After their very “interesting” phone conversation, Izumi knew she had to get to work! After they’d hung up (with a lot of banter being tossed between them) she then got busy in the kitchen, practically shoving their café’s cook out of the way (more like telling him to go take a break) so that she could get started with the order that they’d discussed about! Quickly pulling out some vegetables, a chopping board and a knife, she then began chopping up onion rings; as well as frying some of the extra bacon strips that were still left over from the mass-order of bacon and ham carbonara that they’d been commissioned to make in just a few hours! Urgh, so much spaghetti. Alright, tomato, check. Lettuce, check, mustard and ketchup, check. Now for the fries… she thought as she then flew through the kitchen, preparing the order of a classic burger, fries and soda for her “visitor” who was now apparently somewhere in the crowds of Lavaridge, signing autographs for the kids and such. Who knew that he’d make such a scene, and he’d just arrived here in Hoenn? She thought with a grin as she then heard the sizzling oil, and then flipped the bacon over, before frying the underside.
She knew she also had to prepare the fries, but wasn’t sure if it was going to be thick-cut or just the plain ol’ classic cut, so she decided to make quite a hefty order of fries, with just the right amount of salt—and that was now cooking in the basket, in another grill not too far away. She had just finished chopping the tomato and lettuce up when she smelled the faint, wafting aroma of bacon—and quickly dived for it, placing it on a plate she was working on assembling (hell, there was a bun already, but no patty nor vegetables yet) for the meal—she was going to be having some of the leftover pasta herself when he managed to get out of the crowd. After hustling and bustling through the kitchen, she had finally managed to prepare the order—the wafting odor coming from the plate was so scrumptious, she then took it out of the back room and then headed off to the small side room where she’d asked him to go—so that they could have a bit more privacy away from the crowd!
“Huh, wonder where he is,” she muttered, setting the loaded plate down at his spot, placing a knife and a fork on one side just in case he didn’t go the messy way and ate the burger with his hands! She then went back and forth, in and out of the private room, bringing with her several more plates—another one of them contained the vast assortment of fries; another had the pasta she was going to chow down on, and last but not least, some bottles of soda as well! Now that she’d finished setting up the place, she then admired the handiwork and chuckled. “All this, for one guy? Really…” she said, grinning as she then went out of the room once again in order to clean up and just be ready if in case he did manage to fight his way through the crowd of people.

Josh meanwhile was just trying to get through the crowd. He was HEAVILY considering having his new Combusken, Vulcan, use a Flamethrower to scare the crowd away, but he didn't want an angry mob. Instead, after a few more handshakes, autograph signings, and even having to bolt past a 15 year old crazed teenage girl who actually tried to LICK his face, he managed to get into the cafe.
"Holy Arceus... What in the world?" he muttered as he quickly started to make his way to where she'd pinpointed. The smell of the food she prepared wafted through, which definitely smelled a lot better then Izumi did after her favorite dish of spiced beans. "Zuzu, you around?" he called, trying to find her private spot before the crowd found him in the cafe. Eventually, he'd find it, and smile over at her as he found her. "Hey there, Smelly Zuzie" he teased with a wink, sticking his tongue out at her as he took a seat. "The food looks delicious. You've prepared quite a bit though, eh? A bit much for just one guy, or are you planning to eat most of this yourself?" he teased. "Or are you full after the bowl of baked beans you mentioned?" he teased with a grin as he winked at her. He'd just gotten here and he was already full of jokes.
He considered toning down the gas jokes though... He wondered if he was making her uncomfortable with them.

She had just finished bringing out the utensils and setting them down on the table when Josh’s voice caught her attention—and she felt her own ears burn at the sound of his voice! Calm your horns! Slow down, girl! Alright, take it easy… she chastised herself in the back of her mind as she then turned around to face him—with this smirk on her face. “So, bringing up what was supposed to remain a trade secret between two friends? Guess I should start call you Snarky Josh from this point forward,” she teased back with this huge grin on her face, before waving him over to sit at the spot that had his order already waiting for him. “Come, sit down, let’s get to talking. But first, we enjoy the food! Tell me what you think of the burger and fries, okay?” she said, sitting herself down in the chair across his; right in front of the plate of pasta that was still steaming and wafting a very deliciously hungry scent.
“Itadakimasu,” she said, clapping her hands together and making a slight bowing motion with her head; before picking up the plate and twirling it around the cream-coated spaghetti. “If you’re going to ask… I think I figured out where my mom came from. She’s not from this region; so she brought over some of the traditions. That which I said earlier is one of them. Also, where else can you find a name as exotic-sounding as mine?” she added with a chuckle, before shoveling the forkful of pasta into her mouth and then just savoring the taste and feel of the sauce. Heh, I do make pretty good carbonara, maybe I should have him try it…? she thought to herself, looking across the table to see what his reactions on their local specialties were. I also brought out extra servings, don’t hesitate to call for more… she continued to herself as she shoveled another forkful into her mouth, her eyes traveling slightly towards the serving area that was strategically tucked behind where Josh sat—there were two slices of cake, and some extra pasta in a bowl if he wanted to try it out.

He stuck his tongue out at her as he settled into his seat. "Since when was it a secret?" he teased with a smirk. "I think every regular here's probably seen this trade secret at one point or another" he joked, chuckling. He dug into his end of the food then, of course. "Mmmm!" he said after a few bites. "You were right! This is good!" he complimented with a grin.
As she talked about the origins of her name, he smirked a bit. "Well, I figured as much. I've never heard the name Izumi till now" he teased, grinning playfully. "Question is where she's from. You'll never know without a bit of research, of course"
"So how're your Pokemon?" he asked between bites as he didn't hear her self musings about the food.

“You know… I haven’t gotten the chance to ask my mom about her origins… because she’s extremely busy managing the finances of the café,” she admitted with a sheepish grin on her face as she then continued to dig into her pasta plate, relishing the taste of the creamy sauce and the crumbled-up bacon bits along with the pasta cooked to a fine point. She then let the silence hang in the air for a while, before she heard him ask about her ‘mons. That… was going to be a very long question to answer, so she decided to humor him while she was at it. after swallowing the next mouthful of food, she then turned to his direction—and then reached downward, before producing two durable plastic glasses that already had ice in them. “Give me a moment, let me get our drinks,” she said with a grin as she then stood up and then went to the now-visible cooler that was on another extra chair—inside it was several bottles of soda. She then reached for one of the glasses and then slid it across the table, watching it stop just short of Josh’s other hand!
“Whoops, almost lost that glass there. In any case, here’s some soda,” she added with a grin, quickly twisting the bottle open and hearing the fizzing noise echo throughout the room; before finally managing to unscrew the top from said bottle and then pouring into Josh’s cup first, before switching over to hers. Once both were full, she then set the half-full bottle atop the table and then resumed her seat; before getting to answer his question. “Well, Josh… let’s just say that they’re great. You remember that Vibrava… err, Flygon? He’s having too much fun flying around now. Guess it must be because of the wings,” she added with a grin; before remembering that she still had a whole horde to evolve and use. “Well, if you’re curious… I have… a… lot of creatures under my care. If we’re going to go off by official count… I’m pretty much close to… a hundred give or take?” she said, this doubtful tone in her voice, because she wasn’t sure just how many she had right now. “That, plus some of them are with my Breeder partner in Unova, grazing free at his Ranch…” she added, suddenly remembering the ash-haired individual who was just extremely triggerhappy with a camera.
“Kind of like the way your stuff’s set up. Whenever I catch something, instead of going to cold storage… they go to my sponsor over there,” she added, holding another forkful of pasta before realizing that she was supposed to make him taste aforementioned pasta dish! “Hey, tell me when you’re done with the burger. I’d love for you to try the pasta I’m having right now. Look behind you, there’s a serving bowl full of it,” she added with another chuckle.

"Yeesh, never get to spend time with your mom, huh?" he asked as he dug into his food. "I never see my parents much. Mom's always working at that research-breeding zone she and dad own.... And dad... Well, he just... Kind of went off somewhere. Haven't heard a word from him since. He left shortly after I did. Kinda wish he'd call or something, but there's been zero contact. Mom meanwhile, is always really fucking busy because she has to take care of the place BY HERSELF now, so she has no time to even call me most of the time" he said, giving a sigh between swallows.
He chuckled a bit and reached out, grabbing the glass of soda after she'd poured and slid it over. "Just missed, huh?" he said, shooting a wink. Afterword, he'd gulp it down with a grin, rather easily. Seems someone was a smooth soda drinker! He laughed a bit as she talked about her Pokemon and went on about her new Flygon. "Well, I suppose anyone with new big wings would want to fly with them, aye?" he said, chuckling. "You sound quite proud of him though, that's good"
"Hundreds, huh?" he said, raising an eyebrow. "And here I am, only having caught a handful. Looks like I have to step up my game" he said with a laugh. "Eh, I do try and take good care of the ones I have though, and the ones not with me go to the ranchy-research-breedy-center-zone-area-big fucking open landscape that my folks own, so they get to roam free and are well taken care of that way too" he said, chuckling. He looked over at the pasta and nodded as he chomped into his burger. Suppose he'd have to give it a shot... AFTER he was done scarfing down the bacon, which he got started on the second the burger finished!

“Not exactly hundreds… but inching pretty close to that number. That’s why when we do get started on our plans in Kalos, you’re going to see a different set of ‘mons with me. I like to think of this as a challenge in itself, because I can’t just simply rely on the same ol’ faces every time to bail me out, right?” she began with a chuckle, before watching him attack the bacon—and he was eating it with much gusto! She then returned to her plate, shoveling forkful after forkful of pasta into her mouth; before she stood up and then retrieved the pasta bowl and then got herself another serving. “Man, I miss cooking my own food every once in a while. Living on the road can suck after a while…” she trailed off, filling up her plate once more. There was still quite a hefty amount of pasta in the bowl, and she then proceeded to dig into this bowl quite hungrily; preferring to relish the taste in complete silence.
After she was halfway through the plate… she then decided to bring up a suggestion. “Well, since you’re taking a load off here… why not visit your mum? She’ll appreciate the company for a few days, at least…” she said nonchalantly, still savoring the plate of pasta in front of her. “Where’s your family Ranch located, anyway?” she asked a few moments later, suddenly getting really curious as to where this location was—she knew that Hoenn had a very varied landscape; but where could they park a ranch that large, if her dimensions were correct? It could be in Mossdeep; it could be here on the mainland… who knows where it is… well, I’m fine going with you either way… she thought to herself, resisting the urge to smirk his way!

“Not exactly hundreds… but inching pretty close to that number. That’s why when we do get started on our plans in Kalos, you’re going to see a different set of ‘mons with me. I like to think of this as a challenge in itself, because I can’t just simply rely on the same ol’ faces every time to bail me out, right?” she had said, and he chuckled as he nommed on his beloved bacon. Oh bacon, my bacon! Once he'd eaten the piece he'd been chewing, he smirked over at her. "I wonder if you'd give Yumi's two armies a run for their money" he cracked, but shrugged. "Then again... Probably not" he snarked with a smile. "I usually try and switch mine around when necessary, give them all a chance to shine and travel with me. Some, like Lightning though, are always with me almost at all times. I don't feel comfortable without them"
“Well, since you’re taking a load off here… why not visit your mum? She’ll appreciate the company for a few days, at least…” she then added, and Josh looked over at her, swallowing another mouthful. "I've been considering it, but she handles the ranch singlehandedly, so she's been too busy. Next she takes a few days off though, I plan to go home for a bit and rest. She could use the company" he admitted.
She asked next where the ranch was located, and Josh pondered for a moment. "Let... Me get back to you on that, the exact coordinates escape me, I haven't actually BEEN there yet, besides a quick visit" he admitted. "I haven't had the time to explore there, but mom's promised she's taken good care of my Pokemon, and showed me pictures of the landscape, so I know they're in good hands" he said with a small smile. "Maybe when I do visit, whenever that is, you could come with me?" he offered.

“Two armies?” she began, a bit of a tentative tone creeping into her voice. “She has…two armies? Wow, she must be one hell of a Trainer then,” she added with a chuckle as she then watched him practically devour the side order of bacon he’d ordered for his burger plate. “I tend to do the same… I switch around. The team you saw me with? That’s not my normal bastion. I switch everyone around too, give the others a chance to get out, get around and gain some experience in the field,” she added, wondering just how he was going to do that, with close to a hundred ‘mons on her list! At his next reply she then cracked a smirk his way. “A-ha. Knew it. You kind of had that ‘I’ve been meaning to do something but I keep forgetting to’ look about you. Your body language kind of screams that out loud, though,” she added with a chuckle, before continuing, “I’ve had one of the best teachers regarding reading body language and such,” she added, shoveling more pasta into her mouth afterward.
She then looked up and then considered the offer—apparently even he had quite forgotten just where in Hoenn his parents’ Ranch was located. Resisting the urge to snicker in his direction, she then took a drink from her own glass before answering, “Heh, sure, why not? I want to explore other places in the region anyway. A little side trip before heading out to Kalos wouldn’t seem so bad, after all,” she finished, nodding in his direction. Note to self, change the team out entirely. Except for Arion, well, everyone needs to be cycled out so that they get a chance to prove themselves. After all, where’s the fun in travelling to a new region if you go there with your partners from before? Having a new set of faces to run around with is fun, too… she thought to herself, finally going to the opposite table (the one behind Josh) and then slicing up the Lavaridge chocolate forest cake she’d talked about earlier for them to chow down on for dessert.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Aug 19, 2014 23:34:17 GMT -5
He laughed a bit. "That, or she's just spent a bit too much time catching Pokemon" he cracked. "But I'm sure she's probably been doing it for a long time, considering the Pokemon she had with her. I don't even have a Pokemon to final form that has 3 forms yet. I saw her with a Blaziken, so I know she's worked hard" he explained. "I try and switch around when I can, to give all the Pokemon I can proper battle experience. Better to have 30 powerful pokemon over an army of babies, right?" he cracked with a chuckle.
At her accusations, he stuck his tongue out at her after finishing off the bacon. "Oh geez, it's been way too long, Smelly Zuzie. I'll remember when I call next, I'm sure" he said with a laugh. "It'd be fun to bring you along. You could meet the other Pokemon I have" he said, grinning. "I'm sure you'll have fun with that. After that, we can go training in Kalos and see what kind of Pokemon we find there. Who knows what we'll find, right?" he said as he went right to the burger.

Chuckling at his own retort to her words earlier she then smirked, before replying, “Hell, it’s on, Snarky Josh! It is definitely on,” before returning to the sliced Lavaridge chocolate forest that she’d doled out to two plates—one was for herself, of course; while the other one was for Josh to tackle and have at—and then walked back, placing one of the two servings near his own plate. “Have a try of that cake. It’s our specialty, goes well with the Lava Cookie… well there are two versions of the Lava Cookie anyway; one’s for humans, the sweetened or saltier version’s for the Pokémon to chow down on,” she offered by way of explanation—alongside the slice of chocolate cake were a couple of the human-safe Lava Cookies that she’d snuck from the kitchen.
“Just let me know when you’re headed out to your Ranch so I can make time on my schedule. Right now it’s pretty free, but it might change over the next few days. Just inform me know when we’re headed out,” she added with another wave as she settled herself down on her seat once more and finished off her next serving of pasta; before moving on to the cake she’d sliced for herself. Although, the way she was eating the cake was different—instead of shoveling a forkful right into her mouth, she sliced off a piece with her fork, before sliding a Lava Cookie underneath it and then taking a bite out of it.
At his next retort, she waited until she’d managed to swallow her piece of dessert, before saying, “We definitely have to get going in Kalos, that’s for sure. Although I’m a bit iffy about challenging the gyms there, otherwise I’m good for a training run or two. Or several,” before returning to the handheld dessert she was now tackling—all the icing oozing off the places where she’d taken a bite was now dripping down to her fingers!

He stuck his tongue out at her. "So now I'm Snarky Josh and you're Smelly Izumi. Fair enough" he teased, chuckling a bit. He quickly returned to scarfing down his burger before going right to the fries. Seems he was close to finishing what he'd ordered now. It wasn't long before he'd scarfed it down and let out a belch, laughing a bit. Hopefully, Izumi wouldn't mind. And apparently she didn't because she then suggested he try the cake. "I suppose" he said, chuckling, taking a slice of the cake and a lava cookie, trying the both of them. "Mmmmm!" he let out, grinning. "These are really good" he said, chuckling. "My regards to the chef" he teased, sticking his tongue out at her.
He smirked at her next statement. "I think I'll make sure to within the next week. I'll call you" he promised. He just hoped his mother wouldn't give him the "Girlfriend" talk... Or embarrass them. "As for Kalos... I haven't even tackled a gym in Hoenn. Kalos is still a ways away in terms of that" he said with a laugh.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Aug 22, 2014 5:23:37 GMT -5
She heard him belch, but paid it no heed—when it came to having friends over, Izumi was all about chilling and just hanging loose! “Of course. I’ll let our chef know about it; he’s the one who makes the cakes himself. That’s another thing we’re quite proud of with the café—we make everything from scratch; all natural ingredients so it’s a guaranteed hit. We import some of the stuff like the met from another place in the region; but everything else, we pretty much get for ourselves,” she added with a grin, as she continued eating the cake by slicing off bits and pieces of it, before topping it on the Lava Cookie and just popping it right into her mouth at that point.
Now that their talk had turned to the eventual plans that they were making on exploring the Kalos region, she could only grin in his direction as he mentioned something about the Gym Battles.
“Well, for starters I’m not that confident on facing other Trainers in battle—more so Gym Leaders. Hell, I always wanted to challenge the hometown hero, Flannery, but then again who knows what tricks they’d pull,” she recounted, cringing slightly at the memories she had encountered with the Rustboro Gym leader, Roxanne. Urgh, I don’t want to even remember… that was like, completely embarrassing… she thought, cringing internally. I really need to prepare myself more when I go forth and battle, because honestly, it’s crazy enough as it is without so much formal training in the actual battling arts… she continued musing to herself, piling on the cake on the cookie and then cramming it into her mouth.

He nodded a bit. "I hear you" he said. "I'm going to do some serious training before I go anywhere near the Gym Leaders. I just... Don't have the skill level for it" he said, heaving a sigh. "I mean... I WANT to, it's a goal of mine to go through the Hoenn gyms and earn them all, then move to another region and get all of their gyms too, but I just don't have the same skill in Trainer battles that I do against wild Pokemon. It's just incredibly competitive with so many factors that I can't keep up, yknow?" he said. "And there's these obsessed people that live and breathe for competitive battling, they breed their Pokemon with nothing but battling other Trainers in mind, and they become nothing but machines meant for battling. And they ruin the fun and thrill of it for everyone" he explained with a sigh.
"It'd be nice to challenge Flannery one day" he said with a small smile. "But I'm a long way from there, I haven't even tried Roxanne yet" he said as he chomped down another cookie.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Aug 26, 2014 7:48:09 GMT -5
“Well, you know…” she began, stopping from frosting her own cookie with cake for a bit in order to be able to look right at him,”…there is a place where you can get started with training. It’s just outside Lavaridge. I’m talking about Mount Chimney, of course,” she continued, suddenly remembering that she’d gone into it a few times before. “It’s the place where Magma used to have their headquarters. It’s now run wild, so people can now go in and just explore the place. Also, there are a series of caves there too that are rife with ‘mons, perfect for… well, you know, strengthening everyone up. I prefer to train while I’m on the road; because each and every encounter I have is a learning experience,” she added with a sheepish chuckle, before popping the frosted cookie right into her mouth. While she was chewing, another thought came to mind; however her mouth was crammed with chocolate so she quickly swallowed it and reached for the soda before speaking up again.
“You know… we can get started on our Kalos gig whenever you’re ready. When I say ready… like, after the visit to your place, getting everything else prepped and ready to go… I really want to go on another journey again, and hopefully not get my ass kicked when it comes down to challenging a Gym Leader; regardless of region…” she added with a grin on her face; before quickly burying herself into the dessert that she was now attacking with much abandon. After a few more minutes of silence, she then spoke up, and then asked, “So… what do you think? We could have a few ‘sparring’ sessions for fun… just our ‘mons getting to know each other without getting too rowdy. And I’d also have to agree with you… there are just some people who are just… a tiny bit too obsessed with just battling and raising them to be their ‘best’. Well, we all have our own definitions of what’s ‘best’, but that’s not stopping me from doing what I like the most…” she trailed off, holding the fork before slicing off another piece of the chocolate forest cake and cramming it into her mouth.
