sure like to drag themselves on and on. Can’t you speed this up? Red-Eyes, go do something.” At this point, Luella was far from being an interested spectator and preferred to rest it up on the grass. As long as they weren’t battling on top of her, she didn’t mind tuning out and resting her eyes until she was needed.
<I would, but we might end up hitting each other.> With a fretful click of his tongue, Red-Eyes could only circle close to the group as the Spinda and Snubbull exchanged blows, both looking as if they were approaching their limit. This would’ve been so much easier on them if they bothered to exercise every now and then, but being a Pokemon of Luella’s meant picking up on her rather lax habits and tendencies, and both of them were getting rather pudgy as a result. Even if the Snubbull was an inexperienced battler, there was a good chance it got more exercise than the two of them combined. <I should kick us to diet. This is ridiculous.> Wincing once the Snubbull got another rough Fire Fang on the Spinda, he jumped to all fours on the off chance that Baby Dragon couldn’t finish her off without the extra support. <Sit your patoot down, I’m fine. Watch.> With the Patrat lingering so close to the battle, it was hard not to catch a glimpse of his eerie stare every now and then. His lack of confidence in her ability was a miserable feeling, but that only motivated her even more to prove him wrong. Right as the Snubbull tried to back herself out with a fierce Scary Face, Baby Dragon closed in the gap right as the Snubbull’s eyes began to glow, and right as her legs and arms began to slow from the attack, she smashed right through the spooky illusion with a Dizzy Punch, finally bopping the fairy unconscious.
It felt good getting that Snubbull out of the way, and with Baby Dragon’s delighted hoots and cheers ruining the park’s otherwise serene atmosphere, Red-Eyes kicked Luella awake with a couple of bonks to the head. The first time she told him to really smack her awake, he had only cautiously probed and scratched at her cheeks, but by now, Red-Eyes knew better. If he wanted to awaken a deep sleeper from a deep slumber, he had to hardcore kick and screech as if he was getting murdered in a horror movie. ”Uhm…? Oh!” Rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes as she tugged out a hidden headphone tucked away in her ears, she clasped her hands in appreciation at the sight of the fainted Snubbull. Now that was a beauty if she ever saw one. ”You did good. We can celebrate with slushies, because mmm, slushies.” Scratching Red-Eyes behind the ear with a rewarding smile, she skipped off to Baby Dragon to do the same, only adding an additional head rub for guarding the fainted Snubbull as she slept.
Taking out one of her precious, shiny Pokeballs from her jacket pocket, she dropped it over the fairy’s head as if it was a tetris block.

The traditional look of the town was something Jason would usually appreciate, as well as the culture and history, but as of lately, nothing was having him feel particularly... Happy. In previous years, Jason had gone through ups and downs, but they usually just lasted a few days, if that. He'd either drown out the feeling with booze or drugs, even random hook ups, but now that he was running or hiding most of the time and training when he could, it just felt like he was empty. Yes Jason loved being with his pokemon, but they can't make up for Human company for so many months. The loneliness, along with depression, put the young man in a very dark place.
Which was what this little vacation was for. The heat he had been receiving in other regions was minimal in Johto, the rather traditional and down to earth region seemingly cut off from everyone else save for its neighboring region. Now that he was actually in Johto, and in one of the most beautiful and historical towns it could offer, he still felt nothing. He had just got done with a short tour of Tin Tower, learning about some of the history he already knew a little bit about. Watching the sun set on a bench near the fabled tower that burned down, Jason munched on a churro. He had bought it from a street vendor, the delicious smell wafting over to him when he had been on his way to the hotel room he had gotten for the night. It tasted great, just as the vendor had assured him it would, but it still didn't help with the sinking feeling in his heart.
Jasmine, his Kirlia, sat with him on the bench, watching her trainer with sad eyes. She could feel the depression hanging over him and wished desperately that she could do something to help, but there was nothing she could offer. The emotion pokemon knew that she couldn't manipulate his emotions, especially in this state where his psyche was so frail, so she simply sighed and watched; His pain bringing pain to her heart.
A nearby bush rattled, Jason not noticing as he stared off towards the sunset, completely zoned out. Jasmine, on the other hand, was immediately at attention, her eyes flashing hot pink as she prepared herself to defend her trainer to the death. Fumbling out of the bush came a small puppy like pokemon, rolling over its head and landing directly in front of Jasmine. Its tiny little nose wiggling as it sniffed the air searching for the source of the mouth watering aroma. Jasmine watched it, and feeling no aggression from it, allowed it to stay. Perhaps the cuteness and innocence of the pokemon could help her trainer. After sniffing around for a few more minutes, the Snubbull's bum up in the air as his nose was on the ground, he finally realized that the source was above him. It began to try and climb onto the bench, but being as young and small as it was, it couldn't. The baby pokemon then tried jumping to reach it, an adorable sight as it reached and reached for the prize. Finally, with neither working, it began to beg. A soft coo came from its mouth as it whined, "Snuuuuuuuu...", its tiny paws reaching for the tantalizing treat.
The noise was enough to pull Jason from his day dream, and he looked down to find a Snubbull in between his legs, staring directly at the churro in his hand. For just a moment, a tiny smile popped onto his face as he gave the sweet pastry to the fairy pokemon. Most wouldn't have noticed the slight shift in Jason's attitude, but Jasmine did and it was more than enough for her to believe that the little pink pup needed to accompany them. Using her psychic power, she telekinetically pulled a pokeball from Jason's bag and placed it in his lap, a puzzled look crossing his face before he got the point. Shrugging, he went ahead and dropped the ball on the snacking Snubbull, not particularly sure why Jasmine wanted him to capture the pokemon.

... And he missed. It was pathetic really. Jason hadn't even tried that hard to even get the pokeball to touch the small fairy pokemon, and when it didn't, he just shrugged and turned the other way. Jasmine, however, was not going to give up so easily. That little pink pokemon, who was currently devouring a churro, had stirred something in Jason the rest of his pokemon couldn't. Even if it was just a one time thing, Jasmine wanted the Snubbull around so it could keep Jason happy, or at least try to. As the fairy pokemon finished its snack, Jasmine's eyes glowed hot pink, and she locked the pokemon down with telekinesis, then she blasted it with a hypnotic force.
Just to make sure the thing would be weak enough for an easy capture, the psychic emotion pokemon let loose a wave of psychic energy at the now sleep Snubbull. Feeling confident that it would be a much easier task for her trainer, she picked the pokeball up and made her way to Jason, dropping it in his lap. He looked at it for a second, then the sleeping Snubbull and sighed, once again tossing the capture device at the pokemon.

I guess friendship isn't enough... Kirlia used telekinesis to lock the Snubbull in place, then used Hypnosis and Psychic.
