Nacrene City was a lovely pitstop after wasting away in nothing but sweat, dirt, and grass stains for an entire day, but the city was too calm. The museums made the experience worth it for the first day of his stay, but the quiet atmosphere was totally not his thing, bringing him straight to Pinwheel Forest once again. He had the chance to check on the Deerling he caught earlier, even giving him a name and a few introductions with his current team members, but there wasn't much of a reason to take him along for the trip. It would've been a different story if Danny had the time to teach Sweet Prince a couple rad moves, but for now, Sweet Prince wasn't ready to take on the forest.
Not that the rest of his crew was ready either, but this was part two of their training. Winnie had some priority when it came to evolving to her final stage, but he wasn't about to throw the Metapod into a battle she couldn't handle. <I feel as if we haven't seen the road in aaaaages and aaaages. Are you sure that we're going the right way?> Snuggled into his chest like a clingy monkey, a sleepy-eyed Emolga stared up at Danny in concern. She couldn't even guarantee that she could find her way out by gliding over the trees at this point, and that was saying something. Noticing her concern, he gave Aph a comforting scratch under the chin as he scanned the unfamiliar area, noticing how several trees had been knocked against the above cliffs, acting as aged wooden bridges to unfamiliar areas. "We'll be fine, Aph. Just look over yonder. Why, I bet the further we climb up, the closer we get to greatness." Even Danny didn't know what he wanted as he playfully scrambled up the fallen tree, inching his way up like a worm as Aph clung even tighter. His words weren't the most comforting thing ever, but his curiosity was contagious, and the moment he crawled off the top of the tree, she kicked off of his chest like a professional swimmer and took to the skies. "Nothing but more trees." Disappointment was instantaneous, but giving up so soon wasn't his style. Aph eventually settled back down on his shoulder once she was comfortable with their surroundings, but there were a couple key places of interest that caught her eye.
At least once, she wanted to cool off at the large creek that flowed through an open gap in the forest. On a hot Summer day like this, she had a feeling that even Danny would be grateful for that kind of relief. <Hey hey, we should go that-a-way. Whaddaya say, bae?> The Emolga laughed as she tickled his chin with her tail, taking in that spark of amusement when he tried to swat her off. Her tiny claws and his easy to grasp shirt worked against him as she simply climbed around his back, retreating to his other shoulder with a triumphant grin. "You saw something over there? Well, can't hurt I guess. Better not be more trees. I'm getting tired of trees." It was a rule in cool that trees just weren't allowed to be hip and happenin'. Shade was technically cool, temperature wise, but there was nothing exciting about exploring if there was nothing but trees and leaves.

The heat was pounding persistently at Danny's skull like an eager salesman, trying to convince him to buy a serving of dehydration with a side of death. Armed with a bottle of Gatorade that did not do the cool 'sweat that looks like glowstick fluid' effect, he took sips and gulps when needed, occasionally sharing with the Emolga that clung to his chest like a small child. Aph was the one that pointed out where to go, and he figured that there must've been something worthwhile as long as he made smooth strides over the earthy, autumn colored path. Sweat dripped around his nose, and the way his clothes stuck to his skin made him grimace in disgust. The moment this afternoon heat broke into tiny bits was the moment he could run wild and free.
"I'm being grilled alive. These could be my last moments for all I know." Danny stared uneasily at the sky, wincing as the sun's harsh rays attempted to stun and blind him. Sharp claws dug into his shirt, gently probing at his chest at the comment. To him, it was a sign to keep moving forward. Good thing he did too, because he ended up walking to the edge of a creek that dipped and bent into a nearby river. "Now we're talking. Sweet dreams are made of these." The glorious sight of fresh, running water had him immediately stripping his clothes off for the sake of some Danny on water action.
Aph bounced herself off his chest with a playful chortle, circling over the river a few times until she dived in herself. She wasn't the best swimmer out there, but as long as the current was lazily strolling along, she found swimming enjoyable. Once Danny was down right to his boxers, he took a few steps in himself, shivering as the sting of the water went higher and higher against his waist. <Why didn't you just jump in, you wuss? You're doing it the baby way.> Snickering from the riverside as water dripped from her head with the glory of a trophy, she kicked up a wee splash at him as a joke. "Don't even laugh, fur coat. I'm going in near nude, unlike you." That fur coat must've helped take the cold sting away from the water, or at least it made sense in his mind, so Aph had no right to judge.
<Yeah, yeah. Hurry up and get in the water! I can see your soggy panties from here.> Sure enough, the edges of his boxers were poking out of the surface as Danny made a hasty retreat to the shallow end. As hot as it was out in the wild, the water was a tad too cold to just dive right in without warning. Turning his nose up as he crawled to sit on the grass, he let his legs sink into the depths of the river until he could find a happy medium with the temperature. The grass tickled his skin, and he could've sworn that there was some kind of bug crawling over his hands, but he resisted the urge to scratch himself by focusing on the scenery instead. Pinwheel Forest was absolutely gorgeous, without a doubt. And in a quiet, secluded place like this, it felt as if this part of the area was reserved for him and Aph.
Of course that was a silly thought; wild Pokemon lived here, and they were bound to show up sooner or later.
Sure enough, the pitter patter of tiny feet glided across the ground with relative ease, not even phased by the sweltering summer heat. The sound was enough to make Danny turn around, but by the time he did, a brown blur flew by his head, immediately proceeded by a loud splash. Recoiling as the chill of the water dribbled all over him, all he could do was wipe what he could out of his eyes as a Lillipup happily lounged about the river belly side up, resembling a fuzzy, brown Oshawott. <10/10. Excellent jump. Incredible posture. Look at that dog go; what a beauty.> Pleased that they had some company, Aph started to dog paddle her way towards the Lillipup, eager to have a playmate that wasn't such a baby when it came to the cold.
Unfortunately for her, Danny's love for puppies resulted in him scooping up the dog as if it was already his own. "Kyaaaa! Puppies! Puppypuppypuppypuppy!" Cradling the Lillipup against his chest, much to the wild Pokemon's bewilderment, he proceeded to bombard the pooch with pets and nuzzles. Not even the smell of wet dog could stop him from showing his love, much to Aph's horror. Danny rarely showered her in that kind of affection, despite how often she asked for it, so how the hell was this fair when some mutt from the forest jumped in without time for introductions?
<U-Uhm...put me down, please? It's nice to meet you too, but---ohh, that's the spot.> Initially squirming in protest at the sudden snuggle attack, the moment Danny found that sweet spot underneath his chin, Lillipup was in puppy heaven. "I want to keep you, I want to name you, I want to give you lots and lots of walks, and you'll be my bud. You'll be my lil' bud. And I'll take so many puppy videos of you, and you'll be internet famous, and we'll be famous friends!" Whisking the Lillipup into the air, he held the wild Pokemon into the sun as if he was declaring Simba as the new Lion King. The Lillipup had no idea what was going on, but this guy's excitement was contagious, so he kept wagging his tail in pleasure as water continued to drip all over the place. Some of it even smacked Aph in the face, unintentionally of course, but it only added to her horror at this sudden act of isolation.
Not one to be one-upped in the cute contest, Aph wiped that scowl clear off her face as she paddled her way towards Danny's chest. Gripping her trimmed claws against his skin, she started to climb up him as if she was some sort of spider monkey. With even more cold water dripping down his back, Danny couldn't help but let loose a horrified scream as he held his precious new puppy friend to his chest. Bucking up and down like a wild animal, Aph could barely hold on as she was shoved back into the water without mercy. By the time she resurfaced, Danny had shielded his new friend all the way to shore, panting and wheezing until he noticed her sulking in the spot he once stood. "Seriously? Aph, we were having a moment. Now it's dead and can't be saved. The moment is deaaaad." Patting the Lillipup sympathetically on the head, he tried to make up for his Emolga's jealous spurt by taking out a spare Pokeball, figuring that they could still use it as a ball for a game of catch. "Come on, Lillipup. It's not every day we can enjoy a Summer day like this." A message like that almost would've been sweet if Danny wasn't parading himself around in his underwear. Not that he minded--this was a chance to let his clothes air dry until he was ready to explore even more of the forest. "Go long!" Grunting as he lobbed the Pokeball through the trees, the Lillipup yipped enthusiastically as he ran to fetch the toy. It wasn't too hard to find it due to the vibrant colors on the ball, and after giving it a couple of good sniffs, the Lillipup picked it right back up in his mouth, bringing it back with a triumphant raise of his head. After Danny gave the pup a rewarding ruffle of his fur, he threw the ball somewhere else, which the Lillipup retrieved with ease.
After watching this go on for a few times, Aph couldn't take how this newcomer was stealing her mojo from the team. She was supposed to be the cute mascot, not that weird dog that came out of nowhere. Shaking herself dry, she marched right up to that Lillipup with a look that could freeze a Deerling in place. She didn't even know what she wanted to say to him, but she knew that this whole shebang had to stop for the sake of her well-being. Clearing her throat to prepare herself, she tapped the Lillipup's shoulder to get his attention. Right as he turned around, the Pokeball whizzed right over their heads, immediately distracting her rival as he bounded after the Pokeball once again. <Hey! I was trying to talk to you, you little jerk! Get back here!> Furious at how nobody was noticing her, she glided right behind the Lillipup, much to Danny's surprise. "Oh, now you want to play? See, there's no reason to be jealous when I have enough attention for everybody." Danny laughed to himself as the two Pokemon sped out of view, clearly not hearing his words, and Danny was clearly not seeing Aph's feelings.
He soon learned just how wrong he was when the two sped back with the Pokeball in tooth and paw, both struggling to yank it out of the other's grip as glares clashed, each refusing to give it up to the other. The second Aph's cheeks began to shoot out warning sparks, the Lillipup immediately let go, suddenly realizing just how seriously the Emolga was about this game of fetch. Or maybe it was more than the game itself? The Lillipup didn't know, but he wasn't willing to pick a fight over most things anyways. <That's what I thought. See? I'm the best. I brought it back first. I win!> Snickering as she proudly presented the Pokeball to her trainer, her snickers quickly turned to fearful silence the moment she saw Danny crouched down, eyes only two feet away as he glared at her from above. <Uh...? Is something wrong?> She tried to laugh off her nerves, but the look Danny gave her shut that up too.
"Aph, don't be a spoil sport over a game of fetch and catch. Don't take it so seriously. If you're gonna be like this each time we meet someone new, we're never gonna make friends. A little competition is fine and all, but...c'mon." The stern temper he once had eased up as he gave his Emolga a small nudge, urging her to at least apologize for taking things out on the Lillipup. Noticing the withdrawn, puppy-eyed look on her rival's face, even Aph had to sigh away her guilt.<Alright, alright. I'm sorry. I didn't like how that guy was ignoring me, and he needs to apologize, but...you didn't deserve that. So, sorry again.> Shooting a glare at Danny as she mentioned him, she eventually turned back to the Lillipup as she held out a paw as a peace offering. <I-It's not a problem. Honest. It must be hard to have a human.> The Lillipup sympathetically nodded as he grasped her paw in his own, giving it a firm shake. <It is. Especially with the language barrier.> She chirped in agreement, only adding to Danny's confusion as the pair proceeded to stare at him with pitying looks.
He didn't even like the way they were looking at him, somehow giving him the idea that they were shit-talking him despite how he was standing right there. "So! Now that apologies are all accounted for..." Aph rolled her eyes, which Danny caught and chose to ignore. "Lillipup, I think you should come with us! You can even use the Pokeball we played with, so it's sentimental now. How can you deny precious memories with a guy like me and a friend like Aph? It doesn't get better than that. Nope." Extending the Pokeball out as an offering, the Lillipup jolted his head back in response. Well, now. That was a heavy offer to consider. "Look, if you don't like us, we aren't gonna force you to stay. So if you ever want to come back to Pinwheel, that option is there too." Of course, it wasn't as if Danny would be able to understand Pokespeak in case that option ever popped up, but he was already convinced that this adorable pup was gonna want to come with him.
The Lillipup hesitated long enough to glance over to Aph for any sign of encouragement, and at her smile, he nodded and tapped his nose against the center of the Pokeball.

When the Pokeball clamped shut, securely trapping the Lillipup inside, Danny made a hasty beeline for the sphere. That puppy was his now, and no one could take it from him. Of course, the moment he had it in his grasp, the Pokeball blinked out of existence, leaving both of his hands to claw at the air around him. "L-Lillipup? Puppy? Pup pup? Poochie? My smoochie pooch?" Whimpering as he scrambled around the grass in his boxers, he was starting to think that some kind of robbery had happened through devious, magical means. <Oh boy. Hey, Danners. Isn't there a rule about only having 6 of us at a time?> Giving his bag a rustle as she searched through it, she picked his belt buckle up with her teeth, giving it a couple of shakes until Danny finally noticed her. "Oh...right. I had a full party. Geez, I knew that. Of course my Lillipup is safe and sound. Why wouldn't it be?" Forcing out a laugh as he flipped his bangs out of his eyes, he faked his way through the embarrassment of his mistake until he could forget it completely.
<I'm not telling anyone. I'm a master of secrets. Can't get a word out of a mouth like this when I put my mind to it.> Spitting his belt out with a wince, she made a note not to do that again any time soon. Leather tasted awful. Following her over to the rest of his stuff, he started to fumble back into his clothes, figuring that he was in his underwear long enough. Right after he slipped his shirt on, he felt a jabbing pain in his arm.<Hey,is there a reason why you're blushing? Are you ok?> Aph asked as she innocently poked his arm with a claw, a little amused at how his skin changed from red to white when pressed. "Sssshhhhh...owowow. Looks like the sun got frisky when I wasn't looking." Swatting her arm away as he cringed from the pain, he glanced his arms and legs over to see just how bad the sunburn was. It didn't look too bad yet, but he had the feeling it was going to get worse if he didn't slip into the shade soon.
Hopping into his pants as he struggled to slip his bags over his arms, Aph occasionally helped by holding up whatever he needed to put on next. Once all his things were together, save for his shorts zipper that remained unzipped, he ran straight into the precious, shade-filled forest with Aph gliding behind him.
"And now we're lost again. Should've left a bread crumb trail or something. Maybe a dollar bill trail, which you know, I'd love to do if I had any money." If you had the cash, you might as well flaunt the cash. As their pace slowed down into a casual walk, Aph made herself cozy by clinging to Danny's back, resting her head against shoulder as if it was a pillow. Danny found it pretty endearing, considering she was calm and zonked out from the heat, but the moment she got riled up there'd definitely be sparks flying everywhere. That had to be avoided as much as possible. "This forest is something else though. It's like, magical in a way. There's probably orcs or dwarves living around here, you know? I get that vibe here." Not that Aph knew what those were, but she nodded anyways, getting the gist of what he was saying.
They weren't going to find any dwarf or orc Pokemon around any time soon, seeing how nothing like them lived around these parts. There were, however, living Pokeballs shuffling behind the trees, much to Danny's surprise. 'Am I seeing things, or am I seeing things?' Mistaking the sight for an illusion, he nearly walked on by, but his curiosity brought him right back to investigate the floating Pokeball phenomena.
Peeking around the trees, much to his surprise, a horde of Foongus and Amoonguss were hopping deeper into the forest, minding their own business. They were a strange sight to look at, sure, but he wasn't curious enough to go and bother them. Aph tentatively climbed over his shoulder after picking up on the sound of nearby footsteps, but even she didn't have much of an interest in the Foongus. Thinking it was best to just continue on their way, Danny tip-toed away from the scene. He even held his breath on the off chance that the horde would be startled from their strange, human intruder. He had to admit, the mushroom Pokemon were pretty cool to look at, though he had to wonder why they resembled Pokeballs in the first place.
Which came first, the Foonus, the Voltorb, or the Pokeball? The world may never know. Regardless of that trick questions, he trekked deeper into the forest, hopping over fallen trees, crossing creeks by swinging over them with vines, and even swiping away abandoned spider webs by using any stick he could find just so he could claim that he explored most of Pinwheel Forest. He finally settled underneath a huge, century old maple tree that had a strange staircase leading up it. Now why would there be stairs up a place like this? Danny didn't know, but his curiosity was too strong to pass this up. "Aph, what do you think is up there? Who would even build something like this in the middle of the forest?" Crossing his arms with a perplexed frown, he cautiously rested his foot on the first step, testing it out to make sure it wouldn't cave in under his weight. Even stranger was how there seemed to be some kind of structure up at the very top. Whoever lived up there probably had their reasons, but Danny thought them weird regardless.
Post by Danny Kazuki on Aug 12, 2014 16:07:30 GMT -5
No time like the present to explore what was right in front of you. One hand grasped at the tree's base as Danny trekked up each step, taking it slow and easy on the off chance that the structure collapsed under him. Aph stayed with him despite how boring his caution was, but eventually her impatience caught up to her, scratching at her arms and legs until she couldn't bare to hold onto Danny any longer. <I'm going on ahead! At least I don't have to take the stairs.> Kicking off of his back as she gave him a mock salute, she glided through the trees as she spiraled around the staircase, making it to the top much faster than Danny could, even if he ran at full speed. Left to stare up at an aged, wooden shack that rested on some sort of wooden raft, Aph nudged the door open with her head. Sniffing around for signs of life, her ears and eyes remained alert as she hung around the walls, cautious about touching the pile of newspapers that littered the floor. Someone had obviously lived here, and from the looks of it, the house was currently unoccupied.
"Whew, not as bad as biking across Skyarrow Bridge, but stairs know how to beat a guy up." Noticing the cracked open door, Danny pushed it wide open, illuminating the rest of the room with the sunlight that trailed behind him. "Honey, I'm home. Aph, have you been waiting long? Baby, I'm so sorry for working late hours again. And you know how I am with the boys after work." Noticing a small couch covered in layer after layer of blankets in the corner, he found it appropriate to immediately jump on it, stretching his legs on the armrest as if he was right at home. Aph got into the role of the housewife immediately, resisting a laugh as she climbed over the kitchen sink, grasping onto the nearest fly swatter as if it was some kind of weapon. <I work too, and even I don't get to spend as much time with the girls as I used to. And here you are, leaving me with 2 litters of children. All by myself, even! I'd be better off having two lovers at this rate. Maybe three. Or four. They'd all love and support me, unlike you.> Aph lobbed the fly swatter at his face, and right after it landed, he let loose a disgusted shriek in response. "Ew, Aph! There could still be guts on that thing!" Lifting up the bottom of his shirt, he furiously wiped what he could off before it contaminated him for life.
The cap holding Aph's laughter in finally popped off, and with a hoot and a howl, she rolled over the counter as her legs kicked and banged at the walls, wheezing the rest of her laughs off as Danny rolled his eyes, plugging his ears as if none of this was happening. "Lalalala, can't hear you." At least Aph's laughter was starting to come to a halt, but the commotion was loud enough to draw in an unwanted visitor. <What are you doing in my clubhouse? This is my place! Mine! That bed you're sleeping on? That's mine too!> A furious Karrablast stomped his feet at the sight of the house invasion, and for all he knew, these thugs were in the middle of stealing his precious belongings as well.
Danny had no idea what the Karrablast was going on about, but it was loud, and it was mad. He nervously shot a glance at Aph that pleaded with her to handle this, and with a reluctant groan, she hopped off the counter to face the rightfully pissed off beetle. <So...this was your clubhouse? Ha...Ha HA! Here we thought it was empty. Completely free to use. I can see you took good care of the place. Lovely decorations.> Rubbing her paws togeter as she tried buttering the bug up, she leaned close to his side, batting her eyes despite his obvious discomfort. <Ok...that's nice. Leave.> Shoving her away with his stubby arm, he stomped his foot down and pointed at the door.
Sheesh, this guy knew how to trim the bushes before she could beat around them. <Good sir, we just want to join your club! Please? Please please?> She was running out of options, but in a attempt to end things peacefully, she wrapped her arms around the Karrablast for a huge Emolga hug.
B A T T L E !
Nope. This was not ok for the Karrablast, and he needed this to stop. Growling at the Emolga's impudence, he flicked back his head as he screeched an obnoxious Bug Buzz into her ears. Immediately letting go to cover her ears with her paws, Aph and Danny yelped at the sudden strike, making both of their ears ring even after the Bug Buzz receded into silence. <Yeah, I'm not dealing with this. You're on your own.> Aph thumped her tail on the ground as her fur spiked up from the surprise attack, clearly agitated at how things weren't going as planned. Putting up a Light Screen to help whoever came out next, she engulfed herself in sparks as she charged at the Karrablast, tackling him to the ground as she made a u-turn back into her Pokeball. She wasn't about to deal with a pest like this if he couldn't even appreciate how nice she tried to be.
Now left with an injured, pissed off Karrablast that was ready to fight, Danny frantically felt around his belt for someone he could use. Reaching for one of the first in his belt, he ended up sending out his Metapod, of all Pokemon, to take on this feisty bug. "Dammit, Aph. At least give me a warning before you Volt Switch." Noticing the stare down between the two bugs, the thick tension in the air made him uneasy, and the best cure for hostile tension was to sing your way through it. Or maybe hum your way through it. Either was fine in Danny's case, and as the Karrablast retaliated with a Fury Attack on the Metapod's hard shell, he hummed the chorus to 'Hey Juliet' by LMNT. He wasn't even fond of that song, but somehow, Winnie reminded him of it.
And now the tune was stuck in Winnie's head, because she adored that song whenever it played on the radio. Stuck dealing with a furious onslaught of attacks, Winnie braced herself with a couple of hardens, coating her body with a silvery sheen as the Karrablast shoved her back with a Headbutt. The attack hurt, but she was doing way better than the Karrablast, who was still smarting from Aph's Volt Switch.
He couldn't help but notice how hard that shell of hers was, and if his physical strikes weren't doing any good, he had to rely on the power of sound to get around that thick shell. He reared his head back once again as he screamed out another Bug Buzz, and as powerful as it was, the Light Screen Aph left behind surrounded Winnie in her time of need, cutting the attack's power in half.
Winnie was looking pretty good right now, and even if she had no form of recovery, she was practically a living fortress. All she needed was guns and ammo, and ok maybe arms and fingers to use them, and she was good to go.
Fed up with the Karrablast's rampage, out of the tippy top of her shell, she fired a String Shot around the Karrablat's body. It was almost like watching someone take a pot of floppy noodles and dump it on someone's head, but those noodles were lonely babes that only knew how to cling. Once the beetle was trapped and vulnerable, she hopped towards him and gave him a firm Bug Bite on his arm. She had tiny teeth hiding somewhere on her shell, and it was surprising how much of a punch they had despite their small size. Not minding how her own string oozed over her body, she gave him another Bug Bite on his cheek, weakening him even further as he tried to break free from this misery. He managed to scream out another Bug Buzz as he continued to struggle his way out, finding it difficult to attack with his head when he was tied to the Metapod thanks to her String Shot. The Bug Buzz continued to rattle her, damaging her sensitive ears despite her shell's reliability, but the Light Screen saved her butt yet again, allowing her to survive an attack that would normally knock her out. Taking note of the Karrablast's struggle, she ended it with a final Bug Bite, knocking him down as she tumbled on top of him, mumbling in annoyance at how the String Shot worked against her.
"Good work, Winwin. Let's get you guys out of that string." He felt kind of bad seeing Winnie wrapped up like that, so he ripped a page off one of the spare newspapers and used it as a makeshift glove, yanking the string loose until Winnie could roll free. Plopping the Metapod on his lap as he checked her over, he figured that her wounds weren't so severe that she needed to go to the Pokemon Center. "I guess that's your battle for the day. You'll evolve soon, Winners. I know you will. No more getting trapped in your silly string, or whatever you cool cocoons do." It felt kind of strange to pet a Metapod, but he tried to do it anyways. No matter where he petted, he couldn't get a reaction from her. Welp. She probably still wasn't all that fond of him them, but he was working on it.
And as for that Karrablast, he was thinking that it looked pretty cool. He might've owned a few bug types already, but he didn't see the harm in raising another. He liked bugs. Bugs were cool. He was starting to run out of Pokeballs, but he decided to throw one at the Karrablast regardless.

Armed with yet another Pokemon from Unova, Danny couldn't get over how many unfamiliar, incredible Pokemon lived out in a forest like this. The variety was something else, seeing how he was mostly familiar with Pokemon native to Hoenn and Orre. Smirking as the Pokeball let out a victorious 'ding', he held out his hand to give Winnie a high-five. "High-five, Metapod style." He boinked her head against his hand, which Winnie found completely tasteless. Stomping off of his lap in a huff, she decided to let him think about his actions as she made her way outside.
Much to her surprise, they were high up in the trees. Pretty odd place to find a beat up shack, but she didn't underestimate the strangeness of humans. <Pardon me, coming through.> An Emolga coughed as he stepped around the sulking Metapod, curious about the commotion he heard for the past 10 minutes. "Winnieee. Winnie, baby. Winnie, don't take that to heart. I was teasing. We can do headbutts next time. Or...or maybe just hugs? Noticing the Emolga sniffing around the room, he had no reason to think that it wasn't Aph, though he was confused on how she escaped from her Pokeball without him noticing. "Aph, what are you doing? You Volt Switched away from that beetle with your tail between your legs, and now you're parading around the place the second he's gone." Ignoring the Emolga's blatantly confused expression, he took out Aph's Pokeball and attempted to return him.
Except it didn't work.
Not only that, but he could clearly see Aph through the red cap of her Pokeball, looking at him as if something was incredibly flawed with his line of thought. Quickly switching back to the wild Emolga, the flying squirrel cackled at his confusion as he hopped onto the nearby couch, legs crossed as if he totally owned the place. "Oh, well then..." Whoops. Now that he had a better look at the Emolga, he could see a couple of differences between him and Aph. Their personalities were certainly different, that much was guaranteed. "Sorry to disturb you, little guy. We were just leaving." He could still see Winnie curiously staring at him from outside of the shack, waiting for him to wrap things up with the stray so they could leave. Figuring that it was best to just head out, he decided to leave the Emolga be.
Normally a good plan, except this Emolga had attitude.
It even decided to help speed things up by firing a weak Discharge at Danny's feet, making all of the hair on his body stand up as the electricity pricked his toes. Of course it hurt, and now he felt painful to look at too. <What did he do that for? You were leaving.> Winnie spoke up in protest, and when the Emolga heard that, the look he gave her made her entire body jump in fury.
<Duh, I was helping him leave faster. This is my crib now.> He clicked his tongue as he made a pistol out of his fingers, firing an Electro Ball at the Metapod for good measure. Thankfully the Light Screen from before stuck around to defend her yet again, but her health was dangerously tipping into the red zone. "Are you serious? Jackass." All he could do was return Winnie into her Pokeball until something worse happened, and as tempted as he was to just let things be and leave, he wanted to teach this punk a lesson. The only problem was that most of his team consisted of birds and bugs, all of which despised the Emolga's typing. He should know; he has one, after all.
B A T T L E !
Even a Pokemon like Gawain would struggle against an Emolga, but he had a backup plan just in case something like this happened. "You're gonna wish your momma taught you manners by the time we're done." Recruiting Zizi for this battle was the obvious choice, though Hermes was a fair second option. As the Spritzee stared down the couch potato, something about his body language immediately repulsed her. That arrogance in his smirk as he twirled into the air, landing smoothly as if he was some kind of acrobatic diva. Even the way he looked at her felt condescending, as if he was putting her down just because she wasn't him. Yeah, she was game to put this jerk in his place. "Zizi, set the mood with a Charm and Attract. How can he even dare to hit a lady as pretty as you?" His words had even more meaning in case the Emolga became attracted to his dear Zizi, which would've made the battle all too easy if it happened.
Even if the Emolga repulsed her, the effects of her false love was worth it. She charmed him away by blowing kisses in his direction, buttering him up despite their mutual dislike. She had to hold her breath as she fluttered into the air, nervous as she sprinkled heart filled pheromones towards her flattered foe. The Emolga would've been fine with handling the Attract if he didn't notice the Charm's effect on his resolve to battle. Her sickeningly sweet looks made him weak in the knees, and he had a bad feeling about the hearts that hovered around him. Thinking fast, he fired off a Discharge at full power, filling the room with sparks as they knocked things off the walls, stretching all the way towards Zizi and Danny, engulfing them in sparks. Even the cute heart balloons were popped in the chaos, canceling her attack out with ease.
<If you knew a thing about battling, you wouldn't have to make a mess out of everything.> Still dazed from the Emolga's power, Zizi clutched one of her wings as she uneasily rocked herself back and forth, wincing as several sparks clung to her wings. Danny was still recoiling from the attack, not even knowing that such a move existed, and somehow this Emolga could kick ass with it. Good thing Aph didn't know it, or else everyone would suffer from her spontaneous discharges. Checking the Spritzee over as the two tense rivals faced off, he grimaced at the sight of the flickering sparks on her pink petaled wings. He recognized the paralysis immediately, and not wanting to risk a turn of vulnerability, he opted to heal and boost up before attacking. "Shake it off with Aromatherapy. Deep breaths, Zizi. Use Calm Mind and brace yourself, ok? You'll get your chance to strike back soon." Seriously, thank the online forums for teaching him how to battle with a Spritzee. Draining Kiss was about to be their life savior.
Raising her long, slender beak into the air, she concentrated most of her power into the very tip, making it glow a gentle shade of purple as she rustled it through her feathers. The combination released a sweet aroma that was tucked away in her feathers, easing the paralysis out of her body as she breathed in and out, slowly and calmly.
The Emolga was way too impatient to just let this happen, so he took a leap of faith as he spiraled back into the air, showing off aerial skills that Aph had yet to reveal. Bouncing from the floor to the ceiling, he cackled through his buck-toothed grin as he collided into the Spritzee, knocking her back even further. Her health was tipping to a low point, but as she stood up with that nice boost of power to back her up, she was ready to get her health back. This time she flew right at him, boldly smooching him on the cheek as she robbed him of his precious health. It made his poor heart flutter as the Charm's effects continued to take over, but the pain was enough to make him shove her away.
That shove wasn't enough to keep her from coming back, and she smooched another Draining Kiss out of the same cheek, feeling pretty sneaky for managing to catch him off guard. Finally backing off as her wounds began to heal, Zizi retorted withh a smug look of her own as the Emolga's annoyed scowl turned to a horrified gasp. Getting attacked was bad enough, but healing your opponent was downright shameful!
Furious at her trickery, his cheeks sparked yet again as he summoned a crackling orb of electric power. Right as he lobbed it at the Spritzee, his cheeks flashed with an even stronger electric burst, forcing Zizi to deal with two attacks at once. The Electro Ball smacked her in the beak, and that Discharge made Danny feel as if he was being cooked alive, but Zizi held her ground.
The Emolga was tired, weak, and more importantly; cornered. That was enough to make her tiny talons pitter patter against the creaky wooden floor, smacking him a final smooch on the lips as she sucked the rest of his health away. Dizzy and bewildered as the rest of his stamina flew away, the Emolga's trembling knees collapsed on him as he fainted on the floor, leaving Zizi and Danny victorious against this awful prick. "I swear, Zizi, my love, you're a demon when it comes to fighting." Crouching down so she could hop onto his arm, he lifted her up so the two could properly look down on the squirrel in disgust.
As much as Danny would've loved to continue exploring Pinwheel Forest, he was more interested in checking out all of the new Pokemon he caught. The internet must've been filled with information about what they liked to eat, what the best moves were for them, and even odd behaviors that he had to watch out for. Sure, he wouldn't remember all of it, but learning trivia was always fun in the moment, regardless of whether it was retained or not.
And with Zizi perched on his shoulder as a look out, Danny made his way back towards Skyarrow Bridge. Except this time, he was taking a taxi.
