The lumbering Charizard that was walking alongside the Pikachu would nod, listening to the entirety of the whole ordeal without interrupting the speaker. Once Lightning was done, the female Charizard was about to turn to address her fellow Pokemon when she thought she heard a shout—what was going on?! The bipedal Fire-type then quickly lumbered forward, following the small Lightning Mouse as he made a mad dash forward; wondering what had happened. Ravana didn’t hear her owner’s voice calling out to her, but from the looks of things it was about to get rather nasty!
The female Charizard then let out another bellowing roar as the loud crashing noise of something falling from the ceiling echoed all around them; and was about to aim a long-range Fire Spin when another pillar of flames cut off her train of thought. Over at where the two humans were now momentarily shell-shocked, standing where there was something that looked like an ice version of Pac-Man was blocking their way… when one of the two Charizards had rushed forward—it was Fawkes! “Uhhh, Josh, now would be the time to—“ she trailed off as she then let out a screech—for it wasn’t just the one Glalie that had appeared, there were several thudding noises that had followed not too long after it!
The ‘lone’ Glalie was now backed up by several of its cohorts; and boy did they look angry. Now that the situation as getting a bit… out of control, the female Charizard then rushed forward as fast as her lumbering legs could manage, coming up beside Izumi, who was still supporting Josh! “Ravvie. Can you keep an eye on those—“ she trailed off as all the gathered Glalies (there were around five to six of them) suddenly let out a simultaneous blast of what appeared to be Ice Beam! “GO! Free will, girl! Do what you have to, blast a way out for us!” she shouted, watching as the multiple Ice Beams converged into a single solid mass of overpowering ice! The female Charizard grunted, before letting out another bellowing roar, rushing forward with a Flare Blitz!
“Crap, crap, crap! Why did they all have to come out now?!” she groaned, frantically searching through her jacket for the other containment units she’d brought along with her. Over at where the female Charizard had taken the lead, Ravana then let out a roar, while addressing the male version of herself. “Get moving! I can’t handle all these chumps alone! Fawkes!” she roared, before quickly slamming her flaming body into the lead Glalie in an attempt to knock it out of the way like a bowling ball would do to a set of pins. She knew that it was going to hurt—but her Trainer could fix that later; this was a pretty nasty situation that they’d landed themselves in at the moment!

Oh god, this wasn't good. Just when Josh thought that one massive Glalie was bad enough, it's followers would decide to join the party. "Oh bloody hell" The injured blonde would mutter. Great. Just great. It had to be more Glalies. The lone Glalie, who Josh presumed was the leader and the one who had shot them down judging by the anger in Fawkes toward it, was getting back up from it's friends. "Lightning, help Fawkes! Use Thunderbolt!" Josh would call. "Pika!" Lightning would respond as he would make a dash for the Glalie Group, before leaping into the air. "Pika.... CHUUUUUU!" Lightning would let out, unleashing a burst of electricity that hit one of them dead on, as Fawkes would act on free will and launch itself toward another Glalie with Flare Blitz, hitting it dead on. One Glalie would go down, while the one that Lightning had zapped would flee. The Ice Beams kept flying, but they were fewer now!
"Get the other 2, Izumi! We'll cover you!" Josh would call toward Izumi, despite his wounds.

Not too long after Ravana had literally hurtled and thrown her entire body weight over at the lead Glalie, several more bursts came shooting from behind—and the female Charizard turned around and breathed a sigh of relief, because the Pikachu, as well as her male counterpart, had joined the fray! She then waited for further orders from her owner; but then remembered that she had been given free rein to do what she needed. Wasting no more time, she then turned to face the remaining Glalies that hadn’t been knocked aside by the Pikachu and the other Charizard, before roaring in their direction; and charging forward once again with another application of Flare Blitz.
The heat had wrapped around her body and she’d literally flung herself headlong into the Ice Beam barrage; thankfully her Fire-typing was more than enough to nullify the incoming Ice-type attacks; and her body made contact with another one of the Glalies; before she whipped around and swung her tail in order to be able to bat the first Glalie; causing it to be shunted backwards before crashing rather hard against its cohort. At this, the two Glalies let out another roar; which the female Charizard matched. Over at where the two humans were now trying to stay out of the line of fire, she then continued to hold up her injured companion, still fumbling around and struggling to locate another one of the containment units she’d brought along with her.
“Josh, calm down, they’ve got it covered. See?” Izumi began, gesturing towards where the two Charizards were now literally slamming themselves into the Glalies; in a bid to keep them apart and to prevent them from launching another repeated assault of Ice Beams. Back at where Ravana stood, she then bellowed out in her draconic dialect, “You heard him! Cover me!” before quickly taking a stance and then charging up her fist with a burst of electric energy. The second Glalie that had not been sent flying then quickly closed the distance, hoping to block off the Cha with a point-blank Ice Beam—but instead ended up eating the electrified fist that was Ravana’s Thunder Punch instead, sending it reeling.
“Come on! Let’s get going!” the raven-haired girl remarked, seeing that their companions had cleared a path for them to take.
WORDS 387 TAGSJosh Dragomir NOTESWe make a break for it!

They seemed to be clearing a path through the Glalie quite nicely, Josh noted, but they still had the issue of numbers. He knew that while they could continue to knock them away, trying to fight a whole pack of fully evolved Pokemon just wasn't going to last them for very long. They needed a plan and they needed it fast. Luckily, with the path they had cleared, they could make a break for it. "Alright" Josh said toward Izumi as he managed to start running, a bit jetlagged from his injuries, but he was used to running while in pain. "Lightning, Fawkes, with me!" Josh would call as both the Lightning Mouse and the Charizard would follow suit.
The dazed Glalie pack didn't know what was going on, and before long they had managed to lose them. They had ended up in some kind of ice cavern... And they had lost them for now.
"Good, good. Now can I tend to you Fawkes?" Josh would ask the Charizard, who would huff and look away. That... Was a no. "That... Sounds like a no to me" He said with a sigh. Suddenly the ground would shake and one of the Glalie would crash into the room. It was the leader, the one who had shot them down! Fawkes would growl and charge toward it with Flare Blitz, despite it's injuries. "Wait, Fawkes, don't!" Josh would cry out, but it was too late. Fawkes would charge headlong right into the Glalie's waiting Ice Beam, this time hitting it full on and freezing him solid.
"FAWKES!" Josh would cry out in agony as the frozen Charizard would hit the ground in a block of ice. "Lightning, use Thunderbolt!" Josh would call out angrily. "Pika... CHUUUU!" Lightning would call, letting out a Thunderbolt that hit the Glalie and sent it scampering off, likely to regroup.
"Fawkes!" Josh would exclaim as he ran over, and would start pounding his fists on the ice. "Don't worry, I'm going to get you out!" He called to the Charizard encased in ice as he would, while futile, pound his fists as hard as he could, despite his own injuries, on the Charizard's icy prison, desperately trying to free him... He could see the flame on his tail starting to get smaller, and he would start hitting harder... No no no... Damnit, damnit...

Things were looking pretty fine for the moment; but one of the big PacMan-like ‘mons had managed to make it all crumble to hell; simply because one of the two Charizards was being such a hardheaded rock and simply refused to listen to his owner. “Fawkes, you idiot, what’re you doing, you’re going right into a—“ the female Charizard roared in her draconic tongue when the last remaining Glalie had caught the rushing Fawkes with a point-blank Ice Beam, trapping it in a block of solid ice. After a Thunderbolt had sent the last offender packing, the raven-haired Trainer then felt her balance suddenly shift, before watching as Josh suddenly rushed forward in order to attempt to hammer his Charizard out of the block of ice!
“You jackass!” was all the female Charizard could roar at the block of ice, before looking towards her Trainer for some confirmation. “Go, Ravvie. Fire Spin the block of ice, get it heated up! I’m searching for backup as we speak! Josh, get out of the way, I’m going to try to melt that chunk of ice!” Izumi shouted, searching frantically through the rest of the containment units that she’d brought along. She chanced upon the slumbering Gardevoir, but didn’t send her out—it wasn’t until she came across the other two did she notice that the other one was Yukime, her Eevee. “Nope, nope, not you… oh, come on!” she hissed, finally managing to fish out a particular containment unit and sending out its occupant; and watching as the flash of red light transformed into Arashi, her Typhlosion.
“Josh, I’m telling you, get out of the way! You’re only going to make the injury worse!” she hollered, hobbling through the slippery floor and attempting to yank and drag him away as the Typhlosion looked around and saw that there was a huge, unnaturally-shaped block of ice in the cavern. “Ara! Use Sunny Day, and then Flamethrower that block of ice! That’s a frozen Pokémon! Help Ravvie out!” she added, before the Typhlosion roared and a sudden blast of warmth ripped through the space—the Sunny Day had taken effect; before a steady stream of flames erupted from his mouth. there were now two Fire-types attempting to melt the solid chunk of ice that held the frozen Charizard within; and who knew what the frozen bipedal Fire-type was thinking right now…

Josh was trembling, his fists shaking, but he knew that he had to get out of the way or risk getting hurt as he would back away. The distress was evident in his face as the blonde would back up and allow for Izumi to send out her Typhlosion. Josh wasn't going to let her do this alone though. He was Fawkes's Trainer, he wasn't going to let Fawkes be stuck in there like this while he watched helplessly!
"GO, INFERNO!" Josh would cry out as he would bring his own Typhlosion out of his Pokeball. "Inferno! Help Fawkes before its too late! Use Flamethrower!" Josh would call as the Typhlosion would realize that his friend was in trouble. "GRAAA!" Inferno let out as he would join his family member in using the Sunny Day-buffed Flamethrower on the giant block of ice to try and thaw out Fawkes. Eventually, the ice would begin to crack from the heat. It wasn't long after that, that the whole thing shattered, freeing the Charizard who collapsed to the ground in a heap. Josh would rush to Fawkes's side and placed a hand on him, realizing that his skin was getting cold.
"Shit shit shit... That's bad" He whispered. Charizards were known for their hot skin, it was like a self preserving heating system that might be tied to their flaming tails. But if the heat was going down....
Josh's gaze turned to Fawkes's tail, and his eyes widened, his pupils shrunk. Fawkes's tail flame had grown small, it was going out!
"I-I-I-Z-Z-IZUMI!" Josh would suddenly scream out to Izumi, trembling. He was trying not to cry, but he was suffering a panic attack... He was going to lose Fawkes! "His tail! It's going out!" He'd cry out, shaking and trembling. "Lightning, Inferno, get the firewood out of my pack! Now!" Josh would bark toward his two Pokemon, who would quickly grab Josh's pack and start fishing out the firewood. "Quick, set it up like I taught you to just in case!" Josh would bark toward them as he would start trying to roll the Charizard toward the fire pit the two Pokemon were trying to make. "Good, good. Now, Inferno use Flamethrower on the firewood!" Josh would call. "GRAAA!" Inferno let out, unleashing Flamethrower, making them a decent campfire that Josh would manage to heave the dying Charizard next to.
Josh would feel the lukewarm temperature skin on the Charizard and tense up. "It's not enough. We need to warm him up and fast, or he's not going to make it!" He would reveal to Izumi and the Pokemon. Inside, Josh's heart was breaking. Sure, he was stubborn and mean sometimes... But Josh had raised Fawkes since he was a Charmander. He couldn't lose him... He couldn't die now!
Josh pondered how to warm him up... If he had a place to plug in a hairdryer or something, he'd do that, but they were in the middle of an icy cave. It may seem like a rip off of a show he once watched, but he couldn't think of another way to warm Fawkes up as he would rub his hands together, before starting to massage the rapidly decreasing temperature'd skin of Fawkes, trying to warm him up fast. Seeing what he was doing, Lightning and Inferno would join him. It was inevitable that as he warmed up, the lizards hot skin would burn his hands... But honestly, Josh didn't care. Fawkes's life was at stake, and he would do everything possible to save him.

Izumi could only watch in silent shock and wonder as he was starting to unravel—thankfully he still had enough sense to send out his own Typhlosion in order to assist with melting the huge block of ice that contained the trapped Charizard. Eventually, it shattered and freed its occupant—but there was something wrong—why was the flame on his tail going out?! “Oh, crap…” was all the raven-haired girl had time for, before hearing Josh’s rather loud panicky cries of pain. She could only stare as he sprung into action; and while the fire going was good and all done; why didn’t he think of literally bathing Fawkes in fire? her own Charizard looked towards her in confusion, before she held up a hand in response.
“Whoa… whoa there, calm down,” she began quietly, before grabbing his own hands away from rubbing all over the Charizard’s heated skin. “Watch it… I might not have enough supplies to treat you with…” she muttered with a bit of a dark look pointed his way. Seeing that there was now a warm fire going not too far from where they were located, she then nodded at her Charizard’s direction, before saying, “Please stand guard along with Arashi. I’ve got to treat this crazy man…” and then watched as her bipedal lizard lumbered off, followed by her own Typhlosion. She then reached for the small backpack that was sitting on one of her shoulders and began rummaging around, before finally retrieving a small, black box. “I’ve learned from Kouji to always have a first-aid kit on you. No matter where…” she trailed off, before slowly opening it and revealing the contents.
“Now, give me your hands. Hold them out… I have to treat them,” she began a few moments later, giving him a rather owlish stare. “Or would you rather wear those like a badge of pride or something more boorish than that?” she added with a rather flat stare, before raising her eyebrows in his direction. She wasn’t too entirely sure if Heal Pulse would work on a human (since the skill worked very well for Pokémon) so she’d decided not to let her Gardevoir out for the time being.

Sure, Izumi's confusion would have been logical if Fawkes was a Pokemon that had the Flash Fire ability. What Izumi would forget is that in battle, even if the Pokemon have the same type, an attack like Flamethrower is still going to deal damage to another Fire Type, especially a Flamethrower from a Pokemon like Inferno. It was quite obvious that Fawkes had very little strength left, and trying to attack it in an attempt to warm it up would likely only hasten Fawkes's death. No, he had to do this by hand. Luckily, he had Inferno and Lightning to help him. But they had to hurry...
When Izumi would grab his hands, he would tear them away instantly. "I. Don't. Care. Izumi" Josh would remark flatly, staring her down as he got to work. His hands were already starting to burn from the heat, and he would remove his gloves in order to keep them from melting, tossing them aside as he got to work using his bare hands. He knew he was going to burn them pretty bad.
"You can treat me when I'm done, or at least whenever I take a break. I know Heal Pulse works on humans too, if you have your Gardevoir with you, and if that doesn't do the job, my mother's treated me for serious burns before. I'm a Pokemon Trainer, I've been singed by Flamethrower attacks. It's part of the package. I appreciate your concern, Izumi... But Fawkes needs it more right now. I'm his Trainer, he's my responsibility, and making sure he lives is my job" He would speak softly, taking a breath as he kept working. "I can't let him die, Izumi... No matter the cost. I'll never forgive myself" He added, with a sigh.
The hours passed, and Josh still hadn't taken a break. Lightning and Inferno had given up due to the heat on their hands, and had taken a nap. Josh's hands were burning, singed like hell, but he didn't care. The pain had numbed by now, and he was running on adrenaline.
Josh let out a sigh, stopping for a moment to look at his hands. "If you're still able, Izumi, can you get your Gardevoir to use Heal Bell? Just so I can keep going without it burning through the skin. I've been lucky so far, but if I don't take any precautions, this could be dangerous, but I need to keep going" He said as he would wipe the dirt from his hands, wincing from the pain before he got back to work.
"Y'know... Did I ever tell you the story about how I met Fawkes?" Josh would ask her.

The raven-haired Trainer was just trying to help alleviate the obvious discomfort that her companion was experiencing, but as soon as she got her hands on his own injured digits, he’d yanked them away with a flat stare to match her own. “Pffff, fine. Have the flesh fall off your hands for all I care. Just don’t come crying to me when your hands are just about cooked,” she remarked, aiming a sharp rap to the back of his head out of sheer annoyance. I was just trying to help you! well, if you don’t want the help, fine with me too, you’re just being a colossal idiot, she thought with a glower in his direction as she quickly scooped up the small black box and zipped it shut, before standing up from her position and brushing off the snow that had stuck to her clothes.
“I’ll be checking the cave out for a bit,” she added with a huff, before leaving him alone at the fire; the better to be able to get her hot head cooled down a bit. Izumi knew that her two Fire-types were standing guard near the entrance; so she decided to wander a bit deeper into the cave, admiring the way the ice had stuck to the cave and gave it a rather unearthly glimmer. Just as she was about to turn around and head back to where the male hothead was currently trying to singe the flesh off his hands, she spotted a rock… a rather unusual-looking one, at that. “Hmm…?” she began, slowly and cautiously approaching it; before coming to a halt near it. it looked rather out of place; what was a beautiful-looking rock doing in a place like this?
Don’t touch it, don’t touch it, don’t touch it… she chastised herself in the back of her mind, yet there was a hand already outstretched and trembling, just about ready to touch the smooth surface of the boulder itself. Several moments later, her fingers came to brush across its surface; but instead of drawing back right away; the touch felt rather…odd.“That’s strange—“she trailed off; before looking around to make sure she wasn’t going to get snuck up on.
“Wait a second, don’t tell me this is…” she continued to mutter as she then remembered something that Kouji had told her about—how there were also two rocks that existed within the Nue region that served the same function as the Mossy and Icy Rocks that were located in Pinwheel Forest and in Twist Mountain back in his old home region of Unova, respectively.
Oh shit, I think I know what this one does! She thought as she then sent out her Eevee, Yukime; who then landed on the snow in a flash of red light. “Vee~?” she heard the male fox-like ’mon coo affectionately as he then tackled her leg; and she chuckled. “Yeah, I know… it’s been a while, Yuki—“she began, before watching a bright burst of light pouring out of her Eevee! “WHOA! What the hell?!” she shouted, quickly closing her eyes as the bright flash of light surrounded her Eevee and temporarily caused a burst of light to cut through the area. as soon as the lights show was over, she then blinked and looked down—but instead of seeing the brown fox-like cutie, she instead saw something that looked very much different—a lighter sort of blue; longer ears, and then…
“Glaaaae? Glaceon?” came the little trill—she then crouched down and saw that her Eevee had seemingly evolved after being exposed to the rock! “Yuki… ‘sthat you?” she asked with a bit of uncertainty as she crouched down near him; before the Galceon heard the familiar voice and then proceeded to rub himself all over her outstretched hand. “Who knew… ohhh, Yuki! Akari is so going to be very pleased when she sees you. Now there’s two of you,” she cracked with a grin; rubbing the very affectionate Glaceon’s head with her hand. “Come on, let’s go back to the nutcase…” she continued, letting the now Ice-type Eeveelution hop into her hands as she headed back with the purring Yukime in tow.
Apparently, she’d gotten back in time to hear him going on about something, before she settled herself down with the Glaceon in her hands; and then giving him a rather owlish stare once again. “You idiot, Momiji doesn’t have Heal Bell… I’m not sure if Yukime over here does, though… and no, I don’t know how you met Fawkes. Though I can guess your ‘mons and mine know the story… mind sharing it with me?” she continued with the same piercing glower she was now giving his way. her field of vision caught sight of his rather red, raw hands, but she knew he was going to be a complete wuss about having someone freak out over them, so she chose not to talk about it.

WORDS 825 TAGSJosh Dragomir NOTESOhhh, you made her mad!
Post by Josh Dragomir on May 2, 2015 13:31:11 GMT -5
Josh hadn't meant to upset Izumi via pushing her away like he had. He was in a state of panic, and was motivated to help Fawkes as much as possible. He had tried explaining the situation to Izumi, but the girl just didn't seem to understand. She needed to understand, he thought, that Fawkes's life was in grave danger, and he needed to do all that he could to save him, even if that meant causing pain to himself. He cared way too much about Fawkes, despite everything, to just let him die like this, and Izumi needed to realize that.
He knew she had left, but he thought he had heard her return when he had begun talking. He could almost swear Izumi had mentioned something about one of her Pokemon having a healing move before, but perhaps he had just imagined it. As much as he knew Fawkes needed his help, he knew that if he was going to keep working on it, he was going to have to help himself or he'd burn into the bone and possibly paralyze something, leaving him unable to help Fawkes at all. Josh would have taken Izumi's help when she tried to bandage him, but there was a simple explanation for that. The bandages would have just burnt off when he started again. No use wasting Izumi's time and resources. Unfortunately, he didn't have any Pokemon with healing capabilities on him. He really should have thought of it, he thought to himself... Lightning would tug on his sleeve and Josh would look over. Lightning held up the spray bottle of something he recognized. His mother had been working on a sort of healing potion that worked on Humans instead of Pokemon, as humans didn't have the same artificial healing possibilities as Pokemon did. It was still in the alpha stages... But it just might work...
Josh nodded a bit. "Inferno, please take over for me" He motioned to the Typhlosion who'd fallen asleep next to the fire. "... God damnit, Inferno" He muttered as he realized his Typhlosion was sleeping. Lightning would try and push the blonde away, and get to work himself. "Lightning, I don't think you can-" He paused. Lightning was still going to try. He'd nod, he'd need both his hands to fix himself up, and Izumi was too mad at him to help him right now. He'd take a breath as he sprayed each wounded hand...
"Ow!" He muttered. God, that stung! He'd watch as the burns would slowly go away and the pain would be gone. He didn't feel any change across the rest of his body though. Looks like it was only able to heal the sprayed body part. Sad, but it WAS only in alpha, he was surprised that it had worked at all! "Thank you mother" Josh would mutter before getting back to work. [Had to bullshart something as I realized mid-post I don't even have a Pokemon with an ally healing move]
Despite her being mad at him, Izumi had asked about Fawkes and Josh would take a breath. He didn't look at her, he was too busy with his work to do so. He'd try to find the words...

“Are you done being an immature little idiot, then?” she began with a huff from the side, watching as her Glaceon then hopped from her hold and began to circle around the perimeter; obviously not wanting to go too far from where they stood. She then chuckled slightly as she saw that Inferno had already conked out near the fire—and that Ravana and Arashi were still near the entrance to the cave where they’d ended up in—and still maintained her best attempts at what was a ‘withering glare’ since he’d brushed off her offer of assistance earlier.
“If you’re going to be a git, go do it somewhere else,” she mumbled, more to herself than to him as she then began to clench her fists and then started rubbing them together. “Well? What’re you waiting for? Where’s the story? Come on, speak up, I can’t hear you,” she continued in a much louder voice; yet the glowering anger on her face was beginning to soften somewhat; once she’d noticed that his raw hands didn’t look so raw anymore. That’s only a temporary fix. Gosh, if that Essence thing was real, then I’d always have some on me. But nope, arcane magic and Pokémon don’t exactly go too well together… she mused to herself, before her Glaceon came to a dead stop in front of the blonde man.
“Yuki, let’s give that Heal Bell of yours a try. Only, don’t aim it at any of the ‘mons, aim it at him. Yes, the man in front of you,” she remarked in a much softer tone; and a soothing chime then seemingly echoed throughout the cave—nothing too crazy or unpleasant while the Glaceon had adopted some kind of defensive stance. At that moment, some kind of warm energy then enveloped the blonde’s hands; and if he’d look at them, they were healed up to a better extent as compared to the rudimentary spray that he’d used earlier on himself. “Glaaaaae~” the ice-colored Eeveelution crooned out, before making his way back over to where his owner was seated, and then curling up right next to her.

Josh let out a sigh to her words. He felt his hands be healed properly from.. Heal Bell? Of course. He was right. Her Pokemon did know Heal Bell. She was just being a brat about it because she was mad at him. In his eyes, that was horribly cruel, to let someone suffer from burns like that just because of a squabble. He wasn't perfect, but he was hurting and she'd pretended to have a cure only to say she didn't. Honestly, that made him very upset at her. Still, she'd helped. Good enough. He'd remember that later though.
He stopped and looked at his hands, and looked back at Izumi, finally turning and placing his hands on her shoulders. "Look... I'm sorry, okay?" He whispered, leaning in and kissing her forehead as a sort of thanks for helping him at least. "I shouldn't have gotten snappy at you. But wrapping me up wouldn't have done anything, it'd have just melted when I started again and it would have wasted your time" He said, sighing as he stared into her eyes. "I can't waste any time... I can't. Fawkes needs me, Izumi... I can't let him die.." He spoke softly, biting his lip. "If I don't help him now... He's going to die, Zu... If trying my damn hardest to help him makes me an asshole, I'll deal with being an asshole... But if I let him die... I'll never forgive myself" He whispered to her. "I put him in harms way, and its my job to make it right. Its my job to protect my Pokemon... And if I let Fawkes die here... I don't deserve to be a Pokemon Trainer" He sobbed out, taking a breath. "I.. I... If I don't do my best to save him when he needs me... Then I am in no position to put my Pokemon in harms way again if I can't protect them... If I can't be there for them, and save them when they need me the most..." He said softly as tears started running down his eyes. "I... I can't let him die Izumi... No matter what happens to me... If he does, then I'm going home... And I'm never leaving it again. I don't deserve to be a Trainer again if I do..." He choked up, his hands shaky against her shoulders. "I have to get back to work... Thank you for fixing up my hands..." He whispered before going straight back to Fawkes to make up for lost time.
She wanted to hear the story? Alright. "Well... It began back when I was still a new Trainer in Hoenn. Y'know, a new full time Trainer. I was more like a civilian fighting for my life in Kotaku even if I was licensed. My real journey didn't begin until Hoenn" He would correct. "It was... Back when Lightning was still a Pichu and we were still fresh to Hoenn. I'd just finished my first trek into the Safari Zone, alongside some girl named Amber. Never actually saw her again" He'd add. "So I went back on my own since Amber wasn't there this time. Lightning and I walked through the tall grass together, and we ended up setting off the temper of a Charmander who'd been separated from his parents who'd been caught by another Trainer. He was rather young, but he attacked anyway. He was proud, he wanted to be a fighter obviously, and Lightning gave him a good fight. Eventually, Lightning won, and I caught the Charmander. Named him Fawkes. He turned out to be a really sweet Pokemon when you got past him wanting to fight, and wanting to become stronger. I promised I'd help him become stronger and he was the sweetest, most helpful loyal little Charmander I had ever seen. We always trained together, and protected each other, and he never disobeyed an order. I made a promise and he had faith in me. But one day, when we were in the Safari Zone again for more training, we ran into a Squirtle. Fawkes knew I wanted it on my team really bad and had been looking for one like crazy, so he got overzealous and attacked it without even waiting for my signal. He had good intentions, of course. He just wanted to make me happy and show that I could put my faith in him like he put his faith in me. The Squirtle fought back, and it missed. But I was going after Fawkes because I was worried about his typing and I got hit with the Water Gun the Squirtle shot, sending me into this large thorn'd plant. The first thing I felt was this massive surge of pain as it got through my clothing and stabbed hard into my flesh. I remember involuntarily letting out a screech in agonizing pain, and the look in Fawkes's eyes as he realized I'd gotten hurt. His eyes turned into a glare toward the Squirtle and even when I untangled myself, he wasn't listening to my orders as he went into this... Scary rage that possessed him to damn near kill that Squirtle. During that battle, he evolved into Charmeleon, out of rage. But it didn't help any. Eventually, Squirtle was down and I caught it, hurt and all. But something changed in Fawkes. Like he both blamed me and himself for me getting hurt. Like I wasn't capable of being depended on for fear I might get us both hurt, and wasn't able to handle the strength he'd gained. Perhaps he thought I was weak for getting hurt, and would only stand in the way of him getting stronger. Whatever it was, it festered into something that I'm sure he didn't intend. It was as if he hated me. Thought I wasn't capable of being his Trainer. He stopped listening to me. Only did in serious battles or situations where he knew that he needed to rely on me being his eyes from the ground. Otherwise... Well, you saw what happened" He said quietly, with a sigh.
"It hurt me. A lot. I mean, how would you feel if one of the Pokemon you cared about most suddenly started hating you? I tried... I tried so so hard to re-connect with Fawkes. But he just wasn't having it... It broke my heart" He spoke softly. Fawkes's eyes, out of Josh's view, would open, as he seemed to finally be awake, albeit weakly, as he listened to him. "During one of those battles, he evolved into Charizard. Still nothing. It only got worse... But I never gave up on him. And even though he's been selfish, and stubborn... He's still my Fawkes, and I'm not giving up on him. I will NOT let him die..." He spoke flatly, determined, no matter what to save that grumpy old Charizard. Fawkes stared at him for a moment... Seeming to be processing all of this. He started to remember their old times together... Times they had forgotten. The promise he had made. Everything Josh had done for it, even now, as it lay dying. He could have abandoned it... But he didn't. And he was hurting himself, badly, for Fawkes's sake...
The hours went on. Josh was still heavily at work. His hands were burning badly again. But hope had come the moment he saw Fawkes's tail flame beginning to get bigger. Hotter. More alive... It was working! It motivated him. Spurred him on... He would do whatever it took for Fawkes, for Josh to save his life!

Now that her rather dour mood had somewhat lightened, she then watched as the now-Glaceon then curled up and went to take a nap; while she inched herself closer to the fire—the better to be able to pay attention to the story that he was going to be unloading. To be perfectly fair, it was somewhat similar to what had happened between herself and her own Charizard—albeit with much less of going off into ‘cuckoo territory’ and more on flat-out disobedience from her Charizard’s part.
There were some subtle differences, though—instead of meeting Ravana in the Safari Zone, she’d picked her up via a special request that she’d run through via Kouji—it had something to do with a marble, if her memory served her right.
“Well… they can’t help it,” she began once he’d finished his tale (and had resumed trying to get the warmth back into the Charizard’s skin) and she was staring at the dancing flames that were crackling and flickering upon the logs. “Think about it this way—the way that Fawkes reacted, it was on instinct. You know how guard dogs go all bonkers whenever they see any visible, obvious threats to their owners? It goes the same way with Pokémon. They’ve got emotions just as much as we have—if not much more,” she continued, referencing her own Gardevoir at this point in time.
“I actually learned about it thanks to Momiji, you know… they’re much more sensitive to their owner’s feelings than they’d let on. That incident in the Zone must’ve set something off in Fawkes—the desire to get stronger to protect you—but at the same time it also made him quite a hard case,” she added with a faint smirk on her lips. “Sometimes we have to lay down the ‘law’ as it is… we just… have to be gentle in how we do it, kind of like positive reinforcement…” she added with a thoughtful look on her face.
“So. Are you ready to get your hands healed again, or would you rather not get that checked?” she asked him with a dead-serious look in her eyes a few moments later.

Josh took a deep breath and nodded as he listened to Izumi speak on it. "Yeah... I guess its just hard to believe it would... Manifest into what it did. I wonder how it came about or what he was thinking" As he kept working relentlessly. "Its hard, when you care so much about your Pokemon, and after all you've done for them, with them... They lash out at you as if they hated you. It broke my heart with Fawkes after all we'd been through. I just hope one day that... Well, whatever I did to him..." He can forgive me.
Fawkes would close his eyes, hearing every single word. Finally, Josh would look over at Izumi and nod as he took his hands off Fawkes. "Yeah... I'd appreciate if you could help me" He said. "Maybe an hour more of work should do it. Fawkes is looking much better now. If I keep going, he'll make a recovery" He said with a small smile. But she could tell the life was back in Josh after this news.

“You know,” she began with a thoughtful tone in her voice, “…if either one of us had an Alakazam, understanding what our ‘mons are thinking would be hella easier. Well, I have a Kadabra, but unfortunately I don’t seem to have brought him with me today,” she ended, searching through her jacket and coming up with three empty and one occupied containment unit. “I thought this was going to be just a short trip, but as it turns out, we’re going to be stuck here for a while…” she picked up a few moments later, looking around and just wondering where her two other companions had gotten off to.
“Yuki? Hey, Yuki,” she continued in a softer voice, “…don’t sleep yet. Crazy guy over there still needs your help,” she hissed, before gently poking the Glaceon his way. “Yuki, feel free to unload your Heal Bell on him as he asks you to. obviously, he’s still going to continue rubbing the hot skin with reckless abandon,” she added with a mischievous grin, before watching the Ice-type uncurl himself from his rather comfortable position on the cave floor and trotted over to where he was parked before unloading another application of Heal Bell towards the blonde-head.
“By the way, J, Heal Bell isn’t like Heal Pulse, you got it all wrong. The Bell version can get rid of status changes, the Pulse is basically your fix-it cure, which I’ll let Momo use on you later. I have to look for my Fire-types though, and see how bad the weather is outside,” she added with a smirk as she then stood up from where she’d parked herself and brushed off the snow that had stuck to her clothes. “Be right back,” she remarked before turning around and heading back out towards the entrance, the better to check up on her Typhlosion and Charizard.
It didn’t take too long, but the sound of footsteps echoed throughout the place—and eventually the raven-haired Trainer made her reappearance, flanked by a bipedal lizard who looked rather annoyed, before huffing rather angrily in her opposite’s direction and eventually sitting down some ways away, and a smaller, weasel-like Fire-type whose mane was crackling fiercely. “Well… I got some bad news. There’s a full-on storm raging outside. Kinda explains why Ara’s mane is burning a bit brighter than normal; not even their Fire-typing could stand the cold winds that were blowing by the cave entrance over there,” she began, pointing with her thumb over her shoulder at the cave mouth.
“Guess we’re stuck here for the night, at least,” she continued, before feeling her stomach twisting—and then rumbling. “Crap. Impromptu camping trip, much?” she muttered as she then settled herself back over on her spot, and then rubbing her hands together—why had it gotten much colder all of a sudden?
