Izumi had heard from Josh that there was a Professor who actually specialized in Fossils, and she wanted to give raising one of the “ancient ones” a shot. After she’d sold away the Shieldon to a Ranger (who knew what that Ranger was up to now) she could only wonder—were the “ancient ones” (also known as the fosillized ‘mons) the same as all other Pokémon? Or was there some weird “quirk” about them? What kind of food do they eat? Meat? Ancient berries? Or do they do just fine with PokeTreats? She thought to herself as she looked at the extra calling card that Josh had given her; so here she was in the Kanto region, having taken a little “side trip” to Pewter City in order to be able to look for this particular Professor’s lab. After asking for the whereabouts of the lab, she was informed that it was somewhere on the path that led from the City of Stone headed to Mount Moon; and as she took the walk down the path, familiar memories swirled up in her head.
Ahh, Claire. I mean, Nora. You were really the first one who got me learned in the ways of battling—and you were also the one who taught me how to take advantage of dual attacks… she continued to muse to herself with a grin on her face, feeling the cold wind whistle through the area. She knew that their “training grounds” was somewhere around here—but with the way the surroundings kept on changing, she couldn’t be too sure if it was just at the place she’d passed, or if it was up ahead…? As she consulted the calling card again, she let her feet do the walking—before realizing that she had almost walked into the gate of what looked like to be an isolated laboratory, located almost at the “halfway point” between the City of Stone and the Mountain where Clefairy were rumored to be found dancing on a certain day of the week. “Alright, now what…” she muttered, as she looked around—and spotted some sort of an intercom that had instructions on it.
She then decided to err on the side of caution and then pressed the buzzer, before looking up at the security cameras—she knew that they were hooked up 24/7, and she hoped that the Professor was here!
The Professor in question had been in his lab, working on some samples fresh from the Kalos Region. Even with all the time he had with his own Aurorus and Tyrunt, he still had very little samples, and thus very little information, to work with. Fossil work was slow and meticulous, and even his expert hand had to slow down to make sure not a fragment of the samples were damaged - they were few and far in between, and the Pokemon Paleontology community looked to him for continuous answers. But when the buzzer was pressed, the chiming bell tones that the doorbell had ringed throughout all of the Laboratory. Stopping slowly, he looked up to the computer screen - a lady? Perhaps a visitor?
He would have to get himself cleaned up before he greeted her - his glasses and hair were covered in dust, as were his clothes. Hands were dirty and a little rough. Simply unpresentable in this kind of air. As he put the safety covers on the sample, beginning to pause the experiment, he called out "Mandragora".
From the hallway which connected the laboratory to the manor waddled out Mandragora, Arthur's Cradily and his first Pokemon. "Mandragora, darling, would you get Osiris and both of you meet the visitor at the door while I clean myself up? Tell them I'll be right over, yes?" The Barnacle Pokemon simply nodded, and happily started waddling over to the main entrance. On the way, it had simply called out softly, and immediately, Osiris, the Professor's Alakazam, teleported to her side, as both Pokemon walked out the main door, moving over to face Izumi.
Both Pokemon seemed to bow slightly, Mandragora lowering her head while the Alakazam simply nodded in greeting. Then, Osiris, using telepathy, began communicating to Izumi in the human language. "Greetings, Visitor, and welcome to Symphonia Labs. I am Osiris, the Professor's Alakazam, and this is Mandragora, his Cradily. The Professor is currently busy, but will come out shortly to greet you - how can we help you in your visit to the laboratory?" The voice was polite, yet sutffy, almost butler-like. Mandragora swayed softly as she looked over Izumi, but otherwise seemed happy to meet her.

She was wondering if the Professor was busy—if he was, she’d have to come by some other day instead; but from what Josh had told her about him, this particular one was the leading expert on the Fossil-types that were abundantly found; she’d run into several fossils herself as of late, but had decided to pass them over—except for this one tucked under her left arm, carefully wrapped in cloth. It was a chunk of amber that had a dot of something inside it; and she could only guess as to what it was—therefore, her visit today. Izumi was about to turn around when the door opened when she was suddenly greeted by the “welcoming committee”, or some semblance of it.
The cute thing about it was that they bowed her way; and as someone who had been raised in the culture and norms of a certain society, quickly bowed back to them in return, much deeper than the two—she could tell that they had a certain air about them; because of the way they carried themselves. The Cradily she was familiar with by sight; having encountered one in the possession of the only Gym Leader she’d challenged (and ended up losing) while the other one looked to be a much older version of her Kadabra, Belphegor. She’d never guessed that the Alakazam would begin addressing her—without words. Thankfully she already had experience with this kind of communication before, courtesy of Nora’s own Alakazam that she’d worked with in the past.
She was about to address them vocally; but decided to just go with the flow and gathered her thoughts instead; before speaking to the Alakazam. She’d noticed that his “voice” was somewhat resembling of a butler’s; extremely polite, yes, but also stuffy at the same time. So she screwed up her thoughts, and then gathered them before speaking, “Well, I’ve come here on the word of a friend of mine who’s visited the Professor previously—Josh Dragomir, if you've had him over him—and he informed me that the Professor is an expert on Fossils. In fact, I actually have a request that he might find interesting,” and at that point carefully unwrapped the Old Amber she was carrying with her right now. “I’d like for him to take a look at this, and see if there’s a possibility that it could be revived…?”
Stuffy? Well, he admitted, it was a bit true, but still, that wasn't nice to hear. Then again, he wasn't supposed to be prying in her thoughts - the extra effect of communicating telepathically with humans, Osiris reminded himself. He took the liberty of translating the mental communication to Mandragora, so she could hear too - simply out of courtesy. He listened for a second and inspected the piece of Amber - it certainly looked familiar... Maybe Zephyr... No, the Professor would know, he most certainly would know. Mandragora, however, seemed to be more confident in her assessment. She seemed to already know what the Pokemon inside the Amber was.
As she presented the amber to the Pokemon, Osiris took the liberty of telekinetically levitating it - he weighed it, but otherwise held it midair as he inspected it.. After a few seconds, he gave it back and responded. "Ah, yes, Mr. Dragomir - came to show off a few of his Pokemon to the Professor. But Mr. Dragomir informed you wrong: the Professor is the expert and head of the field of Pokemon Paleontology." The bias was obvious, and Mandragora rolled her eyes at Osiris's reply.
"Nonetheless, the Professor would be thrilled to have another sample to look over, even more so to revive - he shall be right down. Please, come inside."
The Professor in question was in the upstairs bathroom, cleaning up as much as possible. His hair was a hot mess, and that would take a good few minutes of brushing and taking care of, so he'd leave that for last. His clothes were given a do-over, making them prim and proper, with all buttons and pins where they needed to be. Dust cleaned off, hands washed, he tackled his hair and face with vigor, trying to brush both efficiently and quickly - it worked, on the most part. His hair was perpetually messy, so he didn't fight with it more than necessary.
Back downstairs, the two Pokemon moved aside, allowing the visitor to step into the entrance hall. It was easy to tell that his entrance hall also doubled as a library of sorts, with giant shelves lining the walls - rows upon rows of books, some old, some new, leatherbound and not, lined the shelves in patterns that seemed to relate more to theme and topic than source or age. There were chairs, old but comfortable, and a table in the entrance room, as well as stairs that led up to the upper floors. The room would have been very dark if it were not for the giant skylight on the ceiling, letting soft sunlight flow in. Atop a bookshelf, Morgana the Spiritomb and Pierce the Sableye looked upon the entering visitor with curious eyes, Morgana more mischievous and Pierce more serious. With a sharp look, however, Osiris made the Ghosts behave.
As she settled in, not a few minutes after her entrance, the Professor walked into the entrance hall, standing at the top of the stairs. He adjusted his glasses as he looked down, before beginning to take the steps down. The other Pokemon seemed to all go on their way - Osiris nodded once again and teleported off, the Ghost-Types floated off into the other bookshelves, but Mandragora, the Cradily, stayed. Taking Arthur's side as he reached the bottom floor, she simply swayed in the sunlight as Arthur stated "I apologize for the wait - welcome to Symphonia Labs, visitor - I am Professor Arthur Symphonia. How may we be of service?"

Izumi then watched as the chunk of yellow was suddenly taken and then levitated, before being inspected from all angles; a few moments later it was back in her possession, before hearing the Alakazam’s voice in her head again; to which she gave a chuckle. “Guess I have to correct Josh next we meet,” she said to herself with a grin; she could tell that this Alakazam was rather proud of his master, and had every right to be so—the Cradily had apparently snarked him by rolling her eyes in his direction after that particular quip.
After getting word that the Professor would be down shortly, she then watched as the two then silently parted like the Red Sea, allowing her access to the Professor’s humble abode. The moment she’d taken her first steps inside, her eyes almost popped out at the sight of all the books that were crammed into a single place. If there was something that she enjoyed as much as training the entire army under her care, it was a good read.
She then wondered if she could be able to borrow a few books from him in this case, and her field of vision then traveled upwards—seeing that there were two others that were occupying the top shelves. One of them she recognized, owning one of them; the other she’d seen around a lot in the Granite Cave. They were leering at her with what appeared to be rather mischievous looks, but their features promptly rearranged themselves to one of mild curiosity (or so it seemed to her) a few moments later.
Since she was still looking at all the books on display, she almost missed the Professor himself coming down from what appeared to be the second floor of his abode, and quick as she saw them—the four ‘mons she’d seen on her way in quickly retreated, off to do their own thing, she guessed. Only the Cradily stayed there—in fact, she watched with some interest as the Pokémon waddled over to her place of honor beside the taller individual.
Drats, I hate being short… she thought for a few moments before his voice caught her attention. She then decided to get to the point, quickly showing the Old Amber that she’d wrapped up again in its protective cloth. “Yes, as a matter of fact I do, Professor—one of my friends referred me to you; and as your Alakazam had corrected me, you’re the go-to when it comes to Fossils. I have something you might be interested in,” she began, before unveiling the Old Amber for the second time today, showing it to him.
“I was wondering if it was possible to have it resurrected; or restored—or whatever it is you can do with them. I’ve seen other Fossils, yes, but none as unusual…as this one. I was hoping that you could also tell me what you know about the Pokemon that’s tied to this beauty here, with your leave, if that’s not too much to ask,” she continued, letting him take the Old Amber if he so wished.

WORDS 521 TAGSArthur Symphonia NOTESLooks like there's another interested individual with fossils
"She is referring to Mr. Dragomir, Professor." Arthur heard in his mind from an absent Osiris - so he was still watching. Unsurprising, really - he was like some sort of butler, he was. The Professor simply nodded in understanding as the visitor explained herself, eyes glinting with interest as the sample of Old Amber was presented to him. For a second, he had to remind himself to maintain simple, stable control. He had a bad habit of becoming a bit... passionate about Fossils. It reminded him of those "Fossil Maniacs" he had met before. It wasn't something he certainly enjoyed about himself, so he kept it under lock and key.
"Professor, Mandragora seems to have an idea of the species that could be held inside the sample, if any." He heard in his mind.
She's experienced, she knows the field, and her hunches are often right. Aerodactyl, right?
"Correct"
The Professor nodded and smiled at the mental conversation, patting his Cradily softly with small adoration. Unsurprisingly, Arthur had thought the same thing - many species have not been conserved in Amber, mainly because of the fact that they were not tree-dwellers. The only exceptions were the Flying-Types, Archen and Aerodactyl, but Archen's trees of choice were not sap-making species - those trees simply didn't exist when Archen was around. He knew this off the top of his head, and so as she offered the Old Amber to him, he slowly reached out and picked it up, looking inside to see what looked to be a tooth - he could recognize the shape and size.
"Well, Miss, you have found a sample of fossilized Aerodactyl DNA. Truly, a great find - you do me an honor and a pleasure to demonstrate such a fine and well-kept sample to me, as well as give me the option to revive it. I will gladly do so - Mandragora, go get Nautilus and some other Pokemon. We might need them" The Professor stated, a smile on his face as he kept examining the fossilized amber. With a turn of his heel, he began walking off to a hallway, nearby the stairs. "If you would follow, please..."
The Fossil Professor led Izumi through a wide corridor, well-lit, simply decorated with royal-blue paint and some bookshelves here and there. There were other doors that led to other places, but Arthur headed for the main door at the other end of the hall – large gates, much more modern, metallic and mechanized, stood before him. Going into his blue jacket, the Professor pulled out a card, which he slid in a form of slot. With an electronic beep, the doors began to slide open, light flooding the corridor as the laboratory revealed itself.
A skylight flooded the room with sunlight, bathing what would be a creepily eerie room with plenty of mellow, yellow light. On some corner, there were some tables, along with some books of some forgotten research topic that Osiris was probably working on not too long ago. There were many plants growing here and there, strange specimens that were obviously not of this time. Similarly there were tubes and pods, some filled with earth, some filled with water, inhabited by plants and some other species, prehistoric creatures brought to life by the Professor’s mechanisms and for the Professor’s studies. A chair with various glowing panels sat in the middle of it all, the control center for the computer of the laboratory. The Professor walked up to it, inputing some commands onto the panels, before turning back to Izumi.
Quickly, the Pokemon he had stated flowed back into the room - Mandragora the Cradily and Nautilus the Omastar were at his flanks, while Polaris the Starmie surfaced from one of the water-filled pods. Next to the computer, from the floor, a large metallic box rose, one side opening, revealing the hollow inside. Placing the Old Amber into the box, he spoke.
"Now, we should be ready to begin the resuscitation process. You said you wanted to learn about the species, yes?"
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Dec 26, 2014 5:41:20 GMT -5
Izumi then watched in silence as the Professor was seemingly…doing the mental communication thing, because he was looking in the direction of the bookshelves (at least that’s what she’d noticed) before giving the Cradily a knowing look and a gentle smile. She could only guess just what had transpired, but in any case, she decided to follow the Professor as he led her through the area that was crammed with even more bookshelves that held musty tomes of who-knew-what literature it contained; before finally coming into the “main” laboratory itself.
The room itself was nice, only thing was that the tanks on the walls creeped her out only slightly, along with the rather durable-looking metallic gate that separated it from the rest of the compound. After banishing thoughts of demented, insane experiments from her mind, she then continued to follow him, still taking in the surroundings in awe.
The other redhead doesn’t have anything on this, she continued to herself with a slight grin on her face, remembering Bailey’s own lab that she’d last seen in Coumarine. She didn’t know if he was moving over to Nue, but she knew that she definitely had to pay him another visit eventually. It was at this point she noticed that the Cradily wasn’t alone—there was another companion hot on its heels, while one of the tanks suddenly had an occupant within—a weird, ten-pointed creature with a rather large gem on its breadth that was now spinning within the water and looking over the proceedings with much interest.
She then watched as the machine hissed open, before the weird chunk of amber was gently placed within before the Professor turned to her with another question. “Yes, that’s correct. I would want to know as much as you can share about the Pokémon that the Old Amber currently houses. What it eats, how it acts around humans and fellow Pokémon, the whole ten yards if you may,” she said, before reaching behind her and taking out a note pad along with a pen, poised and ready to take notes.
The Professor had a wide smile as he listened to her questions - he was delighted to have someone interested in Pokemon Paleontology, or at least in the species that he was going to revive for them, Aerodactyl. He was used to people asking about their battle prowess, their abilities, so on and so forth, but to ask about their behaviors, their eating patterns? That was something he would most certainly enjoy. Plus, she had this notebook like pad - it was like he was giving a class or something. For once, the title of Professor was now more fitting than before. Maybe he should take to being a teacher at some point, he certainly liked it.
The Professor sat down, pressing some commands on his computer at practiced speeds, numbers and screens flying off in the computer as the outline and picture of the desired Pokemon, Aerodactyl, appeared in the upper-right hand corner. The Lab seemed to come to life, as the sounds of whirring energy and moving machinery began to fill the spacious room. An empty pod that wasn't too far off from them suddenly found itself being cloistered and wrapped in metal sheets, concealing the insides and sealing the pod within.
"Very well, I shall gladly share some of my knowledge. Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokemon, is a Rock and Flying-Type Pokemon that lived aeons ago. While defensively, it is somewhat fragile, it is quite the powerhouse offensively, almost literally ripping any foe to shreds with incredible force and speed. At first, when discovered, its remains lead us to think that it was a carnivore and apex predator, due to the size and shape of its teeth. However, we have found that it is instead an omnivore, gladly consuming fruit and other kinds of food - however, do not think that it will not attempt to be a predator, even with an abundance of food. With its maw, it could easily rip out its victim's throat."
The machines around the lab whirred and buzzed with different mechanisms as the Professor spoke, his fingers swiftly imputing more and more commands into the computer. From an open window flew in Zephyr, the Professor's own Aerodactyl. "Ah, good, Zephyr, you came - I was going to call you. You four should be able to do the job, yes?" The Aerodactyl landed and perched itself on top of a railing, but otherwise nodded and smiled, waving with one paw at the visitor and cawing loudly. Arthur took a breath to continue.
"Aerodactyl are normally proud Pokemon, due to their strength and position as predators - their relationships with humans are based around respect more than affection, though they can be quite loving once used to you. However, those who disrespect it or those it dislikes are met with swift and terrible violence. In fact, many a Trainer, even skilled ones, take a long time to tame and train their Aerodactyl so they can even be out of their Poke Balls without it being a threat to society. Zephyr, for example, took two months to listen to me. Is that not right, Zephyr?" Incredibly, the Aerodactyl nodded in a very matter-of-fact way.
The four Pokemon that the Professor had called up were now all waiting by the pod, ready to act - they knew the drill with Pokemon like Aerodactyl. The culmination of the whirring came with a pop! sound, and as the metal and pod removed itself, inside the dry pod was a newly resuscitated Aerodactyl, the Fossil Pokemon's eyes wide with surprise and curiosity. The Cradily and the Omastar began speaking to it, in calming voices (with a screech from Arthur's Aerodactyl or a "Hyoh!" from the Starmie), attempting to explain the situation and the Pokemon shouldn't fear them. Slowly, but surely, the tenseness of the Pokemon began to dissolve, as it only leveled a stare at Izumi, cold and emotionless. It kept staring at her, even as the Professor stood up from his chair, moving towards his Pokemon and motioning Izumi towards the newly resuscitated Aerodactyl.
"Here you are, Ma'm. Your Old Amber has been successfully resuscitated into the Aerodactyl in contained."

Izumi was relieved that the Professor didn’t exactly mind her busting out her notepad and pen; in fact she could tell that he was enjoying this just as much as she was! To be honest, she was the kind of Trainer that valued “the bonds that tie” with any Pokémon, regardless of origin; rather than turning them into mindless beings that only thirst for battle. As he began to speak with a rather fervent tone, the pen clicked open, and she began to take notes on what he was elaborating. She’d also noticed that he was speaking not too fast; not too slow—he was communicating at a pace that was “just right” for her in order to be able to get all the facts. As of the moment, this was what her note pad looked like, crazy handwriting permitting:
• Aero: Rock/Flying type from the prehistoric times • Agile, better suited for “the best defense is a good offense” • Mistakenly presumed to be a predator until recent studies proved that wrong • Treat with caution unless you want to get your throat ripped out!
After the first half of the discussion, she had a few questions—but decided to save it until after he was done speaking. She did consider it quite rude to interrupt other people who were talking, after all; and was about to continue writing when there was a break in the conversation as another one of the Professor’s Pokémon flew in to observe the scene—it was perfect, really, showing her a living specimen of the Fossil that she was looking forward to acquiring in order to be able to raise for herself. As he continued to speak about the rest of the breadth of facts that he had gathered about the Aerodactyl, she then continued to write, and this appeared underneath the information she already had written down:
• Aeros are very proud—think Hippogriffs, only on a more prehistoric and predatorial scale • Behaves just like a Hippogriff does; disrespect an Aero and that’s all you wrote • Can and will take a while of companionship to get used to—my kind of raising, to be honest • “Recent studies” mentioned earlier prove that Aeros also eat fruits as well as meat
She didn’t notice that the machine itself was giving off whirring and puffing noises—and that most of his Pokémon had assembled there for that very reason. It was a few moments later she understood why; because the pod where he’d placed the chunk of amber in had finally split open, much like an egg revealing its newborn baby. She could tell that his ‘mons have had some practice with this scenario already; and the tension was so thick in the air, she could almost taste it. Seeing that it had been dissipated somewhat, she then twiddled with the pen for a few moments, before speaking up, “Allow me to help out, too, with your leave,” and then plucked out a pink Love Ball, popping it to full size before releasing its occupant.
The flash of red light then materialized into her Gardevoir, tall and graceful—and with good reason. Out of Izumi’s own army members, Momiji here had been with her the longest, and knew her the best; so having her most trusted companion around for this kind of thing would help out loads. “Alright, Momiji… do your thing. I know you can manage…” she began, and the Embrace ‘mon then slowly walked (or floated) forward and began projecting “images” into the newly-revived Aerodactyl’s primitive mind. The Gardevoir could tell that it was still very much confused; but still defiant; and communications were proving to be quite difficult; but doable. Right then and there the Fossil Pokémon (not Arthur’s but hers) then let out a screech; hoping to startle the Gardevoir away—but she kept her cool.
After a few more minutes of silence, Izumi herself then folded up the note pad and pen, stowing it away before slowly walking forward, cautiously—because she didn’t want to get off on the wrong foot now, did she. She already had a containment unit in her hand—it was another one of her endless stashes of Moon Balls—and she’d saved one for this very special occasion. “I… don’t know if you’re a male, or a female,” she began, addressing the Aero mostly, while looking at it as calmly as she could; unfazed by the cold stare she was getting from it. “But I will let you know this—everything that my Gardevoir had showed you in your mind; it’s all true. I know it will take a while for you to get used to me; and I swear, upon my name, that I will not mistreat you in any manner,” she said in a level voice; now aware that the Aero species were fine creatures—this could possibly explain as to why her sponsor’s own Aerodactyl was being such a righteous little thing, refusing to listen to him for more than ten minutes.
After the silence fell; the Aero then shuffled forward—and at that cue she gave it a bow; the lowest bow that she could manage without literally tripping over; and to her surprise, the Aero tilted its head sideways, before letting out a more subdued screech. It was a start, at the very least! “There, there. We can talk more later, okay? You have my word,” she ended, before tapping it gently with the Moon Ball, and watching as it was sucked up in the flash of red light. Now that the first few tentative steps had been taken, she then straightened up once more, before turning to the Professor and saying, “You definitely know your stuff. It’s no wonder Osiris over here is very proud of your standing,” she began, before quickly jumping to the questions that she had in mind.
“I also have a few more questions—one of them being, can they support the weight of one person on their backs? I know that most of the bigger Flying-types can; my Braviary for one; but I’d also like to check if it was possible—after all of the trust and bonding has been done, of course. Another question would be, is it okay if I turn to you when I encounter more Fossils in the future? They’ve been popping up like mushrooms lately in the Badlands, and I’ve been getting more and more curious about them, to be honest.
My last question is… and I hope it’s not too much asking—would it be alright for me to borrow some of your books on Pokémon Fossils, so that I can read through them as well? It’s alright if you don’t want to lend out your research material,” she said in a rush, knowing that it was a potentially awkward situation that she’d posed upon the Professor!
For a second, he had to resist the urge to chuckle. It wasn't even so much that the Pokemon was afraid of them, but it was probably afraid of them interring themselves into what it could well consider its territory. Aerodactyl wasn't afraid of the visitor mistreating it, as much as it was afraid that it would steal the next meal. The reason why the Professor called so many strong Pokemon was to restrain the Aerodactyl if it decided that they were good prey - he was just glad that his defense mechanisms were unnecessary
He also approved of her idea - Gardevoir would be a good choice to transmit the ideas that they were trying to convey to the Pokemon. In its bewildered state, it was sure to be a little confused with all the Pokemon talking to it, so having simple imagery and empathy be part of the situation would probably help out. Arthur had to say, he liked her style - gutsy, but still thought out and well done. Reminded him of himself, albeit more active, less think-y. He had a bad habit of overanalyzing and over-detailing everything.
While his Pokemon were calm and comforting, they were ready for any moment that the newly-revived Pokemon might act up. The visitor's sense of honor was admirable, but in all honestly, they doubted that even a Gardevoir's empathic connection would make it understand what she meant. They didn't feel that the fossil before them was afraid. It was... curious. As one is curious about food. Or, at least, that's what they guessed. Certainly, that's what Zephyr was like for the first few months. It took Mandragora's continuous eye to make sure he didn't nibble on the younger Pokemon in the laboratory. And Elsa had made an official complaint. It had been a hubbub.
Nonetheless, the Professor smiled widely when he saw the Pokemon go into the Poke Ball willingly, and more importantly, that the capture was complete. This person really knew what they were doing, something the Professor really appreciated. That one time when that youngster, Joey, had tried to bring in an Aerodactyl sample... He thought it would be better not to dwell on it. He took the compliment in stride, before getting to her questions, answering one-by-one in that calm, well-paced tone.
"Aerodactyl, with enough practice and training, can and are very able to carry others on their back, albeit their proud natures make them unwilling mounts at times. Still, a lady of skill and ability such as yourself should have no problem reaching that level of cooperation." He commented, before continuing.
"I would be honored and very pleased with more visits from you, and the bringing of fossil samples is just an added blessing. It is always good for the heart to see someone interested in one's field of study, even if only a little. You are much welcome - albeit, you should know, I am moving the lab to Tyntill Town in the Nue Region, per League's orders."
For the last question, he chuckled, adjusting his glasses a little. "You would have to ask Osiris if he's willing to lend you the books - he has taken upon himself the job of librarian, really. However, you have my permission to take anything from the library you desire, as long as you bring it back - it is my personal collection, after all. Worry not about "research material" - I remember most anything in those books by memory. Some of them I wrote." He said, with a matter of fact tone and a laugh. He wasn't trying to brag, he was just being honest. He liked this one - it always made him happy to see someone who cared about Fossils - perhaps not as much as he did, but it did the trick.

Quickly taking mental notes for the answer to her first question, she then decided to file that away for future use—because right now, she was still in the middle of getting some of her other flight-capable companions to let her ride astride; with her Braviary taking the lead in those lessons. She knew that anything that was capable of flight was bound to be able to carry something of their own size; if not greater, the words “looks can be deceiving” definitely applied to all Pokémon; because asides from the obvious choices that could ferry individuals around (like Gyarados and Lapras) there were some rather unexpected things that they could do.
As for the answer to her second inquiry, she then chuckled rather sheepishly, secretly thankful that he was very much welcome for her to drop by again—and once he’d mentioned that he was moving to the new region, decided to add that to the list of mental notes as well. “Tyntill over in Nue… I’ll keep note of that. At least I was still able to catch you over here in Kanto before you started moving out, thank goodness,” she said a few moments later, before chuckling at his modesty. “I’ll definitely make sure to ask your Alakazam formally while on the way out—but I’m sure he’s listening to our conversation as well,” she ended with a grin on her face.
Now that the Aero was slumbering within the Moon Ball, she then watched as it disappeared with a small pop, sent off to her own PC space—even her own Breeder contact was in the process of moving everything over to Nue as well; so she knew that at least, his own Aerodactyl would have some company once they got there. “Thank you very much for helping me with the Aero, I’ll make sure to get the books that have the Aero listed in it—and a few possible others. I might send over an associate of mine to you as well once you move to Nue—he’s got quite a collection of Fossils, but has no idea what to do with them,” she continued, before stepping backwards and recalling her Gardevoir; and then giving him a formal bow in his direction.
“I’ll communicate with Osiris before I leave for today,” she added, before bowing once more—this time in the Pokémon’s direction.
As everything began winding down, so did Arthur’s Pokemon, whose purpose had been rendered unnecessary – a happy coincidence. They were all just glad that the revived Pokemon didn’t react badly – they thought this way out of experience, not out of bias. Both Zephyr and Polaris flew out the window, the Aerodactyl through flight and the Starmie by using Rapid Spin to fly out of the window. Mandragora went back to her machinations – she began tending to some plants in an open pod, making sure they were healthy and cared for, using Ingrain when no one was looking to get some extra nutrients. The only one who stayed with the Professor was Nautilus, the Omastar, who quickly jumped into Arthur’s arms – both being careful to not impale Arthur on the shell’s spikes.
The Professor simply chucked as she thanked him, waving a hand while leaving the other to hold up his Omastar. ”No need to thank me – like I said, it is a pleasure to encounter someone interested in Pokemon Paleontology, even if only a little.” He smiled, taking the bow in stride and returning the honorific. ”Do tell your associate to come along; I would be happy to perform any resurrections that he desires. Goodbye, now – Osiris should be in the library.” Nautilus only waved goodbye with a serious but polite countenance.
And as expected, Osiris was in the library. The PSI Pokemon had a stack of books waiting for Izumi, piled neatly and protected by a bag, placed on the table. The Psychic-Type simply mentioned ”You are free, by the Professor’s permission, to take these books on your desired species, as well as any others which interest you.” He quickly began explaining the notes and locations of themes and topics within the library, and every so often mentioning how some specific tomes were extremely old and required very attentive care. The Alakazam, however, quickly grew very serious as he explained the last bit.
”I will expect you to bring the books back – do note that if you do not bring them back in a timely fashion, and you send no message of their status, I will go and find you to take the books back.” He sounded dead serious about this. In the corner, Morgana, the Spiritomb, cackled madly in devilish glee, as if she was hearing the conversation. As Izumi grabbed her books and excused herself out, the Psychic-Type waved her off, its serious countenance not changing, staring until she left, only to close the door and go back to his reading.
