Now, Altair wasn't one for subterfuge. He preferred to be in-your-face and honest -brutally if need be- about some things. That was why he had asked his benefactor's permission to do this breeding with his new Skrelp, detailing the reason as to why. Unsurprisingly, his benefactor agreed... though that may have been because this time was the first in a long while that anyone actually asked to borrow one of his pokemon instead of using them out of the blue like some jerk.
Now that he had the permission to go ahead, Altair placed the two pokemon needed for the next stage of the chain-breeding, even putting in the proper ambiance for these water-types in order for them to get into the mood. He'd been having good luck with breeding lately, so he hoped that his magic streak continued still.
Generally cloaked figures were a rare sight in public, as it usually ended up pointing someone out as a person who wished to avoid detection, quite the opposite of the general expectation of the trick. This was not the case, however, with one particular individual. She kept to the crowd, continuously moving to avoid staring, draped in a black cloak with a hood that hung low over her face. Once she reached her destination, she withdrew the hood, revealing jet black hair and piercing red eyes which regarded the breeder carefully. "You have access to a male Gardevoir, correct?"
With that, she brought her arm back out of the cloak, this time holding a pokeball, placing it on the counter. "I was hoping you could organize a breeding with my own Gardevoir."

Now this was a very curious request. It was very rare for people to request a breeding between two of the same pokemon. Pure blood breedings were very far and few in between, having fallen out of fashion centuries ago. Heck, it occurs more often in the wild than it did in civilization, mostly because breeders and other people have discovered the awesome gift of egg moves.
However, Altair wasn't about to question this when his business has been slow lately. This would help him become a little more established in the world of breeding, so it was no skin off his nose. Quite the contrary in fact since this will put a little more pocket change into the business. In fact, the only problem would be ensuring that his benefactor agreed to this because he remembered that the man kept that Gardevoir with him at all times.
"Yes, I do. It will be no problem." Altair nodded. "I'll make the arrangements immediately. Please come back in a few days for the results."
Well, here's to hoping that his benefactor will be lenient on him for this.

Altair's previous breeding attempt was a complete success. However, as much as he wanted to break out the wine and celebrate this little victory, it wasn't over yet. He still had to complete the final hurdle before him- the transition into the final pokemon.
Honestly, he hadn't expected to be able to do the last step so soon. He thought that he would have needed to pitch in a request to his benefactor to find one for him, but as luck would have it his benefactor already found one for him to use. How utterly convenient. Since the man was instrumental in helping him complete the chain breeding, he supposed that one of the eggs would have to go to him. It was only fair considering that he had been using the man's pokemon for the previous breeding and this one.
That was partially why he was in front of the last two pokemon in question now. It was time to work his magic and hope for the best possible outcome. Let's see what was going to come out from this endeavor.

FRIENDSHIP IS THE HARDEST THING IN THE WORLD TO EXPLAIN
◥
Unova may be a long way from home, and the voyage in boat may have left Evangeline seasick, but that didn't matter, not anymore. All that mattered was that she was finally in Driftveil City! Evangeline's eager eyes wandered all over the port, drinking in the sight of the famous Driftveil Drawbridge, the always busy Driftveil Market, the Lighthouse in the background.
No, no. Concentrate, Evangeline. Sightseeing was not the reason she was here. Far from it—Evangeline was here for business. She had heard of the couple of Gardevoir being bred in vicinity, and didn't have to think twice about making a little detour to buy one for Prisca, who, as far as Evangeline was corcerned, was still looking for a Ralts of her own.
"Hello, sweetheart. I'm interested in purchasing one of these eggs you have here—I heard they are the offspring of two Gardevoir? How does 25 dots sound for one?"
She would return to the shop, anxious to retrieve her partner. It had been ages since they were separated. "So it was successful, I take it? I'll be taking Lil and one of those eggs, thank you"
With that, she dropped 25 dots onto the counter, glancing over at the pokeball that held the Gardevoir.

This was the first time in a long while that his breeding endeavor had failed. Right when Altair was so close to the finish time too! Damn! He hated it when this happened! It was so bloody inconvenient! This was almost like that failed off-theater show of A Sweetness all over again.
But there was still hope. The magic mushrooms were still stocked inside his cabinet, just in case something like this happened again. After all, all breeders had this in stock or so his grandfather said. Something about the unpredictability of nature.
But despite those thoughts swirling in his mind, Altair was still able to keep a show smile on his as he addressed the two customers at the counter. "Of course, you two. I'll have someone bring it to you right away. Just wait here and they will arrive with the egg and the necessary papers for the both of you and the Gardevoir for you." The last part of the statement had him gesturing at the woman who had lent her Gardevoir for this endeavor.
He then bowed to her with the smile still on his face. "Now if you will excuse me, I have other business to attend to. It was a pleasure doing business with you. I hope you have a safe travel back to where you came from~"

To fail once was understandable. To fail twice was an affront to his developing breeding skills. Though he did not look like it, Altair had a sizable amount of pride in the things he did. That included his abilities as a breeder. To see that there were results like this... this was unacceptable.
It was getting hard enough to explain to his client why he had to keep reusing those mushrooms on his pokemon despite possible side-effects. He would have to find a way to make it up to him accordingly. Somehow. But for now, he had an argument to dissolve between the two pokemon he had been working with before he administered the magic mushrooms to the male again.
At this rate, if it still didn't work then he was going to start giving the drugs to the female. Not his fault that the Skrelp wanted to carry the kids himself despite being young. Such a strange child.
RESCUE BREEDING
Altair's MALE Skrelp && Zerne's FEMALE Goomy
Using a romantic mushroom to repeat the breeding... again.

The blond man had called Zernebog, strangely sounding relieved as he said that he finally had an egg for him. He had absolutely no idea why the man sounded relieved but he figured that whatever was going on behind the scenes had to be extremely frustrating for him to react like that. Well... honestly it wasn't his problem, but he figured that he may have to offer condolences for it sometime, he supposed.
Whatever. He had a Goomy egg and a Skrelp to claim online. Thank you Internet. In exchange, he would be giving a male Rhydon that he had been given a few months ago, as well as 50 dots to pay for the rare breeding tax. Now, this kind of payment was no skin off his nose after discovering the motherload of Evolution Stones back in Kalos and selling off most rights to it, only keeping a royalty fee for anything they've sold. He was now very well-off, which helped with a lot of things.

Altair resisted the urge to sigh. The Goomy egg was going to a good place. He could feel it. Besides, he'll get to see the kid from time to time whenever his benefactor felt like using his place as a rest place for his pokemon. Not that he could blame him since it beat cold storage big time.
Granted, he was losing the Skrelp he had bred but he was getting a Rhydon in return. Well... to be fair, his friends always did tell him that he needed more intimidating guards than his Pawniard and Mienfoo. The former was a Bisharp now, but the point still stood. He had already started by getting a Druddigon, but he still had a lot of work to do before he got a good entourage for when he came back to his regular life.
And he always loved diversity. That was always a bonus in his eyes even though he was sure that he was actually getting the rawer end of the deal for this one. Well, sort of. He borrowed his benefactor's pokemon all the time so he guessed that such low prices were alright.
And once he was done with that then he can proceed with a special breeding request that had been asked of him by his benefactor's grandfather. It was strange but he wasn't about to question it.
Permission to breed pokemon have been obtained from their respective owners. Transactions: Zernebog: 95 - 20(rare tax) - 30 = 45 Altair: 200 + 30 = 230
