She knew that he’d pick up on any tidbit she’d let on, and was actually trying to test the waters; see if he was going to react strangely to anything else that she was going to be talking about. She then kept herself busy by slowly but surely wrapping the remaining stretch of bamboo frame with the green thing that really looked like it came from a Christmas Tree; before finally managing to completely turn the frame into an actual, respectable-looking wreath.
“Well, then,” she began, reaching for the small wire cutters provided and tying off the entire thing; before lashing it together with some of the wire and binding it all together. Now she had an actual wreath; however the flowers had to be dealt with! “Erk, okay, time to select the flowers and decorate this thing…” she remarked, before reaching into the paper bag and extracting some thinner, green wire and finding that there was a small pair of shears in it as well.
“Wow, they really gave us everything. Just follow the directions and use it all,” she commented, quickly reaching for her bundle of flowers and carefully selecting them, snipping off the longer ends and then poking them into the greenery, while holding them in place with the wire. “Wait a second… the fuck, we’re supposed to put candles on this thing and then set it afloat?” she muttered, grabbing the small piece of paper and inspecting the bag’s contents again—and true enough, there were two small rounded tins that had wax and a wick.
“Hey, J, you have a lighter or something on you?” she asked a few moments later, finally laying bare the candles that had been buried in the paper bag of materials. “We got to make sure the entire thing doesn’t sink…” she continued, looking at the wreath quite critically—was it even going to float, the way she’d constructed it?

Josh had found the wording... Rather odd, but didn't call her out on it. He would joke about it in time, of course. But for now... He'd just build to it. "Well then, when do you want to go to the hot springs again so I can see you in a swimsuit?" He would joke cheekily toward her, knowing full well that it would catch Izumi fully off-guard. "We haven't gone in quite some time. It's a shame that there isn't any hot springs in Nue though" He would add. They had finally gotten to the stage where they could lay on the finishing touches, most importantly; the flowers themselves.
Then Izumi brought up candles and Josh raised an eyebrow. Both he and the Pikachu, at the exact same time, turned to look at Izumi with an odd look. When she mentioned a lighter, he would nod. "Yeah, catch, don't set the wreath on fire" Josh said as he would pull out a lighter and toss it to her. With that, he would get back to what he was doing... He would handle the candles in a bit.

“Are you challenging me to go skinny-dipping in the hot springs?! ‘Cause you know that people have a certain limit when it comes to public baths,” she began, subtly reminding him that the hot springs over in Lavaridge just happened to be vacant the last time they’d gone in. She wasn’t sure about the climate of Shui’s hot springs resort area, but she’d definitely give it a second look once she’d gotten a few days off from managing the Izakaya—there was a sudden upswing in the number of orders for special occasions, and the kitchen was literally in an ‘all hands on deck’ alert due to the sheer size of the order they’d gotten in just last week. She’d told the people manning the kitchen to send her updates if ever they ran into any problems; but thankfully there were none. Yet.
The little lighter came soaring through the air, and with her left hand currently the unoccupied and not so busy hand, she caught it as deftly as she could manage—with the lighter very nearly slipping out of her grip too. She then nodded as she’d caught it before turning her attention back to the little tea-light candles (as she only then recognized what kind of candles they were) and attempted to affix them to the wreaths that she was working on. “Check your paper bags… I’m pretty sure they slipped in some candles too…” she muttered as she continued attaching and selecting more red blooms to the wreath—it was really starting to take shape now.
She’d made a mental note to leave behind some space for the candles—because from what the little diagram on the piece of paper showed, the candles should be set at an equal distance across each other on the finished product, and she was not trying to figure out just how to accomplish that without making her wreath sink.

This Trainer found humor in Izumi's words, and he laughed a bit when she would bring up the prospect of skinny dipping. Okay, now she was definitely teasing him, he thought. "Why yes, I would love to see you skinny dipping in the hot springs, Zuzu" He would joke, snarking her right back. "Anytime you want" He would crack. Cripes, at this point, people would think they were dating already with all the jokes going back and forth? Could almost put "Property Of Izumi" on him and people would believe it. It was hard to tell sometimes that Josh was still a bachelor. Alas, the blonde had his jokes, but they weren't going to finish this wreath for him!
Josh would nod to Izumi's tips and check the paper bag. And hence, there they were. Candles, just enough for Josh and Lightning. He would hand some to Lightning to use in his own as he would begin placing them...

Izumi knew that somewhere, out on a secret spot in the Wilds (that not even Josh knew about) someone would be rolling over in his grave by this point in time—she’d taken a piece of what was left of her former flame, and had buried it somewhere in the vast expanse of land. He’d already told her to move on, and here she was, doing what he’d asked her to, but why on earth was this shampoo commercial model making things hella more difficult than they already were?
The fact that she’d noticed that he was flirting again in her way was definitely a sign. Most of, if not all of the people who knew the two had actually assumed that they were together ‘together’, meaning dating exclusively; sadly this was not the case as they all believed. She was still single, and was now gathering up the courage to just…fucking confess her feelings.
However, for the past few times her attempts had been definitely been thwarted in one way or another—was it because she had bad timing? Who could tell? In any case, she then stole a glance over his way when he’d made that cheeky remark about her little skinny-dipping comment; and felt her own ears burning in embarrassment. She then continued to decorate the wreath with her chosen blossoms, before finally securing the last of them with the green wire and wrapping them all in place, hissing as the wire was digging into her fingers.
“Ouch. Stupid wire…” she muttered, suddenly drawing back and displaying an almost-completed wreath—missing the candles. She then began to suck on one of her fingers; as it had gotten pricked by some stray wiring—and tasted something rusty on her tongue. “Crap,” she muttered as she took out the injured finger and examined it—it was bleeding!
“Well, guess my wreath-making skills need improvement too. I’m injured,” she cracked, showing him the finger that now had a bead of slowly-growing blood forming on it.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Feb 6, 2015 10:58:07 GMT -5
It was a given that Izumi would not be able to "Let It Go" when it came to her old flame at this point. Luckily, she said nothing out loud, and Josh didn't make any "Cordelia" jokes. Josh's thoughts, meanwhile, were elsewhere. Well, sort of. They were on Izumi, and all they'd been through since they'd met. They'd been through so much together... And there would be much more to come in time, he knew. And hey, she wasn't bad looking... Right?
Josh's thoughts were interrupted by Izumi mentioning she'd gotten injured. Peering over, Josh saw the blood soaked finger and out a sigh. "Oh damnit, Izumi" He said, shaking his head. "You have to be careful!" He scolded as he would scoot over to examine it before getting out some bandaging. The blonde would quickly get to work on wrapping Izumi's "injury" up rather quickly, not wanting to have her lose too much blood. It was a relatively minor injury, but it did show that he cared.
And with that finished, he eyed her and shook his head with a smirk. "Try to be careful, will ya? I don't want you turning into a human pincushion with these damned wreaths" He teased playfully, flicking her forehead teasingly before getting back to working on his own wreath.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Feb 7, 2015 8:54:16 GMT -5
She could only guess as to where he’d gotten the bandages—most likely he travelled with a small first-aid kit, but who really knew? In any case, she then blinked, before outright staring at his reaction; he’d suddenly dropped his wreath and rushed over to where she was, before applying a quick fix to the part that was bleeding out. “Don’t worry, it’s far from any vital spots, but…all the same,” she trailed off, feeling her face flush a shade of pink that normally only went out whenever she was caught in an embarrassing situation…like this one. At his words, she then quickly nodded, before muttering, “Yeah, yeah, I will… I’ll be careful next time… who knew that you’re such a fussy person when it comes to injuries like this?” before reaching up with her other hand and giving him something what he called a ‘noogie’ in return.
“Well, get cracking, we don’t have all afternoon in finishing our wreaths… I just have to add the candles to mine before getting the wishing paper and writing out whatever I want to add before setting this afloat when sunset comes…” she said a few moments later; but still, she was thankful for the gesture that he’d done. “And don’t worry, there’s no way in hell I’m going to turn into a pincushion just because some dinky little wreath injured a finger of mine, I was just a bit careless with the wiring. I must’ve forgotten to tuck it in,” she continued, this time gingerly picking up her almost-done masterpiece and affixing the two candles on the two spots she’d left bare of blossoms; the better so that the overall effect looked nice when they were finally lit.
“I hope this thing doesn’t sink. But eh, they gave us bamboo in order to make sure it floats, so I doubt it…” she trailed off, affixing first one candle, then the other on opposite sides of the wreath.

Just as Izumi thought, Josh always carried that sort of thing around. Why the hell would he not? I mean, he was a traveling Pokemon Trainer. Wandering the wilderness. He was bound to suffer a few injuries himself, as were his Pokemon. Learning first aid was an obvious thing to do when training to be a Pokemon Trainer a long time ago. If he didn't have that knowledge... Well, to be quite frank; he would be f-u-c-k-e-d to the ninth degree. "Oh shush" Josh teased, smirking over at her. "Yeah, I'm fussy when it comes to your health and safety. I care about you. What about it?" He would ask, putting the stuff away once he'd fixed her, smirking from her noogie, fixing his hair rather quickly, much faster then expected, almost as if a simple brush over was enough to fix his hair, before giving her a wrap-the-arm-around-before-giving-a-noogie right back, laughing a bit as he did.
Josh would nod and get back to work, putting on the candles and working on finishing touches, before helping Lightning with his own. Just needed the bamboo now... But they were running out of time!

Unfortunately, Izumi didn’t travel with a first-aid kit, well at least not until recently. She always had her note pad and pen on-hand though, if in case she wanted to jot something down and keep a record of it for later. If ever she’d go on extended hikes, then that would be the only time that she would bail out the whole ten yards. Most of her traversing through the ‘old world’ mostly involved her going around the well-worn paths; the ones recognized by travelers and Trainers alike, so that was the difference between herself and Josh over here. In any case, she felt her ears burn at his words—did he really mean it or was he just fooling around? Whether or not it was true remained to be seen; and she then caught sight of Lightning’s little lantern—their own lanterns were already done; but the Lightning Mouse’s was still a work in progress!
Seeing that Josh was now assisting Lightning with the little wreath—she decided to do the same; quickly snapping up the remaining pieces of bamboo and gently helping the Pikachu construct his own wreath together. This brought her to extremely close proximity to him, who was already hunched over, working with Lightning as well in order to cobble together the small wreath that they were working on. As she looked up, she noticed that the sky wasn’t that blue anymore; rather it was starting to acquire an orangeish tinge due to being so late in the afternoon at that point. “Crap, be right back, I have to get the wishing paper form the booth over there,” she trailed off, quickly standing up and then skirting her way through the gathering crowd; most of them already had completed wreath and were just waiting for the official event to kick off.
After managing to acquire several sheets of paper, she then fought and wound her way back through the crowd once again; and arrived at where Josh and Lightning were still tossing the Pika’s wreath together. “Phew, here… get your wish written on the paper and let’s get ready to join everyone. They’re mostly done with their stuff…” she ended, settling down near the two and reaching for a pen she always had on her person no matter the occasion. She then pondered on what she wanted to wish for; and after making sure that he was busy helping the Pikachu, quickly scribbled it in her second language instead of making it readable to her companion. Some wishes must remain a secret, after all.

"Alright" Josh would respond to Izumi's mention of having to grab the wishing paper. They were running out of time, he knew, and they had to hurry! He didn't know why Izumi had neglected to grab them earlier though... Regardless, the blonde was quite busy. He had managed to finish up his own wreath, but Lightning's still needed to be done. Before long, Lightning's was done as well, and Izumi would return with the wishing paper. She would emerge from the crowd and Josh would look up at her. "Bout time, Zuzu" He teased with a cheeky grin. "We're done here. Just need the wishy washy paper and we're all set"
Josh would wait for Izumi to scribble first, before taking the pen and scribbling something down... Of course, he didn't let Izumi see what it was, since she'd decided to write hers in Shui language. And then he got to helping Lightning. One problem, the Pikachu didn't know English. Josh would take Lightning's paw and have him grasp the pen, putting it to the paper. "Alright Lightning, just... Write down whatever scribbles constitute your wish on the paper" He said with a smirk. Lightning didn't know how to do that, but writing his wishes somehow was great! "Pikapikapikapikapikapikapikachu~" Lightning would chirp joyfully as he would start scribbling. It wasn't legible, nor was it English. But it was the Pikachu's wishes on paper... Scribbles or not. Josh, meanwhile, thought this was the most adorable thing he had ever seen.
With that done, Josh would make sure both wish papers were set properly to the wreaths. "Let's go join them, Zuzu" He said as he would hand Lightning's wreath to him, and take his own in his arms.

Now that she’d already folded up her wish paper and had secured it to the wreath in such a way that it wouldn’t be blown away (or burned) once the hand-made wreaths were set afloat, she then noticed that Josh had also hid his paper—but what really got her attention was that once it was time for the Pikachu to write something down, he’d literally encouraged Lightning to scribble…whatever it was that he wanted to wish for on the paper! Even if it was just a jumble of lines going in all random directions, she knew that only the Pika could understand what it was. After helping fold up the paper for the Lightning Mouse’s wreath, she then watched with mild surprise as he took the lead this time, holding his own wreath in his hands.
“Come on, let’s go…” she continued, stealing a glance at the skies; and seeing that the reddish-orange was more prominent than ever. There was a trickle of people that were slowly but steadily gathering at the lake’s shores; and some of them were already traversing the path barefoot—were they going to have to wade out into the shallows or would it be okay to set the wreaths down at the shore, she’d forgotten to check; but as she continued down towards where the majority of people were headed, she then muttered in his direction, “Welp, guess some of them are going to wade in up to their knees to set their wreaths afloat…” before checking what kind of footwear she had on. She then sighed; because taking her boots off was going to be one hell of a chore.
She then came to a stop near the shore; where the water was lapping away—most of the participants were hesitant going barefoot into the water; but what better way to set the wreath afloat than to go in as far as it was safely allowed? “Alright, wait here…” she began, crouching down and setting her wreath down, before quickly undoing the laces that held her boots in place; before finally managing to kick them off. She then unrolled the socks as well; before stuffing them into the gaping opening that her boots made.
Now that she was barefoot, she then continued to roll up her jeans up as far as it could go; before checking that they were secure. “Alright… I’m game. How about you?” she continued, looking over to her two companions, scooping up her wreath in her hands.

Once they were finished with Lightning's wish paper, and prepping it along with putting it on the wreaths, Josh would nod toward Izumi once they were packed up and ready. "Yeah, we're ready to go" Josh said. "Pikachu~" Lightning would chirp as well, seeming happy about these developments. The Pikachu had obviously had just as much fun as Josh and Izumi had. That was good, he was glad. Now, just to go and place them in the water.
Oh, right. They had to go a bit deeper into the water than expected. Josh would let out a sigh, before nodding when Izumi would point it out and begin unfashioning her boots. Josh would follow suit, untying his own boots and leaving them to rest nearby. "Shoulder" Josh would suggest toward Lightning, who seemed to understand as he would climb onto Josh's shoulder, with his wreath in his arms. "Alright, Izumi. Let's go" He said, taking a breath as he would slowly tread into the water, knowing Izumi was nearby. He'd let her choose how far they'd go...

She then watched as the Pika hopped onto his shoulder, and she could only wonder—just how did he get used to carrying the Lightning Mouse around on his shoulder without his center of gravity tipping off to one side, she would never understand. She then cracked a grin, before addressing him again, “You know you’re going to have to carry Lightning after you set yours afloat…” and then proceeding to wade into the surf. The waters were beginning to be crowded with people who were now lighting their candles on the wraths before letting them float out to the horizon. She continued to walk forward as slowly as she could—the cold water bringing relief to her skin. Izumi knew that she still had traces of the weird red lesions on her legs that were racing upwards (or was it downwards, she could never tell) after a certain crazy event that she couldn’t recall at all…
“Alright, I think this is far enough,” she continued, coming to a stop at a point where the water was now lapping at her knees. “Everyone else stopped right here, so I guess this is safe…?” she added, setting down the wreath gently and holding it with one hand, before getting the lighter from her pocket and flicking it open. Once there was a small flame, she then held the flame as close to the candle wick as possible, before swiftly lighting both candles and then letting her completed wreath sail out, to join the other wreaths that were now being carried away by the currents towards the horizon. “Here, catch,” she remarked, quickly chucking the lighter towards Josh, hoping he was quick enough to catch it before it fell into the water!
She then turned around once more and faced the wreath, before clapping her hands together and making a wish in the back of her mind—the physical effect of this wish caused her own ears to burn a deep shade of crimson, so who could guess?!

Josh seemed to be alright with Lightning on his shoulder, and vice versa. Lightning had been Josh's shoulder buddy ever since he was a several week old Pichu. They had done it for so long that it was evident that Josh would be used to it and had absolutely no problem with it, no matter the circumstances. It would be weird when; if, he became a Raichu though...
"Yeah, I know" Josh said with a nod as he would follow Izumi into the water. "I'm totally fine with carrying him. He's not that heavy. I could probably carry several Lightnings" He would crack, laughing a bit. They waded into the surf to a certain degree, down to about Izumi's knees. Josh went a little further, his height allowing that of course. Almost a "Haw-Haw" to Izumi for the poor girl being so short.
"Alright, this is good" He would respond, smirking a bit as he would look back at Izumi and watch as she would light her candles, before tossing Josh the lighter. He smirked a bit, before carefully, taking extra care not to burn the wreath, as he would light his candles. "Pika! Pika! Pika-Pi!" Lightning would cry toward Josh, wanting his done too. "Alright, alright" Josh would respond with a laugh as Lightning would hold his little wreath toward him. Josh would make sure to be even more careful despite carrying the wreath in one hand, the lighter in the other. Once Lightning's was lit, he would put the lighter away. He would crouch down then, and Josh and Lightning at the same time would place their little wishboats in the water, watching as the current would take them far away, just behind Izumi's. Josh would smile a bit, closing his eyes and making a wish... Though the contents of that wish were not disclosed.
He would turn back to Izumi then and smirk, before walking toward her side and watching the wishboats drift away.

Izumi could only stick her tongue out at the six foot two individual; because she’d noticed that he’d waded out much deeper—almost near his waist, from the looks of things either he doesn’t mind his clothes getting wet or he’s trying to tell me something but I’m not seeing it, she mused as she then watched him lay his own wreath down into the water; before lighting it up and consequently helping the Pika’s with his own mini-wreath.
Soon after, there were three more wreaths floating away on the surface of the lake; before she watched him wade over back to where she stood, watching their wish wreaths floating away towards…who knew where?
It was at this point that most of the people were now making their way back to the shore, and she waited for her companion to join her. “I know I’m itching to ask you what you wished for; but they said that if you disclose your wish to anyone else it won’t come true. So I’ll avoid the question altogether… shall we head back to our place now?” she remarked once he was close enough.
She knew that the entire festival would end once all of the wish-wreaths had been set sail; and true enough back on the shore, people were starting to pack up and disassemble the booths that had been set up for the day. “Come on, I know you’re hungry or somethin’…” she ended, finally reaching the place where she’d slipped out of her boots; before slowly patting down her legs before placing her socks back on and cramming them into the boots that she normally wore.
