Now that the holidays had passed—the next one was going to be Christmas in any case—he then realized something; it was now time for the November digging season to commence! Since he was already in Kalos, he didn’t have to travel too far—all he had to do was to venture back to the flat he was renting out in Lumiose and just get ready. As he was returning from the Halloween event, he was still wearing the same costume he’d found—he decided to head back for a quick shower, a quick nap… and restocking on supplies. After he’d done all of the aforementioned things, he then found himself rolling around on the mattress he’d set out on the floor (he wasn’t so big on sleeping on the bed anyway) and then grabbed his mobile phone—there was a message waiting for him! After furrowing his brows together (and replying to the message that his assistant had sent) he then decided to get started on the early day ahead.
After showering and picking out his Badlands dig clothes, he then began stuffing his backpack with the necessary “supplies”—mostly sandwiches and water canteens—before packing up the Pokeballs he always carried with him, and leaving the flat. The early morning Lumiose wind nipped at his face the moment he’d stepped out—but in a way, that did serve to wake him up. after traversing through the early-morning crowd of the city—and picking up a funny, flaky, moon-shaped piece of bread and some hot chocolate—he took the nearest exit that led to the Badlands and was not surprised to see a lot of people lining up so early—there were rumors circulating about new “marbles”, but they were still unconfirmed as of this time. Even so, that was motivation enough for those who wanted to start searching as early as now… but he was just here to investigate the Fossils he’d been stumbling across more frequently as of late.
As the line moved forward—and after getting his things checked and the green light to go digging—Kouji then set out into the Badlands, still sipping his hot chocolate. The excavation site still looked the same no matter where he went—and he decided to hike around, looking for a spot he could begin digging; because there were a lot of people who were now feverishly searching, chasing down the unconfirmed rumors… and after finding a nice, deserted spot, he then sent out his Krookodile, his digging partner; and then watched as Hiekka stretched his limbs before yawning; to which he gave a “good morning” snout rub. “Well, we’re back. Again. I hope his time we find good things. You know the drill… oh, wait,” he said, before the Krookodile could go and dig—because he had given the rest of the hot chocolate (which was now warm) to the Krookodile to get him going.
After that little exchange, the Desert Croc then took a running start, before diving at the ground, using his Dig technique in order to get started; while he took out the collapsible shovel and began poking holes in the ground.

It didn’t take too long before Kouji had actually stumbled upon something—and that something was, quite surprisingly, a Stone that was considered as “semi-rare” in the Kalos region. Sighing as he picked up the Thudner Stone, he could only wonder, what was causing the evolutionary stones to come up a lot more often? Where were the marbles at? he then sighed as he set down the greenish stone with a trapped lightning bolt inside it off to one side; before switching locations—he knew that Hiekka was smart enough to find him no matter where he went, at least when the Badlands was involved.
He then hoisted himself out of the trench he’d managed to dig up, before quickly walking over to another spot not too far away from where he’d begun digging, and then continued to try his luck there—who knew if he was going to get it big or if he was going to hit nothing again…? Deep underground, the Krookodile hadn’t found anything either, so with a derisive snort, continued to tunnel through the immediate area; not caring if the place he was in was one he’d already visited—even underground, the Badlands still looked the same no matter where the Desert Croc looked.
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found a RELIC BAND ! A bracelet made in a civilization about 3,000 years ago. A maniac will buy it for a high price.

This time, it was the Krookodile that had chanced upon something—however the something that it had found was one of the “undesirables” (namely, something from the “Relic series) he’d very nearly gone past it had his snout not literally rammed itself into the offending object! Letting out a grunt of displeasure, Hiekka then began to tunnel at the place where his snout had suffered excruciating pain—and upon unearthing the weird, rock-like bracelet, gave another snorting sound before quickly chucking the thing off to one side, where it had shattered with an ominous-sounding crash. The Krookodile then let out another derisive snort, before continuing to dig through the underground, scattering dirt and dust as he went.
Back topside, Kouji wasn’t having a good time of finding anything at all either, because at the new spot where he was digging, he’d only found dirt, dirt… and more dirt. “Where are the shinies at?” he said with a very confused look on his face, before scratching his head out of sheer curiosity. Sighing, he then decided to move to another location in order to be able to continue searching, secretly hoping that if he didn’t find anything, then his digging partner would have a chance in all hell to find one of the round, small, shining, shimmering, splendid loot that his own benefactor was now bashing her own head in for due to not being able to find too many of them lately.

Was there something conspiring in the heavens, working against Kouji and his Krookodile right at this very moment? Either there was, or there wasn’t—and whatever was going on, things weren’t looking too good for the ash-haired individual. This time it was he that had found something in the ground—and upon closer inspection; he squatted down and took a good look at it. After fishing out his own mobile phone and then scrolling through the pictures of Fossils that he’d taken from the reference book he’d found in one of the other cafes, he then noticed that it looked familiar—in fact he’d already encountered this one a few times before. “Hmmm,” was all he had time to ponder for, as he then quickly left the site—leaving the Root Fossil in peace; since he already had Varsi, its living counterpart.
Where to next… he thought as he then marched to another area; hoping that wherever he’d end up, there was a payload of all the shining, shimmering goodies waiting for him! Underground, the Desert Croc could only look around and just growl; because for all the ground he’d covered, he hadn’t found anything small, round and sparkly. It was better than hitting something that disintegrated into a million pieces whenever he bumped into it with his snout—that was one of the nastier things (encountering one of the “Relic” series) he’d learned to find as a fellow digger. Sighing, the Krookodile then continued to push aside layers of dirt and rocks, hoping that at least either he, or his master, would be able to find something worthwhile…!

After digging in silence for several minutes, Kouji felt his shovel scrape against something… that didn’t have the distinctive “clink” noise he normally associated with the shining marbles he had in that makeshift container he always carried around with him. As he then prodded his shovel in order to determine the “noise”, he then continued to unearth the ground around it—and his face fell; he’d run into another dud! What’s going on lately? I’m getting all these duds all of a sudden… where’s my good luck magic at now? He thought with some dismay as he then examined the weird, rock bracelet that lay half-exposed in the grit. Don’t you look familiar… I could honestly swear I found one of you before… he thought to himself as he then crouched down and then began brushing away the dirt as best as he could.
He knew that these things could be traded in for some mint, but otherwise that was the limit of their “usefulness”. Sighing, he then extracted the rock bracelet before standing up and stretching out. “Well, time to get this thing swapped in before returning to the dig… I know that even if I whistle…” he trailed off, clutching the slightly heavy thing in his hand as he then headed back “front” to where the guard’s tent was—he knew that there was a shady-looking individual there who was waiting for the unlucky diggers who wanted to trade in the weird rock things in exchange for some money. He didn’t care squat if they thought of the Relics as “trash” or “garbage”, he just wanted to buy them all and collect them!
