Title: Blizzard Drifts Claimed By: (weekly basis) Catching: No Members: 1 - 3 Rewards: •20, SB Description: The crazy weather around Snowbelle is acting up again! It's not just the cold air coming from the Gym that keeps the place in its "eternally frozen" state; but there are real, actual blizzards that blow through the area from time to time.
The mission starts on the morning right after the blizzard has come through the town; and most of the passable roads have been blocked off--save the route going to the city itself.
The objective: melt as much snow and clear up the town enough so that the people can get around and get warm!
Notes: A Fire-type Pokemon highly recommended for this mission! Mere snow shovels aren't enough to get rid of all the excess snow!
[8/13/2014 10:17:17 PM] Maelys Knight: You can pull someone else in to finish the mission, you'll get five extra dots for doing it
Since Maelys has left the site permanently, I will be restarting this mission with a new partner, which will be Izumi Yamamura.
"Gah, where the hell IS she?" Josh cursed to himself as he walked through the blizzard in one of the routes around Snowbelle City. He had been passing by to meet Izumi but had ended up taking a plea for help from one of the officials in Snowbelle. He had called Izumi Yamamura to inform her of the situation, and had agreed to help, but this was taking longer then expected. Izumi had promised to meet him out here and help out as soon as possible, but she was late, and he was freezing his ass off.
Behind him were his Cyndaquil, Inferno, his Charmeleon, Fawkes, and his Combusken, Vulcan. The three of them had been out with him trying to get rid of the snow that had piled up, but a blizzard had popped up as a result of the crazy weather, making their job a little more difficult. Hopefully, it would end soon, so he could meet up with Izumi and finish the job.

Izumi was most definitely not expecting their trip around the Kalos region to begin at the last town where she knew there were badges available—but how was she to argue; when Josh had called in and asked for her help in order to clear out Snowbelle City? “Urgh, right… got to switch out the team…” she muttered to herself, quickly dropping by the Pokémon Center in Couriway Town and switching out several members of her “Sandstorm” team for Agni, Arashi and mama Kaji—since Josh had informed her that they would be melting a whole load of snow and much firepower was needed! “Hoo boy, just to be on the safe side, I’m bringing Mau with me as well…” she muttered as she continued to switch around Pokeballs and finally decided on bringing Draken along as well. So far, she’d picked out the Magmar, both Typhlosion, as well as Flygon and Garchomp… now all she needed was… “Oops, can’t leave the place without someone who has psychic power…” before quickly shuffling around the storage and plucking out Momo’s… rather interesting Love Ball and chuckling before grabbing the shovel, as well as snow boots, and her winter gear before setting out from Couriway on foot.
They had met up in Lumiose earlier, but she told him to go on ahead, because there was some unfinished business she had to attend to in Shalour at least, before an unexpected detour in Coumarine had popped up at the last minute as well! Oh man, he’s going to kill me… she thought as she quickly changed into the heavy clothing while walking down the relatively short path, hopping on one foot, then the other as she kicked off her steel –toed boots before tying their laces together and slinging it on one of the loose straps of the backpack she was lugging round—that carried her extra change of clothing. She then slipped o the thick jacket, before tying and covering it up with a scarf; along with a pair of winter goggles that were now nestled atop her head. She’d changed into the thicker pants while she was at Couriway, so at least now… she was ready. She could feel the cold wind blowing even as she crossed the tall bridge… and then was shocked to see that the weather had changed from fall to winter; and there was a shivering, cowering individual that had three ‘mons with him… “Hey… HEY! Josh!” she shouted, cupping her hands over her mouth, trying to catch his attention. “Sorry I’m late!” she continued, quickly shuffling over and handing him an extra pair of gloves for his hands.
“So, what do we do now?” she asked, not feeling cold at all—because of several layers of clothing that she was wearing right now! “Is it just me or is everywhere just… snow?” she asked, quickly looking upwards and noticing that the drifts were quite high. “Shall we get started?” she continued; remembering that the rest of the contents of her backpack were supplies for the people who were most likely trapped in their houses due to the crazy-high snowfall.

Fucking figures a blizzard kicks up while he's clearing out snow! Now he'd have to find shelter while he waited for it to settle down. And the city was nowhere near here! He let out a sigh. "Inferno, Vulcan, Fawkes, return" he said as he returned them to their Pokeballs. After that, it was up to him to trudge through the snow, searching through a cave or something. Eventually, when he was near freezing to death, he heard a voice. A mirage? Maybe he was hearing things. Shit like this happened with your life flashing before your eyes. But no, it was Izumi, finally arriving. He grinned wide as she came over. "Izumi, I could fucking kiss you right now" he cracked as he took the extra gloves, putting them on.
He looked around at her questions. "Well... First things first..." he began, letting out a chilled sigh. "We can't stay out in this blizzard, we'll need to find a cave and wait for it to clear out, because there isn't a blasted city around here for quite some ways. Can't see a thing, and if we clear the snow out, it'll just show up again. It's best we find shelter and stay there till it stops, so we can get started" he said. "I'd actually been working with a Pokemon Ranger for a little while, shortly after I arrived, but he... Uhh... He kind of abandoned the mission and went back to town when the blizzard started. We got separated, and I doubt he's coming back for me. Probably good you showed when you did" he said, laughing a bit despite the fact he was shivering. He wasn't quite used to these cold conditions, as much as he hated to say...
"Hey, I see a cave there!" he said, pointing out to a small cave not too far from there. He started trudging through the snow, motioning for her to follow. "It's best we rest there for now, and wait it out" he said again. "We got tons of time, no worries"

Her initial reaction upon approaching where Josh was, after handing him the extra pair of gloves she’d brought along, was to freak out—because there was an actual blizzard blowing through the area! “I—I thought we were supposed to clear out the snow, but what the hell, there’s an actual blizzard happening right now?!” she shouted over the roaring din of the howling wind and snow—she then took the time to slip the snow goggles over her eyes so that she could be able to follow wherever he was headed. Oh, that reminds me, have to give him the extra scarf and goggles I brought along as well, she thought as she strained her ears in order to be able to hear what he was saying. “We’re just a ways away from the—hey, where are you headed?!” she shouted once again over the roaring wind, trying to keep up with him in this crazy weather. She heard him remark about seeing a cave not too far from where they stood, and he led the way; and she tried her best to keep up with him—sending out even a single ‘mon in these weather conditions was apparently suicidal, in any case.
Eventually, they had managed to take shelter in a cave; and even if it was freezing outside, there was a chance the closed-in space could hold some heat for them. Now that they were out of the crazy snowstorm, she could relax; and then proceeded to make herself as comfortable as she could manage—even if the environs were dripping wet at the moment. “Hey, here. I brought some extra clothes just in case you came underdressed for the occasion,” she continued, quickly unzipping her backpack and pulling out an extra scarf, as well as several extra pairs of socks that he could use in the meantime. “Why are you underdressed for the weather anyway? And… wasn’t that kind of harsh, the Ranger left you to yourself all alone out here?” she asked with a tone of concern, rubbing her hands together in order to keep warm at least. “Now that we’re here… I have an idea,” she muttered, quickly fishing around inside the pocket of her jacket, before grabbing a distinctive Pokeball and then sending out Agni, her Magmar. As the red flash of light transformed into the Spitfire ‘mon, she then watched as he shivered initially, but the tail of flame he had with him burned a bit brighter in response to the sudden drop in temperature. “Well, better try to keep warm at least for now…” she muttered, secretly thankful that they were some ways inside the small cave they’d found on the path.
“How long have you been waiting?” she asked, digging through the bag and finding some extra rations of food she’d brought along—but there was no wood to at least have a steady fire going! Urgh, might as well have Agni out until the storm lets up a bit… she thought to herself as she then continued to paw through the bag, looking for something that they could use in order to be able to at least have a steady heat source.

He rolled his eyes at her reaction despite being grateful for the gloves. "Zuzu, I told you on the phone!" He yelled, trying to be heard over the roar of the blizzard. "The weather around here has been freaky and unpredictable lately! It's why these blizzards are coming about to begin with! I just wasn't prepared for one so soon!" He explained as he walked.
Once they reached the cave, Josh would look around. It was small but it was good enough. He nodded and sat against the wall, relaxing a bit and nodding in thanks as she handed him the extra clothes. "Thanks" he said as he slipped them on. "I was prepared for an afternath. Not round 2" he explained. "Not sure what happened. Just bailed on me. But least I got you here" he explained with a small smile.
"I have wood in my pack" he explained as he saw her do her thing, he fished firewood out of his pack and arranged it on the ground before pulling out a Pokeball. "Go, Fawkes" he said calmly as a Charmeleon popped out and immediately started shivering. Josh sighed and pulled out a big warm blanket, that he wrapped around himself and Fawkes, who nodded in thanks. One of Josh's pokeballs would open and a Pikachu would pop out and let itself into the blanket too, cuddling up to his Trainer. If Izumi recognized the blue scarf on his neck she might remember Lightning as the Pichu that participated in the fight when they first met.
Josh smiled faintly at them both. "Ember" he said calmly to Fawkes, who shot the flaming particles at the firewood until they burst into flames, bringing warmth. "Much better" he said.

“Round Two?” she began, a hint of confusion on her face; before she blinked and then watched as he began pulling out some extra, dry wood that they could use for kindling in the meantime. “Ahh, there we go,” she continued, feeling the temperature warm up somewhat in the cave as the fire then crackled; thankfully making her Magmar calm down from exerting its “internal fire” so much because of the drop in temperature. “Alright, Agni, get back in here. We need you well-rested for the actual snow-melting mission later,” she continued, plucking out a particular PokeBall and recalling the Spitfire ‘mon, before dropping it down her thick jacket again. She then noticed that he had a blanket, and then reached for her own backpack, quickly brushing off all the wet snow that had stuck to her trusty pair of boots (which she had completely and totally forgotten to shove inside the maw of her luggage while traversing through the freak blizzard) and then setting them near the fireside to dry.
“I forgot to stuff my boots into my pack. Now it’s all mucky,” she explained with a sheepish grin on her face; before she then opened the zipper and began pawing through it again; after some moments of silence she came up with a few extra blankets—and they were the ones that mountain climbers usually took along with them. “Heh, if we weren’t in a cave and there was no blizzard rampaging outside, this would pass off as a good camping trip,” she said with a chuckle, tossing one of the thermal blankets his way, before spreading out one of the extra ones underneath so that she could sit down on it; before picking up the last one and then wrapping it around her. “This weather sure is crazy. Wonder what made it whip up again? I heard that the Snowbelle Gym always keeps its doors open, but in weather conditions like this, I think they would do better to just shut the door…” she added with a chuckle, removing the thick gloves she had on and then placing it on her left side, near the backpack of things she’d brought along since she did know that they were going to be heading into cold weather.
“So… would you like to meet mama Kaji and Arashi in the meantime?” she asked him; knowing that she’d mentioned these two names several times during their phone conversations, he’d immediately know whom she was referring to: the two Typhlosion in her care.

"Yes, Izumi. Round 2" he said irritably. "I was prepared for the aftermath of the FIRST blizzard, but I wasn't expecting a sudden second one while I was out here, so soon. The weather patterns out here are nuts!" he explained, cracking his neck as he got extra blankets out, taking what she offered as well and using all he had to provide proper warmth and comfort for him and his Pokemon. He chuckled a bit at her jib about camping. "Well, we certainly have time to camp out in Kalos while we're on our trip out here" he added with a smirk. "After this, anyway. I don't wanna camp out in the cold any longer then I have to"
At her offer about the Cynda family, he nodded. "Alright, I don't see why not" he said as he took out a Pokeball. "Good we got blankets for these guys. It's chilly as fuck out here" he said as he looked out at the blizzard outside. "Go, Inferno!" he said as he pressed the button, bringing out what was once the Cyndaquil that Izumi had given him long ago, now a Quilava, Inferno. "Quilava!" he let out excitedly as he recognized Izumi. "Pika Pi!" Lightning chirped in greeting to Izumi as well, also recognizing her from the mission they had been on. "Oh, and this is Lightning, if you don't remember" he said with a small smile as he motioned toward the Pikachu in the blankets. "Evolved into a Pikachu, like I said"

“You’re not a fan of extremely cold weather, huh? To be honest, neither am I,” she admitted with another chuckle as he gratefully accepted the blankets and wrapped them over the layers he already had over his own supplies. It was at this point she noticed that he now had a Pikachu—one that was wearing the same scarf as the little Pichu she’d seen the very first time they met wearing. “Whooooa. Looks like you’ve been busy too, Lightning is now a Pikachu,” she remarked, grinning in the little Lightning Mouse’s direction; before attempting to pet him—but wasn’t sure if he’d like another person touching him or not! Now that she’d seen Inferno out, he was a Quilava… and right on cue, she smirked a few moments, before reaching down her jacket and plucking out two particular capsules; one of them was a Safari Ball with a name stenciled on its surface in Izumi’s second language; while the other was a Friend Ball—and she could see that the two Typhlosion were now leering quite excitedly at her.
“Geez, these guys are nuts, they really want out… alright, get going with the family reunion,” she added with a chuckle, before popping the buttons on the two balls and watching as the Safari Ball opened first, revealing a fully-grown Typhlosion; who then let out a sudden blast of fire from her mane because of the sudden dip in temperature! “T-typhlosion, ty…” she heard mama Kaji shiver; before the mane of flames crackled in intensity—and then saw that there was a Quilava near where she stood. Scenting the air, she could tell that he was familiar… before approaching the little Quilava as well. “Ty? Typhlosion? TY!!!” Izumi heard the female volcano ‘mon chime in, before quickly rubbing her snout against her son’s face; and right them and there the Friend Ball popped open, revealing Arashi, and for a Typhlosion he was a bit taller and more well-built as compared to his mom and little brother. “He… he’s been eating a lot,” she said as the taller Male Typhlosion saw that “mumsie” was out and was apparently nuzzling this Quilava… and it was at this point, too, that the air smelled so familiar he decided to join the two nuzzling Fire-types as well, tackling the younger Quilava in what looked to be a “bear hug”.
“Hey, looks like the heat’s warming up the cave too,” she added with a chuckle, feeling the heat that the three were radiating slowly wafting over them—even a small fire could only generate so much heat for everyone present in the cave!

He chuckled a bit. "Fraid not" he admitted, cracking his neck. "I'm more used to.. Tropical environments. Beaches. Always been my thing, yknow? Lavaridge is my cup of tea, if you can't tell, evidenced by how long I stayed, despite the fact you invited me in" he teased, sticking his tongue out at her. "I don't usually stay long, but you and the warm kept me there quite awhile. You should feel lucky" he cracked, laughing.
He smiled a tad as she petted Lightning, who coo'd in response happily. He was a friendly Pikachu, luckily, and nuzzled himself against Izumi's hand. "Cha~" he coo'd and Josh laughed, happy to see them getting along. "Seems he really likes you" he mused aloud with a smirk. "I'm sure you two will be good friends in time. But yeah, Lightning evolved into Pikachu after we took on a horde of Gyarados. Good times, yknow? This little bugger evolved to save my life. I guess we're even now" he said with a laugh.
Inferno watched as the mama Typhlosion came out and tilted his head. Quickly, he recognized her when she came over. "Quilava!" he chirped excitedly as he nuzzled his mama's head. Mama was here! He'd missed his mama! Look how big he'd gotten, mama! He was all big and evolved now!
Then big brother came around and Josh watched with laughter as Inferno was tackled down by his big brother. "Quill! Quilava!" Inferno squealed happily in reaction to seeing his big brother again!
"Inferno looks really happy to see his family again" Josh said. "And no wonder, they've been apart so long now. I just wonder if Inferno will grow up to be as big as yours" he commented. "How big is your big brother Typhlosion, exactly? I might have to monitor that to see if it's a hereditary thing when Inferno evolves..."

“Try sticking me in Snowpoint, that’s much colder… nope I’m not going to last too long out there. I prefer the heat and the desert too. I don’t know, it’s always been a way of life for me,” she added with a chuckle as the Pikachu thankfully did not shock the living daylights out of her; instead choosing to nuzzle up close to her hand, trying to get in its fair share of rubbing! “What’s one little Pichu against a whole horde of big, rampaging Gyarados? I tell you, it’s like you dropped a taser into the water. Bzzt,” she ended, making the crackling noise of a shorting piece of equipment. “Also, for that crack I feel honored,” she added with a grin, before watching the ‘family reunion’ continue; and their generated heat did warm up the area somewhat now. “Heh, looks like it did us some good too. Look at how warm the air’s getting inside the cave,” she continued with a grin.
“It’s funny isn’t it? We’ve been travelling together but we never got the chance for them to meet… until now,” she began once again with a grin, reaching for the gloves she’d laid atop her bag. “Ahh, much better,” she continued, standing up in order to be able to check the boots that she’d left drying out by the fire and tapping them. “Well, outside’s all dry now… now for the inside,” she continued, walking back to her backpack and then taking out two makeshift “poles”; they were more like two thick sticks of wood that seemingly came in a pair; before she tried to stick them into the floor of the cave, but coming up a bit short. “Hrr, give me a second…” she trailed off, quickly digging out a few “holes” as best as she could manage, before turning the boots upside-down and then balancing them quite precariously on the two pieces of wood she’d brought along; and was not surprised to see that there was water dripping out of the inside.
“Hmf, knew it, they were soaked right inside…” she continued as she then left the boots near the fire, turned the other way, in order for the interior part to dry out thanks to the heat the three ‘mons were now generating along with the fire. As she sat back down beside Josh and wrapped herself up in one layer of blankets, she continued, “Well, to be honest I was quite surprised to see that Ara here is… what, a few inches taller than the standard height of a normal Typhlosion. It might be hereditary, we’ll just have to wait and see,” she ended with another chuckle as she then reached into the backpack once more and brought out several wrapped pieces of foil. “Heh, never travel without sandwiches,” she continued, leaving them out near the fire again, to see if they would just… “toast” themselves.

Josh couldn't help but laugh a bit at that, and nod. "Aye" he said in response. "I've always preferred warmer climates. Just my thing. I'm used to hotter climates in general, but this is a completely different animal. I don't think I've ever been this cold in my life" he explained. "Pika Pika!" Lightning chirped in response to Izumi's teasing about the Gyarados. "I mean, we didn't do it on our own" Josh said. "We had a friend helping us out, but Lightning did more then hold his own against the ones that we did fight. I was almost Gyarados lunch after we got knocked into the water, but Lightning picked that time to evolve and give them a big 'ol jolt to take em down. I swear, ever since he switched from Thundershock to Thunderbolt, it's like his shocks get more powerful by the day. I know, I've taken my fair share of them" he said with a laugh.
He smirked a bit as he saw the family reunion had warmed up the cave. Thank god. He watched as Fawkes would curl up to rest near the fire. "Yeah...." he said as Izumi mentioned them never meeting. It was odd... But it was nice to see them together again now. "We'll have to try and make sure they meet more often, aye?" he said, looking over at her.
He smirked as Izumi began toasting sandwiches, before she mentioned the size thing. "Huh..." he said as he looked at the height difference between the three. "I guess we'll have to see how Inferno turns out"

“What is it with you and nearly getting eaten?” she asked with a chuckle, as the Pikachu chimed in and joined with the banter—was Josh really a big, shining beacon that seemed to attract trouble wherever he went? “You know what; I’d say that your middle name is ‘trouble’. No, even better, ‘food’,” she ended with a grin on her face, before shielding herself if there was any attempt to bop her across the head coming from his direction! “Desperation… really can do strange things to people. People, and Pokémon,” she hastily added, noticing that the situation with the Gyarados and one titchy little Pichu was nothing to laugh at. “Heh, that reminds me of the time I faced off against the Great Wall… a frickin’ horde of Onix and Steelix. It took me a long time, but in the end…” she trailed off, absolutely smirking at this point before continuing, “…I had managed to get most of my team members evolving right then and there. Five. Five in one go! It wasn’t easy. So I know how it feels, staring at death in the eye and refusing to back down…”
She then nodded in his direction at the suggestion of the happy little toasty Typhlosion family meeting more often; a suggestion that was sound. “Yep. They really should meet more often. Heh, tell me when Inferno evolves, then we can compare their height and stuff…” she continued, before standing up and poking one of the wrapped packages with a finger. “Hmm… need to flip it over,” she said, quickly wetting her fingers before flipping the wrapped sandwiches over, so that at least they toasted evenly! “Crap, forgot to bring tongs. That kinda hurt, who knew fire and foil work so well together…” she added with a chuckle as she sat down beside Josh again, and then taking a look outside—from this distance she couldn’t tell the weather, because the interior of the cave was starting to warm up and feel like home! “So, when do you expect we can start melting the snow?” she asked in an off-hand manner, watching as the Charmeleon curled up closer to the fire—secretly glad he didn’t have to keep his tail ablaze at full power just to stay warm.

"I didn't realize it'd happened more then once" he corrected, blinking. "You're probably remembering the story I told of this on the phone before. I just never told you the full version in person" he added with a smirk. He stuck his tongue out at her when she went off about nicknames. "Then your middle name is Smelly. Or Stinkinator. Or Spiceinator. Or even Stinkmaster!" He cracked, laughing a bit.
Her Great Wall story was impressive. Maybe even a bit far fetched. But he believed the stinkmaster. "Yeah, we can do that when he evolves" he responded to her bit about Inferno.
"Soon hopefully" he answered to her question as she kept playing with fire and getting burned. "It should let up soon"
Post by Izumi Yamamura on Sept 1, 2014 5:24:06 GMT -5
“Wha,really? Oops, we share so many stories with each other, there is the tendency to get them all mixed up at some point…” she said in a sheepish tone, scratching the back of her head, before looking over at him—and feeling her ears burning red. “Hey! No sassing me in front of the Pokémon!” she suddenly yelped, making a half-hearted attempt to swat Josh with a backhand motion, but breaking down in laughter at the last few moments. At this point, she decided to return to the sandwiches, this time slipping on an extra layer of gloves; and then touching the two wrapped lumps that were near the fire. “Right, fair enough,” she said to his quip about the comparison they would be doing the size comparison once Inferno had reached his final form. A few moments later, she was heard to hiss, “Ouch, hot. Hot enough at least,” before scooping up the two foil-wrapped sandwiches and then passing the other one his way.
“I dunno what kind of fillings you like, but I pretty much crammed bacon in there. I just don’t know if that’s the bacon and cheese or bacon and egg sandwich you have there,” she said, unwrapping her own and just taking a bite out of it, before backing away a few moments later. “Bleh, too hot,” she hissed a few moments later, fanning the sandwich with her other hand in order to try to get it to cool down. There was a bite mark on the bread; but the sandwich was still pretty much whole—did she expose it for too long to the fire?! After a few frantic moments of fanning, she then reattempted to take a bite out of the sandwich, and flinched—the bread wasn’t too hot anymore, but the filling was; and she tasted something milky. “Cheese. Heh, you got the bacon and egg one,” she said with a grin, nudging him to start eating; because from the looks of things outside, the storm wasn’t letting up one bit at all…
Post by Josh Dragomir on Sept 2, 2014 3:30:34 GMT -5
He laughed a bit in return. "Eh, mistakes happen. And no I will not stop sassing you no matter who is here, man, or Pokemon. You nicknamed me the Sass Master, now suffer the consequences!" He joked with a full and joyful laugh.
Josh would motion to the gloves; silently telling the girl to use them. As she took them and handled the food that way, he smirked at her reaction to the heat. "First you complain about the cold, then you complain about the heat. Make up your mind, Smelly Izumi" he cracked with a smirk.
Eventually he would take the egg and bacon sandwich as she handed him it. "Thanks" he said, not really a fan of egg sandwiches, but the bacon more then made up for it. He was a massive fan of bacon. Better hope he doesn't get a Tepig and Hungry at the same time. He would chow down, while fumbling through his pack for Poke Chow for his Pokemon.
"Storm should calm down within the hour" he advised.
