Kouji still had a little more time remaining in Kalos—at least until the Halloween festivities went full-blast (then he’d have to go over to Laverre and meet up with Angel) so he decided to go hunting for some Pokémon in the meantime. He’d had to go out one of the more southern exits from Lumiose, before cutting across the seemingly enchanting garden path until he arrived at Santalune—which reminded him of a city of nothing but flowers—and then bore right, at least until he’d come across the entrance to the actual Victory Road itself. He knew that there was some sort of “weird” limitations when it came to climbing the actual Victory Road path itself, but there were some areas that were open to the general public to explore—as long as they didn’t get caught by the roving guards who had the tendency to toss whoever trespassed in that “domain” out.
After climbing some of the naturally-hewn “steps” in the mountainside, he then came across a rocky clearing—now that he was here, he then pricked up his ears; listening for the slightest sound that signified that there was an incoming creature that wasn’t too happy that he’d trespassed on their territory. Right… let’s get looking… he thought to himself as he then walked forward, his hands on a particular ‘ball that he was itching to use in the meantime—he knew that Rymi needed some training up; and it was now time for him to showcase the new “moves” that he’d picked up while they were on their boat ride from Unova to Kalos! The best way to know if they work is to put them into practice… so here goes! He thought, following the scratching noise he’d picked up on, carefully sneaking up on it as best as he can in order to have the element of surprise.

Before he could proceed further, one of his PokeBalls suddenly burst forth in a flash of red light; and he could only wonder as to who—or what—had caused this to promptly happen. He then blinked and watched as the red light then transformed into his own Gallade—the very same one he’d been trying to teach new moves to. “Heh, out for a show, huh, Rymi?” he chuckled with a grin; and the Gallade then nodded solemnly—before quickly charging forward, ready to attack! He could notice that the tension was palpable in the air, he almost tasted it—and the Spearow never knew what was coming. After quickly boosting his own attack power with Swords Dance, the right fist of the Gallade was suddenly crackling with electric energy—and came in veering up close and personal for a Thunder Punch, courtesy of yours truly!
Kouji could only blink and stare as the Gallade had seemingly decided to take matters into his own hands—now that the Spearow had been angered somewhat, it then quickly boosted its own natural flighty speed by way of Agility; before quickly taking to the skies—and then suddenly crashing down, its own body rotating like a spinning drill as the beak came in up-close and personal for a Drill Peck counter! The Gallade then blinked at the sudden bullet-like speed of the Spearow—guess it was also mad at how he’d been jumped; and right before the Drill Peck could hit, it had rammed itself up against a protective screen—for one of the Gallade’s eyes were glinting; a sign that it had thrown up an invisible screen via Protect! Now that the Flying-type was stunned silent, the Gallade then countered again—this time with its left fist crackling—and another Thunder Punch sent the creature flying; squawking in anger! The ash-haired young man could only blink at the Gallade’s sudden ferocity—what had set him off…?
The Spearow had landed again on the ground; and was seemingly doing something, concentrating—and the scuffle marks that were starting to cover it were slowly but surely erased, a sign that it was healing! “Rymi! Do it! Finish it!” he shouted, watching as the Gallade then closed the distance again with a few hops and boosts; before this time unleashing a close-quarters Night Slash on the unsuspecting bird! The Spearow then let out another agitated squawk as it got hit; but quickly countered again, this time by using Fury Attack! As the first few hits began hammering away at the Gallade, he then watched as Rymi then seemingly took the brunt of the hit—only to lash out just as it was finished pummeling the taller, faster ‘mon by way of assaulting it from all sides—with another instance of Thunder Punch! As the Flying-type then sailed up into the sky, before falling back on the ground, defeated and passed out, Kouji decided to try and barter for his benefactor’s own female Spearow with this one—and promptly chucked an empty containment unit right at it.

As the containment unit went off with a loud “ding”, he looked up—at approximately the same time as the Gallade; and knew that they’d managed to catch the tenacious fighter of a bird ‘mon they’d come across! Breathing a sigh of relief, he then bent over to pick up the occupied containment unit—when a squawking noise so loud echoed throughout the clearing—it almost made him lose his balance! “Gallade,” he heard his companion mutter, quickly dashing off to investigate the source of the noise—and he was left to pluck up the occupied unit and then examine it for a few moments, before watching it disappear as it was sent all the way back to the Unova region to roam free. Now… where did that ugly noise come from… he thought as he looked up and stuck a finger into his left ear, trying to unblock the sudden weird sensation that had popped due to the squawking noise. Once he’d noticed what had made the earlier noise, his eyebrows shot up so high, they almost vanished into his hairline!
There was a metallic bird squawking its head off, not knowing that it was already using its Metal Sound status-reduction technique (but he had no idea about this) and could only blink as the Gallade was apparently being forced into a corner—because right after making the screeching noise reverberate throughout the clearing, it would veer in close and then execute a familiar-looking attack! Shit, how does that sword bird know Night Slash?! He thought in a panic as he quickly fished out his Gallade’s PokeBall and recalled Rymista—even if he didn’t want to go back and still wanted to fight! “Time to bring out the equalizer…” he muttered as he quickly tossed up another PokeBall and then watched as Liekki, his Magcrgo appeared from the flash of red light. “Alright, Liekki, go get that bird. I know someone who’d want it so bad… do as you must,” he muttered as he watched the Lava Snail inch forward—before suddenly releasing a cloud of noxious purple gas!
The Skarmory, in retaliation—closed its distance via Agility—but didn’t realize that the purplish smoke that the Magcargo was emitting was its Smog attack, which had a chance to poison—and as he closed the distance and bore back in order to be able to unleash another Night Slash—the sword bird had inhaled the fumes—and it began to feel funny. As the Ska continued into the Night Slash attack, the Magcargo then concentrated—before watching a plume of lava suddenly erupt from the ground; bathing it in boiling magma! He then heard a pained squawk; before the Ska retaliated with Metal Sound once more—and got another Lava Plume full in the face. As the Magcargo continued to circle around the sword bird who was still trying to fight back, the two then continued to stare—before suddenly rushing at each other so quickly, Kouji couldn’t even blink!
The Ska then decided to go on the defensive and used Air Slash; backing away several feet before flapping its heavy wings and unleashing two blades of crossed air energy right at the Magcargo—who then proceeded to counter with Ancient Power—and he could only watch as the rocks were suddenly circling around the Ska, before closing in on the bird; who then squawked again out of surprise as the attack connected! The Ska continued to circle around—before suddenly coming to a crash, looking a bit pale and unwell—the Smog had taken effect and its secondary effect of poisoning had activated! “Finish it!” he shouted, watching as the Lava Snail then conjured another blast of Lava Plume; if but to keep the Ska grounded—allowing him enough time to dash forward and toss another empty containment unit right at the Poisoned / now potentially Burned Skarmory.

As the tossed containment unit shook once, then twice—and when it had stopped twitching, he then threw both his arms up out of celebration—because he’d succeeded in catching the weird, sword-feathered bird! As he was about to walk over and pick it up to examine the captured Skarmory in it for a while—the shuffling noise he heard behind him made him stop halfway towards the containment unit. He then sighed as he quickly recalled the Magcargo—before realizing that the next thing that had appeared was apparently one of the few Fighting-types that he was truly interested in. “Looks like this is going to be a very interesting trip…” he muttered to himself, plucking out the Safari Ball with him and then sending out, for the very first time, the Aerodactyl that Josh had delivered to him as payment for the huge order of eggs that he’d asked for! Alright… time to get serious… he thought, before whistling in Myrsky’s direction—otherwise known as Sky.
“Hey, Sky! Look at that blue-and-white thing! Can you beat it into submission for me?” he asked the Aero, to which he watched the prehistoric ‘mon flap his wings out and give a terrifying, bone-chilling roar. Whoa. Looks like he’s got some issues… he thought to himself with this look of concern on his face—as before he could even issue a single order, the Aero had already gone charging at the small, meditating, blue-and-white thing! Over at where the Meditite was apparently doing nothing—it had actually gone into a meditative state; using one of its known skills to boost its Attack stat—before it stood up and lashed out with just a single palm! Of course, the Medi has used Force Palm—but instead of hitting the incoming Aero, it had smacked nothing but air—and then whipped around before realizing that it had been snatched up in the Aeros’ claws! Back on the ground, Kouji could only blink as the Aero had decided to take things in its own hands—and was now in the middle of its Sky Drop attack—when he remembered what Josh had told the assistant regarding this Aerodactyl.
Looks like we got a real predator here… he thought as the Fossil ‘mon then suddenly took a nosedive, still clutching the Meditite in its talons, before pulling out of the nosedive mere seconds before dropping the unfortunate Meditite, crashing head-first into the ground. As the blue-and-white creature pulled himself up in order to be able to retaliate, the Aero suddenly flapped its wings as fast and as hard as it could—before suddenly veering in close and smacking the Medi up the side of its head via Wing Attack! As the Medi landed again, this time on his rear-side, he then held his ground before waiting for the Aero to veer in close again—and this time, saw an opening! As the Medi launched Force Palm at the Aero that was screaming in from above, the Sky Drop sneak-attack had been cancelled due to Aero being taken by surprise. As if to follow up, the Medi then entered another meditative state, raising his attack power—and waiting to deliver another series of Force Palm attacks—yet the Aero was smarter, choosing to wait for the Medi to strike at thin air before swooping in and delivering the hurt via Sky Drop.
As Kouji massaged his forehead (and began thinking to himself on just how violent the Aerodactyl was) he then saw a blur pass by him; before seeing a lump at his feet. Upon closer inspection—it was the Meditite. “Geez, Sky, did you kill it?” he asked, before quickly pulling out another empty containment unit and then tapping it on the Medi’s head.

After he’d tapped the Medi’s head with the empty containment unit, he then blinked and let it fall to the ground, where he observed it shaking once; then twice. On the third time it stopped rocking before going off with that distinctive “ding” noise—signifying that the Medi had given itself over to the containment unit! “Boy, oh boy. This is going to be interesting, indeed…” he said with a grin as he then watched the unit vanish into thin air—he could only guess that it had already been sent to his Ranch, where he’d be surprised to find a pink, round, Chansey treating all of the new arrivals to the place. “Now that I’m almost…” he trailed off; looking at Sky curiously before he let out another loud Roar that echoed through the area—which then scared off an incoming little red-and-yellow creature that was apparently hopping around, trying to grab his attention.
“Well, Sky. At least you’re handy for scaring away some of the weaker ones. C’mon, let’s keep searching… and we got to work on your temper! I know you’re a good creature deep inside; but for now… yeah, we have to learn how to control your anger issues…” he trailed off with another sheepish grin as the Aerodactyl let out another loud, echoing Roar that reverberated throughout the area. “We still haven’t found the one we need… so let’s keep looking…” he muttered as he squared his shoulders and then whistled for the Aero to follow him—and the prehistoric ‘mon then took off and flew into the sky; intending to follow him from above.
