Izumi decided to take a little break from all the digging that she’d been doing so far—simply because there was a chance she might start running into duds again after having a few successful digs under her belt so far. She was now in the process of training a lot of her team mates; however there was one little pressing problem—her Hydreigon, Riku, had not allowed anyone, any single individual, to ride it on its back for the longest time! She knew that she could not rely on Sora too much; even if he was a Braviary big enough to carry her, even they get tired from all the flying and flapping around—and she didn’t know who else to contact; because she didn’t know anyone else who had a Hydreigon that didn’t just go cuckoo whenever someone—rather, any single member of her “army” tried to approach it! “Ugh, what am I going to do about this guy…” she groaned to herself, holding Riku’s Pokeball in her hands—had he suddenly gone off the deep end, or something?
This is going to definitely be a problem I can’t tackle alone… she thought to herself as she began spinning his Pokeball around, secretly hoping that he wasn’t going dizzy or anything. That also led her to wonder: what was the world like inside an occupied Pokeball? Was it something like a room that was suited to their typing; or was it just an empty space that held them until they were called out and sent into the real world? “How am I going to deal with you?” she muttered to herself again, dropping the Pokeball into her pocket and then heading off to one of the shops in the area, in order to see if there was anything she could wear; her wardrobe also seriously needed some updating too! After around half an hour… she emerged from the store, weighed down with quite a lot of shopping bags—most of them were filled with scarves, hats, a few bags—and there were some that even had one-piece dresses, along with some more shirts and pants!
“…well that didn’t help too much either…” she groaned, flopping back onto the bench with her arms loaded, piling all the bags on her left side and plucking out her Hydreigon’s Pokeball again from her pocket. “Geez, I ended up distracting myself but the problem is still here, staring me in the face… how am I supposed to tame you?!” she said with a sigh, tossing the Pokeball up and down, trying to figure out a way for her current problem.

Thomas walked into Sanlatune City. After his little "fight" with the punks who attacked him, and that girl with the bleeding heart, he crossed through the Sanlatune Forest. Unfortunately, due to the similarities it shared with the Viridian Forest, it was an unsettling walk down memory lane for him. Thankfully, he had no interactions with any humans, nothing tried to attack him, it was all safe for the trainer.
Thomas looked around the city, mostly for any signs of a Machop, or other hostile Pokemon. Assuming the boys didn't either run off, or get themselves arrested already, he felt like they would try to get revenge for what happened in Aquacorde Town. Thankfully, nothing came of it, and Thomas was safe for the moment.
However, as he walked through the city, he heard a familiar voice, one of an old friend. She was loudly going on about taming something. Immediately, Thomas rushed over to see the situation. And unless she was just a lookalike, that was Izumi.
"What needs to be tamed, Izumi?", questioned Thomas. The bags on the left didn't go unnoticed, neither did her tossing of the Pokeball.
If she'd notice, he was in a pair of boots, jeans, a plaid button-up shirt, and a black hat. On his back was a bag. It looked like his clothes had recently dried out after being soaked.

She continued to toss the Pokeball containing her Hydreigon up and down when she heard a voice address. Not the one she was secretly expecting to hear; but a familiar voice all the same—she looked up and saw that Thomas had somehow found his way into Kalos; and that his clothes looked like they’d just come from the spin cycle of a washing machine! “Oh! Hey there Tom. Wasn’t expecting to see you here… did you come from the dry cleaner’s or something? Your clothes look like they’ve been through the ringer,” she began; an attempt at diffusing the air around them, before getting to the actual problem she was experiencing. “Well, let’s just say that I have a Hydreigon and he’s… got quite the pride issue at the moment. He doesn’t want anyone—that includes me—to ride on his back. My Braviary doesn’t mind; in fact he loves carrying me through the sky… but… you know. I need back-up options just in case something happens. You never know,” she continued, still tossing the Pokeball up and down from her right hand. “It’s been bothering me for some time now, and I don’t know how to fix it…”
She then lapsed into silence for a few moments before remembering that the opposite side of the bench was unoccupied! “Oh, silly me. Have a seat. Sorry the left side’s a bit… full at the moment. Just needed a wardrobe update, among other things… also, do you know anyone else who has a Hydreigon I can ask about, in regards to my current problem? I’m out of ideas,” she continued with this extremely sheepish look on her face. That and my team needs updating, among other things… she thought to herself cringing at the relative inexperience she had when it came t battling—her main six seriously needed an overhaul, first off. That’s what I need to work on, I need at least one steady anchor, and I have plans on making Riku one of those “anchors”, but how am I going to do this if he doesn’t want to listen to anyone? Why did he have to go through his “rebellious phrase” now of all things… she continued to herself, catching the Pokeball before dropping it down her pocket.

WORDS 380 TAGS Tom NOTESRebellious Hydreigon teenager phase wat.
Post by Thomas Thaddeus on Jul 9, 2014 1:34:50 GMT -5
Thomas let out a laugh upon hearing the remark about his clothes. "Long story, actually.", Thomas replied to her. But once she got onto explaining her problem, he listened to what she had to say about the matter. Thankfully, since it was about a Hydreigon, he had an answer to the question. As someone who had recently evolved his Zweilous into a Hydreigon, he had to deal with the fallout upon the blind creature suddenly gaining a pair of eyes.
"I see... At least you have a backup. But don't worry about Braviary, they are pretty damn strong in their own right, but I see what you mean...", he told the girl.
When she offered him a seat on her right side, he immediately sat down, slumping in the bench.
"But yeah, has it been acting... berserk... since it evolved into a Hydreigon?", inquired Thomas. At this point, the trainer was probing the situation, hoping to find out more. If it was essentially the same problem he had, then he could help Izumi with it, assuming he could find a good place for it to vent its rage and energy around the area.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Jul 9, 2014 4:24:03 GMT -5
“Humor me while you’re at it,” she remarked towards the state of his clothes, and then heard the bench creak ever-so-slightly as he took a seat next to her. “It’s always comforting to have at least one back-up if in case the other gets taken out… any ideas?” she continued, unaware of what he was saying. Only a few moments after he’d asked if her own Hydreigon was going berserk, she could only sigh, and offered as much insight as she could without getting too detailed. “Let’s just say his ‘rebellious teenager phase’ just kicked in now; normally he wasn’t so… wild whenever it comes to me using him in battle. I think… I think my latest escapade at getting Mega Stone knowledge tipped him off and made him very unstable right now. I’m… even afraid to let him out of the Pokeball he’s in,” she continued, taking another look at the very battered, battle-worn Safari Ball that served as her Hydreigon’s home.
As to the question of how long ago Riku’s evolution would be… “Normally he was so… ‘docile’ if you could call him that. Whenever I use him in battle, he just relies on sound, and not visual commands. I trained him to be that way ever since he was a Deino. I don’t know what exactly happened, but when he became a Hydreigon he just got a lot more… bull-headed, if that’s how you can put it,” she continued, wondering how he would have dealt with it; since from the way he was asking the question, it seemed that he had similar experiences with the current topic of discussion. “Is there anything I can do to make him stop being so hard-headed? He’s not listening to my commands or anything ever since the last time I used him in battle… he couldn’t accept the fact that he’d lost to a Vaporeon that had Ice Beam’d him into a frozen chunk of ice,” she continued, hoping that additional insight would help him with his assessment of the problem.

"Alright, lemme hear about your problem first.", Thomas replied to her, smirking.
When he heard her mention something about Mega Stones, he raised an eyebrow. Clearly, the boy had never heard of this before. He made a mental note to ask her what she knew about Mega Evolution, since it at least sounded useful to the trainer.
Upon listening to more of what she had to say about the Hydreigon's past, and how they interacted before, he was already starting to get some ideas about the beast. Thankfully, he had the same problem with his Hydreigon, one that he managed to solve in the Desert Resort.
"Deino and Zweilous are both Pokemon who have no eyes. However, upon evolving into Hydreigon, they gain a pair of functioning eyes, therefore the ability to see. And blind creatures who are suddenly able to see kind of go.... for a lack of a better word, mad.", Thomas told the girl. "And I can't say if the defeat he suffered will make it any harder to manage as of yet, but he will need to get used to his new sense.", he explained to her.
"And even then, Hydreigon as a species are some of the most destructive, aggressive species out there. However, there is a method to taming it that should be effective. Essentially, you just need to have the dragon vent its rage, and tire itself out. Then, once it's let out its rage and energy, it should be in a more approachable state. That is when you try to connect with it. At least, that worked out for me and my Hydreigon...", Thomas continued.
"And by the way, what is this Mega Evolution you spoke of? Sorry to derail the main topic.", he asked her.

“So… all I have to do is just let him rage around?” she said out of surprise, unable to believe that he did have a Hydreigon. Man I’ve been so out of touch with everyone, times really do change… she thought to herself as she then listened to what he had to say—after a few moments of silence, she could only say, “So when I do let him run wild… just get out of the way and let him do his thing then?” she confirmed, taking down notes so that she could let him go wild and free; she had totally forgotten about the little fact that the Hydreigon line suddenly gained the gift of “sight” upon evolution. “Whoops, I never knew that was possible. Now it… it makes sense, because I always commanded him by sound and not sight. So I do understand the logic about letting them run rampant until they’re tired…” she trailed off, adding this little bit to herself, so basically I just have to let them run wild like an untamed horse until I can approach them without any trouble… alright that’s fair enough, she thought to herself, taking additional notes regarding what he’d offered.
The topic then turned towards the little secret she’d been chasing with no success so far; and which had also been the indirect cause for her Hydreigon going nuts—“Well, let’s just say that I only know the bare basics about it. I just know the term; but what I can offer you information about is this…” she trailed off, before reaching for a particular carrying case that she always carried with her; before unzipping it open and then showing him the contents within: her own Key Stone, along with the assortment of marbles that she’d found so far. “Apparently, what I’ve been told from that creepy shopkeeper guy in Lumiose is the fact that there are Mega Stones, and I presume this is what those are,” she said presently, pointing to the four multi-colored marbles that were present so far, before continuing, “…and this weird-colored thing is called a key Stone. As to how to use them… well I’m currently stuck. It’s like chasing a headless chicken—I only have half the information; there’s this Tower in Shalour that is apparently called the ‘Tower of Mastery’, and that people actually have to climb and get the information from there. There’s a little problem though: the battles are insanely difficult—and I lost the first time I tried to climb the tower.”
She then sighed at that point, before continuing, “…they do Double Battles in there, and you have to beat them before you can pass and get the information that you need. I’ve seen that tournament thing over in Kanto, and I saw someone who had a Blaziken that…seemingly changed form. Other than that, that’s all the information I have. I’m halfway there, but my battle skills… they suck. That and my Hydreigon kind of took it too personally when we lost,” she added with a sigh—she’d never gotten over that little fiasco at the tower ever since.

Thomas nodded as the girl basically summarized what he was saying. However, he felt he left out one important detail, at least one that was important to how he approached it. However, he waited until she was finished to speak up further. "Though I'd recommend doing it in a desert, or under a waterfall. Obviously, unlike a horse, it would be able to hover over the stream. However, in a sandy environment, they should be able to tire themselves out. However, I mention a waterfall because it's closer to Sanlatune.", Thomas told her.
Thomas listened carefully as she explained what she knew about Mega Evolution. When he saw the marbles, it started to make sense to him. The "gold rush" going on in the Badlands was a search for Mega Stones. The Mega Stones in questioned where what his older sister described back at the bar. However, he had to be sure it was what he was thinking of.
"Did those come from the Badlands?", inquired Thomas, who was seeking confirmation about his theory.
When she told him about the Tower of Mastery, he made a mental note to visit the place when he had the chance. He intended to visit Shalour City in order to battle their Gym Leader; Lady Korrina. In any case, the boy was very interested in Mega Evolution now. Perhaps if he could learn how to utilize it, he'd be better able to combat the Viridian Forest thieves, and take on the currently unknown client he was after.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Jul 11, 2014 2:14:12 GMT -5
Izumi continued to take notes at what he was mentioning—since he did have the expertise in this particular matter unlike she did; for who knew that her Hydreigon would be such an extremely proud creature and refuse to bow down and accept that it had lost?! “I see the point there—normally desert terrain would be ideal, but since it’s so far up north, specifically near Lumiose, then I guess I’ll have to go with the waterfall option then. I don’t think he’d mind blasting the forest and wrecking a few things though…” she admitted with this sheepish grin on her face. Once she’d told him about the marbles (and even showed it to him, just so he could get a good look at what they really were) he then asked the key question about where their location was—and she nodded. “Yep. They come from the Badlands, specifically near the Kalos Power Plant. It’s also close to Lumiose’s northern… or was it western exit, so make sure to dress light and bring a lot of water if you decide to go there,” she confirmed in his direction in regards to his inquiry.
“There’s this weird old guy selling shovels near the dig site, so you might want to try haggling with him. If he asks who sent you, tell him that I did—he… well he kind of knows me, since I always bring the old man food. Might be a good choice to bring some food and water for him as well, and you might get a shovel for much cheaper,” she added with a grin on her face, remembering the interaction with that particularly old geezer who did sell some of the most durable shovels closest to the excavation site.“Also, there’s this thing you may want to know about the Badlands; you can go there four times a month. I’ve already gone there twice, so I’m just taking a short vacation before going back there and trying again… I hope I find more marbles to add to the collection,” she ended with a sheepish look on her face; because she really did want to chase the secret; however she was still lacking some of the most important information at the same time.
Post by Thomas Thaddeus on Jul 12, 2014 0:22:18 GMT -5
Thomas nodded to the girl as she spoke, chuckling about the blasting the forest remark. "But just to hopefully keep the dwellers safe, I'm going to have my own Hydreigon draw his attention. He can handle himself, and can easily help wear down your Hydreigon.", Thomas told Izumi.
Thomas listened to what she had to say about the dig site. She mentioned that it was near the power plant, and could be accessed through Lumiose City. She then mentioned a man selling shovels nearby, and how he could get a discount on one. However, the trainer already had one on him. He reached into his bag, and pulled out a folded shovel.
"Already got it covered. Hopefully he won't be pissed.", Thomas remarked.
The mention of the dig only being four times a month was important to the trainer. At least he knew how his hunts were limited, just like the Safari Zone hunts.
"Alright Izumi, thank you for that. I think I might head for Shalour City after I've challenged the Gym here. But first, did you need my help with your Hydreigon?", questioned Thomas.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Jul 12, 2014 1:23:49 GMT -5
“You have no idea how much help this is. I’m going to try my luck in the tower again after I get my Hydreigon all accustomed to suddenly being to see everything in HD,” she said, a bit of a joking tone at the last part, but overall the entire thing was serious—because her Hydreigon was one of the main anchors of her attempt—however she wanted to change all that; she wanted to have something a bit more… diverse, unlike the last time she’d climbed the tower! She was a bit surprised to see that he already had a shovel on him; add to the fact that it was collapsible, her face crinkled into this little smirk for a few moments before he kept said shovel again.
As for the help with the Hydreigon itself… she then scooped up most of the shopping bags with her left hand and then stood up, before saying, “Lead the way. I definitely can use your help on that. Although we need to find another place to do it, since I don’t want to wreck Santalune or otherwise have it razed to the ground,” she added with a chuckle. That, plus I know he has severe pride issues. Time to actually try and rein him in before attempting to challenge that tower again… she thought to herself as she then looked in the distance, suddenly filled with resolve to get this done and completed before going through anything else that was on her planned list of “to-do” things in Kalos.
Post by Thomas Thaddeus on Jul 13, 2014 23:57:39 GMT -5
Thomas smirked at her remark about getting her Hydreigon under control. "Best of luck to ya.", Thomas told his old friend. Frankly, he was hoping she'd be able to succeed in gaining knowledge about Mega Evolution. It wasn't that he was planning on bumming off of her, but rather hoping a friend's efforts in gaining the materials didn't go to waste.
In any case, Thomas got up from his seat, stretching out. "Alright, I have a good idea as to where this place is.", Thomas told Izumi as he headed for the gates. This was the one leading towards Snowbelle City and Victory Road. As Thomas headed out of Sanlatune City, he mulled over the idea of visiting Snowbelle City for the sake of getting some cold air. Odd as it was, he preferred the cold over the heat, and if the heat of the summer got to him, he had a place to relax for a bit.
After a little while, they came upon a waterfall. "We're here.", Thomas said, internally surprised that they didn't get lost. The trainer sent out his Hydreigon, Gaius, who greeted his master with a nod.
"Gaius, I need you to draw some fire of another Hydreigon, at least until you wear it out. Just don't hurt it too badly, we're going to help him get used to seeing shit.", Thomas told his dragon, who nodded.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Jul 14, 2014 3:33:12 GMT -5
Letting him take the lead, she then proceeded to follow him down and out of the Santalune City limits—before realizing that they were headed towards the Victory Road of this region. Wondering if it was possible to train even in this treacherous terrain, she looked up at the imposing road that lay before them—and then following her friend into the greenery that lay at the base of the area. Izumi was surprised that he knew his way around these parts—and they then arrived at the waterfall; she could only gasp because the sight was just so beautiful! The waterfalls were cascading from what appeared to be a tributary that came from the Victory Road; and it looked to end here; because they were now near a shallow river—if given the chance shed kick off her boots and wade into the shallow water and just kick back! However, they were on a mission—and sooner or later she watched him send out a Hydreigon; her suspicions were correct, he had managed to acquire one—hence the familiarity to the situation.
“Alright… here goes nothing,” she said, plucking out the dented and battle-worn Safari Ball, letting its occupant out in a flash of red light—and at the same time, she dived for cover because the roar that came from the beam that turned into her own Hydreigon was, if for lack of a better word, terrifying. The moment it had been released from the confines of its Pokeball, Riku let out another roar, before quickly gathering and firing off a quickly-cast Dragonbreath at the area! Wondering why it could…hear the sound of water, it then opened its eyes—and was doubly glad that it was not frozen in another hunk of ice; however, the sudden sensation of sight caused it to roar again; and this time it was an actual Roar attack—before seeing something that was in its “line of sudden sight”; another Hydreigon that looked exactly like it! Riku then let loose with another Dragonbreath attack, trying to chase the other Hydreigon out of its line of sight. Back over at where Izumi and Thomas were, she could only cringe at the sudden destructive power that her own Hydreigon was unleashing.
“Ah dear gods. It keeps on using Dragonbreath. Look at all that pent-up rage…” she said, squealing as she heard her own Hydreigon roar again, before suddenly changing course and then going wild with a Body Slam attack on its “doppelganger”! And that’s not me telling him to do anything, he’s just attacking on…sight, she thought to herself, shuddering as another roar shook the area!

The now tame Hydreigon started to fly away from the two humans, it being obvious who was the one with the other Hydreigon. He had a feeling that this might end up hurting him. But at the same time, this was going to be a very interesting little dogfight he'd have on his hands.
By the time the other Hydreigon was let out of his Pokeball, he was far enough away that he had some breathing room to dodge whatever came to him. Thankfully, when he let out the actual roar, any wild Pokemon in the area immediately fled for safety, considerably clearing things for the pursuit that was coming.
Upon the Dragon Breath firing for him, Hydreigon immediately strafed to the side, safely sailing out of the path of the draconian breath attack. He then growled at the Hydreigon, one that would translate into a light taunt. And when the Hydreigon flew towards him for a Body Slam, the Hydreigon again sailed out of the path of the attack quickly, starting to fly around the area, specifically the waterfall.
As Izumi would see, the Hydreigon's movements and overall demeanor were calm, considering what they were dealing with. He knew what Thomas wanted him to do, and he was going to exhaust his fellow Hydreigon to the best of his abilities, assuming he didn't get toasted first.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Jul 27, 2014 3:10:30 GMT -5
Izumi heard a lot of branches bending and snapping, along with a load of rustling—she knew that when her own Hydreigon had used Roar, anyone else who was nearby (be they human or Pokémon) would have been driven away; due to the surprising effects that roar had; and now she was pretty sure they were alone in the area, with nobody else to bother them. Back at where the Hydreigon had just tried to Body Slam its “doppelganger” out of the way, it was miffed—why was it just evading everything it was doing?! The two then heard another roar, and immediately Izumi cringed; because she knew just exactly which one of the two it was. “Looks like he’s pissed,” she said with a palm to her forehead, wishing that Riku would stop being such a weird jerk and just get all the rage out and done with! Her Hydreigon then noticed that its doppelganger was flying over towards the waterfall; and out of annoyance it then began giving chase, quickly flapping its wings and then making them as solid as steel, coming in close for an attempt at a Steel Wing attack, hoping that it could at least try to hit the double that was meandering around, flying and apparently not lifting a finger to fight back.
“Is it… is it just me, Tom, or is your Hydreigon just chill? He’s not even doing anything, just flying around the area…” she muttered sometime later, hearing more roars coming from the forest—much as she wanted to get up close and personal to see what was going on, she decided not to, because it was very dangerous and, well, things were definitely being destroyed. “…and I think I just heard a couple of trees fall,” she groaned, hearing the distinct thudding noise a tree made once it had been chopped from the base of the roots. Back at where Riku was trying to hit the elusive target, it then tried to veer as close as it could (without approaching the roaring water) and then aimed another Dragon Breath attack at the doppelganger, before flying high and then suddenly coming in for an aerial Body Slam attack; hoping that the surprise tactic would catch its “double” off-guard! It then proceeded to follow up with another Steel Wing attack; the better to try and get it out of its sight range as well.
