It had been some time since Kouji had seen Angel, and he was really itching to see the myriad of pictures that she’d taken on her journey so far. He could only imagine the surprise on her face if she found out that he was in occasional contact with Izumi when it came to stocking up his Ranch, among other things. But that would be a story for another day; and since he’d decided to take a little time off from the Ranch renovations—now that he’d gotten his actual “certification” and was allowed to breed three times in a week, he decided to give the entire ranch a make-over while he was at it—he’d found himself further north of Lumiose. Hey, it was better late than never right? He’d seen the fliers being distributed all over the region and decided to check out the Haunted Wood Walk—but apparently he couldn’t just go in alone, he needed to go with someone.
I think I know who to call… he thought with a grin as he then took out his mobile number and dialed a certain number; before reaching voice mail. After he’d left a message along with where to find him, he then began to casually look around, trying to take in the orange-and-black trappings that Laverre had apparently splurged on; he was lingering somewhere near the table where there were flashlights, all lined up and ready for the taking. Since nobody was around—but there was a sign that said “Take one Flashlight for the Haunted Wood Walk” he decided to grab the nearest one he could reach, and began spinning it around his hands. He also realized that there was going to be a limit of two ‘mons per person—and he’d forgotten to tell Angel about it. “Oops,” he said, quickly reaching for his phone again and then leaving her another message so that she’d be aware of the little “restriction” that the event had placed on all participants.
Who am I going to bring along… well, definitely Rymi’s going to be one… who’s the other… oh, I know… he thought, quickly wandering over to another table where other participants had apparently left their other ‘mons with this shady-looking individual who was manning boxes containing PokeBalls of all weird designs and assortment. After grabbing a box and labeling it with his name, he then dropped the other four in; leaving him with a Gallade and a Magcargo.
Having getting word of it before, Angel Dalton had left the extra Pokemon that she couldn't take at the Pokemon Center before, and was now hustling over to the place she had arranged to meet Kouji.
And oh was she so excited. She was practically skipping with every step, and why shouldn't she be? She was going to have some fun time with the first friend she had made on her friendship journey.. and it was a fun holiday time. Angel had oodles of fond memories of this time of the year in her long 10 years of life. A time of sugary treats and dress-up.. wasn't that pretty much her favorite things in the whole wide world?
And so she arrived at the meeting place after her , dressed in costume.. a cute sort of princess-like dress, although princess dresses for her age were getting hard to find. Still, she really liked this dress. Although the night air was a bit cold, she wished the skirt was a bit longer. Before she could wear fluffy sweat pants under the long skirts from before, costumes she was wearing now where harder to add layers to without losing the look.
Such thoughts melted away when she saw her friend though, excited. She ran up for a hug, looking extremely cheerful. "Kouji!" she cried, smiling. "I brought Ribbon and Wonder Bird! Hi! This is going to be so much fun! I missed you!" although she had been working on her fast talking, being around Kouji sure reminded of her when she first started.
She was ready to take on the Haunted walk.. she.. she totally was. She totally wasn't scared.. she wasn't a little kid anymore!
She brought her Mandibuzz and her Gothorita! I hope this post was okay..

Since it was Halloween after all, he’d decided to get with the theme—almost everyone he’d noticed was walking around in costumes and the like. Normally, he didn’t like dressing up in flashy attire—but just for the heck of it, he’d managed to find something that fit him—now he looked like a college student, complete with his own pair of reading glasses (which he normally never wore; unless it was time to get the books and paperwork for the Ranch fixed together and he’d have to squint at the small figures that his assistant loved to scribble in) and a blue necktie. As always, he’d left his hair in the usual mess that he’d always had it in; and was just about ready to fidget with the flash light—when a familiar voice caught his attention! He’d turned around just in time to see Angel literally launch herself right at him, squealing in delight—and boy was he surprised!
Thankfully, he’d reacted to the leaping and had caught her before quickly wrapping his own arms around her in a hug, laughing all the while. “Gosh, it’s been a long time since I saw you! What’cha been up to?” he asked, after swinging her around for a few seconds and finally setting her back down on the ground. “Is it just me… or did you grow taller?” he asked her, finally sizing her up—she’d definitely gained a few inches in height; from the last time he’d seen her. “So you’ve been traveling around a lot lately huh?” he continued, before spinning the flashlight around and then handing it to her. “You hang on to the flashlight. Shake it a few times if you have to. I have fire on my side… so, are you ready to take on the maze?” he asked with a very huge grin on his face. As always, he had his camera slung around his neck; and he could only wonder if the flash of the thing would be enough to scare away the baddies waiting for them inside—never mind that he’d already set his camera to “night mode” just in case he saw something interesting within the maze’s walls!

let's go into the maze then? Feel free to summon a roll after your next post; I'll keep track of our location with a map. @angel
Angel beamed happily back on her spot on the ground, proud for the human act of growing slightly. Hey, there was much sillier things to be proud of! She giggled at the feeling of becoming more womanly in someone's eyes, then nodded at his comments. "Yeah! Been traveling around a lot! This place is so new! Do you like my outfit? Am I talking too much?" she said, shifting as she spoke from just excitement at sharing information, a look on her face of a child fishing for compliments still stuck in the world where they are the center of the universe, and then finally recongizing that there was other people embarrassed at shifting so quickly back into her childish habit of talking too much.
She had to admit though, even with all her traveling and so much of the world she had seen.. Kalos was so pretty though! The time spent here had been making her heart feel fluttery.
The nodding continued, as she pretty much was totally on board with everything that kept mentioning. "Okay! I can do it!" she hadn't actually thought of what Pokemon would be useful for this little adventure, unlike possibly Kouji, instead.. it probably wasn't the smartest idea to play favorites but when she thought of only taking two Pokemon she just naturally thought that Wonder Bird and Ribbon were the ones to take. This was a natural habit built from time spent growing up together, not anything against the rest of her Pokemon friends.
She did slightly pout at the flashlight in her hands. Why was it dying though? Shouldn't they have put a bunch of new batteries in it? Maybe they had and they had just gotten here late.. it didn't feel super late. It wasn't past her bedtime.. not that she had a bedtime anymore. Nope!
"I'm so excited, it'll be.. really fun!" she said, actually feeling jittery. She didn't think this sort of thing excited her, but it kinda did. It was just fun right? There wasn't actually any scary monsters in there that wanted to feat on princesses.. right? No.. there was totally no way there was.
So the bravehearted Angel lead the way, shining the dying light forward to guide their path into the maze. She was sure tehy would get through it easily!

He then grinned as Angel took the lead, shaking the flash light as best as she could—and then decided to have his Magcargo go after her; so that he took up the rear with his Gallade just in case anything went too out of hand. The moment they’d stepped into the darkness, though, he noticed that something was amiss—why was his Magcargo’s flames burning at a dimmed level of brightness? He then scratched his head and then called out first to Angel, “Don’t go too fast, okay? I know you’re excited and all; but whatever you do, don’t go too far ahead—and don’t lose the flashlight, it’s the only one we got!” before looking down at Liekki and wondering what was causing her flames to burn at a weaker rate as compared to how they normally bubbled as bright as fresh magma found underneath the earth. He then squatted down for a few moments, before looking at the Lava Pokémon and then asking her, “Liekki, what’s the matter? Why isn’t your flame burning bright…?”
The Magcargo could only look up at him out of bewilderment—her master was right; why were her flames burning at a weaker level than they normally could? He then watched with a worried look on his face as she then tried to burn as brightly as she could manage—but there was apparently something else that was causing the phenomenon to happen. After watching the futility in practice, he then reassured the Magcargo, “Well, just keep trying, but don’t overexert yourself, okay?” he continued in a soothing voice, before standing up and then nodding in the Gallade’s direction and continuing to walk. Little did he realize, however, that he had walked right into a trap! His hand then brushed the wall—if one could call it a wall—and thought he felt…something slide by him; but apparently it was a very startled (not to mention extremely angry) Pumpkaboo that had retaliated and had used Trick or Treat on him without warning!
He felt… funny, at first. Why did he suddenly feel a lot lighter than normal? It was his Gallade; Rymista, which had noticed the sudden change that had overcome his master—instead of being solid flesh and blood, he had become semi-transparent and didn’t have visible feet! He then looked down at his hands—and promptly freaked out. Why were they all… whitish and pale?! “A…An… Angel…” he began uncertainly; shocked at how… distant his voice had sounded. Thankfully, his Gallade still had some vestige of its Psychic powers remaining, and had quickly darted forward before gently tapping the younger girl on the shoulder, and then raising one of his “arms” and then pointed back at where Kouji... was now nothing but a semi-transparent being that hummed with a faint silverish aura surrounding him. “Gallade. Ga! Gallade!” he heard Rymista cry off, seemingly from a great distance.
Although Angel had stopped rushing ahead, stopping had started to set her heart beating quickly. Not rushing straightforward into this situation brought out the fear of it, the tension that one felt waiting for the jumpscare.. but not knowing where it would come from. Her eyes scanned as much as she could see with the flashlight, only vaguely recognizing that Kouji was talking to his Macarago as she shook her flashlight about in the dark. Said darkness was very nerve wracking, and walls seemed to surround them. It was enough to make a princess nervous, and crave the comfort of the candy she had left at the entrance.
No though, she could get through this.. she had to prove that she was brave for Kouji!
Feeling a strange sense of movement behind her, she glanced backwards when she heard Kouji call her name. "Y-Yes.. isn't this..this place is kinda spooky is.." and then she was broken off. A gasping sound as she didn't get the closest of looks.. she would have noticed her friend had she been paying attention.. but instead she just saw the quick glance of something that sent powerful amounts of fear through her. "A-A g-g-ghost!?" Operation Brave Angel started to crumble as she squealed whilst running quickly in the other direction her little lungs bursting out loudly, "Kouji! Save me!!" still not noticing the obvious that Kouji was the ghost she was now running from, refusing to look back which would have helped her confirm this. Instead she started once again to rush off without Kouji, if anything with more purpose now that she was running away from a spooky creature of the night. Halloween was way too scary! She missed when it was all about trick or treating and dressing up like a princess!

He was surprised—instead of approaching him, why the hell was Angel running away from him?! He could only blink in surprise as he then called out, “Rymi! Keep up with her! I’ll follow you in a few!” with the same distant-sounding voice. He could only wonder—what had made him turn out that way?! As he then thought of running, he then felt his own legs suddenly…hitting the ground. What was happening? The more he moved forward—in a vain attempt to catch up with Angel—the more he realized that he was becoming…solid again. Not just solid, he could hear his own ragged breathing, feel the pounding of his own heart from within his chest; and as he stopped to call out, “Angel? Angel?! Hey, where are you?!” he then realized—he was alive again!
Whatever that weird thing was… I swear, it’s not funny… he thought crossly as he then shook his head in order to clear it of the funny cobwebs—and then looked down; his Magcargo was still slithering beside him! “Heh, thanks for staying with me… now… where are they?!” he muttered, scratching his head in confusion as he then looked around—why had it gotten darker all of a sudden? He then looked up after he’d caught his breath and then cupped a hand to his mouth, before shouting again, “Ange? Angel? Hey, where are you?” while slowly walking forward, looking around in the dark areas as best as he could with the flickering, faint light that the Magcargo was emitting from his side. “Rymi? Angel?!” he continued, walking forward—not realizing that he was about to bump into her…!
Angel's going to shift back into trying to be brave mode soon. I know it.
"Please.. come on.. please.." the frightened girl was shaking the flashlight like mad, the flashlight that had stopped working for some reason. Had the batteries run out? Why now? She was already extremely lost, bumping into the wall whenever she tried to move. Her heart was beating so fast.. so fast.. there was a ghost. Right? She had seen it.. right?
A more sensible part of her brain did exist, trying to comfort her with the thought that it was just a haunted house. Trying to tell her it was just some effect.. but it had seemed so real. It seemed so.. real. She could feel it just.. floating there. "Kouji.. did the ghost get you?" her teeth were chattering. She felt for certain she was next, she had to be.. that was why the flashlight broke.
Then she felt it, something bump into her. She shrieked loudly into the night, holding back nothing as he scream pierced the night. Then she.. she turned around and saw Macarago again, the light was so faint but it was there. That voice.. it was.. "Kouji!" she whimpered, turning around, looking like a cornered animal. "It's you.. are you okay? Did the ghost get you? We need to hurry! It's probably right behind you!" she said, grabbing his arm and trying and failing to pull his frame.
You go 5 spaces . . . only to find the path blocked. Looks like you'll have to find a alternate path . . . but when you do you end up where you were before. And your flashlight will be out an additional 3 posts.

How was he going to explain to her that he was the ghost that she’d encountered earlier? He could only scratch his head and look around sheepishly—before deciding to go with the truth.“Well, would you believe me… if I told you that I was the ghost?” he began, looking quite exasperated—if this was a comedy moment from a favored series, the back of Kouji’s head would have one huge sweat drop hanging from it right now. “Look… it really is me,” he said, gently reaching for her other hand and taking it within his. Her grip felt icy-cold, for some reason, while his was still warm—a possible after-effect of suddenly being returned to life. “In any case… I’m here. Don’t run off like that again, okay?” he continued, watching as a shape looming in the shadows stepped forward—and he breathed a sigh of relief as he saw his Gallade return; apparently having scouted ahead. With a silent nod and a point, Rymi then pointed forward; before assuming the position of point.
“Well… don’t go off like that again, okay? We have to stay together. Who knows what’s going to happen…” he trailed off, walking forward, making sure to stay by her side. This time, it was the Magcargo that had taken up the rearguard position—maybe he should reverse Liekki and Rymi’s current positions…? He then looked around and saw that the flash light was sputtering in her hands; and no matter how hard she shook the thing, it didn’t want to stay lit. “Just stick with me. No ghost will dare approach us. I’m here to protect you, okay?” he continued in his reassuring voice as he then walked forward; before he blinked and saw that the path ahead was…blocked.“What… oh, seriously?” he muttered, resisting the urge to smack a palm to his forehead. He then whistled at his Gallade—and then by communicating via a series of stares and gestures, he had managed the two to switch positions—since they needed his Magcargo’s light more up front.
As the two then switched positions, he then saw his Magcargo inch forward—and then squinted as best as he could; before continuing… “Hey… look, there’s another path. Let’s take this one…” he trailed off, before deciding to let his Magcargo take the lead, its feeble flame lighting up the narrow passageway. After squeezing through the area… he then shook his head; before hissing a few curse words under his breath. “Ah, great. We’re right back where we started…” he groaned, before pointing down at the ground, and since the Maggy was closer, inched forward to reveal—by way of the feeble flames—that their foot prints from earlier were still there.
Uhoh. Some little romance obsessed 10 year old might be developing a crush on a cutie.
"Don't scare me like that Kouji!" Angel cried out with a pouty but embarrassed look on her face, obviously taking his confession in a different way then he intended. Instead of assuming that Kouji had literally becoming a ghost, telling the truth had caused her to assume he was playing some kind of joke on her. He HAD invited her to a haunted house after all!
But then he was so sweet.. "I'll.. I'll stay close though, promise." She hadn't even brought out her Pokemon. Wasn't that what they were for? Although with it as dark as it was, it was doubtful that either of them would be so helpful right now. Well.. Ribbon might honestly be helpful. A Psychic Pokemon should be able to.. feel out things shouldn't they? But getting Ribbon to not be a prissy baby herself, was the battle to that one.
"We're all the way back! How did that happen!?" This was surprising! She didn't even know how that worked! They.. didn't go backwards, she didn't remember that. They went left and then they were back! So confusing! This place was silly.
Angel smiled.. laughing after the pause of thinking and they continued to try to find their way out. Occasionally she shook the flashlight, but it seems like they might have picked a bad one.. it really wasn't wanting to turn on. "It's sort of fun, I guess.." she said, not normally being the type to enjoy this kind of thing, but only really because she had never tried it. It was kinda nice.. with someone else here. Kouji was so nice.. protecting her.. playing with her.. taking her to places.. helping her out.. buying her things. He was really cool. Really... really cool.

“You remember the path that we were supposed to take earlier—but then there’s that sign that said that it was “closed” and we had to take the alternate route…? Who knew we’d end up right at the same spot where I caught up to you earlier,” he said, looking down at the tracks before touching them softly and confirming—that indeed, these were the same tracks they’d left earlier. What had led them to take such a roundabout trip in the maze? He could only shake his head as he continued to walk forward—before he thought he heard a weird noise floating in the air over them. “Stop…” he hissed, holding out a hand in order to halt her from going forward; he then strained his ears in order to be able to listen to the noise that was wafting out over them right at this very moment. It was faint, at first, but the more they walked forward, the closer the sound got… it sounded like those weird, Gregorian-like things he’d hear coming from the television whenever something that had horror in it was playing.
“…der…der…shellder…”
Wait, isn’t that supposed to be a normal Shellder’s…? he thought to himself as he decided to walk forward a few steps in order to be able to investigate the source of the noise… and almost yelping and falling over backwards as he came upon… something that was not quite like a Shellder; it was yellow and had green spots all over it; and from the looks of things… it was hungry. “Oh…shit,” he hissed, more to himself—he didn’t want Angel to hear his sudden exclamation of shock; but he then walked backwards ever so slowly… before crouching down and then whispering to her, “Whatever it was you heard, you didn’t hear anything… also, I’m sorry if I’m going to have to do this…” he trailed off, before quickly scooping her up in his arms—never mind if she’d be squealing or not—and then whistled as loudly as he can in his Gallade’s direction, who then sprung into action, zooming forward and powering himself up with Swords Dance!
“We gotta run…” he said as quietly as he could, before breaking out into another adrenaline-pumped sprint, carrying her! Maybe it was some stroke of good luck she didn’t have her own companions out at the present time; because he could now hear the sounds of battle erupting as he ran past the Gallade, who was now facing off against this weird-looking yellow and green-spotted Shellder “freak”.
