Shui.
This was a change of pace—for once, at least, Kouji had decided to take some time off and let his assistant deal with all the breeding requests that would be tossed their way; as they were still in the middle of searching for a place where they could settle down and re-establish the rather expansive Ranch that they’d already gotten going over in Humilau. It was a bit of a shame that he was going to miss Unova—and Kanto for that matter—but since Nue did offer the promise of even wider stretches of land and more available resources that he could easily pull for the place he was operating, he’d decided to check out all of the cities. So far, though, he hadn’t found one place yet that “called out” to his liking. Besides, where the actual hell am I going to park the entire crew? I’ve got not just my own “collection” to worry about; I’ve also got almost a hundred or so “extra boarders” to contend with! He thought, shuffling around the streets of the mountain city.
Everywhere he looked, it was like something out of the history books—instead of seeing skyscrapers and all the concrete cutting lines against the skyline, here he was in a place that had majestic buildings built from solid hardwood, reinforced to withstand any kind of weather. Everyone here wasn’t too privy on wearing jeans and a shirt, they were all wearing this weird kind of “robes” that were apparently piled on them a certain way—every single individual he’d seen so far had the left side over the right; and he still couldn’t understand why. He definitely stuck out like a sore thumb, and then decided to beat a hasty retreat towards the Pokémon Center of the area; hoping that he didn’t stick out too much. Already people were starting to look at him; primarily because of the clothes he had on—but a secondary reason was that he was also ashen-haired, something that was definitely not common in these parts. He couldn’t understand their local “dialect” yet, but he would… in time. For now, he was hoping to see a familiar face in an unknown land…

Shui, huh?
The blonde rode just slightly over Shui's "streets" on his Charizard, Fawkes. The abnormally large and muscular Charizard looked around at this unknown environment, clearly curious. On his back was, again, Josh Dragomir. A Pokemon Trainer from the Kohaku Region that had set out on his journey quite some time ago. There were no streets here. No roads. Not even skyscrapers. Instead, they were smaller, majestic buildings that looked like they came out of a Japanese animated show. The buildings popped out at them as if they were in a pop up book, and the civilians were incredibly unique. Gone were shirts and jeans and shorts that were comfy and easy to wear. In were robes and kimonos, all worn a certain way. Josh, of course, stuck out like a sore thumb in nearly all-black garb, with the black jacket, pants, shoes, gloves... And then the blue shirt, and the blue scarf. He couldn't drive his motorcycle through here, unfortunately. It was all waterworks for getting around. Instead, he had decided to fly around it as a substitute using Fawkes. The Charizard was used to carrying his Trainer around on his back, so it was no issue. Beside Josh sitting on Fawkes's back was his partner, Lightning, a Pikachu with a blue scarf around his neck. The scarf seemed to almost... Gleam for some reason from the inside. As if the Thunderstone that was hiding within was bracing itself for it's fate.
Josh's family had expressed a desire to move to a new region, to Nue... To set up the ranch. Josh's mother felt she could expand her business and earn a bit more money, and hold more Pokemon if they found a bigger territory in a more undiscovered region. And this was what Josh was looking for. Unfortunately, his search had yielded empty results so far. He had hoped that maybe he could find a good place nearby a city, like Shui, so he'd decided to take a break here after having been searching for quite some time.
Unfortunately, everywhere he looked, he got just that. Looks. He was obviously a stranger, a visitor... And he was incredibly uncomfortable with the looks people were giving him. He stuck out like a sore thumb. Finally, the Charizard would land in front of the... Rather unique looking Pokemon Center. Josh and Lightning would hop off, and Josh would slide the door open, with Josh, Lightning and even Fawkes ducking inside.
As they looked around, Josh noticed a familiar face.
"Kouji, is that you?" Josh asked, tilting his head as he called to him. Usually, he never left his ranch!

By this time, Kouji had slipped on his reading glasses, and was about to extract the copy of the newspaper that he was reading earlier when he heard a familiar voice calling for his attention. As he looked up, there was quite the large Charizard looming over him, seeing as there were several Pokémon who had approached him. It’s definitely not Enzo, because that guy is just… huge. Hey, wait a second… he thought as he backtracked at the sound of the voice. It was definitely not Yumi’s, because this one sounded a bit gruffer and tumble. As his mind finally clicked into place, he then realized who it was!
“Hey there, S—Josh,” he began with a genial smile and a two-fingered salute, quickly stowing away the paper back into his jacket. He’d very nearly slipped, calling him “scruffy” right within hearing distance! Duh! Stupid Kouji! Don’t call one of your preferred clients that! Utter lack of manners and respect! I blame the assistant for this… he thought to himself before mentally smacking himself and making space on the bench where he was currently seated.
“So how’re things?” he began, inviting the just-as-tall, blonde-headed client to come sit beside him so that they could talk. Already, Kouji could tell that the people gathered in the Center were outright gawking at Josh, simply because his client had blonde hair—he’d heard in some whispering on the streets that there were rarely yellow-haired individuals found in the Shui locale. “I’m still looking for a place to settle down. It’s hard, looking for the exact plot of land that can accommodate more than a hundred and fifty individual souls… oh and by the way, I ought to let you know. Inferno might have another couple of brothers and sisters running around in the near future,” he said, adding in the last sentence as an afterthought.
“How about you, found a nice place to settle down at yet? It’s hard looking for a locale that fits your every need… my assistant is currently scouting out other places, trying to find ‘the one place for us’ but so far, nothing,” he continued with a sigh as he set his hands on his knees, before placing his chin in his own cupped hands, looking a bit concerned.

He knew it. That WAS Kouji. His regular supplier of eggs and other things, introduced to him by Izumi because he had a wishlist that toppled hers, and a Pokemon list that might make Yumi begin to sweat.
"I'm great" he said with a smirk as he took the seating invite from the only other (seemingly) blonde besides him in the whole fucking city. Seriously, the looks they were getting were starting to annoy him. Actually, they were starting to annoy the Charizard too, who instead of sitting down like Josh and Lightning did, looked around and met anyone who gave them stares... Stares right back. Nobody wanted to have a staring contest with Mega Charizard without the Mega Stone or the black coloring.
"Agh, I hear ya...." He said, scratching his beard. "Seriously. Folks wanna move the ranch somewhere in Nue. But where the FUCK are you gonna find a plot of land big enough to hold all these Pokemon?" He asked.
Post by Kouji Sakuraba on Dec 8, 2014 5:29:46 GMT -5
Kouji could only chuckle as the Charizard had seemingly picked up on all the outright gawking and staring that they were getting, and then decided to have someone stand by this Charizard to help avert the stares. Plucking out a containment unit and then sending out his Gallade, Rymista, who then unfurled himself as he came into existence after the burst of red light, he then gestured to his Gallade, “Stand guard for us with that Charizard, will you? Talk with him if you can. I know you guys can understand each other… or something along those lines…” he said, before gently waving the Gallade to stand beside the Charizard, who was now looking positively huffy at all the people looking at Josh. The Gallade then crossed his own arms and began to stand guard, as he was asked to, therefore deterring some of the more insecure people who were still staring at them. Over at where the two were now conversing, Kouji could only sigh, being reminded of his own frustration of being unable to find a nice place to settle down.
“We’re talking how many on your end? I have… let me see… close to a hundred, no thanks to my benefactor. Plus fifty-something odd souls I’m taking care of; plus the Aquarium babies that I’m holding on for Miss Caulfield—and that’s around thirty or more Water-types, not counting the two Wailord that I’ll be receiving in a couple of days, and then there’s also this… Thaddeus siblings’ Pokémon… but it’s less than twenty, considering that the sister chose to recently have her own non-performing Pokémon graze over at my place… so I know how you feel. If you can give me a number of ‘mons that you’re taking care of, I’ll see if I can find a place… big enough for your own army…” he said in one go, mostly thinking out loud, his brows furrowed. He didn’t realize that he’d said it out loud until his mind kicked in a few seconds later… and he then promptly smacked himself on the forehead for doing so. “Oops. Sorry there, Josh. I was just thinking out loud…” he began with an extremely sheepish look on his face. “But…yeah. Did the Fire Lady—that’s Izumi if you don’t know—mention anything to you about her little ‘size’ problem with all the ‘mons she has?”
He was now thinking of something… if one listened closely enough, they might’ve sworn that they heard the gears turning in his head as he began brainstorming ideas.

Josh couldn't help but chuckle a bit when he looked over at Fawkes, who was playing bodyguard against the staring folks. Even moreso when Kouji would decide to bring out his Gallade to join the Charizard in the staring contest with the local folks. The Charizard would look over at the Gallade for a moment, seeming to consider if he was actually helping him or just mocking him. In the end, he didn't care which, and didn't feel like Flamethrowering the Gallade today, so he would assume he was helping him as his Master had told him to.
"I have.... Ugh, I don't know" he said, scratching his head as he listened to Kouji name off several sources of Pokemon. "For me alone... Maybe 120, 130? More or less? And then there's my parents Pokemon. Both of them were hotshot Trainers back in their hayday, and my father was actually the Champion of the region we came from, yknow before the whole mutant thing started and the League was rendered obsolete" he said with a casual shrug. He didn't know if he'd mentioned just how good of a Trainer his father was to anyone before... Just casually mentioned he was a Trainer. "The Pokemon he didn't take with him when he disappeared..." he began, again, he hadn't told Kouji about this before, but he would explain later perhaps. "... Were kept at the ranch, and still are. They seem to be enjoying retirement, as are my mother's Pokemon" he explained. "Then there's the Pokemon they research, there's the younger Pokemon that come from their breeding service... And then there's the wild Pokemon that wander onto the territory and either stay temporarily to socialize and be fed... Or they just don't bother leaving and they become a part of the community in a way. Since we're moving, mom's been trying to track down the wild ones and just kind of... Yknow, give them a choice. Either they can leave the ranch and go back to the wild before we move, or they can go with us to the new ranch in a Pokeball, as one of her Pokemon. By what I saw before I left though, the more preferred one seems to be getting caught. A lot of them have made a home at the ranch, and don't want to leave it" he said with a shrug.
To his offer, he shrugged, laughing a bit when he apologized. "I'd appreciate if you could help us out" he admitted sheepishly, scratching his head. "Nah, Fire Lady hasn't told me" he admitted.

Kouji could only let out a whistle as Josh began to count off just how many he had to deal with, as well. “Looks like we’ve got a perfect problem on our hands… combining your number, plus mine and hers, along with that Thaddeus girl’s… crud, we’re running close to three hundred, three hundred fifty at the most. Looks like this is going to be quite an issue,” he continued, before he reached into his pocket and then withdrew a note pad; he’d also been taking to some of his benefactor’s habits lately, like carrying around an extra source of paper whenever he needed it. He then began scribbling something on it, while he tried to think of the perfect solution to their perfect problem.
“My assistant, you know the purple-haired one with the funny accent? He’s been scouting out locations for me—and I’ve been doing the same too—but so far we haven’t found a nice, large-enough plot of land to contain the vast number we have between myself and the Fire Lady… and there’s also problems, like, where are we going to put the canyon for the Dragons—Dergans, if you may—and the caves for the Ground-types. Bosky is going to be really crowded at this point, since most of the other Breeders are moving over there…”
While the two humans were talking, the Gallade then decided to attempt to speak with the Charizard—even if the Fire-type looked quite standoffish at first. Eventually, the Gallade would speak up—and began a story about himself, he various weird things that had been going on ever since he began journeying with his caretaker, how he was on a path to get stronger—and it had ended with the little fact that he’d stumbled upon a marble-sized rock that was throbbing with power the moment he touched it.
He’d also added that the power felt familiar, even if he didn’t know what was causing the wellspring of power to tap into his own psyche. He could only shrug, and continued to give the few passersby a withering glare, as best as he could manage. He was hoping that the Charizard would open up or having at least listened to his own tale…
Back at where the two humans were talking, Kouji then felt his pocket vibrating, which caused him to look up before apologizing. “Sorry, let me take this call. This is most likely the assistant,” he said with a sheepish grin on his face, before sliding the phone’s home screen open and then talking into it. “You—you what? Are you saying you found the place?” he began, and listened to the heavily accented voice of his assistant on the other end. After several moments of silence, he continued, “Well, can you try to factor in another hundred twenty… hundred thirty more ‘mons at the most? Because I’ve got Josh here with me and he also has a space problem,” he said, before quickly holding the phone away from his ears; because right at that moment the assistant had sworn so loudly it caused the signal to crackle for a few moments. As he listened to the indignant spluttering of his assistant on the other end, he then decided to turn it on to “Speaker Mode” for the benefit of his companion.
“So y’er sayin’ that Scruff—err, Josh is tha’? Hi,” the accented voice of the purple-haired assistant began over the line, before quickly catching himself and continuing, “So I was look’n aroun’ the area, an’ I think I got th’ ans’er to y’er proble’, I’m all th’ way in th’ Wilds now, an’ judgin’ from the sheer size a’ this place, I can’t say why no’,” he continued, while waiting for the two on the other line to answer—he was at the place which the citizens of Nue called “the Wilds” and frankly speaking, it really was huge. The landscape was very much varied as well—something they were all looking for. “I kno’ tha’ th’ craggy valley an’ th’ caves would’a be import’d from Humilau, bu’ this place I’m at is just perf,” he added, taking a deep breath and looking around at the scenery—because it really was just that beautiful. “I thin’ tha’ space would’a be th’ least ‘a our prob’s, since it’s jus’ so huge ‘ere,” he added a few moments later, just taking a look at the pristine, untouched grounds. He was now wondering on just how to get a ranch of that magnitude settled here… when he suddenly got an idea. “’Ey, Josh, I gots an idea,” he began.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Dec 10, 2014 2:03:48 GMT -5
Josh laughed a bit, scratching his head. "Yeeeahh... That's a lot of Pokemon" he said, letting out a sigh. What were they going to do now? They both had lots of Pokemon... There couldn't be enough land anywhere, could there? "Yeah... I'm out here doing the same thing your assistant is" he said with a laugh. "Scouting for land. I'm actually on my way to Boskey after this stop to do what I came here for as well, besides just scouting the place. I've got a nice to-do list, but my big priority is finding a new place for the ranch" he explained. "I might make Nue my... "Nue" base of operations as well, and start exploring it more. It'll let me be home more often" he said with a laugh.
-------------------------------
As the Gallade told his story, the Charizard slowly began to soften a bit, seeming to recognize that he was serious and not mocking him, and that he was a friend. After listening intently, the Charizard would, in it's own boulder-crumbling-like growling language, tell his own story. How he grew up as a Charmander in the Safari Zone alongside other Charmander who just wanted to get stronger. They used to play together via constant sparring and battling. All his siblings and companions would evolve and be moved, or would be caught, leaving him alone as the last one who didn't reach his goal until he was caught by Josh. He had to admit they didn't get along after he evolved into Charmeleon, and he admitted he got prideful and selfish when really he just wanted to be stronger. He explained that his Trainer seemed to learn to understand him, and over time, he grew to respect him again and he was the reason that Fawkes was able to evolve into Charizard like he had so badly wanted to. The Charizard seemed to care for his Trainer just as much as Josh cared about him. He detailed some stories and experiences from their journeys, and seemed to now want to get stronger for his Trainer now, not just for himself.
-----------------------------------
Josh would relax against the chair as Kouji took the call, hearing the assistant on the other end. An eyebrow raised when he heard him refer to Josh as "Scuffy" even if he stopped himself. He rolled his eyes. Scruffy, was he? He might be scruffy but he could still fuck your bitch. (This was an inside joke with Moriah, I swear). Josh listened as they talked about finding a place in the Wilds... Before he looked over at Kouji when he mentioned having an idea.
Post by Kouji Sakuraba on Dec 10, 2014 7:46:48 GMT -5
Kouji then chuckled at the pun, before continuing, “Heh, glad to see that you’ve got a sense of humor. The Fire Lady’s all action, action, action. Not that she gets herself involved in slapstick from time to time…” he added with a chuckle, before turning his attention to the phone which he was now holding in one hand; wondering just what the hell his assistant had in mind. “If you have that idea, you better speak up now;I don’t know how much airtime costs in Nue as opposed to Unova,” he said with a smirk on his face, before resisting the urge to burst out laughing. He knew that his assistant was crazy like that; but in any case, he waited for the reply.
Over at where the Gallade and Charizard were now communing, apparently “deep in conversation” and Rymista actually had this to say to him, “At least you were able to get out there. We’re all a little disorderly when it comes to being kids, but when we grow up we eventually even out. I mean, look at me. I could tell that Jiji over there was in a panic, because he thought that I was going to become a Gardevoir. Not until I fought alongside…my dad, a Dusknoir, did I realize that being all psychic and floating stuff wasn’t my thing—battling was. We evolved together; he became a Dusknoir, and I am what you see now—a huge band of Sharpedo and Carvanha attempted to eat us alive over in the Sevii Islands, but we managed. Somehow, we managed,” before chuckling—or what appeared to be a Gallade’s attempt at humor, in any case.
Over in the Wilds, the assistant then got to talking; once he was excited, there was no stopping him. “Y’see ‘ere, there’s a lo’ o’ potentia’ ou’ ‘ere, like, we coul’ buy th’ lan’ fr’m the people wh’ oversee th’ Wilds, build a combin’d Ranch—yers an’ ours,” he broke off, indicating Josh’s and his boss’, “…an’ e’rryone would’a be al’tagether in one big place, what’cha thin’?” he ended, a hopeful note in his voice. It was rarely he got excited, and even more so when he started hatching grand ideas of this magnitude.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Dec 12, 2014 0:17:01 GMT -5
He laughed a bit. "Oh, I know she can shoot a quip or two" he said. "Just gotta give her time before she actually does it. Annnd then she never shuts up" he joked cheekily. He relaxed back and listened as Kouji went back to speaking to his assistant. Seemed they had something cooking, but he didn't know what they meant. At least, not yet.
-----------------------
Fawkes would nod to his story. "I was a pain in the ass, too. I know that. Honestly, after I evolved when he protected me from harm, I thought I was the bees knees and I knew what was best and he didn't because he got hurt. But when he kept working with me, I slowly realized that he was right all along. My intentions were good, I wanted to fight for him, but I didn't think he could make me stronger to protect and fight with him. I thought I knew. I was wrong. When I evolved into Charizard, that was when it all set in" he explained. "I'm still a bit grumpy sometimes, I'll admit that, but I do my best to protect the younger members of the ranch" he said. "And what about you? What is your role in the ranch?" He asked. As the next bit of conversation from the humans came up though, he looked over. "... Hold that thought. We might find that out sooner then expected"
----------------
Josh crossed his arms, seeming to think the assistant's idea over. "I see... Buying a massive plot of land, and putting the two ranches together with all our Pokemon, and working together... I like it" He said, grinning a bit. "I'll talk mom into it. I'm sure she'd appreciate the help on the ranch too if we're all working together. Maybe we could do a big business partnership, my family and you guys... Maybe bring Izumi into the mix as well with her own funds to unify our ranches completely, since most of her 'mons are there anyway" he said. "I'll get in touch with my folks though. Or... Folk. Only Mom left" he said, almost forgetting with a sigh.

“Heh, tha’s exc’llent,” the assistant cracked, a huge grin spreading over his face. “If ya wan’, I can go ov’r and start talk’n to tha peopl’ who call th’ Wilds home, an’ then we can meet up lat’r and iron out th’ d’tails,” he continued, his voice now positively bubbling. He was actually really excited to be working with the little “vision” that he initially had in mind, but to actually have the other person “involved” in the entire venture actually agree to house all of his own ‘mons together within one piece of grounds that was so large, he’d have a field day just documenting all of them—he then grinned. “Well, I’m off ta look fer th’ people in charge ‘ere, I’ll contact ye with th’ details when I get ‘em,” he continued, before whistling as he continued to look around. “See ya in a few days, Boss!” and then the line went silent.
Now that the line was buzzing, Kouji then decided to hang up the phone, before turning to look at Josh. “What? I thought you still had both parents? Well, we can talk about that another time. Guess things are going to be a lot different now that we’ve officially joined forces. Also… can you ask your mother if it would be okay with her to have an assistant of sorts helping her out from time to time? I mean, my assistant isn’t just the other ‘run-to’ guy whenever I’m not around—he can do breeding requests, plus he’s some kind of technological whiz kid, won quite a lot of Castelia electronics titles, or something along those lines. Also I have no idea why his accent is that…weird, though,” he added with a chuckle. “What I’m trying to say is, I can lend you guys my assistant, if that’s okay with you. Fire Lady kind of told me some details, but not the whole story. So yeah,” he ended with a sheepish grin on his face.
Over where the two Pokémon were now conversing—and listening rather intently, the Gallade then gave a look at the Charizard; having listened to the entirety of his story. After realizing that there was a chance that they would be getting to live and work together in the near future, he then attempted to aim a high-five at the Cha, before realizing that he might’ve accidentally hit him with the bladed ends of his arms. “Well, I’d like to see you more in combat soon. I know that Jiji’s not that great when it comes to actual battle—but he knews more than a few tricks of self-defense. I’m mostly his guard and trusted companion—even if he’s more attacked to my dad and Beth; that’s the Mismagius I always see him with,” he continued; rather pleased at the prospect that was about to unfold.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Dec 12, 2014 23:44:47 GMT -5
The line would go silent. It seemed that the assistant would do the heavy lifting for securing a property. He was sure that his mother would be open to the move, especially when mentioning possible help for her. He knew it was hard handling the ranch alone... It made Josh feel guilty sometimes for always being out on his journey. But his mother was once on a journey of her own while her own mother worked home alone. She understood completely his plight, and she never complained about him leaving once they had reached Hoenn.
Josh sighed when Kouji asked his question, and he scratched his head. "Well, Izumi already told you apparently. So you know the situation. If my dad is still alive is... Sort of up in the air at this point. He's been gone an incredibly long time with no contact, nothing from him since then" he admitted, sighing. "We've just about given up. We don't know if he's alive anymore"
"But... I think she'd love having some help. I'm sure we could hire some more assistance too. Mom's been adamant about not hiring help because she always saw it as a family ranch thing. It was only ever members of the family working on it. But with it no longer being that, and dad not being here anymore... I think she'll be open to it now" he admitted.
"But it's probably best I head out. I'd best go home and talk with her" he said as he got up. The Charizard, sensing it was time to depart, would nod to the other Pokemon. With a look of "We'll meet again", as he knew it would be soon, he would walk over to Josh. "I'll be in touch. Hopefully next time we meet, it'll be on our new property" he said with a smile as Lightning climbed onto his shoulder and the three headed out.

“Well, she told me some of the other details, but not the entire—ohh, that’s hard. I hope he’s still around. Who knows, you might get leads in this region. He might’ve gone on another journey of his own… wanderlust and everything. Something along those lines,” he said with a concerned look passing over his face for a few moments. He then chuckled upon hearing his client’s mother apparent bullheadedness of not wanting to hire additional help—at least initially. “Times change, she should know that most of all. I know that my dad’s out on some cruise liner somewhere; my mum’s still kind of torn on moving away from Castelia, my older brothers are out there somewhere doing who knows what—but eventually, things will have a turnaround. Don’t be too pessimistic about it,” he added with a genial grin as he watched the blonde get up and prepare to depart.
“That reminds me, don’t forget to grab the three eggs for your request, okay?” he added a few moments later, hoping that his voice had reached Josh’s departing form. Over at where the two Pokémon were seemingly wrapping up their conversation, the Gallade then saw that his master’s companion was about to leave; and prepared to do the same. As the Charizard (along with his master) had departed, he then saw that Kouji was also approaching him; and with a nod, decided to accompany his master out of the rather…rustic Pokémon Center and went on his way; hoping that his assistant could get all of the legwork done in time for their next meeting to take place at the area where they were planning to have a large number of Pokémon wander freely without worrying about other things.
