Now that the Valentines’ things were in full swing, she made sure to make a mental note to stop by the other booths once this was over. But for now, she wanted to let her heart out and just sing until she could drop dead-tired from sore throat! Hoping that Josh was in a rather… ‘festive’ mood, she then quickly dialed his number and left him a voice message, asking him to come over to the mall where the booths had been set up; and to join her for a one-on-one, heart-to-heart singing session!
She found it rather unique that not only did the Couples’ Karaoke had a stage for shameless people to go on, prance and sing their hearts out; but there were also several booths set up for a more…private function; or in her case, there was no way she was going to be singing in front of a whole bunch of people with her shower voice!
As she then waited for her companion to show up, she then grabbed the book that had the listing of songs inscribed in it, and began to thumb through the pages. Most of them were either extremely cheesy (or way out of her league to sing at her current voice pitch) so she continued to search through the book, trying to find something that she could sing out loud within the room without having to embarrass herself… and after a few more pages had slipped by, she found the selection of songs that she was hoping existed!
“Hell yes,” she muttered to herself as she then made her way over to the machine, before punching in a series of several numbers—she’d entered two five-digit codes; and then made a prompt scramble back to the seat before grabbing the first mic, turning it on and testing to make sure that it was working.
Once the music had started, she then began her cue, hoping that Josh wouldn’t walk in on her singing ‘I won’t say I’m in Love’ in the process! Now that the cue had begun, she then let herself get lost in the music…
“Shinjite damasarete kanashi me ni atta Otoko nante kori kori anna omoi mou iiya
Herakuresu ni koishiteru kuse ni uso tsuitemo hanii o mito oshi yo Wakatteru wa ima nani kangaeteru ka?
Oohh Joudan deshou iienai no no
Tameiki naze na no?
Bakarashii koishitenai wa Wakatteiru hazu yo mune no kizui tamu Kokoro hari sakesou yo naku no dake wa mou iiya…”
What made this even more crazy was the fact that she was also singing the second voices; and she was secretly thankful that she’d selected the song in the dialect of Shui (who knew that the language was big even in this part of Nue?) so that at least, if Josh just happened to walk in on her, he wouldn’t make out the lyrics to what she was singing!
(song is I won't say I'm in Love in Japanese, just in case you're wondering what the hell it is)

For someone who wasn't expecting Josh to show up while she was singing her first round of karaoke, Izumi sure took a lot of precautions in case he did show up. "Luckily" for the Smellynator, Josh had been watching. The whole time. As soon as she'd started. He'd come in and started looking for her just beforehand, but when he did find her, she was already on stage. She was singing in some weird language though, probably her second language, the Shui ripoff one. Alas, he would smile as he would watch, leaning against a pole with Lightning on his shoulder. "That must be Izumi's shower singing voice" He would joke to the Pikachu, who would let out a Pika-Snicker in response.
Once the song ended and people clapped, Josh would clap along with them. This was where if Izumi looked around, she might find him staring at her with the most amused smile on his face. Of course, he'd already picked his song for his round... Dear god, it was going to be a rubberneckin good time.

It was safe to say that Izumi had gotten lost in the groove of the song—and had actually busted out her moves at that point in time; the better to keep up with the beat! She then held onto the microphone as best as she could while belting out the rest of the lyrics, keeping up with not just the main, but second voices as well;
“Kakusanaide anata no kimochi wo Baby soro soro otona ni naru no yo Kokoro no mama butsukatte goran saa saa hyaku
Ooooh joudan deshou iienai no no
Hora mite Kore wa koi yo
Mou yamete koishiteru nante
Ijippari na ko ne koi yo…”
Right at this point in time she thought she saw a familiar hair of blonde suddenly make an appearance; along with a Pikachu on its shoulder. Oh, kamisama no haa why did you have to show up NOW of all times?! She thought, suddenly feeling her face turn an unhealthy shade of red. Well, nothing to do now but to wing it and just wrap it up, I’m at the good part! She continued to herself as she picked up the pace with the last part of the song;
“Warui kedo ienai wa
Iiwanai
Zettai iiwanai wa
Muki ni naranaide koi yo
Ohhhh honto wa ne I won't say I'm in love”
The last part literally made her blush to all hell as she turned away and recognized just who was at the back of the crowd with such an evil grin on his face, the Devil would’ve been proud. Shit, shit, shit I am so dead! The last part gave it away! She thought as she then hopped off the stage before approaching him—and attempting to bop him on the head for showing up without warning
“Gah, now you know how I sound like,” she began, muttering rather darkly to herself as she then saw the score announced… “Oh, dear. My shower voice got that high a score? For real?!” she added, resisting the urge to hide herself behind him now; the entire thing was now out the window!
WORDS 351 TAGSJosh Dragomir NOTESYou go up and sing there now, if you're so clever. Go on!

And then Izumi decided to burst into a second song. And dance. And Josh was laughing his ass off, as was the Pikachu. Oh lord, this was just too good. Finally, the crazy kook with a shower singing voice would hop off the stage as the songs ended and head over. "Looks like they liked your shower singing voice, Zu" He would tease with a grin as he would dodge the head bop from her upcoming fist. "Guess it's my turn, huh?" He would suggest with a shrug. "Hold my beer" He joked, handing her invisible beer and taking the stage. God, this was his first time doing this... Why did he have to do this? But he already knew what song he was going to sing. Standing on stage with people watching them, Lightning was even more of a nervous wreck than he was, and would sit on his head and start pulling at the sides of his mouth. "Piiiikaaaa! Piiiiikaaa!" Lightning would cry out, wanting to get off the stage so people would stop staring at them. Josh smiled up at Lightning and patted his head. "Relax, Lightning" He spoke softly. "It's gonna be okay. We can do this" He said, as the Pikachu would seem to calm down a bit and stop tormenting his Trainer with pain.
"Uhh.." He muttered as he was handed a microphone, whispering the song to the booth junkie before taking a deep breath. Once the song came on, a slower one, gentler... He would start to sing. With a nervous voice, but with a hint of honeyed gentleness and a bit of passion all rolled up into one package.
"A lonely road, crossed another cold state line Miles away from those I love, purpose hard to find While I recall all the words you spoke to me Can't help but wish that I was there Back where I'd love to be, oh yeah...."
Lightning had calmed at this point, climbing down to his shoulder, matching the relaxed demeanor of his Trainer now as he sang. Josh was terrified, but he tried not to show it. Ah, how hard of a time Rachel would give him if she saw this. Luckily, she never seemed to be around when Izumi was. Thank fuck.
"Dear God, the only thing I ask of you Is to hold her when I'm not around When I'm much too far away We all need that person who can be true to you But I left her when I found her And now I wish I'd stayed 'Cause I'm lonely and I'm tired I'm missing you again, oh no... Once again"
His confidence began to build, a small smile began to cross his face as the crowd seemed to enjoy the spectacle. The nervousness began to fade away as he would relax and begin to enjoy the time up there. While he wasn't dancing like a monkey like Izumi was, he didn't need to. Just sing, relax, sing and let that do the work for you.
"There's nothing here for me, on this barren road There's no one here while the city sleeps And all the shops are closed Can't help but think of the times I've had with you Pictures and some memories will have to help me through, oh yeah"
Lightning seemed to get the idea, snatching the lighter from his Trainer's pocket before climbing onto his head and managing to turn the lighter on with his Pika fingers. He would hold up the lit lighter and start waving it left and right in the air as his Trainer sang, absolutely oblivious to whatever his Pikachu was doing. Whether he was trying to help him, or mock him, he would never know. But it got a couple of giggles from the audience as cell phones would raise up as well as lighters, just to indulge the adorable Pikachu on his head with a lighter. Josh would notice this, and would look up, just enough to see the Pikachu with his lighter. He would raise an eyebrow...
"... What the hell is he doing?" Josh thought, but he had no time to dwell on it before he had to sing again.
"Dear God, the only thing I ask of you Is to hold her when I'm not around When I'm much too far away We all need that person who can be true to you I left her when I found her And now I wish I'd stayed 'Cause I'm lonely and I'm tired I'm missing you again, oh no... Once again.... Some search, never finding a way Before long, they waste away I found you, something told me to stay I gave in, to selfish ways And how I miss someone to hold When hope begins to fade...
A lonely road, crossed another cold state line Miles away from those I love, purpose hard to find
Dear God, the only thing I ask of you Is to hold her when I'm not around When I'm much too far away We all need the person who can be true to you I left her when I found her And now I wish I'd stayed 'Cause I'm lonely and I'm tired I'm missing you again, oh no... Once again......"
The blonde would finish the song, nervous once again. He didn't know if he had done well... He would take a deep breath as the Pikachu would hand him back the lighter once he climbed back onto his shoulder, which Josh promptly shut off before looking out to the audience, and to Izumi who was probably grinning like a madwoman at this point, to gauge a reaction. Uuuuugh... Why did he do this? Why did he agree to this? Why the blue hell was he on stage? He felt like a Magicarp. Mentally Flopping. Splashing. In public. Splashing and flopping and floundering and splashing and splashing and splashing. And floundering. And a bit more splashing and flopping. Did it ever end?

Izumi knew that she was going to be in for it; but how better to get back at Josh than to watch him actually march up to the stage that she’d vacated, and fiddle around with the machine—and actually belt out a song of his own? She then chuckled as she leaned against the post, crossing her arms above her chest as the shampoo commercial model blonde started singing something on stage. She had no idea what the hell it was; but from the way it sounded it was speaking volumes—at least to him. But for the most part, the beginnings of an evil grin so wide, the Devil would’ve been very pleased at her had appeared on her face.
She could only guess if the song was dedicated to his missing father of some sort—the lyrics gave her that impression, anyway. She tried her damned hardest not to burst out laughing, because halfway through the song, Lightning had somehow gotten his hands on Josh’s lighter and had somehow managed to flick it on, before waving it around for the rest of the song that Josh had finished. Was it just her, or was he about to break down after that last verse? She’d reserve the questions for later, though…
The moment he was done and hopped off the stage, she then unfolded her arms from her chest and then rubbed them in a very evil manner. “So… I didn’t know that the Sassmaster was also a crooner,” she began, giving him a leery grin before bopping him lightly on the cheek with one of her fists. “Let me guess… that song was for your father, hm?” she continued with a much more solemn look on her face—before suddenly getting an idea in order to be able to break the solemnity of the situation. “Alright, wait right here, I’ll be right back,” she said, bopping him again before hopping back up on the stage and then punching in the 5-digit code for the second song.
As she grabbed the mic, she heard the cue, and had to resist the urge to burst out laughing because honestly, the first few lines were part of the entire song itself… and once the pitch had changed, she took a deep breath, and began to sing;
“In Napoli where love is king When boy meets girl Here's what they sing
When the moon hits your eye Like a big pizza pie, that's amore When the world seems to shine Like you've had too much wine, that's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling Ting-a-ling-a-ling and you'll sing, "Vita bella" Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay Tippy-tippy-tay like a gay tarantella…”
When the stars make you drool Just like a pasta e fasuli, that's amore When you dance down the street With a cloud at your feet, you're in love
When you walk in a dream But you know, you're not dreaming signore Scusa me, but you see Back in old Napoli, that's amore…”
At this point she felt her face flush another shade of red; because why the hell was she singing this song, wasn’t it supposed to be him singing this instead of her on the stage?! But in any case, Izumi bravely plunged on forward with the song, knowing that her ears were now definitely way past crimson-red in terms of the blush spectrum;
“When the moon hits your eye Like a big pizza pie, that's amore That's amore When the world seems to shine Like you've had too much wine, that's amore That's amore
Bells will ring ting-a-ling-a-ling Ting-a-ling-a-ling and you'll sing, "Vita bella" Hearts will play tippy-tippy-tay Tippy-tippy-tay like a gay tarantella Lucky fella
When the stars make you drool Just like a pasta e fasuli, that's amore That's amore When you dance down the street With a cloud at your feet, you're in love
When you walk in a dream But you know, you're not dreaming signore Scusa me, but you see Back in old Napoli, that's amore That's amore~!”
The really freaky thing was that she’d also sung out the parts of the second voices—which made it ten kinds of creepy at least on her end—but she knew that if she did so, her score would be higher. I mean, look at the first one, I did not just the main character’s, but also the Muses’ voices… this one’s pretty much the same! Ack! Did I manage the shifting right?! She thought as she then hopped off the stage again with a triumphant look on her face—only somewhat ruined by the immense blush that had taken over her face at this point in time. “Top that,” she retorted with a grin in his direction.
(song is "That's Amore" by Dean Martin, the orange parts are the second voices; the blue is the main lyrics per se)

"Zuzu... I'm going to fucking spank you" He hissed in her ear with a smirk to her teasing, but sighed in response. "Yeah... It was" He whispered, staring at the ground. "It just... Felt right to sing that one, I guess" He would admit. "It... It felt right. Because I'll probably never see him again, and I miss him, and he was my hero and such... Y'know?" He would admit softly, a whisper in the wind, taking a deep breath.
But his spirits would lift to a more amused one when Izumi would take the stage. And he watched her sing. In her shower voice. Annnd then she would come and tell him to top that.
Challenge accepted.
He would stick his tongue out at her. "There's a side of me, Zuzu sweetheart... That you haven't seen just yet. Be scared" He would tease and take the stage. This time, he looked more confident, and ready. He smirked over at the booth guy and muttered the song over to him. Boom, it was time, he would try something a lot riskier.
"So..." He began as he would take the microphone. "I'm going to throw a few different kinds of songs at y'all and see what sticks, if that's alright. Two songs, I'll pull this round. Dramatically different. See what you guys like" He said with a grin. "Enjoy!"
And with that, the music would start... He took a breath, and began to sing. With a different tone this time. He sung faster, with a more regular sounding voice
"Yeah here we go for the hundredth time Hand grenade pins in every line Throw 'em up and let something shine Going out of my f'in mind Filthy mouth, no excuse Find a new place to hang this noose String me up from atop these roofs Knot it tight so I won't get loose Truth is you can stop and stare Bled myself out and no one cares Dug the trench out laid down there With a shovel up out of reach somewhere Yeah, someone pour it in Make it a dirt dance floor again Say your prayers and stomp it out When they bring that chorus in!"
Josh would point out to the crowd, who was starting to dig this change. He seemed quite... Versatile. And then his tone changed, to a more... Metal style?
He was a metalhead?
"I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away Just to throw it away Just to throw it away I bleed it out!"
People were stunned from the fact he switched from the fast style, to a metal styled tone. The Pikachu was even stunned, but as Josh started to get into it, moving around the stage, pointing out to the crowd, and really feeling it. And then he switched back to the fast, normal sounding style.
"Go stop the show Choppy words and a sloppy flow Shotgun opera lock and load Cock it back and then watch it go Mama help me I've been cursed Death is rolling in every verse Candy paint on his brand new hearse Can't contain him he knows he works Crap, this hurts, I won't lie Doesn't matter how hard I try Half the words don't mean a thing And I know that I won't be satisfied So why try ignoring him? Make it a dirt dance floor again Say your prayers and stomp it out When they bring that chorus in!"
The pattern was evident now, the crowd was getting it. Josh shot a cheeky grin over to Izumi, just showing off for her now. As he switched back to the metal style, he tried to get a bit louder, the "screams" coming out more like growls. But he was trying. People were digging it, at least.
"I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away Just to throw it away Just to throw it away I bleed it out I've opened up these scars I'll make you face this!" He let out the last part with a growl.
"I've pulled myself so far I'll make you face this now!" As he let out another one, taking a breath, shooting Izumi a grin.
"I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away Just to throw it away Just to throw it away
I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away I bleed it out digging deeper Just to throw it away Just to throw it away Just to throw it away I bleed it out I bleed it out I bleed it ouuuut!"
As he finished, he grabbed a glass of water. He was surprised at the positive reaction, he honest to goodness was. Once he would take a few sips of water, he whispered the next song over to the sound guy.
"Alright..." He began, with a chuckle. "Something different, see if you guys can dig this" He said as the song would begin playing...
"Stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy It's called rubberneckin' baby well that's all right with me!"
He would chuckle a bit after this, gauging Izumi's face for a reaction. The change to classic rock was... Interesting. And what did he do after this? The confident bastard would shoot Izumi a cheeky wink! Oh, he was enjoying this now.
"Stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy It's called rubberneckin' baby but that's all right with me People say I'm wasting time, but they don't really know I like what I see and I see what I like, it gives me such a glow"
Josh would point out to people, moving around the stage. Even Lightning was moving around, obviously enjoying itself.
"First thing in the morning, last thing at night I look, stare everywhere and see everything inside
Hey hey hey Stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy It's called rubberneckin' baby well that's all right with me Stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy It's called rubberneckin' baby but that's all right with me Some people say I'm wasting time, but they don't really know I see what I like and I like what I see, it gives me such a glow
Sittin' on the back porch all by myself Along came Mary Jane with somebody else
Well, stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy It's called rubberneckin' baby but that's all right with me Some people say I'm wasting time yeh, but I don't really care I like what I see, I see what I like yeh, it gives me such a glow
Sittin' on the back porch all by myself Along came Mary Jane with somebody else
Well, stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy It's called rubberneckin' baby but that's all right with me Stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy Stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy Stop, look and listen baby that's my philosophy"
People would clap and the blonde would give a bow as he handed the mic off and climbed off stage, walking over to Izumi and taking a breath, grinning over at her. "So? Think I topped it?" He would tease. "Never doubt me, sweetheart. I'm full of surprises" He teased again, booping her nose playfully. "Honestly though, think I need a break. And you probably do too. Why don't we go visit the ice cream booth nearby?" He would inquire. Had this turned into a date or what?
He just wondered how Izumi would react to seeing different sides to him... A metal side, a somber side, a charismatic side... Even a confident one. It was so different.

Now that Josh had somehow accepted her challenge and had climbed up the stage again—and this time punched in not just one, but two songs—she then proceeded to fold her arms across her chest again and leaned against one of the pillars as she then watched him belt out something that sounded… vaguely familiar.
She could pick out the tune of the song, but the artist had eluded her mind; who the hell had sang the first song and why did it really sound like something that was currently tumbling through her mind right now?! Teasing first, thinking about what he sang later! She chastised herself in the back of her mind as she then cracked another devilish grin in his direction; before hearing the strains of the second song blare out once the first one had ended.
Izumi then felt her own ears flush into the crimson-red territory of ‘oh Arceus why’ once the second song was underway; what kind of a song had that kind of lyrics?! Was it really an indirect jab at their current status?! I am so going to get you later! Just wait and see! She continued to think in the back of her mind—and she then suddenly remembered which band had sung the first song he’d picked up and gone on to perform! Now you’re giving me crazy ideas. Alright, that’s it! I’ll bust out a few more songs for you! I hope you get the subtle digging hints! She ended in the back of her mind with an evil grin on her face as she then watched him cavort across the stage; seemingly dancing in time with the song. Once the second song had ended and he’d taken a bow, she then spotted him heading her way; and even if there were hints of a faint blush on her face, she then proceeded to bop him across the side of the head.
“Now you’ve done it. Now you’ve definitely done it,” she began, hissing as softly as she could before suddenly getting an idea. “Hah, I got an idea. We sing five songs each, and then we can go out for something to drink… how’s that? I’ll top you one and raise you a few songs better!” she added, unfolding her arms and answering the call of the crowd who’d turned out to watch; apparently wanting so much more. “Alright, alright, I’ll indulge them. But don’t say I didn’t warn you!” she trailed off, winking deviously in Josh’s direction before taking to the stage again.
Who knew that the raven-haired girl had several fans; and once she’d made her appearance again, some of the people began whooping and cheering for her, as she then quickly made to punch in not just one, but two more song codes. As the music of the first song blared through the tinny speakers, a hush fell across the stage as she grabbed the mic and began to sing, rather softly at first;
“There's a calm surrender to the rush of day When the heat of a rolling wind can be turned away An enchanted moment and it sees me through It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight? How it's laid to rest It's enough to make kings and vagabonds Believe the very best…”
If that wasn’t subtle enough, she then shot an evil grin to where Josh was standing, waiting for her to finish. But oh no, she was most definitely not done yet with the subtle digging; because the second half of the song began to loom out over the speakers, and she plunged bravely on—never mind the fact that she already had a somewhat permanent blush all over her face as she continued with the lyrics as thus;
“…There's a time for everyone if they only learn That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours
And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight? How it's laid to rest It's enough to make kings and vagabonds Believe the very best
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds Believe the very best…”
With each lyric, she was really putting a slight emphasis on certain parts of the song; because she knew that Josh was such a blockhead when it came to observing the signs; and half the crowd began to croon along before letting out their combined “Awwwww” and following it up with their best sympathies. “Well, that’s only the first, because I still have one more,” she continued as the crowd fell silent again—and this time the second song began to blare through the speakers.
“Wise men say only fools rush in But i can't help falling in love with you Shall i stay Would it be a sin If i can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life, too For I can't help falling in love with you…”
Two can play this game, you crazy man. Two can definitely play this game, don’t underestimate the power of a song! If this isn’t obvious enough then I don’t know what the hell is, she mused with a triumphant grin on her face as she began to rock across the stage, dancing along with the upbeat music. Hell, if she was wearing something different (and the setting was at the beach, not at a mall) then the song would definitely have a lot more meaning at that point; because one of the versions that Izumi loved was the one that was tied with a certain alien entity that was looking for a place to call home!
“Wise men say only fools rush in But I can't help falling in love with you Shall I stay Would it be a sin If I can't help falling in love with you
Like a river flows surely to the sea Darling so it goes Some things are meant to be Take my hand, take my whole life, too For I can't help falling in love with you For I can't help falling in love with you…”
Even if the lyrics looped over a second time, she definitely didn’t care; and by the end of it the crowd was cheering once again; shouting and clamoring for more! As she then took her bow and hopped off the stage, before making her way over to where Josh was waiting, she then said with another triumphant smirk on her face, “Hah, top that!” before waiting for him to sing what was his… last song, maybe, before they made a break for it!
(first song was Can you feel the Love tonight by Elton John; second song is Can;t help Falling in Love with You by Elvis!)

Josh could see the devious grin on Izumi's face as he came over. He seemed a bit more confident now, and amused at the back and forth teasing between the two. The tremendous flirting was evident at this point, and it was obvious the two were quite enjoying one upping one another with karaoke. It seemed that Izumi had challenged him though. One more song? He could knock her out of the park, he supposed.
Josh would nudge Izumi playfully before shooting her a devious wink and taking the stage. "Alright, one more I suppose" The blonde said to the crowd as he would punch the song in. This one was more upbeat, for sure, and he would grin over at Izumi, taking this little game of singing one upsmanship in stride. Was he blind to her intentions? Yep. But that didn't stop him from teasing the hell out of her with songs.
And with that, he began to sing, a confident grin crossing his lips as he would walk around the stage as he sang, pointing to the crowd, and just generally being a much more confident self as he strode around the stage, singing.....
"I want you to want me I need you to need me I'd love you to love me I'm begging you to beg me I want you to want me I need you to need me I'd love you to love me
I'll shine up the old brown shoes Put on a brand new shirt I'll get home early from work If you say that you love me
Didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you crying? Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you crying? Feeling all alone without a friend, you know you feel like dying Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you crying?
I want you to want me I need you to need me I'd love you to love me I'm begging you to beg me
I'll shine up the old brown shoes Put on a brand-new shirt I'll get home early from work If you say that you love me"
Zu was starting the trend of love songs there, why not one up her? He would grin cheekily as he pointed out to Zu, looking oh so smug, the Pikachu getting a kick out of this too as he sat on his shoulder.
"Didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you crying? Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you crying? Feeling all alone without a friend, you know you feel like dying Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you crying?
Feelin' all alone without a friend, you know you feel like dying Oh, didn't I, didn't I, didn't I see you crying?
I want you to want me I need you to need me I'd love you to love me I'm begging you to beg me I want you to want me I want you to want me I want you to want me I want you to want me"
As the crowd cheered, the blonde would bow before hopping off the stage and making his way over to Izumi and sticking his tongue out at her. "Challenge accepted and won" He would tease, giving her a noogie playfully.

Izumi realized that she was literally being one-upped by Josh in terms of songs—and by the time he’d taken to the stage and belted out his final song, the signs were literally becoming clearer and clearer—now that he’d literally voiced out his intent (by leering at her while winking oh-so-deviously) with the last song he’d just finished, complete with snickering Pikachu on shoulder, she knew that it was on. Hi, game on! Two can definitely play at this battle of the Edam and Swiss Cheese song fest… she mused to herself, crossing her arms and staring at him (with matching wink and leery smile as well) while her hair hid the fact that her ears were now literally a shade of blush so hot it was a crime to be seen in public in that particular shade of red.
“It’s not over yet, you cheese head. Wait for my song, and we’ll decide who’s won this little match,” she said with a game-looking smirk on her face, as she then made her way forward for the final song. The crowd was going wild at this point—what was it with these two individuals and their choice of song anyway, were they flirting or just simply trying to outdo each other? Who knew? To her, of course, it was a literal ‘announcement of intent’, no matter how one observed the signs. Some of the girls in the crowd were definitely swooning at that point, due to the extremely cheesy choice of song.
Time to pull out trump card number one… she thought, hopping back up on stage and scooping up the microphone that he’d placed back on the stand and heading over to the machine before scanning the list of available songs. Well, nobody’s done it yet, so might as well do that one… or should I save the other one for a more appropriate moment? She mused to herself as she punched in the numbers before taking her place in the middle of the stage.
“This song… is for a certain leering guy with a Pikachu on his shoulder,” she began, pointing out at the crowd. Who knew that there was going to be a spotlight that would suddenly flicker on and hover over where Josh stood, before she continued, “Yes, this one’s for you…” and smirked in his direction, as the first strains of the music blared out over the speakers;
“See you down there everyday Trying to find a different way To build some kind of ladder to the sky
Trying to find some way to see Secrets of eternity, and they don't come all at once And you don't know why
Well how do you think it feels to hear you screaming out my name While all the while I'm trying to open up your heart See you when you cry yourself to sleep It's tearing me apart…”
At that point in time, she then held on to the microphone that was still on its stand, before looking out across the crowd, her stare locking on with the crimson-eyed blondie who was standing there, Pika on his shoulder—and she plunged on with the rest of the lyrics;
“I know you wish you could see me That's the way it has to be Someday you'll understand, Don't you lose your faith in me
I know you wish you could hear me Sometimes it's so hard to do But every morning sunrise it says I'm madly in love with you Yes I'm madly in love with you Yes I'm madly in love with you Yes I'm madly in love with you…”
The music faded out to an instrumental melody at this point, and she began to hum along—unaware of the crowd who had now parted like the ocean, giving her enough walking room to navigate around. There was more or less a straight line—as majority of the people watching had followed the intensity of her gaze, and had pretty much focused in on Josh.
Now that she knew her way was clear, she took the microphone off the stand, and then made sure the cable was long enough—as she hopped off the stage and began walking towards where the blonde-haired individual stood, singing out the rest of the song as she slowly made her way to where he was watching her;
“I know that you're waiting for, A chance to come in from the war If only a moment, if only a day
A place where you feel safe and warm A sanctuary from the storm Until all of these questions fade away
But I cannot count on all the signs You've passed away as mere coincidence And I'm running out of ways to break through Like a lonely lover, waiting by the ocean I'll never give up on you…”
As she was singing the rest of the verse, the spotlight had trained to follow her as she made her way down the cleared aisle, before belting out the last of the song, coming to a stop in front of him;
“I know you wish you could see me That's the way it has to be Someday you'll understand, Don't you lose your faith in me
I know you wish you could hear me Sometimes it's so hard to do But every morning sunrise it says I'm madly in love with you Yes I'm madly in love with you Yes I'm madly in love with you Yes I'm madly in love with you…”
At the last few lines, she then casually tossed the microphone away from where she stood; before looping her arm around his and winking to the crowd, before walking away from the stage. Now that her ‘declaration of intent’ had been made loud and clear, she could feel her ears burning as red as the deepest blush she’d ever muster up.
“Challenge raised. I win,” she remarked quietly, speaking in a voice so soft only he could hear it as the crowd behind them bust into shrieks and applause.

The blonde would watch, with crossed arms and an amused look on his face as Izumi would attempt to one up him. It seemed the crowd was pretty damn into it, it had become a running gag for them to out do one another with songs. Love songs, want songs, whatever whatever, all that yadda yadda jazz and a bag of chips. When she would return, he would wrap an arm around her when she nabbed it, looking over at Izumi and sticking his tongue out at her playfully as they would walk away, despite the cheering. He smirked then, over at her.
"So, what now?" Josh would inquire toward the raven haired Trainer. It was true, they had done their little karaoke thing, but he couldn't remember what they had discussed doing after that. She had definitely suggested something for after they were done here when she had suggested just five songs, but... What?

Now that their little five-song run was complete (and they were making a break for it from the ‘scene of the crime’ as fast as they could manage), it was time for them to soothe their parched throats. “All that singing sure gave me a scratchy throat. What say you, we go to a nearby coffee shop and order something to drink?” she muttered as softly as she could manage—she could hear the crowd roaring from where they stood. Whether or not someone else had decided to take up the stage was anyone’s guess, but they were done with the singing part for today, at least.
“Who knew you had such a good voice,” she chuckled, sounding somewhat huskier than normal. True, maybe singing five songs was a bit too much? But at least all of my songs were definitely loaded and had intentions directly pointed at him. If he doesn’t pick up on that, do… do I really have to spell it out for him? She mused in the back of her mind as she then led the way towards one of the cozy, quieter coffee shops that were housed within the mall. Once she’d taken him across the crowd—cutting through them with ease—she then pushed the door open and made a beeline towards some of the more comfortable plush chairs that weren’t occupied.
“What’cha want? Coffee, cake, sandwich? I’ll pay for everything so don’t worry,” she added with a twinkling glint in her eye. “And no, this coffee shop doesn’t belong to me. I just want to spring a treat on you, y’know? For putting up with my insanity,” she continued with a wink in his direction.

Soothing their parched throats sure as hell sounded good to him. She noted a cafe or coffee shop being around here, so that would work, especially since they wanted to get away from this crowd. "Oh, hush" He would crack toward her tease about his voice, sounding about a husky as she did. "You weren't bad either. 5 songs so quickly was a bit much though" He would tease, nudging her playfully. Once they had gone across the crowd and into the shop, he would try and follow Izumi best he could when she made a beeline toward the chairs that weren't so occupied. They were comfortable, it seemed. "You could have just sat in my lap if you wanted a comfy seat" He joked cheekily as he sat down beside her.
He couldn't help but laugh at her joke, tease and wink. "Yeah, I didn't think your empire was THAT big so yet, Business Empress Izumi" He joked with a cheeky grin. "Since I know I can't dissuade you from paying, a coffee and a sandwich will do. Need to help my throat because I sound like John Lauranitus with a bad head cold" He would snark over at her. "And an extra sandwich for Lightning, if that's okay" He would add.

“Maybe I should’ve applied ‘spacing’ to our little concert run,” she began with a grin, noting that her companion’s voice sounded just as worn out as hers. “Hey, at least we had fun… right?” she added with a wink and a smirk in his direction. Once they’d finally arrived at the coffee shop, he just had to make a particular retort that caused her ears to burn red! “Josh! Think of the people around us!” she began in a stage whisper—which caused some of the patrons that had overheard them to titter with glee and wink deviously in their direction.
Now that he’d given his order—and asked her to get an extra sandwich for Lightning as well, she then smirked, before blowing him a kiss in his direction just to tease! “Sure, I’ll be back later with our orders, sugar,” she replied, adding in that little retort of a teasing nickname before she sashayed away to the counter to place their orders.
Several minutes later, Izumi then made her way back, balancing not just one, but two trays on each of her hands. “Heh, never underestimate the power of a wait staff member,” she began, grinning at the reaction that the coffee shop’s staff had given her once she’d directly told them that she’d be fine carrying both trays back to where she was seated—in fact, some of the more shell-shocked staff were still staring at the five foot-six girl as she then slowly but surely filled up the table with their orders.
First to go down were their coffees—his was his specific order, hers was a very tall cup with extra mint, extra chocolate syrup, extra cream… well a lot of extras, because those songs really tired her out! On the other tray were several sandwiches; one for Josh, one for the Pika, and one for her—there were also several slices of cake stacked on as well.
“Oops? I think I ordered too much,” she said with a genial, goofy grin as she scratched the back of her head rather sheepishly once the ‘mini feast’ was laid out for them. “What’re you waiting for? Let’s eat!” she remarked, handing him some paper napkins as well as a fork and a knife, if he so fancied to use them.

"You think?" He would answer, laughing a bit when Izumi brought up spacing. "We near damn killed ourselves because we got so bloody competitive. What happened with this just being a bit of friendly karaoke?" He would tease, booping her nose playfully. "I suppose we did" He had to admit. It was fun, after all. A competitive "Take that" sing off between them that seemed to get the crowd fired up. Joshua was a natural show off, this came natural to him, but he loved the thrill, the cheer of the crowd. Maybe becoming an actor was the right choice after all? That aside, he couldn't help but laugh, a tint of blush on his cheeks when Izumi teased him right back. What, were they a couple now? He'd only jokingly offered his lap, after all. Well, he supposed it could have been worse. She could have taken the seat!
Oh, but Izumi wasn't done there. Winks, pet names... Seriously, when was the last time she had referred to him as "Sugar"? She sounded like one of those flirtatious waitresses looking for an extra tip, and her coming back with trays for days didn't help that comparison on her end either. Unlike the other patrons, Joshua wasn't surprised whatsoever at Izumi's skill. He knew where she worked, and what she did for a living. This was child's play for her, no doubt. He couldn't help but chuckle at the reactions of the patrons and staff, and only shot a wink in Izumi's direction as he would tease her with the remark of "I was right when Angel came over before, you would make an excellent wife".
Lightning seemed excited about the sandwich, and as soon as it was plopped down, the hungry Pikachu dug in. Who knew helping in a singing act could make you so hungry? Josh laughed a bit at his Pikachu being a big bundle of enthusiasm before obliging to Izumi's wish and digging in himself. Singing had gave him quite the appetite too! And his throat needed that drink, real bad. "Sure thing... Sweetheart" He would remark, just digging at her and teasing her right back. Oh, it was on now. The flirting game was strong.

Izumi then felt her ears burn up with blush as he tossed his first retort once she’d made her way back with food and drinks; in order to be able to brush off the awkward silence that was falling between them, she cracked a grin and blew him a kiss; just to keep the teasing going! “Heh, you really think so, hm? Then… why don’t you do something about it, huh?” she continued, smirking in his direction as she then took the trays and placed them on an empty table and sat herself right across from him; the better to taunt him with her eyes that were now glinting with the light of mischief.
“Ooh, callin’ me sweetheart, eh? How ‘bout I call you sweet cheeks?” she retorted a few moments later, reaching for her drink and flashing him a teasing grin as she then popped the plastic cover off the cup and began to shake some extra chocolate powder, some vanilla powder, and added a pinch of nutmeg before smirking once again in his direction and taking a long sip from her drink. At the same time, her hands then reached for the fork and began to hack away at the turtle pie cake that she’d picked up for herself, loading it up with a generous piece before tantalizingly placing it in her mouth, making sure that he was looking at her while she did so.
“Mmm, the cake’s very delicious. What ‘bout your food, sweet cheeks?” she retorted once she’d swallowed the cake and made a dive for her own sandwich that she’d ordered. It was a tuna sandwich laden with egg and extra cheese—who knew they had some heavy fare available in the coffee shop they’d ducked down in?! Who knew that coffee shops were heavy on cakes and the caffeine nectar of the gods… but hefty sandwiches is definitely a bonus, she thought to herself with a smirk as she then took another bite in front of him, leering with a grin on her face as she did so.
