"Hmm.... Mt Chimney, eh?" he responded to her suggestion. "I suppose I could maybe spend a week there. With my Pokemon. Live in the caves and dedicate time to training..." he mused aloud as he ate. He could see it now, the plan was formulating in his head... An all out, fully dedicated week long training session with him and his Pokemon, living in the mountains and in it's caves, taking on the wild Pokemon around them and forging not just the strength of himself and his pokemon, but strength in the bond he held with them as well. A flame needed to be ignited, and this just might be what would be needed to ignite that flame. It would be hard, it would be filled with trials and tribulations, but Josh had survived tons before. His Pokemon had survived tons before. They needed this. Josh couldn't live having low confidence in himself anymore. He needed to believe in himself like his Pokemon believed in him, and he needed in return to truly believe in his Pokemon. It was decided then, the plans in the mix, the gears turning. He would find time to pull this off, he just knew it. It might be his best bet.
He laughed a bit at her next words. "How many Gym Leaders have kicked your ass now?" he inquired. "I've met one before, but never battled one. I'd just get my ass kicked. Better not to even try until I'm ready" he said, cracking his neck before digging right back into the food.
He nodded at her agreement to the overzealous competitive types with a sigh. "Well, as for us, we can at least do some sparring. Help train up our Pokemon. Nothing too competitive, just something to really pump them up and have fun. Forge the bonds between trainer and pokemon and keep them in shape"

Izumi cringed at the question that was tossed her way; it was the one regarding how many Gym Leaders had kicked her regally out of their challenge area. Chuckling with another embarrassed grimace crossing her face, she then told him, “Let’s just say I got trounced by… one of the triplet guys in Striaton in Unova. As for right here, in our home region… I… well, asides from Flannery I also want to travel to Fortree and challenge Winona, but I want my Hoenn attempt to have some sort of order so I’m going to go against Roxanne first,” she ended with another sheepish head-scratch. “I also wanted to get stronger while practicing with other people, since as you’ve already noticed, the both of us have this little problem going when it comes to sizing up other people’s Pokémon companions…” before returning to the now-forgotten frosted cookie in her hand.
She then crammed it back into her mouth; and letting the silence fall over them as she continued to power her way through the plate. After she was mostly done with the cake, she then spoke up again, in response to his other dialogue, “Yeah, nothing better than a little sparring session. Hey, why not after we’re done here, we go outside town and have a little sparring session of our own? Of course, I have to switch out my comrades so that they’re not overpowered, taking your team mates into consideration,” she added, waving the fork once again. They sure were having a lot of interactions lately… what was this supposed to mean? No, don’t over-assume. You’re at it again! Let things go their natural course, let it develop from there… don’t rush head-on again… calm down! She chastised herself in the back of her mind as she then finished off the remnants of the cake that she had taken for herself.

He chuckled a bit. "Well, you've certainly had fun with Gym Leaders it seems" he said. "For me? Discretion is the better part of valor. I know I'm not ready, so I didn't try a Gym battle just yet. But I will, in time. And when I do, I'm going to be ready" he said with a small smile. He would take another bite of cake casually and listen to Izumi attentively. Afterword, he would nod. "Aye, a sparring session would be nice sometime" he said with a smirk. "Don't know when we'll be able to, with time and schedule, but we'll find a day sometime soon, I'm sure" he said, chuckling. "Maybe I'll use my Combusken... He needs some more battle experience after that battle with all those wild Pokemon. The more battles he does, the better he gets, right?"
He closed his eyes and relaxed, quite enjoying himself, the conversation... The company... What was better then hanging out with a friend, who was also a good looking girl, having a meal and talking about Pokemon?

“I…. will have to take that into consideration. ‘Discretion is the better part of valor’. I think you just gave me a new motto… at least when it comes to attempting to challenge other people in official, ‘sanctioned’ battles,” she added with a chuckle. At the mention of his Combusken, she then nodded, before realizing that they had a little snag they had to work out: a time and place they could actually meet and have their first ever practice session. “Just let me know when you do get the free time. I’ll just be hanging around Lavaridge, staying home for a bit before going off again on another journey… we seriously need to book a trip to Kalos soon enough,” she added with this grin on her face.
Who knew what adventures they’d run into once they did get started on their training journey together. Sometime later… All the chocolate cake was gone, they were down to the last few glasses of soda, and it had been some time before she actually looked up and spoke again. “Well. Let’s agree on a date and time for our sparring sessions. Then we can go visit your place, and then after that… off to Kalos? How does that sound?” she asked him after that period of silence—which she had spent thinking and possibly trying to plan out the different things she could cram onto her otherwise free schedule at the moment.

“I…. will have to take that into consideration. ‘Discretion is the better part of valor’. I think you just gave me a new motto… at least when it comes to attempting to challenge other people in official, ‘sanctioned’ battles,” she had added, and Josh smirked faintly. "Good, at least you're listening" he teased. "I mean, you gotta learn somehow, right?" he cracked with a cheeky grin. "I'll do what I can" he promised. "We'll find a day, and we'll spar, I promise" he said with a chuckle. "Maybe Inferno can spar his brother?" he suggested, shrugging. "Or we could bring other Pokemon that could use the training, perhaps" he added, scratching his beard. "So many opportunities, so many different ideas"
"I'll call you when I'm ready to getcha to my place, by the way" he said with a smirk. "Just don't be late" he teased, sticking his tongue out at her.

“I like that idea… the brothers having a little sparring session of their own. Hey, it can also lead us to having some of our unevolved cohorts actually have a chance at getting stronger, you never know,” Izumi chimed in, standing up and then quickly plucking up the empty dishes that were scattered around the table. “You still want more dessert, or are you done for the day?” she asked, in true waitress fashion—hell, she was wearing her work outfit when she’d gone down to the kitchen and prepared everything so that they could have this nice private talk. Once most of, if not all of the dishes were on the tray, she then said, “Give me a few minutes, I’ll be right back,” and then slowly eased herself out of the room, carrying the loaded tray and heading off to the kitchen… where she did not realize that half the wait staff was now waiting for her with leery grins on their faces! Little did she expect the torrent of ribbing, teasing, and just about every imaginable act whenever someone has eyes on a certain individual headed her way…
It may have felt like forever, but eventually, she had managed to fight her way back to the little room where Josh was most likely still waiting for her—with her hair dishelved and her face a roaring blush of pink! “Crap. They found out that I’m entertaining a guest. The head chef told the waiters—and he also thanks you for the complement on the cake and the burger too… but all the same, he told everyone and now they’re…” she trailed off, before hearing the faint sound of what was like a stampede headed towards the room before turning back to him—“…and they’re going to want to see you. So what’re you going to do now? Stay here or get out while you can? Most likely the head told my mom about you already, and you know how fast adults put two and two together,” she ended, stopping in order to be able to catch her breath. “So… are you going to stay, or make a run for it? Also, don’t worry about paying, I got it covered… I’ve got way too many free meal coupons to use up anyway,” she added, raising a hand; in order to at least attempt him from giving her the cash for the meal if he insisted…

Josh smiled a bit as he finished his food. "We'll find a day" he promised. "And no thanks for the seconds, I think I'm stuffed" he responded with a laugh. He'd had enough munches for today. "You'd make a great wife for someone one day though, with your food tastes" he joked with a laugh. After she left, he checked his belt for his Pokeballs. The question was, which ones had he brought with him today...
Then she returned, and boy was it awkward! People were coming, he could hear it. He sighed and got up. "Yeah.. Mobs aren't my thing" he admitted. "Guess we're going through the open window" he said. But how to slow the stampede down...
Josh sighed at her words. They'd just waste time if he insisted on paying. Normally, he would and he'd continuously fight with her, but there was no time. So instead he silently let his Squirtle out. "Bastilo, Water Pulse on the floor" he said quietly. The Squirtle was puzzled, but shrugged and sent a ball of water crashing to the floor, as Josh sidled toward the open window as it was hitting, with water bursting from it and covering the floor. It was slippery now, which was Josh's plan. He motioned for Izumi to follow before climbing out the open window and making a break for it, with the Squirtle leaping out after him and following his Trainer.

Izumi chuckled sheepishly as he admitted to her that he wasn’t so uppity about having a crowd of people flocking around him (which explained why he preferred to hide in the inn when he’d arrived at Lavaridge) and when he suggested that they bail out of there, she couldn’t have agreed more with him! Watching as he sent out a Squirtle, who then bombed the floor with water, he then made a quick and hasty getaway towards the window and hopped out—thankfully landing outside; where it seemed that there weren’t too many people around anymore. “Alright, I don’t want to face the music yet, so…” she trailed off, quickly plucking one of her own Pokeballs from her pocket and then sending out Yuya, her Swampert as well. “Yu, Ice Beam that door, then follow me!”
The Swampert, confused as to why she was out in such a small and cramped place, decided to follow her orders anyway, taking a deep breath before aiming a blast of arctic energy right at the door; coating it with a thick layer of ice. Whoever was on the other side of the door would suddenly give a howl, and then tried to kick the door in, but to no avail; and then she gave a whistle, causing Yuya to take a flying leap and followed her out the window as well! She then quickly recalled the Swampert—and the two then made a run for it! she knew she drew attention because of her wait staff outfit, but there was no more time to argue, they needed to get away from the “scene of the crime” lickety-split!
