Must defeat 2 trainers blocking your way before you can speak to the master.
For redemption. Also, claiming this one with Josh Dragomir because raisins.
It was time.
After another long span of time had passed, and meeting her very interesting now-travelling partner Josh Dragomir, Izumi was back once more in Shalour, staring up at the Tower that had once denied her the knowledge. Chalk it up to inexperience, but here she was now—and she wasn’t going to be doing this alone, she had a partner and they were going to climb, get the battle won, get the knowledge and get out of the place. They weren’t going to be doing it in record time; they were going to be doing this their own way. Countless hours of practice and teamwork discussions had passed from the first time she’d been unceremoniously punted out of the place; and after another period of countless hours of practice and toughening up against all manner of wild and crazy Pokemon, she had a feeling that this time, the victory would go to them.
Normally people entered individually and challenged alone, but after some clarifications made by her partner, they’d realized that it was possible to take on it together. I know I’ve got more experience now, but this time will completely and totally be a different experience from the last time… she began to muse to herself as she pulled out her mobile phone and dialed her partner’s number and left him a message; saying to go on over to Shalour directly instead of meeting up in Lumiose and going to the agreed meeting place. “Now… it truly begins,” she muttered to herself, as she stood waiting outside the area, looking up at the vast tower from the shoreline. She didn’t take the time to look the first time around, now she was here with a definite, determined sense of purpose. She knew that Nora’s words of, “Trust your partner,” would come very much in handy at this point. Bunji… this is also for you. I’m going to get stronger… trust me on this. Wherever you are, if you’re in the afterlife or just following me around on another plane—watch me grow, watch me finally overcome my fears of battling other people! This is truly it! She mused in the back of her mind, looking down at the shoreline once more and letting the salty sea breeze wash over her as she waited for Josh to arrive on the scene.

It was redemption time.
For Izumi, anyway. Josh knew how much this meant to her. She had been here before, she had told him... She had come here once, hoping to challenge the Tower and learn the secrets of Mega Evolution, but she had been hastily beaten. Her Pokemon had lost confidence, and she had lost confidence... And he knew that a loss here might effect her dramatically.
As for Josh... He had been interested in mega evolution for quite some time. He remembered when Izumi had told him about it, told him of her quest... He could only think about getting stronger, finding a means to help make his Pokemon stronger and develop the bonds between him and them... This was it. This was how HE would begin his own redemption. The power of mega evolution would help him protect this land... And truly redeem himself for his failure long ago. This meant as much to him as it did to Izumi, and he knew it meant a lot to the both of them... They could not fail. They could not lose. They CANNOT lose!
The blonde would meet Izumi at their meeting spot. His expression was serious, stoic... He was ready. He would look Izumi in the eyes, and nod. "Are you ready?" he asked. "Whenever you are, let's go. No use wasting anymore time here. We might as well get it done and get out, win or lose..."

"Ace Duo Romeo and Juliet have challenged you to a fight!"
As soon as the scruffy blond had finished speaking, a sweet melodious voice drifted down to their level.
"Oh darling, look! There are a pair of hopefuls down there to challenge us." A blond woman emerged from the shadows of a pillar, her lips quirked up in a devilish grin. "Don't they look like quite the fixer-upper pair to you?"
Good-natured chuckling echoed around the tower as a blue haired, well-dressed man emerged from the pillar beside hers and kissed her knuckles. "Indeed, my sweet Juliet, indeed." His smile was warm, but his eyes showed a cruel, haughty, cold insincerity in it. "I hope that these plebian commoners are better battlers than they are dressers, or else they might as well forfeit now and save us the time and trouble of actually exerting effort in seeing to their challenge."
Honey dripped in the woman's next reply. "I so do hope that is the case, my darling Romeo. Because this time could be better spent doing... other things...." She emphasized her last words by running a finger along Romeo's jaw with a soft smile before glancing at the two challengers. "IThis will be a strict two versus two battle. No substitutions or revives. f you two feel that you are ready to challenge the tower, release your pokemon already. One for each of you. But please... don't waste our time."

Was it just her, or…was there something that had irked her the moment she heard one of the voices speak. How was it possible that her own temper began to flare just mere seconds after hearing the girl address them? If they were in the middle of some sitcom, there would most certainly be several curved lines at a certain point above her head, throbbing a shade of red—what had set her off at this point? Why are they dressed the same as last time? Don’t tell me… she began to muse in the back of her mind, waiting for them to finish their own “theatrics”. The way the girl was acting had definitely creeped her out; but there was no way in hell she was going to show that she was scared. No fear. Deep breaths, girl. Take some deep breaths. Inhale, exhale… she continued in the back of her mind, before looking sideways at Josh. What was he thinking at this point? They knew they had to go through with their strategy or bust, and she then gestured down at his pocket. “Text you something in a bit…” she began with this cryptic grin on her face; before they were bade to release their own competitors.
This is going to be tough. I hope he’s mellowed down in time for this. I know he’s crazy, but hey… here goes… she thought as she then reached behind her, hearing the clattering sound of several containment units jangling from the back pocket that she’d used just for this venture. No fear, girl. No fear… she continued once more, still inhaling and exhaling as slowly and as evenly as she can, before bringing her fist up to front—where a small, compact-sized Lure Ball waited. She then nodded in his direction, her eyes lit up with this strange flame—before popping the button that made the containment unit grow to normal size. Inside, she could see that her chosen partner was waiting, as if anticipating the dread—or was it ferocity—that hung in the air. Here goes… she continued to herself, tossing the Lure Ball high, and watching as a very tall beam of red light erupted from its open maw. As the containment unit dropped into her hands, the flash of red light formed itself into a twenty one foot tall serpent, which then let out a bellowing roar upon release, as per its tradition of “psyching itself up for the big game”.
“Ry. Remember what we practiced, okay? Here goes nothing!” she began, as the Gyarados took up her side of the field.
Gyarados out on the field!

Where was that incredibly irritating voice coming from? It stank. It stank worse then Izumi's After Lavaridge Cousine Flavour. It stank of posh and arrogance. He could almost sense the cruel, devilish arrogance behind every honeyed, spiteful word. Fixer upper pair, they said? Cute. They looked like they'd end up like Charlie Sheen and the regular jabroni of the month. Monsieur Flashypants there looked like he could drop Honey Boo Boo for the next fancy looking gal he saw. And he probably would, just looking at that spiteful, arrogant little face.
Izumi was angry. He could tell. That foul woman irritated her as much as she irritated him. He could read her like a book. The time they had spent training together had allowed Josh to easily be able to read Izumi. But he hoped she would use that rage as fuel to will her to win...
As for Josh's reaction? His lips twitched into a grin and he started laughing. LAUGHING. He was laughing at the two hearthrobs who exuded so much arrogance. He had shaken off their arrogant mind games, their irritating personalities, and seemed only mildly amused.
"Well, at least we're not dressed like we're overcompensating for something" he jabbed playfully with a laugh. He quite liked the look of a leather jacket, t-shirt, trackpants, steel-toed boots, the scarf, the fingerless gloves... He looked like a man with experience in travel and in his profession. That was exactly what he was.
Izumi would speak to Josh, and he would smirk faintly in return. He got the message. "Alright. Playtime's over, you know what we're here for, and if we have to prove we're worthy of that honour, so be it!" he said as he would take a Pokeball from his belt. He would chuckle a bit and shoot Izumi a charming wink before he would allow it to grow to full size.
"I've been thinking long and hard about what Pokemon I want to use... For something as important as this, I can only think of one answer!" he suddenly said.
"Come out...." he began as he would throw the Pokeball into the air.
"LIGHTNING!"
The ball would open, bringing out that red beam of energy, which would materialize into Josh's partner, his Pikachu. With that cute little blue scarf on his neck. But make no mistake about it... This was one of the most veteran members of Josh's team.
"Pika!" Lightning let out as he got into a battle stance. His cheeks sparked, he stared down the two arrogant pompadeurs... He knew how important this was. He was ready!

"Ace Duo Romeo and Juliet have challenged you to a fight!"
Juliet raised an eyebrow upon seeing the two pokemon that the fixer-upper couple had thrown their way. "Oh. How cute. An overgrown worm with a temper problem and a pathetic attempt at a Cosplay electric rodent. It's like you're asking to be crushed."
Romeo shook his head and laughed. "Well, it looks to be that way my sweet. Why disappoint them then?"
"Too true, Darling." Juliet nodded as she pulled a pokeball from inside of her jacket pocket. "I guess my beloved Akasha would enjoy doing the crushing."
With a flick of her wrist, she tossed the pokeball up into the air and watched as it spat out a menacing-looking purple bat with four wings, eerie yellow eyes and two stubby feet. Crobat, for those who knew their pokemon.
"Akasha, huh?" Romeo tapped his chin thoughtfully as he pulled out a pokeball from his jacket pocket as well. "Then I guess Enkil will do as her dance partner, my sweet." He then tossed his pokeball with equal flare and released a yellow and blue canine with a tall mane and fiery crimson eyes.
The yellow canine smirked at the Gyarados and the Pikachu while the Crobat just looked at them like they were her next meal. Romeo pointedly ignored their behavior and continued to speak. "Since you two wretches are the challengers, I suppose we could let you go first. Not that it matters in the long run since you two are still going to lose."

Now that they’d agreed on a strategy prior to entering this holiest of holy places, she could only feel her own eyebrows shoot up high, so high they threatened to disappear into her hairline. Was the other female in this room really trying to unnerve them with the vicious way she flung her words around? She could only crack a cryptic grin in her own partner’s direction, before saying a few short words, “Let’s get down to it. Check your phone later, I got a lot more words to add to what I was supposed to mention to you earlier,” she ended with a rather devious-looking grin—for now, it was time to fight! She was extremely tempted to retort with, “I’ll have you know that Ryuen doesn’t have a temper problem; he’s perfectly fine just the way he is, thank you very much,” but instead chose to keep her own lips sealed—now that they had the advantage, it was time to let all hell break loose!
“Tactic number One,” she muttered out of the side of her mouth as she then quickly approached him and grabbed his hand, just to prepare him for the madness that was about to explode. “Ry! Don’t let that taunting get to you! Let’s begin the match with what we’ve practiced! Shake things up!” she began, pointing ahead—and right on cue, the Gyarados finally unfurled himself to full height—before quickly slamming his tail down on the ground, twice. She then shot a knowing look at Josh, because he knew what to do next; and she was secretly glad that all the countless hours of practicing had paid off—as long as they held the advantage of first strike on the battlefield! The tremors began to shake through not just the floor, but the entire Tower as well—making even the solid, stable walls tremble as two instances of Earthquake ripped through the arena! I already have a suspicion about that Manectric, and we can’t get to that tactic unless we take that lightning canine out first. Time to sweep the floor! She thought as the rumbling shook the place.
100% Intimidate in effect! Gyarados used Earthquake twice!

The Pikachu seemed to take offense to this, and highly considered zapping the two One Night Standers. But they had a battle to do... And oh, the looks on their faces when he Pika-Powed their faces off...
Josh would smirk a bit at their comments. But he didn't seem to flinch whatsoever when they sent out their Pokemon. Josh surveyed the situation and seemed to begin thinking on his feet, and had a strategy decided within seconds. They would then give them the first move, out of arrogance...
A faint grin crossed the blonde's lips. Big mistake. That was exactly what he was hoping they would do. He shot Izumi a wink, before fiddling around in his pocket, typing something on his phone without even looking at it. Before long, Izumi would have the strategy given to her... And he knew she'd play it to perfection.
It wasn't long before he heard Izumi speak. Calling out her move. He felt her hand grasp his, and he would nod before whispering in her ear as she prepared for duel Earthquakes. The ground had begun to shake... The world around them was nothing but uproars and tremors. The Tower itself seemed like it could collapse at any moment from the power of the Earthquakes that the giant serpent had released. The blonde would squeeze her hand before releasing it and calling out an order. "Lightning, use Magnet Rise!" Josh would call, his face stone... Poker faced, calm. His body language, his expression... He was unreadable. He was unphaseable. And looking at him, you just might think he was untouchable. He just might be. "Pika!" Lightning responded with a nod. "Piiikaaaaa.... Piiiikaaaa.. PIKA!" Lightning let out as he would allow a golden aura to surround him before he began to float through the air. Lightning was flying! What this also meant was that Earthquake, neither of them... Would effect him whatsoever. But it didn't end there...
"Lightning, use Brick Break!" Josh would suddenly command, pointing toward Crobat. "Pika!" Lightning called out in affirmative before he began to divebomb toward the Crobat in mid-air via Magnet Rise, like a jet plane in the sky, swiftly gliding like it was all he knew. "Pika.... PIKA!" Lightning let out as his paws would turn white, and he would go for the chops on Crobat.
It had begun. The biggest battle of their careers as Trainers.
No...
The biggest battle of their lives... Josh's life. Izumi's life. The knowledge, the use of mega evolution... It was all on the line here.
And neither of them. Hell, none of them. Not Josh. Not Izumi. Not her Gyarados. Not Lightning...
None of them would back down...
[Lightning used Magnet Rise, and then used Brick Break on Crobat!]

"Ace Duo Romeo and Juliet have challenged you to a fight!"
In the moments that the words Shake things up were uttered and the Gyarados began to rear himself up to full height, Romeo gave Enkil a sharp glance and nodded up. In response, Enkil's body shimmered with an electric yellow aura unintentionally similar to that being emitted by the Cosplay Pikachu reject as he bent his knees. A moment later, he jumped up and away from the ground and stayed there, avoiding the two massive tremors that rocked the field and the tower with a vengeance.
"Zap the worm, Enkil~!" Romeo called out with a cruel smirk even as he tried to steady himself from the powerful tremors.
Enkil obeyed and opened his mouth, firing a thin but strong beam of electricity aimed right at the irritating blue serpent at quick speeds characteristic of electric moves.
So what was Juliet and Akasha doing during all that? Akasha was a flying type and therefore didn't have to care about a few measly tremors on the ground. Instead, she watched on and prepared herself as the Pikachu flew up and then flew towards her with a paw held in her direction. She was tempted to dodge the thing in the air and show it what the real masters of the air could do, only to be stopped as Juliet raised her hand and then tapped her throat twice.
So that's what she wanted her to do to the stupid rodent, huh? Well, she could do that.
As soon as the rodent hit her with its paw -which hurt about as much as a playful nip from Enkil- she spat out an absolutely huge amount of dark-colored toxic spores right in the rodent's face before flapping her wings and backing off from it to get her some much-needed distance from it.
Opposition Manectric dodges both Earthquakes with Magnet Rise. Crobat is hit by Brick Break but retaliates with Toxic while Manectric attacks Gyarados with Charge Beam.

Izumi was hoping that it would end early—but nope, the crazy lightning dog just had to float as well, seemingly mirroring the levitating Pikachu on their side of the battlefield! She then resisted the urge to smack both her palms out of annoyance—for the first strike had been ruined! Utterly and completely deflected! Normally, at this point she’d be screeching all manner of profanities and insults; but since Josh was there right beside her, it served to calm her down—somewhat. Right. So you’re going to be all stubborn eh? Thankfully I have a plan set up in mind… she thought as she then let loose with a shrill blast. Even if it had been a while since she’d last used the whistling as a means of communication, this was also a part of the countless hours of practice. Shit, I should not have gone verbal. Non-verbal is the way to go… and the way they’re leering so triumphantly makes it all the more sickening… they’re not going to be grinning once we’re through with them… she mused to herself as she stole a glance at her companion before flicking her eyes in a certain direction; hoping that he understood that cue.
The sharp whistle was a signal—after the Sea Serpent had (failed to) attack the now-“airborne” electric type, it then slammed its tail down on the ground out of rage—before letting out a bellowing roar that shook the area. Yes, Ryuen was pissed off. Yes, he wanted to eat the Crobat alive. But they would have to do this patiently, their own way, their own time… and Izumi blinked as she saw a spray of purple headed towards the Pika. She was much tempted to panic, but knew that Josh had it covered. Another loud, shrill whistling noise coming from her direction and the Gyara then took matters into its own hands, slamming its tail down on the ground twice in quick succession. Almost immediately, two consecutive pillars of stone erupted from the ground, the first one to block the incoming beam of electricity in order to protect himself from harm; thus forming a sheild of sharp rocks, the other… hopefully to strike the Manectric!
100% Intimidate in effect! Gyarados used two instances of Stone Edge, one to block the incoming Charge Beam, the other aimed at the Manectric!

The Manectric had used Magnet Rise as well... Interesting. Josh closed his eyes and took a breath, folding his arms as he looked down. He still remained composed and calm... But he knew that some... Changes would have to be made.
He opened his eyes instantly as he heard Izumi using Stone Edge, seeing Lightning's move have little effect and the Crobat's mouth had begun to open... Josh wasn't waiting to find out what was going to happen. "Back up, use Grass Knot to block it!" Josh would suddenly call out to Lightning. The two were in sync, Lightning would answer immediately. "Pi!" Lightning let out as he would manage to clear a little bit of distance between him and Crobat, and suddenly fast whips of grass would erupt from the ground, springing up and trying to snare the Crobat, unintentionally getting caught in the crossfire of the Toxic at the last second as it had tried to nab the airborne Pokemon, functioning as a wall of sorts that the Toxic would crash into. The grass would quickly turn from it's healthy green color, to an unhealthy shade of purple, to pitch black as the "Grass" died right in front of their eyes and disappeared back into the ground.
Without missing a heartbeat, Josh would decide that Manectric would be next for an attack. "Lightning, use Quick Attack!" Josh would quickly call. "Pika!" Lightning let out as he would suddenly gain speed temporarily, flying away from Crobat quickly before starting to charge toward Manectric. "To the left!" Josh called, to which the Pikachu did, side-stepping to the left a bit, just enough to try and nail the back end of Manectric's side. He was going to try and force Manectric to have to work from two different directions. "Pika... CHU!" Lightning let out as he would try and ram himself at full speed into Manectric.
[Lightning used Grass Knot to block Toxic, used Quick Attack on Manectric.

"Ace Duo Romeo and Juliet have challenged you to a fight!"
So the worm and the rat think that they could outmaneuver his Enkil in the air? Romeo scoffed. He'd specifically had him practice long hours in mid-air with his beloved's Akasha just so that he could attain a measure of her prodigious maneuvering ability in the air.
"Enkil!" The Manectric's body glowed white before it blurred away moments before it was hit with Quick Attack from the electric rodent. At the same time, he managed to blur away from the Stone Edge that was threatening to pin him in a two-pronged attack as well.
"Now my darling Akasha, show them what flight is supposed to look like." Juliet crooned, her voice easily carrying over the winds.
Akasha grinned and swooped near the Gyarados, spitting out a stream of toxic spores as she passed by that seemed to just home in on the sea serpent's location. At the same time, Enkil moved to a different position and then fired off another beam of electricity that was also aimed towards the blue sea serpent, moving at a fast pace at an angle right behind the serpent's neck, making it hard to block with a rock without fine precision, because otherwise it would stab itself in the process.

Crap. I should’ve brought Momiji along instead, she could shut them down completely… and she has Safeguard, too. Drats. She thought with a look of concern as the purple blob suddenly gained a burst of speed and began to fly seemingly overhead. “Block, and raise!” she shouted, before shooting Josh this “bail me out here, man” sideways look before facing the battlefield again—because the Manectric had seemingly maneuvered itself out of the way and behind the Gyara, while letting loose another electric attack headed right for the serpent!
Meanwhile, out on the battlefield, the twenty-foot one, four inches tall serpent let out another roar of indignation, before slapping his tail on the ground once more. The arena was starting to look pretty wrecked; and another instance of Stone Edge shot up; brushing the contact with the noxious purple spores—Izumi watched in surprise as several slabs of sharp rock seemingly melted and disintegrated mere seconds after they had brushed the substance; but thankfully there was no lasting damage done; as the air was still safe…for now. Soon after the initial danger had passed, the Gyara took a deep breath—before quickly shifting into the now-familiar motions that signaled a Dragon Dance from the serpentine Pokémon!
She knew that Josh had the benefit of having a smaller, faster fighter on the field, and that Electric attacks didn’t faze their own fellow kind—so she was really banking on her traveling partner, her number one confidant, ally and back-up—to cover for her! She had to tank the hits in the meantime, and crossed her fingers in her pockets—hoping that Josh could block the Charge Beam in time while the Gyara powered himself up with the dance. Why didn’t she think of doing this at the onset; instead she’d gone with Earthquake and had perfectly messed up everything. I hope we get the chance to pin that annoying Manectric down. This is a one in a million shot, but I hope it works! She thought rather furiously; because if this time they’d fail again, she’d have to truly bring out her trump card for what she hoped would be her final attempt…
Atk +1, Spd +1 Intimidate in effect! Gyarados used Stone Edge to block Toxic, disintegrating upon contact with the noxious orbs. After that, Gyara powers up with Dragon Dance.

Josh realized full well that things were looking bad. But he wouldn't allow himself to get frustrated. Allowing frustration would only lead to their downfall... And he believed in Lightning. That was all that mattered. There was an incredibly strong bond between the two. And mega evolution had something to do with the bond between people and Pokemon, right? He took a deep breath, as he watched the Charge Beam head toward the Gyarados...
Time to do something risky.
"Lightning, use Agility and take the Charge Beam!" Josh called. "Pika!" Lightning let out, not wanting to, but he understood the situation. They needed their powerhouse to keep ticking if they wanted to stay in this! He would quickly begin gaining speed as he raced toward it...
"Agility, once more!" Josh called and Lightning would be like a blur as he would strike the Charge Beam head on with his body, before hitting the ground. Josh's fists clenched, his knuckles white. He hated it, he hated doing that. And he knew so did Lightning... But they both knew deep down, that they had to trust one another... They were both willing to make sacrifices to conquer this goal that they had set together!
On the bright side, Lightning was a lot faster, if he would be able to survive much longer....

"Ace Duo Romeo and Juliet have challenged you to a fight!"
"A sacrificial rat, eh?"
Juliet covered her mouth and giggled as the Pikachu blocked the hit that was meant to electrocute the Gyarados, then tried to make itself go even faster. It was admittedly noble but utterly foolish against someone like them.
"Akasha, be a dear and accept the sacrifice, would you?" Juliet smiled and batted her eyelashes almost innocently as she hugged Romeo's arm to her chest. "Don't forget interest now."
Akasha chuckled evilly and expelled a thick, black mist from her mouth that covered the entire field in mere moments. The thick black haze was mixed with her special homing toxic spores when she spat it out from her mouth, which blended in with the dark haze easily as it headed towards the Pikachu.
At the same time, Romeo grinned despite the haze covering the battlefield because his girlfriend's hug told him all he needed to know. "Keep attacking, Enkil! Don't let up even through the the darkness!"
Enkil the Manectric grinned and fired off two consecutive beams of electricity in two quick bursts, both aimed at the Gyarados just as the haze was starting to clear. Yeah, they weren't about to let up trying to fry the Gyarados at all. Not when they were so generous as to give them a breather opening.
