After the events of Richissime, and quite some time after Josh getting mugged, attacked by a crazed agent, and all kinds of crazy stuff... Things had finally begun to be at peace. The blonde had decided to hold off on traveling for a little while, at least a few days in order to spend time at home and rest after all the recent adventures. And he had asked Izumi to join him. Their house was nearing completion, it wouldn't be long before they would begin finishing it, and then they would be roomies. And then, of course, they would most likely be here more often. I mean, if you've got a nice house all your own and you're able to fly here at will, why would you not?
As Josh sat in the grass, staring out at the sky, with Lightning sitting at his side, they waited for Izumi to arrive. She was late, oddly enough... But Josh couldn't help but worry about Gustave, his Bulbasaur. Sure, Gustave was fine now, but he remembered when he had gotten sick... Had begun glowing. His mother had reassured him, but Gustave's bulb had begun glowing again recently... And oddly enough, flowers had been blooming everywhere on the ranch, as if from nowhere...

To be honest, the reason why Izumi was late to their unscheduled, and most definitely unexpected meeting was because she’d gone over to the nearest “veterinarian” (or what qualified as such in the PokeVerse) in order to get her Ariadne down for a check-up. Ever since that fateful day they’d encountered the Pinsir in the Safari Zone, her Bulbasaur had been feeling pretty much under the weather, and she had absolutely no idea as to why it was happening to her own Pokémon, of all things.
A rather unusual sign that the vet had taken note of, and eventually advised the raven-haired girl, was that plants were suddenly bursting into bloom when the sick Bulbasaur was around—even if the aforementioned plants and flowers were out of season. Gah, what the hell’s wrong with her?! She thought with a worried look on her face as she quickly zoomed in for a four-point landing astride Sora, her Braviary—before quickly recalling the avian into his containment unit and seeing that he was already there, sitting and looking up rather absent-mindedly at the heavens.
“Hey, Josh,” she began, a rather subdued tone in her voice, before looking around and seeing that, quite surprisingly, there were flowers shooting up out of the grass—even if spring had just begun, why the hell was the field they were in loaded with fire flowers that she knew only bloomed in the heat of summer?!

Finally, Izumi would arrive. "Hey, where have you been?" He would ask, obviously concerned. She looked to be worried sick about something, and the blonde had picked up on that instantly as he would quickly get to his feet, walking over to her and wrapping his arms around her, worry in his eyes as he looked into her own.
"Izumi, what's wrong?" He would ask, before noting that indeed, the fire flowers had begun blooming again, and had started blooming all around them even with the Pokeball'd Ariadne with Izumi, despite it being in it's containment unit. "Yeah, I know the flowers have been acting weird. It's been this way for a little while now" He would add, noting her interest in the flowers even though she had not spoken of them.
They had been blooming more rapidly lately... And had been doing so ever since Josh had brought Gustave home when he was sick.

“I stopped over in Bosky before heading out here, I just had to check with a vet… just to make sure that this is a normal thing with my own Bulbasaur,” she remarked, before looking down at the unusually-colored containment unit that now housed her slumbering Grass-type; she was definitely feeling under the weather. She then realized that majority of her field of vision was obscured by the much-taller Trainer, who’d wrapped his arms around her and voiced out his concern.
“I’m just worried about my Ariadne. It started after that Safari trip where I encountered that weird-ass bug that very nearly tore us in half had it not been for Ravana and Zan,” she continued, knowing that the distress was most definitely real. At his words, she then looked up at him, a crinkle of concern furrowing her eyebrows. “Wait. What do you mean by what you said… that it’s been ‘this way for a little while now’…?” she trailed off, looking at him with an inquiring stare in her eyes. What had made him voice out that way; was there something really wrong?
Was it the weather? Or was it what the vet had informed her of before she’d left the Hamlet in a hurry…?

"A normal thing with your Bulbasaur?" He would inquire curiously, raising an eyebrow when she would answer. His gaze turned down to the flowers that had begun blooming more rapidly. He had to wonder, then... Could it be the same reason as his Bulbasaur was acting strangely? He was suspicious, for sure, and he would take a breath before looking back at Izumi, still obstructing most of her view with his own, his nose almost touching hers as he made sure to continue to meet her eyes as much as he could. This was serious, he could tell and she was obviously worried for one reason or another.
"Hmm..." He began, tilting his head. "That's interesting..." He would add, seeming to be in thought. It definitely had to be it! It was right after a battle, and something was wrong with her Bulbasaur, and now the flowers were blooming? Then Izumi would ask her question, and he would smirk a bit.
"Well... Let me ask a question. Did your Bulbasaur suddenly get sick, and then it's bulb started glowing this weird blue color?" He would inquire curiously. He figured he knew, but best to make sure.

She was too sunken in the cloud of worry that had enveloped her; and his steady stare right into her own eyes caused her cheeks to flush pink—it was pretty much a normal thing now. Still, the way he was looking right into her eyes was a bit unsettling—it reminded her of the time that she’d tried to confess but had ended in disaster. Once Izumi heard the question that he’d posed, she then looked up, rather curious—why did he know about it?
“Well, after that battle with the Shieldon, she fell from Zan’s back and landed on a patch of rock. But what was absolutely strange there was the fact that when I carried her, there was this patch of grass that I could swear wasn’t there before she’d taken the spill from…his back,” she ended, finally deciding to appropriate Zan with the masculine pronoun of description—flashy, gaudy, sparkly color aside.
“What’s more, I felt that she was like… on fire, but unfortunately I didn’t notice if the bulb was glowing. That’s about it, really… and now I’m worried…why are the flowers blooming everywhere?” she pondered out loud, before looking to him for an answer. Maybe he knew what was going on, the way he’d posed that inquiry and stared right into her eyes?

Bingo.
He would nod when she gave her explanation. It was exactly what he had thought it was. Hopefully, he could explain this to her, but first up, she needed a bit of comfort and he would do that by wrapping his arms around the raven haired girl, pulling her into a tight hug and holding her close. He would let a hand trail down her back gently, up and down, as another hand would play with her hair. This was something he did every little once in awhile now, usually when she was upset.
"Yeah, I know what's going on" He would reveal, smiling at her. "Just... Stop worrying, okay? I promise you, nothing is wrong with Ariadne. At all. Actually, to prove it to you, let's go inside, shall we?" He would request as Lightning would get up, knowing where this was going. "Let's go see mom, she can examine Ariadne. I promise you, it'll be okay" He said. "And she'll explain what's going on"
He noticed flowers blooming near another spot a little ways from them, and he knew what that was. "Hey, Gustave!" Josh would call, seeing the Bulbasaur walk between the blooming flowers. If Izumi cared to notice, his bulb was giving a faint glow as well. Not as much as it had been at first, but it was still there, for sure... "We're going to go check on Izumi's Bulbasaur! Wanna come?" He would offer. "Bulba!" Gustave would respond as he would run over, as Josh took Izumi's hand gently and led her inside the lab.

Obviously, the raven-haired girl was still worried for the state of her Bulbasaur; given the fact that she was acting all peculiar and was looking pretty much under the weather as of late. She could only tremble as Josh held her closer, trying his best to comfort her. “I-I’m scared. What if there’s something wrong with her, and…” she trailed off, wrapping her arms around his, inhaling the scent of his clothes and getting lost in his embrace. “I… I hope this is just a passing thing…” she muttered, a bit muffled as she hugged him closer, tighter. Never had she any ‘mons that had gotten sick before—well, Momiji was the exception to the rule, but that had happened long time ago, back when she was still recovering from that dark, stormy night…
Seeing that he had some sort of an answer to her little dilemma, she nodded, before taking a few deep breaths in order to be able to calm herself down. She was pretty much panicking on the inside, because what if that odd thing continued? She hadn’t dared to use her Ariadne ever since that little spill against the Shieldon; worried that it might affect her even worse. As the two began to make their way into Serena’s lab—that also served as her research quarters—she then noticed that even his own Bulbasaur was acting all ornery and strange—passing right through the patch of blooming fire flowers.
What really got her attention was the fact that… Wait a second, am I seeing things or is his bulb-thing glowing?! she thought to herself, feeling the panic rising up inside her as she allowed him to lead her inside.

As they came inside, Gustave and Lightning would follow them in as they walked into the lab slash house. Well, both, you could say. It was big enough, at least, she had the necessary room. "Mom!" Josh would call out into the lab. "Can you come look at something? Izumi has the issue with her Bulbasaur, the same one Gustave has! Can you come comfort her before she throws a fit like she did when her mother showed me her baby pictures and the one with her in that little waitress uniform?" He would call, totally teasing Izumi on that last part to at least put a smile on her face.
An amused Serena would come down from upstairs, smiling warmly at Izumi. "Alright, Izumi. Right this way" She said as she would lead them to the lab part, something Izumi had never seen before. There were machines everywhere, well organized and lots of equipment for research and experimentation. It seemed her genius had no boundaries. "Now, can you let out your Bulbasaur and place her on the table here so I can examine her?" Serena would ask warmly over at her, trying to make it sound as harmless as possible to comfort her.

Thankfuly, Josh seemed to have the answer to her little problem, and followed him silently into Serena’s home/lab setup. She then let him take charge of the situation—but suddenly felt herself cinching up her elbow and jabbing him in the side once he’d mentioned the one thing that should never be mentioned to other people (the baby picture) especially when she was in a state of such distress. “Ohh, you fiend,” she hissed, jabbing him again a few more times with her elbow, before giving him what she felt was her best attempt at a “glare” at that point.
“I thought we agreed that you’re not going to mention the pictures to anyone else?!” she began, hissing like a wet cat as she then elbowed him again before Serena came into view. She was certainly familiar with the more… homey aspect of Serena’s place; but the laboratory was just somewhere she didn’t dare venture—simply because she knew that the lab was pretty much “off-limits” unless she had a perfectly valid reason for venturing into the place. Now that she was finally going to be able to get some answers, she then looked around a bit apprehensively—what was it with all these machinery anyway?
Once they’d drawn up to one of the steel tables that had a light hanging above it (the whole set up looked like she was in a crime lab or something) she then looked around once more, before plucking out one of the two containment units and sending out her Bulbasaur once more, who materialized from the flash of red light with a rather confused look on her face. “Uhhm. I’ve kept her within her containment unit as much as possible, because what if it’s allergic, or contagious? And… all these flowers, suddenly blooming… it makes no sense at all,” she said, hoping the feeble explanation would be enough; in contrast to how Josh had termed it with such detail.

Post by Josh Dragomir on Mar 20, 2015 7:27:33 GMT -5
The firs thing that Josh felt was a series of elbows poking his sides. It seemed that Izumi was not happy with him mentioning her worst fear, the dreaded baby pictures. He would snirk before looking over at Izumi as she would viciously hiss at him. At the very least, she was less worried about her Bulbasaur, which was his intention.
"Hey, I never agreed to such a thing" He would respond with a grin. It was true, he had never actually AGREED to never tell anybody... Much less not tell his mom. It looked like Izumi was out of luck in this situation. Poor girl. Serena seemed amused at the situation, but would lead them into the lab regardless. Once they had been led into the lab, one which Josh hardly got to see, though he'd gotten to see it a few times in the past as she had loved to show him what she was working on when he was actually home... And once she had led them to the table where Izumi would bring out her Bulbasaur, Josh would chuckle as Gustave would look up at the other confused Bulbasaur. "Bulba!" He chirped, seeming thrilled to meet one of his own kind. It seemed that somehow, Gustave had yet to meet Ariadne, and besides Ceres, Gustave's mother, Josh did not own another Bulbasaur besides Ceres and Gustave himself. He had a male and a female Bulbasaur, he didn't really need anymore of them for the moment.
Serena would get to work, investigating the Bulbasaur, and examining her. Her gaze would stop at the glowing bulb, and she would nod, acknowledging Izumi's concern and her words about the blooming flowers. She would smile before looking over at Izumi. "Well, Izumi. You don't have to worry about a thing. Your Bulbasaur is going to be fine!" She would reveal warmly. "She has the same thing as Gustave, I remember Josh ran in here with him in tow while he was sick too, with the same symptoms. You see, Izumi.. Gustave and Ariadne aren't sick..." She began.

To be fair, her own female Bulbasaur was looking around curiously; and was contemplating on whether or not to let out the vines—because what was it with all these humans suddenly poking around at her?! Ariadne then looked rather apprehensively at Izumi; but the raven-haired girl was busy hissing and attempting to reach up and yank at his hair, the better to make him keep quiet about the dread secret that he’d let slip! “Can it, or you get more elbows to the face,” she continued to hiss like a wet cat—because truth be told, if there was something she was totally uncomfortable with, it was the mention of those pictures and the event that had happened not too long after that photo was snapped that sent her all on the defensive.
Meanwhile, Ariadne continued to look up at the red-headed older woman with much curiosity—and then saw that there was a fellow Bulbasaur nearby! It was at this point Izumi then looked up and saw that… there was something definitely amiss with her own Bulba’s bulb—why the hell was it glowing a shade of blue so vivid now, all of a sudden?! Once she’d heard Serena’s words, she then cast a rather withering glare at Josh, before it softened when she realized that even he had been in her situation; she could see the mental image forming right now. “So… she’s going to be okay? When is she… well, when are they going to evolve?” she asked with a curious tone in her voice; before approaching and hugging her own Bulba, who’d only noticed at this point in time that her own bulb was glowing rather weirdly.
“Bulbaaaaa,” she heard her own Ariadne croon once the raven-haired girl had smushed herself against the Pokémon in a tight hug. “Bulba…bulbasaur?” she heard her ‘mon ask, before she looked down at it. “D-don’t scare me like that again, okay?” she whispered, before patting her on the head and tickling her chin.

"Is this because you dropped the plates afterword and made a big mess" Josh would tease quietly toward Izumi in response to her vigorously elbowing him. To be truthful, Josh was really only continuing this because Izumi was elbowing him and making a big stinkinator over it. But Izumi making a stinkinator in some shape or form was normal, wasn't it? Huh? Huuuuh? Right. Anyway, Izumi would finally stop elbowing the poor guy enough to listen to his mother explain that her giant cabbage wasn't going to wilt after all. Actually, it was going to turn into a giant cabbage with a pink seed thing on it's back. Cool, right?
Gustave would let his vines out and wave toward the other Bulbasaur in greeting. It seemed they were both evolving, huh? Gustave had to wonder just when they would evolve, though... Josh smiled faintly as Izumi had her little relief reunion with her Bulbasaur, and Serena would nod before answering her question.
"You see, Izumi.. A mysterious garden appears in Nue every once in awhile. Once it appears, groups of Bulbasaur leave to go there to participate in some kind of ceremony. When they return to their Trainers, they've evolved" She would explain. Of course, that meant that Izumi probably would not get to see Ariadne evolve...
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Mar 20, 2015 9:20:39 GMT -5
“Say that again one more time, mister, and you’re going to pay. Dearly, might I add,” she hissed his way once she’d looked up, feeling herself bristle up like a cat that had been dunked in a tub of frigidly-cold water. Over at where her Bulbasaur was now touching vines with the other one who was some distance away (on the floor, at least from Ariadne’s vantage point) she could feel the bulb-like protrusion on her back getting all hot and heavy. Was it normal? She then saw that her fellow Bulba’s bulb was also glowing, before she made a move to poke his bulb with one of her vines. “Bulba, bulbasaur? Bulba?” she inquired in Gustave’s direction, before pointing to her own bulb with her other vine.
Once Serena had mentioned that the Bulbasaurs that were getting ready to evolve would have to leave them temporarily, she felt her emotions suddenly take a nosedive. “Wait… what?I… we won’t get to see our Bulbasaurs evolve?” she began with a crestfallen look on her face. Most of, if not all the time, she’d seen all the ‘mons in her care evolve and change shape right before her very eyes—looks like this was going to be an unusual exception to the rule.
“Wait… how do they know how to get back to us if they’re leaving? They’re not going t-to get lost, are they?” she continued with a rather apprehensive tone, giving her Ariadne another reassuring pet with her free hand. “We really can’t sneak off and f-follow them to watch them evolve, can we?” she ended with a quieter tone to her voice.

"And what're you gonna do, sit on me?" He would joke into her ear with a chuckle. Oh, the teasing was on again. Of course, Serena couldn't hear, she was too busy doing a check up on the "ill" Bulbasaur, who Gustave would shake the "hand" vine of with his own Power Whip vine in greeting. It was nice to see one of his own kind around here for once, it seemed and Gustave quite seemed to enjoy it. The Bulbasaur would nod when Ariadne would inquire about her bulb. It seemed to be that it was happening to him too, and it was quite normal. Josh would frown, as would Serena at Izumi's crestfallen look. Josh had the same reaction when he found out that he couldn't see it as well. It was so different...
"I'm afraid humans are not allowed into the garden. Nobody has ever seen the ceremony" She would explain. "Somehow, their instincts seem to take them there, and home as well. But... Perhaps it's best you guys go rest. You've obviously had a long day. Ariadne can rest here, and like Gustave, she will feel better soon enough" She offered.
