Realizing that he was running low on available options that he could use in order to increase the supplies of the Bubble Dome before its eventual launch to the public; Kouji then decided to take a tour of his new…hometown. Sure, it was a lot smaller than Humilau was—but it had one thing that the Beach City of the Unovan north didn’t: and that was a wider selection of Water-types available. He then suddenly realized how…closed the selections were in his old region, and was somewhat grateful for making the choice to move all the way out here. “At least we get more diversity of wildlife here…” he muttered, coming out of one of the local marts, having stocked up on some PokeBalls before heading out to one of the beach fronts in order to wade in the shallows and see what the hell he’d run into.
It also helps to give Voima and ‘Mori some exercise. I know they’ve been itching to get out and battle… so why not let them have it, then? He thought to himself as he then made the walk down to the beach strip, before crouching down to roll up his pants leg; when he suddenly realized that he was already wearing shorts and a pair of sandals for the trip! “Heh, talk about absent-minded…” he chuckled to himself as he then began to wade through the waves that were lapping up at his ankles. He had yet to find out where he could fish, and get his Good Rod upgraded to the rumored “Super Rod”; the one fishing rod that could catch anything without ever snapping the line into two. Now the question was, where could he use it without drawing too much attention to himself…?

Kouji was extremely surprised to see that the “feed funky mushroom to Poliwag, see what happens” had netted him not just one, not two, but three magnificent eggs to boot! Now all he needed to do was drop them off at the designated “point” for his second boss to pick up, and once he’d gotten his assistant to make the journey with the precious payload, it was back to business for him. He was still attempting to figure out just how the hell was he going to get to that rather… “unusual” breeding request that his benefactor had posted for him to get to, when something came wading in on the surf, interrupting his train of thought. He then blinked and saw that there was a half-open clam shell there, just sitting on the shallow waves, and cautiously made to approach it when suddenly, bam.
The Clamperl struck without warning! The innocent-looking little shell quickly blasted out a spurt of water headed his way, soaking his shirt upon impact. “Oh, you did not just… bleh, well, fine, have it your way then,” he began, hissing as he then rummaged around his pocket and pulled out an entire bunch of containment units. He was here on a special mission, and he was going to get that done and post up the breeding request for it next week! For now, though, he’d borrowed some Electric-types from his benefactor (not that she was using them anyway) and then sent out the first part of the entire process. First off to hit the ground was an odd, artistic-looking little thing that had a brush for its tail. He’d borrowed this one from a fellow Breeder, just to be able to get to the extremely weird request that his benefactor had posed.
The next one to hit the ground was something he’d never seen in actuality before; it looked like a canine, alright, but instead of having a normal head, its head was shaped like a bolt of lightning. “El? Electrike?” he heard the curious thing inquire, turning around to face him. Instead of seeing his owner’s face, he saw someone else’s, but this guy was someone he was familiar with, at the very least. “Oh, hi there… sorry if I borrowed you for a bit from your mistress; I just needed you to do a few things for me… like taking out that thing in front of…GYAAAH!” he shouted, as the Clamperl then blasted them both with another succession of Water Gun attacks. “Alright… uhhh… Raikiri, correct?” he began, and the Electrike nodded. “Let’s get started with a… Howl first,” he continued, retrieving a sheet of paper that he’d scribbled and taken along. This piece of paper had the move sets of the two that he’d temporarily borrowed for this interesting venture.
The canine Electric-type nodded, before quickly standing his ground and Howling an uplifting tune, the better to raise its Attack power. At the same time, the Smeargle had seen the Howl status change being used, and quick as an artist, it flew into a flurry, copying the move that it had seen the Electrike use in order to boost its Attack stat. Once he’d seen that it was done, he then quickly whistled, before retrieving the Smeargle’s containment unit and recalling aforementioned ‘mon, before it started copying anything else that it wasn’t supposed to see! Now that the Electrike was raring to go, it then stared down at the Clamperl—who then suddenly veered in and used Clamp! “Oh, you did not… struggle out of that with… Spark!” he continued, checking the cheat sheet he had; just as the Clamperl had suddenly zoomed out with surprising quickness and Clamped down on the unsuspecting Electrike!
The Electrike let out a shocked howl of pain as the Clamperl quickly closed down on it, trying to trap it inside; before hearing the next orders—and suddenly, the Clamperl was blasted apart by a sudden electrified shock that emanated from the Electrike’s whole body, blasting it apart and hearing it splash into the water with a loud smacking sound. “Alright, go and use Spark on it again!” he said from the shoreline, and the Electrike bounded after the Clamperl, who suddenly used Shell Smash—which was actually a mistake in itself. As the Clamperl felt its various attacking and lone Speed state rise, she knew that she was placing herself in danger, and was about to fire off another Water Gun attack when the Electrike slammed its entire electrified body against the exposed Clamperl’s body. Kouji heard another squeal of pain, before consulting the cheat sheet once more. “Alright, bite it with… uhh, Thunder Fang! And then Spark on it once more!”
The Clamperl, who was now forced on the defensive, quickly blasted out spurts of Water Gun; in an attempt to dissuade the Electrike from approaching it! The Electrike, at first, received the first smacking of water and took it in stride—although it winced in pain, before continuing to charge forward, hearing Kouji shouting form the shore, “Dodge the Water Gun! Dodge as best as you can, then continue with Thunder Fang and end it with Spark like what we agreed on earlier!” and the Electrike, spurred on by his words, began to weave in and out of the torrent of water that the Clamperl was blasting—it had decided to take it on with just Water Gun, but the green-and-yellow blur was picking up speed and now bared its electrified fangs! The Clamperl let out a squeal of pain, attempting to use Shell Smash again—but it was another fatal mistake.
The Thunder Fang had connected on the shocked Clamperl, and the bivalve-like ‘mon attempted to shake it off with another Clamp attack, but was thrown off-balance by the Spark that the Electrike had chained into at such close range. Kouji knew that the Howl had boosted the Attack power of the moves that the Electrike was currently using, and he heard another squeal of pain from the Water-type. “End it, Rai! End it, Spark once again!” he shouted, and then Electrike slammed its electrified body once more into the Clamperl, who was now howling with pain. As the Clamperl was tossed back, he then approached the smoking bivalve, before plucking out one of the empty PokeBalls that he’d purchased and lobbing it at the Clamperl. The Electrike then trotted back, holding his own head high, very pleased at what he’d done.
“Nicely done,” he said with a chuckle as he then fed the Electrike a PokeTreat, watching as the Water-type was sucked into the PokeBall before falling on the sand…

The two then watched and waited anxiously, looking at the quivering containment unit, shaking as the trapped Clamperl was trying to struggle against the PokeBall holding it in. After it went off with a loud dinging noise, he then gave the Electrike thumbs up, and bent to pick it up before it was transported to the Ranch’s storage… when another noise caught his attention. “Oy, what is it this time…?” he began with an exasperated tone in his voice, before turning around and then seeing a very familiar creature floating in the surf. “Wait a second, how…” he began, before the wild Horsea then quickly spat out a jet of water and this time completely drenched Kouji from head to toe! The Electrike then growled in displeasure, but Kouji then stood up before calling the canine back.
“Back, Rai. Back…” he continued, before the Horsea maneuvered to a better spot, the better to douse the strange human with water for disturbing him. As the Electrike scampered back to the Breeder, he then quickly recalled the canine back in a flash of red light, before plucking out another containment unit and sending out its occupant. Right as the Heliolisk hit the ground (and began flexing its neck “collar” to full height) Kouji then felt something vibrating in his pocket. Wondering who could be calling at this time, he then plucked out the phone and then looked at it; he had a message from what he assumed to be the Nue Breeder’s Association. After scrolling through it and reading the aforementioned message, he then turned towards the Horsea… and could only resist the urge to smack his forehead, how in the seven hells did they know where he was and what he was doing?
“Alright… I’ve got to get this one. Uhhhm. You’re the nameless Heliolisk, right?” he began, to which the Helio took a bit of offense, but nodded eventually. “S-sorry to bring that up, but yeah… someone here will watch you do one of your moves, hope you don’t mind,” he continued, before sending out the Smeargle once more in a flash of red light. He knew that this particular Smeargle had already picked up on Howl earlier from the Electrike, now it was here to pick up on another move that it had. He then consulted the cheat sheet once more, before clearing his throat a little. “Okay… Helio, can you show me, and this little one here,” he trailed off, indicating the Smeargle, “…what your Electric Impulse looks like? And you can take on the Horsea once you’re done showing him, okay?” he added for reassurance, and the Heliolisk then let its frill flare up, before quickly releasing an eerie, hair-raising noise that it was emanating. Since it appeared to affect most of the field, the Horsea was jarred by the sudden noise—and while the Horsea was trying to recover from the little shock, the Smeargle flew into a flurry and quickly waved around its paintbrush-like tail, using Sketch in order to overwrite it and formally adopt the Eerie Impulse into its own move set.
Once the Smeargle was done copying the move, he then approached Kouji, before gently poking his leg with his other hand, and then the Breeder looked down and nodded, quickly recalling the amicable Smeargle in a flash of red light. Now that the hardest part of acquiring the moves was over, the Heliolisk was now free to attack, and he consulted the cheat sheet again. “Okay, now that’s over… use your Charge to store up power, and then continue on with a… Parabolic Charge!” he continued, pointing forward—and right then and there the Horsea sprang into motion, suddenly letting out a beam of condensed water bubbles aimed right at the Heliolisk, who was now flashing his frill at the Horsea and feeling the wellspring of electric energy charge up his body. The Bubblebeam had scored a direct hit on the Heliolisk, since he was at a stationary position… and then, the flare of electricity cut loose through the air.
The Parabolic Charge then reached far and wide, smacking the Horsea in a brilliant flash of energy—and as the Horsea let out a pained squeal of horror at the Electric-type attack racking its body, the Heliolisk felt that the damage he’d suffered earlier was mitigated, somehow. “Whoa…” Kouji trailed off at the sudden flash-bang like attack. “Alright, now that you have the Horsea stunned, go catch it off guard with your… wait let me check… Quick Attack, yeah, that’s it! Go get ‘im!” he cheered on, and the Heliolisk could only titter in its own Pokémon language before following his own orders. The reptilian sunbather then charged forward, and the Horsea was still trying to recover from the earlier Parabolic Charge when the yellowish blur came in close and struck it rapidly, before skidding backwards, awaiting the next orders. In retaliation, the Horsea then used Agility to raise its Speed, and was feeling quite light on its feet, before it had decided to tighten its focus with Focus Energy! As the Horsea was getting pumped up, Kouji then saw that it was all going to end ugly if he didn’t end it soon.
“Alright, Helio, use that Charge again! Then go with that Parabolic Charge from earlier! Don’t make him get to you!” he shouted, and the Heliolisk let out a cry, before flashing its frill once again at the more mobile Horsea, who was now unloading another instance of Bubblebeam. It continued to spray around the beam of condensed bubbles, an attempt to wear the Heliolisk down while it was immobile and charging up. Once the wellspring of power had surged through the Heliolisk, it then let loose another brilliant flash of Electric energy, catching the Horsea dead-on in its path. Kouji had noticed that the Parabolic Charge worked in similar wayto his Voima’s Discharge, but was of noticeably lesser power than Discharge. Wondering if there was a way around it, he then pointed forward, before continuing, “Quick Attack once again! Try not to get caught when it attacks! If it does, well, go ahead and unload a Parabolic Charge again!”
The Heliolisk nodded; before charging forward with such speed—even if the Horsea was faster—and ended up hitting only air. Now that the Horsea was significantly weakened, it then resorted to using Brine, catching the slightly slower Heliolisk full in the face—only to have it retaliate with another instance of Parabolic Charge. The two attacks collided; and even if the Brine was more powerful the lower the user’s Health was, the Parabolic Charge had overcome it, cancelling it out and catching the squealing Horsea in the ricochet, area-wide effect it had. Even if the Heliolisk was forced back due to the recoil, he felt…stronger, somehow after the effects of Parabolic Charge had subsided. As the light cleared out, the Horsea was still attempting to struggle and fired off another Bubblebeam—but the Heliolisk stood his ground, as Kouji shouted, “Go! Parabolic Charge again!” and the bright burst of electric energy ripped through the shallows.
After the last Parabolic Charge had cleared out, there was a now-exhausted Horsea on the verge of collapse swimming feebly through the water, and with another swift motion, he’d plucked another containment unit and tossed it at the struggling Water-type, watching as it got swallowed in a flash of red light…

After the containment unit went off with a loud ding, he then sighed in relief—for the harebrained scheme that he’d hatched was a complete and total success! Kouji then sighed in relief as he then took out his mobile phone before replying to the message that had been sent to him earlier. Once he’d sent off his response, he then turned his attention back to the surf—what was causing the water to lap unnaturally loudly? The Heliolisk then looked at him with a rather curious glint in its eye—and it was right then and there that Kouji had spotted it; there was a literal… flock of pink, curious-looking creatures headed his way! He had to resist the urge to smack a hand to his forehead; why did it happen that whenever he was searching for just one, an entire… flock of them just seemed to show up?!
He then realized that maybe, just maybe, the flock was something he could turn to his advantage—and seeing as the Heliolisk was looking rather sleepy (or tired, he really couldn’t tell) he then decided to recall it back, at least for the time being. “Come on, big fellow. You need rest. I’ve got someone who can handle this just fine,” he said, watching as the Heliolisk was sucked up in a flash of red light. Once the flock of pink things had floated closer, he then recognized them on sight—they were native to his home region, Unova! “Oy, never thought I’d encounter you lot here,” he continued, trying to decide who to use for this venture… before eventually plucking out the one he’d been initially planning on using the entire time!
As the Flaaffy emerged from the burst of red light, the Alomomola continued to swarm closer—definitely meaning no harm. Or were they just acting innocent? In any case, once the bipedal sheep had hit the sandy surf, he then pointed out to the approaching flock. “Errr. Yeah, Voima. Look at that. We need just two of them, and there’s… one, two, three… six of them. Can you drive four of them away for me?” he asked, to which the Flaaffy nodded. “Alright, let’s get this show on the road, unload your Confuse Ray! And I mean, literally unload! Use it as much as you can, throw them into disarray!” while pointing out at the incoming flock who were muttering in their own Pokémon language amongst themselves.
The lead Alomomola was about to remark to approach them in peace—when several instances of Confuse Ray soared above the surface of the water before literally exploding like a firework; throwing the six into effective chaos! Now that the bright lights had served to disorient and caused them to bump and crash into each other, Kouji continued, “Alright, Voi. Charge up your power. And just keep charging… don’t do anything unless they provoke you,” he continued, and the Flaaffy held out his arms before letting the electric energy surround his body continuously; powering up his own wellspring of electrical supply. The six Alomomola were now caught in a confused flurry, trying to pick friend from foe—when all hell broke loose! The Alomomos then began turning on each other—firing attacks blindly, and the ruckus only served to agitate them more; since they were caught by surprise.
Meanwhile, on the shore, Kouji could only blink and stare at the madness that was erupting in the shallows—and looked over at the Flaaffy, who was now supercharged as much as he could manage; he could feel the static electricity crackling in the air. Most of the Alomomola were arguing amongst themselves, literally fighting—but two of them had snapped out of the stupor, and now led the charge! One of the two then used Wide Guard; a bid to protect them for that turn, while her companion then resorted to using Aqua Jet; a bid to throw the Flaaffy off-guard! Kouji had no idea that the Wide Guard literally protected the six from Discharge—and he’d given the order, “Now! Zap them all out of the water and use Discharge!” and then turned away as the supercharged flash of electricity cut through the surf, lighting up like fireworks in the sky on New Year’s Eve.
As the flare of electricity subsided, Kouji was expecting to see six stunned, possibly overcooked fish floating on the surface of the water—however, the four were still squabbling amongst themselves; and the Discharge had been nullified! At the same time, the Alomomola that had lunged forward with Aqua Jet smacked the Flaaffy, knocking it off-balance and causing him to cry out in shock! “Ah, shoot, try that again, now! Discharge! Before they get any more ideas!” he continued, and the Flaaffy nodded, before releasing another burst of energy that caused him to shield his eyes due to the after-glare. The four Alomomola that were arguing never knew what hit them; while the other two vainly attempted to block by dodging out of the way.
After the flash had ended, he then rubbed his eyes and then examined the scene once again—there were six floating, possibly steamed and cooked—Alomomola floundering in the surf. “Sorry…” he continued, before plucking two PokeBalls and chucking it at two of the six.

Two pairs of eyes—one human, one Pokemon—watched as the two containment units began to shake, quiver; and after they had both gone off with loud dinging noises, they knew that they had succeeded in claiming two of them! “At last! I can finally get to that Wailmer thing I’ve been putting off for so long… and that weird Shinx request too,” he muttered as he took out a towel and wiped off all the sweat he didn’t realize had suddenly appeared on his forehead due to all the tension. The Flaaffy then scampered back to him, ready for a hug; the Breeder responded in kind and rubbed himself up against the Wool ‘mon’s fur.
“Well, all I can say is that this trip was kind of a success. We still have to keep looking for some more Water-types though… let me just stock up on more PokeBalls so we can keep catching…” he continued with this triumphant look on his face, as he then recalled the Flaaffy back into his containment unit before retreating back to the city proper; he was running very low on containment units at this point in time! Note to self, get to that weird-ass Shinx breeding and then return the crazy Smeargle back to the original owner… because I know that this was supposed to be a Christmas present that my benefactor was supposed to give, but it’s a little late… he mused to himself as he climbed up the sand and finally made it back to the steps that led back to Bayonada.
