Izumi continued to walk around; deciding to keep Arion in his Pokeball unless absolutely necessary. The next part of the searching usually involved going through the grass high and low; because who knew what would come out of the shrubbery this time around? Shame I forgot to bring along a Fire-type just in case I wanted to incinerate something to the ground… she thought crossly to herself as she then got down on her knees and began…crawling through the grass. Who knew if this was going to give her a better chance to start looking for the thing that she was looking for—or to just bring down a really bad streak of luck on her head once again?! Ugh. This looks ridiculous, but at least they’re not going to see me coming… she thought to herself as she slithered through the grass, much like a military-trained individual would go through if they wished to avoid any wild gunfire from above. And stop making so much noise; you’re bound to scare the thing off! She thought angrily to herself as she slunk through the grass, inhaling the scent of earthy ground and grass at the same time—the sky smelled quite damp; was it a sign that it was going to rain soon? Oh crap, I better hurry up; otherwise the weather will screw me over with my clothing! She continued to herself as she slowly made her way through the vast undergrowth.

As Izumi continued to crawl through the grass, she then heard something shuffling up ahead—she couldn’t risk poking her head up above the ground in order to be able to see what was causing the disturbance up ahead—and she could only guess what it was; but it was… a bunny?! Nope, definitely not the one I need… she thought to herself as the bunny then locked eyes with her; before letting out a shriek of surprise before putting on a quick Agility boost and then darting away from her! “Well, that is strange… why the hell did it run away from me?” she mused to herself as she then continued to crawl through the grass, pausing every five minutes to scent the wind—because who knew if it suddenly decided to start pouring down on her and force her to search through the area while wading through the grass in the area?! Well, still safe for now, she mused to herself as she continued to go through the tall grass, feeling an itch tickle her nose.
Uh-oh… that is definitely not good at all…! She thought as she stopped, dead-frozen and then tried to combat the tickly feeling that was attacking her nose… before suddenly letting a loud sneeze erupt from her mouth! Ah, shoot, that’s not good at all! She mused as she whipped a hand up to her nose and then rubbed it hard, leaving a red mark all over it; because the itching feeling was still not going away at all! Stop tickling me, stop tickling me, stop tickling me darn it! ran through her mind as she then resumed the slow crawl she’d picked up on after beginning her search in this very… exposed and compromising position.

Now that Izumi had gone back down onto the ground and started crawling forward again, there was something that was bothering her—why did the brown-colored bunny run away from her? Was it something behind her? Was it something about her aura? Or was there something else entirely that had scared off the bunny…? She just shook her head and continued to crawl through the grass; hoping that the shuffling noise she heard not too far ahead would bring something of actual worth her way—and a few moments later, she heard a chirping; like it was calling out for someone; or something to come its way! Oh, definitely something is headed your way! She thought gleefully to herself as she inched forward through the grass, heading towards the source of the chirping, determined to find out what was making the tune. It definitely sounded nothing like the usual Pidgey / Spearow / Tailow / Starly / Pidove / Rufflet chirping she’d heard so far; so it had to be… oh hell yes! Finally, something I can slash off my wish list! She thought with a grin on her face as she then sneakily stood up as quietly as she could manage; before seeing there was a red-and-ash colored bird that had a black-and-white marked tail, just seemingly minding its business… then again, once the Fletchling caught sight of Izumi it then tried to fly away; however there was something wrong…
The moment it had attempted to take flight, it had managed to hover for a few moments before falling back on the grass, and then letting out a loud chirp of surprise! “Oh shit,” she muttered to herself, apprehensively hovering at the edge of the clearing where the Fletchling was, before deciding to abandon all reason and just approach it anyway—with a very slow walk. “Hey. Don’t… don’t fly away, look what happened to you. You’re injured,” she began, trying out her calming tone, hoping that the little bird didn’t go bat-crazy and try to attack her instead! Lucky I didn’t send Arion out before I started… she thought to herself as she slowly, cautiously approached the Fletchling that was trying to take off again, the better to get away from the approaching human—but it couldn’t hover for more than a few feet before slumping over onto the grass! “Who… or what did this to you?” she asked again, still approaching the Fletchling with a very mellow intent; she was going to check if she would be able to help in any way, shape or form possible!
The Fletchling ended up just slumping on the grass, and then flapped its wings—the right one was fine, but with her keen eye, Izumi noticed that the feathers on the left side were ruffled, and bent out of shape. “Hey, can you flutter your wings again for me?” she asked the bird, to which it gave her a confused look, before spreading its wings out to the fullest that it could manage—and that’s where she saw it; the left wing not only had its feathers all ruffled out, they were also matted with something that felt sticky, yet looked very familiar! “Okay, who did this to you; was it that bunny I saw earlier?” she asked, to which the Fletchling looked at her out of confusion, before shaking its head—and then pointing deeper into the grass that lay ahead. Whatever’s out there… it has to be nasty… she thought to herself as she then held the Fletchling in her cupped hands before quickly rushing out of the spot where she was searching and heading towards the nearest source of water that was available—and thankfully, there was a small stream nearby.
“Alright, please bear with me, okay…” she muttered as she then kicked off her boots and then went towards the shore, before setting the Fletchling down on a nearby rock and then wading out into the shallows; and then returning with a handful of water, which she quickly rubbed against the dried-up, sticky substance. The tiny bird let out a cry of surprise, but then allowed her to proceed with cleaning up its ruffled and bloody feathers, which resulted in Izumi making several trips to the stream, rushing back and forth with several handfuls of water to not just clean out the wing, but to also have the Fletchling drink from it as well. She then attempted to straighten out the feathers, but was met with fierce pecking; she then hissed and held back her fingers out of surprise! “Hey, I’m not going to eat you, alright? There, I got the sticky stuff off, see?” she continued, pointing towards the spot on its left wing where there was dried blood on it earlier, and the Fletchling took a look—in its mind, it heaved a sigh of relief, because that feeling that was bothering it was now gone—at least for now. Back to Izumi, she then began looking through her pockets, hoping she could find something that she could use—and chanced upon a handkerchief that she thought she’d lost some time ago. “Well, glad I found you but now…” she muttered to herself as she then let the Fletchling flop down on her cupped hands once again, since it was too tired to fly and take off running from her.
Besides, this strange human is taking care of my broken wing… might as well let her take care of me… was running through the Fletchling’s mind, but in response it gave a few chirping noises, to which she looked at it in confusion. “Huh? What are you trying to say?” she asked the Fletchling, and it then spread out its injured wing again—to which she didn’t let it miss a beat, she then let the Fletchling hop onto a rock near the shore and she was holding the handkerchief in her hands, keeping the ruffled wing extended out as much as it could while she took the cue and then slowly wrapped it up in the hanky. After a few moments of struggling with the hanky itself, she then knotted it in place and the Fletching let out another chain of notes, while pointing back to the grass that they had absconded from, as if trying to warn her about something.
“Huh? What’re you saying?” I should…be careful or something?” she guessed, because the Fletchling’s chirping was becoming agitated, while extending its only working wing as of the moment. It then began hopping around the rock, trying to get her undivided attention, and she then realized that the bird was probably scared witless because of something. “Well, I don’t know… but thank you for the warning,” she continued; standing up and then fitting her boots back on. The Fletchling gave her a confused look, before chirping again and then hopping onto her shoulder from the rock (it had taken a few tries for it to land right then and there) and then gently pecking her with its beak. “Hm? What is it?” she asked, looking at her shoulder and said Fletchling gave her another nudge, before pecking her cheek again. “You know, if only I could understand what you were saying, then we’d hitit off fine. Sadly I’ll have to keep guessing,” she said towards the affectionate bird that was now chirping and then pointing with its one good wing towards the grass again.
If the Fletchling could be understood, this is what he would have been saying since earlier: “Be careful in the tall grass! That’s where the thing that attacked me came from! I don’t want you to get hurt or anything! Wait, don’t leave me here! I want to go with you!” but of course, to Izumi’s ears, it all came out as chirping and agitated wing-flapping. “Whoa, whoa, hey, be careful while you flap. You might agitate your broken wing. I know birds need a center of balance, but your flapping is crazy,” she said, quickly reaching into her pocket and then finding that there was a pack of something that she assumed was sliced cake, but it had become so crushed over time she didn’t realize it was there until now. “Oh wait, are you hungry?” she asked the ash-and-fire colored bird, to which it then chirped again, and she decided to open up the snack pack, and then held it up to the Fletchling’s face, to which it then dove in with a look of glee on its face.
“Heh, guess you are,” she continued, keeping the open bag up so that the bird could eat its share; and since she wasn’t hungry anyway, she decided to let the Fletchling have the entire thing. Once it chirped again (after several minutes) she saw that the bag was empty; and then pocketed it again. “What, you want to come with me?” she asked it a few moments later, letting it hop out onto her left hand, and then the bird replied by flapping its wings and chirping some more. “Well, I can’t leave you out here in the wild…” she muttered to herself as she then plucked an empty Pokeball from another one of her pockets, and then let it tap the button with its uninjured wing, which then opened and then swallowed said Fletchling in a flash of red light.

After watching the ball shake in her hands; she knew she had to go back to the Pokémon Center once she was done trawling through the grass in order to be able to check up on the Fletchling that had decided to come with her; and now she made her way back to the taller grass—just exactly where the Fletchling warned her not to go. I’m sorry, but since you told me about it I have to check it out… don’t worry, I can protect myself fine… she thought to herself as she then began wading through the undergrowth, keeping her ears perked up for whatever would be waiting out there—and she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck prickle—because there was definitely something nearby; although she couldn’t tell what it was… when that tingling starts I know something is nearby… she continued as she turned around and then thought she saw a shadow teleporting closer to where she was… or was she just seeing things?
Blinking a few times in order to moisten up her eyeballs, she then went towards the spot where she thought she had seen things—and then the prickling sensation started attacking her senses again! Seriously, what is up with that area? She mused as she then waded deeper into the grass, trying to keep track of the thing she was chasing… but ending up chasing another exercise in futility! “Okay stop chasing things that aren’t really there…” she muttered to herself, slapping a palm to her forehead; before shaking it in order to be able to continue forward—little did she know that there was an Abra that was watching her movements from the grass that she had decided to abandon in order to continue looking…

Now that she had managed to shake off that weird, creepy feeling, Izumi then continued her trek through the tall grass, wondering if that odd sensation would sneak back up on her again—but apparently, it was just her mind playing tricks on her. She knew she had to go back to the nearest town with a Pokémon Center in order to be able to check up on the Fletchling, because that injured wing was still bothering her, in all honesty. Her eye then caught sight of a shuffling movement not too far ahead, so she decided to go check it out, sneaking up as quietly as possible on the thing that was causing the grass to tremble and shake not too far ahead. Maybe the thing got scared because the bird told on me about it? I don’t know… she thought to herself as she felt her hand go to her jacket pocket, ready to fight whatever it was that was waiting out there for her to come and attack her.
She then inched forward as silently as she could manage; before hearing a snapping sound not too far behind her. Crap, I’ve been snuck up on! She thought as she then faced the opposite direction—and then saw something pink, and fluffy, that was apparently twiddling its prongs with some interest. “Wait… what the hell?” she muttered to herself, rubbing her forehead—she was definitely having an off day, at least for the moment. She then continued to watch the Audino who had no apparent hostile intent with some curiosity; before deciding to turn back and then head to civilization again. There was another ‘mon she’d scratched off her wish list, at least. Well, time to continue searching for that darned thing… she thought to herself as she commenced the long trek back to Santalune City; because for some weird reason Aquacorde up ahead had no Pokémon Center to speak of, which was kind of disconcerting for her.
