It was a brisk, sunny early morning, and for once, Josh and Izumi were home at the same time. Well, it wasn't technically home for Izumi yet, as the house was still under construction. But she'd stayed with them at Serena's house for the night, and had plans to spar in the morning once again. Josh was considering just what they could do for this sparring session, as he casually ate breakfast, with the Pikachu sitting beside him nomming his own breakfast. Then it hit him. What if they tried a Triple Battle? They hadn't done one yet. Ever. They'd done Single Battles, and they'd done the Hoenn specialty of Double Battles. If he recalled, Kouji was from Unova though, wasn't he? Why not surprise Izumi with a little Unova type flair and see if she recognized it? Sounded like a plan to him, he supposed.
Josh would head outside once breakfast was done, grabbing the Pokemon he had planned on using for this as he headed out into the open fields to wait for Izumi like planned.

She could only guess as to why he wanted yet another round of sparring with her; what was it with him and beating up on her younger ‘mons into the dirt anyway? Izumi could only sigh, as she then rolled out of bed and got moving, still feeling rather groggy at this time of the day. Sure, the house they were going to be living in wasn’t finished yet; but what was it with him suddenly asking for all manner of sparring? Was there something brewing in the distance? Either way, the raven-haired Trainer could only sigh, before hauling herself into the shower and getting prepared for the rest of the day.
An uneventful half-hour later, she’d finally managed to drag herself down to the mini-kitchen, and saw that there was a plate of breakfast waiting for her on the counter. It smelled good, even if it tasted rather cold (since she did take her time in the shower in order to wake herself up). Once she’d finished eating the contents of the plate (and had washed the dishes she’d used, to boot) she then made her way outside, wondering just what the hell Josh was up to this time around.
Is he going on a massive training spree? I don’t envy him for doing that, of course… just that I don’t feel the groove of training lately… she thought to herself as she began to look around the premises, wondering where the hell he’d gotten off to.

Josh had noted something as of late. Ever since Izumi had gained mega evolution knowledge, she had started to... Skirt her training a bit. She didn't seem to have the groove anymore, and no longer seemed excited for their training sessions. And when they did train, she seemed more focused on getting the upper hand or show superiority then wanting to do what's best for her Pokemon. Yumi seemed to have a happier time as of late sparring with him in comparison to Izumi, he had noticed. But of course, Yumi loved battling, that was no surprise. Izumi's... Lack of a groove as of late puzzled him. They had so much to fight for now, more reason then ever to train constantly, and she knew that. So what had gotten into her?
These questioned floated through his head as he saw Izumi coming his way. He would wave over to her and walk over. "You all set for the sparring today?" He would ask. "I was thinking... Why don't we try something new? Say... A Triple Battle?" He would suggest. "You know... Freshen it up a bit"

The moment the words ‘triple battle’ hit her ears Izumi then felt her eyebrows rise up so high, they practically threatened to vanish into her hairline. “Are… are you serious?” she began; now starting to question if whether or not he was joking around or if he wasn’t. “Double battles are crazy enough as it is…” she added with a thoughtful stare into the clouds floating up above. The weather was the muggy sort of gray; but thankfully the wind didn’t smell too wet yet. “Well, what the hell not,” she remarked with a shrug, before looking around and wondering just what he was really up to these days.
Unlike him, her fire had started to slow down a little; and she was seriously contemplating on challenging a gym or two—if it didn’t damage her own confidence first. The problem was, most of the gym leaders she knew by reputation were hella scary, so that kind of dampened her mood a bit. On the other hand, there were a lot of new leaders who’d just settled in, so she was playing with that notion, too. “Hmm… you think a Leader actually uses Triple Battles? I know that some of them prefer Doubles, but what the hell… as long as we don’t end up trashing the entire place and leaving it in rubble, then let’s do this,” she remarked, before looking around rather absent-mindedly.
She knew that there were some of her team mates that were a bit up on the evolutionary scale, and she was playing with that idea… and it sure gave her an inspiration. “You wait here. I’ll be right back with my team,” she remarked with a smirk, whistling and waiting for her Braviary to appear from the sky. Sure enough, the Flying-type zoomed down after her initial ‘bird call’, and she hopped on his back and zoomed off into the pasture that made up their home stead, a plan already hatching in her mind.

(Messaged you on it already)
"Yeah. I'm serious" Josh spoke with a casual shrug. "I mean, there's nothing wrong with it... Is there?" He would ask her curiously, tilting his head. "I mean, sure... Its probably going to get a little crazy. But hey, its a test run. No harm in trying, right?" He would add. "And if its too much to handle, Zu, we can just go back to Double Battles. No big deal. Let's just see how we handle this, and see if we should make it a habit, or if we should go back to double battles. No harm in trying, right?" He would suggest, nodding when she seemed to be up for it.
"Alright" Josh said as Izumi left to go grab her own Pokemon. He had six Pokeballs on his belt. Six to choose from in order to contend with Izumi... But he still needed to pick which three.

Once she’d departed the scene, it was just a matter of making a 180 turn in mid-air and zooming back towards the Ranch, because there was no way in hell she was going to be carrying three extremely heavy companions back to where they were going to try out Triple Battles. She already had a plan in mind, and hopefully she’d be able to find the respective containment units of the team that she was going to use! After Izumi had left her Braviary waiting outside the back door, she then made a mad dash to where her containment units were stored—the ‘mons preferred to be out in the sun when they were at home anyway, so why keep them trapped in their Pokeballs?
After rummaging through the rather large box, she’d finally managed to extract two marked Heavy Balls and a Dusk Ball that had a sticker of what appeared to be crossed blades on it, before popping them down and stowing them away in her pockets. In mere minutes she was back outside and astride Sora once again, scanning the grounds from high up—where the hell had those three gotten off to, anyway? Once she’d managed to locate all three of them (and coax them back into their respective containment units in the meantime) she then made her way back to where she knew he was waiting. Well, he might not be expecting this, but it’s time to give some of the other guys a whirl in the sparring ladder, she pondered in the back of her mind as a loud screeching bird call announced her arrival.
Once she’d managed to jump off from her Braviary’s back (and had crouch-landed instead of on two feet) she then stood back up and made her way back to where Josh was waiting. Who would he be using? Well, shit, screw the typing matchups later… I’ll just have to make him go first, she continued to muse to herself as she then caught his attention. “I’m here, and I got my three. Why not you show who you’re going to be using, then I’ll reveal my choices…?” she commented in a casual manner, hoping that he wouldn’t notice what she was up to…

The blonde chuckled a bit when Izumi would demand that he send out his first. "Ah, right. So you can pick Pokemon that have the advantage, I gotcha. You've gotten quite competitive lately" Josh would tease, sticking his tongue out at her. "Careful not to get too competitive, or get a big head. It can lead to your downfall real quick" The blonde would sternly warn, though the amused smirk remained on his face. He was teasing her, of course, but a little advice couldn't hurt. "Just remember that we're mainly doing this for fun, and for the benefit of our Pokemon. Wouldn't be any fun or benefit anybody if we actually forced it to be one-sided" He would remark as he would grab three of the six Pokeballs on his belt.
"Alright, hope you're ready for this!" He called as he tossed the three into the air. "Go! Grodus! Goku! Galahad!" He would call as the Pokeballs would bring out three base-formed Pokemon. Up first was a Beldum, who's silver coat shined and shimmered. Up next was a Riolu, who quickly got into a fighting stance. And of course, his Aron, who took a faithful spot beside his friend the Riolu to prepare for battle.

Ever since she’d adapted the tactic of letting him go first, she was slowly building up on a tactic: if she let the opponent go first, she’d know what to use against them—even if it forced her to go on the defensive instead of the offensive as she’d always preferred. Either way, once the three on Josh’s side of the field had appeared, she could only sigh a little—with the three she was bringing in, would it constitute as overkill? Izumi would only know as she whistled before casually flicking her wrists and popping the three containment units she had with her to full size, before flicking her wrist forward.
Three streams of red light then shot out from the three full-sized units, each transforming into one of her chosen Pokémon. Once the three flashes of light had fully coalesced into their forms, she then chuckled a bit slightly—wasn’t this going to be a bit of a ‘walling’ situation once things got started? She then smirked behind her Rhydon’s back as the bipedal rhinoceros then turned around to look at Izumi curiously—whom she then waved at before chuckling softly. “I know, Winston. We have to give them a wall to climb, to surpass. Work with me here?” she added with a mischievous grin, as the Lairon then shook his head and let out a salutatory roar at her in welcome.
The pair of ghostly swords silently hovered near the Rhydon, before spinning around in mid-air, the better to get accustomed to moving around in a combined form, before turning to face her once more. “Alright, meet Winston, Arion, and ‘Machi,” she remarked, introducing her Rhydon, Lairon, and Doublade in order. “Shall we dance?” she asked his way, mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

While Izumi's choice of Pokemon didn't bother him, it was how she went about it that put a frown on Josh's face. What was the point, anyway? A wall to climb, it didn't do anything for his Pokemon that they wouldn't experience traveling. And it wouldn't benefit hers much at all. It was as if since the one spar where she got a big advantage, she'd started to take this really serious and try to get an advantage, as if she'd just... He didn't know, gotten a big head, an ego, out of winning the sparring sessions. He wasn't sure why. Maybe it was a woman thing? But for now, he supposed he'd deal, and would just show that her "Ill-Gotten Advantage" meant squat.
"Yeah, yeah" He said, with a frown. "Alright, let's go" He added. (5 Moves Per Turn)
"Grodus, use Take Down on Doublade!" Josh would call as the rockets on the silver Beldum's rear would start up and he launched himself full speed toward the Doublade. "Galahad, use Iron Tail on Rhydon! Then Iron Head!" He called as the Aron would charge toward her Rhydon, first trying to slam its tail into it, before going for an iron-ized headbutt. "And that leaves you, Goku! Double the Force Palms on Lairon! Go!" He called as the Riolu would nod in affirmative before leaping into the air, charging both his palms full of energy before attacking Lairon twice in a fury.
