“You know, if we weren’t in present company, then I might just do that,” she began in the same hissing gesture, thankful that Serena was just too busy checking over the two Bulbasaurs that were now apparently poking each other with their appendages. “Is that a challenge? Because if it is, you know I’m down for it,” she added before elbowing him once more and then turning their attention back to where Serena had finished the examination on the two Bulbasaurs that were now looking over at them in a state of general confusion.
“Is it too much to hope to attach a hidden camera on at least one of them…?” she began, a halfhearted attempt at a joke; but seeing that this was something they really couldn’t witness, she then shrugged before sighing. “You can stay here and talk more with him, okay?” she began again, giving her Bulbasaur a reassuring look, before looking away, hiding the crestfallen expression on her face. Over at where Ariadne was now sitting (and in the middle of batting Gustave’s vines away with her own) she then realized that her Trainer was feeling… a little down.
Without thinking, the female Bulbasaur then slowly but surely extended her appendage before tapping Izumi’s shoulder reassuringly.
The raven-haired girl was about to leave when she felt the light touch on her shoulder—which then made her stop and turn around. “Whatever happens out there… get back here alive, okay?” she remarked to her Bulbasaur, before excusing herself and leaving the laboratory, with a troubled look on her face.

The blonde grinned in Izumi's direction to her little hiss. This teasing between them had been a constant thing for the last little while, and it had only escalated over and over the more that they did it. Now it was getting daring. "Maybe it is a challenge" He would whisper into her ear again, mock seductively, with a charming smile. While it wasn't originally meant as an actual challenge, Izumi had taken it as such, and Josh wasn't one to just let an opportunity to tease her a little more slip by, so he rolled with it. Besides, what were the odds of her actually doing it, aye? He smirked and elbowed her right back in response, chuckling over at her. "If you really wanna take that challenge, then we'll see about that later" He would tease, perhaps taking it a little bit further then he had planned on.
Gustave meanwhile seemed to be having fun with batting Ariadne's vines back at her in response, and Josh let out a sigh when Izumi tried to make one more halfhearted attempt to see it. "Nah, they would notice that" He said. "It'd fuck up the entire festival. And then they might never evolve" He said.
Gustave would stop as Ariadne would comfort Izumi, and Josh pulled Izumi into a hug. "You DO realize that I've been waiting for a few weeks now, right? We don't know when the festival is" Josh would explain. "Seriously, don't go giving Ariadne her parting words yet. We don't know when it is. Just that it pops up every once in awhile"
"Of course.." Serena would interject as she walked over. "I would at least leave Ariadne here for the night to rest, after just having the trigger start, I'm sure she's exhausted" She said. "She'll be fine, of course. Just has to rest. I'd like for Gustave to stay here too, I need to do a checkup" She said, looking over at Josh, who would nod. "Aww, damn. We were going to start training again today" Josh would interject, disappointed. Serena would stare over at her son with a disapproving scowl. Oh god, here comes stern Serena. "Young man, you have been traveling almost nonstop for quite some time, without coming home for more then a small span. And when you're home, you train your damn Pokemon like it's your job!"
"... But it is my job-" Josh would begin to interject but Serena wasn't having any of it. "Nah uh. The BOTH of you are going to rest for today, while I do the checkup on your Bulbasaurs. You're not going to last very long in your training without a break, and neither are your Pokemon. You just got back an hour ago, and SHE just got here a few minutes ago. For god sakes, take the rest of the day to rest and I'll have your Bulbasaurs taken care of in the morning" She snapped. Josh was horrified, but looked over at Izumi and nodded, before looking back at Serena. ".... Yes mom" He said as he would lead Izumi out of the lab.
"... Holy hell" He muttered as they walked out. "I know she cares, but when she REALLY cares, she gets really shrill" He said. "Sorry that you had to see that. She means well, but.. Yeah" He said, scratching his head. "Listen, let's do as she says and just relax for the day. Then we can start training our Bulbasaurs again in the morning to prep them for their evolution. I'm sure they could use it after their ordeals lately" He said.

She was already at the entranceway to the lab when she heard the sudden outburst, and couldn’t help but snicker to herself—that was the very first time she’d heard Serena go off on Josh like that. She knew that he was going to try and argue his way out of having his Bulbasaur taking a rest, but down went the foot that apparently also held the laws of the laboratory to the letter.
Izumi could only chuckle as quietly as she could—that was, until she felt his presence beside hers again as the blonde-haired Trainer then made his way out of the place as well. “She… she really went down on you, hard,” she remarked quietly, once they were out of earshot. “Lucky my mom doesn’t go off on me like that. She just… has her way with things…” she added with a rather apprehensive look in her eyes.
Now that the potentially embarrassing situation had been skimmed and glossed over, she then turned back to face him, and then said, “What, so we’re just going to wake up one day and find that our Bulbasaurs have left? It feels kind of strange not being there to witness the evolution itself—I mean, we’ve seen our ‘mons evolve so many times, it became a thing that we’d naturally expect,” while waving a hand around in the air for emphasis. “Shame we can’t follow them, even out of sight. Hell, I was actually pondering if it was possible to send my Sora after Ariadne in secret, tailing her and Gustave when they do go to the garden… but I doubt that’s even possible,” she ended with a half-assed attempt at a smile, before looking out the window.

Josh would roll his eyes when Izumi would ridicule him for being yelled at by his mother. He knew she cared, he wasn't stupid. He just wished she wasn't so... Adamant about it. Of course, Izumi got stern talking tos from her mother too, she had no right to talk. "Now, should we go on about the baby pictures again?" Josh would inquire toward Izumi with a small smirk. "And of course, I'll take that challenge" He would crack when they stepped outside. "By the looks of it, we're just going to find them as Ivysaur one day. No explanation to it. We'll probably never know they're gone" He said. "Come on, let's go have the day to ourselves" He said as he would start tickling her playfully....
Later that night, with Josh and Izumi both sleeping in the separate guest rooms, with Lightning sleeping beside his Trainer. Lightning's ears would perk up and he would leap out of bed, peeking into the hallway... And noticing the two Bulbasaur exiting the lab and heading outside. Lightning would quickly sneak to Izumi's guestroom, trying to shake her awake. "Pika..." He spoke softly, trying to raise her. Not enough time. ".... Pika.... CHUUUUUUUUUUU!" He would let out as he would zap Izumi with thunderbolt to wake her up. Before Izumi could strangle him, Lightning was gone. He had gone back to Josh's room to...
"Pika.... CHUUUUUUUUUUUU!"
Within a minute or so, a sleepy Josh would walk out of his room, stepping into the hallway, fully dressed and trying to fix his hair after it was electrocuted. "Pika-Pi!" Lightning would let out, pointing toward the open lab door, then to the front door. "Wait... What's going on?" Josh asked Lightning, tilting his head.

“Yeah, let’s just make the most of it, nothing else we can do but to just let this happen naturally,” she began in a quieter voice—before proceeding to jab him once again with an elbow. “You mention those pictures one more time, and I will lock you up in a closet, buster!” she hissed his way, before aiming to give Josh a proper clouting on the head—that was just the one thing that she could not bear to be mentioned, regardless of time, circumstance—or present company. “I don’t want to remember that disastrous episode from my childhood,” she hissed, before quickly attempting to duck out of the tickling attempt that he was launching on her!
That evening…
Unlike Josh, who was comfortably stationed in one of the beds located in several of the guest rooms that were scattered around the place that his mother called ‘home’, Izumi was having a hard time trying to catch some shut-eye. She’d unsuccessfully tried to feign sleeping or even closing her eyes for a moment and just not thinking about anything— when a sudden flash of light lit up the room she was in and she felt herself getting zapped. Of course, this just happened to trigger something rather bad. Something that she hadn’t seen in quite a while… right then and there, as the Thunderbolt had zapped her into a fitful state of alertness, she saw… images, flashing through her mind.
She couldn’t make heads nor tails of most of what she saw, but the little shock was more than enough to make her bolt right out of the bed and attempt to catch the source of what had zapped her awake; but ultimately finding nothing around. Wondering what had just happened, she then pulled herself out of bed before stumbling out into the corridor, still in her night clothes (a worn-down black shirt with a faded kiss imprint and a pair of cotton pajamas) and saw that the Scruffinator was fully-dressed and trying to fix his bed hair. “Wh-what’s goin’ on?” she began, rubbing her eyes before trying to get a look around.
“What time is it…?” she continued before letting out a yawn and looking around rather sleepily, trying to figure out what those fuzzy images were…
WORDS 379 TAGSJosh Dragomir NOTESMaybe zapping her with Thunderbolt was a bad idea. Cue horrific flashbacks she can't... "remember".

"Pictures~"
-----------------------------------
Josh had started to walk toward the door when Izumi would walk over, still in her kissy kissy PJs. He would look over at her and crack his neck. "No, before you ask, this isn't bedhead. Lightning woke me up with Thunderbolt" The blonde would interject before she could speak. Once she gave her questions, he would take a breath. "It's early morning. I don't know what's wrong, but something's the matter with Lightning" He would explain. "So what's going on, Lightning?" He would inquire toward the Pikachu. "Pika-Pi!" Lightning would address Josh, heading toward the lab area. Josh would nod toward Izumi and follow, and the sight he saw.... Oh no.
"Shit! Izumi, Gustave and Ariadne are gone!" Josh exclaimed, looking back toward Izumi. He was right, the lab door had been opened and the two Bulbasaur had disappeared into the night. "Pika!" Lightning would let out and head out the door. "Come on, I think he knows where they're going!" Josh would call toward Izumi. It seemed he had completely forgotten, in the adrenaline of things, that it was possible that Gustave and Ariadne had left for... You know what. It had not occurred to him that it would happen so soon. So of course, he was worried sick about Gustave as Lightning would bolt through the ranch. Lightning seemed to have a trace of their scent, but would stop and wait for them when they got to the borders of the ranch. "Looks like they're not just out for an early morning stroll" Josh would comment, looking back at Izumi. "I hope they're alright. It's best we tail them just to make sure" He said as Lightning would nod over to them and hop over the fence, heading into the wilds as Josh would climb over the fence and follow.

She could only stare at him in her half-asleep state, before his words struck a chord deep within her—that forced her awake with a start. “Say WHAT?!” she began, blinking and rubbing her eyes as best as possible, before quickly looking for her slippers and slotting her feet into them. Once she’d done so, the now-awake Trainer then followed him down and out of the house—before the cold weather bit and nipped at her. “Shit, that’s cold,” she remarked, rubbing her exposed arms before watching as he then made towards the boundaries of the Ranch, still trying to keep up with them. “Damn it…” she gritted through chattering teeth, before quickly giving a single, sharp, whistling note.
She was wondering what was taking so long—when a shape suddenly came soaring in from out of the early-morning sky, before coming to a stop in front of her—it was her Braviary, Sora. “Sorry if I woke you up early… but… follow Josh!” she remarked, before pointing at his scurrying shape and then quickly hopping astride the avian. Once the Brav had taken off noiselessly, she then proceeded to follow him from up above, still stretching her hands in an attempt to shake off the sleepiness that was welling up within her. “Sora, keep track of him down on the ground,” she said as quietly as she could; and the Brav then changed its flight pattern, in order to keep an eye on the figure that was weaving his way through the trees, back on the ground.

It seemed that Izumi had decided to take to the air. As most of Josh's Pokemon were asleep, he would have no help now besides Lightning, who was leading the way. "Cripes Lightning, you're going way too fast!" Josh would remark toward the Pikachu who was bolting into the woods. Izumi would have a bit of trouble seeing them from above, and would have to go down below a little more to find them within the trees. Josh would look up at Izumi, wishing he'd used Ace to keep up, but he knew Ace was likely still asleep in the trees somewhere. For a loyal bird, Ace needed his sleep still. And he wouldn't disturb that for his own means, it was part of the respect between he and his Pokemon.
Finally, Lightning would come to a stop in front of some kind of wall. But it was a wall of weird looking vines... Brown in color, very odd from the traditional green. Josh would stop at the wall and raise an eyebrow. "Now, how're we going to get past this?" Josh would inquire, scratching the back of his head. "Pika..." Lightning groaned, pointing at it, as if indicating that the Bulbasaur were in there.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Mar 26, 2015 8:06:31 GMT -5
Apparently Josh might’ve missed the little fact that the Braviary line had rather keen eyesight; and could easily spot their targets on the ground—even if they were rather high up. She could only chuckle to herself as the avian followed the weaving pattern that Josh and Lightning were taking through the trees; thankfully her Braviary was a very early riser! “Sorry for putting up with me so early in the morning, Sora,” she began as quietly as she could manage, before leaning forward. “But you know? Thanks for waking up really early. No, seriously,” she continued, before giving the Brav a rather affectionate feather-tickling session, and hearing the avian squawking with glee as he followed the two from up above.
It didn’t take too long before the figures he was keeping track of back on the ground came to a stop—abnormally, the vines that Josh and Lightning had spotted on the ground extended up to even the highest point in the canopy, so all Izumi (and Sora) could see after a certain point was a bunch of brown vines that seemingly formed a protective dome; and she could only guess what was behind it.
“Well, shit,” she began, before gently urging her Brav to fly down; as close as he could without having to land. Eventually she then came to a hovering height not too far behind him, before hissing his way. “Silly. Eagles have very sharp eyes, so I didn’t have to follow you through the trees…” she began, before seeing the brown vines snaking upwards from the ground, up to the point they’d seen from the sky just moments earlier.
“What do you think this is?” she remarked, indicating the mass of vines that seemingly spread out in all directions, now that she was looking at it from a rather different angle.
WORDS 306 TAGSJosh Dragomir NOTESYou underestimate my Sora's eyesight!

He was keenly aware that Braviary had good eyesight. That still didn't mean shit if you had TREES IN YOUR FIELD OF VISION. Alas, they would come to the wall, which she couldn't get past even with her Braviary it seemed. He would look over at Izumi, who hadn't bothered to land. "So you caught up, but are still on your bird since you're too slow to walk?" He would tease, sticking his tongue out at her with a smirk. "But, the question is.. How are we going to get past this thing?" He would ask as he walked over to the vines. They almost had an aura of... Sentience. But he supposed it was probably just him being paranoid.
"There has to be a weakness within these somehow.. Somewhere...." He began as he would reach out and try to feel within the vines for a weak spot. But as soon as he touched them, the wall would suddenly clear away, with all the brown, obviously sentient vines suddenly whipping around like crazy and attacking them all!
"Crap! Run!" Josh would call as Lightning would climb onto his shoulder and they would dart through where the wall had just been, trying to get through despite getting whipped over and over by giant brown sentient vines. "Hurry up, Izumi!" Josh would call out as he ran.

“Just because I didn’t hop off Sora, that automatically makes me ‘lazy’. I, in fact, have a perfectly good reason to stay astride him rather than hopping down onto the ground…” she began—when the wall of brown vines suddenly sprang to life and suddenly snaked out like a multi-headed creature, before rearing up and lashing out at them! “Oh, shit,” she began, before hearing her Brav suddenly squawk out of shock as well. “WHAT DID I TELL YOU ABOUT TOUCHING THE OBVIOUS TRAPS?! LOOK WHAT YOU DID!” she screeched at the top of her voice, before quickly placing a hand on Sora’s back and then shouting, “About-face and Tailwind! Hurry!”
“BRAV!” she heard her avian squawk, making a quick, sharp turn before suddenly putting on a burst of speed—as the vines continued to lash out and snap at them. “RUN FASTER!” she shouted in Josh’s direction, before quickly pointing upwards. “Sora, think you can outrun those things?!” she continued in her panicky voice; before the Brav suddenly ascended at a sharp angle. “Go, GO!” she urged, petting the back of his neck and feeling the burst of wind suddenly rip and roar all around them—a portion of the vines that were chasing Josh back on the ground suddenly snaked upwards and attempted to swat the airborne Izumi from her perch. “Higher, higher!” she continued, urging her Braviary to fly faster.
This command, the avian complied to; letting out a screech of delight as he was finally allowed to go at full power without any restrictions! “BRAAAAAAAAV!” the Flying-type screamed at the top of his voice, going full-throttle and whizzing through the air, and as the raven-haired Trainer looked down behind her, the vines had stopped at a certain height, snapping and gnashing against the limit that it had reached.

"YEAH, YEAH, I KNOW, FUCK YOU" Josh would yell back at Izumi as he would flee full speed through the forest as he was whipped over and over by the large brown vines, with Izumi behind him on her Braviary. Eventually, they would escape and the vines would stop. Josh would groan from the bruises and welts all over his body from being whipped over and over. "I think we got past them..." He would huff, motioning for Izumi to hop down from the Braviary once he noticed a cliff overlooking some kind of clearing...
"No more flying. I think they're in there..." Josh would whisper to Izumi as he would make his way to the cliff, Lightning walking alongside him. "Whoaa..." He whispered softly once they made their way to the cliff. Down below, in the clearing, was a beautiful garden, with flowers blooming all over the place... And between the flowers, were an entire army of Bulbasaur. They were all.... Singing. It was like a singing cabbage patch or something, but there were Bulbasaur everywhere, singing some kind of song.
"This must be the mysterious garden..." Josh would whisper toward Izumi. "Pika..." Lightning would let out softly, in awe. "Hey! Is that..." Josh began as he pointed down below, seeming to recognize two Bulbasaur among them. "That's them!" He said softly. "That's Gustave and Ariadne!" He would let out, trying to remain quiet. "I... Think it's best we stay here. We don't want to inturrupt their festival" Josh would speak quietly toward Izumi.

Once Izumi (as well as Sora) had managed to wiggle their way out of the “attack of the sentient bark-colored vines” that had threatened to snap at them, she then heard Josh calling out to her; before slowly easing her Braviary to glide down for a quick hover—before finally hopping off and flinching at the rather muddy landing. She could only sigh, before quickly realizing that she didn’t have her Brav’s containment unit with her!
Well, shit. How the hell am I going to keep him quiet now? she thought with a cross look furrowing her eyebrows as she then slowly and quietly followed the taller Trainer as he wove through the undergrowth. She then turned to face her now-walking Flying-type and touched a finger to her lips; the universal sign for ‘silence’ as she followed him too.
It didn’t take too long before they’d reached a cliff, and she could only stare as her companion had the balls to actually look over the sheer edge. What he saw had definitely blown him away, because she could hear his rather awed tones wafting over to where she stood—and curiosity got the better of her too; she then decided to inch over to where he stood and caught sight of the beauty that had bloomed far below.
“Whoa…” she began in a hushed tone, seeing that there was a rather…large number of Bulbasaur that had converged in the single area where they were… “Is this the Garden you told me about?” she whispered back, before turning around and seeing that her Brav had also shuffled forward for a better look; and could only stare at it in awe. “Shhh. Don’t make any loud noises, Sora,” she added in an undertone, as she then followed the sight that her companion had picked out—he’d managed to identify their Bulbasaurs amongst the mass!
Looks like we do get our wish granted, after all… she thought with a smirk as she continued to watch the little ‘ritual’ taking place below in silent wonder.

It was true, they really had found the Mysterious Garden. Serena had told them that they would not see the Bulbasaur evolve, and Josh had believed her. Who knew that fate would bring them to the Garden completely by accident? Josh had forgotten about the plan not to tail them, but that was because they had left the Ranch so soon, without an inch of warning. He had assumed that Gustave would have probably gone to him to say goodbye first. I mean, why wouldn't he? It'd be the last time that Josh would have seen Gustave as a Bulbasaur, and he wouldn't have recognized Gustave as an Ivysaur. He would have put something on Gustave so that he would recognize him when he came home, like a bandana or something. The singing cabbages would continue their song, and Josh would smile as he sat down on the grassy cliff, which actually turned out to be the top of a steep hill as Josh peered down at it, deciding to relax as Lightning would hop off his shoulder and sit beside him to watch the festivities.
Before long though, Josh could hear the ground beginning to shake. "Hm? What's that?" Josh would whisper toward Izumi as the ground would tremble... Before the giant tree in the middle of the meadow would suddenly open, and a Venusaur would step out, taking it's place on a large stump that served as a pedestal.
"SAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUR!" Venusaur would let out, followed by a "SAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUR!" By the Bulbasaur in attendance, including Gustave.
"What in the world..." Josh would whisper, curious about this ceremony...
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Apr 4, 2015 9:20:51 GMT -5
Izumi had gotten too preoccupied with watching the ceremonies down below, she very nearly missed the ground shaking underneath her—it was only when Sora had started poking her with his beak did she realize that there was something going on far below. “Hm?” she began, looking down as curiously as the Braviary then proceeded to point with one of his outstretched wings, before poking down at some annoying feathers that were being absolutely bothersome.
“Oh…” she trailed off, seeing the humongous…thing that had seemingly emerged from the split tree, before ascending to the stump and calling out to all the assembled Bulbasaur with a commanding tone. Well, it wasn’t a roar, more like it was a grunt of acknowledgment—at least to her. “Whoa… that is one huge-ass…” she muttered out of silent wonder, staring down at the ceremony below, absolutely transfixed.
Down at where the Bulbas were now chanting in unison, a particular one couldn’t help but feel rather…antsy. It was Ariadne, and she couldn’t help but shake off the feeling that there was someone else watching them, asides from this humongous Venusaur that was now leading them in some kind of song.
After she’d called out along with the chorus, she then began looking around, before finally spotting Gustave some ways away; and was about to make her way towards where he stood when the Venusaur called out over their heads once more, and her thoughts were interrupted.
