Now that he’d dropped off the crown, he decided to go to a different spot and try his luck—he knew that his Krookodile was keen enough to hear his whistling—even if he wasn’t at the same place where he’d left the Desert Croc. His pocket was slightly heavier now because of the exchange he’d sent the weird rock crown in for—who knew they were worth quite the mint? He then grinned before hiking around, trying to spot out another spot where it wouldn’t be too disappointing in order to be able to continue his search. After wandering around for some distance, he then saw that he was at a deserted, undesecrated spot—and knew that this was as good as any.
Hoping that his Krookodile would be okay even without him, he then stuck the shovel into the dirt, and began to dig… As for the Krookodile, his sense of smell was so sharp; he knew that his master had decided to go further away from the original spot where he was digging. It was alright with him, though—the more distance they had between themselves, the more chances they had in order to be able to find the thing that they were both looking for—one of those weird, shiny rocks that sparkled and glittered in the light of the late afternoon sun. now the problem was actually stumbling on one…

The Krookodile could tell that his master had gone off to another area to search; and he just shrugged; because it was apparently better for them to split up in order to be able to cover more ground. Now that he was digging at a steady pace, he continued to shove aside chunks and bits of earth—when his snout bumped hard against something that he wasn’t expecting to come across, even underground! As he then swished his tail in order to be able to wedge it free from the bedrock he was digging through, he then heard a cracking noise; to which he just… shook his head. He knew that his ashen-haired master was not looking for stuff like this; the ones that were so volatile they would just break if hit too hard.
Snorting, he then continued to paw through the bedrock, always keeping an eye out for anything that was shining, shimmering, splendid and round.
Back topside, Kouji wasn’t having too much luck either—because he hadn’t seen anything yet that looked like a marble; and he could only guess as to what his Krookodile was up to underground—wherever he could be. He then wondered and could only scratch his head—was the place really living up to its name and reputation now? Sighing once more, he then stopped to take a break, stabbing the shovel into the ground and then reaching for one of the several water canteens he’d brought along with him. He then took a deep and long drink from the container, and then once he felt that he was hydrated enough, he then returned it to its original place and continued digging…

Kouji could only guess as to how his Krookodile was faring while digging underground; because as of this moment he hadn’t found anything that was of interest yet. He continued to sigh as he shunted dirt off to one side—and as his shovel stabbed the ground again, he heard a resounding noise from the point where he’d apparently hit something. The something he’d hit, thankfully, was not one of those weird “Relic” items—it looked… vaguely familiar. A few seconds later, it then hit him as to what the thing he’d found was; it was a King’s Rock, and… he knew that they were very much available easily in the Kalos region.
Sighing, he then left the spot where he’d found the King’s Rock—even if he knew that Alistair could make use of it. Yeah, right… he thought with a dismissive look; knowing that Alistair was more of the “slow in the head” kind; and preferred to stay as he was. He then moved to another spot in order to be able to continue trying his luck. As for the Krookodile, he’d tunneled forward and was now approximately within the same diameter of area where his master was digging at the moment. Sighing—as the Desert Croc hadn’t found anything yet, he continued to dig underground, inching slowly but surely towards the place where he could pick up the faint sound of the shovel scraping the ground where his master was digging.

Once Kouji had moved to another spot, he then continued to dig over where he was, completely and totally oblivious to the fact that he had stumbled into the “Relic” territory, he continued to whistle; as if ignoring all the signs that the heavens were throwing his way—he’d better get out of the area where he was now! He could only guess as to how his Krookodile was doing; and after zooming out the camera panning around the Badlands, we find ourselves underground, on the tail of a Krookodile that looked like he was totally and completely enjoying himself. He felt his snout brush against something—thankfully it didn’t hit the actual thing he’d scented—and he then continued to displace the dirt that he’d been working on. Once he’d managed to remove enough dirt—the Krookodile squinted into the darkness and saw the rough lines of… a vase, or was it a statue…?
Snorting impatiently, the Krookodile then hefted it up in his arms, before tossing it to one side—where it shattered. He then snorted again before continuing to dig. Back topside, Kouji was having the inkling that the spot where he was at wasn’t going to be a good idea, so he decided to switch spots, walking further out—the farthest he’d gone into the Badlands as of date. To be honest, the place looked the same no matter where he looked, so it was quite disorienting as well—he had no idea if he’d already been here before or not. Shrugging as he continued to look for a spot in order to be able to keep searching for those elusive marbles—he’d heard lots of shouts of dismay echoing in the distance; meaning that it wasn’t exactly a good time to search in the area where they were at. Now that he’d found a nice, isolated, deserted spot, he then stabbed the shovel into the ground, and continued to dig…

At least Kouji’s time in the Badlands wouldn’t have to end on a sour note—because right at this moment, he’d caught sight of a blue piece of rock wedged in the clod of dirt he was working on excavating at the moment. Knowing right away that the blue rock was definitely unusual; he then took great care to unearth just the ground around it; before finally bringing to light a blue piece that had what looked like a pointed feather seemingly wedged into it. “Hmm…” he mused to himself, quickly taking out his mobile phone and snapping a few quick pictures, before scrolling through the other picture files he had—and saw that just like the three other pieces of unusually-colored rock that seemingly had different bits and pieces seemingly stuck into the piece itself, he could only take a guess that it was also a fossil. And it was wedged into a piece of blue rock at that. “Alright, looks like this didn’t end too badly for me, at least. I got another fossil to add to my… collection,” he said sheepishly, as he then brought two fingers up to his mouth and then gave a sharp, shrill whistle.
He was wondering if his Krookodile would even manage to hear his whistling call; since he was so far underground—he then reached for his backpack and then found a few sheets of old newsprint wedged in-between the water flasks and the sandwiches. After bringing the sheets of paper out, he then slipped on his working gloves and slowly but surely brushed away as much dirt as he could; before spreading out a couple of sheets of newsprint paper. Once he’d managed to clean out the blue piece of rock, he then gently nestled it on the paper, before wrapping it up like a package—and it was at this time there was a shadow leering over him; he already knew that his “digging partner” was standing over him. “Oh, hey Hiekka,” he began, standing up carefully so that he didn’t end up hitting the Desert Croc. “Look at what I found. Still better than those statue-like items, eh?” he said, to which the Krookodile gave a little huff, before nodding.
“C’mon, let’s get out of here. I still got to fix up the Ranch… now that I got word from our assistant, looks like our renovation will go at full speed now,” he ended with a grin, the wrapped Fossil tucked under his arm; Krookodile walking by his side.
