Post by Damian Moreau on Apr 17, 2015 6:04:36 GMT -5
The moment Damian had gotten word that there was a swarm of things that had wings, he was immediately on it. He’d already blocked off a particular time frame for most of today, in order to allow enough travel time to the place where the alleged swarm was taking place—and he was thus led to the outskirts of Iceburgh, one of the colder cities in the Nue region. The moment he’d set foot beyond the city limits, the signs of the swarm being there became more and more evident—first it started with the clumps of feathers that he could pick out, glistening brightly against the last of winter’s snow that lay on the ground. The deeper he walked into the wilderness surrounding Iceburgh, the more obvious the signs became—more and more clumps of feathers, bird poo, as well as other unmentionable things were showing up with a rather alarming frequency.
“Oh, shit, don’t tell me that this isn’t just a swarm…” he began, sighing as he then quickly plucked out several of his containment units and sent out their occupants, watching as the first one quickly took its place floating right by his head, and the other one hit the ground and began to bark rather loudly. “Yes… Wreck, Blaze… time to get to some clean-up,” he began, watching as his two companions then made their appearances before letting out their respective battle cries—a bark of courage from the Growlithe; and a rather loud, annoying buzzing noise coming from the Magnemite. No sooner had the trio hit the clearing, the Professor was appalled at the sight of the birds that were roosting everywhere—like it was some sort of twisted, crazy attempt at a convention.
“This isn’t a swarm, this is paradise…” he began with this particular glint in his eye, before some of the Taillow closest to where he was standing suddenly let out a battle cry of their own as well. “Oh, crap, incoming! Blaze! Leap into action! Agility! Wreck! Wait for the signal!” he continued, watching as the Growlithe leapt into action, neatly dodging the incoming peppering assault of Quick Attacks and boosting his own speed up via Agility. At the same time, several more of the other avians began to bother the Magnemite—not that it would help matters since their attacks didn’t affect him too much. “Wreck, time to take that new thing out for a spin. Use Flash, quickly! Helps to stun and disorient them!” he added, before quickly turning around and closing his eyes at the same time that the Magnemite suddenly cut loose with a very bright flare, temporarily blinding the incoming Taillows that were attempting to ram their wings at the floating magnet’s body in an attempt to use Wing Attack on the little floating piece of metal.
Ugh, I hate it when that goes off… either way… he thought, before quickly turning around and seeing that there were now several disoriented-looking birds that were flapping around his head. “Blaze! Agility back here and shoot them down with Flamethrower! Wreck, use your Flash Cannon at the same time the flames hit the birds!” he continued, watching as the puppy ‘mon then zipped his way backwards to where they were, currently under attack from a flock of birds. Several of the Flying-types were now in the middle of hammering and battering their bodies against the Magnemite by way of Quick Attack and Wing Attack, depending on what direction they were coming from. The Growlithe then skidded forward again, feeling much lighter on its feet before quickly beginning to spray out a peppering stream of strong, steady flames; while at the same time the little levitating magnet then began to unload bright flashes of light that looked like burnished steel.
Again and again the two repeated the process; and eventually there were several fallen birds that littered the ground; having been subject to either extreme heat or extreme brightness. They were rather disoriented, however—two of them were still looking rather determined, ready to fight to their last. “Oh, come on… you still insist on fighting?” he began sometime later, watching as the pair of determined Flying-types got up once again before attempting to hammer themselves at the two by using a combined Air Slash attack; and a much-larger blade of crossed air then came screaming in towards the two! “Wreck, do it! Lock-On and Zap Cannon them both! Blaze, support with Flamethrower!” he added, pointing forward and hoping that the blade of air didn’t hit the two! The Magnemite then quickly took aim at one of them; and a large target-like projection appeared over its head; while the Growlithe kept up a steady stream of flames. The Fire-type attack didn’t dissipate the incoming Flying-attack; it had taken the effort of one Zap Cannon to dissipate the Flying-type attack completely before exploding all around one of the two Taillows, causing it to fall with a loud thud on the ground.
The other one then let out an indignant squawk of surprise, before the Professor spoke up again, “Once again! Lock-On, Zap Cannon! Flamethrower!” and watched as the exact same thing happened to the other Taillow; who then let out another squawk of fury before coming to a crash-landing atop his comrade-in-arms. “Well… I think that was a bit too much…?” he said with a sheepish chuckle as he then withdrew two empty containment units and chucked them at the pair of fallen Flying-types, watching as they were sucked into the units in two flashes of red light…

Taillow was a Flying Type Pokemon that was high on Josh's priority list, one that he had been having a considerably hard time finding as of late, until now. He hadn't even realized these birds had a habitat in Iceburgh until he started collecting berries that could only be found in the snow covered area, only for one of the bastards to swoop in and attempt to steal them. Josh caught sight of it immediately, and chuckled as he would quickly toss a pokeball into the air. "Go, Thresher!" Josh would call. "Gabite!" Josh's new Gabite would let out as the ball opened up to bring the bugger out. Thresher had just recently evolved from a Gible in a battle with Yumi. And he was eager to try this new Gabite out in battle.
"Alright Thresher! Use Dragon Rush!" Josh would call as the fins on the Gabite's back would seem to engage before the Gabite would launch himself into the air. "GAAAAAAAAA-BIIIIIIIITE!" Thresher let out as he would suddenly collide with the Taillow, sending it crashing to the ground.
Overkill? Maybe.
"Dragon Claw!" Josh would call, holding his arms out as he got into the spirit of the fight. So was Thresher apparently as his claws would glow green as he would charge the downed Taillow, who was still trying to get his bearings before he would slam one claw into the Taillow, sending it crashing into a tree. "One more!" Josh would call to Thresher, who would attack again, slamming the other claw into the prone Taillow. "You can't let him take flight again, Thresher! If you do, you're going to have a hard time keeping up with it!" He called. He was taking this fight seriously, Josh knew that with Taillow's speed, if it could get on a roll in the air, Thresher was going to have a difficult time. It was best to rush it and take it down early. But Taillow would take advantage of the brief moment to charge the Gabite, trying to make sure that it didn't get its hit. "To the left, Thresher, and hit to the side!" Josh would call as the Gabite would nod and sidestep the charge all of a sudden while halting its advance, before quickly slamming the Dragon Claw into the Taillow, slamming it into the ground quickly, this time, hard. Taillow didn't seem to be moving as Josh would toss a Poke Ball at the Taillow.
