A few days after she’d managed to catch one of the remaining “starters” that she didn’t have on-hand yet, Izumi… was back for more. And this time it was for “serious business”. Since she couldn’t make up her mind on what she wanted to look for—she decided to just go back to the same area once more; since she knew that there was a “triad” sort of thing involved for the so-called “region starters”. Seeing that I’ve got almost all of them except for Johto and Unova, this is going to be the last, the longest, and the hardest search I’ll ever get to, she mused to herself as she then stepped into the Nue Safari Zone’s “front desk”, handed over the tag that went with the ball, and went through the body search. This time it didn’t take so long to actually get “through” the rather rough-searching guard; but once the gate was cranked open for her, she knew she was home free.
She’d come pretty lightly-prepared, only having three Pokemon with her. But they were all Fire-types, which she was going to need as much as possible since she was headed right for the Grasslands area—and that place had nothing but Grass-types infesting it; so why not have everyone come out for some good practice? Besides, I don’t want to fall behind. I know Josh is stepping up his game. I gotta get everyone else evolved and ready to go, because who knows what the hell is going to happen out here… she continued to muse as she then decided to bring out the three members of her current “party”. The first beam of light spat out a very rambunctious Charmander, who she affectionately called “Ravvie”, but was nicknamed, in all reality, Ravana. The second beam of red light revealed an indigo-colored bipedal… well, one couldn’t actually call Zira a chicken, but by all technicalities she was one. She then stretched out her indigo-colored limbs and let out a growl, as if psyching herself up for whatever was coming. The third and last beam of light finally revealed a puppy; an overly-affectionate (even more so than Ravana) Growlithe—whom she hadn’t named yet. Well, I did decide Sazanami’s name on a trip here as well… who knows… she continued; while all three looked up at her out of curiosity.
“We’re here. Today we’re all getting a good exercise. Especially you, Zira. I know you want to meet your father on equal terms. I’m here to make you realize that. Let’s do it!” she said, and the three ‘mons gave their respective cries of reply; before following Izumi out into the vast expanse that was known as Area One.

It didn’t take too long for the motley band of Fire-types to actually pick up on something—because as one, the three then began to look all skittish; in fact the indigo-colored Combusken was downright acting all fidgety and was nervous. “What’s the matter?” she began, asking the three—but even the Growlithe’s fur was now standing on all ends at this point. The Charmander continued to look around, extremely curious—but by then, the three hadn’t realized that there was a Scyther; literally swooping down from above in order to attack! All individuals present were alerted by the not-so-subtle way the Scyther was rubbing its “wings” together; before attempting to crash into the weird-colored Combusken with Wing Attack! The Combusken then let out an indignant roar after feeling the impact of being suddenly smacked into the ground—and then retaliated with a rather violent unleashing of Sand Attack, kicking up the dust right in the Scyther’s line of vision!
After taking this cue, she then chuckled—because she knew that Zira was always out for blood—and decided to direct the other two; mainly because she didn’t want a very pissed-off Combusken berating her companions later. “Rav, throw up a Smokescreen for us, will you?” she began, looking at the Charmander, who quickly nodded and then did the same thing that the Combusken did—only this time, instead of sending up a cloud of sand, it had sent up a cloud of smoke; shielding their side of the field from the Scyther—who was now trying to veer in close in order to attack them. “Now, we wait… and… what am I going to call you…” she continued in the Growlithe’s direction, pondering on what to call her—when she realized that there was a shape moving through the cloud of dust and smoke they’d thrown up to block the Scyther’s view! “Alright. I’ll pick it out later, but in the meantime can you prepare to attack with your Agility? We’re going to be moving around a lot. All you three, work together, as a unit, okay?!” she continued, and the Growlithe then quickly picked up the pace, cranking up the speed—when the Scyther suddenly broke through!
Zira quickly built up her own stats by using Bulk Up, feeling the surge of power run through her own bipedal body—before quickly letting loose with a close-range Flamethrower; letting the indigo-colored flames fly! The Growlithe stopped to stare at the weird occurrence—but by then she was already feeling much lighter on her feet. “Rav, do me a favor and dance; then unload a Flamethrower! Shinku, take a bite out of it, use your Crunch attack when he veers in close!” she continued—and she’d done it again; hoping that her female Growlithe didn’t mind having a masculine name—but it did fit the blaze of red that her Growlithe’s fur possessed. The Growlithe, finally pleased at having a name at long last, eagerly zipped forward—aided by the Agility from earlier—and then bared a row of sharp fangs just as the Scyther came veering in for another fury of Wing Attacks—aiming at just the Combusken, because it was really ticked off about something!
The Scyther, not wanting to get caught in a row of sharp teeth, quickly boosted its speed via its own Agility—and then effortlessly dodged the Growlithe’s attack. What it wasn’t able to dodge, though, was the incoming blast of fire from the charmander—who’d just finished upping the ante with Dragon Dance—and the flames bathed the Bug-type in full blast. Not wanting to be outdone, though, the Combusken boosted its stats again with Bulk Up—before quickly countering the next Wing Attack the Scyther was tossing her way with an electrified fist—it had finally gone and used Thunder Punch! Not knowing if it was going to be effective, the Scyther suddenly found itself on the receiving end of a powerful, electrified fist and was sent reeling—only to be tossed through the air.
“Alright, all of you! Roast that thing!” she said, pointing skywards; and they didn’t need any other cue—the Charmander quickly let loose with another Flamethrower, swinging her head in an arc in order to spread the flames around—while the Growlithe stood her ground and then unleashed its own peppery blast of flames; joining up with the Charmander’s fires and creating a large fireball that was now soaring through the air, aimed at the Scyther—who was now vainly trying to correct his flight course with another Agility.
It proved to be a big mistake though; because a sudden explosion of indigo-colored flames appeared from the opposite side; batting the Scyther back into the rather large incoming fireball—which then exploded upon impact with the Bug-type; sending Izumi ducking, covering her head with her hands and hearing a piteous shriek of pain as the Scyther was batted far away; most likely due to the explosion of the large fireball as it had collided with his body. She then stood up once more and found herself staring at three individuals who looked rather pleased with themselves, smirking and apparently sniggering to each other in their own weird language. “Alright, guys, I know that Zira’s being sadistic, but yeah… try to rail it in a bit? I don’t want to leave a body trail leading to where we are,” she continued with a grin, before whistling and taking the lead, going deeper into the Zone, the three Pokémon following her with much earnest…

As the ragtag band of three Pokémon, one human continued their trek through the rather dense vegetation that comprised the Safari Zone’s Area One, two of the three heard a skittering noise. To Izumi it sounded like flesh-eating scarab beetles amassing in one big, black, ugly mess and just waiting to consume everything in its path—but she then noticed that the Combusken and the Charmander were growling again; and that the flames on Ravana’s tail were burning much brighter than normal. The Growlithe could only stare at them in confusion—before realizing that there was something moving around not too far ahead. “Shin, stay with me… let them lure it out,” she began, looking down at the Growlithe, who then decided to stand in front of her to act as guard—while the other two Fire-types dashed on ahead in order to flush out the thing they’d seen.
A few moments of scuffling later, the two had returned, driving back what looked like a…floating old shrimp that was just meandering around quite carelessly. Little did she realize that this Anorith was going to be giving her a run for her money; quite literally. She had some notion that these so-called “Fossils” were partially of the Rock-typing, so “killing them with fire” wasn’t going to be too easy—nor slashing them to death would be. Izumi had no idea if the other moves her Pokemon knew would be effective on this little one, so she braced herself for what appeared to be a long, hard slog. She then whistled, and the two others that had dashed ahead came rushing back to her side, looking quite pleased with themselves. She could only guess what they were thinking, but…
“Alright, you three? I know that this is going to look deceptively easy, but what I want you all to do is to boost yourselves up to the best you can manage; and wait for my signal. Okay?” she began, and the three let out their respective cries; before the Charmander began performing the seemingly mystical dancing motions—Dragon Dance—as much as she could manage at her current level. The Combusken, on the other hand, began to concentrate, and by the time she was done with Bulk Up, her body was seemingly emitting this weird indigo aura. The Growlithe barked rather aggressively at the Anorith, who was completely unfazed—and began to exercise her Agility; feeling very light and quick on her toes. While all of this was happening, of course, the Anorith then began to raise its own defenses, subtly using Harden as many times as it could while the three were busy charging up.
Once they were primed and ready, she then issued the battle call, “Get going, and make it count! Take the Anorith down! Shinku, get ready to Crunch that thing if it comes too close… Ravvie, assist Zira! Zira, you take the lead, you take care of that thing!” and the three then charged forward, boosted to the maximum that they could sustain in their current form. The Anorith was prepared for them, however—with its Defenses raised so high, it would take a while to bring him down. The Combusken closed the distance and quickly fired off a souped-up Thunder Punch, her fist crackling with electric energy—but instead of going off in an explosion, it merely glanced the side of the Anorith who was now puttering out of the way—and then set up with what appeared to be a Bug Bite attack! Since the three weren’t holding anything, it just came off as a Bug-type version of Bite; and the Combusken howled in pain as the Anorith hung on to her left arm!
As she tried to shake off the Anorith that was now hanging on to her arm, the Growlithe then veered in very close before snapping its own jaws in a Crunch attack on the Anorith—but was surprised to find out that she’d bitten a rather hard outer shell instead of soft shrimpy flesh! Looking rather perplexed, the Growlithe then backed off, before letting the Charmander step up to the plate—and then let loose with a stream of flames; having used her own Flamethrower attack! In response to all that was going on, the Anorith simply continued to hang on rather tenaciously on the Combusken’s arm, redoubling it’s Bug Bite efforts while the bipedal avian tried to shake off the intruder who was now hanging on for dear life! In the back of her mind, she could see a similar scenario unfolding—only instead of an Anorith, it was a Squirtle hanging on to an Electabuzz’s arm, while a bipedal pink sheep was preparing to fire off Discharge in order to shake off the tenacious Water-type…
She then snapped back into the present, before shouting out the next orders, “Ravvie, Shin! Alternate your Flamethrower attacks at the shrimp! Zira, bear with them in the meantime, see if you can shake it off! I know that thing’s hanging on for dear life, but you can fight your way out of it! Now go!” and then continued to watch the chaos—for now it was the Growlithe who was now exhaling an intense blast of flames that rocketed towards the Anorith; who was still attempting to literally bite off the Combusken’s arm. Once the flame barrage had merely heated the Old Shrimp’s shell, the Charmander then stepped up to the plate this time—before suddenly coming in close with a Slash attack that merely rebounded off the shell of the Anorith, who clearly wasn’t letting go. Out of desperation, it was the Combusken who’d decided to take things into her own hands—by quickly aiming a peppering spray of indigo-colored flames at the Old Shrimp; who was alarmed at the sudden burst of flames that was aimed right in its face!
It had finally let go and had landed on the ground in a heap. Izumi thought the battle was over; but a few moments later, the Anorith then got up; before suddenly starting to fire off a continuous stream of rocks—in reality it was now just letting loose with its Smack Down attack! As the obstacles suddenly began flying, the three Fire-types let out a cry of indignation, border lining dismay—because the rocks were definitely painful, to say the least. Izumi then saw what was going on, and cupped her hands to her mouth, before shouting again, “Weather it, guys! Weather it! Smash ‘em out of the way if you have to! Just take it down, and take it out!” before watching the rest of the battle rather apprehensively. Seeing that they were in literally dire straits, the Growlithe decided to do something crazy—by quickly crouching down close to the ground and suddenly veering in close—aided by her Agility—before unleashing a new move that she’d never seen before!
Seeing as the Growlithe had taken the lead and had already used Close Combat—but Izumi didn’t know about this—the Combusken then quickly started punching rocks out of the sky with her Thunder Punch; even if it really wasn’t effective—while the Charmander provided covering fire with her own Flamethrower. It was at this point the Combusken got an idea—why not send the rocks back at the Anorith instead? After the Growlithe had finished delivering a series of up-close-and-personal attacks via Close Combat—she then waited for the next few rocks to come soaring—and began to divert them back towards the Anorith, letting the Growlithe get out of the way before the incoming debris started hitting the Shrimp! The Charmander then understood what the Combusken was up to, before cutting across to one side—and then breathing out a stream of Flamethrower at the returning rocks; and as each obstacle passed through the flames, it became some sort of small meteorite, which then began to rain down on the unsuspecting Anorith!
She then heard a loud squeal of pain from the Old Shrimp as the burning rocks were raining down around it, and then seized the chance, “Go! Finish it!” and watched as the three ‘mons then converged on a single point—the Combusken unloading a Thunder Punch; the Growlithe resorting to Close Combat once again—and the Charmander finally peppering the Anorith with another Flamethrower. Several moments later, the Old Shrimp finally fell, and the three then proceeded to head in deeper into the Area 1 grounds, which caused the Trainer to suddenly chase after them instead!

Izumi could only wonder why her three companions were out for blood—probably because they were so riled up, they wanted to just get it over with and look for the Grass-type that they were looking for… when they all let out a simultaneous roar. Wondering just what the hell they might have seen, she then proceeded to follow them—and then came to another clearing; where there was something vaguely…familiar leering right at her. It took her a few moments to realize that it was the same Carnivine that she’d seen the last time!Is it the same one, or is it another of its relations? Either way, this thing must be exterminated! She thought rather angrily to herself before whistling rather shrilly, the better for the three to realize that they were not alone. Almost as one, the three Fire-types then turned around to face her, before noticing that she was quite annoyed…at the Carnivine.
“I am speechless… Ravvie, Shin, Zira… take it down.Do whatever it takes. We’re here for something, and that thing in front of us is definitely… not it. Roast it with fire if you have to, just drive it back so we can continue our search!” she began, before crossing her arms and standing at the edge of the clearing, letting the three then rush forward in order to be able to drive it back. In its own defense, the Carnivine then rooted itself right into the ground—looks like this was going to be a replay of what had happened before on her last trip here—having used Ingrain in order to anchor itself to the ground to draw nutrients and to just literally annoy the hell out of the three that were assembled there. Right on cue, the three Pokémon then positioned themselves at seemingly equidistant points—before a sudden burst of flames erupted from each of their maws. Two of the streams of Flamethrower that were screaming towards the Carnivine were normal flames; while the third stream burned a rather unusual shade of indigo; as if resembling storm clouds that were ready to pour down on the ground below.
The Carnivine had apparently committed its biggest mistake—as there were three streams of fire that were literally headed its way—and then a sudden explosion knocked Izumi backwards, because the three streams of fire had apparently joined together to form one rather large, peculiarly-colored fireball and had literally exploded right in the Carnivine’s face! As the flames cleared away—the Carnivine was no longer there. Where had it gone? The answer became obvious as it then appeared in front of the Charmander, before dishing out a Feint Attack right to the stunned Fire Lizard’s face. The Charmander then let out a shocked cry of pain, before quickly raising her appendages and retaliating with a Slash—while the Combusken was now busy buffing herself up once more. Izumi then whistled, before shouting, “Hey! Shin! Agility and then try to take another bite out of that thing with Crunch, will you? Looks like it’s ganging up on Ravvie. Help her out!” and resumed her position, watching the entire scene unfold before her eyes.
The Carnivine, chuckling rather derisively as it stood back in order to unleash Vine Whip on the Charmander who was now trying her hardest not to cry because the Feint Attack was just that painful—suddenly let loose with another blast of Flamethrower; setting the incoming leafy tentacle-like appendages ablaze the moment the Fire-type attack hit it! The Carnivine then let out another squeal of pain, and was about to vanish once more in another Feint Attack (this time headed for the Growlithe) but the Combusken had managed to toss in a few instances of Bulk Up while it was dashing towards the Carni—and then suddenly slugging it skywards with Thunder Punch! Even if the Electric-type attack asn’t as effective as it normally would be on a Grass-type, at least the darned thing had been sent flying into the sky—quite literally. The Growlithe, who’d already boosted her speed with Agility, suddenly looked up at the falling speck—how the hell was she going to bite that thing if it was falling instead of on the ground—and then Izumi barked from the sidelines, “Shin! Change of plans. Use Flamethrower and catch it while it’s still in the air!”
The Growlithe nodded, before skidding to a stop and taking a deep breath—before releasing another burst of flames; and it was joined once more by two more streams of flames—as the three different instances of Flamethrower merged, the same thing that had happened to the Scyther earlier occurred once more; with all three streams of flame converging and just becoming one, big, writhing mass of heat. The Carnivine never knew what had hit it, and as the fireball literally exploded (and knocked Izumi off her feet once again) the thing was sent soaring far into the sky; while the three Fire-types had been blasted off their feet as well. She then peeled herself up and off the ground, before finding the Charmander next to her. With some assistance, she’d managed to locate all three of her companions; and continued to delve deeper into Area One… because their elusive target was still out there, somewhere.
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Dec 22, 2014 9:51:25 GMT -5
Now that she’d managed to drive off the Carnivine (more like it had been punted into the sky) Izumi then continued with the three rather… bloodthirsty Fire-types she was training up. She was now wondering if Zira’s temperament was starting to rub off on her companions—they were all females, mind, not a single male among them—when they all let out a unified cry of approval and then charged forward again—wondering this time just what the hell they’d seen, she decided to quicken the pace and suddenly found herself in another clearing—where there was something that had a really long leaf protruding out of its forehead sunning itself rather sleepily. She then tried to remember just what it was—when she realized that she’d already seen this somewhere before; she already had one in fact! An evil, devious grin then spread across her face, because she’d finally found her gift for a certain scruffy individual who didn’t like shaving and thought of the concept of being clean-shaven as a foreign thing.
The grin was so wide on her face it was threatening to rip her muscles—and she then gave a shrill whistle. The three Fire-types then looked up at the noise—and unfortunately, so did the Chikorita, who was alarmed to see that there were trespassers on the territory! She then pointed ahead, and then said the only words the Fire-types needed to get going; “Get her! Or him! Do whatever it takes, that one’s coming with us!” and then settled herself down to watch the pending carnage that was about to happen. As one, the three Fire-types let out their cries of approval; while the Chiko did the only thing it could in order to be able to defend itself: by quickly conjuring up two screens in order to block the damage and these were Light Screen and Reflect! The three had noticed that there were some sort of “mystic walls” that had appeared in front of the Chiko, before vanishing; and for now, the Chiko was safe…from harm.
The Combusken then quickly took lead, by charging forward and boosting her stats with Bulk Up—no questions asked, no hesitation—before quickly charging up her left fist with Thunder Punch and slugging it right at the Chiko for maximum impact! Even if Electric-type attacks weren’t as effective on Grass-types, it was something to start off, at least. The Charmander was right on the Combusken’s tail, quickly letting loose with a blast of flames—it had unleashed Flamethrower right at the thing! Noticing that Shinku was just watching the other two tackling the Chiko, Izumi then stood up and then whistled in the Growlithe’s direction, before helping steer the Growlithe in the right direction, “Shin! Agility, keep up with them—and support when necessary! Flamethrower, or Crunch, or whatever that crazy move is that you used earlier; I leave that to your discretion, just help them take it down!” and the Growlithe gave an encouraging bark, before quickly slipping into the fray with Agility, letting her move right on her feet.
Now that the three were circling around the Grass-type, the Chiko was sort of glad that the two protective screens were cushioning the blows—but it could only last for so long. As the Combusken came in close for a Slash attack, the Chiko then let loose with Natural Gift…but then again it wasn’t holding anything! it then let out a cry of shock as the two “protective screens” were now shuddering under the impact of the Fire-type attacks that were slamming into it. The Charmander continued to unload its Flamethrower on it, and the Chiko was hanging on…somehow, while the Growlithe zipped around and finally managed to see an opening behind the Chiko and sank its fangs in for a sneaky application of Crunch on its back side! As the Grass-type let out a cry of pain, the screens were shuddering violently all the more—even as the Combusken was now unloading its indigo-colored Flamethrower right at the thing, while the Charmander had resorted to the usual hack-and-Slash method in order to attempt to wear down the defensive screens it had thrown up.
The three continued to wear down the (literally) defenseless Chikorita until the two defensive screens it had thrown up finally shattered and gave way; and the Grass-type was bathed in flames due to the attempt at trying to get out of the way! The Growlithe had switched tactics and was now unloading the full firepower on the Chiko; as well as the Charmander. The Combusken, however, was just waiting for the opportune moment; and after “roasting” the thing to an inch of its life, the Combusken closed the distance and slugged the Chiko flying with Thunder Punch once again, and the trails of flame continued after it into the sky, bathing it continuously in heat and flames until it crashed down with a rather unceremonious landing. As the smoldering Chiko lay there, Izumi could only shake her head before tossing the Safari Ball at the battered thing, wondering if Josh would appreciate a pyrophobic Chikorita for a Christmas present…

After the Safari Ball stopped shuddering and finally went off with a loud “ding”, she then raised her hands out of celebration, because she’d done it! She’d finally managed to catch Josh’s Christmas present! Just as she bent over to pick up the occupied Safari Ball, she thought she’d seen something coming from her three companions—and what the hell was that burning sensation in one of her pockets again?! “Don’t tell me…” she began, looking over at where the three were standing, who were just staring at her looking absolutely shell-shocked. Looks like this is a fast time to evolve everybody… it’s interesting… but hey, if it works… she thought as she then quickly looked away as the sudden bursts of light that was pouring out of all of her Pokémon at the exact same time.
The Charmander then looked at the Combusken, who was looking extremely pleased with herself—while the Growlithe was stunned at what was going on, and just howled at the occurrence. The bright lights show lasted only a moment, and it was all over—and Izumi then turned back and looked at the three young ones—and was shocked to see that two of them were “young” no longer; for she was now looking at a much taller Zira; not to mention much more shapely. The Growlithe was small no longer—instead, in its place, stood a majestic, absolutely regal-looking…bigger version of Shinku. The one thing that she’d noticed was that Ravvie, otherwise known as Ravana, was still rather on the smallish side; or was she much larger than normal species her size?
“Wh…whoa. Shit. Seriously, whoa. Congrats on evolving, you three,” she began with a rather large grin on her face; to which the Blaziken then let out a roar; while the Arcanine howled, arcing its head into the sky. The Charmeleon looked absolutely listless though—as if it was looking for something. “Hey… Ravvie? What’s the matter?” she asked the rather skittish Charmeleon—before something had apparently snapped in her little mind, and she quickly breathed a blast of fire in the direction of Izumi! “WHOA!” she shrieked, before the Blaziken quickly cut in front of her and countered the blast of flames with her own indigo-colored Flamethrower; the two streams of flame colliding in mid-air before exploding, sending the Charmeleon right into the Arcanine, who then looked down and growled rather ominously at the misbehaving little lizard.
“S-Shin. S-stop, stand down. She didn’t mean that. Thanks for the save, Zi, but… ugh, don’t tell me all Charmanders really lose their cool when they evolve…” she groaned, before finally managing to grab the Safari Ball, moments before it was teleported to her personal storage, where she’d retrieve it later. “Ravana, that was not nice at all. In fact that was absolutely unbecoming of you. What if your mother—pray tell, your father—finds out about this?” she continued, crossing her arms, and quickly trying to recall the stubborn Charmeleon who was now going on a rampage. Several times it had dodged, but with the help of the much larger Arcanine and the Blaziken, she was finally able to recall the boisterious little one back into her containment unit. “Geez, do they really go off the deep end? At least you two didn’t. Thanks,” she continued, giving the Arcanine a head rub, while nodding at the Blaziken before hightailing it out of the area.
