Ever since their last escapade in the Ruins, Izumi now carried around someone who had wings (or could at least fly) on the off-chance that any exit points led to a sheer drop—like the last time. She still hadn’t forgiven Josh for the impromptu skydiving session, but thankfully his blue Dragonite was there to save their asses from certain obliteration. Now that a few days had passed since that rather…chaotic exit they’d taken, she’d decided to go on ahead—but only because, again, she was coming from the Izakaya over in Shui—having just finished another round of health inspection checks.
She could only guess as to why the inspection committee kept on coming around as often as they did, and couldn’t help but think that there was something up… In either case, she then came soaring down for a three-point landing; but surprisingly the mount wasn’t her Braviary—it was Gabriel, her Salamence. “Very nice… now, if you don’t keep knocking me off every other time I try to get astride you, then we can work on having more than one person on your back in the near future,”she remarked with a chuckle at the Dragon-type, which she then quickly recalled back into his containment unit. Now that she was here, where was her companion, anyways?
Most likely getting tangled in some crazy shit… knowing him, definitely… she thought with a smirk as she waited for him to make his ‘grand appearance’.

Yeeeahh... The last ruins run had been... Well, quite the adventure, to say the least. They had seen springs, Pokemon, marbles, cliffs, and they even flew through the bloody air. They had seen cave-ins, close calls, fly-bys, birds and mice and bats and all of that rot and a bag of chips. Jolly good show! But Izumi would arrive to quite the surprise. Josh had already beaten her there!
"Well, took you long enough!" The blonde would joke with a laugh as he would wave over to Izumi from the entrance to the ruins. "I've been here so long, my hairs turning grey!" He would joke. "You don't want a grey haired roomie, do you? Gotta pick up the pace, Zu. What if people come looking for your uniform and baby pictures and you can't get rid of them fast enough?" He would snark, a grin crossing his lips. "Seriously though, let's get going. No time like the present, right?" He would add, smiling faintly.

She then attempted to hide her surprise—but was majorly unsuccessful—due to the fact that he’d suddenly loomed and appeared from out of the shadows, very nearly sending her jumping up a mile into the sky. “The hell, J. Don’t scare me like that!” she began, clutching a hand to her chest before finally whipping around and seeing him leaning against one of the pillars that dotted the entrance. “If you take me on another skydiving thing one more time, I swear, you’re never going to hear the end of it from me,” she added, quickly taking a few deep breaths in order to be able to calm herself down.
“Oh, can it, you smart ass,” she remarked, debating on whether or not she would throw the bird at him or go for a physical assault. Several minutes later, her mind was still contemplating on what best punishment to mete out on her companion while walking through the expanse of the Ruins—and not getting her own hopes up. “I swear… this is going to take a while, again,” she muttered as she passed by something that looked very much like an icon from who-knew-what culture that had existed long ago.
She’d seen enough of them to identify them on sight, and knew that the place was going to be bad news, so she kept on walking, looking around for rooms that they could poke around in and find treasure.

Josh's amusement at Izumi's reaction to his showing up early was poorly hidden behind that incredibly amused grin of his. It was funny, really, her surprise when really he'd just shown up due to circumstance. He'd left something around the area last time and had gone to grab it before they were to do their run in the ruins. "Sorry about that, I just had to grab something I dropped" the blonde would explain, smirking faintly. "And, hey! I can't control if we go on a skydiving trip again! I didn't know the first time!" He would plead his case, nudging her playfully. It was true, how was he to know last time that the exit would lead them right out of an opening high up in the sky that would send them plunging down below? It was the only exit that he had seen!
As they headed in, he waited for her to do something like flip the bird or just get him back for his shenanigans. Lightning would poke his head out of Josh's jacket just as Josh looked at Izumi. "PIKA!" Lightning let out as he raised his hands, suddenly popping out of nowhere, possibly to scare Izumi. Peek-A-Boo-Pikachu?

Izumi knew that it was impossible to have a ‘poker face’ on in this situation; and the best thing that she could do was to just glower at him sufficiently until she finally turned away with a huff. At that same moment, though, she heard a certain Lightning Mouse suddenly call out to her—too bad she was facing the opposite direction and had gone on ahead in order to be able to cover more ground.
“Come on, hurry up,” she muttered rather irritably, seeing something glittering and bending over to pick it up—however that certain thing that she’d just found was not what she was looking for. “Definitely not,” she muttered before chucking it out of her hands and hearing it clatter somewhere far ahead, before who knew where it had rolled off to. “Here we go again with the…JUNK!” she screeched as a whooshing noise warned her that there was something coming.
The split-second warning was all she needed as she quickly flattened herself against the wall and saw a huge-ass blade that was glimmering ominously; she had a few seconds to scream, “GET OUT OF THE WAY, J!”, hoping that her warning had reached his ears in time…

Aww, no reaction to the Lightning scare? Shame, he thought, with a casual shrug. She could use some lightening up, aye? "Alright, alright, I'm coming" The blonde would respond to her requests to hurry up as he would catch up and try to walk alongside her. Seems she was still miffed about the little sudden skydiving lesson from last time. Of course, it was something completely out of his control. Lightning would look around, curious as to what kind of ruins they would find themselves in this time.
Obviously, booby trapped ones, it seemed. Because as Josh caught up to her, Izumi would suddenly call out to him. And within moments, the blonde would suddenly roll, just barely dodging the blade that had nearly impaled him right through the head. "Holy shit..." The blonde would mutter as he got to his feet. "Lets go! I doubt that's the last one of them!" He would call toward Izumi as he took off at a run.

Thankfully, her warning had reached his ears; due to the fact that she didn’t see anything that resembled human body parts flying from the spot where he’d been standing just mere moments before the blade swung onerously, attempting t bisect something that wasn’t exactly there in the first place. She’d remained flattened on the wall; until she heard his voice calling to her from a long distance off. Realizing that he’d been calling her way, she then shook her head and snapped out of the dazed reverie she’d gotten stuck in, and inched along the wall—being very careful to avoid the swinging trap—until she was a safe distance away from it and finally peeled herself away from the wall.
She then shouted, “Yo, J! Wait for me!” and breaking out into a sprint, following his retreating figure. “I can’t run as fast as you!” she called down the corridor, letting the adrenaline run its course as she put on an initial burst of speed, the better to keep up with his retreating form. She knew that due to his height, he could take longer strides with his even longer legs—but just as she stopped against a wall to catch her breath, she caught sight of an opening in the wall that seemingly led somewhere. “Hey, Josh, get back here,” she called down the passageway, before slipping into the room. The contents of the room revealed that there was something that looked…awfully familiar.
“Hey, I know this one… at least it’s not the descendant of Mothra,” she muttered to herself, catching her breath as she slowly walked towards the hulking, looming statue and looking up at it. “Heh, I have this… but eh, who cares… as long as it’s something useful…” she continued to mutter out loud as she hopped onto the dais and began poking around the statue. It didn’t take too long for her to find the Pinsirite, which she then carefully pocketed—before looking around the place some more.

Whew, thank god. That was way too close. WAY too close. If Izumi hadn't shot the warning, he'd have probably been cut in half at that point. Luckily, he'd managed to make his way over to a safe area after taking off at a run, after warning Izumi that he was heading that way. He would wait for Izumi to follow before getting too far, of course. He knew that with his 6'2 height in comparison to Izumi's... Five foot something, Josh had the longer legs and could cover more ground in a single bound. Not to mention being quite used to dangerous situations like this certainly helped him in general.
The blonde and Izumi would find themselves in another room, and in front of them stood a large statue of a Pokemon that Josh was familiar with. But the baby was more grown then he was used to seeing from a baby Kangha... Interesting. At the pedestal in front of it was a stone Josh recognized. While he didn't like duplicates, he was sure, as he took it, it would fetch a nice price.
