If you asked Danny to describe one of his all-time favorite hobbies, it was probably something that let him exaggerate to the max. It was always nice to see his wordy compliments bounce back at him, even if the words weren’t oozing heartfelt adoration. Of course, he didn’t usually compliment people for the sake of having a bone thrown back at him, but he wasn’t expecting to be called a ‘weirdo’ again, of all things. ’Am I really that weird? Or is everyone else just boring?’ It gave him peace of mind to simply assume that the world wasn’t ready for his caliber of entertainment, but it didn’t feel fitting to label everyone else as ‘boring’ either. ”Don’t tell me you saw through my sugary sweet disguise! Uh…” Arietta wanted honesty, but providing that meant taming the glory of his exciting personality. He could at least take a hint to chill out and sit down, but he wasn’t on board for the heartfelt honesty train when he was in charge of his super cool Danny plane. ”My honesty is a special blend of creative wordplay. I’m still being 'honest', but I probably need a filter or a translator.” Of course he wasn’t a dirty, rotten liar, but he wasn’t above shaking the truth to have some fun on the side.
He liked the way she thought though, even if her colorful, blooming ego was in need of a gentle trim. She was right, but he was right-er. That was the rule, and he was the rule-maker.
”Reminds me of that one kid show with the dancing blue Tyrantrum. Always told me I was special; not that I needed to be told that.”He shrugged, arms fanning out as if he was dropping his cares on the ground. He got the feeling that Arietta was challenging him, and he would’ve been ok with it if he could simply figure out what the challenge was. ”As soon as you become the best, I’ll be there to take your crown. You’ll have a special delivery of treason by morning.” Backing away towards the centerpiece fountain, he twirled around and started to walk around the smooth and slick borders, motioning for Arietta to follow him if she was still in a talking mood. Something felt so right about being around the plaza’s decorative landmark as strangers sprinkled the surrounding shopping district. It didn’t matter if they were looking at him or not; as long as he had the chance to be noticed, he felt great. "Here's a fun, open-ended question for the day. Do you think the Pokemon a trainer raises says anything about themselves? The Pokemon you used had a certain flair to them, so I wondered about that." It wouldn't be easy to elaborate on the style Arietta's Pokemon carried around, but he found them pleasant to watch when they were battling earlier.
He even had to wonder what his Pokemon said about himself, if they even reflected anything about him at all. Just because he knew that Larry was the best Pokemon out there didn't mean that everyone else saw it that way.

Firstly, Arietta followed him over. She still wanted to talk with him. There was no doubt about that. She was genuinely, honestly interested in him as a person and even honestly liked him. She was just the worlds best at showing that in the dumbest of ways.
Another thing about Arietta though was that she could be very honest when she needed to be. So it might helped that she felt the need to be at this moment.
"You can talk however you like Danny. It's cool and funny and quirky and stuff. I just want to make sure when you say nice things that you mean them. I'll stop worrying I guess." she smiled. She felt a bit of her heart say she was being dumb and just wanted to trust him.. but she would give him the benefit of the doubt for now.
She was actually relaxing, her body language showing it as she followed him wherever he was going. "I do. What Pokemon we got definitely says something about who they are, but I think it's figuring it out that's hard. Like.. if I had to guess what your Pokemon say about you... I guess it would be that you are cute and free-spirited."
She paused for a moment. Then a very loud sound burst into her ears.. a grumbling and rumbling sound. She felt her cheeks get warm with blush as she realized that was her stomach.. she hadn't eaten today had she?
She totally meant it just to tease him, but she decided to play it cool by saying. "Feel like buying a cute girl some lunch?" She made a cute little expression on her face, trying to look so adorable. Yet despite the show, she assumed he wouldn't and they would part ways soon. Still she couldn't help but notice there was some cute little places to eat around here. It would be nice to get a table for two rather then eat by herself.
Especially since she knew her sister was hanging around town with some boy.. that's why she was even alone now.
You don't know them like I do
Don't be pressured to stay in this thread any longer then you want to. If you want to continue I can continue to be interesting though. Arietta's a clingy girl.

Ouch! One of his weaknesses was that moment where he said something that he wanted to take back. Thankfully that had yet to happen to him, but Arietta reminded him with her hint to keep things as real as he could make them. It wasn’t easy being wrong about something he blurted out on accident, but at least he had the guts to correct himself. The fact that she was worrying in the first place was a pretty endearing trait for someone he just met, and as he glanced back to check on her, she seemed pretty relaxed. If she really had been worried, he missed the signs entirely, meaning that either he had bad social skills, or Arietta was subtle. It could even be a combination of the two, which made it all the more interesting to think about. Switching his attention back to his feet so he wouldn’t slip into the fountain, he decided to hop off before they ended up talking and walking in circles. That would’ve been fun, and he was all for that suggestion, but he wasn’t interested in getting dizzy from something so mundane.
Arietta’s answer earned a nod of approval from him, but he had to admit that he was curious to see what she thought of his own Pokemon. A Wingull and an Emolga were adorable in his eyes, and he could see his Pinsir showing something more adventurous. ”Heh heh, that makes me wonder if there’s some kind of Pokemon Fortune Telling out there based on this stuff. There probably is. Anything to make money in this world.” Even if it wasn’t the most accurate thing out there, he still found the concept entertaining enough to play along with.
Pausing to rethink what it meant to be ‘cute’, he suddenly stopped in his place as his brain ping pong’d the idea of it being a personality trait or a physical trait. It wasn’t the first adjective to pop into his head when he thought of a typical 19 year old boy, but hey, everyone has their own perspective. ”I hope you mean cute in a good way, because—“ Although his ears weren’t sure if they heard it or not, Arietta blushed as if she was guilty of something. The classic stomach growl; an interruption that could easily embarrass the user if ill-timed, especially during important moments of silence. It wasn’t nearly so quiet here, but after quirking up an eyebrow, his suspicions were confirmed when lunch was brought up.
Personally, he wasn’t hungry, but oh no—she was being adorable. Adorable acts weren’t supposed to work on him, and yet she was playing it off so well. Struggling to resist Arietta’s power, he managed to look away and laugh at the sky. ”Ha! That won’t work on me. I am immune to puppy eyes and kitten cries. I’m a few levels too high for that to work on me.” Thankfully for him, his stomach wasn’t about to throw him under the ‘spend some cash now’ bus, although he’d probably get the munchies about an hour later. ”We can always catch up later, so go eat. I’ll even text you cat pictures to break the ice, because cats are that magical.” With all of the cat memes stored on his phone, he was armed and ready to text someone an adorable image at any second. The only issue was if the person had already seen the image before, but that’s why he had backups.

Ehehe, I think having a new thread/new setting for them would be good. We can probably wrap this up and set up something fun now that we have an idea of how they'll interact B)

"There probably is. Maybe I should get into something like that. I need all the money."
She didn't falter. She had to play it cool. It was true she hadn't gotten the answer she wanted but she wasn't going to be a big baby. She flashed him an award winning smile and spoke again. "Anyway, Your loss. One day people are going to compete to buy my lunch for me." she laughed. She had almost avoided it but she had to add in. "Weirdo."
She tried to believe that they could meet up again and have fun. For a moment she was regretful about the idea of going back to Kalos. She knew the distance would likely mean that her new friend would become nothing more than a long distance one. Still.. she was going to be rich and have tons of amazing Pokemon one day right? One day distance wouldn't be a big deal. Yeah.
So she decided not to talk to him about that sort of thing yet. The same way she avoided telling him all sorts of things. She couldn't start blabbing her life story, or seeming too needy.
Right? She wasn't sure.. this was the first time she had friend her own species.. Pokemon handled friendship differently in her experience. They were more willing and wanting to make close bonds. Like she was. She wished she could meet some humans who felt the same way.
"I guess I'll see ya then, Danny.." and she started to walk off with the pitter patter one generally makes walking away on a hard surface. She liked to think hers was as soft and delicate as she was though.
She tried not to think for a moment about her other silly thoughts, like maybe he would notice her outfit more when she was walking away. This outfit was adorable! It deserved more compliments. She tried to focus her attention on figuring out where she would eat now. She really didn't want to go to one of the fancy restaurants. She felt a buzzing in her pocket though.. her sister?
She really hoped she wasn't just about to end up the third wheel..
She had thought for a moment that a departure would be more cool if she just walked away, but she turned back before the distance was too great and said. "I meant cute in the good way." she winked and then turned back, moving right along. That way he wouldn't see her red face.
She totally wasn't going gaga over some guy inner thoughts. But.. maybe her sister didn't have to know that. That way if she was about to stuck in a lunch with her latest boy interest.. she could talk about meeting a cute foreign boy and getting his number as well.
You don't know them like I do
I figured as much and agreed. Why I still set up their easy seperation.

If missing out on paying for someone else’s lunch was a loss, then he was more than willing to snatch up the title of ‘Loser’ and stamp it all over his face. Maybe he’d even earn money by having those types of losses, and then everyone in the world could compete to be the Biggest Loser. Dollar signs must’ve been clearly indented in his eyes, because a sharp comment stabbed him in the cheek as punishment. ”Not a weirdo! I’m too flawless for that.” He called back, faking a comical display of annoyance by jutting his arms straight down like exclamation points while he defiantly stomped on the cement. At least she was cool about skipping a meal with him for now, because he couldn’t imagine stuffing more food down his throat after piling on the pancakes a few hours earlier. ”But yeah, we’ll have to catch up sometime. Au re-Gardevoir, Arietta.” Of course he didn’t know French, so he managed to mangle the word up for the sake of his crappy pun, not even showing the slightest hint of guilt as he proudly marched away.
It wasn’t as if he never made friends ever, but Arietta was one of the first he met after the start of his journey. It was pretty refreshing knowing that so many people were out there standing around and waiting to meet the new and improved Danny Kazuki, when so many of the acquaintances he knew back home were so caught up on the old Danny. There weren’t even that many differences in the span of 2 months between the two Dannys other than a darker hair color, but still, he felt older now that he had the ability to act without adults hovering over him like over-protective Mightyena. Despite his first taste of freedom in the vast region of Orre, even now, his parents were still fretting over him by sending him text messages and voice mails, some of which he didn’t even bother to reply to. His phone started to sing a catchy jingle as it lit up in delight, and as he flicked it out of his pocket and flipped it open, he groaned as ‘Mother Dearest’ flashed on the screen. ”Y’ello? Hey, hey. You sound angry.” And suddenly his ears were met with a voice that grated on his defenseless ears, scratching him down for ignoring her previous voice mail. ”No, no! I’m not goofing off. I’ll find a job within 10 years guaranteed, and—“ And of course, Arietta’s timing couldn’t have been better, right as he assumed that they had excused themselves from the conversation, she just had to shout about being cute.
’So you ARE goofing off! Flirting with the girls until they drop silly. Honestly, where do you get this from?’
”Uh…” He couldn’t deal with this right now. It wasn’t the most mature way to handle it, but he flipped his phone back into his pocket and turned it off. ”I’ll take that compliment to go, thanks!” Well, if Arietta wanted to look cool, she certainly looked the part in his eyes. Danny even considered taking notes, but he was having too much fun skipping away with the sunshine escorting him to a part of town he wanted to check out. It didn’t matter if there wasn’t anything interesting there; regardless of what it was, it had to be explored!
