Olivia's perfectly formed brows, which she spent at least two hours getting done the day previous, scowled in disgust at what she saw as she entered the inn's "party" room. Bleak, off white, and smelling of pokemon repellent the room was definitely not up to the standards Olivia had requested. While she did understand the short notice issue, she had called in a few days before requesting five suites and for a entertainment room to be reserved, that didn't mean they couldn't at least try. The rooms themselves were mediocre at best and this... This was a catastrophe. She had requested holiday themed items to be put up and warm holiday colors to be used as the pattern for the table cloth and whatnot. A disappointed sigh escaped her lips as she set down the beautiful crafted vanilla cake with blue cream icing that said, Happy Holidays, Aqua. At least the small farming town could do one thing right, or rather the tiny bakery snuggled in between a farm supply center and pokecenter. The sweet aroma was drifting from the box and through the room, helping to alleviate the stench of pokemon repellent.
About two hours later, and quite a few trips to the local Pokemart, the room looked a tiny bit better. There were four santa hats set out around the table in front of each chair with crudely stitched names embedded with golden thread on them, deeming whose was whose. Olivia sat in her own chair with her hat on as well, and large barrel sat next to her. The cake was hidden underneath the box it had come in the center of the table along side a small plastic tree, and a cheap satin red table cloth laid underneath it. Olivia didn't do balloons, and instead had poinsettia's set up around the room. On one side of the small room was another table holding small finger foods along with two large bowls of punch. One labeled "Santa Juice" and the other "Elf Friendly", the brunette wasn't too sure whether everyone drank or not and wanted to be considerate if they didn't. A different side of the room held a stereo that had an audio cord connected to it in case anyone wanted to play their own music, with Olivia's permission of course. If not, steady holiday tunes flowed through the room.
One leg over another, Olivia swirled the alcoholic punch in her red solo cup and waited for the rest of her "elves" to arrive.

"Curious."
It was awfully curious. The smell, in particular, managed to seep into the winding fibers in the carpet after it realized that without proper ventilation, it wasn't going to escape to freedom any time soon. It killed some of the festive momentum Luella picked up from going wild with holiday lotions and scents like 'Winter Candy Apple', which wasn't a strong scent unless you poured the whole bottle all over you, but if she started sweating in the tacky elf costume she picked up, at least the rosey touch of winter would cover it up. She felt pretty tacky walking into the inn's party room dressed like she was ready to be Will Ferrell's love interest in that one Elf movie, all pink and saccharine like she was a bubble gum flavored candy cane on the branch of a Christmas tree, but here she was, elf hat, cheap elf ears that threatened to fall off whenever she turned her head, and two small presents that were carefully wrapped with layers and layers of tape upon tape. You'd need a good pair of scissors to crack these bad boys open, but Luella grinned at the thought of the challenge. Hey, after wrapping them up, it wasn't her problem any more. Good riddance.
Upon seeing the four Santa hats on the table, Luella was left with a small dilemma. Which hat was she supposed to wear? She liked her elf hat, because it was pink and matched the rest of her attire, but how could she reject a Santa hat? Tis the season! She promptly stuffed the baggy red hat over her pointy elf one, which made her Santa hat jump up and at attention like it had a stick up its--well, in a way it kind of did, but Luella was missing out on the floppy fun times.
Olivia wasn't too difficult to spot in the room either, and while Luella wasn't as familiar with her as some of the rest, that didn't stop her from greeting her with a smile. "Merry Christmas. It's so festive in here." It kind of felt like the holiday spirit drank a little too much liquor and decided to belch good cheer across the room. "I like it. Guess I'll start with some of that Santa Juice." Suuuure, she'd try her luck with it. She wasn't all that sure about where to put her crap, so she let her purse and boxes drop on the table to free her hands for a lil' drink and snack.
She felt horribly under dressed, given the occasion. Kailani had assumed that a holiday get together with her coworkers would just be like her old job at the seafood joint - a little get-together to eat a meal and swap some small presents with each other. Well, this year she brought more presents, of course, which were supposed to have been properly wrapped up and placed somewhere in that party room. Hopefully under a tree, if they had a tree - would they have a tree? It could be one of those fake trees, but disposing of those created a lot of unnecessary waste unless they kept it... what would they even do with a holiday tree for the rest of the year?
Kai tried to slip into the room, although it was hard to do given their few numbers. She was in a guady as hell christmas sweater - big, blue, and bunching up around her arms. It had a little image of santa on it that flashed on occasion! She thought it was festive and cute, so she decided that it would be her party attire. Upon seeing the pink elf outfit, she decided she was the least tacky, and let out a sigh of relief. She hefted the box under her arms - a tad heavy, but she was able to hip it onto the nearby table and smooth out the wrapping paper contained on it.
"Goodness! Sorry for almost being late, if I am, I got carried away with an early present from my folks." Sheepishly, she pulled the new-model Pokenav from her pockets, holding up the cerulean device. Now having a moment to stop and look around, she eyed the decorations, then her duo of elder members. "This is nice..."

White, button-up dress made of silk and lacy red embroidery, a pair of black high-heeled shoes that endowed her with grace and grandeur, and a cropped blazer to complete her outfit. Of course, Nerea was in no place for her formal attire to be truly appreciated. She was not going to give any speeches, or act the part of a celebrity she was not, today. Hopefully never again, really, but that was all she could hope. The woman who had been standing on her doorstep no more than a month ago, presenting herself as Olivia Mahgaden—leader for an organisation that, back then, she was barely acquaintanced with—was now the new judge of her fate, if only in that one aspect.
Nerea devoted a moment to take in her surroundings. This room she was entering felt startlingly like home. It looked like the walls had been painted white years ago, used once, and left to rot until now; it smelt like a mixture of bleach and, and something like vinegar, or citrus, or maybe even salt, perhaps. The room was evidently not at its best, and that was exactly why it reminded the redhead of her home. A quick scan of the room after this first impression revealed a table covered in red satin, with one big box and four red hats sitting on top of it; a similarly decorated, though definitely longer, table next to it; some strange machine of some sort; and one very bright, very fake Christmas tree a bit farther away. Nerea eyed this last item with suspicion as her heels clicked and clacked across the room, to the cosy table where already three of the five attendees were waiting.
"A sea of joy and best wishes," she greeted, softly, offering a court nod at each of the ladies at the table. Skipping the punch table altogether, and without further ado, she headed directly for the seat next to her brunette leader, a light blue box in hand. Nerea sat down noiselessly, as she was strictly taught to during her youth. She grabbed the curious red hat before her, not even stopping to read its hand-sewn label, only to primly reposition it on top of her lap. Or the box resting on top of her lap, to be more precise. "Lovely decorations," she then whispered, loud enough for Olivia—and quite possibly also the two other females—to hear, "though I may have a thing or two to say about our green-coloured friend."
[attr="id","ntes"]Awful quality, I know. I'm terribly sorry. Nerea is referring to the plastic tree, but misunderstandings are most welcome.

Apparently, the gang was supposed to exchange gifts today. Tommy wasn't really good at picking things out of people. Especially for girls. The only girl he ever gave a present to was his sister. And the present was a Shinx. He groaned while walking through a store, trying to figure out what any of the ladies wanted. It became painfully clear to him, on this specific day, that he was the only guy in the team. There was Jared, but that guy pretty much faded into the background. Much like he did when in neoAqua.
He bit his lip, seriously not knowing what to give. A Pokemon could be a good gift. But, he didn't want to part ways with any of them. Dammit all. He sighed, as he eventually picked one. He assumed this one would do well in another's hands. He didn't really have any use for it at the moment. It was just taking up space in his PC. But that was only one present. What about everyone else? "Oh well," he said, walking off to join the gang. They were apparently in an apartment room.
He arrived at the meeting area and was instantly greeted with bad smells and even worse surroundings. Tis the season to be lazy appears to be the motto for this place. It didn't bother him too much after he got used to it. He went up to the santa hats on the table and took the one marked for his name. "Merry Christmas, I guess," he said, gripping the Pokeball in his hand. He normally doesn't care whether or not people like his gifts, but this Christmas was different. He was giving a gift to his fellow Team Aqua member. If she hated it, he would be scorned for the rest of his time here.
He let out a sigh and started walking towards Nerea, but then turned towards the snacks. He was nervous.
The first of Olivia's merry little gang of elves popped into the room with a cheery attitude and a hat to match what Olivia thought of the people in Aqua during the holiday season. Upon seeing the hats Olivia had set out, the blonde woman, Luella, promptly put it atop her own hat and looked like a fool, earning a smile from Olivia. Her greetings were kind as well, and Olivia said the smile still plastered on her face, "Happy Holidays to you as well, dear. Go ahead and have at it, though it might be a bit strong." The brunette goddess tapped her left hand on the large barrel to her side as she took another swig of Santa Juice.
It wasn't long after Luella arrived that the next of her holiday themed gang entered, the dark haired girl's glasses balanced ever so carefully on the bridge of her nose and a rather large gift box at her hip. Kai smiled at the other two woman there and made some small talk before she went over to inspect the juices available. Not one to drink, the girl took some of the "elf friendly" punch and returned to her seat, donning her Santa hat. Olivia admired the girl's ability to escape her bubble of technology, knowing all too well she preferred the noises of machinery clinking together over that of human conversation.
The newest member of Olivia's sad bunch of elves made it to the event, her ethereal beauty still impressing Olivia even though it had been months since they met. Nerea, the Oracle of Slateport, analyzed the room with eyes that on one really knew what all they saw. The future? The past? The present? Either way, after a pause to thoroughly evaluate the room and greet them all with her strange wording, she took a seat next to Olivia. The fire headed girl commented on the fake tree in the room, a small smile crawling on Olivia's face at that, knowing all too well she wouldn't agree with it.
Finally, after what took about two or three cups of Santa Juice, the final elf arrived to the party. Not as holiday happy as the rest of the crew, he shuffled into the room looking like a boy forced into the girl's locker room. It wasn't far off, truth be told, considering was the only male invited to the party. Olivia had Jared and Blythe working on some... other stuff that she'd reveal to the rest of Aqua later. For now, though, it appeared Tommy was going to reveal something himself. He approached Nerea while she wasn't looking, nearly exposing his identity as her Secret Santa, before turning and heading for the snacks. Olivia released an internal sigh at that, and with everyone accounted for, stood up.
"Glad to see you all could make it to the party, sorry about the location and the cheap decorations, it was last minute and all." Olivia said, motioning to her surroundings and then the small plastic tree in the center of the table. She flashed a charming smile at her small Team around her, and lifted the heavy barrel onto the table and pulled the lid off, small parts of gifts able to be seen from the view of the others. Pulling out the first gift, a small bag with a scarcely clothed muscular Santa, Olivia handed it to Luella, the items within being one Pokeball containing a Relicanth, saying as she did so, "I guess you can call me Santa, everyone's Santa in fact." Pulling out a smaller bag than the first, this one made of silver silk, she placed it in front of Nerea with a smile. Inside there were multiple sea colored stones that Olivia had found along the beach of Slateport as a small child, believing them to be "special". Perhaps now they'd be special to someone else, and at the very least, give Nerea something to remind her of home.
The last gift she had required Olivia to reach deep within the barrel, producing a sheathed weapon of some sorta. The sheath itself was beautifully crafted, an image of the ocean molded into the metal, and extending from the sheath was the pommel, shaped eerily like an eye, and a blue fabric attached to the handle. The brunette woman approached Tommy, nervousness and all, and held out the weapon for him to take. Once Tommy would take hold of the weapon, the pommel would open, revealing it to be an eye and the cloth would wrap itself around Tommy. Olivia spoke in a grave hushed tone only Tommy could hear, her eyes taking on a demeanor the boy had never seen before, as she said, "This is a Honedge, boy, be very wary when using it. The Pokemon has been trained by me not to completely deplete you of energy, but still, her hunger is strong and will take you near the edge of what you can sustain. Use her as an actual weapon only when necessary, but as a partner on the field at any time. Her name is Boann."
With her gifts handed out, Olivia pulled the now empty barrel down from the table and reclaimed her seat and sipped on some more Santa Juice, saying, "You all may give one another gifts now."

Tommy tried to picture Olivia as Santa. He imagined what it would be like. She probably wouldn't go through a chimney, which meant she would break in through a window or something; he saw her as a neat freak of sorts. It made him almost chuckle. He held the pokeball in his hand and watched Olivia as she started handing out presents first. Her gift to Luella was a pokeball and seeing that made him sigh out of relief. Others were getting pokemon, so he wasn't going to be the only one who didn't think of something special.
However, Nerea's gift of sea stones stopped his heart. He looked down at the pokeball in his hand. It was the thought the counted, right? It didn't matter if his didn't top it. He took a deep breath and was about to walk up to her when Olivia came over to him with a sheathed item. He blinked a few times out of confusion and stared at her awkwardly. She held out the sword and Tommy placed the pokeball back in his pocket in order to grab it. The cloth wrapped itself around his arm, snuggling itself into his hoodie sleeve.
"This is a Honedge, boy, be very wary when using it. The Pokemon has been trained by me not to completely deplete you of energy, but still, her hunger is strong and will take you near the edge of what you can sustain. Use her as an actual weapon only when necessary, but as a partner on the field at any time. Her name is Boann."
Tommy pulled the Honedge out from its sheath to get a good look at it. He had never seen this pokemon before. It was pretty cool. The name was pretty silly, but Ann isn't a bad shortening of it. "T-thanks, Olivia," he stuttered. He felt it feed off of him, and he knew it would take some getting used to. But, he didn't mind. He smiled a bit. But, just as he was getting attached to it, he let out a yelp. "I almost forgot." He pulled out the pokeball again with his free hand and went over to Nerea. He held it out to her and looked away, still nervous.
"I'm your secret santa, Nerea," he started. "It's my Weavile, Minty. Merry Christmas. I hope you like it." He couldn't even put words together, and his sentences probably sounded like the speech of a child. "Honedge!" His newly acquired Honedge seemed to have some words of its own. Tommy looked over it and smiled. "Merry Christmas to you, too."

When Luella first set foot into the designated party room, her age wasn’t the most obvious detail to pay attention to when she only had Olivia around for company. Then Kailani, Nerea, and Tommy proceeded to walk in; all familiar faces in some way, but the chance to further interact liked to slip away before Luella could act on it. She wouldn’t have felt out of place for even a second if she talked to them one on one, but in a larger group like this, she couldn’t help but wonder if she was in the right spot for a second. Not that age ever stopped her from entering those children card game tournaments, but it wasn’t as if the thought wasn’t capable of making her hesitate before moving forward. As Kali eyed her fashionably pink elf suit with a sigh of relief, Luella cracked a smile at the similarly gaudy sweater that often demanded Luella’s attention whenever it decided to surprise her with a flash.
“You could be later than a Feraligatr, and you’d still be fine.” Amused at the jittery girl’s apology as she settled into the room, Luella’s gaze smoothly transitioned over to the Christmas Princess, whose heels clicked to announce their owner’s presence until she offered a carefully picked season’s greeting of her own to the group. Luella paid particular attention to the small box in her hand, and immediately ruled out what could’ve been inside due to its size. Sure didn’t look like lottery tickets or wine, so it probably wasn’t something for her. Tommy was one of the last to join in on the festivities, and while Luella tried not to fixate so much on the age gap between her and the party guests, she felt a twinge of sympathy for Tommy, who had no choice but to hang out with a bunch of girls. Her sympathy didn’t last long, because after some reconsideration, the situation wasn’t even close to being awful at all. They could’ve used some extra company, sure, but there were gifts and food and cheesy Christmas music booming in the background, and all in all, it was a nice attempt to get a few people with similar interests together. Better than jamming it out to Christmas Karaoke Night at the local bar with a bunch of strangers she’d probably never see again.
While Luella was preoccupied with the people, Olivia stood up and took command of the situation, initiating the beloved Secret Santa that Luella had been looking forward to since she got the last second invitation about two days prior. “Oh, Mr.Claus…” Snickering at the sight of the robust, flexing Santa on her gift back, Luella playfully flipped her hand out at the gesture as she accepted her gift, choosing to let it rest on her lap until everyone’s presents were passed out. As soon as the signal was given to pass each other’s gifts around, Luella whirled around in her chair and failed to withhold a giggle as she turned to Kailani, staring at her until she managed to catch her attention as she presented her with a card tapped onto a decently sized box, wrapped in shiny wrapping paper that featured various snowmen that danced among the snowflakes. Not that that detail was important, because as soon as said box was opened, you’d see the prank gift inside; a Rice Krispies box, which looked tattered and worn from being stuffed in a forgotten corner in her van, and even worse, the box didn’t even have food in it. Instead, two Pokeballs containing a Seel and Spheal clacked together as they huddled in the corner of the box, waiting to be received and loved by their new owner upon being taken out.
“I hope you like them. They’re cute.” Luella commented after the box was opened, still fiddling around with the small bag on her lap until she was satisfied with seeing what everyone else got. As soon as she got a decent enough look, she made the plunge inside her own gift bag to take delight in the Relicanth that stared at her through the red cap of its Pokeball. Oh, she loved it. She loved it lots.

A cold, somewhat refreshening, and so very abrupt shower of feels, triggered by the sight of none other than mere stones. Oh, but they weren't just some old stones, no. They were pretty stones that little Olivia had picked up from the shore when she was younger, their hometown's shore, which made them invaluable in Nerea's rose-coloured vision. Before she could get lost in memories and speculations of the past, however, she needed to thank her dearest friend for such a lovely gift. "Thank you," she offered, a small but heartfelt smile plastered on her pale face. "I will treasure these gifts beyond my mortal days, for the Great Sea chose to bless none other than us with them."
Nerea took Olivia's hands in her own, and gave them a lighht squeeze for good measure. It was imperant for the brunette to know just how much she appreciated her gifts, and their friendship.
She turned to the others in a matter of seconds, not meaning to monopolise Olivia's time. Not too much of it, at any rate. A nod would signal for the next one to come over for her gift as the older woman called her name and Nerea stepped away to allow them some level of privacy. She walked towards the punch table this time, the very table she had so blatantly ignored upon entrance, and served herself to a bit of what appeared to be called Santa Juice. The young woman would have largely preferred a simple glass of water, but she would have to make do with what she was offered for now. By this table she waited, gripping her glass of Santa Juice in one hand and the blue box she'd brought with the other, as she watched the rest of Olivia's gift-giving ceremony.
Once done, the four other attendants seemed to separate in little groups to chitchat and, if Nerea's understanding of the human race's social traditions didn't fail her, exchange more gifts. She noticed one of them approach her timidly as she sipped on the red liquid. Her head was starting to feel a little light, but she attributed that to the room itself and how cheery the holidays could be. The green-haired boy—Tommy was his name, or what Olivia called him at the very least—spoke some words that Nerea could faintly hear but clearly comprehend, and she smiled at him with the sweetest of her smiles when he extended his hand and the pokéball within to her. He was leaving one of his friends under her care.
Nerea placed her glass down on the table, and accepted Tommy's gift with gratefulness and care. Since he was gifting this to her, did it mean that she had ended up as his Secret Santa? Fate was truly a wonderful and very ironic master, she thought. "I, too, have a present for you," she said, extending her own package towards him. "It was the Sea herself who whispered to me to advice me on what to get for you, and so I am confident that you will find them to your liking." The smile she was sporting did not leave her face, despite the arrogance in her words. Such a choice in wording left much to be desired, of course, but in Nerea's deeply religious mindset there was nothing more modest and thoughtful than following the will of the one entity she venerated. The one entity to be venerated, rather.
"Do you mind if I open your present right now?" she asked once the box she had been carrying was lifted off her hands.
