After sometime resting and recovering from their previous Ruins shenanigans, it was now time once again for the ‘dynamic duo’ in order to get exploring once more. This time, though, Izumi had gone on ahead, having come from the Izakaya and settling some overdue accounts that the aftermath of the Valentines’ Event had brought about—it did get word out that there was a restaurant that offered their own take on the local food of Shui; and that there had been a ‘signal boost’ in terms of getting word out about the place.
Now that she’d come in for a landing astride her Salamence once again, she then quickly returned the Dragon-type back into his containment unit and then looked around—what had set off the ‘native’ explorers of the place and why were they rushing around a lot more than what was normal? The answer was obvious the moment she’d approached a few of the ones she knew by sight and by passing conversations—and sometime later she was walking towards one of the entrances with not one, but two sets of mapping equipment.
Truth be told it was just a sheet of blank paper along with some pens and several hats that had little flash lights mounted atop them, so the raven-haired girl could only guess what the hell they were up to this time around… and now, where was her searching partner?

It seemed that once again, it was time for their regular ruins run. Josh knew that Izumi was looking forward to it, as she always was. Izumi had said that she was going on ahead, but Josh had a surprise for her. And what was that surprise? Well, as Izumi would finish dealing with whoever was around, and wondering where her so called "searching partner" was, she might notice a tuft of blonde hair sticking out from behind a rock. If she cared to check, she would find Josh sitting behind it, on a few other rocks, with Lightning, casually nomming a sandwich. It seemed that he had already gone ahead himself to check the place out to make sure that it was safe for Izumi to come and explore with him. Y'know, so that she wouldn't freak out about sudden drops or skydiving.
He would look over at her when he would notice her and wave casually. "Oh, hey there" He said, chuckling a bit.

It had taken her several moments of searching until she’d discovered where Josh had larked himself—eating sandwiches along with the little Lightning Mouse that she loved to hate. “Ah, there you are,” she began, before quickly tossing towards him one set of the mapping gear that had been unceremoniously thrust into her hands before she’d managed to get away from the overeager locals that haunted the tent city that had become a permanent fixture outside the Ruins.
“Come on, let’s get goin’. Some of the locals need help, apparently. They’ve been thrusting these sets of mapping equipment into everyone’s hands faster than we can even blink. Somethin’ about them being short-handed and needing more help in getting a ‘precise’ lay of the land plotted out for the Ruins…” she muttered as she resisted the urge to roll her eyes heavenwards at that rather innocuous thing that the explorers were raving about.
“Well, finish up that sammich and let’s get goin’,” she added, wanting to secretly get this over and done with—they were literally killing time and they needed to make up for what was lost over the past few days… I completely and totally blame the last-minute rush that the Izakaya had to go through, but otherwise… well… she thought to herself as she then affixed the head gear with the little lamp bobbing atop its front on her head before facing the entrance that wasn’t too far away from where they stood.
“Don’t forget to map out the entire thing as we go along,” she began, before squaring her shoulders and walking off into the darkness.

Josh would look over at Izumi as she had found him, and promptly responded by sticking his tongue out at her. Lightning would follow suit, sticking his tongue out at the raven haired Trainer as well. The "natives" of this area had been... Interesting, to say the least. Josh had done his best to try and avoid them as they gave him a rather uneasy feeling. But he would listen as Izumi would mention her own encounter with them, and their wanting to get them to help them out with their mapping of the ruins. He wondered what they wanted the mapping for? "Are we getting paid for doing work they can do themselves?" Josh would inquire as he would hop down, landing beside her as Lightning clung to his shoulder. "Seriously, they can't just shove equipment into your hand and say 'Do this! Now!' because that's not... Yeah" He said, scratching his head as he would gulp down the rest of the sandwich.
"Don't worry about being late" He said as they headed into the darkness. "Knowing you, your big arse probably knocked a few things over and caused a ruckus" He would tease, playfully checking her out just to mess with her before looking over at her and sticking his tongue out at Izumi again.

“They’re crazy, is what they are. I heard something about them losing a few veterans to traps, since they weren’t exactly expecting some parts of the Ruins to be rigged with the live stuff,” she remarked with a bit of a hint of concern in her voice, before finally managing to get the little light bulb attached to the hat to work. Once she’d gotten her stuff ready, she then decided to take the lead, silently marking off stuff on the map here and there; before taking a turn to the right—was her companion still following her around? Truth be told, whenever Izumi was assigned a task, any task—she’d immediately get too absorbed in it and shut out everything else around her.
It didn’t take too long for her to look up and see that she’d wandered into a room that had a statue of what she recognized as a Heracross; replete in its powerful, mighty form. “Oh, snap. That reminds me, I have to raise Mushi up into the best fighter that he can be… sometimes I’m glad that this particular one doesn’t have any evolutionary lines…” she muttered to herself, quickly tracing in the room on the blank sheet of paper and drawing a rudimentary statue on it at best. Once that was done, she then backed out of the room as slowly as she could manage, hoping that she didn’t trigger any crazy traps on her way out.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found RELIC STATUE! A stone figure made in a civilization about 3,000 years ago. A maniac will buy it for a high price.

"Oh and so they expect us to just go in and risk our lives for free to make sure they don't lose a few. Prissy bastards" Josh would remark, rolling his eyes. "Fuck mapping it out for them. We don't usually visit the same ruins twice anyway, Zu, this isn't useful at all. If they want us to do their dirty work for them and risk our lives, the least they could do is pay us" He would add, with an irritated look on his face. "And I mean, sure, maybe that sounds kinda selfish. But seriously, they're even more selfish for demanding it. Not asking. Just shoving these things in our hands and expecting to take the results of our mapping when we're out without so much as a thank you"
He let out a sigh as he would irritably punt some tiny statuette thing. More useless junk, of course.

Either there was something going on with the way the raven-haired girl was mapping things out; or there was something wrong with her companion. She could only sigh as she heard his rather…rudimentary complaints while she continued to scribble on the blank sheet of paper that she currently had with her, before letting out a sigh. “You know, J… sometimes it’s better to keep the complaints to yourself… it’s like… oh, forget I said anything,” she muttered, returning her gaze to the map before scratching out another few lines and several little squares that denoted empty rooms. She then took a look at the scribbling she’d marked down so far, and could only roll her eyes at her handiwork—why did it turn out this way?
“Ah, shit,” she muttered, passing a room—before very nearly doing a double-take. Had… was that something familiar inside it? She could only blink and stare as she then backtracked before stepping inside the room—and then starting to snicker to herself. “What the hell,” was all she could mutter as she took in the statue of something that she’d already seen transform—it was her Draken, faithfully represented in solid rock! “Don’t tell me the heavens are sending me a sign to raise an army of Gibles…” was all she could mutter as she then sketched in the new room, before backing out of it and rejoining her grumbling partner.
“Come on, let’s keep going. Nothing too much worthy in this stretch…” she trailed off as she continued to walk deeper into the Ruins.

Josh let out a sigh when she would call him out on his anger over this. "... Sorry" Josh said, scratching his head. "I guess I got a little frustrated. I mean, isn't being experienced excavators their JOB? Why are they demanding free mapping work from whoever passes by and sending them into the Ruins to do their jobs for them, with the only one benefiting being the lazy bastards that're just sitting on their asses and probably laughing at us and the prospect that we're probably gonna die if we hit a booby trap"
Josh would suddenly step on some kind of panel, and would immediately get a running start and aggressively tackle Izumi as far away from it as possible as he could hear hundreds of arrows shooting from the walls that had just been surrounding them, they had just barely gotten out of harms way. Josh would look back and see what had just happened, as some of the arrows had gone off course and hit the walls instead of going back into the holes.
"See what I mean?" He would ask, comforting the Pikachu that had been hanging onto his shoulder for dear life. He would accidentally step on some kind of bone, rolling his eyes. "I mean, do the mapping if you want, man. I just don't see why we should be the ones doing the work and risking our lives. It's not like we'll come back to these particular ruins anyway. We learned before that return trips usually end with us finding out its already been picked clean" He would add.

The raven-haired girl had gotten so swept up with marking down stuff on the piece of paper she was working on, she’d very nearly missed the warning that a trap had been triggered until she felt her balance suddenly shift ever so wildly, and she then found herself tumbling to the floor; mapping equipment flying out of her hands! “WHOA!” she yelped, feeling her center of gravity lean too far forward; before catching her breath and finding out that Josh had shoved her out of the way of what appeared to be another trap that consisted of…splinters?
“Wh-whoa,” she stammered, realizing that he was almost straddled on top of her (in a completely innocent manner, mind, because she’d very nearly become Swiss Cheese due to the trap). She then felt a flush race across her cheeks, before she finally managed to regain her senses and attempted to stand up—only to have her forehead collide with his on impact! “Ow! Ouch,” she groaned, before quickly wiggling and shimmying out f the way and scouring the ground in order to find where the mapping materials in her hand had fallen. “Gosh, that was a bit reckless of me. Thanks for the save,” she remarked, before picking up the items and then sketching in the latest addition and labeling it with ‘TRAP’ in bold-faced letters.
Once she’d finally gotten up and dusted herself off, she found herself looking into a room—and the room had some kind of statue that looked very familiar… “Oh, don’t tell me,” she muttered as she stepped inside and observed the statue. To her surprise, she recognized the features—it was that of a Blaziken! At that moment she was sorely reminded of her own, Zira; and wondered just how the female bipedal chicken would look once she’d gotten a turn at mega-evolving. “Ooh, shiny…” she remarked, before suddenly realizing that this was what… her third, fourth turn? “Fine, I’ll take this and hold on to it,” she said with a bit of a smirk on her face, rolling the reddish-black marble between her fingers as she made her way back to where Josh was waiting for her.
“Come on, let’s go,” she added, plucking his sleeve and getting a move on.
