last shot for the shinies

Now that Kouji was on his last searching attempt, he knew he had to find something worthwhile; otherwise his extended stay in the Badlands would have been for nothing! Looking over his shoulders to check if the Krookodile and the Gallade were still behind him, he saw that only the Gallade was walking some distance behind him! Wondering where the Krookodile was, he looked around for a few seconds; but knew that going back to the dig site he left earlier would be a waste of time—that was, until he felt the earth trembling underneath his feet. He then burst out into laughter as he realized that his Krookodile was apparently following them… from underground. After chuckling for a few moments, he then looked at his Gallade, who was also confused by the sudden lack of a companion!
“Well Rymi, Hiekka is following us from underground, so at least when we get to our location, he can start digging right away,” he added with a chuckle—before continuing to walk; he could feel the ground trembling underneath his feet as he walked forward, and decided to go along with it—after around ten minutes of looking around, he finally found a spot; and set down his backpack. “You know what to do,” he said with a nod in the Gallade’s direction—before he watched said Gallade bow in his direction; to which he bowed in return—before watching him walk away to patrol the perimeter. “Alright,” he said, raising his voice a bit, before sticking the shovel in the dirt, “Time to dig…” and then proceeded to shove dirt out of the way. Underground, the Krookodile then veered off in a different direction from where he last heard his master’s footsteps, and started tunneling as well, looking for something that he could show Kouji, who was now digging topside!
Dig Dig Dig . . . What's this?! Congratulations, You've found RARE BONE ! A bone that is extremely valuable for Pokémon archeology. It can be sold for a high price to shops. ( Post a Mod Summons to exchange this for •15 )

It didn’t take too long for one of the two digging individuals to find something—and it was the Krookodile that had found the funny-looking bone, sticking out of the ground it was currently digging away at. By now, Hiekka was smart enough to know that it wasn’t what his master was looking for, so without a second thought, he then changed directions underground and began digging a new tunnel. He knew that he had to find something like one of those weird, shining “marbles” that whenever his master found one, this strange kind of “joy” would cross his features. “Kroo. Krookodile,” he muttered to himself before huffing, and then digging off in the new direction he had decided to search for treasure. Back topside, Kouji was now huffing and wheezing, because who knew that the day was going to be another scorcher? Shit, I didn’t pack enough water… he thought to himself as he came to a stop, leaning a bit over the shovel he’d stuck in the ground.
He’d brought enough food to go around for the three of them; however the water shortage was something he was not expecting; as he’d only brought along water for one short trip! He’d decided to go on an extended search, and it was apparently backfiring on him now as he then went over to the backpack and began pawing through the contents, dismayed to find that there was only one small flask of ice-cold water left for him and the two companions he had out at the moment. “Bleh, next time, bring a lot more water,” he muttered to himself, before tossing the small flask back in the depths and returning to his digging—he knew that this was the very last chance he was going to get in order to be able to search for something out here in the Badlands, true to its name and reputation.

The Krookodile was now just randomly tossing dirt aside as he continued to shuffle through the dirt; growling to himself as to why he hadn’t found anything that looked particularly fancy yet. Back topside, Kouji had stopped to take a break, and was now sharing a sandwich with the Gallade when he felt the heat rise in intensity—was there a heat wave right now ripping through Kalos that was causing the temperatures to soar to unbearable levels? “Next time, try coming here at nightfall so it’s not too hot…” he muttered to himself, shoving the last bite of his sandwich into his mouth and watching as his Gallade contemplated said sandwich and then, with a movement faster than his eye could follow, sliced up its own sandwich into bite-sized pieces and then began snacking on it! “Whoa. Nice form there,” he muttered in the Gallade’s direction; before standing up and picking up the shovel.
“Alright, time to get back to work,” he muttered to himself as he then saw a nice-looking patch of ground and stuck the tip of his digging apparatus in it; and then began shoveling pile after pile, after pile of grit off to one side. After what felt like a long non-stop shoveling thing, he felt like his arms were about to fall off from their joints when he caught sight of something… that looked like a rainbow. “Hey there, what’s this?” he asked out loud, plucking it up and out of the dirt and giving it a good polish to get rid of the grit that had stuck onto it. “Well, you certainly don’t look like any marble I’ve encountered so far…but in any case you look interesting,” he added with a chuckle; and looking over his shoulder, he saw that the Gallade was now staring at the thing he was holding in his hands. Knowing that he’d found something new, he then gave a loud, pronounced whistle—and then felt the ground trembling close to where he stood—and laughed out loud again as the Krookodile had decided to appear like a Diglett near where he was currently located!
“Head up, Hie. I found something interesting. We’re getting out of here. The heat’s getting to me…” he muttered, wiping his forehead down and then quickly recalling both ‘mons, before taking out the coin purse and dropping the rainbow-colored rock, hearing it clink against the two marbles he currently had in his possession.
