Izumi knew the air was getting pretty heavy, but he didn’t have to worry, because she was there at least. “If you need to cry, let it all out… trust me. Keeping it all bottled in isn’t going to help matters at the very least. I’ve gone through that before and it’s nasty. You just need to let it all out…” she continued, still rubbing his back. The ring of Pokémon that had been silently watching them suddenly came in much closer; led by Inferno. She knew that most of the Pokémon that had gathered were his, and with her free hand, she then waved them forward—and soon, there was quite a flock of Pokemon that had now gathered around them; Inferno having suddenly hugged one of Josh’s legs. The others were now, quite honestly, jostling for “elbow room”—the better to hug their Trainer! “Heh, look down and see. You’re not alone…” she trailed off, secretly winking in Inferno’s direction; to which he gave a nod.
She then continued to rub his back in a soothing manner; until she then hit on an idea—it was a farfetched one, but it had some merits. “I… I have a suggestion. Does your dad have any Pokémon here? Like, any of them belong to him? Because… why not have them look for him? I’m sure they can find their way home… or at least find you; or your mother and then… yeah. Crap, we actually need a Psychic-type that can talk in order for this to happen… or at least someone who can understand and translate their language so we know what they’re saying…” she trailed off, before smacking her free hand to her forehead. It’s a crazy idea but it’s the best shot we’ve got at the moment. Otherwise, I’m all out of ideas. I was going to suggest having a search party of friends to look for him, but then I remembered… it’s just him and his folks who made it all the way here… she thought to herself as she then tried to rack her brains for any other possible ideas.

Josh couldn't help but sniffle as the Pokemon and Izumi crowded him... He was glad, glad that someone actually cared about him, and was willing to pick him up when he was down. He looked around at the Pokemon, led by Inferno. He sighed. "Thank you..." he said quietly, before looking back at Izumi. "And thank you..." he said, taking a breath.
At her suggestion, he shook his head. "No..." he whispered. "We tried. He has Pokemon here, but... They weren't able to find him. Mom has tried and tried, relentlessly. There is absolutely no sign of him. No trace. His Pokemon can't think up his scent, any Pokemon here have no means to locate him. He's just... Disappeared. It's weird. We've had no communication from him for about 6 months now. He just disappeared off the face of the earth"
"And yeah... There are no friends... Just customers. And those customers wouldn't care about his safety, just about their Pokemon. With mom taking care of them, what do they care? That's life..." he whispered. "That's life..."

“Crap,” she hissed, realizing that they’d already tried to look for him, but with little results. “So you already tried to no avail, huh?” she asked, still rubbing his back. She knew that there were options, but they were kind of far-fetched… “You already tried filing a missing-persons report, or something? I know it’s actually possible… other than that I’m out of ideas. If you were to go searching for him yourself, I don’t know what would happen. He might just be around here somewhere,” she added, racking her brains at this point. “It’s impossible for him to have just… died… because… trust me on this, you’d get this really bad feeling about something. I’ve read about it, but apparently that’s been debunked so many times, yet it always happens. Like…” she trailed off, trying to remember how it went—then stopping herself. “You know what, never mind. Forget I said the last few sentences or so,” she said abruptly, as she realized that she was inadvertently making it worse.
“Life sucks, but we all have to face it head-on and not back down. Look at it this way: you know the saying that behind every cloud there’s a silver lining? Everything doesn’t come easy. I know you told me what hell there was where you came from. You’ve survived that. You can get through this. Trust me, you will. You and your mom will. Everything’s going to be alright, okay?” she continued with the same assertive voice she’d suddenly picked up on. “Heh, look at me. I saw a very important person get shot in front of my very eyes; I don’t know who exactly did it—I’m still searching for that person—and that sent me into a tailspin. Now… I think… I found a reason to keep on going,” she ended, feeling her ears burn red at this point—and at that moment, her rational mind kicked in, making the brakes grind to a halt. Whoa, girl. Calm the hell down. Watch what you’re saying! Erk! You don’t want to get tangled up again in another… stahp. She thought to herself, trying to struggle with what she wanted to say.

He nodded sadly. "Aye... We've tried..." he repeated, looking down. "We've tried, no avail, no dice... No trace. Nobody knows where he's gone, and it sucks. Mom's hurting, I'm hurting, even the Pokemon are hurting. He's a big part of their lives just like me and mom are, and it hurts them as much as it hurts mom and me" he said quietly.
At mention of the possibility of his death, he bit his lip and looked down. Izumi had meant the opposite, but that brought the idea of him just plain dying into his mind... That would certainly explain a lot... "Aye..." he said quietly, despite her changing the subject. He nodded along to her words, just listening quietly. She was right... She had been through a lot, and so had he... She had lost the most important person in her life. Josh wondered sometimes how Izumi would be able to cope with that... It was obvious they were more then friends...
She mentioned she had a reason to keep on going now though, and he tilted his head... What was she talking about, he wondered?

Suddenly realizing that she’d talked herself into a potentially awkward situation, she felt her ears burn red at that thought, before quickly saying, “I—it’s…” she began initially, suddenly backing away a few paces—and some of the other Pokémon that were gathered nearby were actually sniggering (mostly it was Inferno who was doing the snickering) before suddenly feeling her face flush a pale shade of pink. “A-ah… I mean, well, uhhm…” she trailed off, scratching the back of her head in an extremely sheepish manner; realizing that she’d inadvertently walked into a bit of a trap—and the actual person involved was right in front of her, looking at her like she’d lost her mind. “I…well…” she began once more, stammering as she tried to gather her thoughts and to steer away the topic from a potentially embarrassing confession…
Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around, the boy confessing to the girl? Why am I the one taking the lead in this?! She thought to herself, trying to calm down because her mind was whirling a mile a minute and she was getting extremely flustered at this point! “I—it’s… uhh…” she continued, hearing the snickering getting louder; and then she suddenly felt Inferno bump into her legs, pitching her forward right into Josh’s arms while still sniggering all the while; because apparently some of the Pokémon weren’t as dense as she thought they were. Some of her own Pokémon had begun to gather as well—her Gardevoir watching what was unfolding between her mistress and this individual that she’d already met several times before. Sure, he was no red-head, but then again… she felt her empathic senses twitch and then turned away, hiding the blush that had seemingly popped up on her own face as well! She had picked up on Izumi’s potential embarrassment and was apparently acting the same way too…

Josh noticed Izumi had gotten incredibly embarrassed, flustered even. She kept falling all over her own words... Puzzling, indeed. He could hear the other Pokemon sniggering, and while he pondered for a moment, he decided to leave it aside. They were all jolly in their own way, he supposed. Of course, Inferno he shot a look. He should know better, he was one of the more experienced of his Pokemon and was to set the example. Something shared by Pokemon like Lightning, Fawkes, Inferno, Vulcan, Ace, Cooper, Vector, Bastilo, Skelle, Charon and others.
Then one of his Pokemon had pushed her into his arms, to which he responded to by catching her instantly. Josh's Pokemon seemed to know exactly what was going on with Izumi, though Josh himself seemed a bit more oblivious to it. It was curious as to how a grown man couldn't seem to pick up right now Izumi's emotions, but perhaps it was the stresses of worrying about his father that was really keeping him distracted at the moment.

The Gardevoir was still unable to face the scene, because she was picking up on Izumi’s embarrassment and was experiencing it full-time; the other ‘mons who were in her care surrounded her and then began clamoring, wanting to know what was going on with her! She had fallen right into his arms, and then she was met with an extremely puzzled look on his face; asking if she was alright or something! The truth of the matter is, I’m not exactly okay! You know the feeling of getting all tongue-tied and then getting backed up into a potentially awkward situation?! That’s how I feel! Her thoughts were screeching; but of course there was no way she was going to tell him that! After letting the silence fall for a few moments, she then looked up and found herself staring right at his face—and her cheeks burned, before she quickly straightened up and said, “Eh, I’m alright. I just… got a case of the jitters,” she said with a sheepish look on her face, before scratching the back of her head in a completely and totally innocent manner.
Momo, on the other hand, looked up and let a sigh of relief once she’d seen that the awkward and embarrassing moment was over; and then exhaled—she didn’t realize that she’d been holding her breath! She then shot a look at the only Typhlosion present, as if they knew that something had just transpired, but Josh was too…oblivious to notice what had just happened. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me,” she added a few moments later, skating over the silence that had built up. Phew, potential disaster averted. Nope, definitely not. Now’s not the best time to drop the bomb… she thought as she then straightened up and squared her shoulders…before suddenly remembering that she’d also brought food for them to chow down on! “Oh, crap, I forgot! Along with the cake was some food for us… you… you want to eat it before the fries get cold?”she asked in a sheepish way, watching as the crowd of Pokémon were snickering in their direction; before slowly dispersing. “I gave the cake to your mother; the burger and fries are ours for the eating. Do you have some soda we can drink?” she continued, looking away and then just… trying to smooth over the situation!

He smirked a bit. While oblivious to what was going on, Josh was still curious as to what was ailing Izumi. He was sure he would figure it out in time, as this wouldn't be the last time he'd see the smellinator, not by a long shot. There would be many more meetings, many more opportunities to explore the psyche of this rather different individual. In time, he was sure he would figure out just what made Smelly Izumi tick. But for now, a subject change was in order, at least according to Izumi who would make mention of the food she had brought along.
"Hey, that sounds great" he said with a laugh. "Let's head back to the lab, I'm sure there's somewhere we can sit down and eat there" he added. He would look over at Lightning and smirk. "You wanna clear out the fight club ring we have going here, Lightning?" he asked, chuckling. "Pika!" he responded in affirmative. He would then turn to the other Pokemon. "Pika! Pika pika pika pika! Pika-Pi! Pika Pika! Pikachu!" He started speaking out, rallying instructions. He was like one of the leaders of the group of Pokemon it seemed, and even Josh was impressed with the leadership skills that Lightning had built up. Once the ring was gone, Josh would head back to the lab, likely with Izumi in toe.
