It had come to Josh and Izumi's attention that there was an unexplored set of icy caves within a large mountain on the outskirts of Iceburgh. Why it had been unexplored, who knew, but some say that anyone who had tried had ended up never returning. And thus, never returned to map it out. News had reached the ears of two budding Trainers of course, being Joshua Dragomir and Izumi Yamamura. Neither of them could resist a little challenge, a chance to explore something new, something potentially dangerous. If they ran into trouble, they had brought teams capable of handling it.
Instead of what they did with their usual forays, Josh and Izumi had decided to travel there together this time. Josh had invited Izumi to ride with him atop his 8 foot dragon of a Charizard, Fawkes. The cold wind hit his face before long as they soared through the air. It was clear they were in Iceburgh. He would look back at Izumi with a small smile as Lightning, also sitting on Fawkes's back, stared up at them.
"Getting cold feet, Zu?" He would tease toward her.

“Are you crazy?!” she shouted over the rushing cold wind that was now whipping around them; the faster and further the Charizard that they were now currently seated on flew further northward—meaning, deeper into the colder nether regions of Iceburgh—a place seemingly eternally locked in winter. True, she was expecting the Ice-type gym to be located here, but a precursory inspection of the place several visits back proved that wrong.
Wow, who the hell can last out in this freezing cold?! She thought, quickly rubbing her hands and holding on to Josh’s back for dear life—she was normally comfortable with riding astride her Braviary’s back; but this was winter weather they were talking about here.
So the raven-haired Trainer finally seceded and allowed herself to get astride the Charizard’s back, but not without very nearly getting tossed and bucked off several times in the process. This Charizard reminds me of my own Salamence. Ultimately choosy with whoever rides on their backs… she continued to muse to herself—before catching sight of a Pikachu hat was evidently enjoying himself on the ride; she could only guess that Lightning loved to take rides like this pretty often.
“It’s better than taking the motorcycle from hell all the way out here,” she remarked sometime later, rubbing her hands together in order to keep them warm. Who knew that even if spring was now sweeping across Nue, winter still had a rather firm hold on the Iceburgh locale?!

"Yes!" He would respond to her first question with a big grin crossing his face, knowing this was just tormenting her. Actually, just to get at her, he would motion for Fawkes to fly even faster! "WOOOO!" He would call as the Charizard flew at top speed, Lightning hanging on for dear life as they flew through this northward tundra of a place. He could feel Izumi holding on as well for dear life to his back, chuckling as he would reach over, though keeping a hand on Fawkes to ensure he didn't fall, before smacking Izumi on the rear end, since Lightning was too busy hanging on to notice. Finally, Lightning gave up and climbed onto his Trainer, smuggling himself into his jacket since the blonde had mostly zipped it up for this trip.
"Oh really now?" He would ask when Izumi brought up the motorcycle, laughing. "Should I make him go even faster? Because I can do that" He would tease. He could see the mountain starting to come into view...

Okay, maybe that was a stupid question to ask; I mean, he’s naturally crazy. But did he get in the way of some funny mushrooms or something…? she thought as she then felt the Charizard lurch forward even faster; before she let out a scream of fright while hanging on as tightly as she could manage (without getting bucked off) as the flying flame lizard sped up. Was he literally doing this on purpose; or was he doing it just to tease the hell out of her?
She then caught a blur of yellow moving around; shifting as it switched from its initial position before finally settling down within its owner’s jacket—it was Lightning, the Pikachu. She could only shriek even louder as the Charizard sped forward; and his owner was now screaming his own head off—but out of delight, nor fright. Ooohh, you evil fiend! I’ll get back at you later for this once we’re back on the ground! she continued to muse to herself as she then screeched out her reply, “I-If you make Fawkes go even faster I’m going to conk you on the head if you do!” while still hanging on for dear fucking life!
She was very much used to her Braviary’s natural speed; and that was when she wasn’t asking him to hurry up! Her Salamence’s speed was something that she was still getting used to—but if there was something she was still not used to, it was sudden bursts of speed right from the very start!

Josh let out a laugh as Izumi's screams could be heard reverberating all around, from when he had sped up. It was obvious that she wasn't exactly happy with him deciding to have the big dragon speed up. Actually, he was surprised Fawkes had listened. He was a sort of bi-polar type. Sometimes he listened, sometimes he didn't. Something told him that the big fire breathing lizard just thought it would be amusing to speed up in hopes that it would make his second rider scream in fright, and the Charizard would let out a grunt and a puff of smoke that to Josh sounded like a hint of amusement on the Charizard's part. It was totally obvious that Josh (And even Fawkes) was doing this on purpose just to get at her. He couldn't help it, he loved teasing her, though he wouldn't bring her harm. He knew she had a death grip on him, she would be fine.
"Aww, Zu, can't handle a little bit of speed?" He would tease when Izumi would threaten him, turning and sticking his tongue out at her, funny that she hadn't even noticed that he had smacked her right on her ample bum. "Don't worry your pretty little head 'sweetcheeks', we should be there soon" He said, chuckling.

In response to the airborne Fire-type speeding up, her reaction was to scream and shriek some more. I am going to kill you once we get back on solid ground! She thought with a furious glare crossing her eyes; as she heard her companions whooping of delight echo all around. To be fair, she’d been scared stiff she’d missed the pinch that he’d tried to perform her way (plus how was that even possible, she was seated behind him, not in front of him) and in retaliation, she aimed another bonk to the side of his head.
“I-I swear the faster you go, the more I’ll elbow you once we’re down on solid ground!” she managed to hiss out before letting out another shriek. She preferred to cruise along in the skies at a sedate pace; but this speed was something else entirely. The raven-haired Trainer could only guess that he was doing this on purpose; because the more she asked him to slow down, the faster the Charizard flew through the cold air blowing across Iceburgh!
I am going to strangle you once we’re back down there! Just you wait! Coursed through her train of thought as she continued to hold on for dear fucking life!

"WOO!" Josh woop'd out in delight as Fawkes would speed up, just to tease Izumi some more. It was obvious he was having fun with tormenting her right now, and the increased speed (When he knew it was coming, anyway) didn't seem to bother him one bit. He'd noted she missed the pinch, but considering how freaked out Izumi was right now, he supposed he couldn't be that surprised over it. He had done it via reaching over, since she was sitting right behind him and probably holding onto him for support to keep from falling off the fast moving Charizard. Izumi's complaints fell on deaf ears, though he did laugh in response knowing she was hating him for it!
"Alright, it's up ahead, Fawkes. Slow down" Josh said to the Charizard. The game was up for now and his breathing relaxed as he would change to a brisk pace. "It's just below us, Fawkes. Take us down" He said, but as the Charizard would begin to swoop down, something else would come from below them.
"Hey... What is-" He began, but before he could say it, an Ice Beam would suddenly erupt from the Glalie that had shown up from nowhere below them, hitting Fawkes in the right wing and sending him into a tailspin. "WHOA! HOLD ON!" Josh would call as he would hang on for dear life, using his legs to stay on the Charizard while holding onto Lightning to ensure the little electric mouse didn't fall. "IZUMI, HOLD ON, WE'RE GOING TO-"
Josh would wake up later, feeling Lightning shaking him awake. "Pika... Pika!" Lightning would cry out. "Pika.. CH-"
Josh would stop Lightning instantly as his cheeks sparked, grabbing his paw. "L-Lightning... I'm awake, don't worry.." He let out weakly as he would prevent the Pikachu from zapping him. "Where are we?" He would ask as he would sit up, looking around. It seemed that the Glalie had caused them to crash into the top of an ice cave, and he had passed out on the collision. He would note Izumi, wherever she was nearby as they had crashed in the same place. "Hey Izumi, you alright?" He would ask, going over to her, before looking around and noticing an injured Fawkes who was grumbling in the corner as he nursed his frozen wing. "Fawkes!" Josh let out as he would nod in Izumi's direction, meaning to talk in a moment before rushing over to the Charizard. "You're hurt..." He whispered softly, trying to touch the wing, but Fawkes would slash at him, causing him to jump back before he could be hit. "Fawkes! Come on... Let me look at you..." He would complain.

She was still hanging on to him for dear life, screaming many colorful profanities in his direction at the top of her lungs—when the joyride was suddenly cut short. She’d briefly recognized the beam that had suddenly come up from the ground, and knew that it was an Ice Beam attack—and that it had cleanly hit the soaring Fawkes’ wing! Izumi could hear the wind shrilly picking up, and Josh was shouting something her way—but it was lost as the two were rapidly coursing down from the sky to come up for a landing in white!
The raven-haired girl had begun to formulate what he’d failed to get out; but it was too late—as the flying Fire-type came in for an extremely unceremonious landing that had caused her to fly off from where she was seated, sailing through the air and landing in a rather comical-looking sprawl; but the comical landing also had its side-effects. “Ooohhh, ouch,” she muttered, her mouth half-filled with the slush that was the snow she’d accidentally swallowed. Seeing that her body had been scrunched up into an unfamiliar position, her legs were wiggling comically in mid-air before she’d finally managed to gain her bearings again.
“Ugh, hell…” she groaned, before finally managing to get herself into a more comfortable position and finally seeing that Lightning was now trying to shake his owner awake. “Oh, crap,” she hissed as she stumbled forward, the better to be able to tend to his injuries—if he had any. “Hey, J, y’okay?” she asked, spitting out the rest of the slush in her mouth before running her tongue against her teeth—why did the snow taste like that anyway?“Is… is Fawkes going to be fine?” she added with a tone of concern, seeing that the Charizard was now acting all snappy and volatile.

Josh would look back to see Izumi was alright and nod over at her. "You haven't seen him like this yet, have you?" He would inquire toward her. "He's always a bit of a grump, and sometimes doesn't listen to me. This is just another of those blasted times. He never lets me help him, he never trusts me. He only seems to see me as someone who leads him to battle where he does the rest on his own" He would reveal with a sigh. He would turn and try to tend to Fawkes's wing again, but this time the Charizard had simply had enough. His claws would glow green and he would slash toward his Trainer, who with surprising agility and reflexes would jump back, dodging the attack, before the Charizard would slash at him again. "Fawkes, calm down!" Josh would command firmly, but the Charizard wouldn't listen, and would aim a slash at his Trainer, only for when he dodged, to slam him with the other claw, sending the blonde flying into the icy wall, hard. "GUH!" Josh let out as he hit the wall, sliding down, frozen in pain.
"Pika-Pi!" Lightning cried out as he would turn to Fawkes. "Pika..." He hissed, his cheeks sparking. "Wait, Lightning..." Josh let out weakly with a pained groan as Fawkes would continue to nurse his wing. "It's... It's okay... I'll be okay... It's not his fault..." He let out weakly as he managed to get to his feet before looking over at Izumi and hobbling over to her in obvious pain. "He's been like this since the end of his run as a Charmander... I don't know what happened, but I got put in harms way while he was battling a Squirtle I tried to catch. He was such a sweet little Charmander, too... But then I got knocked into thorns by a water gun that happened to hit me instead of Fawkes, and Fawkes just... Lost it. He went into a blind rage, evolved, and took the Squirtle down. But since then... It's like he doesn't trust me. He doesn't trust my judgement, most of the time doesn't listen to me in battle besides rare occasions, like the battle with Ravana. And he'll go absolutely wild and attack another Pokemon or person without me saying a word if he gets angry. And sometimes he'll even attack me, as you see here" He said softly, closing his eyes and staring at the ground as he would lean against her.
"I... I just want him to trust me. It's like he doesn't respect me, or even like me anymore... I raised him as a Charmander, and then he just... Turned around and started acting like this. I hate it..." He said quietly, obviously quite upset about the whole situation. "He won't even let me help him... It's like he doesn't trust my judgement to be the best thing for him... But... I do think my judgement is the best for both of us, and the rest of our team... I just want to help Fawkes accomplish his goals of getting stronger... I know he's very prideful and he likes becoming strong, but.. I can't help him because he won't let me in" He said quietly, gritting his teeth in pain from the blows.

She could only watch in shock as the scene before her unfolded—with the way that the Charizard had reacted, suddenly lashing out with a Dragon Claw and watching as her companion had barely avoided it; before the Charizard continued with a Slash and slugged Josh right into the icy wall—the one where she’d fallen! “J!” she shouted, hobbling over as best as she could and helping him up, before shooting the disobedient Charizard a withering glare. “Lightning! Keep an eye on Fawkes for me, will you?I got to tend to your master over here,” she began, gesturing to the taller Trainer that she was now holding up on her free shoulder.
She then struggled slightly under his weight, because her left hand was holding him up—and her right hand was busy searching through her jacket, before she finally found the containment unit that she’d brought along with her. Initially, she was hoping that this would be a quick trip—but with the way they’d crashed into the side of the mountain, they’d very likely have to spend the night here at least; the better for her to be able to patch up his injuries. Thankfully, I brought Momiji with me… she thought, before popping the white containment unit to full size.
“I… I think I have a solution to your problem…” she continued, before chucking it as best as she could and watching as the flash of red light emerged… before forming itself into a similar-looking Charizard that landed in the snow with a loud howl before breathing a blast of fire into the cold sky.
“Hello, Ravvie,” she began, and watched as her sCharizard turned around to face her before tilting her head rather inquiringly at him. “Can you… uhhh, how the hell am I going to say this… can you go check out Fawkes for us? I mean, you’re also a Charizard. Perhaps he’d listen to you, seeing as you guys are the same…” she asked her own bipedal flying Fire-type, who huffed around for a few moments before slowly approaching Izumi and bumping her large body against hers, sending a jarring shock through her (and consequently, Josh). “Whoa, girl… take it easy there… but, yeah. Can you? Please?” she inquired again with a hopeful, pleading look in her eyes. Her own Charizard snorted for a few moments, before nodding, and slowly turning around to approach the other Charizard who was in the middle of throwing a hissy fit.
If Josh hadn’t noticed it yet, there was one distinct way to tell her own Charizard apart from his: her Ravana had a stylized, black-leather choker band wrapped comfortably around the Pokémon’s neck; and in the middle of the neck band, a marble was mounted. It was the bluish-black marble that she’d found back in the Kalosian Badlands, and it glimmered faintly as the female Charizard then cautiously approached the male one; testing the waters. “If it gets too hairy, back off right away, okay?” Remember our temper lessons, Ravvie. We’re still learning, so be careful, all the same,” she addressed her Pokémon; before turning to Josh once more.
“If you can’t approach him, have a fellow Charizard come closer. It should work,” she said with a reasonable tone in her voice, continuing to watch her… rather large Charizard. She knew that Ravana was bigger than most of her species—and that upon evolution, she’d suddenly grown to what appeared to be a much larger size than normal Charizards of her species.
Was it a genetic thing too, like how Arashi and his siblings had increased size and musculature? She really couldn’t tell, but at this point she was hoping that the male Charizard wouldn’t lash out at Ravana…

"Urgh..." The blonde would mutter in pain from the dragon claw attack. It was not often that Fawkes flat out attacked him, but it still hurt all the same. Fawkes was a very strong Charizard, possibly one of Josh's strongest. But he had a fiery temper that Josh couldn't control, and this was evident by what was going on right now. And honestly, the way Fawkes didn't listen, didn't respect him... Hell, didn't even see to like him, broke his heart. He had raised Fawkes since he was a little Charmander that was separated from his pack after losing his mother. Josh had taken him in, raised him, trained him and helped him fulfill his dreams, but somewhere along the way, Fawkes had seemed to forget... He had become selfish and grumpy and refused to listen to him, especially when he was angry. Josh always wondered... What had he done? Sometimes he listened... But usually when it was out of necessity. Otherwise, Fawkes was hopeless.
Josh would nod as Izumi would bring out her Charizard, Ravana. He hadn't realized Ravana had evolved, and she had grown to be quite big... Quite similarly to Fawkes, who was around 8 feet tall, much bigger then the average Charizard, as far as he knew. But what caught his attention was the thing on its neck... Just ike the one Yumi had on her Charizard. And that was when it hit him... Izumi had mastered mega evolution without him knowing. He nodded faintly...
He would blink as Ravana bumped Izumi into him, but shrugged it off as he watched Ravana make her way over to Fawkes, who would look over at her, then look away in a grumpy huff.

“Are you seriously okay?! Come on, let’s get out of here before the snow comes down even further and we get stuck out here. We need to find a cave and take cover!” she began, listening to the sound of the wind—it was definitely beginning to howl and roar. She then shot a furtive look over at where the two Charizards were now having a stare-down at each other; and it was a shame she couldn’t pick out what the hell was going on with Ravana, more so with Fawkes. Over at where the two Charizard were now standing, trapped in a face-off, the female one then gave a huff before watching as the male of her species then turned away; wishing to be left alone.
“Ravvie, do your best,” she heard her Trainer call out; and looked to see that her owner was now supporting the blonde-haired human up on her shoulder, before slowly hobbling away in order to find shelter. “Don’t stay out too long. I have a bad feeling about this weather…” she added in her Charizard’s direction, before continuing on with, “Follow our footprints,” and then slowly but surely hefting up the taller man in her arms before beginning to cut a slow path through the deepening snow. “Lightning, can you stay with them and make sure they follow us?” she requested in the Pika’s direction, before she began looking around for shelter that they could duck into for the meantime.
The female Charizard then attempted to converse with her counterpart, by huffing out smoke and then growling, “What happened to you, why are you acting like such a brat? Can’t you see that your owner is concerned for you? Come on, you weren’t like this when we had that sparring session back at where we live…”

Josh would nod over at Izumi in thanks, as well as to her suggestion when she would start supporting her on his shoulder. "I'll be fine. Just need to get my bearings back" He said, cracking his neck. "I've taken worse blows before, I promise. Just have to relax for a moment, and I can walk on my own" The blonde would promise, looking over at Izumi. "But I agree, we need to get out of here before this place caves in, or worse, that bloody Glalie comes back" He would add. "I wouldn't be surprised if this was it's home that we happened to fly near"
Lightning would nod to Izumi's instructions as Izumi would lead Josh away. It was obvious the Pikachu didn't want to be separated from his Trainer, but he had to make sure that everyone got out safely. Finally, Fawkes would growl before looking back at Ravana, then speaking in his Charizard-ific tongue. "He's incapable of being responsible for the well beings of us both. I realized that a long time ago, and so I act of my own accord to do what is right for all of us" Fawkes would speak.
Lightning would pipe up, fuming. "You big liar! You don't respect him and think he can do what's best for you because when you were a Charmander, he got caught in the middle during one of your battles and got hurt! You try to be all prideful and tough, but you're really just a big softie who doesn't want your Trainer getting hurt! But all you're doing from being all grumpy is hurting him!"
The Charizard would let out a puff of smoke, ignoring the Pikachu and starting to make his way out of the cave behind the Trainers, bad wing and all. Lightning would follow along.

“You’re acting like a spoiled little brat… and here I was thinking I had the badder temper between the both of us,” Ravana began, after letting Lightning and Fawkes have that rather…sublime exchange. “Look, why were you so deeply in sync with Josh when we sparred against each other; you in that big, glorified form and me in a younger body? I know you wanted to take it out so bad—to be honest, so did I. But look at it this way: it takes a lot of courage to admit that something’s eating you,” the female Charizard began in a more…subtler-sounding growling voice; before looking at the Pika and then turning to talk to this one instead—she knew that her mistress held such high regards for the Lightning Mouse, and that he was a better source of answers.
Once the female Charizard flapped her wings once and let out another bellowing roar, she then turned to face the Pikachu, before beginning to ask about Fawkes. “Was he really this bad the first place? I know that I get what you were trying to point out earlier, but... does he really get so infuriated so easily?” the female Fire-type began, lumbering alongside the Pikachu, who was now following the male version of herself out of the cave, nursing its injured wing. “Why is he acting like a big baby… it’s all about give and take, give and take… but he’s giving your master one hell of a headache,” she continued in the same growling, draconic voice before looking up ahead to check that the male Charizard was still in the middle of what appeared to be a hissy fit.
Farther upward where the two humans were currently walking (rather, one was supporting the weight of the other) Izumi then turned towards Josh before looking at him with a concerned glint in her eye. “You sure that he’s going to be alright? I heard someone roaring back down the passageway,” she remarked, before turning around and squinting down into the darkness—she could hear lumbering footsteps and growling, but she wasn’t sure if the growling was her Charizard or his. Either way, she then shook her head before turning around and continuing to lumber forward, still supporting the taller Trainer’s weight on her shoulder.

Fawkes wouldn't even dignify Ravana with an answer. Instead, he would just keep walking with a huff toward Izumi and Josh, presumably where he thought the exit would be. When Ravana would go to the Pikachu instead as they walked, the Pikachu would let out a sigh.
"Honestly, Fawkes wasn't always like this. As a Charmander, he was really sweet. I mean, he was trying to act like a proud warrior, and maybe he was one, when we battled. We battled Fawkes together when I was a Pichu and he was a wild Charmander, and he caught him after I managed to take Fawkes down. But Fawkes was a really nice little Charmander, who never disobeyed my Trainer's orders. And then that battle with Bastilo, who was a wild Squirtle at the time, came along. Fawkes really badly wanted to battle despite the type advantage, and Josh let him" He said, his first time speaking his Trainer's name to another Pokemon, but he'd heard it so many times that it had registered with him by now what his name was. "So during the battle, Fawkes got riled up, and then when Josh tried to step in to help him, Bastilo fired a shot meant for Fawkes that hit Josh instead, and it sent him into a score of really sharp thorns. They messed up his back really bad, tore up his clothing, left deep gashes all over his body. Fawkes saw that and he just... Lost it. He attacked Bastilo with a fury, and ended up evolving during the battle, taking Bastilo down enough for Josh to get his bearings and catch him, not once listening to Josh's instructions. I think what happened is... Fawkes doesn't think Josh is capable of making the right choices for both himself and Fawkes. He doesn't respect him as his Trainer anymore. I mean... He means well. But he's so damn PROUD. He's a warrior. He thinks that if he listens to Josh, then Josh will get hurt again, and Fawkes might get hurt too and not be able to protect him. Sometimes, during a trainer battle, for example, or during something really dangerous, he might swallow his pride and listen, although that goes out the window if he gets angry because even Josh can't control him... But Fawkes just... Doesn't have any faith in him. And I think that's started to simmer and make him bitter toward him, thus why he actually up and attacked him. It's turning into a dislike, out of his pride, and it's getting worse. And he's too proud to realize that Josh just wants what's best for him... I know he can do what's best for us all, but Fawkes... Doesn't believe that. His good-willed acting for himself on his own merits to protect himself and Josh is admirable... But it's turned into something that's made him so... Grumpy and bitter. Still, I know he has a heart inside. He's an anti-bully. If you steal from one of the babies on the ranch, he's going to beat the crap out of you. If you attack Josh, he'll destroy you. But he's become so bitter and prideful it's... Scary. I know the real Fawkes is in there, but... He's hidden it"
Meanwhile Josh would look back, still being supported by Izumi. "They'll be fine... I have faith in them" He said with a small smile. That was until they heard a noise coming from up top...
"What is.." Josh began, but suddenly the ceiling would be smashed, and the Glalie from before would float down. "GLALIE!" It would roar angrily, seeming to think they were invading it's territory. "Lightning! I need your help!" Josh would call. "Pika-Pi!" Lightning would let out as he would dash toward his Trainer, the loyal little mouse, just as Glalie would fire an ice beam toward Josh. "Gah!" He let out as it was about to hit him and Izumi both, but he would find... It never hit. Standing in front of them was Fawkes, injured and all who had fired a Fire Spin to block it. Fawkes would let out an angry roar... It seemed he knew full well that Glalie had shot him down before, and he wanted revenge!
