He knew he was cutting it absolutely close, but Kouji decided to head back to the Ruins for one last run; hoping that he’d be able to run into something of value! After counter-checking with his benefactor about the newest acquisition he’d managed to get his hands on—and was reminded of the holiday season, he then decided to schedule to have all the gifts shipped out to her in short order—after he got back from this current run. Now that he was dressed against cold weather, he then grabbed a flash light and shook it, before finally managing to turn it on and then get a good look around the area where he’d ended up now.
He’d gone on ahead to the Ruins earlier this morning, just to make sure he didn’t get stuck due to the bad weather that was reported to start picking up around today. He knew he had to hurry—otherwise he’d have to spend the holidays trapped in this old, musty place without any food or supplies! “Yikes. I got to hurry…” he continued, muttering a bit darkly as he then began searching through the rooms, holding the flash light in his mouth as he began to use his two free hands in order to be able to move the relics and other weird things around, being very careful not to drop or break them…!

He’d decided not to bring anyone out—well, maybe on second thought he’d allow a companion this time around. After picking a certain containment unit, he then let the PokeBall soar up, before revealing its occupant in a flash of red light—and instead of the trusty figure of his Gallade, a green, lizard-like bipedal creature hit the ground, before looking around and then finally spotting Kouji. It was his Grovyle, Yamori—the one with the bent tail he’d rescued a long time ago in the Safari Zone. “Heya, Mori,” he began, waving in the Grovyle’s direction, and the green reptilian looked around curiously before scuttling close to him. “Yeah, it’s your first time out here, isn’t it?” he asked, to which the Grovyle nodded, before looking around quite curiously again.
“I need the company… I’ll have Rymi teach you how to scout ahead if ever, okay? I know you can make use of your Agility—or whatever that was—to zip around much faster than I can. For now, just…stay close to me, hm?” he began, wiggling the flash light beam around, and the Grovyle nodded, before apparently taking the lead in order for him to be able to act as a “scout”. The two continued to look through the place, Kouji almost finding something of value—but it all turned out to be junk—while the Grovyle was going through some sort of “epiphany” stage. It didn’t take too long until Kouji’s foot had hit something, and he then crouched down to pick it up; upon examination it revealed that it was a Thunder Stone, from the distinct thunderbolt pattern in the greenish rock.
“Oops? Who’d leave something like this here?” he asked, rather curiously as he then showed the Grovyle what it was; to which the reptilian bipedal companion just shook his head. “I know, it’s not something that sparks your interest, eh? Let’s look further in.”
And with that, he then let the Thunder Stone roll from his palm, clattering across the rocky ground, as the two unlikely companions then traveled further in.

The Grovyle continued to walk slightly ahead of Kouji, only pausing to look backwards at where he was still poking around some of the rooms that were full of nothing but clutter and junk. The bipedal reptilian could only shake his head, before chuckling to himself as he waited for his master to catch up with him. Kouji, on the other hand, had just finished turning a room inside-out for anything of interest—no such luck at the present time. He could only sigh, before clambering over the fallen rubble and re-emerging back in the hall, where the Grovyle was waiting, standing guard as well. “Sorry I took so long, let’s keep going,” he continued, and the odd couple continued deeper into the ruins, the human poking around every single hole he could find, the Grovyle only watching and chuckling to himself.
Several minutes had passed, and the two hadn’t found anything that would exactly live up to Kouji’s standards of “ooh, shiny” or something along those lines. The Grovyle was no empathy, but he could tell from his master’s facial expressions that he wasn’t too pleased with the…clutter that he was stumbling on so far, and then made to move atop a certain boulder that had fallen over on its side and continued to observe his master’s actions like a hawk. The human, on the other hand, had gone down on all fours and was now looking around the musty ground, hoping to find something interesting that he might have overlooked the first time. It didn’t take too long for his hand to accidentally smack against something—and instinct made him grab it, pulling it closer—only to reveal that it was another Fossil; and strangely, it already looked like something he already had.
“Strange things, Fossils,” he began, and the Grovyle looked down upon hearing his master’s voice. “It may just be a rock, but then again, that rock…used to be alive. But…sadly, not today, my little feather. Not today…” he continued, before patting the blue rock gently and letting it rest once more—before resuming his search once more.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found Relic Vase! A vase made in a civilization about 3,000 years ago. A maniac will buy it for a high price.

Who knew that passing the second copy of the weird feather stuck in blue rock was going to be a bad idea? Kouji didn’t realize this until he continued onwards—where this rather ominous feeling began surrounding him, wrapping him in what felt like desperation. The Grovyle then stared back at him, as if stopping himself from saying “I told you so” in its own language, while the human continued to search rather frantically around the place, climbing up and peering around fallen pieces of rubble and brushing away overhanging vines that fell from the ceiling, blocking their progress. “Can you help me look?” he asked his companion a few moments later, and after receiving a nod from the Grovyle, it then sped away using Agility, in order to search further in.
Several minutes of searching later, it was the Grovyle that had come upon a weird-looking, grayish vase that was much heavier than it looked. Struggling as it tried to lift the thing up, it then tried to use Agility to zoom back to where Koujiw as searching rather noisily; before finally managing to get to where his master was now searching on all-fours, poking around the lower cracks. The human then heard an ominous shattering sound as the Grovyle then dropped the thing in front of him; which caused him to look up and see several shards of gray that looked…familiar to him. “Oh boy. That’s what you found?” he asked the Grovyle, to which it nodded rather sheepishly. “Nice try, Mori… but… that’s not what we need,” he continued in an apologetic voice; and then the Grovyle shrugged at what it had done.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, HELIX FOSSIL! BLESSED BE THE WAYS OF HELIX, BLESSED BE the fact that you can revive this into an Omanyte

This time around, it didn’t take too long for Kouji to find something—and when he finally saw what it was, he breathed out a sigh of relief so loud, and his Grovyle actually heard it from several rooms down the corridor! Wondering what and why had his master sounded that way, the green bipedal reptilian Pokémon than made his way back to where he’d left his master; who was now examining the weird chunk of rock with much interest. “Look at this thing,” he began, seeing his Grovyle appear some ten minutes later, before shining the flash light at the weird chunk and studying the spiral pattern that was seemingly embedded into it. “This is nothing like I’ve ever seen… wait, give me a moment…”
He then reached for one of his pockets and quickly pulled out his mobile phone, before quickly snapping a few pictures of the weird chunk of rock for reference. “What’s funny is that I’ve found its counterpart; and I have the third, living member of this particular… ‘triad’ of Fossil-like things from one of the other regions where they were first discovered…” he began muttering, getting so self-absorbed in his find and documenting it, the Grovyle only caught his attention by clicking its tongue rather loudly, before pointing at one of the holes in the ceiling to indicate the time of day.
“Oh, shit! It’s that late already?!” he began, quickly snatching up the rock and tucking it under his left arm. “Come on, Mori. Let’s get the hell out of here before we get stuck here when night falls!” he exclaimed, and the Grovyle quickly powered its way forward, using Agility to boost his speed, hightailing it out of the place—with his master hot on his heels.
