When she woke up this morning, she hadn’t even realized that the power in her hotel room was out. Her groggy gaze didn’t register the missing numbers on her alarm clock, assumed the lights were out when she hit the light switch for the bathroom, and she managed to get almost done with the morning routine until… The microwave didn’t turn on. That’s when the power being out finally dawned on her, and upon heading to the lobby, she’d find that a large number of other guests had figured out the lack of electricity a fair bit faster than herself. The breakfast bar was empty, people looked grumpy and groggy, and she almost considered trying to talk to one of the staff members for help, but they didn’t exactly look too sun shiny themselves. Opting in favor of not igniting some sort of repressed fury with questions that the workers must have answered a hundred times today, Ricki figured her morning might start off a bit better with a cheap breakfast from a nearby convenience store.
They were called convenience stores for a reason, y’know?
It was one of those mornings where Ricki hadn’t given a damn for bothering to dress herself properly… Though in hind sight, there wasn’t really many mornings where she bothered trying to dress herself up. Baggy raggedy jeans that any 90’s rebel girl would be proud to wear – minus the chains – with an oversized hoodie and her typical zip-up turtleneck tank underneath to shield herself from the rain, for those that didn’t know who she was, she probably looked like some typical thug in this smaller part of Bayonada. With the rather half-assed clothing choices she made this morning, she probably should’ve turned around to grab a change of clothes the moment she encountered the most unforgiving rain storm she’d ever experienced. A couple of steps out into it and she instead just bolted to get to the store instead.
Unfortunately for Ricki, the store would also be without power, so when the set of automatic doors should have opened, they instead remained shut. Like a bug versus the windshield, Ricki slammed into the doors, stumbled back, and stared wide eyed in her groggy confusion at the door before seeing the sign that instructed her to actually physically open and close the door instead. Hopefully, no one saw that, but she was pretty sure someone did. Pushing the door open and making her way inside, shutting the door behind herself when she saw no one else coming, she meandered her way into the store to see that there weren’t that many people here either. A rather sad looking employee sat at the cash register with a joltik holding the register’s plug and nibbling on it like a chew toy, a young couple arguing about whether or not Red Bull was an important part of the emergency kit they needed to prep, and a small family going through a list of supplies to get. Guess this storm was worse than she initially thought if people were getting this prepared…
Whatever, she came in here for breakfast! Ricki shifted her focus back forward and started towards the freezers in the back of the store. She pulled back her hood and ruffled her now poofy green hair as she rounded the aisle to let her eyes settle on the prize. Pizza Lunchables, clearly the breakfast of champions right there… But wait, they had the legendary chicken nugget Lunachables, too… Now the twenty-one-year-old had to stop and study this revelation because she could only afford one at the moment…
But which one?

She'd gotten the cheapest hotel room she could get just a few days ago, and she'd spent the rest of the time since then alternating between eating, sleeping, and plastering missing posters all over Bayonadaville. She was getting tired of this place. It didn't have the charm of Shui City, surrounded by water as it was. It wasn't bad, but it just wasn't interesting. Every morning she woke up with a sore back and a few new bug bites, and her savings were dwindling. She'd have to return soon if she didn't want to bankrupt herself.
That morning, the power had been out. She slept in past her usual time. When she checked the time on her phone, she'd let out a shriek and hurried through the rest of her morning routine. Her hair was still wet when she hurried outside right into the rain. It was pouring buckets outside. She yanked her umbrella out of her bag and popped it open, but the wind threatened to blow her away, and so she begrudgingly packed it back up again. Day is going great so far, she thought to herself. Reeeaaalll great.
Her stomach rumbled. She walked as fast as she could down the street, looking up and down for a place she could get some food. It seemed like nobody in that area had any power. The way the weather is right now, that's no big surprise. She had to wonder when it would be back up. Within the hour? Within a few hours? She didn't intend to go the whole day without charging her phone.
The first convenience store she found was also without power, and so she had to shove her way inside. There were other people there, none of them looking happy. She couldn't blame them. Droplets of rain obscured her vision, and so she pulled her glasses off, squinting around the store. It wasn't much better than when she'd had her glasses on. Her clothes were too wet to really clean them off, too, and she'd forgotten to put her handkerchief in her pocket that morning.
She managed to make her way to the freezer section without tripping over something, which was, for her, a personal victory. She had to get so close to the glass that her breath fogged it up in order to see what was inside, but in the end she spotted a certain item that a green-haired lady had stopped to admire.
Without even thinking about it, she opened up the freezer door and snatched up the pizza Lunchables with a little triumphant "hah!"

Zeus's moments in the store were to simply just dry off his Aron, who wasn't taking too kindly to the rain that coated his back. "I'm so sorry Darling, really. But we needed you."
He had been roaming around, looking for places where he could help with any potential damage control. His father thought it would be a good idea for Zeus to help because, well, he had a slight mechanical advantage with his right arm, and knew plenty about different rescue tactics.
And along with going around and helping, he had found that he had been staying in cheap hotels so he could stay close to the most congested parts of places, the ones that would need the most help if any kind of disaster were to suddenly strike without any form of true warning.
His attention turned to people roaming around, looking at the food and he raised an eyebrow. He wasn't judging of course, he was just curious of two certain people roaming around in the store, BUT! His poor Uguro was grumpy and wet, so he had to do what he could to get the rest of the water off of that Aron. Besides, he had his own, well preserved food in a bag that was slung over his shoulder and went everywhere with him.
It had a little rescue equipment on it and was secured well to his torso. If one were to observe close enough, they would notice that the bag was part of a six point harness system he was wearing. When he was done and stood up though, it would become more obvious. With a tap of his fingers on his arm, he motioned for his Aron to follow him to the counter where the clerk was, seeing if he could use any help with anything around the store while he was there.
One sip of sour milk was all it took to get Jason to face the storm and head out to the nearest convenience store. While he would have usually just settled for whatever the hotel shop had to offer, the entire building was out of power and unlikely to have it back on any time soon. Not that going hungry or being dehydrated was an issue, that one team was going around helping people, but he'd rather pay for his food if he could. He knew there plenty of people that could not and why take away from them?
Slipping a hoodie the same shade of the sky, a dark gray, Jason headed outside hoping his jeans and boots would keep him safe enough from the flooding waters. It took him about fifteen minutes of hiding underneath balconies of other buildings and hopping from umbrella to umbrella to get to the convenience store that was really a ten minute walk at most. Once he entered, it was a bee line to the refrigerated aisle, which thankfully, contained unspoiled milk. He bought a quart of it and headed towards the register, noting the other occupants. Some kid, an okay looking guy, and some chick with green hai- Green hair. Who had Jason, not Jeruad, met with green hair...
"Riii-" He exclaimed, a smile on his face, when he suddenly remembered who he was, or rather, who he wasn't. Continuing, he said with a fake smile, "Ridiculous, huh? How bad the storm is and the power going out." Small talk, yes, small talk would save him.

Reaching the Lunchables, Ricki simply had to decide between the Chicken Nuggets or the Pizza… Now, it’d been a while since he actually had either or, so she had to bare careful with this decision, right? Right. For all she knew, the family lurking in the background would be over here in moments to swoop in and take one of them! The rumble of thunder rolled by overhead rather quietly, but Ricki paid no mind to that as she came to her conclusion on which Lunchable she would have for… Breakfast. Oh lord if Jason could see her now, he’d probably have pity and make her an actual breakfast, Zernebog probably would too or he’d laugh at her. That thought made her pause and she glanced up briefly at the ceiling as she remembered oh right, he was actually in town right now. She’d have to go bother him later. With that brief pause, she looked back to her prize, slowly started to reach out and—
It was gone. Ricki gripped nothing but air as she had reached for the freezer door and watched the Pizza Lunchable be snatched away by another girl. Blinking a couple of times at the girl who was just a little shorter than herself, Ricki frowned at the sight of her holding the Lunchable so proudly that Ricki had tried to grab. Looking into the fridge, the Lunchable beneath the Pizza was revealed to be less than desirable and Ricki leaned in to flick through the boxes before her head slowly craned back towards Pepper in revelation that she had snatched the last of the Pizza Lunchables.
Well shit.
Ricki couldn’t just ask for it, she didn’t make dibs or anything, she didn’t know who this younger woman was and as result, Ricki almost wanted to just press her face to the glass of the freezer and mope. Mope and mope over the lost Lunchable, but relented when a voice called out what she thought was the beginning of her name. Glancing to the side, her head pivoted to look to the young man approaching the two of them as he adjusted what he was saying and earning a curious brow quirk from herself. Ricki stood up right from her slight slump to study him and stayed silent at first as she realized he looked rather familiar, but she couldn’t quite place her finger on where she’d seen that pretty face before, though. Giving up on trying to stir her tired mind to recall where she’d possibly seen that face of his, Ricki settled for shifting her attention to what he had actually said to her and the other girl.
“Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised to start seeing rangers and officers roaming around or something. Place is getting pretty chaotic at this rate…” she trailed off as she recalled a time when the power went out in the city she grew up in. The things some people did when they thought no one was watching, it wasn’t pretty... Recalling that this was a cue from this man for idle chatter, probably a distraction from the storm or something, Ricki had no issue continuing a bit further with her end of the conversation. “Though, this isn’t the only place getting hit by crazy weather from what I’ve heard” she remarked, pulling her Holo Caster from her pocket and flicking to the weather information. “All of the coastal cities are having major shit storms like this for some reason” she informed, eyeing the phone briefly.
As Ricki focused on the potential conversation unfolding, she wouldn’t notice another person, rather Pokémon, entering the store. Her Lucario, Rep, whom remembered to grab her umbrella – which was now ruined courtesy of the harsh winds outside – made his way with into the store with a bag and belt hanging from his arm. He’d seem to take a moment to simply scope out the store, despite knowing full and well where his trainer was. A precaution given the kind of shenanigans his trainer was well known for getting involved with, Rep relaxed a bit when things to be calm for the most part. His gaze shifted over to a little buzz of activity in which the cashier was approached by Zeus about getting help in regards to handling the place. The cashier would politely decline the offer though, assuring the man that everything was under control in here for the time being. Rep glanced over at Zeus curiously, giving him a nod of acknowledgment should the peculiar man look over at him, before starting onwards to go find Ricki.

Of course Pepper completely failed to notice that she had just snatched her prize right out from under someone else's nose. She was already about to walk away when someone walked up to them and began to speak. She waited, letting Ricki speak first. "All of the coastal cities are having major shit storms like this for some reason." Her eyes widened. "Really? I had no idea." She'd been completely out of the loop, evidently. She wondered if Paula back in Shui City was doing okay. She probably is, I mean she stays indoors most of the time. Except for when she needs food. Sometimes she found the older woman up in the middle of the night, munching on a sandwich she'd made. One time, she'd found her making chocolate pudding at 4 am. She was... a strange person. "And they have no idea what's causing it? That's pretty scary." And definitely not normal. Weather shouldn't work like that.
That sort of explained why nobody had been around when she'd left the hotel. A few people had gotten up to complain about the lack of electricity, but an employee had snarkily replied, "well do something about this storm and we can put the electricity back on!" It had seemed a little funny at the time, but as soon as she had actually gone out into the storm... not so much. At this rate, all of her missing posters were going to be ruined. All my work gone to hell just because of a stupid freak storm. Ugh. Next time she'd have to make them waterproof, and use duct tape.
Now that she knew this wasn't just a regular storm, she found herself glancing out the windows of the store. It was too dark to see much there. Please don't let a tornado form on top of us. Please, please, please. If they got lucky, it would just blow over them and move on to pound some other city. She could feel sorry for them once she was done feeling sorry for herself. How much rain could there be in a single storm, anyway? Clouds could only hold so much water.
There's a beauty in everything that many cannot see; join me in loving this world
Denied! The cashier denied his help and oh well. The angry little Aron finally shook off the rest of the water and stood on his hind legs, looking up at the cashier with a glare. A glare that made Zeus have to do a double take. "Now now, don't be that way." There was a simple huff from the Pokemon and he laid down, looking at the Lucario approaching.
Oh! A pokemon! Zeus turned his attention away from the cashier and looked at the Lucario, giving a nod back with a slight bow, but then he walked away. Curious, Zeus put the Aron back into his ball and followed, curious about the voices and as to where the curious Pokemon was heading towards. He finally spotted a peculiar scene. There were a couple of trainers and one seemed particularly concerned about the storm outside and the other two seemed to be opening a conversation with each other.
Luckily, situations couldn't be awkward to Zeus, especially since he was used to having a little girl that followed him around calling him super dad and flower dad. Plus, he was hard to embarrass. So Zeus wasn't worried about looking like an idiot at all. As a matter of fact, he was pretty sure he had seen one of these faces at the hotel he had checked into. "You all look a little wet." He made the light joke with a small smile, sort of laughing with it. It couldn't be taken as much of an insult if you yourself had soaked clothing. Luckily that arm of his was definitely water proof.
Jason released an internal sigh of relief. She hadn't recognized him, thankfully. He couldn't even imagine what would have happened had she recognized his handsome features. The new arrival of her Lucario, however, was not necessarily something Jason was too happy about. He was well aware of how these pokemon made use of the unique energy that surrounded all living things, aura, and their ability to read them. If it focused on him, which hopefully it wouldn't, the aura pokemon just might be able to reveal his identity.
Ignoring the troublesome thoughts, Jason brought his attention back to the conversation at hand. He nodded at Ricki's comment about the terrible conditions ravaging the coastal cities. The news stations had been covering footage of the sea bound cities around Nue and the efforts to help by local authorities. "Yeah, I've heard about that. I guess it's a good thing Team Aqua is helping right? Not that I really understand this "transformation" any better than the next guy, their actions speak for themselves in my opinion. A lot more helpful than what they were doing about five or six years ago, huh." Jason said, voicing his thoughts on the matter. He was being honest too, considering he'd seen the destruction the old Team Aqua had brought into the world, but this revived version, well, didn't seem that bad. Comparatively speaking.
