Izumi was already waiting over at the Dragomirs’, and already had the food all but served and ready when she heard Serena suddenly shouting form the other room. She was actually wondering just where the hell Josh was; but only because it was already New Year’s Eve and that he was nowhere to be seen! Knowing that he could be out in the world somewhere (or worse, dead in a ditch) she decided to leave things to his mother to handle; and chuckled rather loudly as she started screaming into the phone she’d grabbed earlier. Wondering if he’d hightail it home now that his mother had issued the ultimatum, she then proceeded to set up the table for three, while trying to hold in her temper. Where the hell is he, anyway?! She thought to herself with a rather cross look on her face as she slammed some plates down into position.
After she’d managed to set up the entire table and had gotten the food all laid out, she then proceeded to the living room, where she knew that Serena’s Arcanine was standing guard. Ever since she’d began to drop by more frequently, this Arcanine was getting more and more used to having her around—because for starters, he didn’t jump up on her and attempt to pin her down to the ground. She then gave him a hearty petting session, before another shout interrupted her thoughts—and the good session. “Alright, alight, I’m coming! Thanks for the heads-up!” she shouted back, before telling the Arcanine that she’d be right back and proceeded to the front of the entryway, placing her hands on her hips at the sight of him looking all messed up.
“Josh, you know I don’t like waiting, where the hell have you been?! It’s New Year’s Eve and your mum’s been waiting for you! She was beside herself…” she commented, before huffing in his direction and then smacking him lightly upside the head.

Josh would groan as Izumi, too, would come to give him a scolding. "I literally just told her, Izumi. I got held up" He said, shaking his head. "The wild Pokemon in the Wilds were... Well, a little bit more then irritated, unfortunately, and I ended up having to catch a few. But hey, check this out!" He said, letting a Pokemon out of it's ball. "Primplup!" Lamorak would let out as he was let out of his ball, greeting Izumi and Mama Dragomir. "See? Lamorak evolved from that training!" He exclaimed with a grin. "And of course.." He began as he headed right to the lab portion, coming out with four Pokeballs. "Come on out, guys!" He called as he would toss all four Pokeballs into the air, bringing out a Gulpin, a Plusle, a Drowzee and a Lickitung!
"Now, let's see..." He began as he seemed to be thinking of nicknames. "Goober" He said, pointing to the Gulpin. "Gulpin!" Goober exclaimed, seeming to find it perfect. "Pia" He said, noticing the tint of the Plusle's cheeks told it was female. "Plusle!" The Plusle would exclaim as it curiously looked around the house. "Merlor" He called toward Drowzee. "Droowwwwzeee" Merlor answered, bowing his head in respect. "Nyegium. Nye for short, like Bill Nye" He said, pointing toward the Lickitung. "Tuuuunnng!" Nyegium would exclaim in response, finding that nickname... Delicious!
"I caught these four troublemakers on my way here" He said as he would open the back door to let the four into the ranch side. "Now you four, go and meet the other Pokemon. I know some of my Pokemon are preparing some sort of show for New Years... I don't exactly know what they have planned though" He admitted. "So have fun and enjoy yourselves. Enjoy the start of your new lives, living peacefully here with the other Pokemon" He said before looking back at Izumi and Serena. "Sorry to keep you guys waiting" He said as the Primplup, as well as his Dewott and other Pokemon he had with him would head out the gate as well once Josh let them out of their Pokeballs. Only Lightning had decided to remain with him.

“Riiiiight, you already gave your mom that excuse, I don’t buy it,” she continued, appearing with her arms all folded up and crossed—because seriously, who would completely blank out and forget that it was New Year’s Eve today? She knew that her mother was still busy packing up all the way in Hoenn for the eventual move to Nue; while she’d gone on ahead with a handful of the staff from their family café in order to be able to get started on what they were building up in Shui, before eventually launching it to the public. Once she’d seen the Prinplup, a question popped into her mind, and she then asked him (after sending out all of them to go graze in the fields), “Is your Prinplup related to mine? I can’t help but think if she is or not. Sometimes Kouji doesn’t tell me too many details, but I’m thinking, Lamorak might be.”
She also had a question hanging on her lips about the bigger version of her Rakka but decided to keep it reined in for now; because come on, it was almost time for New Year’s, and they had to get the fireworks going before turning in for the midnight feast! “Well at least you made it back in one piece. Also, your collection is starting to outnumber mine,” she quipped with a pointed look, noticing that Lightning decided to stay behind—after all, she knew that this Pikachu was house bred and would avoid doing some nasty things while they weren’t looking. “Go get a bath and get changed, we can’t celebrate New Year’s with you looking all…scruffy,” she ended with a pointed grin. Oh how she longed to say the “S” word again in his direction, and she finally got her chance to do so.

"I gave her that excuse because it's fact" He replied flatly, rolling his eyes. And he DID say that he didn't blank out. He was ON HIS WAY THERE, before he got attacked by the wild Pokemon, remember? How else did he have four new Pokemon just like that, as well as having evolved his Piplup into a Primplup? There was too much fact and evidence right in front of her for Izumi to reasonably say he was lying, because really he was serious.
"I don't know if your Primplup is related to yours. What I DO know is that it evolved fighting said wild Pokemon that attacked me on my way home and made me late" He added, crossing his arms. He was big on being honest... Saying he was a liar pissed him off, and he would say that to your face if need be. The blonde would sigh, knowing she wouldn't hear it, and rolled his eyes when she mentioned taking a bath.
"Alright, alright" He said, making sure that his mother was out of earshot before facing Izumi for a retort. "But you're joining me" He teased, before laughing. "Only kidding. I'll see you before the countdown and fireworks" He said, heading to the washroom to grab a shower.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Jan 25, 2015 6:32:59 GMT -5
She noticed that he’d waited for his own mother to go out of earshot before delivering the prime retort that was hanging on his lips; and that had caused her own ears to burn red. “A-are you crazy? What if she walks in your bathroom and sees all the hanky-panky going down?!” she muttered back, hissing it so that only he heard what she had to say; but nonetheless it was a solid retort. Izumi knew that the “Master of Sass” was back in action, and was firing the guns full-force. “Now, go on. Chop chop,” she continued, gesturing with a hand she’d freed from its crossed-up position, still resting on her chest. “And make sure to clean up as you go!” she shouted as he disappeared to the upper levels; because hoo boy was she not only busy in the kitchen, she’d also gotten busy to giving the bathrooms a proper scrubbing.
“Crap, which reminds me to take a bath, too…” she muttered to herself once he was out of earshot as well. she’d already gone down and set the table; all they needed to do now was to set off the fireworks and welcome the New Year, so she’d decided to content herself with a rather hurried, if somewhat rushed, shower—the old year was ticking away, it was time to ring in the new! As she made the dive into the newly-scrubbed shower in her own room, she then quickly stripped down to the bare essentials and turned on the shower water to the warmest possible setting—because even if they were all the way out here in the Wilds, hell, the winter weather was still seeping across the Nue region. She then stopped to ponder on a few things… before quickly scrubbing herself as clean as she could manage and then diving out of the shower to her closet, which was just a few steps away.
After she’d gotten herself redressed and properly dried down, she then slipped down the stairs and then decided to go outside, the better to get the fireworks ignited. For this purpose she’d called out her indigo-colored Blaziken, who was seemingly meditating under a tree, near where the crate of sparklers and fountain flowers had been assembled. Zira had done a good job of keeping everyone else away; and therefore the place was sufficiently deserted. “Alright… here goes,” she muttered to herself before cupping her hands and shouting at the top of her voice, turning to the living quarters, “JOSH! Come on down! We got to light up the sky! Like now, we only got five minutes to go!You too, Mrs. Dragomir, please come on out and join us!” before turning back to the crate, which the Blaziken was now examining with much interest.

Josh would roll his eyes, not bothering to retort to what Izumi had to say there. No need, the message had been sent. Snarkinator was back in full force for the New Year, and there was nothing that Izumi could do to stop him. While Josh had tried his best to get a short shower, washing long hair like his was... Well, not easy, and he spent a little more time then meant. Once he had gotten out and gotten dressed, he could hear Izumi calling down to him.
"Yeah, yeah! I'm coming!" The blonde would call down to Izumi as he made his way down. He smelled clean, at least. Possibly cherry scented, if Izumi bothered to come and give him a hug. He would come out to find that her Blaziken was preparing for the festivities, as were several of Josh's Pokemon. Serena would also come down. "Oh, what's this?" She would ask Izumi.

She’d been waiting a while, until his dulcet tones announced his imminent arrival. She caught whiff of a certain scent in the air; and then turned around before making headway to him and giving him the elevator look and a once-over. “Alright, you’re reasonably sanitary,” she began with a stern look on her face that became a chuckle, before giving in and hugging him for a few moments. “Ooohh, you used the new shampoo? Smells great,” she continued; quickly letting go and turning around just as Serena had come out back. “Well, Serena, I… went out and got some fireworks. Well, to be honest I got an entire…box full of them. Wait, let me get the sparklers,” she trailed off, quickly walking over to the heaping box and sorting through it, before pulling out several paper bags that contained the sparklers and heading back to where they were.
“This is for us to wave around. Just light ‘em up and watch the pretty showers,” she explained, before leaving it near where they stood and heading back to the box again, before pulling out several cone-shaped containers and lining them all up in a certain pattern. “Alright… Zira! Get over here, I need your help!” she shouted once she was done; and the fountains were actually arranged in a certain way. As she then set the last one down, the indigo-colored Blaziken shuffled over, before she then pointed at it very casually. “When I give you the signal… try to light them all in one go, okay?” she muttered so that only her ‘mon could hear. After getting the affirmative nod, she then headed back and started assembling the aerial flower boxes in order.
“Hey J, come out and help me set up the boxes of fireworks, can you?” she shouted as she walked slightly further away from the viewing point, setting up more boxes full of fireworks that were meant to be lit from a distance. Once she’d managed to set things up, she then made a mad dash back towards where his mother was waiting. “Let’s just wait for him to help finish setting things up, then we can start lighting…” she ended with a sheepish grin on her face.

Josh would come down, only to be greeted by a big, albeit short, hug from Izumi. The blonde chuckled and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tight for the short fleeting moment before she released it, likely in order to avoid his mother. "Yeah yeah, I used it. Thought it'd be good to do something new, y'know, new year and all" He joked with a laugh, playfully pinching Izumi's rear when nobody was looking as a little tease, just to get at her. When Serena came back, she smiled when Izumi brought up fireworks. "Oh! Really now? Well, let's go set them up and prepare for a New Years party!" She exclaimed. Josh couldn't help but smile. It was the first time he had seen her truly cheerful in a long time...
Josh would nod when Izumi gave her orders and would get setting up. Several of his Pokemon decided to help too. Fawkes, Lightning and Vulcan in particular....

She was secretly thankful that Serena had come out sometime later, and not during the brief moments that she’d snagged Josh into a hug; otherwise she’d get the third degree and possibly never hear the end of it. As they continued to set up and eventually get all the fireworks positioned, Izumi then came rushing back, hurtling past the mother and son and literally flying back into the kitchen, before rummaging around the drawers, eventually finding the one lighter that they used for turning on the gas range. Izumi then came dashing back out with aforementioned lighter, along with several bottle stuck underneath her arms as well; she’d stopped by the fridge and grabbed drinks as well.
Coming to a stop in front of the table, she then placed the bottles there gently, and tried to catch her breath as best as she could. Once she’d done so, she then turned to face Serena—who, for some reason—was looking more at ease than normal. Maybe doing this was a good thing? She mused to herself as she then grabbed several sparklers and then held one out for the older woman to grab. “Here you go, please hold still,” she said with a sheepish grin as she then flicked the lighter on at the end and then quickly backed away; watching as the tip of the sparkler burst into light, showering the area with its brief illumination. “Maybe I should get a candle…” she added a few seconds later, chuckling as she then lit her own and then began weaving it around randomly in the air.
Sooner or later, there were booming sounds echoing all around—a sign that the New Year was near! “Alright… Zira! Do your thing!” she shouted after whistling to catch the indigo-colored Blaziken’s attention; and the bipedal avian looked up before letting out a cry, and then taking a deep breath. Izumi then pointed to the row where all the fountains were set up, and then with a single loud snap of her fingers, added, “Light this batch first!” and then proceeded to watch the indigo flames race across the tops of the fireworks, lighting the wicks just so. One after another the fountains exploded into brilliant colors and sparks, each shooting light higher and higher into the air. The effect, safe to say, was nothing short of awesome—all the fountains that had been laid out lit up; making the environment shine briefly with light.
“Alright, J, your turn! Set off the aerials!” she said with a nudge and a smirk in his direction, giving him a thumbs-up.

Izumi had lit up the first set of fireworks as the New Year's countdown drew to a close. Josh looked up into the sky and smirked faintly, knowing that all around the ranch, his Pokemon, Izumi's Pokemon, Serena's Pokemon... Even the wild Pokemon that had come to find a home here.... Hell, even his fathers Pokemon, were watching this display somewhere in awe and in wonder. Not only was this a celebration of the new year, in his eyes.... It was a celebration of a new year, a new ranch, a new life... A new life where his and Izumi's Pokemon, who had gotten to know each other well over the last year, could now live happily together as one big family.
Serena would smile as she took the sparkler. "Thank you, Izumi" She said politely, seeming quite content. Quite happy, for once... It was a good distraction from all the pain and suffering she'd been enduring in the last year. She needed this. She needed this temporary respite from all of it. She looked down at her watch and called out to Josh. "10 seconds until New Year, Josh! Light them at the end!" She called.
Josh would nod, and begin counting down loudly, as did Serena, hoping Izumi would join in. Even Lightning, beside Josh, tried to join in in his Pika language.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" They called as Josh would instruct Fawkes and Vulcan, as well as Lightning with Thunderbolt, to light the fireworks. They would shoot off into the sky, exploding in a dazzling array of colors and patterns. Josh and Lightning would make their way over, and Josh would casually wrap his arm around Izumi while Serena was distracted with the display. "Happy New Year, Zuzu" He said, planting a peck on her forehead playfully before looking up to watch the fireworks. Lightning's eyes lit up in joy at the sight of the fireworks...
Josh had, of course, laid instructions to his other two fire types to set off the rest of them within a certain time period, without his secondary input needed. In the distance, Josh could see something.... What was it? Seed Bomb! Gustave was shooting Seed Bombs into the air, and Ignis was shooting at them with Flamethrower, causing them to explode into a variety of patterns! The Bulbasaur/Inferape team-up was... Interesting, to say the least, but Josh smiled a bit. The Pokemon wanted to get in on the action, while others were content to watch.

The countdown was ticking down, the old year was fading away—and right as the countdown hit zero, the skies above them suddenly burst into bloom with all of the fireworks that they’d set up suddenly blazing with light as the various Fire-types (hell even Lightning) had set them all off, and the heavens lit up, albeit briefly, with different variations of flowers.
Some were red, some green—purple, orange, yellow, even blue and pink! Izumi had acquired aforementioned fireworks a few days before; hiding them from the sight of all of the curious ‘mons that made the place home was a problem—because she knew that most of her legions were really nosy, and absolutely curious.
Thankfully, everything went off without a hitch—and she was completely not expecting the sudden arm that wrapped around her—most likely he’d taken advantage of the distraction going off in the skies to sneak this—and then she felt a light peck planted on her forehead! This caused her ears to turn red for a few moments; before she caught wind of the cherry-scented man, and she couldn’t help but chuckle.
“You too, J. You too. Happy New Year,” she remarked as she wiggled as close as she could in his direction (without being spotted by Serena of course) and then blinked sometime later—what the heck were some of the other ‘mons up to, anyway? She then burst out into giggles and then saw literally, a show being put on by some of the other ‘mons under his care.
“Seriously?” she remarked, indicating the Fire and Grass-type that were apparently launching the new shenanigans into the air, not wishing to be left out of the fun. “That’s a very creative way of having fireworks, that much is for certain,” she ended with a chuckle in her voice.
Post by Josh Dragomir on Jan 30, 2015 10:53:45 GMT -5
The blonde couldn't help but laugh as he saw the shenanigans that his Pokemon were up to. While many were just content to watch, he noticed a ball of water, likely shot by Bastilo, rise into the air before being hit by a Thunderbolt from one of his electric types, being zapped before exploding into an array of watery patterns, sparkling in the moonlight as they fell to the ground. There were different kinds of fireworks going all over the place from different parts of the ranch, and Josh smiled faintly, chuckling as Izumi would get in as close as she could. Josh would pull her in a little closer, holding her tight as they watched the fireworks. Serena, of course, was too amazed by the displays to see the two, luckily.
"My Pokemon are a curious bunch" He said quietly to Izumi. "And they can't resist getting in on the fun, that's for certain"
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Jan 31, 2015 9:32:59 GMT -5
There was something that was up; because mere seconds after the unique display initiated by several of Josh’s Fire and Grass-type ‘mons, another show of sparkling water and electricity appeared after all of the fireworks that they’d gotten had been lit up and had exploded in the sky. She could only chuckle as she watched Bastilo and Lightning getting in on the fun as well; and could only grin and wave a hand in their direction. For some mysterious reason, Serena hadn’t spotted them yet; and she was thankful—because that meant she could still get close to him (without her noticing of course). She then whispered in his direction, “Don’t you think we should go in and eat now?” with this grin on her face, before slowly but surely detaching herself from him (even if she really didn’t want to, because his mother might look their way any time now).
Whistling once more, she then saw the Blaziken approaching, arms folded across her chest. “Alright, let’s clean up the used fireworks before retreating to all the food. I’ll return to check on you guys later, okay?” she said in the bipedal ‘mon’s direction, before going over to where the now-empty crate stood and began to pick up all of the spent fireworks, preparing to get rid of them. There was no way she was going to leave this scattered all around and have anyone accidentally eat from them—let alone get poisoned and possibly keel over and die. After spending several minutes picking up as many used ‘shells’ as she could, she then dumped the armload back into the crate and then pondered on how she was going to get rid of it properly…

Josh couldn't help but smile up at the fireworks that were natural borne, and the ones the Pokemon made. It was an interesting thing indeed to see his Pokemon partaking in the display. Some wanted to watch, yes, but the others... They wanted to celebrate. They wanted to help celebrate a new year, a new ranch... A ranch where their family and friends were once again with them. Josh only wished that his own full family was here with him... And he frowned for a moment. But... Given the circumstances, this was the best that he could get. And he felt thankful to have the best of something.
His thoughts were interrupted by Izumi inquiring about going in to eat. He would nod, then. "Of course. Let me help you clean up" He would respond before accompanying Izumi and grabbing as many fireworks as he could and lugging them inside. Hmm... How could they dispose of them properly?
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Feb 2, 2015 7:39:33 GMT -5
Izumi could only guess as to what Serena was up to—most likely she’d already gone inside to prepare and serve up the food once the fireworks show in the sky was over. What she wasn’t expecting, though, was that Josh would come over and help her clear out most of the mess that they’d instigated just a few moments earlier while welcoming the New Year! She then cracked a smirk and then indicated the crate. “Just dump whatever it is you find in there. I’ll deal with it. Somehow,” she remarked, once the skies had finally gone quiet and she’d turned to face him again, catching him with an armload of used shells. “We got to clean up before heading inside…” she continued sheepishly, before looking around and trying to make sure that his mother wasn’t around to see what they were up to.
Because, again. I don’t want to get the third degree from her. Or maybe she’s actually waiting for something to happen between us? Who knows? She mused to herself as she finally managed to lug the crate full of used shells and fireworks up the stairs and left it on the back porch. “J, come over here… I have to ask you something…” she continued, looking at him and hoping that he’d come over right away. Stop being crazy, stop being crazy, what the hell are you up to, girl?! Don’t tell me you’re going to drop a bomb on him?! Come on, don’t be a chicken! Just man up and confess! She screamed in the back of her mind; while on the outside she looked perfectly calm, cool and collected. Inside though, she was literally an emotional mess because of what she was planning to do once he’d veered in close enough (and subsequently not get caught by his mother, of all people)!

Josh was sure that his mother was around somewhere, she was always busybodying, even when she was supposed to relax and enjoy the night. She was a workhorse, caused by having to work on so much by herself all the time, and Josh felt bad about not being home a lot more often in order to help support her. Josh would nod over to Izumi and haul a few more fireworks into the crate indicated, trying to pick up as much as he possibly could.
As they lugged what they could to the porch, Izumi would suddenly call him over. "Hm?" Josh let out as he would put his things down and start to walk over. "What is it Izumi?" Josh would ask curiously, not sure just what she would want all of a sudden. Before she would answer though; Serena would suddenly pop in and look over at them. "Josh, can you help me with this?" She would ask, holding up the massive crate she was trying to lug by herself. "Damnit mom, don't lift things like that-gah" He muttered before looking over at Izumi. "We'll talk again later" He said as he would head over to help her.
